OC most likely
tagged by @the-inkwell-variable, thank you! i’ll do these for claws since it’s my only modern wip that fits the questions (and also i love those horrid idiots)
Rules: Choose one of your OCs that best matches the given statement, and briefly explain why.
[ID - a red and black decorative divider]
Who is more likely to go out to eat rather than cook?
Rainier's a lazy fuck who likes nice things but can't be bothered to put in the effort to learn how to make them, plus he's rich as shit so he can do what he wants.
Who prefers Vine over Tiktok (or vice versa)?
Vivien only knows tiktok, because he's too young to have been around for vine outside of compilation videos.
(Rainier never used vine but he 100% uses tiktok just to make thirst traps and gets away with it because he's hot enough that it cancels out most kinds of cringe)
Who hoards candles they will never use but cannot part with?
Making a surprise debut because she never normally shows up in answer to anything: Holly! If she sees a pretty candle with a nice scent it's going in her basket, end of. They're used as decor all over her home, but she mostly burns incense.
[ID - a red and black decorative divider]
no-pressure tagging @zmwrites @memento-morri-writes and @chauceryfairytales - your questions are:
Who cannot be trusted in a bookstore with someone else's money?
Who is most likely to actually call someone on their birthday?
Who takes the longest amount of time between waking up and starting the day?

Currently watching: every f*cking John Waters movie I can get my grubby hands on
Three ships: uhhhh okay Kaye x Roiben (Holly Black’s Tithe series), oh god this is actually kind of hard. Rupert x Gerald (Women in Love), Miguel x Tulio (sometimes x Chel, it depends on whether my analysis of the movie on any given day concludes that Miguel would also be into her) (Road to El Dorado). I also hate-ship Otto and Bethany from Clive Barker’s Undying just because I want to watch them subterfuge and conspire against each other while using each other, and then put them in a jar and shake them just to see what happens

Aesthetic - describe your ideal winter aesthetic. Balaclava - do you like wearing hats? what’s your go-to? Dance - what’s your favorite winter or Christmas song? Growth - what are you looking forward to in the new year? Joy - what’s your favorite part about this time of year? Lights - do you like decorating? Loved - no question, just remember that you’re loved! Read - what’s your favorite book you’ve read this year? Sugarplum - do you have a favorite holiday time dessert? xoxo
Aesthetic - describe your ideal winter aesthetic. My fondest 'winter aesthetic' memories are of snow days and especially snow nights. When I was a winsome stripling, it might have snowed a few times each year, often in the night, and I'd go out in nothing more substantial than my cardigan and jeans and amble wondrously in it for hours and hours and hours till I was hardly sensible to myself. There's nothing like snowfall's quiet, nothing like the dark of night against a constant, joyful flurry, nothing like so much life lived in one long, magical evening. Several times in my life, we've had a blizzard or ice storm, and the world's been frozen over, locked in the sheen and clasp of endless white winter, for a week or two at a stretch; those were very special, dreamlike times.
Balaclava - do you like wearing hats? what's your go-to? I'm just shy of 6'7" with a mass of thick loose-curly hair so almost no hats fit my head. The couple I've found that do fit, I'm exceedingly fond of. There was a cloth cap made of bright, patterned patches that I can't find that I liked a lot. And I have a "long beanie" (very hip skater of me) to keep me warm if it's cold.
Dance - what’s your favorite winter or Christmas song? My one true tune is 'In the Bleak Midwinter' of Rossetti and Holst. Others are 'The Holly and the Ivy' 'Rejoice and be Merry' 'Angels from the Realms of Glory' 'Coventry Carol' 'Good King Wenceslas' (best one for caroling b/c you can BELT it and laugh about it) 'Hark the Harald Angels Sing' 'Illuminare, Jerusalem' b/c it captures the mystery side of Christmas, 'Wexford Carol' done all gentle and dulcet, Auld Lang Syne, obvs.
Growth - what are you looking forward to in the new year? Recovery, rest, recuperation.
Joy - what’s your favorite part about this time of year? The extra awareness of the good in the world.
Lights - do you like decorating? I like the decorations, but I'm not fond of unpacking them, putting them out, or putting them back up. If I ever had my own decorations and my own house, I'd almost certainly enjoy it all then.
Loved - no question, just remember that you’re loved! A warn handshake, my dearest hort.
Read - what’s your favorite book you’ve read this year? Life and Fate! A new translation of Eugene Onegin! Barker's 'The Brontes' (superb)! Laurie Lee's 'As I Walked Out One Midsummer Morning'! 'Doctor Thorne'! Yeats' 'The Celtic Twilight'! MacDonald's 'Unspoken Sermons'! Le Carre's 'The Night Manager'! I continue to read 'The Tale of Genji'! 'Little Dorrit'! More and more Chesterton! I've been rereading 'The Pallisers' series (such an undertaking; very Genji-like, in fact).
Sugarplum - do you have a favorite holiday time dessert? Figgy pudding! I could write an ode to figgy pudding. Mincemeat pies! Gingerbread bikkies!

Little White Chapel, 1301 Las Vegas Blvd - est. 1954
The chapel was built by Arvid and Neva Barnhart in 1954 and operated by Neva’s mother Lorene King in its early years. Charolette Richards bought the chapel from the Barnharts in '81, expanded in the 90s, and operated the chapel until selling to Vegas Weddings in 2022.
The original chapel built in 1954 still exists with several additions on the property in the Richards years: The flower shop next door was demolished in the late 80s and replaced in ‘91 with a small office building and the “Tunnel of Love” drive-through. In the mid 90s they acquired the neighboring property at 1299 LVBS and replaced it in ‘99 with a new chapel, flower shop, and office building.
Charolette Richards proved to be a master promoter. Her drive-through earned the chapel its fame. Other efforts included “A Little Chapel in the Sky” a hot-air balloon chapel, and weddings in a hospital, on a roller coaster, at the finish line of Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and in a helicopter (“Too noisy, not a bit romantic,” she said). She was dubbed “Wedding Queen of the West” by Las Vegas Woman magazine in ‘92. Richards owned the chapel until 2022, and died in 2023.
About the opening date: The chapel has used the tagline “since ‘51” in recent years. However, the Barnhart family states the chapel was built in 1954, a date supported by all of the earliest public records of the chapel. Whether the chapel was built from an existing house is unclear. Clark County’s Assessor record dates the chapel even later at ‘55.
Charolette Richards was ex-wife of Merle Richards who owned Little Church of the West until the 80s. Mr. and Mrs. Richards also opened Algiers’ Little Church. Mrs. Richards many interviews often blurred the details of her long history in the chapel business. Some of the reports have erroneously stated that Richards opened the chapel. In an interview with Vintage Las Vegas in 2021, she could not recall the date she bought the chapel. The Barnhart family stated the chapel was sold to Richards in ‘81.

The M-E-T-H-O-D Of The M-E-R-C-A-T-O Man
Gabe Barker is the offspring of culinary royalty, JBF Award winners Karen and Ben Barker. Hear how Gabe created a farm to table "neapolitan style" pizza. Pizza with a thin crust but a New York chew. Chef Gabe has taken advantage of his roots to become a chef with a 360 degree of his food and his business. Everything inside of Pizzeria Mercato is meticulously considered, from the bread to the guest.
Also-hear why;
Octopus is a sentient being and needs to be cooked very carefully
How to cook/create with a 31 year old sourdough starter
How to gift your child a dynamic palate
How to get kissed on the lips by Gabe Barker
