God, rewatching Angel is always so brutally bittersweet. Every damn time there's a happy or touching moment my heart has to cry the refrain of "but most of them will be dead in just a few years".
Doyle. Cordelia. Fred. Wesley. And still others.
That's the knowledge Angel will have to live with for the rest of his undead life, that the price of choosing to fight the good fight at his side got his best friends killed in the end. His friends who, unlike him, hadn't taken up the fight because they had a dark past to atone for, but just because they'd wanted to help people. Because they'd wanted to give their all to beat back the dark, even at the cost of eventually snuffing out their own light in the world.
And the thing is they wouldn't even have regretted it, in fact they chose it again and again at every step, because that's the kind of heroes they were.
Yep...this show is so brutally bittersweet.

Local libraries getting rid of physical medias such as newspapers, magazines, cds, dvds, and audiobooks is turning experiencing art into a privilege instead of a right but I don't think you guys are ready for that conversation
#the 95 year old lady who takes the city bus from the old folks home three times a week doesn't have spotify or a smartphone or a computer#how is she going to listen to her johnny cash cds#do you know how many kids I attended school with didn't have internet or wifi???#that wasn't even that long ago#they do not have streaming services stop getting rid of dvds and stop not buying new ones#also there are so many people who have a smart phone and the only thing they know how to do is call or text#if they want to keep using audiobooks let them! It's not killing you that they're not using libby#yes libby and hoopla and kanopy are great but the latter two have limited checkouts and the former usually has long waits#its not fair to expect older people and children learn how to use them if they don't want to or can't!#also magazines are basically unreadable online#so many girls will not be able to experience borrowing american girl magazines from the library because the library doesn't have magazines!#also don't even get me started on no newspapers#sorry I don't have the money for a monthly subscription to a newpaper guess I just won't know the news now#this is why everyone is getting fake news from twitter!#"but everyone has spotify and streaming services and audible and wifi and internet and smartphones and ipads and laptops#newsflash! they don't!#getting rid of physical media from libraries is actually very classist and ageist but people don't want to hear that#I love local libraries and think they are an amazing resource in so many ways#and that's why it hurts so much that they would leave such a large portion of their customers high and dry to maybe save a few bucks#rant#tags so long they probably could've been their own post lol

#like i know enough to know what i want. but what makes a computer actually run??? no fucking clue#BUT. i bought a gaming laptop like two years ago and it's already crapped out on me. and it's at a repair shop right now but because#it doesn't have standard parts (it's an acer nitro 5 17-inch) it's gonna cost like $750 to replace the motherboard and get it working again#and i bought the thing for $1500. so what the fuck#plus i've been thinking lately that i want to upgrade to an actual pc because i'm not in school anymore and don't currently need a laptop#and when i DID buy my laptop a couple years ago i didn't do enough research about what specs i wanted and i can't actually run#a lot of the games i want to play. so if i do decide to get it fixed i'd also want more storage and GPU. so it would be even more expensive#SO. i'm like. i can either pay like $1000 to fix my laptop which might crap out again in another year or two and need more uncommon parts#replaced. or i can buy a prebuilt pc which would be like $1800 if i'm getting everything i want.#OR i can build my own pc. and still get everything i want BUT in the process i will also learn how to build a computer (and thus how to#fix any problems that arise) and i can make sure to use common parts that can be replaced if they need to be. right?????#idk i kinda think it might be fun. and i've been wanting to learn the basics of computers for a long time because it seems like very useful#skills to have in life. and people say that this is a good way to learn and that it's not THAT hard to do because there's so many resources#and guides online to help you figure out how to do it.#like am i crazy for wanting to do this????#mine

anyway forget a spongebob episode or whatever the TRUE lost media white whale is whoever originally drew these pixel horse linearts which were endlessly remixed into sprite sheets and premades on literally HUNDREDS of little internet horse websites run by 12-16yo scandinavian girls in the 00s
#the over-active spleen#this is literally the only pic online i could find of them and like#a good website would have a sheet with 25 poses#i found one with 100 poses once#some of them obvs made custom by someone else and then traced into the sheet by another person going by style diffs#i dont think i can adequately capture the cultural impact of these pixel linearts on the Hinternet(horse internet) of the time#there was even a full website (also run by a teenage girl) with actual buying and trading/currency coding &etc#where she'd drawn knock-offs in a similar but not quite exact style#so she could charge real money memberships#the saddest thing is i think i saved these sheets as a kid but they were on an old laptop which died so gone forever#also fun fact the only reason this image exists online is due to one of two horse wbesites which still persist Somehow in this day and age#and since the forum all hosted images locally theyve been preserved where all others have perished
