@bxrningblack
"Hello, Cassie."
He knows how he looks, which is why he's perfectly still outside of the window and why he makes sure his voice is softer than it otherwise should be.
Trying to have this talk at the compound would be impossible, and he doesn't want to chance getting lucky and finding her elsewhere in the city. No. Here at Gotham Academy was the best place to find her.
"I won't hurt you. I just want to ask about Deacon Blackfire."

@bxrningblack from [x]
Seeing her startle, Tim immediately held his hands up and backed up about three paces. Forgot to turn off the silent walking again. Whoops.
"Sorry, thought you saw me coming." He apologised before sitting across the table from her and pulling out his lunch. "I'm fine, just had a bout of insomnia last night so I didn't sleep."
Not a complete lie. Patrol had been a lot and by the time his adrenaline started to crash, his alarm for school was about to go off so he just downed an energy drink and hoped it would be enough. He had planned to sneak off by now but once he saw Cassie, he figured he may as well come say hello.
"But I'm not the only one, you're looking pretty tired yourself. Everything okay?"

She comes in peace. Purple flowers on the ground next to her before the old stone. "....I never knew mine. And you didn't know yours so..." Maybe even tortured ghosts deserved Mother's Day flowers. "Wanna just sit a bit?"
WHO GAVE YOU THE RIGHT TO DEVASTATE ME LIKE THIS Mothers day things accepted, since i'm crying anyway I GUESS @bxrningblack
It wouldn't be the first time the little witch had made her way to Amity's grave. But it was the first time she'd ever come bearing gifts. The ancient stone scarcely still had trace of her name. Leaning over a bit, and hollow underneath. Even lacking her bones, she still felt drawn to it. Amity had left the academy. Not being able to tolerate Olive's crying in her room all day. Sybil should still be here. Even the asylum had a glum that just hovered through the halls and cells. No one needed to say anything. The silent sad looks said enough.
She wasn't expecting anyone to be at her stone. Or anything so soft and pretty laying along with it. There were plenty visitors in the grounds today, she'd seen them with their gifts and flowers. They never come this far back though. The city's oldest souls scarcely had an audience. Coming closer, she brushed over the petals while listening to the baby witch.
Nothing could have prepared her for that offered explanation. Like getting shot, it takes her down to her knees. Beatrix, Beatrix, Beatrix.
And want to know a secret? This ghost can still cry.

@bxrningblack liked for a starter
With each day that Thad found himself stepping in to Gotham City, the more he began to realize that he knew less about the city than he originally thought. His purpose in Gotham recently, other than his typical villain business, was to familiarize himself with the city.
After all it was better to know the twist and turns of the back roads and the secrets of the city than to be caught by surprise by them in a moment where rounding one corner over another could be your last.
It was through this desire to know more that unintentionally Thad had found himself surprised by the city and sent stumbling downwards toward the unknown.
Whether it had been a step or a stumble or something else entirely like the ground giving up beneath his feet he, with a groan of pain and a grumble of frustration as he picked himself off of the dark ground, found himself amid Gotham's tunnels.
"This is what I get for being nosy isn't it?" He scoffs to himself, after all who else would be lurking in what appeared to be long abandoned tunnel system? Right?
"Great, just great." He mutters to himself as he looks about and tries to get his bearings, but not long is spent on that as his grumbling ceases and his head whips around. He stares down one direction of the tunnel silently. He had heard something or so he thought.
"Is someone there?" He calls out into the dark.

wait, how do you know about that
"Harvey Dent studied law from the time he graduated high school 'til he was... well, twenty-something.
He didn't skip over the ugly parts. Not learning from the past means you're doomed to repeat it... right?"

@bxrningblack | starter call.
A quiet morning ambush. Mary steps out of the doorway behind the girl with the air of someone collecting the paper off their front doorstep, but her hand closes around one skinny wrist with a grip that's vicelike.
"Hi there." She smiles, all teeth and baby blue eyes, one hand closed around cold metal in her coat pocket. A casual flick of her head clears a stray curl from her brow. "Got a sec?"

"don’t breathe, don’t move, it’s too loud, you are too loud" (*throws disoriented cassie @ lonnie*)
Reality vs. Fantasy Starters II Accepting
Lonnie scowled, but they did drop their voice to a respectful whisper. "Cassie, look at me; I need to see your eyes. And if you can handle touch, I'm also going to need you to put your hand on my chest, so that you can feel when I'm taking proper deep breaths-- and then you must do them with me. Alright? We only need start with those two things. The breaths are calming, and your eyes are going to show me whether or not you're concussed. Do you hear me?"

@bxrningblack from this
“Hey hey, it’s okay, take it easy,” Arden hummed, gently placing a hand on the girl’s shoulder, eyes wide with concern. “How you feeling? What’s going on in your world?” Laster’s Repair and Rentals had a tendency to house some of the more interesting folk from Gotham, including Arden and Helen Laster herself. In fact, it was Helen who found Cassie on the storefront when closing the store. Having gotten Cassie to the shop’s couch, she had propped her head up with a pillow and tucked her in with a quilt.
Dressed in her supersuit, she pressed the black mask around her eyes. “I promise you’re in good hands here.”

"When I say I’m meditating, I’m just trying to figure out what the fork is happening."
The good place || Accepting
Kon totally understood Cassie. He was wondering what was going on too. He watched as the boys from Cassie's school were trying to light their aerosol deodorant on fire with a lighter. He wondered if he should stop them or if he should standby and watch natural selection happen in real time in front of him. "Why are they so bad at this. This feels like it should be easy to do?" Kon was so confused. They were struggling with lighting and spraying at the same time. "I feel like I would be able to do this and Cassie I'm not very smart I'm concerned for these guys."

@bxrningblack was followed into Pauli's Diner...
"This might be a diner but that doesn't mean it's okay for you all to come in screeching like that. Get the hell out." Khare snapped, eyes sharp as daggers as she glared at the group of girls who'd come storming into Pauli's Diner. Maybe it wasn't the most professional moment of her career but the way they'd slammed open the door like they owned the place, shrieking and giggling while slinging insults at the girl who'd arrived moments before they did, it didn't take a genius to see these girls were trouble. Bad enough to have to work a double-shift in the run up to Easter without a gaggle of high school bullies causing everybody headaches, much less when a bunch of tiny eyes wriggled and writhed beneath her uniform. "Out. I'm not saying it again." There was a moment of silence before the blessed words "C'mon..." came from one of the girls, the group turning to leave with her amongst hisses of bitch and freak as the chime of the bell signalled their departure. Khare quickly turned to the last girl before she left too. "Not you, sweety. You can stay as long as you need to. Cassie, right? C'mon, I'll get you a shake."

"How do you bare it? Losing everyone over and over. Having places you've been forget you were ever there?"
@bxrningblack has been going through it
"Oh, sweetie." The truth is? She isn't sure. That answer won't help right now though, true as it feels. It won't ease away Cassie's tears or stop the place from shaking with her loss. Althea can't fix this, as much as she desperately wanted to. But she could gently pull the younger down onto the couch with her, and wrap her arms around her tight.
"You know," she started softly. "Once, I didn't." Althea lessened her grip and let Cassie sit with her back to her chest, softly running a hand through her strawberry curls. "When my daughter died, I stopped interacting with the world. I didn't see the point anymore. My world was shattered. Like it cracked when her heart stopped, and just fractured more when we put her in the ground." The fact Diana had seen it coming didn't mean anything. No prophecy would have ever prepared her to actually face the day. Nothing ever would have. It's unnatural for parents to bury their children, and there's few griefs that will rip you to your bones like it. "I withdrew into myself so much that I didn't really exist in the world for almost two decades. No medicine practice, no midwifing, no friends, no romance, no love- and, Cassie, it's not worth it. We're only human, and we need relationships. Hard as they are, or painful as they might be. They're worth it." Bittersweet- always- but worth it.
"Starting over is hard, but you're more resilient than you think. You just need to breathe." The spirals Cassie's mind would go down made her powers spiral too. And she's seen this story before. It didn't have a happy ending. Cassie deserves a better one, but who really knew if it'd be what she ended up with.
"Places don't really forget me. Not completely. There's still traces in books, in photos, in the family lines that are still here because I helped, in family stories that got passed down until they turned into a tall tale or legend."
"You're not as forgettable as you think you are. Your world feels so small because that's how your father wants it to feel. It takes away your power, it makes you feel like you have no where to run, but I promise you the world is so much bigger than you think, and no one is insignificant in it. Especially not you."

@bxrningblack continued from here
“I know the feeling.”
He chuckled back as he picked up the book and scanned the contents page to find what he wanted.
“Also not a fun read so I don’t blame you. I don’t think I’ve seen you in any of my classes.” Ignoring that he only attended three in person, his body double doing everything else. “I’m Tim.” He extended a hand and a polite smile.

Word Game // Still Accepting @bxrningblack
Now that's an interesting one. Query sat with a stumped look for a minute or two. The whole city was always in a state of teetering on the edge of chaos, but it didn't feel right as the gut word. Ultimately, her partner beat her to it. Quietly answering,
"Cassie."

Amity thoughts about your muse // Still Accepting @bxrningblack
Oh, darling, darling girl. Aren't you just aching to let it all go? Aren't you just so tired of being so well behaved? So, 'yes, father', 'yes, teacher'- all you do is comply. You could bring them to their knees. A perfect prayer to the being they really should venerate. No worrying about anyone laying a hand on you again. You could show them a real Hell to fear. And all it takes... is just a little less control. So much less work than what you must do now.
Don't you know the salvation you could be? All wings and righteous fire- and don't you know how much this city needs cleansing? Isn't that what you've repeated all along? You could do it right. Better than him.
And she could help. If only you'd just take a hand...

I see?
Send me “I see” and I’ll tell you how my character perceives yours
"That poor girl..." Kirk mutters. He knows it's an ugly emotion but he feels pity as he thinks back to Blackfire's daughter, cutting a lone figure on school grounds. Even without children of his own to worry about, it's hard to ignore the goings on there. He should know, he passes Gotham Academy most days of the week since the building is situated between home and his laboratory deeper in the city, heading there right as the children head home for the day. He's never spoken to the girl. It's not his place, but on several afternoons he's seen her, seen the way she's treated by her peers. Children are cruel to those they perceive as different and nothing is more obvious than outward appearances. Whereas the other girls wear flashy clothes, knee deep in the latest fashions and trends, she stands out with her conservatively modest clothing, a flash of grey amongst the rainbows. They notice it too and always crowd her out, when they're not sneering openly or throwing cruel jibes her way. Kirk always counted himself lucky to have such a loving family who allowed their children to grow up and become whoever they wanted to be. He's not familiar with Deacon Blackfire and his group but they keep to themselves, as many religious groups tend to. It appeared the daughter would be no different, forever an outsider to those who weren't her own. A pity, really. She seemed like a sweet young woman.
He'd been tempted to attack her once, one late afternoon when it started getting dark early. The girl seemed an easy target, rarely keeping company with others of her colony like the rest. Diving down and latching his fangs into her tender throat would have been the simplest of tasks but something about her stayed his bloodlust, similar to how the air would feel right before a thunderstorm. It made his fur stand on end, no longer seeming like such a tempting target when that storm always seemed to follow her wherever she went.
#bxrningblack#memes ;; how my character perceives yours#Hopefully this was okay!#I was a bit stuck for an answer as I wasn't sure if these two had interacted before#I think Kirk would like Cassie though#He'd definitely feel bad for her because he too went to school and had a hard time#Nowhere near as tough as she seems to have it though#Man-Bat probably spotted her after school during the winter#Easy to stay hidden when it's getting dark and foggy#Animals pick up on disasters more readily than humans tho#I don't want to assume/godmod though so just let me know if anything was too much :x
