Surprise on the C&EI
This was an interesting sight: a northbound (TOFC) train with Southern Railway power on the former Chicago & Eastern Illinois (Mopac by this time). We're in central Illinois, not far from Tuscola.
Perhaps this run-through arrangement was a way for the Southern to make it to Chicago—they really should have snapped up the Monon prior to the L&N getting that road in 1971.
That lead unit, as SD35, was built for the Central of Georgia in 1966. It's interesting to note that the Southern purchased all their locomotives with high-short-hoods and tended to run long-hood forward, but not always. I always loved this idiosyncrasy with the Southern Railway as well as the Norfolk & Western.

What will a reunion between papa XD and Dream look like? Pardon me for I am utterly obsessed with them ueueueue
Hey, it just means I get to talk more about my boys!! Ask away ^^ It takes a long time, Dream is an adult by the time they meet again.
Dream was worried his papa wouldn't recognize him, or be mad that he disappeared, or disappointed it took him this long to reach the End.
Tumblr media
Exdee actually needed a moment to recognize his boy, it had been so long since they'd been face to face, and Dream is no longer a child. He'd imagined this moment countless times throughout the years - but reality still took him by surprise.
Tumblr media
He's tall, almost as tall as Exdee in his human form, with broad shoulders and sun-bleached hair. They look almost identical to each other, and yet the person standing before him is so different.
Tumblr media
It's all good though, the moment the mask comes off, there's no doubt this is his little boy. He's a little scarred, and there are lines under his eyes but it's him. Exdee loved his son the moment he created him, rooted for him from afar, and continued to love him even worlds apart.

The Void God is just happy he can hold his son again.

The MoPac at Tuscola
To follow up on the previous two posts—another couple of train movements in Tuscola, Illinois, taken the same day.
Here we see both southbound and northbound trains, taken some time apart. The trains are on the former C&EI and are approaching the crossing with the Illinois Central and the B&O at TY Tower. The Union Pacific would get this line just five years later.

Dearborn St. Station, Chicago, 12AUG'68
The Orland Park local has disappeared for its former Wabash commuter territory, while that Santa Fe RS1 switches passenger cars on left. The MoPac/C&EI E7 (28) departs with the "Danville Flyer", and the C&WI RS1 remains by the freight house with its caboose. Already the fresh blue on the E7 is marred by evidence of "mud pumps" along the way to and from Danville.

Thisbis why i think cwil would make a great orpheus but i think ctommy would too… if you remove the romance bc sorry ctommy shipping will never be my cup of tea. but the idealism and the aggressive hope and the pushing back against the most feared authority for even a chance to fight for a loved one who everyone told you abandoned you? disregarding everyone telling you its not meant to be and never giving up on people, even the one who has your fate in his hands? youre telling me thats not fucking ctommy .
