NEW PATTERN RELEASE TODAY!!!!
This is Hollofield.
Hollofield is an area of the Patapsco Valley State Park in central Maryland. It is filled with forests on either side of the Patapsco River, the B&O Railroad, and an abandon town called Alberton.
The hat and accompanying cowl feature multiple types of cables. Both patterns are included in a single download (see links below). Two styles of cowl are included: a tight, formfitting version that would be great in harsh winters and snowstorms and a looser version.
The pattern yardage works for ~1” of ribbing for an ~8” wide cowl (with a double-layered brim) or hat.
Each piece uses approximately 200 yards of yarn. If making the set, you’ll need approximately 400 yards of yarn. One yarn of Newton Worsted (see below for details) is enough for the set.
Suggested yarn: The Fiberists Netwon Worsted (Collins Worsted will work too) Colorway in pink example: Precious Coral

Managed to get some knits done for the baby shower today. They’re pretty eclectic, and I wonder about the sizing on some of these, but I had fun making them and I think my friend will appreciate the thought at the very least. I know they’ve been looking at hand made baby wear online and been disappointed by the cost. At least I can help them there and de-stash half used skeins.

Aliceanna is a street in the Fells Point neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland and can be pronounced two ways: Alice-Anna (said like both names separately) and Alyce-ee-awna.
The hat and accompanying cowl feature two types of cables and a tweed stitch block, which uses slip stitches and yarn in front/back movements. Both patterns are included in a single download.
Customize the ribbing to be any length you want. The pattern yardage works for ~1” of ribbing for an ~8” wide cowl or a slouchy hat.
Each piece uses approximately 200 yards of yarn. If making the set, you’ll need approximately 400 yards of yarn.
Ravelry, LoveCrafts, Etsy, Ko-fi
Suggested yarn: Neighborhood Fiber Co. Organic Studio Worsted Colorway in example: Sandtown-Winchester
Happy knitting!

This aran-weight cabled hat has the cable band knit first, followed by the top of the hat, and then the ribbing. And, needing only one skein of aran-weight yarn, it comes together pretty quickly, making it a great quick knit gift (or, just an emergency knit to keep your ears warm!)

The calendar says it’s the first week of Spring but the thermometer’s a little ambivalent about that — will we see a few ❄️ tomorrow? Either way, I’m prepared! I knit an Antler hat from Tincanknits.com in the Rios colorway Playa, just to keep up my new cable knitting skills!
