I finished reading 'Believe' by Leighanne over the last week or so and it's so well written and structured to the point you get a full picture of how her life as a black women has affected her emotionally, mentally and physically. I really enjoyed learning more about her compared to what I already knew. I knew she has experienced racism and discrimination but reading about more deeper things that she has never shared did open my heart and has grown my knowledge on racism, colourism, discrimination and just fighting for equal rights and opportunities as a black women in England really is.
I think everyone should read this book. It doesn't matter if you know who she is, if you listen to any of her music (Little Mix or solo), what gender, race, ethnicity or sexuality you are, you should all go and read her memoir, or listen to the audiobook, or both!!
There is always space to learn more about racism, colourism and discrmnitation towards people of colour that occurs around the world.

You had been dating satoru almost 1year,it was surprising since its your first relationship and satoru used to be a player before meeting you. You heard rumours about him dating girls and leaving them in one week. When you started to date him you find out it wasn't satoru who played with every girl's heart. It was them who dated satoru. Having sex with him and making him buy things for them and after a weak they left gojo like as always. But here you are. You didn't had sex with satoru yet your in love with him almost a year. You weren't ready for sex this soon in your relationship and satoru completely respected your boundaries. Cuddling and kissing was the only intimacy you shared with him. Oh..how you love him. How could anyone just use him as a tool and left him like as always.
-
*how you met satoru*
Satoru was tired of this. No one really took relationships with him serious,he doesn't wants to end up as a player who only dates for sex or anything like that. But he started to look like one. Until he saw that new girl in the college, always buried in the books. Sometimes he caughts you staring at him but whenever he notices you look away. You kinda caught his interest.
-
"don't worry! At least iam not going to the party alone,i am going with you.. right?"
You were following your friend like a puppy, while requesting your friend to take you to the one of those frat parties. with her,she was repeatingly brushing you off. Even satoru noticed it. In the locker room he heard you talking with your friend.
"c,mon i won't cause any trouble.."
Your friend was done with this so much. She finally snapped.
"you won't cause trouble but i don't want to be seen with a cringe ass like you in the party. Your always wearing those short skirts know your thick ass thighs are exposed. You know what? You'll ruin the whole party if i take you there with me" and she left the locker room with that. You also left after few moments later, with puffy eyes. Yeah satoru saw you crying. He felt bad thay he couldn't do anything that day. You stopped wearing your mini skirts,it was better than being insecure.
đŞźâ.ŕłŕż*:シ
In the library as always you were buried in your book. You were enjoying your peaceful silence until it broke.
"hey"
You looked around, your eyes locking with the blue sapphire ones. You stared at him before shaking your head, snapping out of your daze as you give him an nervous smile. You have heard about him being on of the popular boys and rumours about him being a player or anything like that. You really didn't cared about it since it wasn't something you should worry about.
"oh..hey." you mumble softly, pushing your glasses up your nose. He smiled back as he took s seat beside you. "I've seen your around the college do many times so...i thought approaching you wouldn't be bad..." He said with his signature grin, he's eyes looked at your book "what are you reading"
"oh..its about a girl having a boring life before she fell in love with a pretty wizard." You perked up like a puppy since someone was interested in what you were reading. Satoru chuckled "can i take a look whats in it.." he said and you happily gave him the book. He started to read a little by little, flipping the pages
"can i borrow this book... I'll give you back in a week" he said and you were a little surprised..a guy like him reading a book..well yoi said yes anyway
"its fine.. just make sure to give it back" you give him a soft smile. His heart almost melted at that. Little did you knew he borrowed the book so he could talk to you again.
Everything started from there, he'd take you to parties with him. Introduced you to his friends, geto and shoko. You were much happier after meeting him. So when he asked you to go on a date with him,you couldn't say no. And you didn't regret that. He took you to multiple fancy places and shopping, riding on his black bike while hugging him from behind bought you so much joy. It didn't take too long for him to end up kissing you softly on your birthday.
Your 1year Anniversary with satoru is near. Only 3days and your relationship Will turn one year. you have to get a gift for him since you already caught him planning on showering you with gifts. You lay down on your bed, rolling to here and there. You sigh. You had some money you saved before dating satoru but then totally forgot about them. Today you remembered about it and decided you'll give satoru a gift or surprise with it. You sigh and pout slightly. You end up wasting two days thinking what you can get satoru on the anniversary and then finally today you find out something. A lingerie. A baby blue lacy flower lingerie. yes you were too shy to have sex with him but not uncomfortable anymore. You were shy about how he looked bare. You have only seen him shirtless before and it was enough to make your legs feel jelly. so imagine him fully bare got you kicking your legs in the air. You told him that you got a surprise for him. He softly chuckled and waited for it. You told him to visit you at night on the day on your anniversary. As the day came,at night he visited you. He placed all the gifts he bought for you on the table near. Already walking off to your room with the bouquet of roses. You told him to not bring any cake since you planned on making it at home. You heard him knock on your rooms door. "Its open" your sweet voice yelled from inside and he opened it,
"so what does my sweetheart got to show me-" he said teasingly before his jaw dropped. Looking at the sight Infront of him. You were wearing that lingerie. Beside you a cutely decorated cake placed. Sitting on the bed as if a delicious meal that was ready to get devoured. His mouth almost watered. You blushed seeing him staring at you that long "toru?.." you mumble softly. He finally shakes he's head before smirking softly "your full of surprises. Aren't you princess?" He chuckled before entering your room, kicking the door shut behind him as he made his way to you. Sitting on the bed beside, his long fingers lifted up your chin gently "your so pretty baby" he said.."but you were uncomfortable back then" he cupped your face, his forehead resting on yours "you sure you want to do this? If you're comfortable i am more than happy to further our relationship." He smiled softly. You completely melted against him
"toru first of all i am not uncomfortable and i want to further our relationship." You kissed his cheek softly, hugging him. He smiled kissing your forehead,he gently laid you down on the bed,his fingers dancing on your exposed arms as he started to kiss you, his tongue gently pushing into your mouth, playing with it. You softly moan into the kiss, wrapping your arms around his neck.
"hold on tight princess, iam about to rock your world" he growled playfully after pulling away. Satoru made quick work of his clothes, yanking his shirt over his head and shoving his pants down his hips to free his throbbing erection. He crawled over her prone form, the heat of his gaze roving hungrily over her curves as he settled between her parted thighs. Ripping your cute panties off as he spits on your beautiful cunt. You whined shyly,
"i can buy 100 of these later baby," he said as he gives your cute pusssy a long lick, moaning at the taste. "Already so wet for me..hehe" he giggled sheepishly as his long fingers plays softly with your clit, teasing your little hole, you moaned at that "toru- ahh..hahh" you whined with that, satoru gives your pinkish pussy another lick before thrusting his two fingers knuckle-deep into your welcoming heat, groaning at the way your walls clenched around the digits. He pumped them slowly, relishing each breathy moan and needy whimper that fell from your lips as he worked her closer to the edge.
Gojo's eyes rolled back in bliss at the erotic sounds spilling from your lips, your desperate moans and whimpers driving him wild with lust. His mouth watered in the way you writhed beneath him, grinding your dripping sex wantonly against his fingers as he thrust them deeper, harder, stoking the flames of your pleasure "nghh 'toruuu...i am gonna-"
"use your words baby" he sucks your clit, your back arched in pleasure. Screaming his name.
"That's it, baby. Sing for me," he encouraged huskily, thumb circling your swollen clit and smearing the wetness pooling between your thighs. "I want to hear you fall apart on my fingers before I split you open on my cock."
"toruuu" you whined again, your legs shaking in pleasure
"Come on, princess. Let go for me. I want to feel this greedy little pussy squeeze the life out of my fingers," he commanded roughly, curling them just right to hit that special spot deep inside
"i think i'll- ahhh"
Gojo crashed his lips to yours in a bruising kiss, swallowing your cries of ecstasy as your orgasm crashed over you like a tidal wave. continuing to stroke her quivering sex until the last aftershock subsided, leaving her boneless and panting beneath him. Only then did he withdraw his fingers, bringing them to his mouth to clean your essence from the digits with a low moan of appreciation. "Delicious," he purred, eyes dark with hunger. "But I think it's time for the main course. Are you ready for me, sweetheart?"
"toru.." you spoke panting, you tongue lulling out of your mouth slightly "you know..its my first time hahh.. be gentle...pwe- please" He gives you a nod "of course. I won't hurt my princess in a special time like this." He said, removing your lacy bra, exposing your perky breasts,he leans down and sucks on of your cute nipple. His fingers playing with the other one. After a moment he pulled away licking his lips, removing his boxers. You stared at his crotch as he frees his little monster perking up between his legs, your mouth almost watered, staring at the nine inch beautiful cock. He smirked at your dumbfounded expression
"there princess,be ready for now" he said as he starts to settle between your legs. Then rubbing his swollen tip against your silt. You whined weakly, gripping at his bicep. He gives your forehead a kiss before finally slipping into your heat, even though you're pussy only did took half of his cock. The way you moaned made his eyes roll back. He slowly thursts after letting you get adjusted to his size. It only took few minutes for you to go dumb on his dick,he pounded into you and you were screaming. Screaming in pleasure and ecstasy. Drooling on his cock. Your perky breasts bounces with each thurst he gives you
"yes yes yes scream like that princess and I'll endup cumming before you"
He grumbles softly, almost shaking at how tight your pussy is, making him drool. He smirks dumbly as he his pace becomes faster
"toruu...wan more" you slur out dumbly, squirming cutely
"yeah? Want me to break this bed while fucking you baby?" He chuckles as he leans down, kneeding your breast and sucking on another. You wrap your arms around him. Legs shaking in pleasure
"feels so g-good..hahh ngh" you whine trying to kiss him,he smirked and kisses your lips as he founds out. Biting your lips softly.
"toru I'll..hahh..." You whine again. Clinging to him for dear life
"that's it princess cum for me" his pace becomes even faster, this time hammering into your cute pussy. And with the last thrust both of your orgasms washes over you. You screamed in pleasure, legs shaking and panting satoru resting on top of you. He kisses your forehead
"you did so well for me,baby" he praises you . You give a weak kiss on the cheek. He pulls out an soft cock from inside of you. And then your body goes limp. Satoru slightly panicks. He gently swipes you into his arm, carrying you to bathroom for a nice and warm bath. When you woke up you find yourself resting against his chest in the bathtub, satoru smiles at you when you look uo at him
"you passed out after our love making"
You sigh and again melt over his bare chest, wrapping your arms around him
"who wouldn't you literally shaked my world" you mumble shyly, placing few soft kisses on his chest,he chuckles before lifting your face up with a long fingers "but you liked it" he playfully teases and you break into a giggle, booping his nose with yours.

[owlman] Mr. Harkins
owlman!Mr. Harkins x human!Reader Good to know: no smut, just a bit of a dom x sub thing, humiliation and spanking
Summary: The librarian has to punish you when you are late again.
"Miss Flores, you are late again," Mr. Harkins's stern voice welcomes you the moment you enter the library. A grimace pulls on your face as you find the male at his desk, not even looking up from the screen of the computer. The bright light follows the curve of his beak and reflects on his round glasses in front of his wide golden eyes. "I apologize, Mr. Harkins," you reply. Your voice is thin and quiet. "I didn't have timeâŚ" you start as you approach him. Your steps seem loud in the quiet room. "I don't have time for your excuses," he cuts in before you can continue your explanation. "If you can't follow the rules, you can go and buy the books instead of borrowing them." You don't even dare to reply as you grab the books from your bag and put them on the old wooden table in front of the owl. They are heavy and thick in your hands. "Did I make myself clear, Miss Flores?" Mr. Harkins asks, looking up at you from his seat. "Yes, Mr. Harkins," you nod, clearing your throat when you feel it tightening. "I will do better next time," you promise. He rolls his eyes. "I heard it before, Miss. I don't need your empty promises. I need you to bring back the books in time." "Yes, Mr. Harkins," you reply. "Now, go," he says, motioning to the long row of bookshelves behind you. "I don't want to see you." "Yes, Mr. Harkins," you repeat yourself, almost whispering.
Your friendship with the owl started well enough when you moved to the city two years ago. He was happy for the new face and welcomed you to Meriad with open wings and several suggestions about which books you should read when he heard about your preferences. He was respectful and kind. Then, your job began to be too demanding, and you started getting late with bringing back the books you borrowed. He was patient and understanding at first, but his demeanor changed for the worse every time you were late. Before you knew it, the male you thought was a new friend looked at you like you were his biggest enemy.
It was too late, though.
You were madly and deeply in love with him by the time, he started hating you.
That's why it hurts so much when you are late with his precious books. You hate to disappoint him. You want him to be kind and nice to you again, even though his anger and sternness always do things to you, no matter how much you try to deny it.
Wanting to get away from him as fast as possible, you quickly disappear behind the bookshelves. They tower over you easily, hiding you from his dark gaze and the burning of his attention on the back of your head.
You need long minutes to calm yourself down and start to focus on the books around you.Â
The familiar scent of the old building and papers fills your nostrils as you wander through the long rows. Your fingers caress over the spine of the books as you read the titles.
The orange glow of the setting sun filters into the library through the tinted windows. They illuminate the tall walls and glint on the chandeliers hanging off the painted ceiling.
The library is quiet and calm. You can hear someone moving around from time to time, but you don't pay attention to them. You focus on the books, picking one or two up every now and again to get to know more before deciding to keep it or put it back. By the time you are done, your arms hurt under their weight.
"Great," you grunt under your breath, pushing down your anxiety because of the fact that you have to face the angry owl again.
Well, if you are lucky, his co-workerâŚ
But no.
Mr. Harkins already stares at you with a scowl on his feather-covered face when you appear from behind the shelves. The golden of his eyes seems vivid and liquid in contrast with the whites and browns of his feathers. The yellowish color of his hands at the end of his wings matches with the shade of his beak. His black claws are short and blunt.
"No," he breaks the silence as you drop your collection on his table with a quiet thud.
Your brows lift in surprise. "What?"
"If you borrow so many books, you will be late again."
"I won't," you tell him, feeling like a child under his stern, scolding gaze.
"Don't lie to me, Miss Flores."
"The policy says one can't borrow more than ten books," you tell him. You shouldn't be brave enough to talk back, but him not letting you take as many books with you as you want almost feels humiliating. "It's only eight," you add, pointing at the pile between you and the angry bird.
"One last time," he grunts.
The few minutes while he takes care of the books and you put them away are silent, tense, and awkward. Shame and guilt burn your cheeks because of your argument. You are sure he has to force himself not to ban you from the library, and you are not sure what stops him.
"Thank you, Mr. Harkins," you break the silence, adjusting the straps of your bag on your shoulder as you make your way to the exit. "Have a good night."
"Miss Flores," he calls after you. "If you are late again, you will be punished."
Hearing his warning, your lips open with shock, but no words come out as the door closes behind you.
-
After you called the library for an extra two weeks and Mr. Harkins's co-worker was the one who answered the phone, you thought you were safe. Two weeks should be enough for a book that is barely longer than two hundred pages. In other circumstances, it would have been enough if not for your job. The hospital changed your shifts at the last minute, and after working long hours at night, you were too tired to read at daylight.
You should have returned the books two weeks ago.
Two weeks.
Mr. Harkins will ban you from the library; you are sure of it. You have two weeks to accept the fact that you will have to go to the other side of the city if you want to read without leaving a fortune in the bookshops.
But facing the owlman? Yeah, your stomach turns with anxiety when you think about it.
You sit at the table in your small kitchen. The books are in front of you in a pile as you stare at them accusingly as if your being in trouble is their fault.
What if you don't take them back? What is the worst that can happen? Maybe you have to pay some fine. And you can never go even near the library again, afraid you will meet Mr. Harkins. But with your luck, you will meet him somewhere else. And he will tear your head off in the middle of the street in front of everyone.
"Shit," you groan, holding your head in both of your hands as you lean onto the table with your elbows. You want to say more, but the ringing of your phone doesn't let you. The familiar sound fills the small flat.
"Yes?" You answer without looking at the screen. It's probably the hospital, anyway.
"Miss Flores?" You can feel your blood freezing in your veins at the sullen voice. "The books, Miss Flores."
"Yes," you gasp. "I will return them today."
"After the library is closed."
You frown. "What? Why?"
"Am I clear, Miss Flores?"
You gulp, fidgeting. "Yes, Mr. Harkins."
"Good," he grunts. "I will wait for you."
Okay. What is the worst that Mr. Harkins can do to you? Ban you? You already accepted the idea. Maybe he will make you clean up the library or help with the books. He can't do that, but you wouldn't be brave enough to say no if he asked.
You spend the whole day with rocks in your stomach. You try to calm yourself and be careless about it, but you can't lie to yourself. You are in trouble.
By the time the library closes, you are in front of the building, trying to gather your courage to make yourself enter.
The sun is already setting. The lights reflect on the buildings around you, gliding across the windows. The library's tinted glasses glint under the orange glow. The traffic behind you on the road is still busy and loud. The sound of honks and the rumble of engines echo off the tall walls, vibrating in the autumn breeze. You have to step and move every now and again so you are not in the way of anyone who has better things to do than stand in front of the library. You reach the entrance door like this, with quiet apologies and smiles.
When you finally enter, the library is even more silent than usual, and the desk not far from the entrance is empty.
This is your chance, you think with a sharp inhale. You put the books down, leave, and never come back.
"Miss Flores, you come." Mr. Harkins's voice mixes with the quiet thud of the books as they land on the hard surface of the desk.
Your heart stops beating for long seconds.
"Yes," you squeak out. "As you wanted, Mr. Harkins."
"See? You can be a good girl, Miss Flores if you want to."
You are sure he can hear the change in your breathing when he calls you a good girl. Anxiety and excitement rush over your body, going straight between your legs.
"I will go now," you tell him, still not having enough courage to turn and look at him. "I still have things to do andâŚ"
"Not so fast, Miss Flores," he says, stopping you before you can move even an inch. "I still have to punish you."
At his words, you turn to him. "Mr. Harkins, I-"
"Turn back," he commands, and you can't help but scowl at him. He wears his usual three-piece suit. The brown shades of the fabric match his feathers. His round glasses rest on the base of his beak.
"Turn. Back," he repeats himself. "Before I make your punishment worse."
You do as he says.
"Take off your pants." His next demand makes you freeze and burn at the same time. Your cheeks heat up as you feel his waiting gaze on your back.
"Mr. Harkins-"
"Do I have to tell you everything twice, Miss Flores?"
"No, Mr. Harkins," you reply, unbuttoning your jeans to push them down to your knees.
"All the way," he says. "I want you to spread your legs."
Fuck.
Even though you feel humiliated, your pussy thinks otherwise. You are already wet and aching.
"What if someone sees?" You ask quietly.
"It's just us, little girl," he says. "You don't have to worry."
You nod, keeping your mouth shut. His gaze is heavy on the curve of your bottom even though you still wear your panties. You are curious if he can see the wet patch on the fabric or if you are not that soaked yet.
"Now bend over and spread your legs." He is getting closer.
Pushing away the books from the way, you follow his command once again. You want to know what happens next.
"Good girl," he hums, and your pussy throbs at his praise. Yeah, you want to be his good girl. You imagined the librarian so many times but never quite like this.
"Push out your ass," he says from above you. Your insides twitch at his closeness.
Fuck.
His hand lands on the small of your back. His touch is warm and slow as his hold slips down to your bottom. He grabs the flesh there, squeezing and groping you. His claws still feel sharp even though you know they are blunt.
"I will spank you," the owlman states.
His fingers slip under the waist of your panties, pulling down the fabric until it stretches around your knees. The library's air feels cold on your heated skin.
"How many days ago you should have brought back the books?" Mr. Harkins asks.
"Fourteen days ago," you squeak out. Your cheek is pressed against the wooden surface of the desk. Your hands are next to your head in small fists.
"Uh-uh," he disagrees. "Before that, you asked for two more weeks."
You gasp and almost stand up, but the owlman's other hand stops you from doing that. "That's too much," you tell him.
"It is," he agrees with a sigh. He sounds amused. "Let's stay at fourteen, but you have to count them loudly, and I will add one more every time I don't hear you."
"Yes, sir," you reply.
His chuckle is satisfied as he smooths down on your ass cheeks, warming up the skin for what happens next.
"Good girl," he says. "Now, count."
The first slap comes suddenly and powerfully. Your whole body jerks and jumps at the pain that strikes through your skin.
"One," you cry out.
Another slap. "Two."
Three more. "Three, four, five."
Your bottom burns under his assault. Your flesh jiggles after every loud smack that echoes off the walls.
"You don't know how many times I imagined you like this," he says.
"Six."
"Every time you were late, I wanted to bend you over the desk or my knees and spank that sweet ass of yours until they were red and ripe under my hand."
"Seven."
"At first, when you started coming here, I thought we could be friends, you know? He asks without wanting an answer.
"Eight."
"I thought you were a nice girl who respects the library's and my rules, but no."
"Nine." At this point, your ass is on fire.
"You had to be late every damn time."
"I'm sorry," you cry and gasp. "It wasn't my-"
Smack. Smack.
"Mr. Harkins!"
"You didn't count, bad girl. Add two more."
"No, wait!"
Smack. Smack. Smack.
"Ten. Eleven. Twelve."
Your face is wet from your tears, and your pussy pulses with need. Sobs shake your body as you cry. You hate to disappoint him. Guilt and pain eat you while he still keeps you down on the table. Smack. Smack. You count loudly and hoarsely.
"Two more, sweet girl," he says, caressing the redness of your skin. He is more gentle now, giving you a few seconds to take deep breaths and calm yourself down.
"Two more," he repeats, "and we will be done. Your punishment will be over, and you will be forgiven, alright?
"Yes, sir," you nod, still sobbing.
"Good girl."
Smack.
"Fifteen," you count.
"And one last."
"Sixteen," you gasp, relieved.
"Good girl," he praises you, caressing your burning skin. "I know you can be a good girl if you want to. I'm proud of you."
Every praising word and touch lifts something off your chest that lets you breathe again. The tears stop but your pussy still throbs and aches. The pain Mr. Harkins inflicted on you was nowhere near enough to lessen your desire for the owl.
"You want something else, aren't you?" He asks, amused again. "Your pretty cunt is sopping wet."
His hand glides down to your center. The tip of his finger is rough against the slit of your cunt.
"Mr. H-Harkins," you gasp, pushing yourself against him. "Please."
"Uh-uh," he hums, shaking his head even though you can't see him. His wide eyes shine with hunger and satisfaction. You are wet and slick under his touch. The scent of your arousal is thick and heavy in the air.
"I can't reward you after your punishment, can I?" He chuckles, still playing with your wet folds. The tip of his finger finds your clit every now and again but never stays there for long enough to make you feel good.
"Please," you breathe out, pressing your forehead against the desk. It's cold under your heated, slightly sweaty skin.
"How about this," he says, still exploring your pussy as he talks. "I let you choose three books now, and if you bring them back in time, I will give you a reward you want."
"Okay, sir," you answer. You know you can do nothing but agree.
"Good girl," he hums, leaving your pussy to lean down and take off your panties.
"Mr. Harkins?" You gasp sharply.
"I will keep them," he smirks. "Now go and choose three books, Miss Flores."
Your legs shake as you get up from the desk and make a few tentative steps to the shelves. The skin of your inner thighs is wet and uncomfortable.
Stopping in your tracks, you look back at the male over your shoulder. He is leaning against his desk with his wings over his chest. His golden eyes are sharp and satisfied as he looks over your half-naked body.
"Go on, little girl."
You feel humiliated and excited at the same time again as you wander between the shelves. His eyes are on you the whole time.Â
You are not sure where this all will lead you with Mr. Harkins, but you know for a fact that you will return the books in time.

James Potter*Misunderstandings
Pairing: James Potter x f!reader
Word count: 1661
Can be read as a part two to heroic deed here
Warnings: none
Masterlist here
Being shy and friends with James Potter was already a struggle since he was anything but however you had a new issue now; youâd fallen heads over heels for him. you didnât need a man to save you but ever since James defended you from those bullies it was hard not to like him.
Before when you walked through corridors you would get constantly shoulder checked and shoved but James had no issues shoving back and soon you found yourself being able to walk the halls without almost getting tackled.
James had also introduced you to the marauders who thankfully werenât as intimidating as you first thought. Maybe it was because of how tall Remus was or the ladiesâ man reputation Sirius had but you didnât expect to be in a heated debate over breakfast over which magical creature would be the best at quidditch.
âYou cannot be serious mate! How would a phoenix even hold a snitch?â
âOh yeah cause a hippogriff has great dexterity!â
Remus and Sirius continued to bicker as you silently ate your breakfast. Remus was across from you next to Peter while James was sat next to you, Sirius next to him. Peter had âborrowed Remusâs homework while he was distracted, though you werenât convincing Sirius didnât start this conversation as a decoy, while James just laughed at his two idiot friends.
âYou, okay?â he whispered, snapping you from your daze.
Shit youâd been caught staring, quickly say something, you mentally cursed yourself, âYeah um just not a morning problem,â
âAlright sunshine Iâll leave you to daydream,â James laughed, your skin heating up at his words while he tried to buy into the argument.
-
You and Remus both shared your first class of the day so after the squabbling stopped you both set off to the third floor. âYou ever gonna tell him you like him?â Remus asked as if he was asking for the time.
âWhat? Like who?â you stuttered but Remus just gave you a knowing look, âHow did you know?â you sighed.
Remus snorted, a grin playing his lips, âCmon seriously? yous hang out all the time. you should just ask him out,â he shrugged and your eyes basically bulged out your skull.
âI cant do that. He doesnât like me like that-â
âHas he ever told you that?â he said making you stop in your tracks.
Remus eventually paused, staring at the confused look on your face, âDo you know something I donât know?â
Remus sighed, âI know the last girl James asked out embarrassed him in front of the whole common room, which to be fair was his fault for asking so loudly,â Remus said, cringing at the memory of James proclaiming his love for lily in front of everyone and getting told a very quick no. hell even you had heard of the story, âand now he doesnât talk about that shit anymore but if you ask me I think he does. He never shuts up about you,â Remus said, half rolling his eyes, âNo offence,â
âNone taken,â
-
All you could really think about all day was what Remus had said. James even had to ask if you were okay over dinner because how âzoned outâ you had been. âI need to return some books to the library,â you said, deciding to end your misery but James didnât get the memo.
âIâll come with. See ya,â he said, nodding to the guys and instantly getting up to follow you.
You tried your best to make small talk, but you could feel your palms getting sweatier with each word. After leaving the library you decided to finally do something about it, âHey you busy this Saturday?â you asked, trying your best not to stutter.
âEh I donât think so. No detentions yet at least,â he joked, âhow come?â
âWas just wondering if youâd wanna go to Hogsmeade with me?â you said, your cheeks instantly heating up like crazy.
The smile of James face though made your own heart skip, âYeah sure. Iâll say to the guys yeah?â and just like that it sunk instantly.
âOh yeah sure totally,â
-
To say your confidence had been knocked was an understatement and the whole walk down to Hogsmeade you were hanging at the back of the group trying not to show how much you were internally sulking. Yous went to honey dukes first, picking up a few bits and bobs all while Remus was giving you a sympathetic smile and James was none the wiser.
âHeâs just clueless you know,â Remus whispered to you at the shelves while James went up to the till, âHe probably didnât even realise you were asking him out,â
âOr maybe he just didnât wanna hurt my feelings,â you mumbled, instantly shutting up when James walked back. âWatcha get?â
âChocolate frogs, of course. got you one too here,â he said passing you the frogs while Remus gave you a âsee? told you soâ look.
-
Soon you all ended up piling into a booth at the three broom sticks. Remus and Peter were on one side while you, James, and Sirius squeezed into the other. Luckily you got to be on the side not against the wall however because of the tight squeeze you were pressed right into James side. There was nothing you couldâve done though, there wasnât an empty seat in the place.
âYouâd think for a magical pub they could make more seats,â Sirius scoffed as he crammed himself against the wall. âIts your turn for first round Peter,â he said.
Peter rolled his eyes, âDo you keep tabs or something?â
âYes,â Sirius said, and it honestly wouldnât shock you if he had it all written down in a notebook. âIâll take a butterbeer,â
When Peter asked you what you wanted you offered to go with him to help him carry it but also as an excuse to get away from James. Peter however was glad to accept the help.
-
Meanwhile Remus was slapping James across the head as you walked out of sight. âYou dumbass,â
âWhat?!â James squeaked, rubbing his head, âand ow! By the way,â
âThis was supposed to be a date,â Remus half hissed making Sirius look between the two.
âSince when did you do go out?â
âWe donât,â James rolled his eyes, âwhat are you on about? She invited us all to come here?â
Even Sirius dropped his head into his hand at this point, âThink about what she said,â Remus sighed, âDid she say âyou guysâ or âyouâ?â
James head tilted as he thought before a small âohâ came from his lips followed by a very annoyed, âfuck!â while Remus and Sirius groaned at their friends obliviousness, âWhat do I do now? Should yous leave or-â
âNo that just makes it weird,â
âThen what do I do?!â
âShut up since sheâs walking back here,â Sirius said, jabbing his elbow into his ribs, âHey guys!â he said, way louder and happier than normal making both you and Peter share a concerned look.
-
James spent the rest of the afternoon beating himself up. Heâd liked you from the first day he met you, hating that he hadnât met you sooner and now heâd gone and fucked it up. He was distracted the rest of the day and while the group was walking back to the grounds he found himself hanging back a bit.
You noticed and decided to drop back as well, âHey you okay?â you asked, genuine concern on your face making Jamesâs heart melt.
âCan I ask you something?â he said giving you an odd sense of De Ja Vu, âSee the other day did you mean that you wanted us all to go or like just us?â he said, voice trailing off when you looked away.
What he hadnât expected was to see your eyes watering when you looked back, âDonât worry about it, it was dumb and-âyou began to ramble but James stopped in his tracks, grabbing your wrist making you turn to face him. âIâm sorry,â
âNo, I am,â James said, stepping closer, âI was an asshole I didnât know,â he sighed, looking at the ground, âWhy didnât you tell me you wanted it to be just us?â
You shuffled on your feet, trying desperately not to look in his eyes, âJust didnât want you to laugh at me or something,â
James felt his heart shatter, âI wouldnât have laughed,â he said making you finally look up from the ground, âIâm sorry,â
âItâs okay,â
âItâs not,â James sighed, staring off in the distance making you squirm in anticipation, âYou busy tomorrow?â
âUm I donât think so- â
âGreat! Good great um quidditch practise ends at 2,â James said as he began to ramble, âSo Iâll come get you at half 2 and we can go back to Hogsmeade tomorrow. Just us yeah?â he said, finally looking back at you with a hopeful smile.
âLike a date?â you asked, your own lips tugging into a small smile.
James grinned at your reaction, âYeah like a real date. Without those losers,â he said making you laugh, âI wanna do it right okay?â
âOkay,â you said, âItâs a date,â
âGreat,â James said, breaking out into a cheesy smile when suddenly you both heard whooping and wolf whistles behind you, âOh fuck off,â James groaned as you began to laugh.
Sirius all but ran over, flinging his arm around Jamesâs shoulder, âFucking finally mate told you to just ask her,â
âYou donât get the credit for this!â Remus butted in, totally offended by Siriusâs comment, âI made this happen!â
âNu uh,â
âYu uh,â
As the two began to bicker you suddenly felt James take your hand. You looked at him, eyes wide but he just gave you a small smile as he tugged on your hand, leading you away from his nutcase friends. âWalk me back to my dorm?â you asked.
James grinned down at you, âAlways,â

[DAY 10] masterlist ᥣđŠ !
â " being unable to keep his eyes off of you " ; library
âĄlist : @lecheugo , @imthisclosetokms , @rizzkisworld , @hyvelxve , @starryriize
As soon as the bell rings sungchan is out the door, waving his friends goodbye as he makes his way to the local library that was only a block away from his current location. There, he was going to return his book that he had borrowed from the kind librarian, before making his way to the rows and rows of long shelves, pondering to himself what he was going to read next.
If he was actually going to read it.
Sungchans been coming to the library for a week straight now, not to find nice literature that could wash away his boredom, no, it was to catch a glimpse at you. You were the pretty girl that came here everyday to study your past works and prepare for future tests. And to say the very least, sungchan was mesmerized.
He loved watching your eyes light up when you finally understood your topic, or when a pout formed onto your lips whenever you got a question wrong. You had him at a chokehold although you didnt know him, the boy willingly dropping his friends and sports just to be in the same room as you. He was more than mesmerized.
But he also was a little shy.
Okay, really shy.
The poor boy couldnt even admire you for long when you suddenly turn your head, his head moving in sync as it becomes a bright shade of red, finding a random book to distract him. Thats why hes been buying books everyday, so it didnt seem obvious he was staring at you.
But he couldnt help it. Not when you looked so, so pretty, blue light blockers sitting on the bridge of your nose perfectly as he mindlessly swoons more and more after every minute, every second. He hadn't told any of his friends what hes been up to, and he'd prefer to keep it that way, incase one of them decides to slip up infront of you.
Sometimes he loves them, other times he despises them.
Sungchan watches as you let out a long yawn, your head covering your open mouth before you take off your glasses and turn off your computer, resting your head on top of your arms which laid on the table. Were you tired? Usually, you keep a cup of coffee with you so you could power through the evening, but it seemed as if you've forgot it. Sungchan could of brought you a cup, and maybe then would he finally grow the balls to talk to you.
His steps are quiet, light as a feather as he inches toward your seemingly sleeping body, checking to see if you've really travel off to dream land. And it looks like.. you did. Sungchan quietly coos at your sleeping figure, swiftly removing his jacket to rest on your back for warmth. He was contemplating on staying with you, but in the end decides to leave since it would be weird to watch you sleep, plus hard to explain.
But although sungchan was feeling shy, he wanted to let you know that it was his jacket he had lended, and that he doesnt need it back. A smile forms onto his face as he starts to imagine how tiny you'd look in his clothes, how cute you'd look. He opts to leave you a little sticky note that was placed right beside your head, before swinging his bag on his shoulder and leaving for the day.
Hey.. i know you dont know me and i know this is kinda weird.. but i like you a lot. I think you're really pretty when you're focused on your work or when you're reading.. but im too shy to say it in front of you T_T
I'm sungchan, by the way, and you can keep the jacket, by the way. Wait, did i already say that? Anyways um i think you're really pretty and i like you a lot and i hope you've had a good nap. Whatever you're studying, you will achieve it in the future so dont give up. Bye :)

MOOT GAME: " make up a trope for your moots and their biases. doesnât need to be romantic. can be crackfic/funny/anything you want ^ă

Okay- so, first of all, thank you so much Anon, for this ask and I'm sorry I responded to late, but I had to take my time with this one.đđ.
So here it goes, (i know i said i'd do two biases, im sorry guys, i love yall too much and i get too invested the word count was killing me)
1) @edenesth
Park Seonghwa- Rivals to Lovers
Here me out, he owns an old book shop across the street, he's been there longer than you too. This was his turf, his town, his people, people who loved to read in his cozy library, with its olden print books, worn out pages, read through by generations of the same family.
All was great until one spring she shows up, with her whole pastel plus minimalistic vibes, all with the cutesy trinkets and plants, with warm lights- he noticed some books too, but they were only for show- in conclusion it was a horrid place.
A horrid place where most teens would go to after school now, no longer going to his bookshop, where they'd gossip, read novels or mangas, or even look at pretty pictured magazines (the safe kind, mind you he kept nothing nasty). What's worse was that the older folk began to go there, too! Especially because of how nice she was to them, so polite and so pretty and - ANNOYING.
He even went to 'inspect' the place, with a sour mood and an ill intention, though he was greeted with a burst of sweet aroma, one that had his stomach growling and his inner foodie, begging him to pick at least one of the many pastries or have a cup of steaming, delicious coffee. What came next was worst, her, with her gentle smile and angelic features.
"Hello! Welcome to Spring Avenue, how may we help you today?"
"You're taking my traffic."
"I'm sorry, I don't understand."
"Of course you don't."
With that he had walked out, starting a cold war, between the two. Ironically, she was a pacifist, never a fighter, but boy, did he piss her off, he knew all those buttons that would have her steaming like a hot latte.
The war had begun;
It all began when he put a " 10% off sign on Mangas, Fashion Magazines and Manhwas" that took a god chunk of her traffic.
In retaliation, she launched a "Friendship campaign, any customer that brings a friend gets a cake slice free."
Spend 2 hours reading here and leave with a borrowed book/novel of your choice."
"Buy a coffee and get a cookie free."
This continued throughout the season, so did their rivalry, to an extent that led their divided customers sense the tension. And like usual, highschoolers are escapists and this little feud of Seonghwa and her's was a problem they'd like to avoid, from her cafe they could see their beloved bookshop owner Seonghwa scowl at them, and if they were leaving the bookshop, the kids could feel the uneasiness in her smile that she give them once they'd pass her by.
"Congratulations, you're in loss." She sighed, closing the file, earning a scowl from the cafe owner, "Hey, I'm just here to check your bills, loss, and profit stuff, don't shoot the messenger."
"Alexia, come on." She whined, this was her dream, she'd put in her life's savings for this, "What should I do, Lexi?"
"Gosh, maybe not give out stupid discounts four times in a month?" Alexia sighed, rubbing her face, leaning back to stare at the bookshop across the street, "San said he knows the owner, maybe you guys could do a collab, instead of trying to each other's traffic."
"Who's San?" She asked her best friend, slash account manager and Public Relations officer- wait, was she dating!?
"Oh- uh- hey would you look at the time?" Alexia got up, grabbing her disposable coffee cup and bag, "Tell you what, you ask the bookshop owner dude about this? Okay? I'll get back with the details on Monday!" She called out as she walked towards the door, ignoring the cafe owner's questions about this San, "BYE LOVE YOU!"
That's how she found herself standing Infront of his bookshop that evening, still debating if she should go in or not? Was this idea even worth it, the guy was rude, annoying, stupid, incredibly handsome and sweet with kids and- the hell.
"Can I help you?" His deep voice came out of no where
She almost jumped out of her skin, only to turn around and spot the man she had been hating for the past ten months, standing there in all his angleic glory, with that ugly sweater and that overly comfortable scarf, not to mention his hair, his undercut had grown, quiet well too, perhaps he really was blessed with good genes.
"I uh..." she trailed off, pouting to herself, thinking of how he'd react, maybe he would make fun of her, or insult her or even go as far as to tell the town about her poor business management skills.
"Are you still open?" his question had caught her off guard, staring at him quietly wanting to see if this was a trick, only it wasn't, for when she nodded, he had looked around and then asked if he could...get a cup of coffee from there.
Of course she had said yes, why on earth would she say no to a customer, she needed the business. Unfortunately, that one cup of coffee, turned into two, then three, well- not as unfortunate as she would like it to be.
The two, mind you, who still didnt like each other, began to learn a lot about each other. He learnt how she was genuinely a sweet, caring and gentle person, her persona was indeed not fake but very real, this is who she was. She on the other hand, learned that he had inherited this business from his family, and he was an avid reader- sort a geek, a cute geek, a cute geek that could eat a whole chocolate cake with three mugs off coffee like it was nothing.
It wasn't until the third week of him visiting her cafe, that when he had stepped out to go there, he had bumped into her. She had almost fallen, but he was quick, gripping her wrist and pulling her into his chest, only to laugh when she mumbled an excuse, though he was glad she couldn't hear how his heart was hammering against his chest, wanting to stuff itself in the breast pocket of her coat.
That day she had asked him if she could check out his book shop, because she had been looking for old English bakery recipes and she couldn't find it anywhere, not any store around or online. Of course he had taken her to the right isle, in the right section in no time, this bookshop was his life and collecting and sifting through books was his passion, that day he had seen her passion, she had sat there, on the floor the entire night, reading book after book, mumbling to herself as she noted down recipes. He had sat next to her, helping her jot down notes, bringing her coffee- well not as good as hers, but good enough. At one point he had even ordered them a late night snack, well snacks, because he's a growing boy. He had closed the shop with the two inside, even pulled out a blanket and some cushions from the lounging area so she could comfortably work- she was a passionate girl and ironically he had realised something that night, only it turned into a full blown epiphany in the morning.
Next morning she had woken up right next to him, her head on his shoulder, his arm wrapped around her as the blanket was draped over the two, they had fallen asleep while reading- oh my, he really was pretty up close.
Though the two pretended nothing had happened, nothing had changed, however, everyone around them had noticed, the highschoolers would giggle when he'd come to her cafe for a cup of coffee, or how the older folk would pat him on the back when she'd step into the bookshop calling him out for help, with her little, "Hwa?"
Neither really knew how it happened, but one night while closing up he had waited outside for her, telling her he'd drop her home, even though she lived close by. Slowly this had become part of their routine, he'd often talk about the latest manga or an issue to the Star Wars comics or whatever on earth he'd talk about, but she'd always listen. Always smile and laugh at his jokes, while he'd readily accept any test recipes she'd try, telling her that his stomach was like a blackhole.
But when do the two get together? Simple, on New Years Eve, when he had to close his shop but she had decided to leave her cafe open, wanting to cater to all those who were celebrating the arrival of the new year with their loved ones, she knew Seonghwa had to go home anyway and she didn't want to spend the night alone since her family was out of town. What she did not expect was a few minutes before the strike of midnight, the cafe door chimed open as she turned to greet the customer, only to freeze at the sight before her- Seonghwa entering with a bouqet of origami flowers, smiling at her as he slowly walked to her;
"I- I know you don't like plucking flowers or bouqets, so I made you these."
"You...made these?"
"Ofcourse."
"W-why?"
"I...because I..." but before he could finish his sentence his ears picked up the count down, causing him to quickly place the flowers on the counter and as soon as the fireworks rang in her ears, it was as if she could feel the burning warmth in her body, taking a second to process how his lips were on hers, his hands cupping her face as her hands instinctively went up to grip his coat, pulling him even closer. Who knew that one day she'll end up opening a cafe that also served as a bookstore, who knew that one day, her little, evil, handsome rival bookseller, would be the New Year's kiss she never knew she needed, the man she never knew she needed, the lover that she was blessed to have.

Jeong Yunho- Neighbors to Lovers
No, she was not the new tenant, he was, and for some ungodly reason he was also extremely ill-prepared to live alone. Like any other weekend, she was leaving her apartment to go to the cafe to sit in peace and finish her novel, but God had other plans. She had opened the door to come face to face with a tall, good-looking man, though the smile he wore scared her- he was one of those extroverts.
No, he was not mean at all, nor was he the manipulative kind, Jeong Yunho really didn't know how the pre-installed dishwasher worked, that's why he had come to her that fateful weekend, about to knock on the door but she had beat him to it, opening the door before he could, earning a sheepish smile in return- who knew his neighbour would be so gorgeous, who knew purple could look so good on someone?
"Hey, I- I moved in across the hall, apartment 19, lol, I guess we're neighbours, huh?"
She had only nodded meekly at his question, pulling her satchel closer to her person, not because she didn't like him, no, but because she wasn't much of a talker anymore, not so confident either and also- because regardless of how good looking this stranger was, he was still a stranger.
"I'm Yunho- Sorry to bother you, I know you must be going somewhere, but I- I uh- I wanted to know if you know how to operate the dishwasher?"
That's how she found herself in his apartment, leaving the maindoor wide open, so she could escape if something were to happen, but to her surprise he was just a regular idiot, one who thought the dishwasher was a rack used to dry the dishes- men.
That night Yunho met an angel, one who seemingly had her life planned out, held together well, while he was still trying to build something out of his- data analyst or not, living alone was not the easiest thing to do, yet, she seemed so nonchalant about it.
Overtime however, she noticed how he would come over to ask her for help often, sometimes it was the 'fridge isn't working right' other times it was the 'how much water do you add to rice while boiling it?' Honestly, she would've told him to piss off if it were anyone else, but it was her polite neighbour, her sweet polite, new neighbour who would pass her by in the corridor every morning, smiling at her and wishing her a good morning- even if she wasn't a morning person.
Ironically, he continued to ensure they cross paths, only because he wanted to get to know her, to talk to her, he really needed a friend, and since moving here meant Mingi and him could no longer hang out 24/7, he really needed another person to talk to, someone who was not Hongjoong from the finance department.
Ironically, she did not protest or tell him to get lost, instead she's quietly help him whenever he'd approach her, giving him a shy smile then going back to her apartment. That purple door tempting him to go back and knock on the old wood, wanting to know what Narnia like secrets she hid behind.
She let it be, truthfully, she wanted fo befriended him, but during these little adventures, she realised she had begun to neglect her book, the same book she had a deadline for, the same book she had been working on day and night, and now this puppy pops up and takes all her attention?
So what does she do? Simple, she starts to create some form of distance, leave before he'd be awake, come back home later too, also even if he did come to knock on her purple door, she wouldn't be there to answer it, so technically she wouldn't feel guilty right?
Wrong, instead God had punished her with a severe writer's block, one so bad that she had missed two of her deadlines, and according to her publisher, she was on her last chance. That's how she found herself at the very cafe where she would find solace, now on the verge of tears, staring at the laptop in pure agony, maybe this was payback for leaving him unattended and ignoring him or maybe she was never meant to be a writer.
A fresh cup of coffee was placed next to her hand, causing her to quickly pull back and look at the stranger, only her panicked eyes met a softer, more timid gaze, a gentle smile gracing her presence.
"Hey... you looked like you needed the juice." He smiled, gesturing towards the chair, as if asking for permission to sit down next to her, to which she nodded.
"I uh..." she paused. Should she even be asking him how he's been? Does she have the right to do so, or are they just neighbours- well, at this point, two strangers living across each other.
"I read your books by the way," he began, giving her a gentle smile, as he felt the way she had tensed up, honestly, initially he thought she was like that because his presence made her uncomfortable, but he soon realised it wasn't him, but she usually was this tensed all the time, this nervous and unsure, which made no sense to him because she was one of the most well functioning person he had met in the city, and he was glad to have moved in next to her, "It's great, the plotline is amazing and the details- you really captured the essence, I particularly liked the world you created, honestly, when I moved here I thought everyone wore those 'blockers' too. To not...feel stuff you know," he turned to look at her, only to catch her staring at him, a small chuckle escaping him when she cleared her throat, averting her gaze, "You were the only one who was nice enough to help me, even for the stupidest of tasks...it means a lot."
She stared at him in awe and disbelief. She had been trying to avoid him for almost a month now, couldn't he tell? Or was he just playing dumb- I mean he totally could be dumb, he didn't know a toaster comes with settings, just thought the numbers were there for the appeal.
After that the two began to "spend time together", it was strictly casual mind you, nothing personal, though he would drop by more often than usual, sometimes after work, sometimes on the weekends- to have dinner with her, he'd bring dessert, or to watch a movie with her, he'd bring the snacks- no, nothing domestic at all.
Or so they thought, because a few months in, he had come over by swinging the door open, yes he had the keys and she had his keys, only to find her standing there all dressed up.
"Where are you off to? What about movie night?"
"Oh no..." she gasped, "Yuyu, I forgot to tell you I had a date tonight." A date? Why? With whom?
"Wait, why?"
"What do you mean why?"
"Why would you go on a date when we- I mean...isn't it weird? Shouldn't you be more focused on your book, instead of this temporary romance?"
"Temporary romance?!"
"W-wait, I didn't mean it like that. It came out wrong-"
"Out."
"W-what?"
"I said get out!"
That happened a week ago, she had been avoiding him for a whole week, she had been ignoring his calls, his texts, his knocks- no he didn't barge into her apartment, it took him a great amount of time to get her to open up to him and he idiotically clowned himself. So he decided to go to the next thing, go to the official reading of her book launch.
He waited there at the back, listening to her intently, taking in each word, who knew he would ever fall in love with, her neighbour, the same girl who had helped with the dishwasher, brought him dinner at night, spent time teaching him the usual ropes of living alone- who knew the very same girl had changed the plot of the book, basing it on her life, expressing how the shy, depressed protagonist, who thought dying her hair purple would make her feel better, realised that the only thing that would make her feel better would be a companion, a tall, handsome man, with a heart of gold- it was not that she needed a man, no, she just needed a friend, and she had finally found one, the inspiration to her writer's block, the Chandler to her Monica, the- HE DIES!?Â
He gasped, appalled at the way she had ended the story, where at the end, on his deathbed the man tells his beloved how she never needed him, but he needed her to function, to live through each day- bloody hell.
He waited for them to leave when he finally approached her, somewhat upset-no, he was very upset, as she stopped cleaning up to look at him, raising a questioning brow, "What?"
"I can't believe you!"
"Funny, Jeong, I should be the one saying that."
"What!? You killed me!?"
"What?"
"I come here to declare my undying love- no I come here to tell you how much you mean to me and apologise for never asking you out but getting upset when someone actually asked you out and you KILL ME IN YOUR NOVE?"
"First of all, I accept your apology, secondly, the protagonist was DEFINITELY NOT YOU, I made him up WAY BEFORE I met you."
"Oh..." he stared at her then looked around the almost empty bookshop, maybe he should just leave-
"So...Will you ask me out properly now or...'l"
"Move in with me."
"Too fast."
"Was worth a shot." He smiled when she let out a small laugh shaking her head at his antics, "Take me to dinner, Yunho." She smiled watching him lean closer then pause, as if asking for her permission, "Can I...?" His question was answered when she gripped him by the lapels of his coat, pulling him closer to crash her lips against his, smiling when he wrapped his arms around her, pulling back only to press his forehead against hers,
"We move into my apartment..."
"What? Mine's great-"
"Yunho, have you seen the window and the balcony on mine?"
"Your apartment it is boss."
3) @jaehunnyy
Choi San- Bestfriends to Lovers
Idiots, these two were complete idiots who were utterly in love with each other but were also too blind to realise that - why? Simple, because both feared that confessing to the other may ruin the long-held, deep bond.
A bond that had developed at the ripe age of childhood, middle school, to be more accurate. The day he had come to school, bored out of his mind, staring outside the window, wondering if he could jump on the closest tree to escape this prison. What he had not expected was an angel to come and sit beside him, well technically, the teacher had made her sit next to him, and he hadn't noticed her until she poked his shoulder lighter, causing him to jerk back and gasp, earning a few chuckles from the glass as the teacher just sighed in defeat.
"Wh-Hello."
"Do you need help with that?" She asked, pointing at the math equation in front of him. He looked at his notebook and remembered that's what they were supposed to me doing- damn that was a lot of daydreaming.
"Yeah, I guess...do you... know how to solve it?" He asked the new girl, too afraid to make eyecontact.
"Here, I'll show you." Turning to face him, she pulled his scribbled notebook closer.
"I'm San by the way."
That day onwards, a nice and quiet introvert at the back of the class finally began to crack open. From time to time, you'd hear him whispering to her, talking about some anime or a film. Often, he'd be telling her about his cat, Byeol, and how pretty she was. During break you wouldn't see San next to her for the first five minutes, no, he'd be sprinting across the campus, jumping down the stairs to go to the canteen to get her something to drink with her lunch, or a sweet snack, regardless of how many times she'd say 'it's fine.' During self study hours, she wouldn't be studying, no, she'd be busy tutoring her athletically gifted friend, he was...a little dumb, but that's okay, he was hardworking and she'd tell him she'd help him where he'd get stuck, explain and tutor where needed- especially in math.
As they grew older, he grew into his body, his self-esteem issues slowly subsiding, his feelings for her deepening, yet, never enough to tip the scale, at the bring of an edge but never enough to flow out he had to keep it all under control, because that's just how San was, patient and calm, he would never take a step if there was an ounce of the doubt when it came to how she felt about him. Though watching her spread her wings into the beauty she was, well, was somewhat problematic for him. Especially when she'd come to him, smiling like that, greeting him with the gentle voice of hers, asking him if he liked her haircut.
"What do you think?"
"It's...very nice."
"Just very nice?"
"You'd look pretty to me even if you were bald."
Conversations like these would have her heart hammering against her ribcage, and she'd pray to God that he couldn't hear it. She'd pray for it when he'd be walking home side by side, his shoulder bumping into hers, or his hand brushing against hers, when he'd take her bag from her, clicking his tongue at how heavy it would be,
"You trynna' build muscles like me?" He'd ask, though he was still very fragile, he'd only started going to the gym when he noticed how the 'basketball team captain', had decided to ask her to 'help tutor him too', though she had politely declined.
"Hmm? Of course not, Advanced Math books are just big like that..."
"Why do you do this to yourself, dove?" A nickname she had gained over the time, one used only by him.
"Because I wanna teach one day, I love teaching, I want to make sure people realise subjects aren't difficult or they aren't dumb, it's just that they're not taught properly."
Yup, he was smitten, on his knees, begging for her please ( he was also an idiot).
Ended up in college with her, though in a different major, like hell the now 'mountain of a man', no longer the kitten-like fragile boy, was going to major in math- business was a way better option.
This wasn't a bad situation, though they rarely had a few classes together, she'd still make time to see him, to text him as soon as class would end, but he'd already be standing at the exit, waiting for her with a coffee in hand and a dimpled smile, reserved just for her.
In no means was Choi San an extrovert, but somehow along the line he had met one, who later claimed that his MBTI had changed to an introvert too, though he doubted that notion- Jung Wooyoung.
Boistorous, noisy, obnoxious but a genuinely nice person at heart, Wooyoung was his companion in his major's classes, he was also the first person to know about San's little secret, since San trusted him enough to know, though Wooyoung assured him he had figured it out as soon as San introduced him to her as his "bestfriend".
"You're an idiot." Wooyoung snorted, taking off his shoes as he walked into the 4th years tiny apartment.
"What? Why?"
"You really think I didn't know?"
"How did you kno-'
"You can be bestfriends with a girl since childhood, unless a) one of you confessed to the other and got friendzoned but still chose friendship or b) neither of you confessed but are secretly crushing over the other."
"Wow, should've been a psychologist instead of a business major."
"What can I say, Sannie? I am a man of many talents."
Things progressed like this for a long time, Wooyoung watched from the sidelines how the two would basically act like a couple that was not a couple- almost everyone at campus thought they were a couple and Wooyoung was basically the third wheel. Not that he minded, and San appreciated him for that, he was glad Wooyoung's relationship with his dove was platonic- borderline sibling-like.
But Choi San was a fool, one that Choi San, at the fresh age of 25 wished that perhaps he'd be able to take the next steps, but something at the back of his mind held him back, were his personal desires as important as this friendship?
Which is why he stood there watching his best friend get ready for her date, her date with Wooyoung. After a conversation he did not like, but what could he say? He was too afraid to even confess, and well, Wooyoung wasn't a bad guy, and technically, he was his friend.
"I'm gonna ask her out, Sannie." The brunnet sighed, before taking a sip of his coffee, humming at the bitterness, perhaps this bitterness was sweeter than the bitter taste that had developed in San's mouth at the statement.
"W-why?" The bigger man with the fragile heart whispered.
"Because...I like her...I'm sorry but...I gave you time, so much of it and...I just wanted you to be the first one to know...if she says no, we'll all still be friends, but if she says yes...San, I won't hold back."
That had led to her first anniversary with Wooyoung, then the second and finally a day before their third anniversary San had texted the couple how he wouldn't be able to make it to their anniversary party because he had work that day and he wished them the best.
What he did not expect was someone knocking on his door at 2 am, opening the door to find a tear stained Wooyoung, only for him to punch the taller man in the face, watching him stumble backwards then wipe his eyes and sigh, "I swear- if you weren't such a great guy, I would've stabbed you."
"What the F*CK WOOYOUNG?"
That night was the first time he had seen Wooyoung cry, cry about how when she read the message she had become a mess, one that even Wooyoung couldn't fix, begging him for forgiveness how she made a mistake, how even though she was happy with Wooyoung, her heart belonged to someone else, someone who she thought she could move on from since he never confessed, since he never liked her back the way she did, and though the text was a confirmation of that, she couldn't bear lying to Wooyoung, to give him only half the love of what he deserved, knowing he deserved someone who would teach him the true meaning of love, because she was a teacher with only one student in mind, the idiot of a man- Choi San.
That night San couldn't sleep, not a wink, he processed the words over and over again, so did she like him? Should he confess to her? Now? Wouldn't that make it awkward? Or should he wait? Would that be a mistake?
Though his questions were answered in the morning when the doorbell rang at 7 am, making the sleepy man sigh as he stumbled to the door with blurry eyes, opening it still half asleep, only the slap he received woke sobered him up quickly,
"OW- WH- WHY ARE YOU JUST LIKE WOOYOUNG!?"
"SHUT UP! DONT TAKE HIS NAME! I HURT HIM BECAUSE OF YOU!" Never in the many years of knowing her, had she raised her voice like that.
"I-"
"NO! LISTEN TO ME!" She yelled before shoving him inside so she could continue yelling inside, "I like you- and you- you d*ck you could tell him you liked me but you couldn't tell me!? All those horrible dates you watched me go to, but you couldn't stop me?! You knew you liked me yet you let Woo ask me out!?"
"I- I didn't wanna ruin what we had..."
"San, I- what if I had married Woo? Huh? Then what? When you already had half my heart, I-"
She couldn't finish her sentence though, because the next thing she knew, he was smothering her with all that pent up love, his lips pressing against hers with a ferocity she had ever seen in her gentle Sannie, wanting to claim what he was too scared to touch before.
He only pulled back when she lightly pushed him back, gasping for air, looking up at him all flushed and pink, her swollen lips just enticing him even more,
"W-what was that?" She breathed out.
"Never say you're marrying anyone but me, I would've ruined the wedding even if it meant being thrown out."
"You're an idiot Sannie."
"No, I just had a teacher who could teach me math, but couldn't teach me how to love properly - guess she was learning too."

Kia ora! Just a wee re-introduction
I'm just another solarpunk in Aotearoa looking for other like-minded friends, inspiration, and advice on other ways I can green up my life. I love sewing, baking, making, gardening, and animals.
I live in an off-grid tiny home I built with my partner in 2016 out of wood and second-hand windows/doors/appliances. We run off solar power, rain water, a composting toilet, and try to repair, mend, make, borrow, and buy 2nd hand or local. Our meat is all hunted, which here in Aotearoa is a huge help for our environment as our only native mammals are seals and bats. Everything else is a pest. We also grow a lot of our own fruit and veggies, but the garden is still a work in progress. This year, i have a new wing of the veggie garden built, but I still have so much work to do around the herb and fairy garden.
I'm looking at irrigating the garden and automating the process. I saw something about https://www.home-assistant.io/ online but would love any advice you might have. I'd like to automate and chart my watering as well as integrate moisture monitors and a weather monitoring system.
I have an electric bike and an old 1996 honda crv. I'd like to switch to an electric vehicle, something like a Pickman 4x4 or another small farm vehicle, as I only need to get to the village bus stop, neighbouring farms, and the occasional trip into town via back roads.
Clothes are me-made with 2nd hand materials, mostly from the dump shop. I've helped start a collection point for alternative recycling like bottle lids and tetrapaks, a library of things, and a community workshop. We are working towards a bike repair hub and time bank but it might be a couple years before they are operational.
Please share all your inspiration, book recommendations, and thoughts around other ways I can make an impact in my community đ

You cannot claim you want books to be more accessible to people and then get mad about the Internet Archive accepting book donations that people have fully bought and paid for and lending those donated books out to people completely for free with no hoops to jump through.
I don't know who needs to hear this but not everyone has access to public libraries.
Assuming you even have a library in your town, not everyone can physically get to them! The poorer and more disabled you are, the less likely you are to even own a car, let alone be able to drive it!
And in most US cities, walking from point A to B is either literally physically impossible or illegal, or so literally life-threateningly dangerous that you're better off not risking it!
And assuming you can get to the library -- guess what! There's no guarentee you can actually get a library card! Yes, despite how everyone always sings endless praises, libraries aren't perfect, and there are still very real obstacles between some of the most vulnerable people and being able to borrow from a library!
In many places, you can't get a library card unless you have a driver's liscence / state ID. And in some places, even that alone isn't enough -- you also have to provide proof that you live in the city!
Which means homeless people who've had their IDs literally stolen by the cops, who don't have a mailing address they can use as proof they live in the same city as the library can't get a library card unless they can somehow get to the DMV and miraculously have the money pay for a new ID. Which they can't do without other forms of ID. Which the cops probably also literally stole.
Even if you're not homeless, if someone steals your wallet, and you can't drive, you can't get a library card either now, because you have no ID, and no way to get a new one!
The Internet Archive's lending library is actually free and accessible to everyone who can connect to the internet, with no hoops to jump through. You just have to make an account and you can start reading.
Stop claiming you want people to be able to read books if you don't actually want the most vulnerable people to actually be able to read books. Which have already been paid for and helped the authors.
If you don't even understand the bare minimum basics of how the Internet Archive's lending library works, maybe don't go around proclaiming yourself the expert. And if you literally do not live in the USA, don't go around claiming our libraries are freely accessible to everyone when they're literally not!
The Internet Archive does not hurt authors. It does not hurt publishers. If you understand how it's perfectly fucking fine to buy a book and then lend it to your friends so they can all read it, you understand why the Internet Archive literally accepting fully paid for donations of books which they archive for all of humanity completely for free is also literally fine.
And if you pretend there's actually some evil difference between the two, you just need to admit you've swallowed the capitalist propaganda that publishing companies, who want to turn books into the next streaming service where you never actually own anything even when you buy it, and you're spreading blatant capitalist propaganda that actual authors hate.
It is literally a fact that if people can borrow a book from a library to read it for free, they are more likely to buy it and the rest of the series than they would if they never got the chance to read it without first forking over hard earned money that could be going towards groceries, for a book it might turn out they absolutely hate every second of.
You cannot claim to support libraries and support making books accessible to everyone and then shit on the Internet Archive. Unless you're also going to claim that lending books out to friends or Little Libraries are also immoral.
You people are really blatantly drinking the capitalist "turn everything into a subscription service possible so they never own anything and have to keep giving us money" koolaid and we can tell.

how to bring less stuff into your home
don't buy if you already have something similar in function or form â for ex. i already own a pair of boots, therefore any new pair of boots, even if a different colour or a different shape, must stay in the store.
don't buy to store (unless it's on a good sale) â ex. i'm halfway through my favourite serum and already thinking of buying a new bottle, but i'll hold off until the previous one is actually empty, unless i see it in the store for much less than it usually costs. i also used to hoard notebooks and now try not to buy any more until all have been used up.
don't buy what you can reasonably rent or borrow â ex. i barely ever buy books because i can find everything i need at the library (including a ladder and a printer).
don't buy what you truly do not need â ex. did i get a rose quartz roller? yes. did i get it for a purpose? yes, to massage my sore jaw muscles. does it do what i bought it for? meh. is it nice to have? kind of. do i ever use it? not really. so was it a waste of natural resources, cheap labour and my own money? absolutely.
don't buy spontaneously â ex. i went to the store to buy a new bottle of shampoo but ended up with the rose quartz roller too. in the moment, i could easily justify the need for it and a friend even said to go for it (it wasn't expensive either!). now it sits in its box and i only remember to take it out every three months.
don't buy what is not on your shopping list â ex. i needed a new pair of black trousers, and had had them on my list for months already. i found the very best pair i could get on my budget, and going into the store i saw so many beautiful pieces, but kept telling myself i only came in for the black trousers. in the end i left the store with only what i needed, because i knew exactly what my mission there was.
don't buy what won't last â ex. i love to get myself a bouquet of eucalyptus branches every autumn and to let them dry out. i know i can keep those branches for at least a year. while i love fresh flowers too, i know they won't last long. (sometimes i get carnations though, because i know how to keep them going for a relatively long time.) same goes for sweaters: i do not buy acrylic and polyester, simply because i cannot de-pill them the way i can wool.
don't buy what other's have â ex. i've been dreaming of a rice cooker for a very long time, and especially now that many of my friends have gotten one, i can't seem to stop thinking about it. however i know my current kitchen just wouldn't have the space for it, so i stick to cooking my rice on the stove.
don't go into stores if you don't need anything and avoid aisles you don't need anything from â ex. i love this ecological store in town, it always smells earthy and pleasant and has beautiful things inside, but if i enter it without a real need for something, i know i will leave with at least a bar of ridiculously expensive chocolate i wasn't even craving. the same principle applies to online shops!
don't let social media or the people around you create new needs for you â ex. a lot of people on instagram and in my real life are knitting and i would love to do it too! i could easily justify getting all the tools and paying hundreds of euros for wool, but i know i reach for other activities in my free time and that my arms have hurt way too much when i've previously knitted, so it's not for me.
don't buy unnecessary amounts of things â ex. i recently moved to a very small studio. i've previously always had six of each type of plate, because kitchen things tend to be sold in packs of six. this time i just got three of each (three plates, three bowls, three mugs...) and it has been more than enough. i cannot even imagine having to store double the amount of stuff in my tiny kitchen!

Who's up for a reading challenge for 2025? There are many out there but this is one that I designed specifically to help me, and whoever would like to join me, in getting to read those books I have in my own collection or my local library. This was inspired by a friend talking about how the major publishing companies were often putting out so many books that independent authors often get buried in their wake. Personally, I think this isn't helped by the constant "haul" nature of how many of us hoard books. There's nothing wrong with buying books at all, but often I'm seeing a lot of people buying so many books and reading so few. This isn't meant to be an exercise in shame because I am just as likely to pick up another book as the next person but I would like a reason and a bit of a fun exercise in engaging with my own collection with a little more intention. So this brings me to the Year of Reading Challenge! I'm posting the guide for the squares below so if you are so inclined, feel free to join!
The Challenges:
Centre square is Get or Renew Your Library Card. The remaining 24 challenges are:Â
Numbers Game: Read a full series by the same author(s) in 2025. Series can be as short as two books, or as long as you want. If you are a masochist, try the Discworld series, but for all other mortals, choose as you see fit. Series doesnât have to be complete, so GOT is fine.Â
Mine: Read at least 3 books on your shelf. These should be books youâve owned for at least a year. If you actually read everything you buy, these can be library books.Â
Getting To It: Clear at least 2 books off your TBR. Has to have been on the list for at least six months.Â
Nostalgia: Either re-read an old favorite, or read something that reminds you of something you enjoyed.Â
Who Are You Again? Choose a book that youâve forgotten why you put it on your TBR to read.Â
Summer: Read a book that reminds you of summer when you were a kid. Can be a re-read of an old favorite or a book that incorporates something that says summer time to you.Â
Winter: Read a wintery or holiday story that youâve been meaning to get to. Choose something different than you usually read every year.Â
Spring: Budding talent â read a book from an indie author, either one you love or a new to you talent.Â
Autumn: Where Tropes go to Die â Read a genre blend that takes common tropes and familiar themes and puts a different spin on them.Â
Impulse Buy: Youâve done it. Iâve done it. Just read it now.Â
Thumbs Up: Read something that has been recommended to you by someone you know.Â
Ouch: Read or re-read something that gives you emotional damage. We all need a good cry sometimes.Â
Fluff: Sometimes you just want to feel good. Read a book that feels like curling up in a large, warm blanket.Â
Switcheroo: Is Fiction your life? Letâs find one non-fiction book you might like. Are you someone who only reads non-fiction? Letâs try the land of make believe for one book.Â
Thicccc: Stop letting that big book on your shelf bully and intimidate you. Pick it up and let it know who bought/borrowed it.Â
Compact: Sometimes a book doesnât have to be long to pack a punch. Read a book that crams as much story as possible into a punishingly small page count.Â
Young at Heart: Weâre all adults here but sometimes we donât want to be. Read a childrenâs book from any age category.Â
Second Date: Find a book on your shelf or from your library that wasnât your cup of tea. Give it a second try to impress you this time around.Â
Influencer Glamour: You know that book you bought because everyone you know or everyone online said it was the best book in existence, and this is totally different from all the other times another book was the best one theyâve encountered. Letâs read it and find out if the hype was worth the price tag.Â
Perspective is Key: Have you noticed that all the authors you read tend to look the same or have the same background? Time to get out of your bubble and try reading at least one book from an author who has at least three key differences from your favorite ones.Â
Judge by the Cover: We all do it, so letâs just give in to it. Find at least one book from your own collection or the library where you are intrigued by the cover alone. Donât read the synopsis, just dive in.Â
Hear Me Out: Audiobooks count as reading. Better yet, you can read and do other things, like drive or go to the gym or other activities that you canât do with a physical book. Listen to at least one audiobook.Â
The Book was Better: Find a movie or series that was based on a book and find out if the book really was better after all. This can include books that have been optioned for adaptation and no, it doesnât matter if they are languishing in development hell.Â
Pulp: Itâs trash, they say. It might be, but it might also be treasure. Try out a genre of book that gets picked on and see for yourself. If you are already a pulp reader, itâs time to break out the big guns and get to the stuff that scares off literary critics in the first page.Â
Enjoy and happy reading!

Shizuku hinomori
shizuku didnt find anything weird about you being a collector, infact shes just like you! Except she collects completely useless items that remind her of you or her friends, shes very supportive of your habbit and if you dont have much space to place your books she would gladly tell you that you can place some of your things in her home
"Y/n its okay.. ah! How about this.. you can put some of your things in my room! Me and shii will take good care of it" she promises, if she does end up ruining your collection such as losing a shell or a book page tore apart she would be very very stressed
"Aahh!! I-i..i only meant to look at it! Oh y/n dear im so sorry! Will you ever forgive me..?" She asks, you noticed how her eyes were getting wetter and wetter, you told her that everything was perfectly fine and people make mistakes.. thankfully shizuku calmed down a bit "ah.. okay.. thanks dear.. i promise to not do it again.!"
She was a very good listener, would always listen to your chatters and even ask a question or two "thats so cool! What happened next?"
in the end she would take care of the items you collected and treat it as a person, she would clean them and treat them with great care!
Rui kamishiro
Would never judge you for your habit, he would even encourage you by buying you more books or going to the beach just to pick up some shells or other knick knacks
When he enters your room for the first time and sees the bookshelf he was clearly surprised and even stared for a second, he would ask too many questions and if youre cool with it, he would try and take one of your books, to see if you noticed..
He would also give you stuff that reminds him if you, whether its a book, plushie anything, if it resembles you hes show it off
"y/n dear! I saw this book at the library and i think you might like it, wanna read it today?" He asks, even if you declined his offer you would still end up reading the book he purchased
If you're cool with it, rui would put mini doodles behind your books, sometimes it would be a heart, a doodle of both of you or sometimes a drawing of a wee wee..
Because of your habit, he also starts collecting stuff, stuff that reminds him of you or his friends, he also admits that its very fun to collect things!
Honami mochizuki
Homami also collects things just like you, except the things she collects are like going through a memory lane
If she spots you picking some shells at the beach she'll gladly help you out, if she sees a book that has your favorite genre (ex; horror, fiction, etc..) she'll borrow the book and would give it to you as a present
When you finally show her your collection, she looks very surprised, she would grab a shell and would ask a question about it. She's a very patient person so if you talk about your collection she'll listen very closely
She sees how happy you are about your collection, so she decides to why not try it? She was very glad she did because its a very fun hobby indeed! Sometimes the things she collected was given to you<3

Since The Percy Jackson s1 is done, i can now write my overall experience with it. Mind you i only read the first book of PJO because I couldnât afford the books and because goddamn borrowing it from the university library was like a pack of coyotes seeing a slab of meat after 15 years of starvation.
(Side note: i once got scratched in the face by a girl who wanted to read Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, when i was gonna borrow the book for a second time. I learned it was better to just buy the books one by one per year.)
So i fully enjoyed the series. Regardless of how a lot of people have been calling it shit or a disgrace to the books. Like I appreciate how Uncle Rick managed to retell his own story, see it come to life, in a way that he wants. I appreciate Sally Jackson having a bigger impact to how Percy is as a person and as a character.
Yes, i too was shocked with the grover snitch scene in ep 1, then I thought about it, it made sense. Grover is my favorite character and i would like to say that the movie version of Grover made me feel uneasy but this version of grover, he made me long for that kind of friendship. I also love how Grover unlike in the movies, isnât comic relief. You see his emotional struggles. You see him grow from âwe have to keep the peace, letâs all be kindâ to then showing us that heâs more than that. He is smart, cunning, manipulative if need be. He is also brave and he carries so much emotional baggage. The fact that he expresses rage about certain things, makes him feel more human to me. By giving him so much depth, by casting Aryan Simhadri, his depiction of grover would make book grover very proud.
Annabeth is also really really amazing in my eyes. Seeing a child give off an air of âi know things that you donâtâ like an adult is so cool. Seeing her grow from âthe gods are just and they have their reasonsâ to âThe gods have flaws and they make mistakes, but i will be better than thatâ is very tear jerking. It helped me see Annabeth in those moments as a child who didnât get to experience a proper childhood finally see what its like to be loved without having to give anything in return. Leah Sava Jeffries, shows emotions so well. Her posture changes depending on how she feels. She slouches a bit when sheâs dejected or upset and is more poised when sheâs feeling the most confident. Her eyes carry so much emotion in scenes where she doesnât speak. Sheâs a lovely actress.
Percy, gods where do i even begin. Walker first off, played this character so well! You see how heâs feeling through his eyes, his face is so expressive and i love it. Percy also gets my mom approval card (which means my mom also loves his character). The way they show him to be loyal, caring, empathetic but also heâs just a child so you understand why he acts the way he acts. People complained about how percy wasnât fighting like a pro, but i think thatâs what makes it great. Percy is new, heâs learning as he goes, when we finally see Walker Portray the Percy that we all know, we can look back at s1 and weâll see that truly, Percy has grown in skill. Also im always gonna sob over the fact that his scenes where he chooses to sacrifice himself for his friends, he always implies how he isnât enough, we see how he sees himself and that hurts. Percyâs sass and humor though are also such highlights. I would love to see more of walkerâs percy too.
Now honorable mention to my favorite backstabbing, pretty boy, luke. I love how he is such a good actor. Watching him play luke kinda immersed me in the moment, i forgot that this kind ,young man is the antagonist. Because when he played luke when we first saw him, i too wouldnât be able to think that this guy, he can be cruel. But he delivers so much rage, so much resentment in his scene with percy in the finale. The way charlie acted in that scene, gods, i was shocked. I truly believe watching him and his characterâs descent to something more is gonna be a rollercoaster ride of emotions.
The show in itself is really really good. Yes there are odd sudden black screens, but I donât mind them. I donât mind the changes, i just think that the episodes could be a bit longer. The story is captivating even with those changes, i love how Uncle Rick got the chance to give us an adaptation that isnât an exact copy of the book, because i believe that a good adaptation doesnât need to be a scene per scene copy, because if thatâs what yâall wanted, listen to an audio book where people act out the scenes. Think of it this way, the book and the show are just two separate universes. Like how we have the MCU and the Marvel Comics. Same characters but different continuums.
People tend to find the negatives before they see the positives, its how weâre mostly wired. If we look past them, youâll see that there are things that are better.
I would definitely be excited for a s2

So, as you can probably guess by this post, I've decided to continue posting wrap-ups after all, but not necessarily a review every month. (This month, for instance, I read a bunch of good stuff but nothing I wanted to rave about.) I'm still tracking this stuff for my own edification and I like coming up with snappy one-sentence summaries, so if I'm doing 90% of the work alreadyâŚ. You'll also notice that this year, for spice and transparency, I'm adding in where I got the books from, in case people somehow though I was buying everything.
Anyway, I've had a good start to my reading year, all told. Sadly I've already had a DNFâit's a great fantasy if you're moving from YA to adult, but I wanted something moreâand one book that probably should have been a DNF but I pushed through to find out what was causing the horror stuff and ⌠didn't get a good answer. But everything else was good!
I have not, however, done well on my goal of "buy fewer books". Mislaid in Parts Half-Known and the new Rivers of London comic were auto-buys, and The History of Magic is one I've wanted to read for a while but is now effectively out of print in Canada and unavailable at the library so when it showed up to work on saleâŚ. My last book purchase was even more accidental; a semi-coworker reached out with their recent unhaul and asked if I'd like to take anything off their hands. I'd heard of Fantomina and it seemed up my alleyâ17th-century romance/erotic/feminist fictionâand the price was right.
Oh yes, and my work got Bookshops and Bonedust stickers. I had no choice there either.
And that's about it for updates! Click through to see everything I read this month, in the rough order of how glad I was to have read them.

Could you expand on what you said in a post about libraries about the big 5 publishers screwing over libraries in terms of digital lending rights?? Iâve not heard of that at *all* and im generally pretty caught up on publisher news, so I think theres a pretty big library-shaped hole in my sources lol
All righty, a couple disclaimers here. One, this is from a Canadian library perspective, so idk how well it applies to the US. Two, I don't work in the collections department at my library, so I'm basing this off what I remember from class years ago
(also clarifying that I'll be referring to ebooks and audiobooks collectively as digital books just to make it easier)
But in short, the Big Five publishers only very reluctantly put up with libraries having physical books, and one of the reasons they do that is because only one person can have a physical book at a time. Digital books, though? Why, if a library has a copy of one of those, hundreds of people could read it at a time! That's profits they're losing! How terrible!
But, well, selling to libraries is still a sale, so the companies sell to them but restrict it as much as possible. One, libraries pay much more for digital books than your average consumer. I don't have the exact number, but it's significantly higher. Two, unlike a physical book, which a library can have rebound if it's popular but hard to find, and which could conceivably last years if it's hardcover or paperback binding, digital books have severe limits on them. Maybe the library can only buy one "copy" of a digital book - i.e., only one patron can use it at a time. That digital copy artificially expires after 20 loans or 2 years, whichever comes first. Got a waitlist of 50 people waiting to read the latest Alexander McCall Smith book? Too bad! 30 of them are gonna have to go without! Do you have a moderately popular book by Danielle Steel, which gets borrowed every couple of months? Sorry! You've had it for two years, so it's gone now! Better buy a new copy!
Now, this is the case on digital platforms like Libby/Overdrive. Each digital book acts the same as a physical book, except that most of them go away after a certain amount of time. Certain public domain books might be a one-time buy for libraries, but for the most part, every loan, every week that goes by is chipping away at a digital book's life. Certain digital platforms - Hoopla, for example - have what's called "simultaneous use" policies - maybe you only have one ebook copy of a book by Agatha Christie, but every library patron can read it at once. The trade-off for this is that my library has to pay a certain amount for every person currently reading or listening to a book on Hoopla. We have a daily budget that can't be exceeded. Every week we field calls from people who, one afternoon, wanted to open up Hoopla, but were told they couldn't take out any books - because too many of my library's 40 000 active patrons had also decided to enjoy a book that day. And not every publisher even allows simultaneous use licenses, or they don't allow it on all of their titles
A final reminder to this very long post: please do not boycott Libby or Hoopla over this, I beg of you. Your libraries are pouring a lot of money into them because they're being used. Instead, put pressure on the big five publishers to make their digital books accessible, and vote in your municipal elections to get libraries more funding so we have more budget to put into those items. An easy way to increase your library's funding is just to spend a bit of time a week in there. Hang out with your friend for a few hours, just walk in and look at the shelves, or sit there and use their free wifi to play games on your phone. Digital books are here to stay, and libraries are important for getting those books into people's hands
#long post#libraries#if i made any errors pls lemme know#i'm remembering what we were taught in class but this was...er 2019 or 2020 or so#it might've changed since then but tbh probably not for the better#asks

aaaa omg hello i hope youâre doing fantastic. Omg so headcannons for character of your choice with a reader who has like a special interest and can ramble for a really long time. Im talking like 30 mins to like 2 hours about their interest. Which character do you think can like sit through all of it? I sometimes find myself talking for a long time about my interests and itâs like OMG SO EMBARRASSING. I hope ur doing well btw and I hope your brothers surgery goes successfully. Make sure to stay hydrated xoxo
Characters I Think Can Listen To You Ramble For Hours - Izuku, Bakugou, Levi, Newt
A/N: Omg hi!! Iâm doing alright, how are you? I love this idea because I tend to talk a lot about what I like and sometimes I feel like people arenât listening, so I really do love this request! And my brotherâs surgery went so much better than expected and heâs been doing really well. Thank you so much for caring about him!
Izuku Midoriya
Itâs an unspoken rule that if you can sit and listen to Izuku ramble, he can listen to you ramble too
Sometimes writes down what youâre saying in his notebook as a way to keep track of what you like and dislike
His favorite thing to listen to you go on about are rants from throughout your day
Your teammates donât ever know when practices are and youâre the captain? Heâll listen to you go on and on
Your ex-best friend tried to act like nothing happened between you two? Izukuâs offering ways to ignore them or to forget about them for a while
Loves listening to you ramble just as much as you love listening to him
Bakugou Katsuki
This boy grew up with Izuku, how could he not be bothered by your constant rambling
Doesnât phase him one bit when you come storming into his bedroom claiming you had the rant of a lifetime for him
Sometimes tunes you out but listens for the most part
Joins in when youâre going off about someone you donât like
Can sit through the two hour ramble over your favorite tv show and know has memorized the main characters, the release date of the next season, most of the plot, and how attractive you think your favorite character is
Levi Ackerman
Heâs friends with Hange, so heâs used to listening to long rambles or rants
Calmly sits in his office chair and does paperwork as you talk
He doesnât mean to be rude, but the sound of your voice is the one thing that can get him to fall asleep so he sometimes dozes off while youâre talking
After an hour long rant about your new favorite book that you borrowed from the library, he buys you a copy to keep in his office
Can sit through anything you talk about, no matter how strange he thinks the topic of conversation is
Newt Scamander
100% of his attention is on you
Doesnât miss a single word you say, and if he does he kindly asks you to repeat yourself
Lets you follow him around and ramble as he feeds his creatures
And if your special interests are his creatures? Newt will write down every fact you spit out just in case he doesnât know as much as you do
Occasionally chimes into the conversation, but mainly leaves all of the talking to you
Newt doesnât care how long you talk for
Heâs just happy to sit and listen knowing that youâre comfortable enough around him to talk about your favorite subjects for hours on end

@catastrxblues I will kms I'm so sorry I lost the ask somehow so I'm just gonna work off memory bc I'm an idiot đ
If I miss anything please tell me!!!! I'm once again really sorry and will defenestrate myself once I'm done with this! (How tf did I lose AN ASKKK??? ITS NOT EVEN A PHYSICAL THING!?) I made this into a review bc yes
It contains like spoilers ig? It's actually not even spoilers I don't think I'd call it one because it doesn't ruin the show for anyone at all just unnecessary info provided ahead
OK HERE WE GO
Lockwood and Co: Worth watching?
Ok so, Lockwood and Co. I'm so glad you're liking it so far!! It's honestly such a good series you need to finish it ! However, if you want more context/info (because let's be fair books have more information than shows because obvi it contains thoughts of the characters that can't be said aloud in the shows) i definitely recommend reading through the books first!!! The books are from Lucy's perspective as far as I can remember and the sarcasm not only of her but every single other character is SO IMMENSE. Like all of them are so sarcastic at the most unexpected time it's actually hilarious. It's like they are meant for each other and became besties the moment they met like it's SO CUTE. it's banter and if you don't know me I'm an absolute banter girly LMAO
it's (in my absolutely correct opinion jkjk) one of THE best book series. I'm very picky when it comes to books (especially series where you have to spend quite a bit of money) but lemme tell you, this book was an absolute 1000000000000000000/10 for me. The way the book is presented, the characters are presented isn't a drag which is my problem with most books. it's a thriller right at the start. It provides relevant information, never digressing (unlike me LMAO) and never steering off-topic. Stroud knows how to capture it's readers and once you've made past the starting bit of the first book (the only bit that seems like a drag to me and it isn't really it's introducing characters so ykyk) you will absolute enjoy it if you love thriller books. Needless to say, it's one of my absolute favourite series for that exact reason. Thriller books to me are the equivalent to heaven because of how there's always something happening. There is a mystery and it's solved. You just need to be patient enough to reach the end of the books and WOOHOO! you've just finished a thriller book! and you loved it (ofc bc why wouldn't you)
The thing with me is that i hate anything that isn't a sick twisted mystery with a bajillion plot twists, supernatural things and contains people that yield weapons.
Favourite Lockwood and Co book?
Yes there are 5 books in the series! I got gifted the first two Lockwood and Co books buy a friend and lemme tell you I thought I wouldn't like them at all. Boy was I wrong. I feel like it takes ages to find some book that you actually like. Finding a book/movie genre is similar to finding a music taste! It's all subjective. All opinion based (well apart from the fact that Lockwood and Co is the best book series to ever exist. That's completely objective). If you like supernatural stuff, books that keep you on the edge of your seat etc then Lockwood and Co is very much recommended.
My favourite book is either 4 or 5. 4 is the creeping shadow and if I remember correctly it contains info about Lockwood's past. It gives insight on him and his character and everything else so I love it! If you're wanting to read book 4 however, I definitely recommend reading the earlier books first because they are in order and it's just better that way ykyk. 5 is the empty grave (I read that book by borrowing it from the library LMAO). I love it because well first of all it's the last book in the series: kinda bittersweet but ykyk. And secondly, because it's such an immersive book. I mean that the case with every single book in the series but 5 specially.
You didn't ask this but my favourite character is definitely the skull! I love his absolutely sarcastic nature he's just absolutely hilarious. And he helps but in such an indirect way it's hard to tell! And he's sarcastic all the time to the point that you can't tell when he isn't!!!
Locklyle Romance
You are absolutely right in that the romance is a major part of the series unlike the books. The book contains quite a bit of tension but sometimes that tension can be felt better when you're watching then when you're reading. Also, lockwood and co is about supernatural ghost hunting saving the world sorta thing. So, while the books explore some romantic themes, it isn't solely about romance. Nowadays, almost all shows contain romance: doesn't matter if it's comedy, horror, thriller, mystery and whatnot. Romance has become such a recurring theme in shows, movies etc it's hard to find shows without romance. Lockwood and Co as a netflix show and book ofc doesn't contain STRONG romantic themes. This allows it to be a show for comparatively younger kids. Not like super super young but like not 15+ either. It's a well balanced show: contains a bit of everything. The tension however leaves people wanting to see Locklyle be a thing.
In my opinion, the romance and tension makes the people want to watch more for more than one reason which I think is a start move from the creators side. I LOVE Locklyle and I am the #1 Locklyle shipper because they're so cute (poor George). And they're both so oblivious it actually makes me want to kms because JUST KISS ALREADY!! My favourite Locklyle scene is either the toast one or when she's calming him down outside (I don't want to spoil it for you or anyone so I'll be very vague) I also love the bandage one but like Lucy calming him down one is so CUTE! I'm not sure if you've already seen that it might be in later episodes so I'll be really vague. Also the toast scene>>>>!! get yourself a man who looks proud after giving you a buttered toast it's actually so cute I love Lockwood smmmm
UNFORTUNATELY, NETFLIX DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THAT AND AS FAR AS I KNOW IT CANCELLED (CANCELLED!) THE SHOW.
If netflix doesn't change it's mind, I will find out where the person who cancelled it lives and make them be a ghost in a new Lockwood and Co book written by me which will be based on a true story đ
Anyways, I had SO MUCH FUN. TYSM NADINE (also is it okay if I call you that?) ILYSM and sorry about the stupid ask disappearing without my consent đ
