Chevrolet Camaro Discontinued After 2023, WTF?!?

Chevrolet Camaro Discontinued After 2023, WTF?!?
By Dave Ashton
The latest shock information indicates that the current Chevy Camaro development has been hanging and the nameplate will most likely stop after 2023.
According to a post at Muscle Vehicles & Trucks multiple sources within GENERAL MOTORS say there are multiple aspects that have contributed to the choice. Most obviously current developments moving away from car sales plus high performance vehicles. The big query now is will this be considered a hiatus or a shelving from the nameplate for the foreseeable future?
In many ways, this isn’ t a new situation. The particular model was discontinued following the 2002 model year, coming back in 2010 with much applause and being one of the bestselling muscle cars up to 2014. The Mustang and Opposition hit back in 2015, removing sales from the Camaro, that have not bested the levels they will once had up to 2014.
Why your decision? The big image view says current styles are moving towards electrical vehicles and SUV’ t. Other carmakers seem to be planning for cutting back their vehicle lineup, which means dropping the particular Camaro in this vein needs to be no surprise. The Cadillac OBTAIN THE and CTS which discuss the same platform as the present sixth-generation Camaro have been stopped, with no plans for the Camaro to transition to the up-to-date A2XX platform.
Sales of the sixth style. Camaro haven’ t strike the rates of the 5th Gen. version. There was the 25% drop in product sales for 2018 which were exponentially boosted by factors such as the wedding reception of the 2019 Camaro style refresh wasn’ t specifically positive. The option of an OF V8 hybrid also didn’ to go down very well. The focus on electric automobiles for GM has drawn noteworthy characters away from the particular Camaro design team and also a future policy for absolutely no crashes, zero emissions and absolutely no congestion is at odds using the ethos of what the Camaro has stood for considering that day one. Currently popping up online is the thought that all the next mid-engined C8 Corvette maybe too expensive for some and may drive sales towards the Camaro. Maybe pushing GM to get back into the Camaro. This might be wishful thinking as vehicle development is usually years in to the future, but least right now there’ s no public announcements.
The particular irony here is that the 6th gen. Camaro may have several deficits in styling plus pricing, but it’ h still one of the best handling sports activities cars. The 1LE package comes with every model as well as the ZL1 1LE has also given the C7 Corvette a run for its cash. Maybe, the upcoming mid-engined C8 will create a larger separation between the models, yet this could also be a little too past due.
Just like Kia seem to be throwing everything aside in their car lineup in addition to the Mustang, you may think GM could have the same thoughts about the Camaro. But the Corvette is resembling it will be their Halo design moving forward, but into the a lot more exclusive supercar territory.
On a positive notice, we still have until 2023 to enjoy the current Camaro with a nameplate that has been around since 1966, with merely a brief layoff from 2002-2010, it would seem very strange not to have a Camaro from now on, even when it was some sort of electric or even hybrid version. Is some thing better than nothing? For instance, what’ s Bumblebee from the Transformers movie likely to be from now on? A Chevy Bolt?? The Decepticons are simply a bunch electric SUV’ s i9000? Sad times… …..

THE TOP 25 MODELS TO COME, ACCORDING TO CAR AND DRIVER
The American magazine Car and Driver recently published its list of 25 models that deserve to be expected over the next few years. We’re going through this fine selection of vehicles with a grain of salt.
Ah yes, don’t think that these 25 upcoming models are the only ones planned for the next 3-4 seasons. Even though the pandemic is currently affecting the entire industry, the automotive world is preparing for what’s next… and the resumption of production as soon as possible!
Chevrolet Corvette Z06 2022
According to the publication, the next level of Corvette is expected in 2022. We can expect a multiplication of versions of the model, which, it should be remembered, now uses a centrally located engine. Over the years, Chevrolet has introduced us to several liveries of the sports car, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the ZR1 badge coming back. For this future Z06, a naturally aspirated V8 engine is probably the solution, while on-road performance is likely to be more spicy.
Porsche 718 GT4 RS 2022
Still in the ultra-sporty segment, Porsche is busy pushing the limits of its most affordable coupe even further. After the GT4, the RS badge would theoretically end the career of this generation of the coupe. The 4.0-liter naturally aspirated 6-cylinder flat-bed engine is expected to be more muscular than ever in this track-ready car.
McLaren 765LT 2021
This “longer” evolution of the 720S (LT stands for Long Tail) has already been unveiled on the web. So we know many details about the final version, because even the pictures are available. What is certain is that the 765LT will certainly be even more formidable than the 720S. Lighter than the 720S, the 765LT will also be more powerful thanks to a 755-hp twin-turbo V8 engine. Its arrival is expected before the end of the year.
Aston Martin Vanquish 2024
Let’s stay in the UK if you don’t mind, as Aston Martin is also preparing a metamorphosis of its entire line-up.
Obviously, the DBX SUV is the number one priority for the next few months, but after that, the British firm’s engineers will have to focus on moving the majority of sports cars to a mid-engine configuration. After the Valkyrie supercar, the automaker intends to market a Vanquish with a turbocharged V6 engine and electric power assist. Yes, even Aston Martin cannot escape electrification.
Maserati MC20 2021
There’s also something new at Maserati, the Italian automaker, which is already working on a mid-engine sports car powered by a twin-turbo V6 engine that could, according to the magazine, surpass the 600-horsepower mark.
And since the Italian firm has already indicated its intention to electrify its entire fleet, it wouldn’t be surprising if the MC20 receives a hybrid powertrain and even a pure electric one a little later in its lifecycle.
BMW i8 M 2024
Despite the mixed success of the BMW i8, Car and Driver believes that the Vision M Next prototype (see photo) presented in 2019 shows what to expect from the i8 replacement.
For now, it is too early to confirm the return of the i8 name, but what is certain according to the publication is that the manufacturer is preparing a sequel to this first exotic plug-in hybrid. And this second opus would be more focused on high performance. However, patience will be needed, because this future BMW, a half-petrol, half-electric vehicle, is expected in 2023 at the earliest.
GMC Hummer 2022
The American giant made a lot of noise earlier this year by unveiling part of the snout of the first all-electric pickup truck for GMC. Not only is this a first for GMC, but the division has chosen to bring the Hummer name back to the market. The manufacturer even announced a 1,000 horsepower and extra-long range.
Competition is beginning to take shape in this niche of electrically-powered pickup trucks.
Tesla Cybertruck 2022
In fact, if there’s one American manufacturer who knows how to attract all the attention to its products, it’s Tesla! And the brand founded by Elon Musk also made a lot of headlines last year with the presentation of the Cybertruck, the most unusual van in history with a triangular design that leaves no one indifferent.
Just like the GMC Hummer, the Tesla Cybertruck promises breathtaking accelerations thanks to powerful engines and very interesting autonomy.
Hyundai Santa Cruz 2021
We’ve been waiting for this one for a long time. Hyundai presented its Santa Cruz prototype in 2015 and its arrival is finally scheduled for 2021.
This first foray by the Korean giant into the mid-size pickup segment will in a way follow the model first introduced with the Honda Ridgeline, the Japanese pickup based on a monocoque architecture, unlike the other vehicles in the category, all perched on ladder-type chassis.
4-cylinder powertrains are also to be expected for the Santa Cruz, which will be positioned as a leisure van rather than a real work tool.
Ford F-150 2021
Speaking of pickup trucks: the world’s best-selling pickup truck is set to receive a light sweep for the 2021 model year, as several make-up prototypes have already been seen on North American roads.
So this is not a design revolution, but rather a revision of exterior usage. Under the hood, several powertrains will be back, but the arrival of a hybrid version is expected, while Ford has already revealed its intention to tackle the electric niche, thanks to the partnership with Rivian.
Car and Driver is also looking into the future of the Raptor, which, with the arrival of the Ram Rebel TRX, could benefit from a supercharged V8 engine borrowed from the Shelby GT500. The Ford F-150 should continue to dominate for a few more years to come!
Jeep Grand Cherokee 2021
The current generation of the 4×4 has been in service since the 2011 model year. Although it has aged very well over the seasons, Grand Cherokee is in need of renewal.
We can expect a few mechanical changes under the hood of the SUV, as well as a new architecture. The Daimler Chrysler-era skeleton will be replaced by Alfa Romeo’s Giorgio platform. What’s important is that the Grand Cherokee retains its 4×4 status as part of an all-utility vehicle lineup.
Kia Sorento 2021
Earlier this year, the Korean automaker unveiled the new generation of the popular crossover. While the design is evolving timidly, it’s under the hood that the Sorento presents itself in a new light. Indeed, with a hybrid powertrain and two other four-cylinder engines, Kia seems more serious in its approach to taking sales away from the competition.
Genesis GV80 2021
So far, the Genesis division hasn’t really managed to establish itself in the collective imagination with its three sedans, despite the qualities of the latter and the many prizes they’ve won.
Perhaps a superbly crafted crossover will make up for that. The GV80, as its name suggests, is the elevated equivalent of the G80. However, the SUV offers an entry-level 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, while a twin-turbocharged 375-hp V6 completes the lineup. The GV80 also consolidates the brand’s new language.
Lexus LQ 2022
A quick look at the Lexus alignment confirms that the manufacturer is well represented in all segments. Unfortunately, buyers of large SUVs don’t necessarily need a genuine 4×4 like the LX (essentially a dressed-up Toyota Land Cruiser).
That’s where a more comfortable SUV inspired by the LS limousine would fit in. The Lexus LQ would fit into a segment occupied by the Porsche Cayenne and BMW X5s of this world and could even aim higher with a livery tattooed with the F badge.
Lincoln Mark E 2022
Ford’s luxury fender has already indicated that it wants to partner with Rivian in the development of a future all-electric SUV. Here, the name is purely fictitious, but as Car and Driver indicates, with an electric powertrain, the name Mark E seems appropriate.
Still, you’ll have to be patient in this case, as his arrival is expected in 2022.
Land Rover Defender 80 2023
To keep up with the current trend for off-road-flavoured utility vehicles, Jaguar Land Rover may be tempted to emulate Ford, which is about to launch the Bronco and Bronco Sport at the same time, the latter being only a scaled-down copy of the former.
Land Rover has just relaunched its legendary Defender, but this model is not for everyone. A Defender 80 (read smaller) could fill the coffers of the brand supported by the Indian giant Tata.
Audi Q4 e-tron 2021
For the past year or so, Audi has been offering its North American customers the e-tron SUV, the vehicle that has recently been joined by the Sportback penchant.
Unfortunately, both of these models are expensive, a detail that could be corrected by a smaller electric crossover. The Q4 e-tron prototype unveiled in 2019 also looks very close to a production model, suggesting that the Q4 – which is based on Volkswagen’s SEM platform – could come along quickly next year.
Alfa Romeo Tonale 2021
If there’s one manufacturer on this list that needs help, it’s Alfa Romeo. Despite the Italian manufacturer’s glorious past, sales figures were simply not taking off, even before the current pandemic.
The arrival of the Stelvio, the brand’s only utility vehicle, certainly helped, but a more urban and accessible model inspired by the Tonale concept would be welcome these days, especially with a hybrid powertrain as promised by the prototype.
Toyota Corolla GR 2022
Rumors have been around for a few years, but it seems the time has finally come for Toyota to add a little adrenaline to its Corolla lineup.
While it’s clear that the Yaris GR introduced earlier this year is a strictly European affair (our North American Yaris is a Mazda2 in disguise), the Corolla could benefit from the Yaris GR’s turbocharged 3-cylinder engine. With 257 horsepower, a Corolla GR equipped with a six-speed manual transmission – and everything needed to keep up with the road – could take a few sales off a certain Golf GTI.
Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing 2021
When GM announced the end of production of the large CT6 sedan last year, many fans wondered what would happen to the new twin-turbo V8 engine also known as the Blackwing. It seems that the 5.5-litre block isn’t compatible with the new CT5 sedan, as Car and Driver claims that this Blackwing variant will be powered by the good old 6.2-litre supercharged V8 previously used in the CTS. Better yet, the publication states that the car will be available with a six-speed manual transmission or the 10-speed automatic unit. Despite the confusion in the nomenclature, this CT5-V Blackwing 2021 is sure to be a track bombshell with 650 horsepower!
Hyundai RM20 N 2023
The Korean giant has already been working on this mid-engine sports car project for several years. And it looks like the idea is about to be approved for series production.
As mentioned by C&D, Hyundai’s senior management is reportedly still studying the option of transferring the project to the Genesis side. However, performance enthusiasts are leaning towards Hyundai, as a car sold under the popular brand is likely to be more affordable than the same architecture at Genesis.
Hyundai might be about to bring back the concept launched by a certain Renault 5 Turbo in the 80s, and that’s very exciting!
Mazda6 2023
Launched in 2013 as a 2014 model, the current Mazda6 was already positioned as a sedan with high-end aspirations. Since then, the manufacturer has been constantly looking to raise the level of its vehicles, as if it wanted to move to the luxury side. The next 6 could even come to play in the big league, as it’s rumored that the car will be equipped with a 6-cylinder inline-drive and even a rear-wheel drive architecture. Any questions?
Acura TLX Type S 2021
All indications are that the next Acura TLX will be decidedly more competent on the road than its predecessor. The current TLX isn’t bad, but it lacks that spark to worry the class leaders. Chassis work and a new twin-turbo V6 engine should contribute to a little more passion for this long-awaited return of the Type S badge.
Nissan 400Z 2021
One of the oldest cars on the road is a Nissan. The 370Z was launched in 2009, which explains its slightly more archaic driving experience. With Nissan’s economic and financial turmoil, the addition of a niche sports car is certainly not the brand’s priority at the time of writing, but for Nissan’s fame, the rebirth of the mythical Z is necessary.
The Infiniti Q60’s twin-turbo V6 engine is expected to be the chosen engine to power the 400Z, while it’s likely that buyers will still have the choice between a manual transmission or an automatic unit. As for design, it’s rumored that the next Z will be largely inspired by the original 240Z. It looks promising!
Ford Fusion Active 2022
The manufacturer of Dearborn has abandoned the traditional car in North America, with the exception of the Mustang and the Fusion which persists for a few more months. However, it seems that the brand’s decision-makers want to tackle the Subaru Outback with an elevated wagon based on the Ford Mondeo.
It should be remembered that originally, the Ford Focus Active was supposed to cross the Atlantic, but this project finally fell through. This Fusion Active could correct the situation and bring a so-called car back to the continent, despite its utility side.

COLD HARD TRUTH —— everyone wants to be an expert before they start. And it’s killing their chance of success 😬. ⠀ They want to feel “ready” 🙄 because they care about how they look. ⠀ They think: “I need a sign” or “I’ll wait for the right timing...” ⠀ GUT PUNCH —— you’re never going to feel “READY”. There is NO perfect time!! ⠀ Just recently we’ve been talking about the importance of SPEED 🏃🏼♀️. Chevrolet Camaro Discontinued After 2023, WTF?!?
By Dave Ashton
The latest shock news indicates that the current Chevrolet Camaro development has been suspended and the nameplate will most likely discontinue after 2023.

Just like Ford seem to be throwing everything away in their car lineup apart from the Mustang, you may think GM would have the same thoughts about the Camaro. But the Corvette is looking like it will be their Halo model moving forward, but into the more exclusive supercar territory.
On a positive note, we still have until 2023 to enjoy the current Camaro and with a nameplate that has existed since 1966, with only a brief layoff from 2002-2010, it would seem very strange to not have a Camaro from now on, even if it was some sort of electric or hybrid version. Is something better than nothing? For instance, what’s Bumblebee from the Transformers movie going to be from now on? A Chevy Bolt?? The Decepticons are just a bunch electric SUV’s? Sad times……..

Toyota Joins U.S. Chorus Calling for Vehicle-to-Vehicle Communications
Every giant of the auto industry and many in Silicon Valley are competing in the new arena of driverless cars, but Toyota wants to become a leading brand in an important but relatively undeveloped area: vehicle-to-vehicle communications.
Calling them “talking cars” is a misnomer—unless you’re talking about KITT, the talking car in Knight Rider—because the vehicles will be “talking” to each other, not humans. The method of communications is rapid, short-range wireless messaging. (Both Honda and Toyota have little humanoid robots for that function, but that’s another story.)
Toyota aims to start selling “talking” vehicles across most of its product lineup in the US by 2021, in an effort to prevent potentially thousands of accidents annually. The idea of vehicle-to-vehicle or “V2V” communications is that vehicles can ping each other, gathering and sending information on current local road conditions—such as accidents, or huge potholes—to one another quickly enough for vehicles to react.
Such technologies have been around longer than the autonomous-driving platforms that are all the rage in the industry. The airline industry relies on its own warning system, the Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System (TCAS), so planes can “talk” to each other and automatically send alerts to pilots and traffic control if they’re flying too close to each other to prevent mid-air collisions.
But the wireless spectrum granted to the automotive industry in 1999 by the U.S. federal government for vehicle-to-vehicle alerts purpose has gone largely unused.
youtube
Ford demonstrated the technology at CES in 2014, while Cadillac introduced limited V2V applications in March 2017 and updated the technology two months later, with the V2V safety technology now standard in Cadillac CTS Sedans. Now Toyota is taking up the cause in the U.S.
youtube
As Automotive News notes, “Toyota has deployed the technology in Japan to more than 100,000 vehicles since 2015,” so the company has had a successful market trial for three years.
“Our commitment today is: No. 1 we are going to deploy the technology and No. 2 we would like others to join,” Andrew Coetzee, Toyota’s group vice president for planning and strategy, told Automotive News about its U.S. plans. Toyota hopes its commitment will persuade other automakers to follow suit.
In fact, V2V communications can’t be effective until a majority of brands and vehicles are involved, and unless transportation infrastructure supports it. It would do limited good for Toyota vehicles to only be able to “talk” with other Toyotas to warn them of complications ahead on the roadway, for instance.
The Obama administration proposed legislation in 2016 that would require all future vehicles to have the advanced technology so that they can “speak the same language,” giving them at least four years to comply.
As Automotive News points out, the U.S. “National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said last year the regulation could eventually cost between $135 and $300 per new vehicle, or up to $5 billion annually but could prevent up to 600,000 crashes and reduce costs by $71 billion annually when fully deployed.”
The NHTSA said last year it has “not made any final decision” on requiring the technology, and no decision is expected before the end of this year.

Chevrolet Camaro Discontinued After 2023, WTF?!?

The latest shock news indicates that the current Chevrolet Camaro development has been suspended and the nameplate will most likely discontinue after 2023.

Sales of the sixth gen. Camaro haven’t hit the rates of the fifth Gen. version. There was a 25% drop in sales for 2018 which were compounded by factors such as the reception of the 2019 Camaro design refresh wasn’t exactly positive. The option of a V8 hybrid also didn’t go down very well. This Is Probably Harley-Davidson’s Last Chance
Photo: AP
The Morning ShiftAll your daily car news in one convenient place. Isn’t your time more important?
Harley is beginning its search for a new CEO, Volvo is making some new cars, and coronavirus. All that and more in The Morning Shift for Monday, March 2, 2020.
1st Gear: Harley Is Deep Into Survival Mode
Harley-Davidson and its CEO Matt Levatich parted ways on Friday in what amounted to a classic late Friday news dump. Levatich had been CEO since May 2015 but failed to turn things around at the motorcycle maker, with sales dropping each year he was in charge.
Levatich had been in the midst of electrifying Harley’s lineup, with the flagship LiveWire debuting last year, the first of several planned electric bikes. The LiveWire was good but it also flopped and Levatich’s other bid to get more people into Harleys—the company’s “More Roads” initiative, which includes a lot of buzzwords—was underwhelming.
Now, it must find a CEO who really can revolutionize what the company has been about, whether that’s by leaning even further into electric bikes or simply recognizing that the company is niche these days at best in the U.S., and far more valuable overseas.
Bloomberg took stock of the company in an article yesterday, somewhat inadvertently revealing how feeble the company’s turnaround attempts so far have been.
Harley was caught flat-footed by competition from more affordable, lightweight bikes as heavy motorcycles like the one Marlon Brando rode in the movie “The Wild One” went out of style, said David MacGregor, an analyst at Longbow Research in Independence, Ohio.
“They’re finally figuring it out, but they’re three years behind the curve,” he said by phone. “The board members and investors were just not willing to wait.”
The new CEO would come aboard as Harley is entering new segments with less expensive middleweight bikes, small displacement motorcycles for Asia, and a slew of electric bikes. It’s also been trying everything from tweaking its iconic logo to acquiring a kids e-bike company to attract younger riders.
Even with the yearslong slump in sales, “we are surprised by the timing of the leadership change ahead of major new product launches scheduled over the next few years,” analysts Sharon Zackfia and Tania Anderson of William Blair & Co., wrote in a note.
President Donald Trump’s trade wars haven’t helped matters but Harley was struggling well before Trump arrived on the scene. Taking over, for now, will be board member Jochen Zeitz, who previously led the German shoemaker Puma for 18 years. That isn’t exactly relevant experience but at least he might have an outside-ish perspective.
Time is running out, in any case. Harley made $423 million in net income last year, down from $531 million in 2018, a worrying number because the economy was so strong. Still, a profit is a profit, though Harley will want to reshape its business while it still is making profits. Its next permanent CEO has their work cut out for them.
2nd Gear: Hyundai Gauges Impact Of Coronavirus
Coronavirus is all over the globe at this point, taking lives while also having a real impact on the world’s economy. That very much includes automakers. Reuters reported Monday that Hyundai’s bottom line in particular is in bad shape:
Hyundai Motor (005380.KS) reported its lowest monthly global sales in a decade in February as the coronavirus outbreak hurt demand, in what is the first major indicator of damage to the broader auto sector from the epidemic.
It turned in a preliminary sales figure of 275,044 vehicles for the month, 13% below 315,820 vehicles sold a year earlier. Hyundai last reported sales lower than this in February 2010.
This will all probably get worse before it gets better, so I would expect other automakers to take similar hits.
3rd Gear: People Want To Buy GM SUVs?
People want to buy GM SUVs! A few at least, probably all in Michigan.
Bloomberg says GM is hiring 1,200 workers to staff up two plants in Lansing, Michigan, where GM makes the Chevy Traverse and the Buick Enclave.
From Bloomberg:
While GM had planned on hiring workers for the Cadillac facility, the additions in the Delta Township plant were not part of a comprehensive four-year labor deal signed with the United Auto Workers in October. Those new jobs come in response to growing sales of SUVs as U.S. consumers abandon sedans for those models and crossovers.
Last year, sales of the Chevy Traverse rose 0.3% to almost 150,000 units. That increase came despite a 40-day strike that cut production and resulted in fourth quarter sales of the SUV falling 15%. Enclave sales rose 3% last year.
GM spokesman Dan Flores said inventory of the Traverse and Enclave are low and the company needs more of them to meet consumer demand. The company may also be trying to steal market share from Ford Motor Co.’s competing Explorer, which has suffered due to problems at the plant that builds the SUV.
Please reassess your life if you’re in the market for a Traverse or Enclave, I beg you.
4th Gear: Toyota’s Investing More In EVs
That’s the tune of $1.2 billion. (Remember that $400 million for AV tech as of late? Chump change.) Toyota’s investment comes in the form of a new EV plant in Tianjin, China, according to Reuters:
The plant will have manufacturing capacity of 200,000 new energy vehicles a year, the document showed. In China, new energy vehicles include battery-only, plug-in hybrid and fuel-cell vehicles.
Toyota declined to comment on the project but said in a statement that the company regards China as one of its most important global markets and is constantly considering various measures to implement in China to meet the needs of growing the business in the country.
5th Gear: New Volvo Crossovers
The brand is planning a big new crossover and a small new crossover, according to Automotive News, which spoke to some dealers. The big one will be in the same class as Mercedes’ GLS and BMW’s X7. AN claims it will be called the XC100, sure to make XC90 owners feel meek. The smaller crossover reportedly will be called the C40, which is in line with the rest of Volvo’s naming scheme:
Volvo did not confirm the information provided to Automotive News, declining to discuss future product. But according to dealers familiar with the product plans, the automaker will launch a new flagship crossover — the XC100 — aimed at satisfying America’s appetite for roomier luxury rides.
Volvo retailers were briefed on the future products in Las Vegas last month.
The crossover is expected to arrive in the second half of 2023 and will be built at Volvo’s Charleston, S.C., plant. A battery version is expected a year later.
[…]
The C40 is expected to arrive in the second half of 2021 as part of a fleet of Volvo EVs now in the pipeline, according to the dealers who attended the presentation. The battery-powered XC40 Recharge P8 will arrive in U.S. stores this year. And an electric XC60 crossover could arrive in 2021, followed by an XC90 EV.
According to dealer descriptions, the C40 will have a sloping roofline and an updated taillamp design and will feature an EV-inspired grille design. That grille will debut on the XC40 Recharge P8.
Both of these make a whole lot of sense, though I’m looking forward to the C40 more for obvious reasons, since it’ll be smaller. I would prefer a new S40 though.
Reverse: Yikes
I had never heard of this:
Neutral: Harley Needs A Lifeline
If you were CEO of Harley what would you do to turn the company around? I think would basically pursue its (sort of) current strategy of launching a bunch of small and interesting electric motorcycles, but do it about a million times faster.

Ed. Note: Get out to the FREE Souslville USA Festival this Saturday, October 19, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. by the Stax Museum at College and McLemore: live music, 12 food trucks, 40 vendors, kids’ activities, and free admission to the museum. Aisling has all the rest of the details on this flagship Memphis festival. It just keeps getting better! I’m talking about Saturday’s annual Soulsville USA Festival, now in its fifth year. This blowout party, attended by thousands of Memphians, features soul, jazz, trap gospel, and hip hop artists on three stages, plus 40 vendors, including 12 food trucks to refuel you after all that jamming. The festival was founded in 2015 by Tonya Dyson, along with six teenage interns and a neighborhood advisory committee. What has made this event such a success? “The neighborhood and its reception and ownership of the event itself! It feels like a huge family reunion, regardless if you’re actually from the neighborhood or not,” Dyson said. Soulsville is the place where black and white musicians came together to jam at STAX Recording Studios during a time of serious racial strife in the South, breaking down social barriers and teaching the world to groove together. Unless otherwise stated, all photos by Malik Tha Martian, courtesy of Soulsville USA and used with permission. The neighborhood is hallowed ground for music lovers. “634-5789 (Soulsville, U.S.A.)” is a song written by Memphians Eddie Floyd and Steve Cropper, recorded by Wilson Pickett and Tina Turner. Artists like Otis Redding, Mavis Staples, and Sam & Dave made music here, while legends like Booker T. Jones. David Porter and Maurice White of Earth, Wind & Fire grew up in Soulsville. The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, was born to a preacher in a shotgun house at 406 Lucy, near McLemore. Keep reading for more details: So, this Saturday, let’s continue that long tradition of music bringing us together. Bring your soul and your comfiest dancing shoes to the corner of College and McLemore in South Memphis this Saturday, October 19, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for the 2019 Soulsville USA Festival to enjoy some stellar live music. This year’s lineup includes the Sensational Barnes Brothers, Emi Secrest, Porcelan, Jerome Chism, Kashief, The Jazz Brothers, and, of course, the talented kids of STAX Music Academy. One of the festival’s goals is to educate Memphians about those who’ve contributed to the city’s soulful history and introduce them to those contributing to its future. So, in addition to the impressive lineup of artists, the family friendly festival will feature a host of interactive and educational activities, as well as games for kids of all ages, provided by South Memphis nonprofit Knowledge Quest. Not only is festival admission free — attendees receive FREE entry to the acclaimed STAX Museum of American Soul Music, which normally costs $13 for adults and $10 for kids. Visited by music fans from around the world, the STAX Museum tells the story of one of the nation’s most influential music labels and holds a one-of-a-kind collection that includes Isaac Hayes superfly custom-made Cadillac Eldorado with 24-carat gold exterior trim — part of his 1972 record deal. You and your peeps can get down on the museum’s dance floor, inspired by the dancers in classic Soul Train episodes playing on surrounding screens. See you Saturday in Soulsville! Go There: 2019 Soulsville USA Festival Saturday, October 19, 2019 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Soulsville USA District at College and McLemore, South Memphis Festival admission is free.
