Tom's fans are different, but they speak the facts. It's absolutely normal to want a successful project for your favorite actor because his work and talent should be recognized. It's also normal when you want to see activity on Tom's part. Sometimes some of Tom's fans are negative, but in many ways they are honest, to me they are much better than some hypocritical TZ fans who claim to be equally staned Tom and Zendaya, but in fact they are Zendaya's fans first and foremost. By the way, your theory is very interesting and I think to some extent I can agree with it. But at the same time, it amuses me how sometimes you are too optimistic or do not notice serious problems with some things related to Tom

I mean, I don't mind if fans are honest about their faves. I've always said that I'm 100% honest here on my blog about how I feel about a variety of people and topics. 🤷🏾‍♀️

But to me, it seems as though some fans of Tom (notice I said SOME) can be a bit harsh on him, or complain about things that in the grand scheme of things, really aren't big deals in the long run. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Or, they'll make blanket negative statements that aren't even true, like, "it's normal to want a successful project for your favorite actor" (as if Tom hasn't had MULTIPLE successful projects already?? 🥴🤔), or, you"want to see activity on his part" (as if, we don't get Tom content either through himself, friends, and or family on a REGULAR basis). Look, some actors out here don't even have social media at all, or never post, or don't have their parents posting content about them. 🤷🏾‍♀️ Yet, ppl are still their fans.

I've already made peace with the fact that we're not going to get the same social media happy Tom that we got in 2017. I've made peace with that with both Tom AND Zendaya tbh. If smthg harms my fave and their mental and emotional health, I'm not going to be upset if they're not posting on social media.

I will agree with you that a lot of Tom's fans are actually fans of him by extention of Zendaya, his gf. But he can't help that. 🤷🏾‍♀️ Their stars happened to rise at the same time due to their Spiderman movie that they were in together. Many fans of Z were fans of her BEFORE she got to the level that she is today though, but it's not a bad thing imo?

And what "serious problems" are there related to Tom exactly? Is he on drugs? Is he wilding out? Does he look depressed? Is he looking homeless? Has he lost a ton of weight in a short amount of time? Is he acting crazy out in these streets? To me, those are "serious problems" and signs that an actor is going through smthg. All the other stuff you've mentioned aren't "serious problems" imo Anon.

Yes, we all want great things for our fave actors, and of course we wish them the best! 😃 But unless there are some serious issues going on in that actor's life, we need to know our place as FANS, and let an actor live his (or her) life! Actors usually only film about 1 or 2 films a year (if THAT), and the rest of the time, they're working bts, negotiating other future projects, promoting current projects, or simply just taking a break. When you're at Tom's level of success, you can afford to take longer breaks if needed. He's been working and going non-stop for over 7 years. If the man wants to take a break, his fans should be okay with that. Jmho 🤷🏾‍♀️

Why are some people bothered by the remote possibility of -even just momentarily- replacing Raja and Raven on fashion photo ruview? they've been running the show for what, 4 years now? don't you think it's time for someone new? Years go by, we get to see new talented queens every year: fans of dr wanna see THOSE queens tooting and booting, the new ones, not two queens who were on tv 10 yrs ago. I'm not being disrespectful, I'm just being realistic. And dont even try and tell me that Raja and Raven are the best fashion queens or any shit like that, cause they're not the only ones. Violet, Aquaria, Miss Fame, Naomi, Pearl, there are soooo many other talented, high-stylish, fierce queens. Just because Raja and Raven were on the show before them you think they're better? thats ridicolous. And as much as I can understand why many of you want Raja to keep hosting the show (cause yeah, she's pretty funny and open-minded and she has an amazing style)... I rly cant understand why you like Raven. I may be a little biased, I dont like her for many reasons, but in all honesty she is the WORST choice for a show like fpr.

And the latest episodes of fpr with them together were horrible. They never have that much chemistry but in the last 4-5 episodes together they were not even trying/pretending. Manila is an actual fashion queen and her relationship with Raja is great. Or Violet? she's a goddess. Aja? Raja often said they're great friends. Idk about other Anons, but I whole-heartedly feel that Zendaya should just do whatever she wants to do. I'm always a full advocate of my faves doing whatever makes THEM happy.

Now this I DEFINITELY agree with. 💯👏🏾 Times were different back then, and like you said, Halle was seen as just BLACK period back then. While Halle most certainly had loads of barriers in Hollywood, she didn't have to navigate things quite the way that Zendaya has to in 2024....where people are faaar more sensitive and find offense in just about every single little thing lol.

Janice - This is probably because I've only seen Janice in a few TOS episodes (I'm only doing a proper start to finish watch of the series now) and thus haven't reached the inevitable het romance, but as far as I'm concerned Janice Rand is a lesbian. If at any point she shows romantic interest in a man it's obviously an elaborate inside joke with Uhura. Janice Rand, very lesbian.

2. OTPS

Malcolm - I don't have one. I don't think Malcolm is the sort of person to want a relationship with a crew member and none of the men on the ship seem like a good romantic match for him. (If Malcolm got a love interest, they should probably be a civilian, more emotionally expressive). If I had to choose an otp Malcolm/Travis might work.

Geordi - I'm not super serious about it but Da Forge is a good ship.

Kes - I don't have any preexisting ideas about Kes' relationships other than "c'mon Neelix be the better person we know you can be," but, to make something up; Kes and B'Elana could be interesting because they're both very passionate and principled people but externally they present themselves very differently: Kes is caring, subtle, and calm whereas B'Elana is expressive, and a bit judgemental. Also Kes's morality is more about caring while B'Elana has a warrior's moral code, resisting injustice.  (There's a running theme in these asks because only interesting character foils can get me interested in romantic plots).

Janice - I enjoy the idea of Uhura/Janice Rand. Both are talented and Janice seems more level on and off duty whereas Uhura is a capable woman but an incorrigible flirt.

3. Brotps:

Malcolm - I would enjoy seeing a Malcolm/Hoshi friendship, mostly because Malcolm is very militaristic whereas Hoshi is more of the Civilian Science Nerd Who Got Swept Up In All this Rubbish. On the whole Enterprise forgot to do what tng/ds9 did well and allow their side characters to actually *gasp* interact, so pretty much any platonic relationship is up for grabs. Malcolm is an interesting character to work in contrasts; his disciplined nature compared to Phlox, or his close to the belt nature compared to Travis' comfort with his roots.

Geordi - Also Data and Geordi; they're so affectionate and supportive. I also really enjoy the dynamic between Picard and Geordi in the tng relaunch novels, considering Geordi is one of the remaining original crew members.

Kes - canonically, Kes and the Doctor all the way. So good. Remember when she extended his flu? Good scene. For an au take, I would enjoy a purely platonic Kes and Neelix friendship. They did have some nice dynamics canonically and I'd like to see a relationship without the squicky romantic possessiveness.

Janice - Rand and Spock. No good justification it's just that Spock goes well with everyone.

4. Notps:

Malcolm - Malcolm/Hoshi, Malcolm/T'pol, Malcolm/Archer. Not really established ships but in my mind each of these pairings are  a Bad Idea.

Geordi - I don't remember any established canon or fan popular relationships that made me cringe, so here's one: Geordi/Q. Awful idea.

Kes - Kes and possessive!Neelix. So many cringe moments

Janice - Rand and every damn person who falls in love with her and then tries to force her into sexual acts against her will why is this a plot multiple times for goodness' sakes. (Also not big at all on the idea of Kirk/Rand).

5. First Headcanon that Pops to Mind:

Malcolm - So based off the pineapple thing, let's say Malcolm has a ridiculous amount of personal experiences he never talks about. Like he had a steady boyfriend back on earth and never brings it up because it's not relevant. If prompted he has all these prank stories but you basically have to drag the information out of him.

Geordi - Geordi is also friends with Felix, who sent the Chief Engineer on Starfleet's flagship a sample program because he knows just how good he is.

Kes - Since Kes starts canonically developing her telekenetic abilities, let's imagine Kes as an absolute telekenetic prankster.

Also, after she leaves Voyager I like to imagine that some of what she got up to would be protecting the vulnerable, considering her past. (I don't think this directly contradicts canon but I actually try to forget that episode).

Janice - Janice Rand is so professional that no one expects her to have wild musical tastes. Like death metal, weird atonal music, lots of instrumentals, music from non-human planets etc*

*My lack of musical knowledge is showing, isn't it.

6. One Way I Relate:

Malcolm - I would also refuse to marry and copulate with my coworkers if we were stranded on a planet in an alternate timeline. My mom is also largely unaware of my food preferences.

Geordi - often interacts with people with an understated sort of humour. I would also subtly lecture ableist aliens and befriend the local android.

Kes - This example is more about admiration than relating, but I really enjoy Kes's compassionate curiosity and the sense of wonder that comes with her character.

Janice - In the episode Charlie X we see her being mature to someone who is A) probably quite traumatized and B) currently sexually harassing her. I relate to that sense of "oh, this situation is kind of worse for me and I'm still going to handle it fairly and levelly because of moral principles and rational empathy." Also even though she's backed into a corner she still tries to pass emotional labour off to Kirk and that's A+. ("Ask the Captain, he'll explain.") I'm sure lots of women (although not all women and not just women) could relate to that.

7. Something that Gives me Second Hand Embarrassment:

Malcolm - I have a distant memory of an episode where Archer, Trip, and Malcolm were all trapped in a pod, thought they were going to die, and Malcolm got about 10% sentimental? That always makes me unjustifiably embarrassed, but I don't even remember if that episode was real, so.

Geordi - nothing? I think Geordi may be the perfect human being?

Kes - the episode where she came back and tried to hurt all her old friends was pretty embarrassing. Also her relationship with Neelix.

Janice - From what I've actually seen of TOS, nothing beyond those damn impractical uniforms. If we have to see people in dresses at least show me Spock in a dress, c'mon.

8. Cinnamon Roll or Problematic Fave?:

Malcolm - I want to call him the problematic fave because he was somewhat militaristic, but nah, cinnamon roll. Let me see only the best in people like some sort of naive federation citizen. (Also Archer made way more questionable decisions and I don't remember enough about Enterprise to say that Reed ever did anything less than an exemplary job).

Geordi - Clear cinnamon roll

Kes - Clear cinnamon roll. No controversy there.

Janice - Definitely a cinnamon roll. Too good for this world.

Hey, a kinda long sunday confession here and I'm struggling to phrase this in a way that doesn't make it sound judgemental or insensitive (because I'm really trying not to be), but ever since tcr filming Tom has seemed to age quite a bit. More obvious crow's feet, wrinkles on his face more pronounced, eyes look more tired...and listen, I know it was ultimately his choice to lose weight for the role and it's normal for wrinkles to be more pronounced and skin to sag after weight loss, but I do feel a little bad sometimes. Clearly filming was very intense emotionally (as he has said) but also physically. Of course he is still VERY handsome and attractive, but it does kinda suck to see a role age him this much and a year later even though he definitely looks healthier the crows feet seem to be sticking around (I guess once wrinkles come they can't really go without surgery). Anyway he's rich so i'm hoping he's spending some of it on some good skincare. Again, looks aren't the end all be all I get that, and I'm trying not to be superficial or anything, especially since most of the reason I'm his fan is because of his talent and personality! But sometimes when I see old pics of him during nwh press or uncharted press vs only a few months later during tcr filming the difference is a little alarming. And as much as I hate to say it hollywood obviously is hollywood so there's a lot of stock in appearances (though as a white man he does have it easier in that regard compared to others ofc and other than comments here and there from the general public I doubt it would affect his career). The dedication Tom puts into his roles is impressive but sometimes I do feel a little bad that his skin hasn't bounced back...and maybe it will and just needs time or it's just the normal aging process for a yt man being sped up a bit lol. Maybe this would have happened regardless of tcr who knows. But sometimes in certain lighting it can be a bit jarring - and maybe that's just because I'm so used to him looking younger than his age in his early 20s. Idk. Anyway, at the end of the day he seems like he's happy and content and confident with himself and that's all that matters I just wanted to ramble a bit :)

Well, I'll be honest, at first I was gonna rip into you lol, but I remembered that your ask was a "Confession Sunday" ask, and towards the end it seems like you were coming from a genuine place of concern, so I won't judge. Thanks for being honest Anon, I'm sure that probably wasn't easy to confess. It's sometimes hard to say anything LESS than favorable about our faves who we love. But I don't think anyone should be judged harshly in the fandom for their honest thoughts and feelings, as long as it's not coming from a place of SHADE. I'll just say that I think that we ALL have different genetics, and some skin tones just age quicker than others...that's just a fact of life lol. Tom is a white British man, with a mom who's a Ginger (red head) lol... I mean..... C'mon... 👀 Like, you kind of have to look at where someone is starting off from lol. 😅

Tom has had crows feet/laugh lines since he was even in his teens lol, so I think they're just genetic?? I mean, obviously, they will probably get more pronounced the older he gets, but I just think he's just always had them tbh. 🤷🏾‍♀️ If you look at even his younger photos, you'll see that I'm right.

I DO know that he lost a significant amount of weight for "Cherry", and I know that sometimes that can have an impact on your aging.... There were times when I really was worried about him during that time. 😭 Then, there were claims (not sure if they were true) that he had fainted in public at one point due to the lack of eating for the role. So yea, I was getting a bit worried. 😔 He also lost some weight (although not AS much) for his role in "The Crowded Room", and honestly, I don't think they really needed him to lose weight?? But I guess they wanted his character to look as meek and mild and young as possible? 🤷🏾‍♀️ It seems that role was emotionally exhausting and a bit crazy for him! (I'm just being totally honest when I say that I hope Tom doesn't take anymore roles where he has to DRASTICALLY lose weight again anytime soon. 😔)

I know that stress can definitely age you! I've even seen some of my other faves go through a hard role, or lose weight to play a character, or go through an arduous awards season, and they've looked so tired and worn out through and through...almost like everything just aged them overnight. 😔 So even emotional stresses, drastic weight loss, or a grueling work schedule can really do a number on your body, your skin, etc.

Anyway.... RE: Tom..... I do get your concern Anon, but he seems like he's looking healthy now! 😊 And honestly??? I don't think the crows feet or laugh lines in his face are a BAD thing tbh.... He's looked like a kid for so long lol, that I think it's actually a good thing that he's looking a bit more mature. 😅 JMHO. I think some fans wanna keep Tom in 2017 when they first fell in love with him in Spider-Man HOCO, but ummm...he was only 21 back then! Tom naturally has a young face, so now that he's looking more "grown", I don't think that's a bad thing per se. 🤔

He's still a very handsome man, and he's rich, so if he ever wanted to get botox or something cosmetic to lessen the creases around his eyes, then I'm sure he has MORE than enough money and resources to do so lol. He's a Brit though, so I don't think their actors worry so much cosmetic-wise about how they look like us Americans lol. 😅 I think there's WAY more pressure here in the US/LA area (especially) to look a certain way than there is overseas. Just my personal observation. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Either way, it's everyone's own personal decision on how they wish to take care of their "canvas", and it's always good to remember that it's what's on the INSIDE of a person that matters most!

Tom seems to be doing AWESOME right now! He's given up alcohol/drinking so much, he's mentioned that he's SLEEPING better, he seems ABUNDANTLY HAPPY, he seems to LOVE his life, he's getting a LONG BREAK from working (a whole YEAR off!), he doesn't seem to be smoking anymore lol, and he just seems overall super happy with life! 😃 I'm really happy and just so proud of him honestly. 🥰 He seems to be glowing to me! So, even though you think he looks more 'tired' these days, he actually seems to be in a much better place than he was just a year ago imo. Plus, he's married to dating Zendaya, and I'm sure she has a TON of facial regimens and creams she can help her hubby out with if he needs it lol. 🤭

This boy has a viral hate every month, either for his filmography, his acting and even the way he dresses. He is ALWAYS compared to other actors of his age for being the only one not to get works recognized by great directors, great awards and etc...

Only the TCR recordings have already generated a massive hate in Tom because of his appearance, if TCR is bad all this hate will triple. They hire an actor because he's TALENTED, because his agent got him some connections, or because he's worked with other actors and directors who sing his praises.

What people say online in message forums or twitter (of all places🙄) doesn't mean a thing to a casting director. Unless you have some real shady stuff about your personal life (like, say JM for example), most casting directors aren't caring what people on film twitter say. Directors care about Talent. Directors and studios care about butts in SEATS. And Tom puts butts in seats.

First of all, if some fans were making fun of Tom's looks during FILMING, then that's just because they're immature. 🙄 Most people know that actors sometimes change their looks from film to film based on what the role they're playing entails. austins dating choice is just lik any other man in the entertainment industry tbh dsnt make it right bt the way he jumped from a long term relationship with an age appropriate woman (a woman who was actually 3 yrs older) to a fling wit a then 22 yr old lily to a then 20 yr old (when he n kaia 1st started dating) is... interesting to say the least.

Like c'mon...I'm not gung ho about the Kaustin Berger rlshp either, but I'm not losing sleep over it....and it's not like she's 20 years younger than him. She's a young adult and is making her own decisions. It's not my business. Her parents seem okay with it (although, that's not really saying much smh🥴)..... As I've said before, Lily and Olivia both seemed like rebounds to me (no offense). No way was he completely over a near-decade long relationship THAT fast. 😄 He was barely with these women. He was still with Vanessa the longest. No way you're completely over a lengthy rlshp THAT quick....even if you were the one who called it off.
