USUAL HAUNT/FREQUENTED LOCATION: The Atlantis Odyssey MOTIVATION(S): Octavia, coming from a lowly family in the forgotten and raised for the most part by her older brother, has a particularly tumultuous personality. Don’t get me wrong, she’s going to cause a war amongst the different lore and ruin her brother’s place in the guard, and she follows the heirarchy of the Forgotten Kingdom and tries not to cause TOO much of a stir, although she’s well-versed in finding trouble for herself. There’s been many a time that Jake has had to come save her from a bind but she's been trying to keep him out of it for the most part lately, what with all the shit he's been going through.     Octavia is loyal to the merfolk. She is proud to be mer and loves herself and her species (is not NOT prone to running her fingers through her hair everytime she sees herself in a mirror). While she doesn't have her brother's blind devotion to the royals, she respects the heirarchy and doesn't act as though she is more important than she is. She has always known she was bottom of the barrel, her and Jake knew from a young age, and maybe that's why she happens to find herself in trouble frequently. Beings more powerful than her can overule her and take advantage of her, and for the most part she just has to allow it (not without some fiery comments and hiss). Octavia's soul-gut instinct is to survive, and sometimes that means running with the wrong crowd to get what she wants, sometimes it means hiding out at Jake's place for a week so no one knows where she is.     Above all else, she is fiercely loyal to her brother. She only came to Calamity for him, followed him. Her motivation is to survive, and for Jake to survive. While Octavia loves to be reckless, and she pretends to be less intelligent than she is in the presence of more powerful beings, she feels the tensions, she senses the war coming between the species. Her objective is to survive it. How? Where's the tightrope between flying under the radar and having a connection to enough people that she will be saved? Waiting at her brother's Seaside Cottage for him to get home to explain to him that she needs to stay here for a few days, and it's really not a big deal, you'll barely notice that I'm here. Just in case though, if someone knocks on the door, asking for Octavia, tell them I'm dead and you've just come back from my funeral.

Roaming around the streets in the Haven, ignoring one of her knees trying to buckle with every few steps. Everything hurts, but she can't show weakness, she can't try and stretch her legs now, not with all the lore around her. What's the neon sign down there? Sinsation? That looks fun.

Pretending that she is less intelligent than she actually is in the presence of more powerful beings in order for them to underestimate her.

USUAL HAUNT/FREQUENTED LOCATION: Citadel of the Dead, White Swallow, Eternal Falls MOTIVATION(S): Remy believes in balance over anything, and not in the way the 'light' witches believe in it. He believes that there is nature in the corrupted, that is it natural to practice the black magic, that there cannot be light without dark. He believes his darkness is a necessity to keep the world balanced. If the world's pendulum is swinging too much on the side of light, he'll quickly do something to counteract it, but if it's too much on the side of darkness, he tends to sit back and not cause any more chaos and will even sometimes give pointers to the witches of light. WHY ARE THEY IN CALAMITY: Calamity is where he was raised by his parents before they became bloodwraithes and unfit to raise him. He's traveled the world for a few years but has returned to serve the arch conduits and help balance the light and the dark. WANTED CONNECTIONS

Remy is all about balance so when he meets a witch he believes needs to stay on the side of light he sometimes offers to absorb any dark magic they might manage to conjure when they are struggling with staying on the side of good.

Someone who has found out about Remy's financial status and maybe tries to get him to be a business partner or something.

Before his parents died, they were bloodwraithes - utterly crazed with powers they can no longer control. As a sorcerer himself, Remy feels this will also be his path. It was something that unsettled him at first, but now he's made peace with the idea, believing it to be nature's course. 

As an Epithet Remy is trained in combat and favors the whip as his weapon. Though he objectively has no problem with any of the other creatures in Calamity, he is loyal to the arch conduits and will carry out their will regardless.

 During his travels, Remy spent a lot of time in colder regions and eventually decided his conjured animal would be the snow leopard. Over the years he's trained it to compliment his fighting style with the whip. 

Being a light witch was never an option for Remy, as his parents were both sorcerers. He never stopped to think against it, his powers developing quite nicely as he embraced the darkness. His belief of dark magic being apart of mother nature is something he developed on his own the more he traveled the world. 

He is a believer in knowledge is power and won't go a day without reading. Though he takes his craft seriously, he does enjoy a night out every so often as well. 

Remy inherited a substantial amount of wealth. He's not one to spend money on flashy things so he's remained unemployed, for the most part, since then.

It's something he wants for everyone, which is why he is always traveling, always performing. He goes after what he wants and tries to live life with no regrets. He loves attention and he loves to perform for an audience. He takes great pride in being merfolk but he also loves interacting with other creatures as well. He believes there is a way for all of them to coexist without having to constantly fight all the time. WHY ARE THEY IN CALAMITY:  His songs are known in many merfolk kingdoms throughout the world. He's currently stopping in Calamity to perform for the new king and queen, as well as anyone else who would want to listen.

Despite all merfolk knowing how to sing, Jazz is particular gifted when it comes to music. Not only does he sing but he also knows how to play the harp, violin, cello, piano, and can recite poetry. Obviously the instruments are better played on land. 

Among several merfolk kingdoms Jazz has grown into having a somewhat celebrity status, recognizable for his talents most likely. His music seems to be favored among the surface as well, though the scale is much smaller (he hopes to change that). 

Typically a lover not a fighter, Jazz will try to smile out of any hostile situation. If his charm can't work, he does know a few tricks with his aquakinesis to help him out. 

Only types of creatures Jazz tries to stay clear of are the Fae. Obviously he interacts with them when he needs to exchange his scales for legs but they sort of remind him of himself and that makes him very weary.

Character Name: Elizabeth "Beth" Garcia Hernandez  Age (has to be in between + or - 5 years of the FC age): 28 Faceclaim: Christian Serratos Species: Witch Additional Species Info: Role: Wiccan - Natural Faction/Side (see TERRITORIES for further info): Onyx Peak/Northside Usual Haunt/Frequented Location: Circe's Eden & Restricted Emporium. Motivation(s) (What drives your character, what are their wants, their desires and little quirks that give them ‘purpose’): Beth wishes that she could be a loner and spend her time brooding away over a glass of wine, but somehow she always finds herself seeking out company. She likes to pride herself on being unapproachable and grumpy, but if someone is patient enough they will gain a loyal and protective friend. While she has a brunt exterior, she can also be extremely flirty as a way to push people's buttons and the witch definitely uses those interactions to get out of her head. She is very sarcastic and uses humour to deflect any type of serious conversation. She enjoys red wine, art and cigarettes. Wears a lot of rings on both of her fingers that she inherited from her mother, these have been passed down through that side of the family. Why are they in Calamity (Reason for being in State/Home?/Travelling/Revenge or Vengeance/Accident etc.?): Her first answer would be 'revenge', but if she were completely honest it would be to find closure about her mother's death. She presents her reasons as tracking down and avenging her mother, but if it came to it she could never truly hurt anyone. WC pickup (if applicable/if you’re picking up a WC): N/A Wanted Connections: Her father. She doesn't know much about him other than what her mother told her and still that's very little. He was always painted as a generous and charismatic man who had Beth's mother fall quickly head over heels for him. However, wouldn't a good man have stayed when the younger witch was born? She wants to find him and she wants answers but the longer he's away the less likely that seems. Descriptors/Traits (top three traits, positive & negative that you’d consider of your character): Honest, Smart, Determined and Judgmental, Closed Off, Stubborn Headcanons (No matter how small or short, 3-5 headcanons that give us a vibe about your character and how they’d fit in Calamitous): 1 - Beth doesn't know it but the person who ordered her mother's killing was her father, the illusive man setting up a dark witch to take the fall for his jealously once her mother declared she wanted to leave him. However, Beth's mother didn't want her growing up with a bad image of her father in case they were ever to reunite, trickling her information about him that made him seem like a kind man. Her mother had no idea of course about what he planned to do and when another civil war between the good and bad witches grew, he found a way to keep his hands clean. 2 - Beth knows in her role as a Wiccan she has to care for some of the Neophytes and acts like it's a massive chore (which it sometimes can be) but she loves it, it gives her a sense of purpose she needs to keep her head on straight and she is very protective over them. 3 - Her favourite thing in the world to do if her potions. She liked to experiment with new mixtures and recipes, trying to focus on the protection side even though that's the most difficult. Her potions don't always work and she's got a few scars from shattered glass and sharp knives to show for it, but it fulfills her. 4 - Looking at her it wouldn't be immediately obvious she's on the light side of her witchcraft, but her mother brought her up that way. She was always taught that every species is worthy of life and her magic should be used to protect those weaker than her, for the world to heal. But, there was a time after her mother's death she was tempted to dip into the dark side. She's been able to resist so far, even if the light seems harder to stick with, she couldn't forgive herself if a choice she made harmed another person.  Property/Business Ventures (are they involved with any businesses in Calamity, do they own/run one - you can apply for one - are they under the radar dealing something less savoury? What does your character do in Calamity?): No official business, she is looking but right now she offers her own brewed potions under the table that earns enough to keep afloat.
