Those in italics have five or more pieces of usable visual, written, or audio propaganda already. If you have any visuals like photos or videos, or if you have something to say in words, submit it to this blog before round one begins on June 25th!
If you don't see a name you submitted here, it's because most or all of their career was as a child/they were too young for the cutoff, their career was almost entirely after 1979, or music was something they only dabbled in and are hardly known for. There are quite a few ladies on the list whose primary career wasn't "recording artist" or "live musician," but released several albums or were in musical theater, so they've been accepted.
#long post#miss billboard tourney#i wasn't originally going to list them all but i decided to do so because there are so many without propaganda

Earth X #7
Hulk’s the strongest of the verse, you know him well
He’s finally back to kick some tail!
Iiiiii still don’t know why the Hulk is a gorilla now.
The opening two-page spreads that recap people on Hulk stuff tries to explain it as the Celestial seed in Bruce absorbing so much gamma radiation that it wanted to be independent.
But that doesn’t really work when Bruce needs Hulk to see and Hulk seems to do anything Bruce wants. The two are more dependent than they were in one body.
The opening Hulk explanation also debunks the idea that Hulk’s different personas were any kind of Disassociate Identity Disorder thing. Nope, Bruce’s mental health has nothing to do with it according to Earth X. It’s always just been a result of Hulk absorbing more and more gamma over time.
Let’s just say that’s one ball from Earth X the main verse won’t pick up and run with.
Earth X! It’s Bad Future! There’s a mind control squid and a mind control kid causing a fuss! Humanity has mutated due to reasons unknown but probably not Reed Richard’s fault! The Avengers are dead, the Fantastic Four is disbanded, and the X-Men are all circus performers! Iron Man hides from the world! Thor has been rule 63’d by Loki! Peter Parker is retired but his daughter is Venom! Hulk and Bruce went to see Sorcerer Supreme Clea to visit Mar-Vell in the Realm of Death to ask why Bruce keeps dreaming about him!
There’s a lot going on! Much of it is a mess!
Also, last issue blind Uatu the Watcher bullied Aaron Stack Machine Man into erasing his own brain.
This causes some trouble because Aaron was one of the comic’s narrators and now he has zero interest in anything going on and has to be cajoled by Uatu to still work as his seeing eye robot.
After the six preceding issues where Aaron always had an opinion on things, it’s chilling to have narration that’s now just matter of fact strict recitation of the facts.
You’re a dick, Uatu.
I’m going to get the appendix stuff out of the way now. The stuff that explains in brief what several not-appearing characters are up to.
Doc Sampson: he was the Skull’s therapist when the kid was just a normal kid. Unfortunately, therapy made the Skull’s powers manifest, unleashing the psychic pulse that took out every other psychic in the world. And when his power let him take control of Sampson, the Skull forced him to turn himself inside out, for laughs. That’s not really a survivable process.
General Ross: his crusade against the Hulk eventually escalated to the point where he wiped out a town, wrongly believing the Hulk was hiding there. He was court martialed, because yeah, and killed himself.
The Leader: he was psychic. The Skull’s awakening killed him.
Abomination: he irradiated Betty Ross until she died of it. Instead of killing him back, Bruce somehow cured him of being the Abomination.
Uatu figures that Bruce must have accidentally removed the Celestial seed from Blonsky, meaning there was nothing to allow gamma mutation to take place. And he seems glad Bruce never figured out how he did it because that could really derail the Celestials’ plan.
Nighthawk: apparently at some point he got prophecy eyes from Mephisto and he’s been driven insane by upcoming events.
Gargoyle: Lives with Nighthawk and writes down his insane ramblings. Including a bit that says Captain America’s attempt to gather an army to fight the Skull is doomed to failure. Thanks for the spoiler, jerk.
One last interesting tidbit that Uatu mentions is that though the Skull is an important part of the Celestials’ plans, the mass empowering event happened two hundred years early and Uatu has no idea if things are off the rails or if he just lost the plot.
Anyway.
Last issue, Reed Richards retrieved a Cerebro from the abandoned X-Mansion.
He teleports to New York and is reunited with Ben after all this time.
That’s nice.
Of course, Reed being Reed, he’s not here to reconnect with his best pal. He’s on a mission and he needs some notes he left with Ben.
Reed has a Cerebro but you need to be a little psychic to use Cerebro, some of the times. Reed isn’t psychic but at some point he took extensive notes on Charles Xavier’s brain.
So with the notes, Reed can just
Stretch his mind. To use Cerebro.
(I don’t know for sure but I think Earth X is the first to explicitly say that Xavier’s mutation was a physical change in his brain. So Earth X gets a tally for things that inspire the 616 because Red Skull later grafts Xavier’s brain to his own to get psychic powers.)
Meanwhile, over at the Sanctum Sanctorum, Thor has joined this side of the plot between issues with no explanation.
And Clea creates a portal to the Realm of Death which Bruce sends Hulk through.
In the past times I’ve seen Death’s Realm, it’s been a rather generic wasteland. In Earth X, it’s a ruined looking New York and the inhabitants are in inverted colors and horizontally flipped?
They act out what they were doing before death and seem unaware they’re dead.
Aside from the people we already knew were dead, there’s also She-Hulk. Meaning there’s nothing left to save from the Hydra. That’s sad.
Also, Phoenix is here but Jean is alive? Odd.
Hulk doesn’t find Mar-Vell but he does find Dr Strange’s dead astral form.
He tells Hulk/Bruce not to say anything. Then he reads the letter Hulk is carrying and tells Bruce that Mar-Vell is on his way to see him.
But that Bruce is in danger! Because the one that betrayed and killed him was Clea!
Dangit, Clea!
Although that does explain why she tried to get Hulk to turn back when he was getting close to Strange.
Thor rushes into the portal to retrieve Hulk when Clea warns that he may get trapped in Death’s Realm forever. And Bruce accidentally lets Clea know he knows when he begs Thor not to leave him alone with Clea.
Surprise, Clea and Loki are in cahoots. Kissing cahoots.
I have no idea how this ties into the mass empowering event, the Celestial plan, the impending destruction of Earth, the Inhumans looking for their missing prince, the Skull, or Hydra.
We now just have a Loki plot on top of all that.
And weirdly, ghost Strange suggests that Loki’s scheming may save Earth despite himself.
What a tangled web of plot and subplot.
Elsewhere, the Skull’s army arrives outside New York… oh, I’m sorry, New New York.
I don’t remember if a previous issue called the city New New York. And this issue came out a couple months after Futurama’s debut.
There’s a slim but non-zero chance that Earth X copied Futurama.
Wild.
And seven issues in, plotlines converge as Captain America and the circus X-Men Cyclops was training all arrive at Ben Grimm’s place.
I have to wonder what Cap’s plan is. He came up with one between issues and sent the circus performers to Cyclops for training and then booked it back to New New York.
How do you beat a kid that can mind control tens of thousands without any real effort? Reed could probably make a doodad. If he has Xavier’s brain on file, maybe he has Magneto’s helmet schematics?
Cap, please talk to Reed while you’re here.

Bela Lugosi in Murders in the Rue Morgue (Robert Florey, 1932)
Cast: Bela Lugosi, Sidney Fox, Leon Ames, Bert Roach, Betty Ross Clarke, Brandon Hurst, D'Arcy Corrigan, Noble Johnson, Arlene Francis. Screenplay: Robert Florey, Tom Reed, Dale Van Every, John Huston, based on a story by Edgar Allan Poe. Cinematography: Karl Freund. Art direction: Charles D. Hall. Film editing: Milton Carruth.
Robert Florey's Murders in the Rue Morgue looks great, thanks to Karl Freund's cinematography and Charles D. Hall's atmospheric sets, which were designed in collaboration with an uncredited Herman Rosse. Freund in particular brought to the task of re-creating the seamy side of Paris in 1845 his experience as cinematographer on such classics of German expressionism as F.W. Murnau's The Last Laugh (1924) and Fritz Lang's Metropolis (1927). Unfortunately, Florey was a comparative novice as a director, and the pacing of the movie is all wrong, static when it should be dynamic, with performances stuck in that peculiarly halting way of early talkies. There are supposedly comic scenes that fall flat: the byplay between the hero, a medical student called Pierre Dupin (Leon Ames) and his friend Paul (Bert Roach), and a routine involving three witnesses to a murder, a German, an Italian, and a Dane, each adhering to an ethnic stereotype. Only Bela Lugosi, as the sinister (what else?) Dr. Mirakle, gives his character any life. Dr. Mirakle is a carnival showman whose act centers on a gorilla called Erik (sometimes played by a chimpanzee and sometimes by the actor Charles Gamora in an ape suit). The doctor believes he can talk with Erik and wants to breed him with a human woman, so with the aid of his assistant Janos (Noble Johnson) he kidnaps streetwalkers, one of whom is played in her film debut by Arlene Francis, now mostly remembered as a panelist in the old game show What's My Line? After failing to find a compatible blood-type (and killing the women in the process) he finds his perfect subject: the pretty Camille (Sidney Fox), whom he spots in the audience at his show with her boyfriend, Pierre. You can guess the rest. Murders in the Rue Morgue has the makings of the best Universal horror classics, but it failed on its initial run. Critics panned the performances, with the exception of Lugosi's. Censors objected to the violence, the depiction of prostitution, and some belly-dancers in the sideshow, and some even to the endorsement of the theory of evolution. It was trimmed from its reported release time of 75 minutes to just over an hour. But it retains some exceptionally creepy moments, and its exciting end sequence anticipates and perhaps even influenced King Kong (Merian C. Cooper, Ernest B. Schoedsack, 1933).

The apartment was still dark when you slid out of your bedroom that Saturday morning. A pair of sensible tennis shoes hung from your fingers. They jostled quietly against each other as you looked first one way down the hall and then down the other.
You felt almost seventeen again, but in reverse. Back in high school, it was always trying to sneak back in to your room and away from the real world. Today it was trying to sneak out. If pressed, you wouldn’t have been able to say exactly why you didn’t want your grandmother knowing about your plans for the day. Something just told you that she couldn’t find out if you wanted to avoid a confrontation.
Faintly from the living room came the sounds of the television. Probably Judge Judy. There wasn’t a moment in time that some channel wasn’t showing the program. Your chest unwound slightly at the noise. At least that meant Nana wouldn’t be up to see you leave. Your sock-clad feet tiptoed across the floor into the kitchen. Meanwhile, your free hand dug into your purse until your fingers found the note you’d written to explain your absence.
Your heart quivered as you smooth the sheet of paper onto the kitchen table. The note wasn’t much of a lie. After all, it did say that you were going out for the day with a friend and would be back by dinner. Nana could call your cellphone if there was an emergency. No need to tell her where you were going or exactly what relationship status you had with said friend. Which was good, since you didn’t even really know yourself.
It had been three months since you’d shown up at Stark Tower to ask (maybe beg was a better word) if the relationship between you and Bruce could continue. Things had definitely progressed since then–hand holding, occasional kisses (very unlike the one outside the club), and a plethora of lunch break dates–but you still couldn’t pin down where it was going. Sometimes you thought you should ask or maybe flat out say what you thought, but a part of you was convinced he would run off if you tried.
The train of thoughts easily drowned out any sounds of Nana rolling down the hall. Her presence was only announced when she said, quite loudly:
“Where are you going?”
“Ah!” You must have jumped a good foot and a half in the air. Now your heart was really hammering–not just from being startled, but from being discovered as well. A nervous hand flew up to your tied back hair as you tried for a shaky smile. “Nana, you almost gave me a heart attack.”
She did not smile in response. In fact, Nana looked quite serious as she moved into the room. The watery early morning light did nothing to shed clarity on her features. You did not dare to breathe. Instead she slowly wheeled to the table as you looked on. Then she took your note in her shaking hands.
“What is this?” she asked after having read it.
You gave as casual a shrug as you could manage. “Just wanted to let you know where I was going for the day.”
“And you didn’t ask me? Again?”
You could hardly suppress your wince. Though you still thought yourself adult enough to leave without asking permission, you remembered how upset Nana had been on your first date with Bruce about the very same problem.
“I didn’t want to interrupt you,” you explained.
“[Name], who is this friend of yours?”
“He’s–”
“Tell me the truth now. I don’t want any lies.”
You weren’t entirely sure how you could lie your way out of this anyway. With a slow sigh, you sank into one of the kitchen chairs. A faint buzz brushed against your hips. That would be your cellphone: Bruce letting you know he and Happy were waiting outside the building.
“I met a guy,” you answered with an air of admitting something unpleasant, keeping your eyes your task of putting your shoes on instead of your grandmother.
“A guy,” she repeated flatly.
“Yeah, we’ve been going out for a few months now.”
Nana’s eyes widened, so you tried to head her off by adding:
“Not when I should be working, okay? Just for lunches.”
Her mouth opened.
“And I haven’t been giving him the store’s food, okay?”
That must not have been too offensive, because Nana regarded you quietly for a moment. Your cellphone vibrated again, but you ignored it once more. You couldn’t answer in the middle of this, tensed as you were for a fight you hoped wouldn’t come.
Nana set the note back onto the table. When she spoke, her tone was careful. “And where did you meet this gentleman?”
Your shoulders relaxed. This was going so much better than you planned. Your mistake was allowing the relief to color your words. “Oh, at the store when it first opened back up. He’s a friend of Mr. Stark.”
She froze. For a moment, the skin around her jaws trembled. Then Nana’s eyes locked onto yours.
“That’s why you kept running off to spend time at Stark Tower?” she asked.
“Not really,“ you said. "I mean, at the time I found the entire ordeal pretty awful, but–”
“But I thought you were seeing Mr. Stark!”
“Nana.” You sat up a little straighter to blink at her. “Mr. Stark’s got a girlfriend.”
"Pah! Pepper is a nice enough girl. But she’s not you.” Nana flicked an impatient hand.
You laughed uncomfortably. “I don’t think I appeal to Mr. Stark, Nana. It’s probably better this way.”
“I let you go!”
The laughter died on your lips.
Nana rolled frantically toward one end of the tiny kitchen. “I let you go because I thought–if he showed interest–we’d have enough money. The store could stay!”
“The store is doing fine, Nana,” you said, now thoroughly bewildered.
She turned swiftly back toward you. “I do not want my store to do ‘fine,’ [Name]. I want it to excel.”
You had no answer for that, but by then you were hyper-aware of the fact that Bruce had been sitting outside in a car for nearly fifteen minutes. Would he leave? You prayed that he wouldn’t. After this debacle, you shuddered at the thought of staying at home the rest of the day with your grandmother. While you were thinking about this, Nana seemed to come to a conclusion.
“Well, you’ll simply have to stop seeing this other fellow and make sure Mr. Stark is aware you’re free.”
Your thoughts slammed to a halt on that one. How could you even respond? You couldn’t. Without another word, you got to your feet and started to walk out of the kitchen. You only got as far as the door before Nana called out, a slight edge to her voice:
“[Name]? Where are you going?”
You barely turned your head to answer. “Out. On my date.”
“But I just said–”
“I’m not breaking up him because you want The Stand to be famous, Nana.”
You flung yourself into the hall and toward the door. The skill Nana had picked up in using her wheelchair unfortunately had her quickly in hot pursuit. “
[Name],” she began in a tone of obviously forced patience. “What are you here for?”
“To help you, Nana.”
“And is this helping me?”
“Nana, I am not going to break up with this man because you don’t like me seeing him. He’s been nothing but nice to me.”
“[Name], I have allowed you to live in this apartment, without paying rent, and you don’t do anything for me.”
“I do everything else for you!” you burst out, unable to contain yourself any longer. “Everything! I am not going to give up on the one thing that makes me happy!”
Nana’s lips clenched together; they hardly moved as she asked again, “Then why are you here?”
“Because Papa would have wanted me to be. I owe him.”
“Your grandfather would not–”
“Maybe you don’t understand Papa in the same way I do, Nana! But you know what? Maybe I’ll ask him what he thinks later today, when I visit his grave!”
Before she could protest, before you could be made to feel bad for speaking your mind at last, you wrenched the front door open, threw yourself out, and slammed it with every ounce of force you could muster behind you.
Thankfully it was difficult for Nana to get out on her own. She could manage it, of course, but the elevator was farther down the hall than the stairs and took ages to arrive. You tried to calm yourself in the interim time you had, walking from the apartment to the too-nice car sitting puttering at the curb. You didn’t wait for the driver to open the door as he had when picking you up with Pepper. You did it yourself and felt, upon seeing the inside, a little less angry.
“What, no Mr. Stark?” you asked as you slid in beside Bruce.
He smiled. “No. He didn’t want to seem to come along.”
The car started to move and you tried, once again, to get a hold of your anger. “But he still let you borrow the car?”
“And Happy,” Bruce said with a smile. “It’s really odd, actually. Tony didn’t seem to want to let me go when I asked at first, but when I double-checked this morning, he just told me to have fun.”
“That is strange.”
“He’s been telling me that a lot lately.”
“Aw, does Mommy finally trust her little boy?”
“I try not to understand Tony’s motivations.” He shrugged. “Most of the time I don’t like them. So what kept you?”
You leaned your temple against the warm glass. “I’ll tell you later. I just need a few moments. I don’t want to erupt on you.”
His brown eyes met your gaze. “I understand completely .”
******
Papa’s resting site was a small patch of Easter-green grass a little further into New York state. For the first hour or so, you couldn’t think of much to say to the stone at the top or his grave. It wasn’t even weathered yet, but still you couldn’t feel Papa’s presence lingering. Perhaps it was silly to hope you would, but the empty silence rang on and on. All you could think of was that you should have asked Happy if you could stop for flowers before you arrived.
“So did your grandmother find out about this little escapade?”
You almost jumped at Bruce’s voice. Last you checked, he’d been wandering around looking at some of the other graves. It was somewhat disappointing to find that it was his voice instead of Papa’s, but you got over it quickly enough. Better that the dead stay dead.
When you didn’t answer, Bruce hooked a thumb over his shoulder. “I can leave again, if you need more privacy. You just looked really sad.”
You heaved a sigh and then lowered yourself onto the ground. From that seated position, you squinted up at Bruce. Now the sun was really shining, but you still couldn’t exactly read his face. Maybe you never would be able to.
“I guess I am. But it’s nice, you know? I sort of thought I’d given up being able to feel things.”
“You liked your grandfather?”
“Yes,” you said with a smile.
“More than your grandmother?”
“You’re not supposed to play favorites with family.”
“But if you had to.”
You chewed on the inside of your lip as you nodded slowly. Nana wasn’t around to hear this. The cemetery was empty, and the rather sparse amount of trees and mausoleums would make it easy to spot her coming. Before answering, you pulled your knees to your chest and set your chin onto them.
“Remember when I said I was the only one around to take care of Nana?”
“On our not-first date? Vaguely.”
“Well, the same is true for me. She and Papa adopted me.”
That seemed to catch Bruce off guard a bit. One end of your mouth quirked up. You hadn’t told anyone this story, not a single person that you’d met in Washington. Bruce wouldn’t know that. It must have seemed weird the way you so brazenly brought up the subject.
“When I was almost seventeen,“ you went on, "my parents died in a car crash.”
Bruce took a breath as if he wanted to speak and then closed his mouth. He looked around himself and slid his hands into his pocket. “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be. No one should be sorry. The guy that hit them is dead, too. There’s no one left alive to fault.” You looked down at your toes and murmured the same thing you’d murmured to the half-dozen therapists Papa had driven you to in high school. “I don’t blame myself.”
“Why would you–”
“Nana thought I should.” You forced yourself to look back up at Bruce. He didn’t look uncomfortable, which in turn made you comfortable enough to continue, “They were driving to pick me up from band practice. I played the flute. Anyway, we had a late night rehearsal, and I couldn’t drive then either. From what I gather, some guy was talking on a cellphone and Dad wasn’t paying attention. I didn’t even know. Sat outside the school until ten o’ clock with the director before my next door neighbor came by with the news.”
“Did they die instantly?”
You shook your head. “Three days later in the hospital. Nana and Papa came up to be with me. It took maybe a month to settle everything. Then I moved here. Nana didn’t like it very much.”
“Your grandmother didn’t want you living with her?”
You blinked, then laughed. Of course, that would seem bizarre to anyone else, especially with the way you stated it. One hand waved quickly in front of you as you stood up again.
“Not like that. I wasn’t the granddaughter she remembered. She and Papa had just started the store then, too, something Nana had dreamed about since I was really little. That’s expensive, and all of sudden she had a whole extra mouth to feed. I wasn’t exactly a joy to have around either.”
“But you’d just suffered a loss.” He looked incredulous.
Maybe it was wrong of you, but you thought that was nice. You’d forgotten how to properly feel about the situation, but Bruce was feeling it for you.
“They were her family, too. That’s what Nana always told me. When I didn’t want to go to school or help out at the store or go to high school lacrosse games…or when I ran off from my therapy sessions.”
You scuffed a toe against the ground as you looked at Papa’s grave again. Could he hear you now? Even though he was long dead? You wanted him to know that it wasn’t him you’d ran away from. Bruce didn’t say anything, but you didn’t need to talk to him anymore. Without taking your eyes away from the words reading “Frank [L Name],” you went on:
“I was sad. I didn’t blame myself. I still don’t. I had nothing to do with my parents dying. But Nana knew they had been driving to pick me up, and that was her son, and she made sure I knew it. Of course I didn’t want to work in her shop with her talking like that! Of course I didn’t want to go to school for the last few months of high school in a place where I didn’t know anyone. So instead I stayed in my room and stopped talking to everyone.”
“Did you ever–” Bruce cleared his throat.
You tossed your gaze back over toward him and saw pity there–more than pity. Understanding.
“Did you ever think about suicide?” he asked softly.
What an upfront question. Your first instinct was to deny it. Then you remembered Papa. You didn’t want to be dishonest with him, so you couldn’t be dishonest with Bruce either.
“I thought about it,” you admitted. “I guess I was never brave enough to do more. Instead, I would hold my breath until it hurt. Every single afternoon, alone in my bedroom. It was like reminding myself that even if I wanted to stop, my body didn’t.”
There was a very long, pronounced pause where the only sound came from the wind rustling the flowers leaning against the other tombstones. Your thoughts drifted. Papa must have suspected your feelings because he had tried so hard to get you back into the realm of the living again. It was because of him, his obvious concern, that you were still there.
“I’m sorry,” said Bruce.
You had run out of things to say. Besides, it felt as though you had talked about yourself enough. You stood fully and looked over at Bruce.
“Mm,” you said by way of answer. “Did you?”
“Did I what?”
“Ever consider suicide?”
Bruce’s eyes widened.
“I just figured, if you asked, maybe you had some experience.”
Another silence fell. When Bruce spoke again, it was as if he were forcing the words out, as if stones were tied to the confession: “Tried once. Same problem. My body just wouldn’t quit.”
He sounded…interesting. Half-amused, half-bitter. You gave him a quizzical look, but Bruce was staring off past you. Deciding that you did not want to intrude on whatever moment he was having, you bent a little to wipe the dust off the top of Papa’s headstone. When you finished, you grinned up at Bruce, who was now looking back you. You stretched exaggeratedly
“Ahh, that felt good. I haven’t ever told anyone that story. Thanks, Bruce.”
“Not at all.”
You walked over to stand by him. He did not scuttle a few feet away as he usually did.
“So what about you?” you asked. “What’s your family like?”
“I–My mother is dead.” He shifted uncomfortably. “To say my father and I didn’t get along would be an understatement.”
You regarded him quietly, for how long you didn’t know. It might have been five minutes. It might have been thirty. “And you tried to commit suicide, but it didn’t work.”
“Yeah.”
“Bruce?” you said. “Hold still.”
You stood on your toes, just enough that you could press your lips to his. The kiss was quiet, and he tasted a little bit like burned sugar. You meant to just take a step back, but Bruce tilted his head slightly and pressed his hands into your back. You moved forward, deepening thee kiss; you could feel his lips moving against yours, surprising strongly for a man that was obviously trying to be very careful.
When you needed to catch your breath, you moved away to do so. You couldn’t stop smiling. Looking up at Bruce again, you found him smiling, too.
“I’m sorry if this sounds really inconsiderate,” you said, “but I’m glad. You’re the best thing that’s happened to me in ages. So…I’m glad you exist.”
He shifted again, but the smile didn’t disappear. “Thanks.”
It was about time to go. The sun was showing well past lunch, and you could feel your stomach growling. Another look at Papa’s grave, though, and you were struck suddenly by an idea.
“Could I introduce you to Papa?” you asked.
“Huh?” Bruce blinked, looking startled. “Oh. S-Sure.”
You silently thrust out a hand, only to have Bruce stare it. Your fingers wiggled for a moment, then, after a moment’s hesitation, he took it and allowed you to lead him over.
“Well, then,” you said with a flourish of your free hand. “Bruce Banner, this is my grandfather, Frank [L Name]. Papa, this is my…” You trailed away and looked at Bruce. His eyes stayed on Papa for a moment, and then looked over at you. You gave his hand a gentle squeeze and steeled yourself before finishing, “This is the man I’m in love with, Dr. Bruce Banner.”
If anything you had ever said had startled Bruce, it was nothing compared to this. His eyes grew wide, and he stared and stared and stared some more. It was enough to make you feel very stupid for admitting such a thing, but you would not allow yourself to show it. When you could no longer stand the strain, you took it upon yourself to speak.
“We can leave now,” you said in a stage whisper.
As if rousing himself from sleep, Bruce shook himself. “Oh. Yeah. Sure. Let’s go.”
He didn’t force his hand from your grip as the two of you walked out of the cemetery. Your heart pounded as your thoughts raged angrily in your head. Stupid! Why did you say that? You should have known it was too early to say, should have known it might never happen.
All those reprimands were unneeded. Just as you were about to step back into the car, Bruce spoke:
“[Name]?”
“Yeah?”
“I love you, too.”

MORBIUS FILM REVIEW
Today, I risk my reputation by writing a mildly positive review of a flawed but entertaining movie. Did I like it? Morbiyes I did.
Morbius stars Jared Leto as Dr. Michael Morbius, Matt Smith as Milo, Adria Arjona as Martine Bancroft, Jared Harris as Dr. Emil Nicholas, and Tyrese Gibson as Simon Stroud.
Before I go into the pluses and minuses, what I enjoyed, and the misfires I noticed, I want to address the elephant in the room. The second end credits scene is as dumb and nonsensical as everyone says it is. It raises unneeded questions and is a complete character shift for Morbius. Even though the first one is silly, it at least kind of makes sense, and if that would've been the only end credits scene then I think there would be one less problem with Morbius.
Morbius is nowhere close to the best comic book movie of all time. None of Sony's recent Marvel films have been. One thing Morbius isn't is an unwatchable shit show. Is the script imperfect? Yes. Is every performance great? No. Were the references to other Marvel characters a little corny? Absolutely. Did I enjoy watching the movie? Yes I did, quite a bit at times.
The core performances of Morbius and Milo were the highlights of the film. Jared Leto's performance as Morbius was better than his performance as The Joker in Suicide Squad. It was still cool to see him do vampire stuff and learn how to hone his powers. The theme of all of Sony's Marvel films is that each hero has a dark side and Morbius fits that theme about as well as you'd want.
Matt Smith stole just about every scene he was in. His character was basically Morbius if he turned off his morals and boosted his ego. The personal connection between Morbius and Milo did help with the story. Does it follow the trope of a hero's first villain basically being an evil version of himself to a T? Yeah, you bet, but it didn't detract from the film in my opinion.
The secondary characters in this film, are relatively unremarkable but are not unimportant to the plot. Gibson's Simon Stroud and his partner Alberto Rodriguez, played by Al Madrigal (who is a really good stand up comedian–check him out sometime) are pretty one dimensional. They're your usual FBI guys trying to figure out what's going on with Morbius. They also know about what happened in the Venom movies, so I'll bet they'll be showing up in future Sony Marvel films like the next Venom movie and/or Kraven the Hunter. Dr. Nicholas exists to be the father figure who dies. Dr. Bancroft is the Betty Ross to Morbius's Incredible Hulk. These characters aren’t useless, but are about as interesting as a freshly sharpened pencil.
It's films like Morbius that point out what I dislike about Rotten Tomatoes. Morbius is not a really bad movie like RT implies with its score. I'd say the C+ CinemaScore is a more apt rating than a 16% splat. To be even more defensive, I'd say that the effects are cool, only some of the performances are mechanical, and the plot is more by the books than nonsensical. Morbius happens in a just-fine way, and a film about a man cursed with vampirism should be a little dark and depressing. I might make some people mad by saying Morbius is of the same quality as 2008's The Incredible Hulk, which has a fresh Tomatometer score, but damn it, I'm gonna stand by what I think.
To bounce off of that thought into the conclusion of this article, I'd give Morbius a 7/10. It's flawed but fine and definitely not unwatchable. I would rent this film from Amazon when it comes out and not feel bad about it. I still want to see where this franchise goes and what will become of Sony's Spiderman Universe. The only direction the Morbius series can go is up, and–thanks to his power set–he isn't vertically challenged. Just no more end credit scenes please, especially ones that are really stupid.
SCORE: 7/10

Voice Actors for VA-11 HALL-A?
Years ago I played VA-11 HALL-A: Cyberpunk Bartending Action on Steam and I absolutely loved it. Just for shiggles I wrote up a incomplete list of who I thought would be great voice actors for the game at the time. It was left to dry until I recently bought VA-11 HALL-A for the Nintendo switch and out of boredom I decided to finish it and this was the end result:
Tara Strong as Jill.
Mary Elizabeth McGlynn as Dana
Gianni Matragrano as Gill.
Christopher Sabat as Donovan.
Charles White Jr. (AKA Cr1TiKaL) as Ingram.
Elias Toufexis as Jamie.
Paul C. Nodine as Virgilio.
Guy Cunningham as Taylor.
Marc Soskin (AKA GangXingBa) as Rad Shiba (Maybe?)
Dave Wittenberg as Nacho (Maybe?)
Taylor McNee as Dorothy and Anna.
Lindsay Jones as Sei, Norma and Gabriella (Maybe?)
Marÿke Hendrikse as Betty.
Corinne Sudberg (AKA Megami33) as Stella.
Ross Scott as Deal.
Jenny Slate as Alma.
AmaLee as *Kira* Mikki.
Sherry Lynn as Kim.
Sean Murray as Brian.
As for the secret characters...well, since they're all from the same game why not use their original voice actresses?

Justified Murderesses: Killer Women in History Who Got Their Own Justice in Unjust Times
{CW: sexual assault, murder, domestic violence, racism}
1. Maria Barbella
(1895)
Maria Barbella was an Italian immigrant who lived in New York with her family. She was courted by Domenico Cataldo, another Italian immigrant. Unbeknownst to Maria, he was already married (his wife and children were still in Italy). One day, Domenico took Maria to a boarding house and bought her a drink which he drugged to incapacitate her and he raped her. Maria was horrified and he told her would he make her an honest woman and marry her. However, he soon admitted he wasn't going to marry her and dumped her. On April 26th, 1895, Maria's mother took her to confront Domenico and demanded he marry Maria. Domenico first said he would marry her for $200 but then declared that 'only a pig would marry her'. Maria attacked Domenico and slashed his throat with a shaving razor. She was arrested on the spot. Maria admitted to what she did and why she did it, but her trial was hardly fair. Everything was spoken in English, which Maria did not understand nor could speak at the time. Her rape by Domenico was also barred from being mentioned. She was found guilty and sentenced to death by electric chair. However, the Italian-American community and suffragettes spoke out against the trial in defense of Maria. The case was appealed and Maria got a second trial where she spoke out about her rape. She was acquitted this time. She reappeared in the news again when she saved a neighbor from a fire. She eventually married another Italian immigrant and had a son but by 1902 they were separated.
2. Lastania Abarta
(1881)
Lastania Abarta was a Basque-Mexican Los Angeles native. She worked at her family's pool hall as a singer. A beautiful 18-year-old, she caught the attention of frequent customer 40-year-old Chico Forster, the son of a wealthy Los Angeles land developer. Despite her being already engaged, Forster wooed Lastania and proposed to her. Lastania fell in love with Forster and agreed. Lastania joined him at the Moiso Mansion Hotel where he said her would marry her. Forster attempted to get her to sleep with him, but Lastania refused as she insisted on only sleeping with him once they were married. Forster was angered by Lastania's refusal and kept her in the room for three days. Lastania still refused and Chico basically raped her. He then left, saying he would find a priest to marry them. But he never returned. Lastania realized her mistake and returned home, only to be disowned for running off to elope with Chico. Lastania bought a gun with the intention of killing herself. Her sister stopped her and helped her find Chico to get him to marry her and restore her honor. Forster refused. Lastania took her gun out and shot Chico. Lastania was arrested and charged with murdering Forster. Chico's father hired prosecutor Stephen M. White (who would later become a senator) to ensure that Lastania was punished. But her defense argued that Lastania was suffering from "female hysteria" when she killed Chico. The defense even produced the bed sheets from the hotel room evident with blood from Lastania losing her virginity by force at the hands of Chico. Lastania was acquitted in April of 1881 and she went on to marry and leave town.
3. Paula Angel
(1861)
Paula Angel was the only woman legally executed in New Mexico after it was indoctrinated into US territory. She came from a prominent Mexican-American family and was well-known for her beauty. She caught the eye of Juan Miguel Martin, the son of a very prominent family. Martin courted Paula and made promises of marriage to her. In love and believing they would soon marry, Paula gave in to Martin's advances and gave him her virginity. However, she was unaware that Martin was a known womanizer and was already married. Martin kept his status a secret from Paula and told her he would marry her, but Paula began to doubt him and became desperate. Paula was in a hard situation. As a young, unmarried woman, her virtue was important and if it became known she slept with a man outside of wedlock she would've been disowned and dishonored by society. Paula confronted Martin outside a bar one night in March of 1861. Martin taunted her and she drew out a knife and stabbed him repeatedly in front of everyone. She was promptly arrested and charged. Paula's trial was tampered by Martin's family who wanted Paula to pay for her crime, regardless of Martin's own bad behavior. Paula was sentenced to death and was hanged on April 26th, 1861. When she was hung, the noose snapped and she fell, still alive. Back then, the law stated that if someone survived their hanging, they were free to go. But despite her family's pleas, Paula was hung again, this time strangling her until she died.
4. Betty Butler
(1952)
Betty Evelyn Butler was the first black woman to be executed by electric chair in the United States. Betty was executed for killing Evelyn Clark, whom Betty lived with and admitted to having an affair with, though the affair was not consensual on Betty's part. Betty was married to a pastor and had two children, but she was a closeted lesbian. Given that she was black and lived during a post-war, religious conservative community, it was understandable. But when her affairs with women were uncovered by her husband, he kicked her out, divorced her and took their children, and she was turned into a pariah. She fled to Ohio, homeless and with no money. It was at this low point in her life that Evelyn Clark and her husband took her in. However, Evelyn did not take her in out of kindness. Betty was propositioned to sexually service Clark in exchange for food and shelter. The arrangement took a toll on Betty and on September 6, 1952, she snapped. While on a fishing trip with a friend, Clark made advances towards Betty and taunted her. This was the final straw for Betty and she attacked Evelyn, strangling her with a handkerchief then dunking her head underwater to drown her. The deadly assault was witnessed by many other people present at the lake. Betty was arrested and charged with murder. It was claimed she attacked Evelyn out of jealousy towards her making advances on another woman. Betty recounted her predicament under Evelyn Clark for all to hear but to no avail. She was scorned and slandered by society as a deviant who abandoned her children and she was found guilty by the all white, male jury at her trial. She was executed on July 11, 1954, at 26-years-old.
5. Bathsheba Spooner
(1778)
Bathsheba Ruggles Spooner was the first woman to be hanged in the newly independent United States of America. She came from a prominent family of men who worked in the justice system, but the family was also known to be Tories. Bathsheba was married off to Joshua Spooner, a wealthy farmer, and they had four children. Unfortunately, Joshua Spooner was a violent man who abused Bathsheba. Being the 18th century and a new country, resources and legal rights for women, even abused women, were basically nonexistent. Women could not divorce their husbands and if they fled they were captured and brought back to them. Trapped in this abusive marriage, Bathsheba found comfort in the arms of young soldier, Ezra Ross. The affair led to Bathsheba becoming pregnant, which threatened to expose her affair to her abusive husband and their misogynist, religious community (adulteresses were severely punished under colonial law). To save herself and finally break free from her abusive husband, Bathsheba enlisted the help of Ezra and two other men to get rid of Joshua Spooner. On February 28th, 1778, Spooner was beaten to death and tossed into the Spooner estate's well. The murder was soon uncovered and Bathsheba, Ezra, and their cohorts were arrested and charged. Bathsheba's predicament earned her no mercy and her family's reputation as Tories worsened her chances at trial. She was hastily sentenced to death and executed alongside her lover and partners on July 2nd, 1778.
6. Ruby McCollum
(1952)
Ruby Jackson McCollum was a wealthy Florida woman married to a a successful businessman. She and her husband were prominent members of Live Oak and were respectable and had four children together. Ruby became a patient to another prominent Live Oak member, Dr. C. Leroy Adams. While under his care, Ruby was horribly violated by Adams. She was sexually abused by him which led to her becoming pregnant and having his child. Even though she was a popular member of the Florida elite, she was well aware that her chances of being listened to and protected were slim. In this time and place, the practice of "paramour rights" was quite common. "Paramour rights" was the belief that a white man had a right to sleep with a black woman, regardless of her consent. Black women who did report their assaults were not only ignored, they were also ridiculed, shamed, harassed, and even arrested. Understandably, Ruby did not speak out about what was being done to her until she couldn't take it anymore. On August 3rd, 1952, she went to Dr. Adams' office and shot him in broad daylight. She didn't flee or resist when she was arrested by police. Ruby finally opened up about what she had endured. Her first trial was a disaster: Ruby was banned from testifying and her defense wasn't allowed to prove or go into detail about her abuse. The prosecution further invalidated her by claiming she killed Adams over a bill instead. On December 20th, 1952, Ruby was found guilty of first degree murder by an all white male jury and was sentenced to death. However, Ruby's case had garnered major attention from the Civil Rights movement and the black community. Her story of abuse and the mishandling of her case caused outrage and sympathy for her. Two years later, her conviction was overturned and she was granted a second trial. Ruby was examined for her next trial and she was found to be mentally unfit. She was committed to Florida State Hospital where she stayed until 1974 when she was finally released through the Baker Act.

i don't know what's happening but it's happening
“Nick,” Schmidt says, throwing himself into the booth next to her at the bar and grabbing her arm. “I need you to verify to that girl who looks so much like Jessica Alba that she might actually be Jessica Alba that I’m the only man who’s ever made you question your lesbian lifestyle.”
“. . .I’m too drunk to decide whether that’s offensive or not,” Nick says, squinting at him, “but you know I have to go sleep with that girl now, right?”
“I have dibs, Nicole,” Schmidt says, gasping, because he’s pretty drunk, too. Schmidt dramatically gasps 10% more with every drink he has. Nick hasn’t actually done that math but she feels that it’s true and she’s pretty sure that matters just as much. Feelings are the statistics of your heart.
She should write that down.
“Didn’t call ‘em,” she says, climbing over Coach’s lap and barely making it to her feet without falling. She lifts her arms a little like it’s an accomplishment.
“Do you think she’ll get her?” Schmidt asks, sounding like he’s pouting as Nick walks away.
“Nick can be confusingly hot when she wants to be,” Coach says, noncommittally. “It could really go either way.”
Nick’s wearing a black tank top under an open flannel and borderline uncomfortably tight jeans and that’s basically her at the peak of her wardrobe game so between that and the drinks, at least she’s really confident about trying to get in her pants before it’s an absolute swing and a miss and she has to walk of shame back to their table.
“She doesn’t look that much like Jessica Alba,” she mutters, sitting next to Schmidt again.
“Is she straight?” Schmidt asks. “Immune to your surprising lesbian wiles? Should I try again?”
“She is bisexual,” Nick says, “and not interested in either of us. She clearly has good taste.”
“I just need it to be known that I could absolutely get with that girl,” Coach says, “but she is currently looking at our table like she’s contemplating calling the cops and we know which of the three of us is getting arrested in that scenario.”
“Right, right,” Schmidt says, nodding solemnly. “With the racism and everything.”
Nick turns around to see the girl talking to someone else at her table, immediately whipping back around when they make eye contact and almost knocking all three of their drinks over.
She looks a lot more like Jessica Alba from far away.
*
Jess’ smile is too big.
“I think she’s a serial killer,” Nick says, when they move to the kitchen and leave Jess sitting on the couch in the middle of her roommate interview. “I think she’s mastered the art of politeness to hide her evil machinations.”
“Uhm, I can hear you,” Jess says, still smiling when they all glance over. “I promise I’m not a serial killer. Now a cereal killer, that’s another thing. I mean, cereal with a C. I really like cereal. Not that I’ll eat your cereal because I’m also extremely thoughtful and a perfect roommate who, to be truly honest, really needs this right now.”
They’re all quiet.
“Bedroom,” Nick hisses, grabbing Schmidt by his sleeve and tugging him toward his bedroom, shutting the door behind her and leaning against it. “Okay, clearly she’s a terrible fit, right?”
“She seems like she should be turning Zach Braff into a fully realized human through indie music in the film Garden State,” Schmidt says, “but, otherwise, having a hot girl in the loft seems like it has advantages. Sex, for one. And hot girls tend to have hot girl friends.”
“She’s not hot,” Nick says. “She’s. . .”
She’s beautiful. But that’s not even the point.
“Oh, wow, you’re actually attracted to her and not just in a skeevy ass way like Schmidt,” Coach says, pointing at her like he’s about to laugh at her. “Your face is doing that stupid dreamy thing you refuse to accept that it does when a girl makes you feel something.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about it,” Nick mutters, crossing her arms over her chest and ducking her head. “She’s ugly and I hate her.”
“This is adorable,” Coach says, smiling at her when she looks up again, even when she glares at him.
“Look, you know I fall in love with any woman I spend more than an hour with,” she says. “That’s why I live with you two. It’s. . it’s heartbreak insurance, I get gayer every minute I spend with you.”
“. . .I am genuinely wounded by that,” Schmidt says, placing his hand over his heart.
“Are you both voting yes?” Nick asks. Coach and Schmidt cut each other glances like they’re communicating with their eyes somehow before turning back to her and nodding. “Okay, I have one last question.”
She marches out to stand in front of Jess.
“I’m fully gay,” Nick says, vaguely gesturing at everything about herself. “If that makes you uncomfortable, then that’s a hate crime and I need you leave right now.”
“Oh, I love gay people!” Jess says, brightly. “I mean, not in a creepy way, I just love them as much as I love everybody else. Maybe more. I actually sewed a rainbow flag with, like, an absurd amount of sequins for one of my suitemates in college? It turned out that she wasn’t gay, she just had blue hair, and also she didn’t like it at all but my fingers did bleed, so.”
“Well, thanks, Betty Crocker,” Nick says.
“. . .I think she means Betsy Ross,” Schmidt says, fondly, after a beat.
“Well, I also bake a mean cake,” Jess says, laughing nervously, “and I will bake as many cakes as it takes until you’re all my best friend if you let me live with you. So many cakes.”
“I actually don’t eat sugar because I want to maintain peak physical--” Schmidt starts, before Nick elbows him.
“Let the woman bake, Schmidt,” she says, giving him a look.
Everything about Jess screams I am very good at baking.
Nick’s not sure if she’s going to like Jess but cake is one of her favorite foods and also coping mechanisms and also a balanced breakfast.
“Does that mean what I think it means?” Jess asks.
Nick nods reluctantly and Jess immediately stands up to wrap her arms around her, hugging Nick despite the fact that she keeps her arms firmly at her side, where they should remain forever around her.
“You look like a chocolate gal,” Jess says, when she lets go of her.
“. . .you’re not wrong,” Nick admits. Jess beams.
“I hope you all like festive sprinkles,” she says, immediately heading for the kitchen, “‘cuz you’re getting them.”

FORMAT: VOB (with smalls) (SD)

NOTES: Beautiful HD capture of one of the Final Dress Rehearsals. Top notch production and thrilling performances from Alice, Keaton, and the whole cast! This is quite a unique capture since it was the first time the blood was dropped. Too many amazing things to point out here, don't miss this one!!! A+ Well filmed with a nice mix of close-ups and full stage shots and no obstructions. Based on the revised Off-Broadway version, and presented at the Balagan Theatre. Because this was recorded at the final run-through prior to opening night, there are a few “holds” as they worked out any kinks: * After “Evening Prayers” there is a hold to change all microphone batteries, resulting in most of the song being run a second time (the sound check was removed and put as a bonus at the end of act two). * During the scene where Carrie is getting ready for the prom a microphone made a "farting" noise and Alice grabbed her butt and said "sorry" which made the cast and tech crew laugh.
Carrie: The Musical - Seattle - October 13, 2013 (Pro-Shot's master)
FORMAT: MP4 (SD)
CAST: Keaton Whittaker (Carrie White), Alice Ripley (Margaret White), Larissa Schmitz (Sue Snell), Kody Bringman (Tommy Ross), Tessa Archer (Chris Hargensen), Andrew Brewer (Billy Nolan), Kendra Kassebaum (Lynn Gardner), Brian Lange (Mr. Stephens), Erin Herrick (Norma), Melissa Maricich (Frieda), Frederick Habreen (George), Riley Neldham (Freddy), Alexandria Henderson (Helen), Eli Wills (Stokes)
NOTES: One of the first regional productions of the revised Carrie. Good to have Ripley in something.
Carrie: The Musical - Stagedoor Manor - July 31, 1999
FORMAT: MP4 (SD)
CAST: Julie Kleiner (Carrie White), Vivienne Cleary (Margaret White), Nina Sturtz (Miss Gardner), Kaily Smith (Chris), Erin Evers (Sue), Blair Late (Tommy)
NOTES: Another abridged version. Video suffers from gen loss but has cleaned up decently. Piano is the only instrument in the orchestra, and it drowns out some of the singers. This has been incorrectly labelled as an authorized production, which is incorrect - this was an unauthorized production (e.g., no rights were secured before the production), though Gore (and Cohen) were in the audience of this performance and chose not to sue Jeff Murphy and Stagedoor over copyright infringement, partly because Gore said he had always wanted to see the show done with actual teenagers (reported by Jeff Murphy, the director).
Carrie: The Musical - Stratford-Upon-Avon - February 16, 1988 (Preview) (Pro-Shot's master)
FORMAT: MP4 (SD)
CAST: Linzi Hateley (Carrie White), Barbara Cook (Margaret White), Sally Ann Triplett (Sue Snell), Paul Gyngell (Tommy Ross), Charlotte d'Amboise (Chris Hargensen), Gene Anthony Ray (Billy Nolan), Darlene Love (Lynn Gardner)
NOTES: Filmed professionally for the RSC archives on the third night of the performance (February 16, 1988). Shot from first row mezzanine center with no obstructions with audio taken directly from the soundboard. Mostly a full stage shots without zooms. This is usually incorrectly labelled as "Opening Night (February 13, 1988)", which is incorrect, as on opening night, Barbara Cook was almost decapitated right after the set changes from "Don't Waste The Moon", which not seen in this video (also verified by the person who copied this from the archives).

NOTES: A nice capture of the short lived show. Disc also includes around 100 minutes of interviews, B-Roll, behind the scenes, etc. Great video with nice picture and clear sound. A

CAST: Aaron Tveit (Frank Abagnale, Jr.), Norbert Leo Butz (Agent Carl Hanratty), Tom Wopat (Frank Abagnale, Sr.), Rachel de Benedet (Paula Abagnale), Kerry Butler (Brenda Strong), Linda Hart (Carol Strong)

CAST: Alex Jennings (Willy Wonka), Zachary Loonie (Charlie Bucket), Billy Boyle (u/s Grandpa Joe), Vincent Finch (Augustus Gloop), Amy Carter (Veruca Salt), Rhianna Dorris (Violet Beauregarde), Daniel Rhodes (Mike Teavee)
NOTES: Fun show with very imaginative staging, though I do wish they used more songs from (either) movie. The first 5 minutes of Act One has some wandering and blackouts, but after that it is a steady and unobstructed shot. Includes curtain call.
Chasing Rainbows - Paper Mill Playhouse - October, 2019 (StarCuffedJeans's master)

CAST: Karen Mason (Ma Lawlor), Stephen DeRosa (LB Mayer), Colin Hanlon (Roger Edens), Karen Mason (Kay Koverman), Ruby Rakos (Judy Garland), Lesli Margherita (Ethel Gumm), Max von Essen (Frank Gumm), Michael Wartella (Mickey Rooney)
NOTES: Great HD capture of this Judy Garland bio musical focusing on her early years, leading up to The Wizard of Oz, with a couple of fun tap numbers! Act One starts when Judy sings a version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow (same tune but with different lyrics). Act Two starts part way through the number right before they enter the MGM studio. Please do not post screenshots of this video on Twitter ever. Gifs on Tumblr are okay after the NFT date, but don't go linking things to actors and shows.
The Cher Show - Broadway - April, 2019 (StarCuffedJeans's master)
FORMAT: MP4 (HD)

NOTES: Beautiful HD close-ups but some long drop-outs and quite a few obstructed scenes. The rake in the mezzanine at the Neil Simon kinda stinks and I'm pretty sure the ushers were playing flashlight tag with each other the entire show. but I began to care a lot less as the night went on Video is very Cher-centric...choreography in "Dark Lady" is captured beautifully, but for the rest of the show I was mostly focused on getting those Stephanie, Teal, and Micaela zooms. We start at the scene before "Half Breed" and when Stephanie tells everyone to stand up for the finale it's all over for my filming ability.

NOTES: Almost the full show (2 hours and 7 minutes). Usually referred to as Press Reels, this is actually the unedited footage shot for press or archival purposes. Decent amount on generation loss with some distortion at the top of the screen, and a time code at the bottom. Sometimes incorrectly labeled as 1995 .

NOTES: The original Broadway cast filmed prior to moving to Broadway. Professionally filmed using multiple cameras for the Lincoln Center Theatre on Film and Tape (TOFT) archives. Newly surfaced video which is a HUGE improvement over the previous version which has been in circulation for a while. This is also complete and includes the opening announcement alerting the audience that the show is being filmed. Amazing quality, but still has a little generational loss. In black and white. The DVD has been enhanced with chapter stops for all of the musical numbers. This, along with the tapes of Crazy for You and Passion, is amongst the only three TOFT tapes that have been leaked.

NOTES: HD capture of the Australian company of this fantastic musical. Includes a video of a post-show Q&A with the cast in honour of the 18th anniversary of September 12. Shot from the back row of the dress circle, so a head blocks the centre at times but it’s shot around where possible. Most noticeable in the group numbers where a lot of the action is downstage. The first 4 minutes or so is mostly wandering shots as I was setting up my camera and evading ushers. A lot of great close-ups - Zoe’s “Me and the Sky” is a highlight.

NOTES: As far as I know, the first ever video of the Toronto production! I had the entire show in VOB format ready to post but, unfortunately, I lost the USB it was on in the middle of an airport. Luckily I was able to salvage all but thirty minutes of the original footage, so all that's lost is part of the scene after "I Am Here" and a portion of "Somewhere In The Middle Of Nowhere". If you find a USB the size of a thumbnail around Pearson, it's a $5 reward! A flu passed around the cast that they were all just recovering from, and at one point you can see Bev take a tissue out of her pilot's jacket and blow her nose. It explains the large number of understudies on, particularly of interest is that of the role of Hannah being played by a Caucasian actress, which causes her absence for the bus scene and leads to a severely different dynamic I'd not seen the character played as before.

NOTES: The bottom left of the video is slightly obstructed by a lighting rail. The master accidentally stop recording during '38 Planes' but realized right away so it’s only missing a second or two. Some nice close-ups. Clive misses the cue for the first “Welcome to the Rock!”

NOTES: Incomplete: starts 12 mins in. Shot around heads. The combination of the revolve and the lighting of this show might make it a jolty watch but the action is caught as best as possible. If I had to decide who to film, I chose Rachel Tucker.
