Does a USB drive get heavier as you store more files on it?

Nope. Paradoxically (and theoretically), the more you save on a flash drive, the lighter it gets.

USB drives use Flash memory, which means the the ones and zeros of the data are stored on transistors.

When you save data, a binary zero is set by charging the float gate of the transistor, and a binary one is set by removing the charge.

To charge it, we add electrons, and the mass of each electron is 0.00000000000000000000000000091 grams.

This means that an empty USB drive (which mostly holds zeros) weighs more than a full USB drive (which has ones and zeros). Add data, reduce the weight.

The fact that Apple’s Lightning connector did support USB 3 speeds, and instead of opening up the standard like they did with MagSafe/Qi2, they nerfed it down the USB 2 speeds and kept it so locked down that the EU forced them to stop using the standard entirely, is actually hilarious.

Like, the Lightning Connector could’ve easily been the USB-C connector. Apple is apart of the USB Committee. They helped design USB-C. They could’ve given their connector to the Committee, and every other phone would’ve been forced to switch, and iOS users would’ve had the advantage of not having to do so. Apple could have done what Tesla did with SAE-J3400 and NACS, but instead, they got too overzealous. And now look at where they got themselves.

I felt true, visceral fear today after I returned from work and discovered that my Huion monitor tablet wouldn't connect to my laptop. I knew that bitch was all powered up and screaming but blue-balling me with only pitch-black darkness.

I had that tablet for 4 years and we experienced the deepest depths of human depravity together - I cried bitter tears, cursed it for reflecting my shitty art skills - my inability to draw hot men bedtime wrestling. But, we also experienced joy together when I succeeded. That fucker made me feel like an art god when it reflected how I envisioned the smut to be. I'm not ready to end this toxic relationship, I thought I'd be.
