QUESTION!!! what’s your favorite fish :3
Oh, wow, that's so hard to answer
Let's start with the fish I have, I'm not sure I have a favorite, so much as there are fish that I would absolutely recommend and/or buy myself again
Goldfish - super intelligent, unpredictable murder machines 7/10, what am I even supposed to do with this creature
Gold Dust Mollies - stressed like me, hide a lot, we didn't run their bubbler for two weeks because we were waiting for a hookup to run the starter baby tank and the bubbler at the same time, it came, I turned on the bubbler, and traumatized them for over a month, not sure how my partner puts up with me. Also, live births. 3/10, master level fish, harder than they seem at first glance, worth it if you put in the time
Zebra Danios (short fin) - so speedy fast, racing all the time, so many wiggles, Java moss is a must, watch them wiggle wiggle wiggle so fast, interactive, not as pretty as some other fish, but their little front fins make me happy, lays eggs, 9/10, highly recommend
Cardinal Tetras - calm little puppies, very colorful, low maintenance, their little mouths, and when they look at you from the front, such silly little eyes, kind of boring though, lays eggs, 8/10, highly recommend
Corydora - give me a tank with just 100 of these, love them, adorable, so fast, they breathe air so they go racing to the top, and they're so fast they make a bloop, and then go racing back down. They flirt by vibrating at each other. Lays eggs. 10/10 for constant amusement, 6/10 for difficulty, they poison themselves when stressed, good luck getting them home in one piece, my recommendation: buy at least 3 at once (MUST have at least 6 for a healthy group, when I say 3, I mean your replacements after you fuck up the first time, buy only 1 or 2 and you're almost guaranteed to lose them as well, just hold off and wait until you need 3, even if your group size is 4 or 5), either have the fish store wrap their bag in dark paper towel, or bring one yourself.
Also, they blink, and it's creepy, this knocks another two points off, 4/10, advanced fish
Fun story, they sit very cutely on anything, and i pulled out my phone to take a video, and after several minutes, it stopped being cute and started being worrying, and then...
Tumblr media
PLECO! We have 2, a female albino bushy nose, named Happy Andy, and a miserable male clown named Angry Gary. Don't look online to see what they're going to be like. No pleco is like another, and you literally have no idea what you're going to get until it's in your tank and settled. There's a 90% chance you'll never see your pleco. You will always worry about whether it's alive. If it's a tank of just small fish, he is, I promise, leave it alone. When you do see them, it'll make your heart very happy. They poop. A lot. I can't state that enough. 7/10, would still recommend.
Betta - hardy, a classic, gorgeous, save them from the cups. You can only have 1 in a tank. No, don't get the little 3 tanks together separated by glass, they can smell and see each other and it's stressful for them. Please don't give them less than a 10 gallon ): you most likely can't keep anything with them, but you can increase your chances of a peaceful community tank by putting in your peaceful fish first, and then adding the betta. Remember to only keep very FAST fish with your betta, like tetras. Super easy to care for, but will give you a lot of stress for no reason. 8/10, they lose a point for such limited tank mates. Highly recommend.
Mystery guppy - magically appeared in my male betta tank, will update when I figure out what it is. 7/10 mystery baby experience. I'm enjoying myself.
Now, the fish I WANT
I can really only go by other lists, so I think, right now, the fish I'm obsessed with is the boeseman's rainbowfish.
Tumblr media
They get about 10cm, and you need at least 6 of them, so you need a big boy tank for sure. They're apparently quite hardy, peaceful, and longlived (8 years, if you're lucky!!). Their mouth is small, so they can be kept with a variety of tank mates. They're apparently really interesting to watch swim, because they school.
I think that'll be my next goal.
Share your favorite fish with me!!

What Should You Do Daily if You Have an Aquarium?
Passionate aquarists keep expensive fish in their aquariums. It’s way more than just a hobby for most of them when they invest thousands in buying and breeding expensive aquarium fish from Asian Arowana to Flowerhorn Cichlid, Peppermint Angelfish, and so on. Even with a Kintons aquarium, where you keep molly, guppies, neon tetra, goldfish, angel fish, etc., you need to follow a few regular rituals to keep your fish healthy.
Here are a few things to do daily if you have an aquarium—
Buy nutritious food for your aquarium fish
Give your fish the best quality nutritious food. Buy premium-quality sakura koi food online considering the aquarium fish that you have. Some fish require living worms in their daily diet. However, this causes excessive dirt in your tank. Therefore, have a word with experts and follow the diet routine of your fish necessary for their healthy survival.
Clean the filters once in a while
You need to clean the filters installed inside your sobo aquarium 2.5 feet or of any other size once in a while. However, you can at least take out the sieve-like layer from the filter and wash it off daily if you have bigger fish for increasing the functionality of the filter.
Run the pump daily
It is strongly suggested by experts to run the submersible pumps daily in your fish tank Malaysia for increasing the oxygen level in the water and reduce the carbon-di-oxide level from the water.
Once every week, change a portion of water from the top with fresh water in your fish tank to create a healthy environment for the fish.

These are Mollies. They are my new favorite aquarium fish. They come in lots of different varieties but they’re all Mollies and they’ll all live together and even breed with each other in an aquarium.
They weren’t always my favorite. I used to be all about the Rainbow Shark. And Danios. I always thought you couldn’t go wrong with Danios. But after my last Rainbow Shark died after being in my aquarium for 6 years, I thought, I’ve had the same kind of fish in this thing for 6 years now... Nothing but Rainbow Shark and Zebra Danios... What I could put in the tank was kind of limited because of the Rainbow Shark, and there had been a lot of other fish I’d wanted to try but had never been able too because the shark just wouldn’t get along with them... So I thought, before I go out and get another shark, how about I try something new for a change? I’d wanted to get some White Cloud Mountain Minnows. Something about them just seemed very appealing to me. But when I went fish shopping I couldn’t find any anywhere.
But I needed to get something, because all I had left in my tank was a single, female, Koi Betta, who had spent all her life living in a community tank and was starting to act kind of depressed now that she was alone. So without the option of the fish I wanted, I decided to try whatever looked appealing. And that was when I spotted the Dalmatian Mollies. I’d had Mollies once before in my fish keeping career and it was a very brief experience that ended... not well... But I actually know what I’m doing now and those black and white speckled fish matched the new substrate I’d recently put into the tank, so I thought they’d look good in there. Why not give it a try?
I should point out that the only place near me where I can buy fish is Petsmart. I could drive an hour to the city where there’s a much nicer pet store, but not just to buy a whatever looks good fish. They didn’t have White Clouds either so I didn’t see the point in going there. But Petsmart is kind of hit or miss when it comes to healthy fish. So it took me several attempts before I had a tank full of stable fish. And by that point they weren’t all Dalmatian Mollies. I’ve ended up with a tank of assorted Mollies. My male is a Dalmatian Molly (Who looks like he may have been the result of crossbreeding with some kind of Sailfin), and my females consist of two Black Mollies, two Orange Balloon Belly Mollies, and one Dalmatian Balloon Belly Molly.
I was relieved. Finally I had a stable population of fish in my tank that weren’t getting sick on me, and as it turned out, the Mollies are really adorable and have fun personalities. And being able to mix the assorted variations of the fish made the tank look a lot more interesting too. So they quickly became my new favorite fish.
And then I found babies in the tank!
Okay, Mollies are livebearers so I knew there was a chance of that happening. I didn’t expect it to happen only days after finally getting the tank stable...
Tumblr media
So now I’ve got a breeder box in my tank with 5 fry in it. The only ones I was able to find in the tank and capture. I’m guessing if there were more they were eaten.
Tumblr media
When I first started spotting the fry in the tank it was just two of them, so I thought the mother had only started having them. And I assumed the mother was this very light, semi-translucent girl here. These were my first Mollies of the Balloon Belly variety so I’m still not very good at telling if they are pregnant or not, but after looking some stuff up online I determined that she looks pregnant to me. So I quickly got her into the breeding box in the hopes of containing the rest of them. But then she didn’t have any and more fry kept appearing in the tank.
I’m pretty sure now that they were actually coming from this girl here instead...
Tumblr media
After further research I’m almost 100% positive they were... Which means I now have 5 fry that survived who I’m keeping away from the other fish, because these are my first fish babies and I really want to watch them grow up... and another fish who I’m still pretty sure is still pregnant, which means more on the way...
Which again, I was not expecting to happen this soon because now my main tank is overstocked, and my kitchen tank needs to be cleaned and cycled before it can go back into use, leaving me with a bunch of new Mollies I would have been ready for in like, a month from now, but not right at this exact moment.
These are Mollies, my new favorite fish. Fuck them...

Pet Jellyfish Guide
For those of us who are energetic about marine life and the magnificence that it shows in oceans, seas and different waterways, we are continually searching for approaches to bring that equivalent happiness and ravishing landscape to our homes. We put resources into tanks that show a delightful cluster of water animals. Generally normal in homes are tanks with new water fish. In any case, lately saltwater tanks have gotten an excellent decision for home stylistic theme.
Tumblr media
Numerous assortment of fish live in the pungent water of the seas. As such there are a few animal varieties that are kept in tanks. Mainstream species incorporate clownfish, coral wonders, mollies, and chalk bass. These fish have been extraordinary for amateur and progressed aquarium darlings for quite a long time. Nonetheless, saltwater tank fans have begun taking their satisfaction to another level. Saltwater tanks with pet Jellyfish have become the new rage!
On the off chance that you have considered having pet Jellyfish, this article is for you. Here your will pick up information and understanding into what Jellyfish are and detail the means expected to get your tank of Jellies up and going. Before the finish of this article you will have a superior comprehension of whether these gleaming animals of happiness are for you.
Pet Jellyfish Guide
We should make a plunge… ..
What precisely are Jellyfish?
Jellyfish or Jellies are found all through the world's seas. These are mostly found in the Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean and furthermore Pacific Ocean. Around the size of a plate, it is conspicuous by the four circles noticeable through the clear white chime. These four circles are balls, the regenerative organs situated at the lower part of the stomach, and they are ordinarily clear in shading. Jellyfish are 95% water. To place this in context they incredibly have a similar water substance of cucumbers, or melons. Jellyfish have no mind, blood or heart.
Jellyfish have small stinging cells in their dainty appendages to daze or incapacitate their prey before they eat them. Inside their unmistakable ringer formed body is an initial that is its mouth. They eat and dispose of waste from this opening. Jams digest their food rapidly.
A greater part Jellyfish are viewed as risky because of their stinging capacities and noxious component. Its safe to state that all species will sting and its best to not contact any. This goes particularly for little youngsters. There are a couple of types of Jellies that are fundamentally innocuous. The most secure types of Jellyfish that have developed in fame are the Moon Jellies or Aurelia Aurita .
Qualities of Moon Jellyfish:
•           Short, stinging limbs and balls in four circles
•           Mild sting with innocuous toxin
•           Clear and straightforward
•           Around 5 to 40 cm wide
•           Saucer-formed umbrella head
•           Four long oral arms
•           Abundant in many seas and waterfront waters
•           Can withstand freezing water (up to - 6 degrees Celsius)
Moon Jellyfish don't have sufficient stinging capacity to enter through the human skin, however in the event that you happen to get brushed by one, you will feel a minor stinging sensation. On the off chance that you do get contacted or stung by a Moon Jellyfish you ought to be fine.
Grown-ups have a future of over one year in an aquarium. With legitimate taking care of and upkeep you can have numerous long stretches of happiness from your Moonies.
Presently lets investigate the essential hardware and supplies that you will requirement for progress with your pet.
Tumblr media
Tank
Most complete tank units will incorporate light packs, air framework, food and cleaning supplies. The better quality tanks may accompany a far off for choosing various hues or diverse enhanced visualizations. The light on most tanks originates from the sides or base to give the impact of the Jellyfish shining. Tanks can be bought online at an expense of around 300 Dollars for a fundamental 2 gallon tank and you ought to hope to pay around 500 Dollars for an overhauled 5 gallon tank.
•           Filtration System
This air framework will help guarantee a delicate roundabout current is kept up to help shield Jellyfish from sinking to the base and being stale.
•           Jelly Salt
Never utilize common faucet water. Your tank will require astounding water quality that is blended in with a Jelly Salt.
•           Hydrometer
This hydrometer is utilized to quantify the saltiness in the water. 1.020 to 1.024 salt water is ideal.
•           Jellyfish food/Hatchery
Jellyfish eat a wide range of sorts of things, for example, little plants, fish eggs and other little fish.
In imprisonment, I have discovered that it is more helpful to take care of Jellies incubated fish eggs from your own incubator. These incubators are round gadgets that develop the saline solution shrimp eggs and you can simply scoop and pour them in the tank after they bring forth.
•           Jelly Bio Starter
This arrangement will help make valuable microscopic organisms in your tank. This microorganisms will kill the alkali, nitrates and nitrites likewise with assistance with separating your jellyfish byproducts.
•           Moon Jellyfish
As I noted before, Moon Jellyfish are the more famous and more secure of pet Jellies to have. They can be bought on the web on the off chance that they are not sold locally to you. The normal expense of a medium size Jellyfish is around 30 dollars each. Whenever requested on the web, they will be dispatched for the time being and pressed in ice to keep your new Jellies in great condition.
Crabs and snails at the base to help keep the tank clean
So since you know the essentials of the hardware you should keep up your pet Jellyfish in your home or office. Lets address how to set your tank up for progress and life span. Here are the suggested advances:
1.         Pour the Jelly salt into the water ideally in a different basin first.
2.         Test the saltiness of the water with a Hydrometer. Ideal saltiness ought to be 1.020 to 1.024
3.         Dump the saltwater into your tank. Turn on the tank filtration framework.
4.         Add the bio starter media . I Recommend letting the tank cycle for about fourteen days or more before including the Jellyfish. You will realize your tank is completely cycled when your alkali and nitrates are understanding zero or beneath. Long haul presentation to smelling salts and nitrate can be very harming. Shorter appendages, more fragile beating, a level ringer, and mortality will be an outcome.
Tumblr media
Acquainting your new Jellyfish with their new home is genuinely straightforward and fairly regular of any fish tank set up. Make certain to adapt the Jellyfish to the temperature in the tank by setting the holder they are put away in inside the tank. Empty water from the tank into the holder of Jellies in brief spans. Keep up your tank at a temperature somewhere in the range of 66 and 76 degrees fahrenheit.
Change 25 percent of the water each one to about fourteen days. During water change its essential to be aware of progress in temperature, ph, and saltiness.
Be cautious about air pockets which can make harm the chime of the jam and lead to death.
Legitimate Feeding of Jellyfish:
Right taking care of is critical to keeping these around long haul. When daily as it were.
In the wild, Jellies are lethargic feeders and commonly catch their prey and sting them with their appendages. The food moves to their arms, mouths and in the end sinks into one of their four stomachs.
In imprisonment there are a couple of methods that you can use to take care of your pet fish. The best techniques appear to be target taking care of each fish by pouring in the food or saline solution straightforwardly close to the Jellies with a taking care of cylinder. Additionally compelling is pouring powdered food in the water so the fish will in the long run eat it.
I suggest incubating saline solution shrimp eggs for your Jellyfish to have their dinner rather than dry powder which contaminates the water.
Tumblr media
In Summary,
As I have detail having pet Moon Jellyfish is work concentrated, however whenever kept in ideal conditions they can be interesting to keep. An eye getting discussion piece in your home for a long time. The expense of buying and keeping up your tank could be somewhat lavish. However, the visual satisfaction and energy they will bring to you and your family can be definitely justified even despite the cash. Tolerance, great consideration and following the means in this article can give you a huge amount of fun with these gleaming animals.

One of the newest members in my group of friends began spreading lies about me, saying that I had been bitching about everyone behind their back. I hadn’t obviously, but they believed her, and in the space of a day, I had lost all of the friends I had made in my five years during high school. My first lesson of the decade: if I have something to say to someone, just say it!
I left high school, with one friend, whom I had had since primary school. I passed all of my GCSEs, and I began sixth form. I was part of the first year to attend this sixth form, and it was exciting to help work out the kinks, and I got to study two different types of English (language and literature), photography and sociology.
After my brothers’ girlfriend had suffered a miscarriage the previous year, she got pregnant again, and my twin nieces (Ellie and Layla) were born; they were premature, but oh so perfect, and changed my life, honestly.
I went to North Carolina, and spent my sixteenth birthday there, where I met my best online friend. I had an amazing time, and again, it was an experience that changed my life forever.
I stopped speaking to my dad, for many reasons; that’s such a long story, that now’s not the time.
My mum’s boyfriend moved in, and began a seven year story of abuse.
2011.
I met four of my best friends; they changed me so much for the better. WE shared some good memories, some of which I still cry reminiscing on to this day.
After getting scolded at sixth form, I actually began putting some effort into my A Levels, shocking my teachers at what I was capable of!
The friend I visited in America came to visit me in England for three weeks, though as none of us could drive, it was not half as exciting and action packed as my time in North Carolina! Sorry about that!
One of my best friends that turned my back on me in the previous year? I began speaking to her again, she is still my best friend to this day, and we began opening up about our struggles with mental health a lot more.
I began bulking my CV out a lot more, between work experience at my old high school, and volunteering at a charity shop and an art gallery, I barely had any time for myself!
I also began running a creative writing club at sixth form, which formed the basis of them beginning the creative writing A Level! One of my proudest achievements.
My mums dachshund got pregnant, and we kept one of them - my little dachshund/Jack Russell cross, Molly!
2012
My hard work paid off - I was the only one in my group of friends to get offers from all five universities I applied for! My first choice was University of Lincoln, and I moved 150 miles away from everyone I knew to study English.
I became a really shitty person. With the psychological abuse my mums boyfriend put me through, that friend who came to visit me, and I went to visit? I treated her awfully. I pushed her away on purpose, I hurt her so bad. I think about it every day, and every day I regret it.
I joined the Anime Society, and met a lot of great, fucked up people. I met people on my course. I met a lot of people, most I don't speak to anymore, but given half the chance, I'd welcome them back in my life with open arms.
I began drinking too much, like I don't remember much of my first year, I tried passing this toxic behaviour off as a personality trait. How wrong was I.
2013
A long story, but I got in my first 'relationship that wasn't a relationship', and he broke up with me at the beginning of the summer as he was finishing university, and I was only just beginning, and we lived on other sides of the country.
Upon reflection on things I ultimately regret, I made the decision to begin speaking to my dad again. He ultimately got married, in a wedding I was the only family member to not be invited.
I moved in with four gay people, and experienced the best parties I've ever been too, honestly. Though as housemates, they were insanely flawed.
I got into my first real relationship! He was psychologically abusive, took all of my money, nearly got me kicked out of university, made me lose all my friends, and... What a fella.
He raped me, five days before Christmas. I still suffer with trauma from this, but I'm not ashamed of it anymore.
2014
I attempted suicide. I broke my families heart and I promised my Nanny Gate that I would never hurt myself again.
I broke up with my boyfriend! To which my housemates took me out for drinks and a celebratory meal. They had no idea what had happened to me, but they knew he was bad news.
My dad forced my mum to sell my childhood home, forcing me, my mum and our abuser to move into a tiny two bedroom house, with seven dogs.
Another niece, Imogen, was born!
As well as drinking too much, I began trying drugs, trying to pass it off as a quirky part of my personality.
That friend that I visited in America, and she visited me in England? I began speaking to her again. Although we don't speak much, I could talk to her every day if I could. I'm so thankful that even if she didn't forgive me for everything I did to her, she put it behind her to rekindle our friendship.
I moved in with two of my best friends! Though by the end of the year, we would hate one of them. This happened all the places I lived during university.
I began dating a man I thought I would marry.
(Also, fun fact, I went on holiday to Walton-on-the-Naze that year, where I stayed at the same part of the caravan park @onetruejonsey lived with his girlfriend at the time, I got drunk, and got lost, and tried to get into his caravan! If that's not fate...)
2015
I got my degree without much effort, and I realised I've never really tried at anything. My dad and my boyfriend didn't attend my graduation, but mum and I had a blast.
For so many reasons, I fell out of love with my boyfriend, though he manipulated me into staying with him for almost a full extra year.
I got my first job as a Healthcare Assistant! But I quit as I saw too many residents being treated badly, and no manager or supervisor was interested in hearing my concerns. I done work experience at my old sixth form, trying to find an age group I'd like to teach, turns out older kids weren't that. But I did get a Christmas Temp job at EE.
2016
My boyfriend broke up with me, so angry that I had tried to break up with him and he had not let me, I got back with him just to break up with him. I am a pretty little bitch, honestly.
I went to Kenya with my mum, so we could complete our bucket list item of seeing giraffes and elephants in the wild. It was incredible, and made me reevaluate how lucky I am.
I got a job at B&Q, though my supervisors were awful, I made some good friends with other members of staff.
I planned to take my life at the end of April.
My Granddad Gate got there first, losing his battle to COPD just three days before I had planned to die. Seeing my Nanny Gate and mum, I decided to not go through with it.
While window shopping on Plenty of Fish, I met @onetruejonsey.
One of my friends from sixth form got me into trying harder drugs. I decided to stop speaking to her, I sometimes still get an angry text to this day.
Me, mum and our abuser got evicted from our house.
2017
@onetruejonsey's mum, knowing the situation with my abuse at home, offered for me to move in with them. We went to London for four days, and decided I should move in by the end of January, six months into dating.
I got a job with him and his mum at McDonalds, we were everyone's parents, and it was amazing.
I was discriminated against because of my mental health, and I gave a days notice that I was quitting. Someone else put in a formal complaint about how they had treated me, which made me feel a lot better about everything.
My Nanny Gate was hospitalised over Christmas, where she stopped speaking, eating, and drinking. Her three favourite things.
2018
@onetruejonsey and I experienced the worst argument I've ever had in a relationship; one of which I still think back to, to try and figure out what happened, and learn from.
My poor mum went off work sick for a broken foot and got evicted from her bungalow in the same month, meaning she had to go back to our abuser.
My Nanny Gate died, but my mum, brother and I were all with her when she passed.
This meant my mum had to pack my Nanny Gate's belongings as well as her own bungalow, the deadline for each was only a couple of days from each other. I moved back in with her for a month to help with this.
I was unemployed for five months, and after working so hard to get out of my overdraft during my time at McDonalds, I ended up with £5 in my bank.
With my Nanny Gate not around to say anything anymore, I began self-harming again. Though @onetruejonsey then made me promise to stop it, and I hate breaking my promises.
I got a job as a Housekeeper at Premier Inn, after my second interview. It was only a Summer job, and they tried so hard to fire me, but never found the grounds. After a teaching job fell through, I got my act together and became one of the best housekeepers at the site.
My fourth, and final niece, little Millie was born. With her ginger curly hair, my heart could have burst with love.
@onetruejonsey and I have a tradition to go to the zoo for my birthday, with my mum and nieces. Surrounded by them and giraffes, he got down on one knee and proposed to me! I cried so much, and so many people congratulated us. Even the guy who yelled "HAS SHE SAID YES YET" which makes me laugh everytime!
2019.
@onetruejonsey and I learnt to drive, and we brought our little car, Moss. We have plans to update him to a better car ASAP, but at the moment, I'm so in love with him that I can't bare the thought of getting rid of him!
After nearly getting our own flat, I can't imagine life without a dog. We decided to stay put with his parents, and save as much money as we can to buy a house. A house we will raise our children in one day, dog and bearded dragon included!
2018 was such a shit year, it took up until Summer this year to recover fully from it. When we decided to start planning our wedding. Of which we have booked 90% of everything.
I went on my twenty-first teaching interview, and after that rejection, I decided the universe was sending me a sign. I had not enjoyed any of my previous work experience, and I didn't enjoy working with the kids during interviews. I made a conscious decision that I would not pursue that anymore.
I was discriminated against at Premier Inn when I went into crisis with my menal health, the same day our hotel manager was visiting with an apprenticeship tutor. I spoke to her, and she offered me a job at a different site, where I would do housekeeping and reception, and an apprenticeship, and get a pay rise, AND one day becoming assistant hotel manager, but maybe at a different site.
My decade did not go as planned. I hoped to be teaching by now, but the universe has had different plans for me. A lot of bad stuff has happened to me, but that's karma I suppose. While at university, I spoke to a good friend, and we talked about how bullshit dream jobs were, and I made a promise to myself that I wanted to grow up to be unapologetically happy. So in this decade, that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to work whatever job will pay me that I enjoy, I will come home to a fiance who loves me and I love him, we will have our wedding, we will buy our house together and drive in whatever car we can get, I don't care what it cost or how new it is, we will have our Bassett Hound and whatever little pets we want, and we will one day have children together. And that child will be so loved, I will move mountains for them to never experience pain and hurt of the likes we have experienced.

Things You Need To Know While Setting Up Your Plantation Aquarium
Tumblr media
When we think of a fish aquarium, we think of an artificial setup of marine world. But trending now is ‘plantation aquarium'! Every hobbyist has at least one plantation tank. The true aquarium hobby is about plantation aquariums. Plantation aquariums can thrive for many years if they are well maintained. Today, I'll show you how to create your own plantation aquarium. These are some tips to help you set up your aquarium.
The Right Tank
Buying the right tank is essential. Choose a glass tank over a fiber one. While the shape of your tank will depend on what you choose, the size of your tank is important. There are many factors that influence the tank size. The first is space available. You need to determine how much space you have in your room to accommodate the tank. It also depends on the fish you are adding to your tank. It is important to understand the potential growth rate of any fish that you add to your tank. This will ensure that it does not face space problems when it grows up.
For example, molly fish can grow to 1-1.5 inches. Therefore, you can keep 4-5 Mollies in one foot tank. Goldfish, on the other hand, can grow upto 4-5 inches. Only 2-3 goldfish can be kept in a 1 foot tank. Keep in mind that the size of your tank is important for your fish's growth. Fish will stop growing if they are kept in smaller tanks.
You will also need a taller tank if you have fish like the 'Angels' that grow in length instead of height.
Soil
Your plantation aquarium's foundation is soil. It determines the growth of your plants. It is crucial to select the right soil for your tank. Soil is an investment in your aquarium. Don't be afraid to pay more.
Best quality soils are of the ADA's Aquasoil Amazonia, which are available online. Your aquarium will thrive if it has the best soil possible. It is important that your soil has enough nutrients to support plant growth. The nutrient content of soil will determine how big your plants grow.
Plants
Your plants are the most important part. In a plantation aquarium, plants are as important as fish and choosing right plants is important. You must first decide which plant species you want to keep. There are many types of plants: some are submerged, others are floating and some are carpet.
Carpet plants are the best option for your aquarium. They will conceal the soil and give it a natural look. These include micro sword, drawf hair grass, Drawf sag and Drawf sag.
Submerged plants are very important and essential. These include Moneywort, Pygmy Chain sword, Anubias and many others.
If you have baby fish, such as hornwort or other species, floating plants can be used. You should also rinse the plants after you add them to your tank. Plants can be a source of parasites and pest snails.
Driftwood
Driftwood is an important component of a plantation aquarium. Without driftwood, a plantation aquarium would be incomplete. Driftwood is actually a piece or pieces of wood that are kept in aquariums to give them a natural appearance. There are many types of driftwood available, including Bogwood, Sumatran and Mopani. You have the freedom to choose! However, you must ensure that you know for sure if the driftwood is of high quality.
Aquarium Equipment
Aquarium equipment is essential for aquariums. Here's a list of equipment you should have.
- Air pump.
An aquarium pump is not necessary as the plants can produce it. However, at night, the process reverses and plants release CO2 which can cause fish to drown. It is better to have one.
- CO2 diffuser
A CO2 diffuser is essential if you plan to grow many exotic plants in your tank. This adds CO2 into the tank.
- Aquarium light.
An aquarium light is essential. This will allow plants to photosynthesise. You should keep the light on for at least 5-6 hours per day.
Filter
A good hang-on filter is a great choice for your tank and essential for any plantation aquarium.
Fish
Proper planning is essential when adding fish to a plantation aquarium. The basic layout of the species should be clear, such as having some algae eaters, mid-dwellers and surface dwellers. These aquariums can also be stocked with shrimps. Your aquarium will be lively with a few snails (not pest snails), a few shrimps, and lots fish.
Many fish species can be kept indoors in plantation aquariums. However, many fish species such as the Goldfish cannot be kept in plantation aquariums. They will pull down the plants and then eat them. Be sure to verify the fish you purchase. A few fish that eat plants can decimate a whole plantation. Parrot fish will uproot any plant they see.
All types of Tetras and Cichlids can be kept in plantation aquariums. Small-mouthed fish are generally kept in plantation aquariums so that they don't have to uproot the plants. These fish are all schooling fish so you will need to add 10-20 fish from one species.
These are some simple tips to help you create your plantation aquarium. We hope you found this article useful and we wish you a successful start to your plantation aquarium. Remember to be patient when building a plantation tank. Although it can seem messy at first, once it is completed, the aquarium will function as an ecosystem.

Day 4: A Morning in Husavik and An Afternoon in the Waterfalls of the Northeastern Highlands
Another morning, another late start. Though this time, it was a last minute, unplanned decision because of how tired Cynthia and I were. But once we were up, we quickly got ready, ate some breakfast, and drove back to Husavik where we spent the morning.
Since my last visit to Husavik, not much had changed in town (as far as I noticed) despite how wildly popular the Netflix original movie Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga was. So as we walked around, we took in the small town scenes and leisurely explored the waterside town of Husavik. We briefly strolled around the harbor under the cloudy skies before stopping to peek inside a souvenir shop on the edge of the harbor.
There, while looking around the shop, we briefly met Abba (sp?) and her sister who own the shop. Because I was interested in their take on Eurovision and was curious as to how the movie affected the town and businesses in Husavik, I struck up a conversation with Abba to ask her those questions. What was a simple starting question ended up being a nice conversation with an Icelandic local.
Abba told me how she thought the movie was accurate in a lot of the ways it portrayed things and stereotypes regarding Icelanders and how it was better than she expected. She also talked about the movie shooting, the actors that she saw around town, and the role some of her family members played in the movie and Oscars music video that was filmed here for the song “Husavik”. For example, her granddaughter was picked to be in the children’s choir that accompanied My Marianne (Molly Sanden) in her Oscars performance. And her daughter was picked to be an extra in the film. Abba was so excited talking about her family’s role that I could tell she was very proud of them. After talking for a bit about the movie’s influence on the town, she took me outside and quickly showed me some of the locations that were used in the film, like the building that served as the Jaja Ding Dong Bar, the bus stop where Lars and Sigrit were dropped off after their Eurovision performances, the house where Lars lived, and the harbor area where the children’s choir performed. What a great conversation I had that allowed me to gain local insights and perspectives into Husavik!
After taking a photo of the shop owners and bidding them a farewell and thank you, we continued our stroll through town and checked out the local Eymundsson bookstore and the picturesque and iconic Husavikurkirkja, Husavik’s wooden church. Cynthia, Minh, and I briefly walked inside and around the church before walking back out to meet my parents.
By this point, people were getting hungry so we decided to eat in Husavik instead of waiting to get back to Akureyri. After briefly scrolling through TripAdvisor and the streets for food options, we decided to stop to eat at Salka, a restaurant located near the harbor and right on the main street running through Husavik. And Salka was a great choice because the food was delicious and the weather outside was fantastic for spacious outdoor dining. We ordered four dishes for the family and the dishes were tiger prawns with risotto and salad, a fried shrimp main course with creole rice and veggies, ling (the fish of the day) served with mash potatoes, rice, and roasted veggies, and a seafood soup starter with shrimp and mussels in a creamy tomato base. The hot food was so flavorful and so delicious! So very good!
We headed out of town and back home once lunch was over to drop Cynthia off for work. We didn’t stop at home for very long before continuing our day sans Cynthia. The next stop was Aldeyjarfoss, located right off of the F26, one of Iceland’s highland mountain roads that require you to have a 4WD car in order to drive on the road. Aldeyjarfoss was located about a 1h20m drive from Akureyri and getting to the waterfall itself required that we drive on a dirt gravel road for a while before starting the F-road section of the drive. Luckily for us, the drive on the dirt gravel road was as smooth as it could be in our Kia Sportage and we zoomed down the road at a safe 100kph with barely anyone else on the road with us. Eventually, we arrived at the section of the road where I wasn’t quite sure if we’d be able to drive any further given that F26 around this area was supposedly closed based on the government maps online. But not seeing any road closure-specific signs or chains blocking the way, we continued on up the now-rougher mountain road until we reached the Aldeyjarfoss parking lot where one other car was parked.
The wind was blowing hard and crazily when we exited our car to hike 10-15 minutes down to see the waterfall. Because of the conditions and her knee, my mom stayed in the car and skipped out on the hike down. So my brother, dad, and I hiked down the dirt path toward Aldeyjarfoss. Once I started hiking down, my right heel started acting up again but I dealt with the pain and continued onwards until I got down to the waterfall. My dad didn’t actually make it all the way down and, instead, saw the waterfall from a windy distance before turning back to the car to shelter himself from the dusty gusts.
It took some time for me to get to the waterfall viewing spot but eventually, I made it to Aldeyjarfoss. The views of the waterfall rushing over the edge of the cliff lined with basalt columns was beautiful and extraordinary. However, given the mid-afternoon sun and lighting, the views were less picturesque than I had hoped for. Regardless, it was a stunning sight and worth the trip out after missed opportunities on previous Iceland trips.
I spent less time than originally expected at Aldeyjarfoss before heading back to the car. With plenty of time and afternoon sunlight left to enjoy, we continued two kilometers further up into the highlands on F26 toward the only other stop we could get to in this specific area (because we finally found the road closure sign chained across the road): the waterfall Hrafnabjargafoss.
Hrafnabjargafoss was a super cool waterfall located off the main F26 and right after a stretch of very rocky side road. It took some slow, careful driving to get the car safely out to a parkable area of dirt next to the waterfall but eventually we made it. The views of the waterfall were spectacular, grand, and so very different from the ones we got at Aldeyjarfoss. What a hidden gem! My dad, Minh, and I wandered around the waterfall taking photos of the waterfall and each other before we finally headed back to the car to make our way back to Akureyri for an early dinner, a first for this trip.
We made a short gas and car washing stop on the way back home before finally arriving at the AirBnB, where we got started on cooking our homemade dinner to try and use up as much of our leftover ingredients as possible to avoid having to lug it with us to our next destination on the east coast tomorrow. With all of our leftovers, I was able to concoct a pretty good mi xao (fried egg noodle) dish, which included sausage/ham, scrambled eggs, egg noodles, spinach, bell peppers, onions, and carrots, for the family to enjoy. It was a pretty good meal despite being the result of a simple goal of finishing up leftovers!
After finishing dinner and watching some soccer, we all left home and walked to get ice cream nearby at Ísbúðin Akureyri. The shop was poppin’ with people at 10pm with tons of people lined up for a late night treat. And I could see why with all the options they had in terms of ice cream, soft serve, shakes, and toppings. So many options! I ended up buying a cone of vanilla soft serve topped with oreos and crunch sphere things. And it was really good! Once everyone received their orders and had enjoyed half of their ice creams at the tables outside the shop, we walked briefly around downtown Akureyri before heading back home, with Cynthia and I taking a different path home in order to show Cynthia more of Akureyri.
By the time Cynthia and I arrived home, the sun was starting to set slowly in the sky but the night was still young. With a potentially beautiful sunset on tap for the evening, Minh and I left the AirBnB to drive north toward the town of Laufas with the goal of finding some random but unique photo opportunities along the way. During our thirty minute drive out of town, we found two photogenic scenes to stop at, the first being a sun-glazed pasture where some horses were wandering around and grazing and the second being a stretch of road lined with lupines with the sun setting in the distance. Despite two stops, it was hard to find the right photo opps on our brief excursion and after an hour or so out and about, we turned back and called it a night, knowing that there would be a long day ahead tomorrow with our trip from Akureyri to Seyðisfjörður.
5 Things I Learned/Observed Today:
1. There are approximately 2500 people who live in Husavik. And even in a small town like Husavik, the people here didn’t get star-struck or bat an eye when celebrities (namely Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams) hit the streets of town to shoot a movie. They just go on living their normal, Icelandic lives on the north shore.
2. According to the gift shop owner Abba, not much has changed in Husavik (like travel traffic, tourists, restaurants to feed tourists) since the filming and release of Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga in 2020. That is mostly because of the way that the pandemic limited international travel to Iceland and Husavik. But something that the film and resulting Oscars nomination performance did bring to town was the start of a new children’s choir, something Husavik didn’t have prior to the Oscars performance and something the kids in town are really excited about!
3. In Iceland, car washing is important because of the crazy weather conditions that can cake volcanic ash, dust, dirt, etc, onto your car. And you can see the emphasis that is placed on car washing in Iceland when you stop by certain gas stations. Some gas stations provide big free-to-use broom brushes with a hole in the middle of the bristles where water from a water hose flows out of that is used to wash your car! It’s an incredible and ingenious contraption that makes the squeegees of America look primitive and caveman-ish. We should have these broom brushes in Los Angeles for sure! If you saw it and had a dirty car, wouldn’t you want to use it too? Oh, the satisfaction in rinsing off all that crap from your car!
4. So, how do you know if certain F roads are closed at certain times of the year? Check out www.road.is for the most up-to-date information on road closures and driving conditions. Sometimes, even the maps on there are hard to figure out and you’re not quite sure if things are open or closed based on how things are labeled. Fear not, if an F road is closed and not driveable, there should be chained signs at certain points along the road that block access to those not-yet-driveable sections of F roads (at least, that’s what it looked like on F26). I learned this first hand on the way to Aldeyjarfoss and Hrafnabjargafoss.
5. Driving can sometimes be kind of crazy in Iceland with two-lane highways and people speeding along the road when they’re in the middle of nowhere. With so many sheep  grazing close to the roads and not necessarily protected behind wired fences, it’s incredible not to see more dead sheep road kill in Iceland! Maybe it’s because we see them from a distance and we expect them and look for them to cross the road all the time. What’s even crazier, though, is that there are way more roadkill birds in Iceland (along our drive, at least) compared to dead sheep or dead any other animal. That’s incredibly weird!

Betta chatting at petco
Yesterday when I was oogling the bettas at Petco this older lady came up and asked me how many I had .I proceeded to have a conversation with her about housing bettas.
She told me she had three boys and one girl that she had them all in those little square containers and she was thinking about getting another betta girl as a companion fish for the one girl that she had.
I talked to her about my sorority and about female aggression towards each other and convinced her that molly or platy would be a better idea if she really wanted another couple fish in the tank with the female.
We chatted about betta personalities and I told her about how much more livelier they are when they have space and heaters and filters and she was quite glad about all the information I was telling her and just that I was sitting there and chatting with her for a while.
She ended up buying two five gallon tanks at the time since I told her how much space my fish each have. She also commented on how one of those five and a half gallon tanks cost just as much as one of those tiny little decorative Square prison cells.
She also told me how one of her boys always floated on his side and she would tap the glass to tell him it was time to eat and then he go back to floating. I told her that was swim bladder disorder and she didn’t know that so she got some aquarium salt and I told her to check it out online and she could help him get better.
It was really fun to talk to this lady about bettas and helping to improve the lives of her fish. I helped her in improving the lives of her fishy friends l.

Top 10 Highest Rated Fish Food Reviewed & Compared 2020 | Pet Food
If you want your fish food to enjoy living in the aquarium and thrive then you need to give them the best fish food you can afford. This is basic biology (and common sense), and it’s perhaps one of the first things people learn about keeping any sort of pet (except if you have a pet rock, but then that’s a different thing entirely!). If you’re a newbie, you better stick to freshwater fish first because they’re easier to handle, before you start with saltwater tanks. So you can start with old-time favorites like a betta, goldfish, or guppies. You get Cichlids like tilapia or Oscars. Neon tetras, catfish, and mollies are cool too. Whatever you get, you better know what kind of fish food brand to buy. You can’t just buy the cheapest fish food pellets when your fish specifically needs tropical fish food. 1. TetraMin Tropical Flakes Fish Food It comes in several sizes, so you can take your pick. As the name says, this is best for tropical freshwater fish. The TetraMin also contains the patented ProCare blend: Omega-3 fatty acid so that your fish gets healthy fat and they can grow bigger and have more energy, various ingredients that boost their immune system, and biotin to improve their metabolism.
Tumblr media
TetraMin
Tumblr media
Pros This German brand is a respected name in the industry. If you buy online, the price is much better. The food doesn’t cloud the water. It’s easily digested. It’s good for lots of tropical freshwater fish like goldfish. Cons There’s nothing really wrong with it, although a few contend that the quality of Tetra fish food was much better 20 years ago. 2. New Life Spectrum Naturox Thera-A Medium Sinking Pellet Fish Food You’re better off buying the 500 gram container, the 250 gram container is too expensive. There are also other pellet sizes aside from 2mm. New Life Spectrum (NLS) is also highly regarded in the industry, and their products contain garlic with lots of anti-parasitic ingredients.
Tumblr media
Naturox Thera-A
Tumblr media
Many fish owners admit to only using this product (along with frozen food) to feed their fish. Pros The price for the 500-gram container is a bargain. It’s loved by many types of fish, including lyretail and fancy guppies, bala sharks, African cichlids, featherfin and angelicus catfish, emerald and panda coris, weather and clown loaches, and several types of gourami. Even the ghost shrimp and the fiddler crabs can’t get enough of it.It comes with a clearly marked 2 year expiration date. Cons There are only two size options. 3. Hikari Fancy Guppy Livebearers Fish Food These come in different colors denoting different ingredients. Red means it contains protein and amino acids, yellow means vitamins and minerals, and green is vegetable fiber. It’s supposed to be semi-floating, for surface and mid-water feeders.
Tumblr media
Hikari Fancy Guppy
Tumblr media
This is designed for small-mouth tropical fish like tetras and barbs. Owners of cardinals, fancy guppies, and shrimp say their pets love them too. Pros Different nutrients are offered so that the fish gets a balanced diet.Quite a few fish love it. Cons It’s not quite as semi-floating as it ought to be. It may float on the surface for a while, but it won’t sink slowly for the mid-water feeders to enjoy. Instead, it gets to the bottom rather quickly. 4. Tetra PlecoWafers Complete Diet for Algae Eaters Fish Food This is a sinking wafer for tropical bottom feeders, and they contain vegetable nutrients as well as the ProCare blend. The pouch bag can stand up, and is resealable too. These are meant for herbivore fishes, such as goldfish, plecostomus, and corydoras catfish.
Tumblr media
Tetra PlecoWafers
Tumblr media
Pros The online price is much cheaper than in stores.Tetra is a famous brand name with a sterling reputation.Lots of herbivore fish really go for this stuff. Cons For a few fish, it may take a while before they deign to taste it if you’re introducing a new brand. One customer said that it clouded her fish tank water, although this seems like a very rare occurrence. 5. Zoo Med Spirulina 20 Fish Food This is fish flake food for everyday feeding, and it contains high levels of raw protein from spirulina. It’s meant for fresh and saltwater fish that needs regular protein. It also has lots of major vitamins and amino acids. This is designed for lots of fish types, both fresh and saltwater.
Tumblr media
Zoo Med Spirulina
Tumblr media
It’s great for African Cichlids, goldfish, Swordtails, Platies, Guppies, Mollies, Saltwater Angels and Tangs. For some reason the 2-ounce container costs almost the same as the 4-ounce! Pros The vast majority of owners who’ve tried it report that their fish loved it.The price is more than reasonable, especially when you consider that it lasts for quite a long while. Cons The flakes are large, and while that may be fine for some fish it may be too big for others. 6. Omega One Sinking Veggie Rounds Freshwater & Saltwater Fish Food  An 8.1-ounce container is rather odd, and it doesn’t make much sense when it’s in grams (230g) either. In any case, have a look at the price. As these are veggie fish food, these are for herbivores but they can be for salt and freshwater fish. They’re made with spirulina (which seems a popular ingredient) and fresh kelp.
Tumblr media
Omega One
Tumblr media
The manufacturer, Omega One, is actually one of just two companies in Alaska licensed to harvest fresh kelp along the southeast Alaskan shoreline. So they have stores of fresh kelp in stock, which explains why this food seem to have a deeper green color than another veggie (or kelp) products. This food is simply packed with nutrients, and Omega One has no reason to skimp on the ingredients. Pros Those who have reported that their fish loved it include owners of African cichlids, pleco, catfish, clown loaches, shrimp, and snails. They also report having healthy fish, too. Cons Just be careful where you buy them, because some sellers may offer bad samples. 7. Tetra Cichlid Flakes Cichlid Fish Food Once again we’re back to the reliable Tetra brand, and this time the food is for top and mid-water feeders. The 1.75-pound container (roughly 794 grams) is cheap, although you can first try the smallest 1.58-ounce (almost 45-gram) size to see if your fish takes the food.
Tumblr media
Tetra Cichlid
Tumblr media
This particular cichlids dish it’s enhanced with vitamin C and the ProCare blend. Its nutrients help boost the immune system of the fish so they’re more resistant to disease. Also, these flakes remain firm even when fish strike at them. They won’t disintegrate. Pros The price is more reasonable when you get the large 1.75-pound size. That’s because at that price it’s just a couple ¢ per gram, unlike the smallest size that costs much more. These flakes are large, and they’ll stay intact even when fish strike at them. Cons However, if you do get the large container, that’s going to take forever to finish off! 8. Tetra Cichlid Floating Cichlid Pellet Fish Food This is freeze-dried blood worms, which makes this the equivalent of prime 5-star rated restaurant steak while its competitors are fast food. This Bio-Pure is as close to being fresh food without actually being fresh food. So it really is a special treat.
Tumblr media
Tetra Cichlid
Tumblr media
Pros It is packed with nutrients. It’s the cleanest freeze dried food you can buy, prepared with pharmaceutical-grade freeze-drying techniques. It doesn’t cloud the water. The container comes with a nice dispenser top. Cons It’s really expensive, so it’s not exactly realistic to serve this on a daily basis.Freeze-dried food is dry, so they take the time to sink. If you want your bottom feeders to get a taste after the top feeders have had their share, you need to use tongs to bring it to them. You’ll also need to soak them first for a while in the aquarium water so that they’re easier to swallow. 9. Tetra JumboKrill Freeze-Dried Shrimp Freshwater & Saltwater Fish Food Tetra has its own freeze-dried offering, but this time it is jumbo shrimp. They’re ideal for large tropical fish and even hermit crabs and snowflake eels love it. It has the nutrients your fish needs to be healthy and to look healthy.
Tumblr media
Tetra JumboKrill
Tumblr media
Their colors can really improve with this food, as its ingredients include protein, fat, vitamin E, and carotenoids. The food can stay fresh for a long time, as it comes in vacuum-sealed containers. So go ahead and get the biggest size at 14 ounces, which comes with a cheap price tag. Pros For freeze-dried food, the price is remarkably affordable on a per gram basis. It can really brighten the color of the fish. 10. Tetra PRO PlecoWafers Complete Diet for Algae Eaters Fish Food The price per gram is astronomical. But it really is packed with proteins, essential fatty acids, and lipids which can really energize your fish and keep them healthy. You can use this to feed your tropical fish twice daily, and you just have to serve a sufficient amount they can eat within 3 minutes.
Tumblr media
Tetra PRO PlecoWafers
Tumblr media
You’ll have to remove any uneaten food as quickly as possible so that the water remains clear and fresh. Pros It’s extremely healthy for both fresh and saltwater fish. It’s a favorite food among many fish. Cons It’s quite expensive.A surprising number of aquarium keepers say that their fish ignore it.
Types of Fish Food
So what kind of fish food can you get? Actually, there are quite a few options. That’s understandable, since there lots of fish species you can keep, and some fish may not thrive with just the same food every time. (It’s probably like eating the world’s most incredible pizza—after a week of eating just that, even you’d rebel). The first type is dry fish food, and there are several varieties: Flakes: fish flake food is probably the most common option of them all, as pretty much all the common types of aquarium fish will go for it.Crisps: these crisps tend to float for a long period of time. So it’s more likely that the fish will get them before they fall uneaten to the bottom. They also tend to create less waste. These crisps are ideal for small to medium-sized fish.Granules: these also tend to sink very slowly to the ground, so it’s available to all the fish in the tank. They also come in bite-sized pieces to make them easier to consume.Tablets: these sink very quickly, so they’re ideal for the bottom-feeders like loaches and catfish.Wafers: these also sink quickly, but they’re a bit larger.Sticks: larger fish go for this type of food.Pellets: these float and you can get tiny ones for your bettas. There are also larger pellets for larger fish.Supplements and treats: these complement the main diet of the fish. Some types of fish food are designed as blocks, which are meant to be placed inside the aquarium to feed the fish for days on end. The blocks release just small amounts as they dissolve, so the fish can be fed for several days while the owner is on vacation. Some fish food types are frozen or freeze dried which may be necessary to preserve the protein and other nutrients. Then there are medicated fish food servings that deliver medication to the fish, without contaminating the water and environment like a bath treatment would do. And of course, you can also serve your fish earthworms from your garden or any live food.
Tumblr media
Drawbacks to Buying Online
Many newbies don’t like buying fish food online because they have to wait for the delivery and sometimes shipping comes with a fee as well. And you can’t get live food online. It can also be confusing to be confronted with so many options and so many reviews. Some beginners just consult their local pet store and get food recommendations from the seller. That makes everything faster and less confusing
Advantages of Buying Online
But there are advantages to buying online too. One main advantage is that online you can just about find any type of fish food except for live food. You’re not limited to what your local seller has in stock. You can buy any type of food including freeze-dried fish food or flakes, and it can be any size available. And what’s more, you’re also not limited to a single person’s recommendations. When you’re online, reviews are pretty much easily available on seller sites like Amazon. You’ll know what other owners have gone through so you know what to expect. You’ll know how many owners report that their fish liked it, and you’ll also find out just how often it’s been ignored by the fish. In some cases, you can get discounts when you buy online when you buy in bulk. So that means you won’t have to pay as much.
Tumblr media
Your best bet, if you’re looking online, is to read reviews so that you can get the comments of other customers who have the same fish as you do. It’s also a good idea to pick the food designed specifically for your fish. So if a fish food is branded as ideal for goldfish, then as a goldfish owner you can have it as one of your options. The Sprudge Guide To Animal Crossing Cafes
During a time where more of us are brewing from home, it’s easy to miss your favorite latte and bustling neighborhood cafe. The good news is that you can create a cafe or coffee bar in Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players are encouraged to use their creativity to design their own island. What feels like the perfect way to live out daily activities in the era of social distancing, the game’s expansive item list and DIY city planning is leading some to recreate their favorite cafe on their island.
Creating a cafe in Animal Crossing similar to real life: you will need to acquire equipment, seating, and decor. To acquire these items, you will need to spend some time playing the game. Finding cafe items (or any desired items) in the game takes time and sometimes, luck, but you can buy items at the island store, Nook’s Cranny, with “bells”, the in-game currency. Items like an espresso machine may be available at your store for purchase between 8am–10pm in real-time, but the colors may vary. So if you have to have the red machine that replicates your La Marzocco Linea Mini, you may have to do some waiting.
Different players have acces to different items in the store, which encourages playing online with your friends to see what their Nook’s Cranny has available. Earning bells in-game is simple, and can be managed by selling fish or insects to the Nook brothers, hitting the right couple of rocks, or being graced with the occasional yellow balloon flying overhead. Maybe all that tree shaking you’re doing will eventually pay off, too.
An Endgrain Coffee inspired cafe by Cassie Geary.
Players like Cassie Geary, 30, an Associate Director in Higher Education Fundraising in New Jersey, have fallen in love with the cafe portion of this game because they miss visiting their local coffee shop. “Now I can still visit some of my favorite stores all while following social distancing rules,” Geary tells Sprudge. But for many players, the funnest part is designing their own cafe. As in the real world, your cafe design options are endless, and so are the amount of times you’ll move your coffee grinder to fit perfectly on the wooden table you just crafted.
During a time where movement is limited, in-game cafes are allowing players to virtually socialize and sip on pixelated coffee. It’s fun, and comforting. For new Animal Crossing players and seasoned farmers alike, today we’re featuring five of our favorite virtual cafes and their creators in this Animal Crossing island cafe guide. You might not be able to hang out in a real cafe right now, but you can hang out in these cafes.
“Starbucks” Themed Cafe
Designed to mimic the warm interiors of a stand-alone store, this “Starbucks” themed cafe looks and feels like the real deal. Located on Bacon Egg Island, the indoor cafe is adorned with wooden counters and seating, as well as custom made menus. Owner Bacon runs the cafe out of their home and offers villagers classics such as espresso, coffee, tea, and yes, even Frappuccino drinks.
Everything from the Via Instant bags on merchandise shelves, the spilled coffee cup, and employee uniforms were created using the Pro Editor app in the game. Nintendo online members can save the custom designs using Bacon’s creator code, MA-7390-0438-9100.
The “Starbucks” Themed Cafe was created by Mandy Hui playing as “Bacon”. The cafe is located on Bacon Egg Island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Follow them on Instagram.
  Momentos Island Cafe
Momentos Island Cafe offers guests a quiet place to relax after a day at the island amusement park situated next door.
Visitors come for the coffee and craft matcha lattes, but stay for the thoughtfully curated music playlist and peaceful location. Food options include wood-fired pizza for those looking to fill up before returning home. Occasionally, you may be treated to a saxophone solo from one of the local villagers if you encourage them. Owner Anna Molly also offers tours of Momentos Island.
Momentos Island Cafe was created by Anna Molly playing as “Anna Molly.” The cafe is located on Momentos Island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Follow them on YouTube.
  Morning Heaven
With a name like Morning Heaven, this coffee shop attracts locals and tourists alike. The outside cafe has the best view of the nearby waterfall adding to the serene element of Morning Heaven.
Resident representative and owner Lena designed the cafe to mirror the Japanese decor found on Heaven Island. Just steps away from the island’s zen garden, museum, and beach, guests can enjoy hand-poured lattes, macchiatos, espresso, and fresh pastries and crepes.
Morning Heaven was created by Lena Engel playing as “Lena”. The cafe is located on Heaven Island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Follow them on Instagram.
  The Hive
The Hive brings French cafe classics to Bonheur Island. Similar to plazas found in Europe, the cafe is easily accessible from the island’s main shopping plaza and museum.
Owner Blight makes all espresso-based drinks on the cafe’s single yellow espresso machine. The Hive makes for the perfect place to sip on a latte while taking in your surroundings. Menu items include loose-leaf tea, coffee, kombucha, and light fares such as sandwiches and pastries.
The Hive was created by Joshua R. playing as “Blight”. The cafe is located on Bonheur Island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Follow them on Instagram.
  P I N K Cafe
Cherry Pie Island is brewing up an all candy-colored menu at P I N K Cafe. This Instagram-worthy cafe made its debut on the island recently and has become already well-known for its unique pink drinks and pastries.
Jade Shi is the cafe’s owner and menu curator. “It’s really simple since I’m obsessed with the color,” she tells me. “Everything has to be pink.” From “sakura” (cherry blossom) lattes to fresh strawberry milk and pink pastries topped with pink buttercream, there’s no shortage of the rosy hue here.
