A Little Role Playing
Because this scenario was rotating in my brain like a rotisserie chicken for at least a week. This was meant to be more of a microfiction but turns out I can't be brief to save my life.
(in my anxious opinion this is a little bit zestier than what I would normally post but it's still firmly a g/t story. Just keep that in mind.)
Word Count: 1.5k
CWs: consensual fearplay gone too far, mouthplay and vore vibes, vague spicytime allusions and that is definitely the intent but the fun turns unfun before anything serious happens
======
“I- I’ll never tell you anything, human!” shouted the diminutive voice at the towering form in front of them.
“Hehehe… I have ways of making a tiny little thing like you talk…,” spoke the form, a man named Evan. He quickly changed his tone, though, as he added in a whisper, “Was the laugh too much? Too on-the-nose?”
“The laugh was fine, babe, but don’t overdo it,” quietly responded Avery, caught in Evan’s loose fist. After quickly clearing their throat, they continued shouting, “I’ll never talk! You’ll never get me to reveal where my town is! I’ll take our secret to the grave, on my honor!”
Evan rolled his eyes at this. The human had regularly questioned why his borrower partner was so in love with this scenario, but based on their past experiences, it was always the one that made Avery tick. Evan simply played along as best as he could on days where they agreed to play out Avery’s fantasies, and this was one such day.
“Now now, little borrower, that’s a lot of words, but not a lot of answers. I said to tell me where your town is, or else!” Evan growled, as his fist gave a quick squeeze to Avery.
“N-never!”
“Very well then… if you’re no good as an informant, I could find another use for you…” the human said, giving himself time to think over what to do as a threat. They had played this little game often, and this was always the part where things tended to diverge. What direction things progressed in depended on the mood of the two partners, but Avery was very clear about what they wanted out of their game tonight: Scare me.
Evan thought back to when they first met, when he had discovered Avery attempting to steal food from his pantry. The little thing was terrified of Evan back then, begging and pleading for their life before Evan had even said a word. From the sound of it, Avery was missing that thrill, that exciting fear of being caught by a human, and Evan decided to commit to the act in order to please his partner.
“Hm… what to do with you…” he murmured, before they were both caught off-guard as Evan’s stomach loudly rumbled. Evan decided to run with this as inspiration as he continued his “evil” speech… this was a direction things hadn’t gone in before.
“You know… if you won’t say anything of help to me, perhaps you could help me in another way…” Evan spoke, as he did his best diabolical grin. He saw Avery’s face begin to pale as they were moved closer to the human’s mouth.
“H-hey, wait, I don’t know what you’re thinking about, but…” stammered Avery, in what sounded like their role-playing voice. That simply wouldn’t do, thought Evan, as he spoke again.
“Oh? Your wandering eyes tell me that you know exactly what I’m thinking about, tiny one. Tell me where the others are, or I may help myself to the nice little snack in my hand…”
The fear in Avery’s voice was quickly becoming more real. “H-hey, uh, I don’t know if I like the direction this is going…” They said, as they gulped in nervousness. Evan only continued to smile as he spoke, “What’s wrong? I thought you wanted to be scared? Is the little nugget chickening out?”
Avery could only stutter as they thought of what to say. “C-come on, Ev, we’ve talked about how terrifying this kind of thing is to me… you were supposed to, um, you know…”
Unfortunately, their words fell on deaf ears as Evan began to laugh, a laugh which was somewhere between their fake laugh from earlier and the real deal. He continued to hold his borrower partner near his mouth, moving them out of his fist and into a loose grip, held between his index finger and thumb. “What’s wrong, little borrower? You wanted to be afraid, didn’t you? You love being afraid… I bet you’ve been wanting me to do this for ages, haven’t you?”
“N-no, no seriously Evan, not like this… knock it off…” whimpered Avery, being sure to emphasize the use of Evan’s name, which was their signal that things were turning very real.
“Oh no, is the little one getting scared? Tell me you’re scared and maybe I’ll let you go… maybe,” chuckled the human.
“Evan… I- I know you won’t hurt me, b-but, you’re acting very weird right now… it’s scaring me… can we change the script?” pleaded Avery, who was staring at the grinning, gaping maw that was moving right in front of them.
Evan chuckled, now was his chance to truly give his partner the adrenaline rush they craved. “The script? There’s no script, little borrower. This is very, very, real… and you’re about to become a very little meal… any last words?”
The fear on his partner’s face was palpable, and Evan could feel Avery’s heartbeat soaring. “Evan… Evan stop. Safe word time. Evan… Evan!” They cried, as Evan moved them closer to his mouth. Avery could feel the human’s breath on their skin as they were more close enough that Evan could easily bite down on them.
“S-s-seriously, Evan, Evan stop! Th-this isn’t funny! Game’s over! S-stop!”
But Evan ignored their pleas, gently moving the borrower close to their tongue, and giving them a small, but still gentle lick across the front of their body, causing Avery to shiver in fear.
“H-hey, s-stop! Say something! Stop this! Evan, I know this isn’t you!” Avery cried, desperate for this game to end. The human leaned their head back, so that the terrified borrower was dangling above the gaping mouth. As the human’s eyebrows furrowed, Avery continued to plead.
“Evan, Evan please, don’t do this, I-I don’t know what I did to upset you but this isn’t the solution, we can talk about this, please! I… I don’t want to die, Evan, please! I’m sorry, for whatever I did I’m sorry!”
With that, Evan smiled a devious grin, before moving Avery down closer to his mouth… and giving them a quick kiss. “Was that the fear you-” he started to say, before noticing something was off. That kiss tasted… different than usual. As the human looked down at their partner, it became obvious that Avery was sobbing, face covered in tears. “P-please, please Evan don’t do this, please…” was all they kept muttering to themself, seeming to ignore the kiss entirely.
“Woah, hey, hey Aves, it’s okay,” Evan quickly stated, as he finally realized he may have gone too far. “You… you know I was just playing, right? It wouldn’t have been scary if I just stopped. You wanted me to be scary, remember?”
Avery was clearly in shock at they stammered, trying to form words. “I… I wanted you to scare me, not… not threaten to eat me! What… why would you… why did you do that?!”
“Woah, Aves, calm down, calm down, let me just, uh, put you down…”
“Don’t… don’t ‘Aves’ me right now, Evan! You almost killed me!” cried the borrower.
Evan knew that he should be calm, but he couldn’t help  but rise to anger at Avery’s accusations. “I wasn’t going to actually eat you! I was just trying to scare you, like you asked me to do! You were the one whining that I was too predictable, so I mixed it up! You’re welcome!”
Avery flinched at Evan’s voice raising, and Evan could tell that Avery was uncharacteristically fearful. Normally, the little borrower was actually the more pushy one in the relationship, so to see them buckle like this was heartbreaking to Evan. “I- I’m sorry… I-I guess I did… y-you’re right, just… d-don’t do it again… please…”
Evan sighed and took a deep breath before trying to talk again. “Aves… I mean, Avery… I should be the one apologizing, I took things too far, but I just wanted to make you happy…”
“Just… just put me down, Evan.”
Evan complied, and placed Avery down on the floor, before getting on his knees on the floor to be as level as possible with the borrower.
“Look, I’m sorry… How about we wind down, watch some movies, and share an ice cream? We still have some of your favorite flavor left…” said Evan, trying to keep his tone as quiet as possible. However, the borrower had other plans.
“I… I want to go home… sorry, I think I just need… a little break from human time for now…”
Human time, Evan repeated mentally. That was a term Avery hadn’t used since they first started dating, when they were overwhelmed with the sheer size of the human, and needed to be around people their own size for a while.
“I… understand… I’m sorry again, Avery. Can you… forgive me? Please?”
“... I’ll be back in a day or two… we can talk then.” was all Avery said, as they turned and quickly walked towards the borrower hole in the wall.

Yeehawgust Day What
Prompts: Warning Shot, Hold Your Horses, Stampede, Wide Open Spaces, Tall Handsome Stranger (because I fell drastically behind, don't look at me)
[This is not an excerpt from my western novel. It is completely its own little piece. I could have made the prompts fit an excerpt but this was more fun. Featuring characters that did not exist before today. I do not know what horrible tragedy befell Avery's family but maybe we'll find out later this month? Also featuring my terrible attempts to mimic something of the wonderfully descriptive prose of a Zane Grey novel.]
"Stranger on the Cliffs"
“What is that, on that rise?” Avery asked, pointing with straight, outstretched arm.
“Where?” Blue McGinnis, whose eyesight was more practiced if not more keen than Avery’s, sidled nearer on his horse and followed Avery’s gesture toward the chalk cliffs rising up from the plains in front of them, where dark clouds were building behind the cliffs. The cliffs stood out in stark relief from the storm coming up over them as the eastern sun behind them turned the cliffs to shining colors of yellow, gold, and white. And yet, it did appear to Blue that there was something darker standing on the edge of them. It might have been a strange dark stone, or even a lonely tree, but neither man nor boy remembered glimpsing it the night before, when the cliffs were first in sight. The oncoming clouds shifted and the dark thing, if it was a thing, seemed to move or vanish, like a trick of the light.
“Did you see it?” Avery asked, urgent.
“I’m not sure,” came the careful answer.
“It’s not Fleet or Flax,” Avery said. “They would be shining in that sun, just like the stone is.” The pair of palominos were the reason for that band of riders picking their way across the Colorado plain, vanished in the night.
None of the others riding with them had seen the shadow or shape ahead of them, but Blue kept his attention fixed on that cliff and Avery sat uneasy in his saddle. “Do you think it might have been a man?” Avery asked after a while.
“No reason for a man to be out there,” Blue reasoned. “Of course, it could have been an Arapaho or some other tribe, a scout maybe.” He hesitated, considering his young partner and weighing his counsel before giving it, but decided in the end that keeping silence would be worse if his premonition came to pass. “It could be rustlers though, or thieves. Could be your two stallions didn’t run off on their own accord.”
At this, Avery’s uneasiness deepened, and his face turned to such pallor that Blue regretted his words and was quick to offer reassurance.
“Still, I don’t think it likely, and we’re as safe a bunch as any, with a dozen riders, and plenty of rifles between us and fast horses. No, I don’t think we’ll meet any trouble.” Blue had seen more than his fair share of trouble from more than one tribe as well as from rustlers and bandits and had, mostly through personal error and providential grace, learned how to interact peaceably with most.
Avery, but fourteen years of age and newly master of all his inheritance, looked grave, but nodded to Blue and nudged his horse on.
With them rode all the men previously in the employee of Avery’s father. Blue had been an occasional business partner, but the others were permanent hires and had come westward with the Hutchinsons from South Carolina. They were honest, loyal men, and those who had first taught a toddling child how to behave around horses and dogs and cattle had then stood beside him at his family’s graves and now went with him in all he did. Partially, this was on account of the elder Hutchinson, but each man had developed his own fondness for the curly-haired, blue-eyed boy. For the sake of the memory of the father and the life of the son, any of them felt he would give his life for Avery. It was a loyalty Avery did not yet understand the magnitude of but he trusted them entirely and for the time, that was enough.
The purple clouds rolled forward to cover the cliffs in shadow, erasing any memory of a shape that may or may not have been there moments before, and the band of horsemen, eyes searching for the flash of light or rise of dust that would lead to their escaped quarry, moved on.
In another five minutes, the clouds were upon them, the near edge twisting up in roiling waves against the sky. As the first shade fell across Avery at the lead of the riders, the clouds released a heavy burden they had borne for miles from the mountain passes filled with mists and streams where they originated in the west.
Rain fell from the sky hard as stones, pelting the grassland and the small band of riders making their weary way across it, and raising a low cloud of dust in the first moments of that abrupt downpour striking the broad, arid plain. The rain was too harsh and fast to be refreshing, and since none in the party was prepared for such an onslaught of weather in that near-weatherless land, they endured it miserably without gear or shelter and were soon drenched, water running off their hats and shoulders and the toes of their boots. The horses were only a little better off, for all their hardiness, and they blinked their eyes against the sudden dust and rain, and shook their heads, flinching at the sting of that storm.
Fierce wind blew up behind the storm, chasing it quickly across the plain, and the rain stopped as unexpectedly as it began, though the low grey clouds remained behind it, casting the area in an even more vague outlook. There was now no sunbeam to highlight the occasional distant buttes and chalk cliffs, and no shadow to outline the dips and curves of dormant creeks, awash with sudden muddy streams that abated to brown trickles again in mere minutes.
Avery shook water from his hair, wiping it away from his eyes with a damp sleeve. He froze mid-movement, his gaze transfixed on a point up ahead where he saw the same shadow he had glimpsed before, only now he was sure it was not a trick of the landscape, for it had moved. Though still a good distance away, he could tell at once that it had moved a good thirty yards under the cover of the storm.
“Blue!” he exclaimed. “It’s there again.”
The party slowed up and now each of the riders saw what Blue and Avery had, a tall dark shape standing as sentinel at the northern edge of the chalk cliff, nearer to where the land rose up to meet it and swept from that place down to where they rode, the far northern part of the horizon walled off by a collection of buttes.
To Avery’s eyes, the figure looked most like the black bears he was familiar with from home, standing perhaps on its hindlegs so as to get its bearings. Yet even he knew that no bear would be out on these desolate fields of western wheat, cacti, sedge, and buffalo grass, away from the trees and rivers that were its natural habitation. Blue, who had seen more of the world than his young partner, never thought of the bear, but he did think of hunters and other dangerous men, wrapped in pelts or in buffalo skins.
A thin man in the party with a very long, narrow, red beard, placed his horse alongside Blue and Avery. His name was Dart, and his eyes flickered from place to place, never resting on one thing. “If he means us ill, we ought to discourage him now and save ourselves the trouble later. He has to know we have seen him, but maybe he can’t decide whether or not to make trouble.” He drew his pistol, a dull, heavy thing under that clouded heaven. “We should help him make that decision.”
“Dart, wait,” Blue cautioned, but he was too late.
Dart, aiming the pistol up and tilted away from them, fired a warning shot.
Several things began to happen at once, so that Avery was aware of all of them separately but could not at first understand any of them. The sound of the shot was loud and quick and then seemed to echo like thunder after the storm. The shape on the cliff moved and seemed to grow flatter and wider all at once, as if the stranger were lying down, and then disappeared altogether. Dart gave a nod of satisfaction that at once changed to a frown of puzzlement and concern. The retort of the pistol shot was echoing endlessly, or else it had begun to thunder for real, or else… Blue swore and the horses began to dance unevenly. The very ground began to shake. Ahead of them, just on the invisible rear incline of the chalk cliffs, a new cloud of dust rose into the air.
Blue swore. “Buffalo!”
And now, of course, all of them knew what the solitary shape had been on the cliff – a lead bull buffalo, either unconscious of their presence below it, or else careless of them, but which had turned and fled at the sound of Dart’s shot. The herd it belonged to, unsettled by the sudden storm and easily panicked by some new unknown predator, moved in the only direction that must have been available to it: down the northern end of the cliffs and into the plains valley where Avery and the men rode.
Recovering himself, Blue saw that he and the riders were all in the path of the stampede now roiling over that lowermost sandstone ledge and that it would be upon them in minutes. Once the herd exited the narrow entrance to the plain, it could fan out in any or in all directions. The horses they rode were tired and Blue did not like to gamble on them outrunning the stampeding beasts.
“The buttes!” he bellowed to the men, pointing to the right of where the buffalo appeared. It was their best chance.
Avery, motionless and wide-eyed in the face of that black fury swinging around the cliff toward them, held his horse’s reins slack in his hands. Blue seized Avery’s arm and shook the reins, breaking Avery’s trance and setting the horse in uncertain motion. “Run!” he shouted to Avery.
Awakened to his peril, Avery sent his horse into a gallop.
It was a mad, blinding race of man and beast across that rocky field. The horses ran full out, eyes wild as their training won them over to listen to the commands of their riders even while they saw the great seething mass of black flooding toward them.
The herd was at a true full stampede but they did not run, perhaps, quite as hard as the riders drove their mounts, and the first of the charging lead bulls were just coming even with the last butte as the horses crashed past them over the uneven clay at the base of the butte. A single cow buffalo careened between the butte and the last two riders, and then they were out of reach of the thousands of hooves and horns and massive heaving black and brown bodies flying by them.
Every man, as soon as he saw that he was safe, turned at once to seek out Avery.
Avery’s horse was furthest up along the low slope of the largest butte, and the boy was uncertain how his horse had scrambled quite that far, and equally astounded to see that he and all his men had escaped the stampede without harm.
The horses, wild with fear at the air filled with dust and with the horrific noise of bellowing beasts, reared and side-stepped, suddenly aware that they were trapped between the rising stone and earth and the terrifying stampede.
“Hold them now!” Blue yelled over the din, choking on the gritty air. “Hold them steady!”
The men controlled and soothed their mounts, and Avery coaxed his to awkwardly sidestep down the angle of the butte until he was level with the other riders, but still on the inside of them, shielded from the river of beasts that ran past them.
In another few seconds, the stampede was beyond them, leaving only hoofprints and the swirling clouds of yellow dust and the frightened horses and relieved riders behind.
The rumble of hooves faded and far away, but still within sight to the southeast, the stampede slowed, circled, and trailed away more slowly as the herd lost its fright and momentum. At the back of the herd, Avery could just make out a single, tall bull lingering as if to look back at them with reproof. It was a magnificent animal, even at this distance, and a powerfully built, handsome specimen of its kind if ever Avery had seen or judged one. He fancied it was the same bull that had watched them from the cliffs. Despite his fear, he found himself wishing the old bull well – a stranger he would never know.
A long silence followed, broken only by the cough of man or horse, and a few nervous chuckles and oaths.
“Dart,” Avery called at last. Every eye of that band of riders turned to him. He sat very still on his horse.
The red-bearded man faced his young master, and no one could say whether it was the nervous habit of his eyes which gave him his name, or else his consternation at having caused such a melee, that made him unable to hold Avery’s gaze.
“Next time,” Avery continued with level tone. “You will ask my permission before you draw your gun.”
“Yes, sir.”
A laugh broke from Blue. He was grinning and shaking his head, mud and dust dislodging from him as he moved. They were all a sight to behold, covered in layers of grime. “Well said, young Hutchinson,” Blue said with respect and the humor of one who has just escaped with his life. “Well said.” fin (for now)
(p.s. I also don't know if Avery finds his missing horses, don't @ me.)

ra(vee)ng mad | Vee | Trial 2.1 | Re: everything, Avery and Nao, Theophania
Two years ago, Vivian Lockwood found the broken body of their best friend Perennial Harbor, her neck painfully exposed, and her eyes wide open and unfocused. She had been cold to the touch as he fruitlessly attempted CPR, and then Vee felt a part of his soul leave his body once the gravity of her death finally sunk in. They had collapsed onto her body, and bawled until their tear ducts ran dry and the ambulance crew had to pull them off. He had stayed for her funeral, then he ran; he ran from the cursed campsite where all of their happy memories were now tinged with the bitter knowledge that she had died where she had lived and loved, ran from the rest of Perry's family as he cut off contact with the remaining two for fear they would remind him of what happened to Perry, ran away from the shock and pain and horror and overwhelming grief until he had run headlong into the sunlight, and by a miracle, somehow ended up running back to her.
Two hours ago, Vivian Lockwood found the broken body of their best friend Perennial Harbor, her neck painfully exposed, and her eyes wide open and unfocused. She had been warm to the touch as he fruitlessly attempted CPR, and then Vee felt a part of his soul leave his body as he cast Dark Revival on her, to no avail. They had collapsed onto her body, and bawled until their tear ducts ran dry and both Harriet and Luz had to pull them off.
But there was no running, this time. Even if the impulse to fall headlong into the river and let the water reclaim him was strong, the desire to uncover the truth behind what happened tonight drives his footsteps, his breathing, his focus on dragging the hollowed-out shell he called a body to his spot next to Harriet and the empty space that was once Perry's. Their grey eyes were unfocused and ringed with red, their posture hunched over, their fingers gripping onto the edges of the table so hard that their knuckles were white.
Tumblr media
"It still d-doesn't feel real..." They whisper, unable to keep a fresh wave of tears from making their way down their pale face. "Like some c-cruel feckin' practical joke p-predilected on so many f-feckin' things goin'... goin' c-completely fuckin' wrong that it f-feels like she's just goin' to p-pop open the door and s-say it's whatever this blasted kingdom's v-version of April Fools' is. So many t-things had to happen tonight for t-this to be the end result. I want to scream. Perry's journal was s-still in her belongin's by her b-beddin', which means instead of s-sendin' us all a message askin' for h-help, she crawled on that b-broken ankle and bloodied t-throat, to try and s-send a message through gravity a-and the balcony?! And then, s-someone seein' her in so much p-pain and sufferin', one f-foot into the grave, d-cecides the best thin' to d-do is bop a fuckin' Shatterstone o-on her?! The Lord as my w-witness, what in the actual f-fuck happened?! I just- I can't- I- I-!"
Tumblr media
"A-A-Auuuuugh!"
The burden of knowledge is just too much. A hundred possibilities, a hundred what-ifs. A hundred ways to share the blame for who let this happen, who decided their best friend should die so senselessly and painfully and still had the gall to exploit the circumstances. The shock to their system causes them to short-circuit, collapsing onto their table as their brain overheats, and it's nearly half a minute before they can pick themselves back up. Their face is still a portrait of unreleased catharsis, a nervous wreck only stalling their imminent breakdown to get things done.
Tumblr media
"...If this t-turns out to be anythin' m-more than the worst f-feckin' chain of accidents and b-bad fuckin' decisions in the h-history of our known e-existence, I'm goin' to seriously l-lose it. I'm at my l-limit. I'm really g-goin' to fuckin'- Someone's g-goin' to hafta answer for this. 8PM to 10PM, M-Manami and I were in R-Room 8, listenin' to music. I saw her b-back to her room, then e-entered the Dining H-Hall soon after around 10.03. 10.11, Shinjuku gets up and l-leaves in a hurry, and I s-shoulda followed him the m-moment Luz came in unharmed and u-unbothered the literal next minute." Of fucking course something had happened to Perry, but they'd been in too much of a dopey mood after spending time with Manami that they hadn't recognised the warning signs. Stupid Vee. Stupid! "She and G-Germain left at 10.25, and then I g-got called up like m-most of the rest of u-us. We tried to c-check on Vivianna durin' the investigation, s-since her headband ended up on Perry's h-head for some reason, b-but her door was sealed and we r-ran out of time before messagin' the g-group chat to ask her if s-she knew what happened here."
They breathe out shakily. "On a-account of the fact I d-do not have anyone to v-vouch for my full whereabouts b-between 10.25 and 10.42, I will a-accept being considered a s-suspect for the purposes of being t-thorough. That is the general t-timeframe someone who would be u-upstairs in the craftin' room would h-have to be there to do this. Do n-not insinuate anythin' else, I am s-seriously goin' to lose my shite if y-you think I could've done any of t-this," Vee hisses, embittered by pain and frustration. "I can also c-corroborate all of the injuries d-described by Avery and Nao, and add that I've g-gathered no reason for why she would l-leave the library's second floor if s-she was still waitin' for help that n-never arrived."
Once again, they were just that little too late. If they ever needed a reminder that they were probably God's mistake, history had a decidedly wonderful fucking way of letting Vee know it was the most bullshit thing ever.

Does anyone else want to challenge Krista Vernoff to a duel at dawn for the crimes she committed against humanity? I take everything she did to japril very personally, and I will take my hatred to my grave!
I have a strong feeling that she decided to delete the japriet scene in 13x01 that we only got to see in promo pics.
She tried to villainize April's character and distance her from all of the other characters in season 13.
She deliberately created a rift between japril (using the Minnick situation and the storyline about Catherine taking April under her wing).
She made japril's reunion in Montana seem like it meant nothing.
She made April tell Jackson that she wanted to move out of his house in season 14 and tried to make it seem like April was angry at him until Sarah requested for her demeanor in that scene to be changed.
She paired Jesse, Sarah's scene partner of 6 years, with Kelly, who's one of Sarah's closest friends from the cast.
She made Maggie save April in 14x23, and expected the fans to start liking her and ship jaggie (as if lol).
She had the audacity to title 14x24 (Sarah's final episode on Grey's at the time), as "All Of Me", which is the title of a song that was played in an iconic japril scene.
She made April date Matthew, who is a public enemy of the japril fandom. The least she could've done was bring in a new/decent guy for April. But she was like, "oh no, let's have her be with the person she left at the altar, and try to negate the years that April spent with Jackson."
She made April get married to Matthew in front of Jackson (which later ended up being a plot device for Jackson to realize his feelings for April, but I bet a thousand bucks that it wasn't intended to have a positive impact on japril in the future).
She made April give up her career as a trauma surgeon.
And the worst one of them all is the way Sasse have been directed in japril scenes after she became in charge of running the show.
The directors have tried to mess with most of the fundamental attributes of japril to make them seem platonic. You can clearly see that when you watch their scenes starting season 13. Jesse looks like he's holding himself back, and Sarah is trying to work with the direction to the best of her abilities. The only time they seemed like japril was in 13x16 (Kevin McKkid directed the ep so he probably didn't torture them with notes cause he's really nice). And Sarah and Jesse saved the rest of their scenes in season 16 (both before and after 13x16) with their subtle body language.
Then they tried to make japril seem platonic in 17x14, the episode that was supposed to give us closure. We all know that Krista wanted to keep April married to Matthew, and Sasse fought to change the script to leave a possibility for a japril endgame, plus they even improvised the japril handhold and hug.
And don't even get me started on the way April was treated by the other characters in 18x20. Only Amelia, Ben, and Bailey were polite to her (I'm not counting the Averys since they're practically April's family). Owen didn't even acknowledge her properly (I know that he was going through stuff, but in 12x24 April literally got stranded in Mere's house in the middle of a storm, and had to have a c-section without anesthesia because she went to look for his wedding ring, but she doesn't even get a proper hello?) The way Mere reacted to April's greeting is how Krista wants to treat Sarah (I said what I said). Even Ellen Pompeo has more class than Krista. Plus they cut one of April’s scenes with Catherine.
And then we find out that one version of their scene in 18x20 was cut. I bet you anything that the one that aired was also edited down to make it as short as it could be. Jesse didn't fly to LA from NY, and Sarah didn't make an entire film production halt their work in Canada, to shoot scenes of japril eulogizing Catherine (who's very much still alive), and having random convos with people about the hospital. The only substantial scene for japril, other than the one in the elevator, was April's scene with Amelia. Sasse must have expected so much more from that episode, just like we did. And that makes me so sad.
All of this for what? To take something away from two actors who loved working together, and break the hearts of millions of fans who found happiness in shipping this amazing couple? How sad do you have to be to actively try to ruin other people's happiness?
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk. Now that I've said this, I feel a bit better 🥲

What Death Can Join Together
A Penny Dreadful Fic
Belle de Villenueve was raised by a french inventor and an english artist. Though her mother died when she was young, her father raised her with her mothers ideals, and she grew up to covet knowledge and intellect, and was fascinated with creating things and inventing. Her father, along with her astounding intellect, ensured that she got into college to study science and mathematics, and there she met a lifelong friend- Victor Frankenstein. She even helped him with the designs and earliest mechanisms of the complicated machines that would later help him in his endeavour to create life from death.
Unfortunately, her father grew gravely ill before she could finish her studies. Her whole life, it had just been the two of them- Belle and her father. She dropped out to take care of him, and he died within half a year with only Belle and a family doctor to witness it. For the first time, Belle was completely alone- the house was left to her, as was her parents fortune, but she was alone in the great big house.
Throwing herself into her own notes and her fathers unfinished inventions, Belle began to patent her and her fathers creations- under her fathers name. No one took a female inventor seriously in London.
Sometime after she began to create a name for herself in academic circles and had reached out to her college friends again, Victor shows up at her doorstep in the middle of the night, desperate for help.
Though she has no idea that saying 'yes' will end in her being pulled into an entirely new, dark world full to the brim with death, monsters, and dark magic, Belle refuses to turn away a friend in need.
And so her story begins.

First and Foremost: This is not an all-inclusive listing.
This list does not include every possible character that we would allow in our setting. We just didn’t want to boggle the list down. If a family is not listed here they can still be reserved and applied for. Original families can be created as well, however, we will not be accepting any original Pure-blood families unless their origin is from outside the UK.
Unless explicitly stated, family information presented may be changed. Meaning: names, ages, race, number of family members, blood purity and other things about the family can be changed by the player that takes the first member of family, within reason. However, no whitewashing of families is allowed. If you're unsure about something, feel free to send us an ask!
If you also seek more information about a family background that may or not be listed, we would also be willing to add them here as well. Again, just ask!
Key:
* - denotes that the family information stated is locked for that grouping
✝ - denotes this character is dead and shall remain dead
▲ - denotes that this character is currently imprisoned/unplayable, but with progression will be allowed to be played
strikethrough - denotes that the character is reserved or spoken for
- suggested faces are also just suggestions

Aww hell yeah. Asking historical questions is my jam. I've heard somewhere before that pirates wore earrings because they thought pierced ears would cure seasickness. Is that true?
i’m honestly about to ruin somebody’s childhood daydreams up in here and i’m honestly okay with that.  who?  dunno, but i’m sure it’ll happen.
okay so.  first things first as far as pirates go:  you would not - i repeat, would not -  be able to tell your average pirate from your average merchant sailor.  by which i mean to say after a murky, fuzzy chronological line, do sailor have tattoos?  then pirates have tattoos.  do sailors sometimes wear earrings?  pirates sometimes wear earrings.  because first and foremost, pirates were typically only pirates part time.  like it wasn’t a career option, it was something you did if a ship’s master was a dickbag or you needed to make a little extra money or you got kicked off a legitimate ship or left a legitimate ship because the master decided to change plans on a whim (because they could do that) and refused to pay you more.  or the master withheld pay and rations.  or-
what i’m saying is, piracy was kind of a last ditch option for a lot of honest sailors.
so, let’s touch on superstitions.  sailors, as a whole, were and are a superstitious lot.  even now bringing bananas onto a ship is a no no in the sailing world.  you don’t whistle on deck or you might whistle up a storm.  but in this case, earrings weren’t so much a part of that as they were for a very practical reason.
see, life at sea is hard.  it’s dangerous.  it’s really easy to die in a myriad of horrible, gruesome, awful ways.  cannonfire, falling overboard, getting crushed between ships, getting crushed by an unsecured gun (cannon) or unsecured cargo.  getting caught in the rigging.  getting smooshed during careening.  it’s not happy funtime, it’s hard, backbreaking labor.  combine that with, on a ship, most water was mixed with rum to keep it from going stagnant, you’ve got a crew that’s half tipsy literally all the time.  pirates with earrings in their ears didn’t wear them because they were backward (you had some educated men and women among the rank and file of piracy - blackbeard and stede bonnet are good examples) and the world was on the cusp of the germ theory (they were still half miasma/half humours at the time, but they understood outside forces were responsible for illness and that there were ways it could be prevented - the first inoculations would occur in the last quarter of the 18th c).
no, the reason people who sailed as a profession as a whole wore earrings was because it was fast and easy cash in an uncertain world.  if a sailor was stranded in port (either for bad behavior or because of illness) or died close to/in port, that was money.  if the person was alive, that gold could be traded for goods and services.  if they were dead...well.  it would pay for a funeral - a box in the ground in some strange, foreign port, sure, but a grave all the same.
like that’s it.  that’s the long and short of that.  pirates are 1000% less exotic and tarted up than we’ve made them in the last century or so (though the argument could be made it goes as far back as the late 1600s/early 1700s with the forging of legends and misstruths - i know, i wrote a humongous paper dealing with that very thing about the trials of the crew of henry every/avery and how they spurred both changes in public opinions concerning piracy and the laws in britain themsselves which hadn’t been touched since the 1530s or thereabouts).
a good book to check out with regards to the social history of pirates is marcus rediker’s between the devil and the deep blue sea: merchant seaman, pirates, and the anglo-american maritime world, 1700-1750.  rediker used to be THE name in caribbean and atlantic piracy but he’s moved on to another facet of maritime history iirc.  can’t recommend this book highly enough - for a monograph it’s surprisingly readable (rediker is actually a gr8 academic writer and his footnotes are the best parts), where he covers a lot of this stuff in dedicated chapters as well as hammering down that sailors and pirates are exactly the same thing, and that most sailors had, at some point or another, done a little bit of piracy.
i ama a historian : accepting : anon
