Here is my previous post with my lawbin fics recommendation, since many new ones have come up (thanks to all the amazing lawbin writers, the number of fics has gone up a lot omg), I'm updating my recommendation again! :)

Me&You by Cericebelle Of course I need to recommend the new fic by @cericebelle! Love the high school lawbin, overthinking law and 'bad boy' x 'good girl' combo, they are never not fun to read. The comedy had me laughing a lot too! Mostly fluff but it's not completed yet!

Bonded by BrigidFromTheCelts It's definitely my new favorite lawbin one shot from @brigidfromthecelts! It has everything - how they met, fluff & angst and the theme of 'bonding' are so well written. Although it's a one shot, make sure you save an hour or two to read this haha!

Let It All Go by BrigidFromTheCelts Another lawbin short (is it short tho? haha) fic from @brigidfromthecelts, the angst and sexual tension in this fic is just so good 👌👌

@rebtrovert-girl :re Poneglyph, a few others have pointed it out, so let me explain my reasoning as to why I think his main goal was to send it to the government.

Of course, the government doesn't want pirates to know about the glyphs. But that's precisely what makes those some good blackmailing items -> "I'll give you this forbidden thing I already have so you want me on your side rather than the opposite." Doflamingo himself pretty much used the same trick. Law's would be humbler bc he can't read the glyphs lol

Another take is that he was searching for the Poneglyph for his own curiosity rather than using it for bargaining. It seems Law was already separated from his crew. It's not like he was never reckless until then but, taking an extremely risky detour for personal curiosity alone while he was around the last phase of an entirely different self-imposed mission doesn't sound right. Rocky Port incident had been portrayed so far as a part of Law's strategy to slip inside government's system (by becoming a Shichibukai) and gain access to SAD factory. A different motive twists the existing narrative a bit, imo.

Instead, I think his curiosity to know more about the past took a better shape as a byproduct of this mission. If it was indeed a Rio Poneglyph, that's something only a selected group of people would find value in, like Robin, Teach, and ofc the Government. Maybe Law's queries about his checkered fate were properly realized at the sight of the stone. I do think he was always curious about his ancestral history and checkered fate, but he suppressed it until Doflamingo was defeated. His life was almost entirely dedicated to Cora alone until then.

The Rocky Port incident...

...turned out to be another instance of Law meticulously crafting a plan only to shoot himself in the foot, then forming an emergency alliance and somehow turning the tide in his favor. That's incredibly consistent 😭

But now everything makes more sense. It seems Law's intended bargaining chip for becoming a Shichibukai was to hand over a Poneglyph/rubbings to the World Government, and he was accepted not because he submitted 100 hearts of random pirates, but primarily because he played a key role in taking down Ochoku and saving some VIP royalties (also for securing the Poneglyph, I suppose).

According to the translation we have in hand rn, the name of the vessel Law hijacked was "Rocky Port". We know there's a port in Hachinosu with the same name. Maybe it was named after the ship after this incident.

But what "important" Poneglyph was there, anyway?

I don't think it's the missing Road Poneglyph. Probably a Rio Poneglyph protected by the resident pirates. I wonder if Law was originally looking for the Road Poneglyph possessed by the man marked by flame, but then changed his target. Curious that he didn't know two of the Road Poneglyphs are possessed by pirates, let alone Kaidou and Linlin..

The chaos that broke out was not part of Law's plan, he was lucky that Blackbeard arrived to join the fun, and they could come to an agreement. Koby, on the other hand, was probably the only marine who agreed to work with the pirates, and thus was able to save the most number of innocent 'Rocky Port' passengers.

I'm pretty sure it was Law who proposed the alliance. Scoring cookie points aside, his conscience surely kicked in. It wasn't his style to drag a ship of innocent civilians to a devil's nest, so he offered to form a pact with the marines to reduce casualty. Without his presence that buffered both sides, a three way alliance wouldn't have been possible.

I had a hunch that Blackbeard and Law might have worked together for some time. But why did Blackbeard need to work with Law? Was Ochoku that strong?

It seems Law didn't know Blackbeard could use two fruits at once (during their flight at Winner island), so Blackbeard likely didn't go all out. Possibly it was of Blackbeard's best interest to secure his victory without greatly damaging the island that he was soon going to rule, so he decided to follow Law's plan. He likely invited Law to his crew too, similar to Kuzan.

In retrospect, it makes sense as to why the alliance with the Straw hats puzzled Law so much, it wasn't because he didn't expect the chaos but because it was entirely different from his previous experience.

I didn't expect the main story the dive deep into Rocky Port incident, it was only a matter of time until we got a short summary. There's enough meat to it to extend it into a short comic, and there's plenty of time in future.

For now, I'm looking forward to the Japanese fanworks flood on Monday 🍿

@thelazynihonjin @rebtrovert-girl Thanks for validating me, guys! Also, it's a shame that the actor has only a few kdramas, hopefully in the future we'll see him as someone who's a good boy. I don't think particularly soft roles would fit him, but someone manly and loyal who gets really flustered with his girl, even when she bickers with him. Sortta like Byung-Yeon in Love under the moonlight (I had third lead syndrome with him, sortta like I have third lead syndrome with Dohwa here... Like I don't OTP him with Dan oh cause mah boy Haru's the one for her, but if Haru didn't exist and Dohwa was the one who could help her change the story...).

I'm leggitly concerned so many people root for him just cause the actor is cute.

I get the idea of liking bad guys, heck I have many villain x heroine ships... But rooting for someone who's actively abusive / violent? That's so messed up.

I practically don't care he has a bs sob story, he actively bullies her/mistreats her, goddamn abuses her until she has suffers a mini heart attack or whatever happens to her heart and ENDS UP IN HOSPITAL. THIS IS NOT OKAY. This guy is systemically murdering her, he know she has a heart condition, he crushes the device that measures her heartbeat with his foot, he crushes the present she got him with his foot (and she actually wanted to give this present to Haru), he publicly cheats on her even though they're engaged, he humiliates her each time there are people around her, he tells her that he hates her, that she should just stay at the hospital, he leaves her alone in a friggin haunted forest where a horror surprise could make literally die from fear WHILE SHE'S HAVING AN EPISODE IB FRONT OF HIM, he throws away her lucky charm into the sea and she's FORCED to search for it until she almost drowns. He always presumes she's all about him and abuses her for it, even though she's just minding her own business. When he sees that she's moving on from him and she's found someone that actually treats her kindly and - god forbid - she's smiling, he starts beating the guy in front of her and bashes his head until he bleeds and threatens her that this is what he'd do to her next cause god forbid she receives some kindness in her life and someone actually loves her.
