christmas shopping.ᐟ

ʚɞ a december to remember
𖢔 notes: oh em gee I absolutely love love love this and am super proud of it + interact
── .✦ advent .ᐟ
summary: you make a skeptically Rafe go out Christmas shopping with you to buy others presents and he strangely realises how much he’s willing to do what you want at just a smile
ᯓᡣ𐭩
Rafe wasn’t quite sure how he ended up here—standing in the middle of a store, rocking back and forth on his heels like a lost puppy, staring up at the harsh, fluorescent lights above him with an exaggerated sigh. He was sure he was about to die of boredom. But then again, he couldn’t exactly blame you. After all, you had asked him with that smile—that smile, the one that always made him drop whatever he was doing and follow you, no questions asked.
Meanwhile, you were practically glowing with excitement, bouncing from one store to the next in your cosy winter gear, clearly in your element. The joy in your eyes was enough to make Rafe feel like he was part of something important, even if it did involve a never-ending parade of stores down the high street. You were on a mission: finding the perfect Christmas gifts for everyone you loved. And you were dragging him along for the ride.
At least, Rafe thought, he was picking up a few hints about what to get you. Every time you stopped to admire something—whether it was a pink heart-shaped necklace, a shiny digital camera, a couple of books that already slipped his mind, a coffee machine (as if he wasn’t already perfect at making it for you), or one of those cute Jellycat plush toys—your eyes would light up in that unmistakable way. Maybe, just maybe, he could use this to his advantage. Though, to be honest, he'd probably need to pay more attention if he didn’t want to mess it up.
Right now, you were crouched down in Sephora, your hand an explosion of swatches, each one more colourful than the last, as you searched for the perfect shade of lip gloss for one of your best friends’ Christmas gifts. Rafe stood a few steps away, trying his best to look uninterested, but the sight of you so focused—your brows furrowed in that adorable, determined way—was making it hard to pretend he wasn’t entertained.
He thought it couldn’t get any more ridiculous… until you stood up and flashed him that cheeky grin.
“Hold your hand out,” you said, your tone half-innocent, half-mischievous.
He immediately bristled. “Why? Don’t put that sh—”
“Please?” You didn’t even need to finish the sentence before he was holding his hand out like a total sucker, already knowing this was a battle he wasn’t going to win.
And then—ugh—something slimy tickled his skin as you applied the gloss to the back of his hand, your eyes narrowing as you studied it intently. He silently prayed for it to be over quickly.
And then—thank God—you seemed satisfied.
“This is the one,” you declared, practically bouncing on your feet as you grabbed his hand and pulled him toward the counter, a triumphant gleam in your eyes. You paid no attention to his protests as you handed the gloss to the cashier, practically squealing with excitement as you watched the purchase happen.
Before you could even protest, though, Rafe was already pulling out his American Express, swiping it without a second thought.
You shot him an exaggerated pout. “Rafe, you didn’t—”
But before you could finish, he smirked at you, clearly pleased with himself, and tapped his card one last time.
In return?—well, you had your own currency that was reserved for Rafe, and to him, a million times more valuable than money, so you planted a quick, cheeky kiss on his cheek, the kind that made his stomach flip and his ego soar.
You tug him into yet another store, chattering away with that bright, playful energy of yours. "I need to get something for my college professor," you explain, and Rafe blinks, a little confused. "This is so weird," he mutters, because he remembers when he was in college—he never cared about buying professors gifts. But then again, you're you, and you're sweeter than sugar, so of course, you're doing this.
So here he is, trailing behind you as you drag him from one candle display to the next. You're holding up all sorts of scents, urging him to smell each one, and—honestly—most of them don't even smell that great. Rafe barely even takes a deep breath. He just nods along, trying to keep up with your excitement, until—finally—he sees the one that makes your eyes light up.
"That’s it, isn’t it?" he asks, grinning. You nod eagerly, and before you can say another word, he's already at the counter, paying for it like it's the most natural thing in the world.
"It's perfect," he says with a shrug, but you can tell he's secretly pleased—because if it makes you happy, then it's totally worth it.
The rest of the shopping trip was a blur of you dragging him from one store to the next while he sighed dramatically, pretending to be annoyed. The truth, though, was that his ego was practically inflating every time he’d swipe his card to cover whatever you picked out. Whatever the “nonsense” was—he was more than happy to pay for it, followed by his smug smile.
And now, with bags in hand, you two were walking back to the car, your arm snugly looped through his, your head resting contentedly on his shoulder as you both made your way through the crisp evening air. You insisted on carrying at least one bag, and of course, he gave you the lightest one—as if he’d let you carry anything else.
But as you snuggled closer to him, your lips curving up into that sweet smile, Rafe didn’t mind the bags—or the chaos of the day—one bit. In fact, he thought this might just be his favourite part of Christmas shopping.
As Rafe carefully piled your shopping bags into the trunk of his sleek SUV, he couldn’t shake the warm, fuzzy feeling spreading through him. There was something about today—the bustle of Christmas shopping, the way you lit up over every little thing, the soft laughter that echoed between the aisles—that made his chest feel a little fuller, like he was exactly where he was supposed to be.
Sliding into the driver’s seat, he stole a glance at you in the passenger seat. You looked so effortlessly gorgeous, your head tilted just slightly, eyes sparkling with that mischievous, contented glint. Honestly? It felt like an angel had settled right next to him.
You caught his gaze, your lips curling into a grin. “I’ve had the best day,” you said, your voice soft and sincere. “I love you.”
Rafe’s heart did a little flip. Without thinking, he leaned across the seat, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips, and pressed his own against yours in a tender kiss. It was one of those quiet moments that felt like it could stretch on forever, where the world outside seemed to pause just for a beat.
“Mhm,” he murmured against your lips as he pulled away just slightly, his hand still resting near your cheek. “It’s been better than I thought.”
He paused for a beat, his eyes twinkling with something unreadable. He didn’t just mean the shopping, though he’d never admit it out loud. Truthfully, it wasn’t the endless bags or the crowded stores that made his heart swell. It was this—you—right here beside him, the way you made every moment feel special, even the simplest ones. And that? That was worth more than any gift or shiny new lip gloss.

Midnight Pals: Sunsweet Prunes
Ray Bradbury: submitted for the approval of the midnight society, i call this the tale of the lazy summer of youth Bradbury: long days down by the river, fishing in miller's pond, afternoons at the soda shop, ice cream sundaes with fabulous unicorn worlds built of whipped cream, nickels for a dime Bradbury: and becky miller's freckled-face kisses Bradbury: sweeter than sunsweet prunes
Bradbury: sunsweet prunes, i tell you Bradbury: the only prune that's sweeter than a nostalgic midwestern childhood Bradbury: and they come in these little individually wrapped plastic packs too King: Poe: Barker: Koontz: Lovecraft: Bradbury: I just think they're neat
Bradbury: according to my stories, in the far distant future of 2001 Bradbury: we shall travel in tubes Bradbury: we'll have flying cars Bradbury: and we'll all be eating our sunsweet prunes out of individually wrapped plastic packs Poe: wait you never said that in your stories Bradbury: i wish i had Bradbury: i would have been 1 for 3 at least
Bradbury: look, they individually wrap these sunsweet prunes in plastic Bradbury: what a world! Bradbury: its like living in the not too distant future Poe: doesn't that create a lot of waste Bradbury:
Bradbury: tearing open this individually wrapped snack pack reminds me of tearing open presents on christmas morning, snow on the ground, ma and pa taking the day off from working the farm, the whole family arriving in a caravan of automobiles, aunts and uncles and cousins by the dozen, oh my! oh my! uncles a little too loud after three egg nogs, cousins playing cops & robbers in the hay loft
Bradbury: and the feasting, the jollity! too many voices all at once, raised in laughter, in song. the twinkle in dad's eye, the red roses in mom's cheeks, grandpa's baritone chuckle. falling asleep to the sounds of bing crosby on the tombstone radio, surrounded by the warm glow of early evening King: wow these prunes sound pretty incredible King: i'm sold! Koontz: [tearing open sunsweet prune container] guys Koontz: i think my prunes are broken Koontz: i didn't feel any of that stuff ray said
Poe: ray are they paying you to advertise for prunes Bradbury: no no of course not! Bradbury: i would never accept money to tell you about the incredible health benefits of america's favorite prunes, sunsweet Bradbury: full of 12 different antioxidents King: can i buy them with my american express card
Neil Gaiman: but ray! Gaiman: using the limitless vista of your inpirational mind to advertise a mere consumer good Gaiman: such a tawdry use of the gift of imagination! Gaiman: it cheapens us as writers just as the low low prices of chipotle cheapens organic rice and GMO-free beans to bring wholesome healthy Mexican inspired fusion cuisine to the masses
Gaiman: you can't leash the phoenix of creativity to the millstone of commerce! Gaiman: she must fly free! Gaiman: free like the secret dragon sauce available now at now extra charge at your local chipotle King: neil's right! Poe: about chipotle? King: about everything!!

sheer lace pt. 2: toto wolff
the series where the reader takes the romantic interest(s) lingerie shopping
series masterlist
“Can I interest you in-” he looked up to read the name of the store, “Agent Provocateur?” Toto managed to play his surprise off cool but you caught the subtle shift in his tone. He wanted to shower you with anything you could have without you asking for it, offering to lead you into any store the two of you walked by. He wanted to take care of you whenever he could afford the time to. You’d often rejected his advances, for he gifted you anything you needed anyways, but this time, you raised your eyebrow and smiled coyly, “sounds good.” His possessive arm snaked around your side from its place in the small of your back and you were led into the store, Ttoto holding the door open for you. Quite the collection had accumulated on Toto’s arm as the two of browsed what was on display. “Don’t be shy schatz, pick more,” he whispered into your ear lowly, you sighed at the warm feeling that spread around your lower stomach, “I’m going to tear them off of you anyway.” “Believe me,” you turned to him and pressed the front your body against his and leaned into his ear, standing on your tippy toes, or tried to, in your heels, “I’m looking forward to it.” “Why don’t we get going and then you can be a good girl show me now, hmm?” You could see past the suggestion to know that it was an order, but were you ever a good girl? “Maybe I’ll choose some more, huh? Because you keep tearing them and all,” you replied, almost purring. Two could play at this game. Toto plucked the garment you had in your hand, slinging onto the collection on his arm, “Don’t be shy darling, take your time.” You did, and you tried on everything in the fitting room, twirling, playing with your hair, batting your lashes, even a mini lap dance and striptease, the whole nine yards. Toto, as composed as ever, remained stoic, concealing any crack. Toto handed his card to the cashier, American express black, of course, and swept up your bags. He walked you to his car with no offer to enter any other store on the walk there. You didn’t offer either. The teasing and the anticipation had made you very desperate, you had to pretend to not rub your thighs together in the store. Toto noticed, of course. He noticed everything about you. You just wanted to get home for your punishment to come. “In the car, now.” Toto opened the passenger door for you and wrestled the assorted shopping bags into the trunk then drove the two of you home, his hand disappeared up your skirt, dangerously close to where you needed him the most, but gripped your thigh so hard you were sure it was going to bruise. The only noise in the car was the slight rumble of the engine and the traffic around it. Nothing had to be said, both passengers knew what was coming ahead. The bags fell on the marble floor of the entryway in your shared home, you stood in your place, buzzing with excitement as you looked up at Toto as he tossed the keys into the dish littered with mail and coins and removed his coat. You both knew what you were doing: awaiting order. “On our bed, all fours, now. And keep the lace.” He ordered. “Make me.” Oh, he did, by pulling you over his very toned shoulder. You came 7 times that night, one for every set you bought. “Told you I’d rip it off of you.” “Looks like we’ll have to go back to buy more.”

Christmas Bingo Card 2024: Surprise Gift - Joe Velasco x Reader
Tagging: @kmc1989 @plaidbooks @witches-unruly-heart @storiesofsvu @rosaliedepp

The squad room is quiet when Joe gets in. The brightly coloured lights along the bank of glass panels twinkle in the dimness of the office, an attempt by Curry to inject a little holiday spirit into a place where people come at the worst time of their lives.
When he gets to his desk, he doesn’t expect to find a neatly wrapped gift sitting upon it. The paper is forest green, his favourite colour. The corkscrewed ribbon a glossy gold.
It must be a mistake, he thinks but then he picks up the tag and it’s his name written on it in your pretty italic scrawl. There’s an ache in his chest because he remembers that conversation in the car during a stakeout a couple of days ago.
“I don’t do gifts.” He’d told you as you were sorting the skittles on the dashboard. You always separate out the yellow ones from all the others because you know they’re his favourite.
“Giving them or receiving them?” You ask him half serious and Joe doesn’t respond. He just stares out the window, his gaze firmly fixed on the building in front of him.
“Oh.” You say and his jaw tightens. “Has it always been that way?”
“For the past couple of years.” He concedes and it breaks your fucking heart to imagine him with nothing to open on Christmas Day, thinking that no one cares about him. “It’s not a big deal."
But it is, to you it’s a big fucking deal.
When he removes the paper, he’s surprised to find a watch box amongst wrapping. His mouth turns dry as he opens it. It’s a practical time piece, something that closely resembles an Omega De Ville Prestige but a fraction of the cost. The face is white with a silver rim and gold numbers, the strap made of brown leather. When he removes it from the box, he can feel something etched into the metal on the back. When he turns it over he sees his name engraved on to the silver plate, not his American name, his real one.
Jose.
He can’t express in that moment how much this gift means to him. It’s not just a watch, it’s a symbol of your partnership, the affection you have for one another.
He thinks about the message he got from you this morning.
Come over after your shift, help me with the left overs my mom makes me bring home.
He hadn’t responded, he thought it must come from a place of pity but now when he looks down at the watch he knows that it comes from a place of love.
He withdraws his phone from the pocket of his biker jacket, his thumb typing out a message.
That offer still open?
He sees the three dots and his heart beats a little faster in chest.
Always, you tell him. You’re always welcome.

ok so i was thinking and what if you were a total newbie to the spiderman thing and you got sent to miles’ world?
i offer, miles morales x reader and plenty of fluff
This was all a mess, one giant mess, and you were practically minutes, if not seconds, away from breaking down in the middle of this street. You speedwalk through the crowds in what you assume to be some American state. Almost every passerby stares at your attire, the strange colours of your eyes, and even the colour of your hair. Down to your shoes, you were different from all of them, and you couldn't even blame them for staring.
You were fine, well, not really, but you were somewhat comfortable before the world started shifting around you. As in literally. Tables appeared out of nowhere, your couch went, bursts of colour contaminated your dull room, and soon there was an opening in your wall, a magnetic force dragging you towards it. You couldn't fight it, no, it was nearly impossible, and before you knew what had happened, you were thrown harshly against the wall of a building before slumping into an alleyway dumpster.
What hurt you the most was the giant billboard commemorating a man, someone who seemed to be a superhero of a sort. It wasn't someone you knew, no, but in this strange world, something about him stood out. Somehow you managed to trace your way over to the graveyard, snow falling all around as your heart drops, seeing the grave and the gifts and flowers swamping it. Knee-deep in the snow, you let your hand run across the card’s left, little kid’s scribbles, and even his own wife’s messages to him. His eyes spoke to you, an understanding in them that seemed to resonate through you even as the snow seeped in through your clothes.
Or maybe that wasn't him you were sensing.
Your head flips around, only to notice another boy, similar to your age, standing right behind you. He seems just as startled as you were, eyes widened and his hands clutching his hooded jacket tight.
“You.. I feel weirdly connected to you.” You stammer it out, steadying yourself to a stand, hands trembling from fear and the snow that falls around you. “W-who are you?”
The boy sighs, tightening the hood over his head as he averts his gaze for a moment. “Relax. I’m, uh.. Miles Morales. I’m like you— y’know, the whole Spider-Man thing..”
You just blink at him confused, staring down at the grave behind you and then up to him again. “Spider-Man? Isn’t that.. this guy..? “
“Yes, but you are too. I mean, we both just sensed each other.” Miles groans a little, wondering if you’re just avidly trying to get on his nerves when he’s in a bad mood already.
“Who even is this Spiderman guy anyway— some sort of.. vigilante?” This time Miles blinks at you, and his annoyance falters when he realises you’re being entirely genuine. Despite him sensing the same genes that run through him too, you’ve never heard of Spiderman in your entire life.
“Let me guess, you suddenly got thrown into this city, yes?” You nod along, fingers tightening around the hem of your jacket nervously. “And you got bitten by a radioactive spider recently?” At that, your eyes practically turn into saucers, staring at him like he had read your mind. “Yes— wait, how did you know? Did the same thing happen to you recently?”
It’s clear what’s happening here, that you’re practically at the beginning of the supposed Spiderman journey, only having just been bitten. It shocks him a little, expecting all the other spider-people to be experienced already— especially since the ones he had just met all are. Eventually, he settled on buying you a hot drink to stop you from completely freezing over before taking you to his uncle’s apartment to lay low for the time being. He watches as you pull away your badly stitched mask, a meek expression on your tear stained face, eyes puffy and red rimmed.
“Come, sit.”
He leads you to the couch, and you follow, knees pressed together as you sit beside him.
“So, there are parallel universes that have another version of me? And they’re always crime fighting vigilantes?” Worry flashes over your features, that anxiety from being in a foreign place only worsening now with the sudden weight of responsibility. His brows knit together, not wanting to make you feel worse, but it is the truth. Though perhaps he shouldn’t even be telling you all of this and forcing you to work it out on your own—they always say to never mess with the timeline in time traveller movies. Not like he’d actually listen to those rules anyway.
“It’s hard to believe.. I know. You just need to learn how to use the webs and your spidey sense or any other quirks you may have.” You tilt your head at the last part, curious. “Quirks?”
“Well, I can turn invisible and do this cool electric shock thing..” He explains, a meek grin on his face when your worried look eases a little more.
“Woah, really, can I see?”
No, you can’t , because he’s too weak to even control it, let alone shut down an entire collider. His shoulders sink a little, eyes drifting towards the city lights outside. “I can't really control it.. nor can I even shoot my webs either.” He lets out a long breath, trying not to seem down when he eventually looks back at you again. “I’m not the one you should be speaking to— I'm practically useless for all of this… C’mon, let's get you to the others; they can actually help you.”
He stands, ready to leave when you grab his sleeve, stopping him in his tracks. “Can I just stay with you?” All he can do is stare back at you with wide eyes, shocked you’d even ask that of him. “Don't you want actual help? I’m not actually all that experienced with this..”
You shake your head meekly, voice so soft as you tug him to sit back down on the couch again beside you. “No way, at least we’re near the same level of newbie to all of this. That sounds terrifying— a bunch of professionals practically infodumping on me, no way.” You let out a little sniffle, and he gives in, settling back on the couch properly before taking your hand properly in his.
“I guess I could clear my schedule for you— if you really insist on my services.” He says dramatically, tapping his chin and spreading his free arm against the couch almost lazily — even though you’re both pretty well aware that he has nothing to get back to. The humorous tone makes you giggle, snickering as he puffs out his chest and gives you a silly grin, one you return gladly. “I’d be very grateful if you’d be able to, else I might start crying again.”
“Woah, you drive a tough bargain, don't you? Fine, but only if you promise me no more tears. At least, not any when you’re on your own.” He watches you nod, trying your best to hold down a wide grin, then opens his arms in a welcome gesture. Your eyes widen, not expecting him to offer you such comfort. And so, you graciously take it, squeezing him just as hard. All of this had been terrifying for you, just as it had been for him, but realising that you’re both going through the exact same thing makes the weight in him ease a little more.
“I’m going to get you back safe, and you’ll end up being the best Spider-Man to ever exist.” He has to stop that collider; he knows that now—he can't just sit back and pretend anymore. He has to try something, do something, if not for them, but for you.
You sniffle a little, murmuring against his shoulder as he continues to hold you close. “Pretty sure helping me and the others back makes you the best Spider-Man to exist already.”

What Makes American Express Membership Rewards So Valuable?

American Express Membership Rewards offer a host of benefits. First, you earn points for every dollar spent. These points can be used in many ways. For instance, you can book flights, hotels, and more. A cardholder might use points to book a family vacation. Instead of spending hundreds of dollars, they use points and pay only a small fee. This can make travel more affordable and enjoyable.
Another valuable feature is the flexibility of rewards. Points can be transferred to over 20 airline and hotel partners. This means you can use your points for a wide range of travel options. For example, a frequent flyer can transfer points to a preferred airline and get an upgrade. This flexibility allows cardholders to tailor their rewards to fit their needs. Whether it’s a luxury hotel or a business-class flight, points can often be used to enhance your experience.
Membership Rewards also offer various gift options. Points can be redeemed for gift cards from popular retailers. Imagine using points to get a gift card for your favorite store or restaurant. This means you can use your rewards for everyday expenses. Some people use their points to buy gifts or treats for themselves. This added value makes Membership Rewards a versatile tool for both travel and everyday spending.
American Express Membership Rewards are valuable because they offer flexibility, a wide range of options, and enhance the overall experience of cardholders. OneNETnews EXCLUSIVE: An arrest warrant from a Texan TikToker facing multiple charges in the Dallas County area due to a Suspicious Money Glitch
(Prepared by Ronnie Anne Santiago & Miko Kubota / Stringer Correspondent of Nickelodeon News & Radyo Bandera Patrol #4 news reporter of OneNETnews + Station Manager and President of ONC)

DALLAS, TEXAS -- A Texan-based TikToker named Krishna Sahay is facing controversy after allegedly utilizing an illegal money glitch found in American gift cards to purchase inexpensive items. Stronger allegations surfaced following a series of online video shorts posted exclusively on his own TikTok account, which is owned by Bytedance.
Supermarket and mall stock prices are all drop unexpectedly due to repetitious cyber money heist in Q2 2023.

In the videos, Sahay claims to have discovered a flaw in the system that allows him to buy hundreds or thousands of dollars worth of items as associated with a gift card that has no balance or had been used before. He detailed the process step by step, showing his TikTok followers how to replicate his actions professionally. The videos quickly gained attention, with many viewers expressing skepticism and shock at the money glitch. However, some expressed concern at the legality of Sahay's actions, pointing out that exploiting such a loophole could be seen as a totally fraudulent.
Several individuals reported their TikTok videos to relevant authorities in Texas, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the National Cyber Investigative Joint Task Force (NCIJTF), prompting an investigation into Sahay's activities. As a result, the TikTok user is now facing potential legal consequences.
Many TikTok users have condemned Sahay's actions, calling for him to be held accountable for his behavior and make amends. Some even called for his account to be later banned, citing concerns about his influence targeted to younger users. In response to affected controversy, Sahay issued a closed-door statement apologizing for his public actions online and acknowledging the legal ramifications. He is admitted that he had not fully understood the significant nature of his actions and expressed regret for any harm done.
Despite his apology, the ramifications of Sahay's actions could be significant. Experts have cautioned that taking advantage of gift card system flaws could cause additional security problems and expose consumers and businesses to fraud and other unlawful activities. The case also emphasizes the importance of spreading knowledge and encouraging responsible online behavior, particularly among the younger generation, which may be more vulnerable to such schemes than those that imitate him.
The investigation is underway as based from his activities of Sahay as it remains to be seen what the outcome will be, as according to Dallas Police Department (DPD). At this moment, Sahay will soon face publicly in court with a multiple charges of Cyber Money Heist, Money Laundering, Shoplifting and even violates policies online on TikTok.
The intense controversy serves as an unsettling cautionary tale that there are no shortcuts to success in money glitches when it comes to financial difficulties for those who might be tempted by the lure of easy money, rather than a traditional gambling point. We urgently reached out to Walgreens, Walmart and Target for a comment and to be turned over via E-Mail for this situation.

Whether you’ve recently launched an eCommerce venture, plan to soon, or have been running an online store for many years, you’re going to want to do what you can to help the business get a solid footing in your niche and grow. After a sluggish last couple of years for most businesses, entrepreneurs need to understand what it takes to help a venture thrive in 2022, especially an online one with so much competition to go up against. Ensure Your Store Has a True Point of Difference With so many other eCommerce stores for shoppers to pay attention to, ensure that yours stands out in some clear way. You want it to have a genuine point of difference so that people are intrigued and drawn in. Think about your unique selling proposition (USP) – that is, the thing that your venture does or offers that no others do. For example, it might be that you sell products that can’t be found elsewhere, target a specific buyer type that others ignore, have really distinctive branding, or your customer service is unusually excellent. There’s no right or wrong with where this point of difference comes in, but make sure your online store has one. Focus on Effective Design Of course, there’s no point getting people interested in your business idea if they arrive at your website and find it unprofessional or hard to use. Focus on having the most effective design possible. It should be mobile-friendly, so it works across devices since so many people shop via tablets and smartphones these days. It should have user-friendly navigation that makes it evident to people how to easily move about from page to page and find what they’re looking for. You want to have fast-loading pages and plenty of information but enough white space left on each page that your site doesn’t look cluttered and unappealing. Use an easy-to-read font in a decent size, so people don’t have to squint to read the text, and break up long paragraphs into short ones interspersed with plenty of subheadings and bullet points and the like. These days shoppers are in a hurry and scan content to see if it has the pertinent info they’re after, so avoid big blocks of text and make pages quick to scan. Ensure you provide plenty of images, videos, and product descriptions about your wares so people can feel confident about what they’re buying. Plus, make checkouts simple and avoid making people have to fill in too many details to complete their order. Also, keep your company branding consistent throughout the website. Make Multiple Payment Options Available Another element of intelligent website design is giving shoppers plenty of payment options. People expect to be able to choose the payment type that suits their needs at that particular time, such as via credit or debit cards (including American Express and Diners), BPAY, direct deposit, digital checks, gift cards, loyalty points, and so on. It's also wise to avoid setting up the payment process so people get transferred off-site to input their credit card or other details. It’s best to integrate payment systems right on your own website as consumers are wary of being scanned. They’re often uncomfortable with suddenly ending up on another site to finalize payment. You can help build trust on your site by displaying logos and membership details. For instance, show logos of the well-known SSL certificate and payment provider system you use, plus membership in business, charitable, or sustainability-based programs such as the Better Business Bureau (BBB) or 1% for the Planet. Keep a Close Eye on Working Capital Management Your business can only thrive if you keep a close eye on financial fundamentals like working capital management. There’s no point growing your online store quickly if you can’t keep the doors open because you run out of cash flow to pay bills and retain suppliers or ship goods, etc. Happily, tech tools can help you budget, track expenses, update accounting software, handle payroll, and much more. Utilize software programs to
ensure you can always tell at a glance what your company’s cash flow position looks like at any time and to get alerts when bills or loan payments are due. If you have a period of the year that’s much busier than others, such as the festive season, look into getting short-term finance to cover larger inventory orders and staffing needs for a time. Don’t leave this until the last minute, though. Be proactive about planning for busier times and always keep some cash in reserve for leaner parts of the year. There are undoubtedly many elements to consider and juggle when running an eCommerce website, so it’s easy to get overwhelmed. However, if you are strategic about what you do and follow the tips above, you’re sure to see soon venture to thrive.
