Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā leksa knows this sentiment all too well. all her life sheā€™s been told to hold in her grief and MISERY. to be commander was to be strong and show no weakness. as time dragged on, she learned to compartmentalize those emotions and most of her FEELINGS as well. now, miles above the earth, all she can do is look down as the sinking feeling in her stomach triumphs. a single tear is shed, slowly making its descent, but she makes no attempt to wipe away the evidence. any fear of vulnerability is vanquished by the sudden swell of emotions bubbling within her. she reflects on what has been taken from her over the years: her family, mentor, beloved, Ā herĀ role in this world and her home.Ā

26 & 27 for the salty ask list please? šŸŒø (feel free to include whatever charas you feel the strongest abt, regardless of fandom)
Most shippable character?
See, whenever I'm deep in a fandom that has a large cast of characters I like, I multiship like I'm being paid to do it. Once the hyperfixation goes away and I move on to other things most of the ships fade from my mind and only the Peak OTPs remain.
So rn it's, as I said, all about detective comics comics and The 100. In the latter, I'm multishipping about as much as I did the first time I watched. The characters I find most shippable are Raven Reyes and Echo kom Azgeda. It's in part because they have quite a few great dynamics with other characters (and especially each other!), but also because canon disappointed me on the romantic front with both of them. They each had a shot at a really good ship; with the same guy, actually, though at different times. But his character degenerated SO MUCH that by the time he was unceremoniously killed off I didn't want him near anyone I cared about lmao.
Contrast this with two of my other favourite characters, Emori and Murphy, who have an incredibly satisfying romance that canon completely sold me on, and thus, even though I do dabble in some multishipping (Raven would be a great third, just sayin'), in my heart they're only for each other.
I say this because it's a good point of comparison with DC: when I find myself deeply satisfied by a canon romance, I can only see it. It's when I really like a character but I feel that canon fails to deliver what I'd consider A Grand Romance for them that I start collecting my little rareships lmfao.
That 'verse complicates it even more to all the different canons, i.e. my OTP for Dick Grayson is Zatanna in the Young Justice cartoon. But in the comics I don't have that type of definite pairing for him, and I rotate various dynamics that I simply enjoy to see written well, none of which I see as fully OTP material: Helena (Bertinelli!!!), Koriand'r (as little as I've read), Barbara (with caveats. Sooo many caveats), Jessie Quick, Roy, Joey Wilson... he's just a very shippable character with quite a lot of interesting dynamics all around, even if none of them have fully won me over.
On the other hand you have Jason Todd. His "shippability" is less about what's presented in canon than about finding a way to ENHANCE canon lol. Basically, I'm beginning to grow curious about reading about my special little guy being put in romantic situations, BUT I find canon largely lacking on this front. Which means that at some point, when I have more time to explore and read fic, I'll probably be seeking shippy examples that a.) don't involve one of the few ships I reallyreallyreally can't stand (either because they give me the ick or because I think Jason Would Never Do That AKA Fuck That Bore xDD); b.) come with a premise that catches my eyes; c.) include a well-written, interesting portrayal of Jason that's not at odds with my views on him.
Least shippable character?
For The 100, the guy I mentioned, Bellamy. I used to lowkey ship him with quite a few people! Then I hated him and it poisoned everything xD
For DC, barring some of the villains I find endlessly aggravating (Joker, Black Mask)... I'm picking reboot!Barbara. Idk that woman but I know I have zero interesting in seeing her in a romantic context, even with characters with whom I shipped the older version of her.

Echo mirrored Bellamy's actions, crossing her arms over her chest as she studied him with one raised eyebrow. He had been acting surlier ever since she'd told him about her new boyfriend, Roan. Which was why she had invited him out to the coffee shop to get to the bottom of it.
"Bell, I'm not going to abandon you. You're one of my oldest friends - the plans we make are set in stone. Roan has to work around you, not the other way around. Got it?" Because Echo was loyal to her friends, and if she had to choose between Bellamy and Roan, it would be Bellamy every time. Even if Roan did have some pretty impressive muscles.

still utterly obsessed with how much love there is between Echo and Emori, how Echo was the one Emori looked too and made her second guess her decision to become immortal without her family, how Emori was the first to comfort her when she was missing Bellamy, how Echo smiles at her so openly and accepts her hugs, how Emori is concerned for her over her own life
how there are so many moments that just show us how utterly comfortable and affectionate with each other they are, how much they love and care for each other
because it would have been so easy for them to hate each other, for the prejudices and biases and hatred of their culture to get in the way and turn them against each other. it would have been so easy for Echo to think less of Emori, to be uncomfortable with her at best and hateful of her at worst and for Emori to be defensive and hateful back
but they WERENā€™T
they just clearly love and accept each other so much and I love it

lol bellarke have two adopted kids now although one is near their age I think he may actually be more innocent than Madi.
IDK. Heā€™s more sheltered, but I kinda wish people would stop treating him like a child. Yes, he was alone his whole life, but heā€™s still a man. I think treating grow men like children is creepy.Ā
But we turn characters intoĀ ā€œour children.ā€Ā  Well, I donā€™t. And I never did, not even before I had children or taught them. So thatā€™s a thing Iā€™m not really comfortable with.Ā
Anonymous said:They named their son Jordan jasper green! This is emotional manipulation at its best.. cries forever
Oh they know what theyā€™re doing.
Anonymous said:I just love that Madiā€™s cryo-pod says ā€œMadi Griffinā€.
That makes it official. Sheā€™s her mom. Thatā€™s adopted. Family.
Please note there is no last name for Echo. a. not official. b. her storyline of belonging is still continuing. c. she could have named herself blake or kom azgeda or kom skaikru but she didnā€™t. d. not resolved.
Also, Octavia is back to Octavia Blake, no blodreina or osleya or skairipa. Will we get octavia back? That sign says chances are good.

Unfiltered sweary mess: 507 edition
I had thoughts so I decided to this again. Letā€™s hope it doesnā€™t become a habit.
Letā€™s start with the Bellarke of it all, and the sheer joy of seeing them hustle up a plan together on the fly. AND LISTEN I am not on the #bellamysucksnow train, or the #bellarkeisdead train either and as such fair warning there is squee incoming. It feels like the core of the show has returned to us after s4ā€™s barren years and IT IS GREAT. And honestly? I donā€™t care that romance isnā€™t in the air between them RIGHT NOW. I thought I would mind but I donā€™t. It feels right. It feels true to Bellamy, and it feels true to Clarke, and it feels exactly like the vibe Iā€™d expect and want between two characters who love and respect each other and their choices, who have been apart for so long and need to reconnect. Letā€™s do right by Clarke and Bellamy, yeah? Weā€™ve waited for 4 seasons (the last of which gave us sweet fa) we can wait a little longer.
And seriously, even if it turns out they are just beautiful co-leaders with a lot of professional respect for each other (yeah RIGHT) they could never, ever kill that relationship for me as long as they are in scenes together like this. I donā€™t care if they donā€™t bang (call me out on my lies someone), but the concurrent Bellarke scenes in the dining hall, and the triffid room, and then on Echo-watch just gave me so many OTP vibes. Bellarke are at their most effective when theyā€™re together, even better when they have the support of their genius friends. And we got a return of the Bellarke dry-as comedy double act WTF @the100writersroom are you trying to be good at your jobs or something.
Top bantz, as weā€™d say in Essex.
Too bad the Bellarke unity ainā€™t gonna last, but thankfully, Bellarke are just as awesome when they are justā€¦very angry and exasperated with each other ok, but DONā€™T HURT YOUR PRECIOUS SELF I MAY BE FURIOUS BUT WHEN DID YOU LAST SLEEP AND DO YOU NEED SOMETHING TO EAT
Great to have Monty back in the frame cutting through everyoneā€™s bullshit. I thought heā€™d been relegated to a bit part this season. Oh ye of little faith. Does anyone realise that Monty is the biological weapon earth forgot? Put that angry face in a room with Octavia and see how long it takes for her to crack and wither from Montyā€™s externalised disappointment with everyone and everything.
Bellamy burning Octavia ow ow ow. Iā€™ve already spoken about this at some length but damn that hurt. And it was deserved, but still spoke to the depth of his contempt for Blodreina.
Which brings me toā€¦BELLARKE V BLODREINA: GRUDGE MATCH
And man, was this grudge match some time coming. To make sure the audience was VERY CLEAR on EVERYONEā€™S MORAL STANDING, the show helpfully prepped us with some little reminders that Bellamy helped commit a massacre, and Clarke did a load of horrible human testing in Beccaā€™s lab last season. Thanks show.
So, all armed and loaded, the mud slinging began, and boy was it awesome. Ā First of all Bellarke takes Octavia to task about the worms and TURNS OUT OCTAVIA DIDNā€™T KNOW which get a grip on power here Octavia because itā€™s slipping from your grasp faster than you can say Wonkru Barbecue (shoutout to @mego42 ā€“ your time is coming). But Miller obviously watched the earlier part of the show and recapped for Octavia just in time because sheā€™s ready for that shit and fires everyoneā€™s dark past back at them. Cue: Bellamyā€™s best frowny face and Eliza Taylorā€™s saddest, most regretful Clarke eyes.
Bellarke disarmed and cowed (for now) live to fight another war they donā€™t want to fight.
But Octaviaā€™s grudge match continues in her office when Indra enters with the intention of being reasonable, which is exactly the kind of shit Blodreina has warned her about before so help her god.
Indra is, obviously, the Queen of Everything and My Heart and delivers some bitchass Truths as Indra is wont to do and Octavia rewards her by throwing what my mind remembers as a skull but was probably a paperweight because why would Octavia have a skull in her office *nervous laughter*
Indra leaves, still Queen of Everything and My Heart, but not before delivering a portentous warning about losing yourself in the dark, which obviously Octavia is not going to listen to because DAUGHTERS, MAN.
Talking of daughters, Madi trying to suck at training was the most adorbs thing Iā€™ve seen in a long time, guys and I am subscribed to a LOT of cat blogs. And man I felt for her. Sucking at anything sucks, and sucking on PURPOSE is just the height of unfair. And sheā€™s in a new school! And the other kids are mean! And maybe they eat people!
Serious question though: from whence did Madi learn her swordswomanship? Clarke? Helios? Roan? (too soon?).
But donā€™t blame Clarke, Madi! Clarkeā€™s Madi feels are pretty much on a par with mine which means she wants to cry every time she looks at her earnest little face AND CLARKE I FEEL THAT SO HARD YOUR BABY IS ADORABADASS. Which also means MAMA MODE ACTIVATED when Vodka Aunt Octavia starts messing up that precious braid she put in Madiā€™s hair earlier.
Hey Vodka Aunt, you donā€™t just get to come in here and make executive choices about Madiā€™s career, especially given your past efforts at parenting *looks at Ethan*
Oh, oh, oh and WE GOT A RETURN OF THE MUSICAL INTERLUDE! It was like Knocking on Heavenā€™s Door and Early Seasons feels all over again. But I gotta say Jason, fresh from the Sense8 finale my musical interlude expectations are higher these days and I was a bit disappointed there wasnā€™t a dance off. Perhaps an orgy or an endgame B/C/E triad instead? *Wanheda jaw clench*
But anyway that whole sequence of Clarke sending Madi off to her first day of training sent me in to a spiral of sadness that lasted for a lot of minutes I wasnā€™t counting. It was very sad and I am sad about it. Poor Clarke. Ā Just as well Octavia helped her remember sheā€™s motherfucking Wanheda.
MY GIRL ECHO MY GIRLING UP THE HOUSE.
Letā€™s just take a moment to appreciate what a babe Echo kom Spacekru nee Azgeda is. Ā First of all: EVIDENCE OF SPACE GIRL SQUAD and I am all here for that. Second of all Echo is officially the first person on the show to get one over of Colonel Charmaine Diyoza SOMEONE GET ME A FUCKING SHOT.
And listen up everyone who bashes at their keyboards dribbling with rage about the things other women like on television: I love ladies with swords and if you want an apology for that youā€™ll have to prise it out of my cold dead body. But can we just take a (second) moment to appreciate that for all of Echoā€™s badass sword skills, she is Clarke Griffining up this joint like a motherfucker. Echo is as Slytherin as Clarke and as sneaky as Clarke and as smart as Clarke and that manoeuvre she executed with Zeke and Raven was 100% a Clarke Griffin move, donā€™t @ me.
Itā€™s almost likeā€¦.theyā€™re similarā€¦.on purposeā€¦.
Shout out to all the smart, insecure girls who arenā€™t sure if they belong. Learn to swordfight, use your brain, and get yourself a girl squad and a soft space dad boyfriend.
Sidebar: Clarkeā€™s faith that Echo would take the eye down and her admiration when she does will keep me in Clecho feels for months.
But friendsā€¦I am the most fervent of Echo stans and Becho shippers and I am AFEARED. She is very much circling the abyss here and it gives me a sick feeling in my stomach. I believe Raven will forgive her (FOR WHAT CAN SOMEONE PLS ENLIGHTEN ME AS TO WHAT RAVEN IS SO PISSED ABOUT??) and I believe the rest of Spacekru will 100% understand what she did because it was presented to us as an understandable choice. Ā But but butā€¦ whatā€™s next? Ā Diyoza ainā€™t gonna take the turn the other cheek approach to learning that Echo took down her eye in the sky. What if her next move is to make *Echo* her eyes in exchange for safe passage for Spacekru?
*sweats forever*
That seems like a Diyoza move. And likeā€¦where would that leave Echo with Bellamy? Her choice would be: tell him and risk the whole mission and/or turn him into a lying liar to his sister too, or not tell him and risk their entire relationship and hurt him very badly. I think I know which one my loyal girl would choose and how that would end.
Tumblr media
Fuck fuck fuck fuckity fuck fuck fuck.
*ugly crying*
Iā€™m not ready.
Okay itā€™s time for a Raven rant. What the hell is going on with Raven this season? Raven has had some beautifully executed arcs in the past, and I am high key here for her to finally get some NC-17 action now sheā€™s done all that Work On Herself, but if Ravenā€™s arc in s5 amounts to RAVEN DIDNā€™T GET BONED FOR 6 YEARS AND NOW SHEā€™S GETTING BONED then Imma flip a table.
Sidebar#2 obviously Raven got boned on the Ring, itā€™s not like they would have had a space orgy without her, come ON.
And justā€¦ Iā€™m sorry I donā€™t get the Zaven. When they released the s5 pics I thought WOWZA these two are gonna be gr9 together and LOOK HEā€™S A SPACE EXPLORER. How could this possibly go wrong? Ā But somehow, theyā€™ve managed to introduce a character who, on his own, is 10x as compelling as Wick, but has about -100% of the chemistry with Raven. Which is???? Some kind of alchemy??? how has that happened? I love Zeke! I love Raven!!! Theyā€™re both MAGNETIC on screen. On paper they should be a perfect fit but itā€™s like whenever theyā€™re in the same scene together I have the sudden urge to check my emails.
And someone, please, just tell me what work Zaven is doing for either of these characters. Whatā€™s Ravenā€™s conflict? How does Zeke resolve it? Is it *literally* Raven being presented with a hot dude with a similar skill set? Sorry Iā€™m out.
And before anyone comes at me with the usual packet of whining about how Echo has stolen all of Ravenā€™s screentime, Iā€™d beg you all to remember that there is no law saying that one womanā€™s time on tv has to be at the expense of another and this is a GIANT SEXIST TRAP DO NOT FALL FOR IT.
Talking of out, Kabby is also circling the drain and [averts eyes from discourse].
But Iā€™m calling Diyozaā€™s ship name, and if she bangs Kane I hereby pronounce it TEQUILA [whatever Kaneā€™s ship name is, someone hmu].
OK I need to talk about Gaia now before I get shot down by a thunderbolt. The girl creeps me tf out but I SOMEHOW LOVE HER NOW. This is new and unnerving because feverish religious types are not usually my jam ESPECIALLY if they present Clarkeā€™s daughter with a creepy sacred flash drive that they want to insert in her neck, but somehow Tati Gabrielle nails that line, even if my reaction seeing the Flame was exactly the same as my reaction to seeing the worms.
But I believe Gaiaā€™s intentions, while creepy, are pure. And WHO PICKED UP on how fluid her loyalty is? She will serve Blodreina faithfully as long as she reigns. Huh.
In other news McCreary, and more importantly McCrearyā€™s undercut, were absent from this episode I hope they are both enjoying Memoriā€™s couples counselling retreat. I look forward to seeing his glazed expression next week as I cry my Becho tears.

The soft kiss soothes the ache in Echo's chest, but she knows it will never be erased. Not completely. She is still the things she has done: blood on her hands. Death on her tongue. She will always be a spy. Always hear Nia's voice in her head, drilling her, chastising her. Rarely praising. But maybe, in this...thing she has found with Bellamy, out in the dead reaches of space, she'll uncover a new side of herself.
Turn the page. Don't look back.
"Do you think we'll ever get back?" Echo asks, Bellamy's words invoking another question. She pulls away to look into his eyes, wanting to see the honesty there. The truth. "Do you think Raven will get us there?"

Why in the world did we all accept this lie that Echo is stoic and hides her emotions? I know Iā€™ve written that into stuff too, but honestly itā€™s not really true. Echo isnā€™t very open with expressing her emotions, but she is not all that hard to read. When sheā€™s scared, sheā€™s pretty openly scared. When she thought she killed Octavia, she looked distraught.
You know what, no wonder Tasya was thrown by Jason telling her not to cry when Spacekru finds out about Monty and Harper. Echo would ABSOLUTELY cry. She might not want to talk about it, but Echo is very expressive.
Stoic/hard-to-read Echo is out. Itā€™s not canon and Iā€™m rejecting it.Ā Ā

Do you like Echo? I really want to now that she's a regular but I can't shake my wariness of her. It seems like she's constantly in the antagonistic role for our mains, but then she'll look sad for like 2secs and people will feel bad for her. But I don't. Do you feel me? Im open to her changing and growing with the spacekru, and I hope I like her character next season. But as of right now I don't understand the fascination some people seem to have of her.
An Egregiously Extensive Echo Essay
Iā€™m gonna throw this wild analogy at you: Echo kom Azgeda is James Bond.
She is a dangerous, beautiful, ruthlessly loyal spy. She serves the queen (or king) and has to kill a lot of people. Fanatically loyal, always gets the job done. She gets captured, she makes allies, she lies to people, she gets friendly with the enemy and then later has to fight them or kill them to save her country.
bad difference: she doesnā€™t get to have smokinā€™ sex with the enemy officer (yet)
good difference: she feels actual, on-screen, sincere regret and anguish for deaths that she knows are necessary for her people but will nonetheless cause pain to someone she respects. I donā€™t think Iā€™d personally seen a movie with genuine anguish from James Bond until Casion Royale came out.
So James Bond is a superhero if youā€™re British, but if youā€™re Russian or Communist or you work for a well-paying criminal mastermind, heā€™s basically like a horrific monster who kills your friends and blows up your factory and keeps your homeland from winning the cold war either militarily or economically. Either way, a loyal killer lapdog of the monarchy.
Thatā€™s Echo. If you look at where sheā€™s coming from, even the fact that Bellamy helped her once isnā€™t enough to counteract the belief from her people and her queen that the Sky People represent an extreme danger to the clans and to Ice Nation. So they betray Lexa (who they see as an unfit conqueror anyway), and take out the enemy stronghold (Mt. Weather). To do that, Echo lies to a man who helped her once and saved her life. Yes, itā€™s a cruel and terrible thing to do. Ā Yes, heā€™d be in his rights to hate her forever. But that doesnā€™t make Echo any less of a hero to her people.
((sorry this is getting long, soā€¦. behind the cut))
The way I see The 100, the show goes to extreme lengths to show that everyone has motivations for evil acts. Most of the time, those motives start out ā€œgoodā€ (such as self-defense, protection of community, stopping cruelty). Ā In a few cases, it becomes evil when A) the harm done so vastly counterbalances any possible rational good (Dante), B) when someone is just a total sadist (Cage), or C) when ego and neglect and vanity cause the literal apocalypse (Becca/ALIE). Echo does not meet the standards of either A, B, or C. None of the major Grounder characters do (maaaaaybe Luna? !SQUIRREL!). Ā Anyway, Echo, like our main characters Clarke, Bellamy, Kane, Jaha, etcā€¦ sheā€™s done terrible things to protect and serve her people. Ā I donā€™t hate or even dislike her character for that. She just isĀ a character in this universe. And I certainly adore Bellarke, who have done as bad or worse than Echo for the same reason, so I canā€™t point fingers on the whole military actions thing.
We didnā€™t get to really know Echo until this season, and I think the show tried hard to put a lot of character building in while not forgetting about what theyā€™d used her for in the past. They did anā€¦ adequate job. Thereā€™s definitely stuff that could have been handled in a smoother or more complex manner, but at the end of the season Iā€™m generally satisfied with how they brought her into the regular cast. Weak episodes aside, there were several of her scenes I liked, and plenty of points at which I felt sympathy for her, just as you mention in your ask. Ā
The biggest thingĀ I had wrt Echo going into season 4 wasĀ ā€œHow is her relationship with Bellamy going to be handled?ā€ Ā Because I stan that guy, and she did him dirty.Ā She did him as badly as Lexa did Clarke, except no one was there to intervene and save the sky people this time. I was pretty frustrated with their dynamic in the first half of s4, especially 401, because I thought their scenes really underplayed the anger that Bellamy ought to have been feeling. Ā And then again in 405, their pivotal conversation didnā€™t feel successfully dramatic to me because I was just askingĀ ā€œWHEN IS BELLAMY GOING TO BE MAD ABOUT STUFF?ā€ Like, Echo was a pivotal agent in a plot that got his friends and lover killed, she lured him into a potential bloodbath to disrupt a peace summit, she held a sword to Clarkeā€™s throat, she mortally injured Octavia, and she advocated for war with Skaikru. Even if Echo was just protecting her own nation, itā€™s incomprehensible that Bellamy wouldnā€™t be angry that she used their past shared trauma to personally manipulate him. And then like, basically assassinated his sister.
For most of s4, I was likeĀ ā€œ????????ā€ about how this was going, but that was more about Bellamy>>Echo than about Echo the character. Luckily, 410 went a LONG way to fix that for me. In 410, we finally saw Bellamyā€™s rage. I normally am not here for guys choking women on TV but in this unique case it felt really earned as a climactic fight. He almost kills her the same way they killed Lovejoy, the same way Murphy and then ChippedKane almost killed him. I cheered cause WOOOO DRAMA.Bellamy found out Echo was interfering and would try to assassinate his sister AGAIN, so he tried to kill her and his violence took on a form that is indicative of his lessons on the ground. We saw him finally let out that rage that was suppressed during their earlier encounters.
Iā€™m glad he didnā€™t kill her, and she didnā€™t kill him, but I think they needed to come close. They needed that release, so the real forgiveness could come. Weā€™ve seen Bellamy forgiveā€“or at least live withā€“the people who tried to kill him or his loved ones before (Pike, Murphy, Jaha, Kane). Bellamy at his heart is a loving person who is damaged by anger, not made strong by it. Forgiving Echo at least enough to help her survive is absolutely in character for him at this point in the story. Thatā€™s what makes him a heroic protagonist. Being a protector is a core trait for both him and Clarke, and part of why theyā€™re ultimately so compatible. Ā Does that mean Bellamy could fall for Echo? Ehhhā€¦ Theyā€™re in a fairly unique situation and I wouldnā€™t take sex off the table. I think a delicate strange friendship will come about. But I highly doubt heā€™d actually fall in love with her. If I was shipping them, thatā€™s a really complex dynamic to write a ton of fanfic about. As Iā€™m not, I donā€™t care.
ā€œDo you feel me? Im open to her changing and growing with the spacekruā€
Anon, I have to say that nope, i do not feel you on this. Specifically, I donā€™t think she has toĀ ā€œchangeā€ if ā€˜changeā€™ means to go from being a bad person to a good person. From the POV of her journey, she did the right thing by her people every step of the way until 410. The conclave was the first time she went outside her orders and did a dishonorable thing to save her people. Ironically, the Skaikru did the exact same thing that very same evening. A lot of people cheated at that event. But why it mattered to Echoā€™s character is that honor was the heart of her storyā€“and it was honorable, to her mind, to kill in defense of her nation in s3 and s4. But when she let her fear and distrust drive her to break the rules of this (totally outrageous fucking bonkers) murder game, she violated her own honor. Roan came down hard on her for that, because Roan happens to care a lot about honor when it comes to fighting, I guess. Echo went too far in 410ā€“just as Clarke and Jaha and Miller did. Just as Bellamy has before, as Lexa has before. She was punished for it, essentially ordered to die in a few days time.
I donā€™t look at Echoā€™s character and see a bad person who needs to learn to care about thingsā€“Echo clearly cared about a fucking LOT. It just wasnā€™t what our mains cared about. Echo did have to learn a lesson about when to have restraint, but then thatā€™s what everyone on the show has had to learn. Other than that, her being in a antagonist role has been entirely a function of plot on the show. The plot was that she worked for the enemy. Otherwise, she is pretty similar to our heroes, only taller.Ā
We did see, at several points this season, that Echoā€™s fierce loyalty to Roan and the Ice Nation caused her anguish when it came to betraying Bellamy. She was fully aware of what heā€™d done for her, and that between them personally he didnā€™t deserve to be so horrifically betrayed. To be a little callous, thatā€™s more genuine visible remorse than we ever saw from Lexa or Pike orā€“check this outā€“Emori. As a viewer, I feel like weā€™ve been given enough material to see her position and to understand where she comes from. Iā€™m content with her being in the main group. I think sheā€™s one more interesting person in a mix of interesting characters who are trapped together in space.
I mean, I may have a bad reaction if we have to SEE her make out with Bellamy. Like, I hope I donā€™t have to see that. Otherwise, Iā€™m cool with her on the show. I feel bad when she makes a face like a kicked puppy. I think making deep and meaningful connections with people outside her clan will enrich her as a character.

Ā  Ā  Ā His people are FAR more disgusting than she wanted to admit. While hers were RUTHLESS, his were { COWARDS }. They hid behind weapons that worked with as little skill as they could muster, sought VIOLENCE with anyone different than them. It was DISGUSTING.
Ā  Ā Granted-- she HAD killed their people. For the few that had seen her face && lived to tell the tale about it, they DID have reason to be wary. Her hands were DRENCHED in the blood of their people, though it wasnā€™t as if the action had brought her particular joy. Still, even without this knowledge, she had to sneer down the barrels of their guns, hands above her head.
Ā  Ā She didnā€™t seek violence. At least, not YET. Not until she could report their selfish desperation back to the king && heā€™ll allow her to lead the Azgeda army to the gates of Arkadia. Then, they could { FINALLY } stop this ember out && keep it from growing.Ā

Ā  Ā  Ā Let them C H O K E on her words for a moment. She watched as the two guards-- both young, glance towards each other with uncertainty. For a moment, Echo couldnā€™t help but wonder if they would be trying to teach Trigedasleng to their people in order to understand them, but thought better of lingering on that idea for too long. It was HERS. Not theirs.Ā

She hears the front door close, but she doesn't move. She's been staring at it for the last half hour, wondering if she's dreaming. Or imagining things. But no, those two blue lines are as clear as anything. She doesn't know what to feel; excited? Nervous? Terrified out of her mind? All of those and more. Every single one. But what she needed right now was to see his face. His reaction. That would determine which emotion wins out.
So Echo stands, grabs the test, and opens the door to the bathroom before walking out. "Bellamy," she begins, keeping as voice as even as possible, "we need to talk."
