Today (August 31, 2020), the Bontrager Family took to their blog to announce that Carson + Lina are now parents to two... Jemima Virtue Bontrager was born on Thursday, August 27, 2020.

Today is Carolina’s [Appoximate] Due Date!

(Note—Awhile ago, Duggar Data adjusted Carolina’s Approximate Due Date from August 24 to 27, 2020. Unfortunately, I didn’t reschedule her queued 37, 38, and 39 Week Posts... Just noticed the issue now, so this Post is going up on the right day. Sorry!)

Marlin Bontrager says Carolina is due soon in the comments on Allison's wedding page. Sounds like her due date is fast approaching, but not passed yet!

New Data (?):  Lina’s Due Date Shifted to August 29th

Anon, you’re right!  On August 25, 2020, an Anon on the Bontrager Family Blog asked “if Carolina is due soon.”  Marlin Bontrager replied:  “Yes, she is!”  When Duggar Data noticed this comment, she didn’t really think of it as providing any data—but, thinking about it again, I think I agree with Anon.  His comment sort of suggests that, as of August 25, 2020, Lina was near—but not at or beyond— her Due Date with C. Bontrager–Bowers #2.  Since we already know she is due in August 2020, that would put her Due Date between August 26–31, 2020.  As a rule, Duggar Data settles on an Approximate Due Date of a range like this by taking the mid–point and, if necessary, rounding up.  So...  August 29, 2020 for this range.

Now, I’ll admit...  This data isn’t perfect.  It’s possible Marlin just meant that she was expected to deliver soon, and wasn’t thinking about her actual Due Date...  But, with how little data we have to go on for this pregnancy, I think I will adjust the Approximate Due Date from August 27, 2020—which was based entirely on her being due in ‘Late August’—to August 29, 2020, based on Marlin’s maybe–helpful comment.

Adjusting Lina’s Due Date moves C. Bontrager–Bowers’s Projected DOB a bit.  He or she is now expected to arrive on September 3, 2020 (5 Days Late).  (That is exactly how late Jubilee was.)

Very Slight Change to Rule Used To Estimate Certain Data

Duggar Data loves exact data; however, it isn’t always available…  Say, when a couple tells us that a relevant event happened in “March,” or “Early March,” but doesn’t give an exact date.  Duggar Data estimates the date in these situations, and does so using a set of established rules to ensure “Early March” is always estimated the same way.

I’ve been rethinking my estimating rules recently, and I’ve decided to change them slightly.  It’s honestly really slight…  It probably doesn’t even matter.  But, I wanted to let you know!

Until now, my rules for estimating Month + Year (e.g., March 2020) and Specific Portion of Month [+ Year] (e.g., Early March 2020) were also follows—

Month + Year   Use the midpoint of the month.  (Round up if it’s a month with an even number of days.)

“Mid” Month   Same analysis as above.

“Early” Month   Use the 1st Quartile—i.e., the midpoint of the 1st Half of the month.  (Round up, if necessary.)

“Late” Month   Use the 3rd Quartile—i.e., the midpoint of the 2nd Half of the month.  (Round up, if necessary.)

Applying these rules, here’s the date I’d end up using—

Month + Year   15th (Months w/ 28 or 29 Days), 16th (w/ 30 or 31 Days)

“Mid” Month   15th (Months w/ 28 or 29 Days), 16th (w/ 30 or 31 Days)

“Early” Month   8th (Regardless of # of Days)

“Late” Month   22nd (Months w/ 28 Days), 23rd (w/ 29 or 30 Days), 24th (w/ 31 Days)

I don’t really like this.  Mostly because it implies that “Early” [Month] consists of the entire first half, and it’s just…  Not.  I wouldn’t consider Valentine’s Day to be in “Early February,” would you?

So, I’ve decided to switch things up…  Instead of dividing months into “Early” and “Late,” I will divide them into 3 Parts—Early, Middle, and Late.  Each part gets the same amount of days, to the extent possible.  As a rule, let’s always ensure that “Early” and “Late” get the same number of days; any extra days are allocated to “Middle.”  So, here’s what’s defined as Early, Middle, and Late—

28–Day Months   1–9 (Early), 10–19 (Middle), 20–28 (Late)

29–Day Months   1–9 (Early), 10–20 (Middle), 21–29 (Late)

30–Day Months   1–10 (Early), 11–20 (Middle), 21–30 (Late)

31–Day Months   1–10 (Early), 11–21 (Middle), 22–31 (Late)

… and, just like before, our Estimate Date would just be the midpoint of the relevant range.  Unlike before, let’s round down if the hint is “Early” Month and the Early Range consists of an even number of values.  (For “Mid” or “Late,” we’ll still round up.)  Here’s the date we’ll end up using, after applying this new rule—

“Early”   5th (Regardless of # of Days)

“Middle”   15th (Months w/ 28 or 29 Days), 16th (w/ 30 or 31 Days)

“Late”   24 (Months w/ 28 Days), 25 (w/ 29 Days), 26 (w/ 30 Days), 27 (w/ 31 Days)

If we’re told a Month + Year, but “Early” or “Late” isn’t stated, we’ll just take the midpoint of the entire month, rounded up if necessary.  (Like we did before.)

Like I said, it’s a small shift…  3 Days or Less, actually.  Regardless, the following data will be directly impacted by the rule change.  For all of these, we were told that the event was in “Early” or “Late” [Month], and that’s it…

C. Bontrager–Bowers #2’s Due Date   Said to be due “end of August” 2020.  This is treated the same as “Late August.”  Was using August 24, 2020.  Now using August 27, 2020 (+3 Days).

Samuel Dillard’s Due Date   Said to be in “Early July” 2017.  Was using July 8, 2017.  Now using July 5, 2017 (–3 Days).

Peter Waller’s Due Date   Said to be in “Early May” 2020.  Was using May 8, 2020.  Now using May 5, 2020 (–3 Days).

That’s it!  Just wanted to let you give know about this very, very slight change.

Lina just entered Week 37, and is now “early term.”  She’s due in “late August,” and Duggar Data is using an Estimated Due Date of August 24, 2020.

Carolina Enters The 3rd Trimester!

Carolina (Bowers) Bontrager is expecting her 2nd Child with Husband Carson, and she’s due in “late August.”  At this point, she’s ~28 Weeks Along, and has just entered the 3rd Trimester.

Breaking:  Carolina (Bowers) Bontrager is Expecting Her 2nd Child w/ Husband Carson!

Thanks for the tip, Anon!  On April 20, 2020, the Bontrager Family revealed via their family blog that their eldest son, Carson, is expecting a second child with his wife, Carolina.  C. Bontrager–Bowers #2 is due in the “late summer,” which they narrowed down to “late August,” in the comments.

Carson + Carolina married on September 1, 2017, at a double wedding shared with their siblings, Joshua + Cassidy (Bowers) Bontrager.  (Carson and Joshua are brothers and Bontragers.  Carolina and Cassidy are sisters and Bowerses.)  Carson + Lina welcomed their Firstborn, Jubilee Katherine, on July 15, 2018—i.e., 317 Days Later, and just 1 Day Before Joshua + Cassidy welcomed theirs.  Joshua + Cassidy announced their 2nd Pregnancy in December 2019, and are due in “spring.”  Carson + Lina’s 2nd Pregnancy Announcement has been late since June 2019.  (Ultimately, it was ~2.2 SDs Late.)

Just in case anyone is wondering if the Bontragers are really quiverfull...  They signed off this latest pregnancy announcement with this Bible passage—

“As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.  Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them...”  (Emphasis added.)

Barf.  Anyway...  Lina is due in “late August,” and, for now, we’ll assume a Due Date of August 24, 2020.  (That is the mid–point of the second part of August.)  Given an Estimated Due Date of August 24, 2020, C. Bontrager–Bowers #2′s Projected DOB is August 29, 2020.  (Since Lina went 5 Days Late w/ Jubilee.)  That would result in a Child #1–to–Child #2 Spacing of 776 Days (25.2 Months).  Assuming, as the Predictor does, that Carson + Carolina they will maintain that pace until Lina’s Fertility Cut–Off, their ESOQ is now 8 Children (+1 Child).  (If you’re wondering how it can increase despite them being late, it’s because the Predictor rescheduled their announcement for June 2020, and expected them to announce a lot earlier in the pregnancy.  Carolina announced Pregnancy #1 at 13 Weeks Along...  This time around, she’s ~23 Weeks!)

As a result of the Pregnancy Announcement, the Bontrager Family’s 2nd Child Multiplier shifted fairly significantly—from 1.7014x to 1.9241x.  As a result, the Estimated Total # of Grandchildren dropped from 89 to 83 Grandchildren, as a result of Mitchell, Allison, Denver, Lincoln, Elizabeth, Hudson, and Rebecca all seeing their ESOQ decrease by 1 Child, while Carson’s increases by 1 Child.

Overall, Who is “Late” (and For What)?

Though typically part of The Next 6 Months, the “Who is Late (And For What?)” list is getting is really, really long, so it’s worthy of its own post.

Here is the full list, starting with those who are Overdue for Courtship (From Latest to Least Late by SD), along with the Rescheduled Date (RD)—

Jana Duggar is very late to court.  Initially, she was due to start courting in March 2010.  Her latest and final RD is June 11, 2023 (+5 SDs).  If she isn’t courting by then, the Predictor will give up on her, since she will be >5 SDs and >5 Years Late.  (Sorry, Jana!)

Anna Maxwell is also late to court.  She should’ve started courting in June 2016.  Her RD is November 21, 2022 (+3 SDs).

Lauren Caldwell was initially forecast to start courting on May 5, 2017.  Her RD is January 27, 2023 (+2.5 SDs).

Mary Maxwell is also late to court.  (Yes, all of the Maxwell Daughters are.)  Her initial forecast was April 3, 2020 and her RD is June 23, 2023 (+1.5 SDs).

Elizabeth Wissmann, 32, should’ve started courting on November 22, 2015, but didn’t.  Her RD is March 23, 2023 (+1.5 SDs).

Renee Rodrigues should’ve started courting around Christmas 2021. She didn’t, and her RD is coming up on July 17, 2022 (+0.5 SD).

Jason Duggar is very slightly late to court.  He was supposed to start back in February.  His RD January 4, 2024 (+0.5 SD).

No Courtship Prediction for Sarah Maxwell [Due to Age].

No one is ‘late’ to get engaged or married, but these couples are all Overdue for A Pregnancy Announcement (From Latest to Least Late by SD)—

Joe + Kendra (Caldwell) Duggar are really late for Pregnancy #4—that is, unless she’s expecting and not announcing it.  They were forecast to announce at Christmas.  The RD is now June 10, 2022 (+6.5 SDs).  Yes, 6.5 SDs!  Until now, she’s been very consistent, so the SD is small.

Sierra + Mark Dominguez are quite late for Pregnancy #8, which was initially forecast for August 2020.  The RD is July 23, 2022 (+5 SDs).

Jesse + Anna (Craig) Maxwell haven’t publicly announced Pregnancy #1, but they’re also not on social media.  The Initial Date was February 15, 2021, and the RD is July 9, 2022 (+4.5 SDs).  

Josiah + Lauren (Swanson) Duggar are overdue Pregnancy #2—again, unless Baby C is secretly already here.  Their announcement was initially expected on November 25, 2020.  The RD June 5, 2022 (+3.5 SDs).

Justin + Claire (Spivey) Duggar are quite late for Pregnancy #1, which was forecast for September 2021.  The RD is June 3, 2022 (2.5 SDs).

Joshua + Cassidy (Bowers) Bontrager are late for Pregnancy #3, as it was initially forecast in August.  The RD is August 3, 2022 (+2.5 SDs.)

Joy–Anna (Duggar) + Austin Forsyth are overdue for Pregnancy #3 w/ an initial date of August 13, 2021, and an RD of June 27, 2022 (+2 SDs.)

Joseph + Elissa (Frost) Maxwell are late for Pregnancy #4, though it’s unclear if they’d even announce it, since they’ve become pretty private. The Initial Forecast was October 2021, the RD is July 11, 2022 (+2 SDs).

Rachel (Wissmann) + Alan Busenitz are late for Pregnancy #4*.  Initial Forecast was February 23, 2022; RD is June 29, 2022 (+2 SDs).  (Note—Rachel had 2 2nd–Trimester Miscarriages last year.)

Denver + Praise (Helferich) Bontrager are late for Pregnancy #1.  The initial forecast was November.  The RD is July 30, 2022 (+2 SDs).

Alyssa (Bates) + John Webster are late for Pregnancy #5.  The initial forecast was March 2, 2022.  The RD is June 25, 2022 (+1 SD).

Katie (Bates) + Travis Clark married in December 2021.  Pregnancy #1 was due on May 4, 2022.  The RD is June 11, 2022 (+1 SD).

Andrew + Kori (Knuth) Wissmann are a bit late for Pregnancy #3, as it was forecast for December 1, 2021.  The RD is August 15, 2022 (+1 SD).

Allison (Bontrager) + Jeremiah Helferich are a bit late for Pregnancy #2, initially expected March 14, 2022.  The RD is July 28, 2022 (+1 SD).

Jinger (Duggar) + Jeremy Vuolo are overdue for Pregnancy #3, which was initially expected in April.  Their RD is July 10, 2022 (+05. SD).

Carson + Carolina (Bowers) Bontrager are late for Pregnancy #3.  The initial forecast was May 2, 2022.  The RD is July 9, 2022 (+0.5 SD).

The Next 6 Months: July–December 2022

During last month's Next 6 Months, I mentioned that I was thinking about phasing out the Maxwells and Bontragers due to data issues. No one expressed strong feelings about this, so I've decided, at this point, to phase out the Maxwells. The Bontragers are still included, for now—but I'll reconsider that if we don't hear anything about any of the 3 Ongoing Bontrager Pregnancies.

Recent Happenings—

On or about June 28, 2022, the Bureau of Prisons relocated Josh Duggar from the local jail, where he has been since his conviction, to FCI Seagoville—a federal prison and sex offender management facility. It's in Seagoville, TX, ~6 Hours from the Duggars by car.

On June 25, 2022, Mitchell + Bryn (Leppert) Bontrager had their 3rd Child and 1st Daughter, Brynleigh Noelle Bontrager.

On or about June 23, 2022, snarkers learned that David + Hannah (Reber) Keller are expecting their Firstborn in November.

On June 19, 2022, Nathan + Esther (Keyes) Bates did a joint Sex / Name Reveal for their Firstborn. It's a girl, Kenna Joy.

Also on June 19, 2022, J–Rod publicly stated that Kaylee—who is engaged in Jonathan Hill—will be married this November.

Around June 16, 2022, a photo surfaced of of Joe + Kendra, their known children, and a baby in a stroller. Speculation ensued that the baby was Duggar–Caldwell #4. Duggar Data isn't so sure.

On June 12, 2022, Karissa Collins went public w/ Pregnancy #10*. She's due on February 4, 2023. This is her 2nd Pregnancy Reveal this year; she miscarried a known pregnancy on February 1st.

Also on June 12, 2022, Marlin Bontrager made a comment that he has 4 Grandchildren on the way. Bryn was known to be pregnant, and has since given birth. It's unknown who else is expecting.

On June 10, 2022, J–Rod revealed the sex of Nurie (Rodrigues) + Nathan Keller's 2nd Child. It's a boy.

Justin Duggar + Claire Spivey married in Texas on February 26, 2021. They’d been engaged since November 10, 2020. 

Erin (Bates) Paine confirmed that, due to recent ovarian surgery, she’s unlikely to have more biological children.  The Predictor will not predict any further pregnancies for Erin + Chad.

Nurie (Rodrigues) + Nathan Keller announced their 1st Pregnancy on February 22, 2021, via Jill’s Facebook.  The Due Date is October 12.

Joe + Kendra (Caldwell) Duggar welcomed their 3rd Child—Brooklyn Praise—on February 19, 2021.  They announced with E! Online.

Josie (Bates) + Kelton Balka did the Sex + Name Reveal for Balka #2* on Instagram on February 18, 2021.  It’s a girl!  Hazel Sloane.

Jessa (Duggar) + Ben Seewald are expecting Baby #4 “this summer,” after suffering a miscarriage in 2020.  They announced on February 18, 2021, with Entertainment Tonight.

Allison (Bontrager) + Jeremiah Helferich are expecting!  They shared the news on February 17, 2021, via social media.  Helferich #1 is due in “late spring,” which presumably means May.

Birth of C. Bontrager–Bowers #2   Carson + Lina (Bowers) Bontrager’s 2nd Child—a girl, named Jemima Virtue—was born on August 27, 2020.  The Bontragers shared the news on their blog on August 31, 2020.

Birth of Forsyth #2*   On August 21, 2020, Joy–Anna (Duggar) Forsyth gave birth to her and Austin’s 2nd Child.  E! News had the exclusive on the birth, and her name—Evelyn Mae—was revealed a few days later. 

Duggar–Caldwell #3   On August 19, 2020, Joseph + Kendra (Caldwell) Duggar announced via People that they are expecting Baby #3.  Kendra is due in February 2021.  Duggar Data is using February 15, 2021 as her Approximate Due Date, for the time being.

Allison + Jeremiah   On August 15, 2020, Allison Bontrager married her fiancé, Jeremiah Helferich, at Marion Avenue Baptist Church in Iowa.

Latest Events—

Webster #4 is on the way!  Alyssa (Bates) + John Webster announced it on August 6, 2020 via a People exclusive.

Nurie + Nathan were married in the throes of COVID–19.  The ceremony occurred on July 25, 2020, at the Mennonite Christian Assembly Church in Fredricksburg, OH.

Bontrager–Leppert #2 is on the way.  The Bontrager Family Blog shared Mitchell + Bryn’s news on June 29, 2020.

Elliot Rex Maxwell was born June 19, 2020 to John + Chelsy (Bontrager) Maxwell.  He is their second child.

Just Missed A Deadline—

Josie + Kelton were due to announce Pregnancy #2 on June 9, but they didn’t.  The Predictor now expects that they’ll announce later this month (August 30), at which point they’d be 0.5 SDs Late.

Alyssa + John didn’t announce Pregnancy #4 on June 13, as previously forecast.  The Predictor revised its estimate to September 2, 2020—but, their recent announcement makes that a moot point.

Jill + Derick failed to announce Pregnancy #3 on July 14—which was their latest ‘deadline.’  They’re now due to announce 3.5 SDs Late, on October 3, 2020.  We’ll see!
