A bunch of Spinarak moved into the trees around my house, and they look so cute! Is it safe for me to adopt them?

General notes: Spinarak are an awesome bug type pokemon to care for! But they can be tough for people with soft hearts.

General care: So we'll need to get the tough one out of the way first. Spinarak and ariados need feeder pokemon. They cannot (or will not) eat kibble. They greatly prefer live prey, and only seem to attack wriggling prey. But you can feed them frozen thaw thanks to a rather handy feature.

They're dumb as bricks.

Placing a thawed out feeder caterpie in their enclosure and sneakily poking or yanking on it triggers the feeding instinct regardless, and once they have it in their mandibles they're happy. They never seem to notice it was already dead.

If you love bug type pokemon and can't stand to see them being eaten...I don't think you should keep this line. Many pokemon are predators. That's just how they are. It's normal and natural, but for people with gentle hearts, the world is full of pokemon just right for them.

If you love watching the cutieflies in your garden, keep your spinarak as an indoor pokemon. They love cutieflies as well...

Moving on from feeding, this pokemon loves to spin webs, and these webs are very tough. Many traditional fishermen use spinarak webs as nets. If they're getting out of hand, vinegar seems to weaken the webbing enough to tear it down, though I recommend allowing them to web in corners, especially spinarak, who are very small and like to feel sheltered. Ariados often leave a thread trail as they go about their business. Far from being trapdoor spiders, they're tripwire spiders. They can be taught not to leave this trail in high traffic areas of the house, but believe me, you'll learn to watch where you put your feet.

Like many bug pokemon, they like it moist. Spinarak are small enough they can fit in a bug enclosure, and though they can tolerate drier, if they're chilling out at home they prefer an ambient humidity of 70%. There's many forums for dedicated bug keepers that can help you set up a great terrarium. The larger ariados is much more tolerant of its environment, as it wanders more in the wild.

Ariados are fairly nocturnal, and tend to nap a lot during the day. Many trainers become adapted to this and learn to sleep though the "tck-tck-tck" of their pokemon crawling around the bedroom ceiling. A few quiet chew toys is enough to occupy them, they don't need much to be endlessly entertained.

In general, they're a pretty average bug type in terms of care requirements. They do need a bit of cleanup and a trainer who can stomach handling the dead pokemon they need to feed off, but those who can tend to find them easy to look after. Care rating: Green

Training: Being stupid doesn't mean this line can't be trained, and they're a solid poison type. Fairly loyal and friendly, they'll learn to battle well, and though they can take some time to grasp commands, once they've got it, they're good. This line in general is smart enough to learn moves and rules and dumb enough to not question why or try to push back against you.

Ariados in particular have a bad reputation as a result of this. They often get used by unsavoury characters as weapons. This pokemon isn't evil, it's just tragically good at doing what it's told.

A further note. This pokemon is notorious for easily developing bad habits. They like structure and routine, and if it isn't caught and trained out of them before it becomes ingrained, breaking a bad habit like nipping or playing with its food can be a nightmare. Training rating: Green

Safety: It's part poison type, and a nasty one at that.

The spinarak has a fairly mild venom. Bites cause swelling, numbness and itching on humans. Treatment is fairly simple. Wash out the bite, remove any tight clothing around the area and rub pecha berry juice into it.

Ariados bites are another matter. Go to the emergency room immediately. Though rarely fatal, they can cause allergic reactions, and the swelling and pain is MUCH more intense. As well, because they have larger fangs, the bites are deeper, and any bacteria on their fangs is forced deep into the bite. This can cause NASTY infections.

I wouldn't trust this pokemon with unsupervised children.

I rank it orange overall as due to the antivenom being ubiquitous, very few people have died from this lines venom, and those were largely due to allergies. The bites no fun, but it's unlikely to kill you. Safety rating: Orange

Overall ranking. They do need a fair amount of care, but despite all this they can be quite friendly and affectionate. If you think you can handle the harsh realities of the food chain, give this pokemon a go.

Gush about Yoosung for the ask game 💚

So I’ve put this off for days because…while this is FINALLY my chance! to gush! About the husband!! …i don’t know where to start. I’m definitely overthinking it, I know I am lol. And yet…!

Well, I’m on my way to the airport for my honeymoon rn. What better time than now to indulge in thoughts of the husband lol.

Hm… Yoosung and his route, I can confidently say that he altered my brain chemistry. I have several favorite characters, sure, we all have our little guys. But only two characters have ever fundamentally integrated themselves into my psyche, and goddam did Yoosung hit me hard. Without getting into too much detail (to try to keep this positive), my life was at an ideal spot to see myself reflected in Yoosung’s character arc. He charmed me with his silly but earnest personality and then the game hooked me with the realistic portrayal of his depression and loss. My emotional investment in this character was growing exponentially, and by the time he goes to Mint Eye, I started calculating the average times to expect chatrooms, I was so nervous for him! Legitimately anxious! Every chatroom moved me more and more, every sweet, genuine word he said went straight to my heart. I’m pretty sure I was tearing up, if not straight up crying, throughout this route, especially during his speech in the Good Ending.

Hm I mostly talked about the game and how it affected me. Let’s do some quick Yoosung bits that I love:

He dyed and styled his hair after Rika, after losing her. Characters who do that to remember their loved ones and keep them close, I eat that thematic shit UP.

Even when it’s not his route he has a mad crush on you, but he puts his feelings aside and wishes for you and the other person’s happiness.

I have SO many screenshots saved on my phone of messages with him. I don’t care if they’re the same thing over and over, every time I play I have to screenshot whatever sweet or hilarious thing is said.

I have so many screenshots because I play the game like about twice a year. It’s such a comfort game to me, and even when I should be trying to complete the bad endings (fuck you, Ray route bad ending 3), I just gravitate to Yoosungie.

So YOOSUNG is actually the reason behind Cutiefly being my favorite pokemon. When I first played moon I named my cutiefly Yoosungie, because of cutie-pie Yoosung. And that pokemon stayed on my team the entire time, all the way through becoming Champion. So me gushing about cutieflies is really me gushing about Yoosung.

He’s just so GENUINE about his emotions!! He’s not afraid to express any of it! He loves, he cries, he laughs, he rages, he doesn’t hide how he feels.

He’s so goddam cute and he KNOWS IT. He knows he’s fucking adorable!! And he isn’t ashamed of it! Others try to tear him down like no one wants a cute man but he owns it!

Man’s also bit of a freak and I want to devour him.

Speaking of devouring. His whole omelet thing. In the april fool’s dlc. Oh my fucking god. Oh my jesus christ. Picture this shitty meme I would make: me wearing a shirt that says “no vore kink” -> omelet!sung saying “i dream of someone tearing me apart in their hands and devouring me” -> my shirt “one vore kink”

SPEAKING OF april fools. I will never get over Punk!Sung. It was so fucking funny. Devastating that it never came back. I can’t remember anyone else’s deal but Punk!Sung is ingrained into my brain. I can never get rid of my icon. I’m stuck with it and I love it ..know what i’m sayin’?

Wait I’m going back to the omelet thing because he loves to COOK! He dreams of cooking his beloved delicious meals! He just wants a sweet and domestic life like that’s his big fantasy: Making a loving home environment through cooking and cleaning and doing laundry with and for his SO.

He feels bad that he doesn’t compare to like Zen or Jumin or Seven which is. Frankly ridiculous. Like he feels they’re more handsome and talented and rich and smart so there’s no way anyone would like him in comparison. But he is the sweetest, the bravest, willing to fight for his friends and put himself in danger and he’s happy to do so to protect his friends!! Wht the fucj!! He sees himself as some regular dude and still does this!! TRUE SUPERMAN YOOSUNG. BIGGEST HEART.

ALSO. THE MAN GETS INJURED FOR YOU. RECOVERS. GETS HIS MOTIVATION BACK. GRADUATES EARLY. BECOMES A DOCTOR. OWNS HIS OWN VET CLINIC. MARRIES YOU SOMEWHERE IN BETWEEN ALL THAT. ALL WITHIN FOUR YEARS.

I am so sure I could come up with more but honestly. I started typing this at like 4am today and now it’s after 7pm, I’m heading to ANOTHER airport now after spending a day out with my husband, our honeymoon just getting started.

…also I brought Yoosung to the honeymoon with us. I suggested it as a joke but well. He was represented at our wedding last year, he’s joining us now for the honeymoon. I’ll try to take pictures of him later.

Lucky EGG My gym is Rock type! You traverse through a weird maze-like setup with wide paths. There aren't any trainers, instead you have to collect 4 different keys except every time you collect you one you get stampeded by a bunch of Rhydon or Rampardos that you have to fight off :] My team is: Rhydon, Barbaracle, Dunsparce, Magcargo and Rampardos. Why is there a Dunsparce on my rock type team? Because Dunsparce.

🖤 After the whole Aether fiasco with Ginger Mc. Douchebag (and Wolf Grunt’s adopted dad for reasons he couldn’t care less about), he figured he owed her one. Especially when said ginger in question probably scarred her for life. He could tell by how unusually quiet Dragonfly has been in the past couple of weeks. And how broken she was, physically and mentally. Although he was quite leery to return to Route 2, he figured he’ll say ‘screw it’ and take the both of them back there for some R and R. They both needed it badly.

Per usual, he never said much about it. Just asked to take her for a trip and that was that. A late trip. A very late trip, mostly due to the fact that he had to cut corners around Hau’ Oli City just so no one would arrest him for guiding a blindfolded woman around the city. Yes, he kept her blindfolded all the way there. Yes, he knew how stupid it was. Yes, he regretted coming back here. But, he’ll be damned if they didn’t get to see the Cutieflies below the hillside tonight…

“A’ight. Here we are,” He proclaimed with as he removed the blindfold. Sure enough, speckles of shimmering light painted the landscape below them like stardusts among the Milky Way. This was the only thing he looked forward to as a child. Now, he could look forward to it once again. Hopefully, she’d be able to see why. Nevertheless, what better way was there to relax than on a trip down memory lane?

Adding on to Akari plate powers for the Insect plate. Some thoughts of possibilities: a) Summon/command insect squad (ala vespiquen's special moves), b) taste(/smell) touch/ chemoreceptor fingies (congrats you have the fly's special ability now), c) high hair sensitivity (sense changes in airflow and the like), d) Extreme pathing prediction (ala dragonflies being able to calculate the flight path of a single insect out of a whole swarm with unbelievable accuracy), e) Ultraviolet vision (I wonder what kinds of vision pokemon actually would have... and what kinds of uv markings? Would a raticate be bright teal-and-blue in uv like real rats? Rats stand out like nobody's buisiness at night if you have a uv torch)

i was thinking something along the lines of these, yeah! i think bug type would give increased senses, like better hearing / field of vision etc. little helpful survivability tools

also scath i wonder if in-universe pokemon have those things. like does cutiefly have chemoreceptors? are yanma fearsome hunters? food for thought

rival / pokemon breeder official team: lopunny, minior, vivillon, jellicent, marowak, salazzle notes: with being a breeder, a lot of his pokemon are shiny. he worries very little about battles, just appreciating the time he gets to spend with other trainers when he does.

luke

rival / nurse official team: lillipup, blissey, eevee, igglybuff, azurill, deerling notes: as we mentioned, he’s the rival that isn’t really a rival. he trails behind the protagonist asking if he can heal their pokemon for them. is eevee is a gift from simeon, and therefore shiny (it was an extra shiny he got while breeding them)
