How can my site name (not just URL) show in Google SERP after favicon? https://www.reddit.com/r/SEO/comments/gkjt4v/how_can_my_site_name_not_just_url_show_in_google/

I usually check my initial SERP results on desktop (incognito tab) about an hour after publishing a new blog post just to get a baseline result.

Yesterday I was on my phone, and realized I had forgotten to check on a post I had published earlier in the day. P1L3 for my keyword - not too bad.

Then I noticed that the results above me in the search looked a bit different than mine did. Some of them below me did too - but not all of them.

Other results looked like this:

(favicon) Company X - https://blahblahbl Title of Blog Post

Mine looked like this:

(favicon) https://urlformyblogpostblahblah Title of Blog Post

What? Why does mine look...different? And not in a good way?

So I popped over to my laptop, and all the results looked the same. No one had a company name before the url.

So. It hits me even more. Most of my traffic is on mobile. If I were searching on mobile, I’d be more likely to click on the result that shows the website name nice and neat after the favicon - not just a URL.

Is my site not big enough? Not old enough?

I started searching random queries that popped into my head. Couldn’t find any correlation between site age/size and whether there was just a URL or a website name first.

I found websites that are household names that just had the url after the favicon. Some smaller blogs featured the blog name first.

I tried googling to see if I could find an answer, but I couldn’t hit on the right query.

Am I missing something obvious? Is there something I can do to put my website name first? Some setting in WordPress or something in Google Search Console? Or is this just a Google quirk?

Any help/ideas/theories are appreciated!
