Climax Return  || Trial 1 || Sorakuma || Trial End

[ ♪ ♪ ♪ ]

After the emotional ending to the trial and once the sentiments and goodbyes were complete, Sorakuma stood up on his chair and called out across the Trial hall. All of the agents turned to look at him as he finally started to speak.

“My oh my, how emotional. Isn’t it just spectacular how quickly loyalty can fall and the dark seeds of betrayal can grow? It brings an oily tear to my mechanical eye!”

With that, Sorakuma turned attention to the Screen. On the monitor, the portraits of all 18 of the Agents showed up and a light began to cycle through each of them.

“Voting time is over! Let’s see what the majority came up with huh?”

After about 30 seconds, the screen lit up, showing the number of votes cast.

With that Sorakuma let out a gasp. He cast his paw out towards the Agents and started to cackle loudly.

“So, it seems as if we have a majority! Before we see if you’re correct, let me tell you how the murder went down, from what I saw through my handy dandy security cameras! Ready for this! It’s the Climax!!!”

With that, Sorakuma began to tell everyone how the murder went down.

ACT 1

This case began at 11:45pm. The culprit was sitting in their room when they recieved a mysterious note underneath their door. After reading the note, they realised that it pointed Tsuyoshi Tsukigami out as the mastermind of this killing game. In order to figure out what happened they made their way into Admin Tsukigami’s room. It was there that they discovered the E-Watch Blueprints and Sleeping Gas Invoice, further cementing Admin Tsukigami as the mastermind! With this evidence in mind, the culprit went on the hunt.

ACT 2

The culprit soon discovered Admin Tsukigami in Meeting Room B. Once they confronted them, fueled with anger at the betrayal at his hands, they charged him. Admin Tsukigami defended himself by knocking the culprit into the wall, trying to stop them. This caused a plant pot to knock over! The culprit stood up and grabbed Admin Tsukigami’s Cane that was sitting against the wall. The culprit knew beforehand that this was actually a concealed blade and drew it to attack Admin Tsukigami. They proceeded to attack Striking him three times with the blade, knocking him down. With their attack done, they sheathed the blade and dropped it at their feet where there were bloodstains from the assault.

ACT 3

The culprit and Admin Tsukigami then had a brief conversation, before the culprit got behind them and used a makeshift rope to strangle him, causing him to die from asphyxiation. However, in the onslaught, a button fell off their makeshift weapon, without the culprit noticing. With their deed finished, the culprit then ran to the middle public bathroom to wash the blood from their hands. When they were in there, they crumpled the mysterious note and tossed it in the trash. With the deed done, the culprit returned to their room and the first murder of the killing game was complete!

With his explanation complete, Sorakuma sat down and gestured to the screen behind him.

Haruji couldn’t continue to refute all of the accusations being thrown at him. He scraped through this trial by omission long enough, and now... from all of the angry eyes on him, the threats being leveled -- 

He crumpled beneath them. He folded his arms over his head and let out a low whine as Akira spoke. Haruji waited for him to finish, or sort of hoped he wouldn’t stop talking, because... Because after this, he couldn’t afford to be silent anymore. Yet the words he had to say burned at the back of his throat. 

If anyone tried to interrupt with another scathing comment this time, Haruji silenced them with his admittedly soft interjection: “Enough.”

He took in a deep breath, then slowly began to speak.

“The tea... i-it was only one pill. N-not enough to k-kill anyone.  I put the same amount... i-in both cups. Takao di-idn’t die... and neither did Hokusai-san or Sato-san.” You know, when they ‘tried it out’ during the investigation... for whatever reason. “...I didn’t drug Suishou-san’s or Akira-kun’s. I s-swear it... I really didn’t... He just wanted -- he couldn't... he wouldn't be able to... Takao... Takao, so... Akira-kun could take the pistol..."

“...I didn’t k-kill her. The d-dosage... wasn’t fatal... s-she was just... tired... I already said, what k... kil...” 

Haruji choked on the word, then held his face in his hands as he cried.

“Akira... I’m s-sorry. He said, h-he would take care of it...”

He sniffled into his sleeve and wiped his tears away. 

“And I... I wasn’t near her at all. When they were in the t-teahouse together... I was in the main hall, talking to Shimada-san. Then I... I was with Tsuneko-san until 11:20... they’re both capable of c-corroborating me...”

“A-after that... he... I-- I... I went to the training grounds, to see if he..., and-- she...” 

“...I’m sorry...”

Haruji bowed his head, then ended up depending on his podium to support his weight as he leaned against it and curled into himself.

Then pewish. || Trial 2 || Tapani || RE: Tsuneko ATTN: everyone with a brain

Tapani had been staring at the list of loved ones for a while now. He wasn't worried for gramps, no. He knew the old coot could easily break a few junk Monokumas over his knee and run away if shit got real, but he was far more concerned for everyone else on that list. People were going to die... And that wasn't even counting the number of OTHER people. It'd be selfish to simply think about the people /he/ or everyone else here loved.

He had to be serious.

"T-Technically... W-Working with the killer c-can be beneficial." He gulped loudly at his own words. "Let's s-say, for an example, t-that the accomplice... Wasn't an a-accomplice originally. T-They were just s-someone... Who happened t-to see the d-deed. Maybe someone who w-walked in on it, o-or something like that... A-And decided to help t-the killer out."

Tapani had been thinking about this possibility for a while. All the scattered evidence, all the odd things relating to the location of the corpse, the sheer fact that it'd be an inconvenience to drag the body around alone and without cover...

"B-Because they wanted to s-save their loved ones. T-The accomplice, if t-they existed, w-would not know w-where their loved one was... B-But it'd be a 50% or s-so chance to be t-the same town w-where the k-killer's l-loved one was, r-right? A 50% c-chance that... T-The killer would save w-whoever you loved... T-Their s-success would be. O-Optimal for t-the accomplice."

Of course, this was all just a theory he'd been cooking up, but the more he thought about it, it seemed valid to his peanut brain. He swallowed loudly and glanced about.

"... S-Someone saw the d-dead corpse b-before A-Akira and S-Suishou, a-after all... T-That'd support the idea... Of the a-accomplice seeing it first..." Tapani chewed on his lip. "B-But I'm not just g-going to present w-wild theories, I'm. I'm s-sorry, um, I also h-had something of a-actual value..."

He nervously went through the evidence until he found the file he was looking for, nodding to himself as he presented it.

"D-Does anyone know what... L-Liquid nitrogen d-does? There w-was a lot of it a-around the corpse, a-and um... I was w-wondering if it did a-anything to alter the s-state of the corpse?" Tapani looked about and chewed his lip. "... I didn't d-do well with chemistry back in s-school, so... Um. I-If anyone s-smarter knew, I'd a-appreciate it..."
