Winter Safety Pool Covers Protect Your Family and Your Investment
What happens if pool is not covered in winter?
If a pool is not covered in winter, several potential issues can arise. Here are some of the common consequences of not covering your pool during the winter season:
Tumblr media
Debris accumulation: Leaves, twigs, dirt, and other debris can accumulate in the pool when it is left uncovered. This can lead to a significant mess in the pool, making it more challenging to clean and maintain.
Algae growth: Without a cover, sunlight can reach the pool water, promoting the growth of algae. Algae blooms can cause the water to turn green or cloudy, making it unappealing and requiring additional effort and chemicals to treat and restore the water clarity.
Water evaporation: Winter winds and temperature fluctuations can cause water evaporation from the pool. This leads to a loss of water volume, and you may need to constantly add water to maintain the proper water level.
Increased chemical consumption: With exposure to sunlight and the presence of debris, the pool water's chemical balance can be disrupted. Algae growth, increased evaporation, and debris breakdown can lead to imbalances in pH levels, sanitizer levels, and other water chemistry parameters. As a result, you may need to use more chemicals and spend more time balancing the water chemistry.
Damage to pool equipment: If your pool has equipment exposed to the elements, such as pumps, filters, or plumbing lines, they may be susceptible to freezing temperatures. Freezing can cause damage to the equipment, leading to costly repairs or replacements.
Safety hazards: An uncovered pool poses a safety risk, especially for households with children or pets. Accidental falls into the pool can result in serious injuries or even drownings. It's crucial to prioritize safety and take appropriate measures to secure the pool area during the winter.
While covering the pool may require some effort, it helps protect your pool from the potential issues mentioned above. By covering your pool, you can minimize debris, maintain water cleanliness, conserve water, reduce chemical consumption, and enhance overall safety.
What should I cover my pool with in winter?
When it comes to covering your pool in winter, there are a few options you can consider based on your specific needs and budget. Here are three common choices:
Pool Safety Cover: A pool safety cover is a sturdy and durable option that provides both safety and protection during the winter months. These covers are typically made of solid vinyl or mesh material, which prevents debris from entering the pool while also ensuring that it can support the weight of a person or pet if they accidentally walk on it. Pool safety covers are secured tightly to the pool deck using anchors and straps, creating a barrier that keeps your pool clean and safe during the winter season.
Winter Pool Cover: A winter pool cover, also known as a solid cover, is a popular choice for many pool owners. These covers are made of heavy-duty vinyl or polyethylene material and effectively keep leaves, dirt, and other debris out of the pool. Winter pool covers are typically secured to the pool using water bags or heavy-duty springs and anchors. They provide protection against sunlight, which helps prevent algae growth. However, it's important to regularly remove accumulated rainwater or melted snow from the cover to prevent sagging or damage.
Leaf Net Cover: A leaf net cover is designed to work in conjunction with a winter pool cover. It is a lightweight mesh cover that sits on top of the winter cover, acting as an additional barrier to catch leaves and larger debris. The leaf net cover makes the process of removing leaves and debris in the fall and winter much easier. When it's time to open the pool in spring, you can simply remove the leaf net cover and easily dispose of the debris, leaving the winter cover relatively clean.
Before choosing a cover, consider factors such as your climate, budget, and specific requirements. It's also important to follow the manufacturer's instructions for installation and maintenance to ensure proper use and maximize the lifespan of the cover.
Is safety cover same as a winter cover?
No, a safety cover and a winter cover are not the same thing, although they serve different purposes. Here's the difference between the two:
Safety Cover: A safety cover is a type of pool cover that is designed primarily for safety and to prevent accidents, particularly for households with children or pets. These covers are typically made of solid vinyl or mesh material and are specifically designed to support the weight of a person or pet if they accidentally walk or fall onto the cover. Safety covers are secured tightly to the pool deck using anchors and straps, creating a strong barrier that keeps the pool inaccessible and provides peace of mind during the winter months or when the pool is not in use. While safety covers offer some protection against debris, their primary function is to prevent accidental entry into the pool.
Winter Cover: A winter cover, also known as a solid cover or pool cover, is designed to protect your pool during the winter season. These covers are typically made of heavy-duty vinyl or polyethylene material and are intended to keep leaves, dirt, snow, and other debris out of the pool. Winter covers are secured to the pool using water bags, heavy-duty springs, or anchors. They help maintain the cleanliness of the pool by blocking sunlight, which reduces algae growth. While some winter covers can support light loads, they are not designed to be walked on and do not provide the same level of safety as a dedicated safety cover.
In summary, safety covers are primarily focused on preventing accidents and providing a strong barrier, while winter covers are meant to protect the pool from debris during the winter season. Depending on your needs, you may choose to use either a safety cover, a winter cover, or a combination of both for maximum safety and protection.

HFT Secrets for USD/CAD: How to Trade Like a Pro Why USD/CAD Is the Forex Pair You Shouldn't Overlook When traders think of heavy-hitting currency pairs, EUR/USD or GBP/USD often steal the spotlight. But the USD/CAD pair? That’s where the stealthy action happens. Often referred to as the "loonie" (not just for the loon bird, but also for the adrenaline-pumping moves), this pair is an unsung hero in the Forex market. Combine it with high-frequency trading (HFT), and you’ve got a recipe for serious edge. High-frequency trading with USD/CAD may sound like rocket science, but it’s more like rocket fuel when done right. Here’s how you can sidestep the pitfalls and tap into this lucrative market niche. The HFT Revolution: Why It Matters for USD/CAD High-frequency trading isn’t just a buzzword; it’s a competitive playground dominated by algorithms faster than your morning coffee order. In the context of USD/CAD, where price movements often correlate with crude oil trends, applying HFT strategies can provide pinpoint precision. Key Takeaway: Many traders ignore the nuances of how commodity prices drive USD/CAD. Don’t be like them. Pro Tip: Oil and the Loonie Are Besties A 1% move in crude oil prices can send the USD/CAD soaring or plummeting. HFT systems tuned into commodity-related news spikes can capture these micro-volatility shifts. Think of it as catching lightning in a bottle – but you’re armed with lightning rods. Common Myths About HFT in Forex (And Why They're Wrong) Let’s bust a few myths, shall we? Because half the battle is knowing where NOT to trip up. - Myth: HFT is Only for Big Banks - Reality: Retail traders can use lightweight algorithmic tools. Platforms like MetaTrader 5 offer plugins that mimic institutional-level HFT capabilities. - Myth: You Need a Supercomputer - Reality: Cloud-based services like AWS or Google Cloud can provide scalable computing power at a fraction of the cost. No Batcave needed. - Myth: It’s Just a Fancy Name for Scalping - Reality: While scalping focuses on short-term trades, HFT is about leveraging speed and volume. It’s the difference between buying a bag of chips and owning the vending machine. Elite USD/CAD HFT Tactics You Need to Know 1. Arbitrage Opportunities Did you know USD/CAD often lags behind movements in crude oil futures? Exploit this delay using statistical arbitrage. Programs like R and Python’s Pandas library are perfect for setting up algorithms that track this. Ninja Move: Focus on platforms that offer direct market access (DMA) for faster execution speeds. Latency kills profits. 2. Order Flow Analysis Order flow is like peeking behind the curtain in The Wizard of Oz. It shows you why price is moving, not just that it’s moving. For USD/CAD, watch the volume spikes on Canadian GDP releases or U.S. crude oil inventories. Pro Tip: Use tools like Sierra Chart for real-time order flow visualization. Look for liquidity pools where your HFT bot can enter and exit without slippage. 3. Pairing News with Speed Economic news hits the USD/CAD hard. But by the time you’ve brewed your coffee, HFT algorithms have already executed a thousand trades. Platforms offering API access, like Interactive Brokers, allow you to program bots that react to keywords in milliseconds. Example: Create an HFT bot to monitor phrases like “Fed rate hike” or “Canadian unemployment rises” and execute trades based on sentiment analysis. Tech and Tools for HFT Trading - VPS for Low Latency: Invest in a virtual private server close to your broker’s servers to reduce execution time. - QuantConnect: Build custom algorithms and test them on historical data to refine your edge. - Tick Data Suite: For accurate backtesting on USD/CAD-specific scenarios. - Python Libraries: Libraries like NumPy and Scikit-learn help create predictive models for USD/CAD movements. Case Study: Turning $1,000 into $10,000 with USD/CAD HFT Meet Alex, a retail trader who used an arbitrage-based HFT strategy focused on USD/CAD’s correlation with crude oil. By programming a bot to trade during U.S. oil inventory announcements, Alex turned $1,000 into $10,000 in just six months. Key Lessons: - Start small and scale up. - Prioritize low-latency setups. - Diversify strategies to include order flow and sentiment analysis. How to Start Your HFT Journey Without Burning Out - Master the Basics: Understand USD/CAD’s unique behavior. Take a free course on Forex trading here. - Join a Community: Collaborate with traders in the StarseedFX community for daily tips and expert analysis. The Ninja’s Approach to USD/CAD HFT Mastering HFT with USD/CAD is like sharpening a samurai sword. It takes precision, strategy, and the right tools. Whether you’re capitalizing on arbitrage opportunities or leveraging the loonie’s love affair with crude oil, the key is preparation and adaptability. As with any trading strategy, risk management is non-negotiable. Fate and Phantasms Far Sides #6: Ciel
Tumblr media
Today on Fate and Phantasms, Magical_Biche and I bring you the final of Tsukihime’s heroines, Ciel! Her build breakdown is below the cut, and you can find her character sheet over here. I’ll let Biche do the talking now.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello there! Today, we’re building the last of the main girls, Ciel. I’ll admit that I’m not the biggest Ciel fan, so I kinda delayed her until I had no other choice, and here we are! I had to finish the main heroines before moving on to the villains, after all. As usual, heavy spoilers beyond this point.
At first glance, Ciel might seem quite straightforward, but she’s far from being simple to build. She shows plenty of abilities, many more than Arcueid or Kohaku, actually. I even learned a bunch of things in the Type-Moon wiki, like how she could use magic. However, I know how reliable that wiki is, and I’ve mostly built Ciel with my own experience of the games, and tried to stick to it. I will also have to do Powered Ciel, as she’s quite different from OG Ciel, and certainly simpler to build. While Shiki Nanaya/Tohno and the three different forms of Akiha aren’t too different from each other, Ciel offers a whole new dimension in her alternative form.
As for what we need for this build, we need to be skilled at fighting with our staple weapon, the black keys. As they don’t exist in DnD, obviously, we’ll have to stick with daggers. We also need a bit of hypnosis, to blend in with normal people, and we need to be quite fast and agile, to fit our fighting style of swift strikes. We also need to be an absolute beast at tracking and slaying vampires, of course. Finally, while we can’t be immortal, there are ways to avoid death in DnD, and we’ll try to grab some.
With all that said, let’s dive into the build!
Race and Background
Despite being an immortal vampire, the variant human is the race that fits our character the best. We look exactly like one, and we used to be one, despite our immortality curse. Being a v. human allows us to put a +1 to our dexterity and constitution scores, and to grab the Fey touched feat, giving us a free use of Misty step and Charm person per day, as well as increasing our wisdom score by 1. Those 2 spells are quite useful to us, as one allows us to literally teleport behind enemies, and the other allows us to charm people and have them accept us as a part of their daily life. Being a variant human also gives us a free skill proficiency, and we’ll be taking the proficiency in perception, as we can’t grab it otherwise. It fits our role perfectly, as we’ll often have to search for our foes.
Next, we are quite obviously an acolyte. This gives us a proficiency in religion and insight, perfect for doing religious stuff (we’re still employed by the church, after all), and finding whether people are secretly vampires or not. We also always have a shelter for the faithful, allowing us to take shelter in religious buildings, always nice, but situational. The two language proficiencies are entirely dependent on the game, but abyssal and celestial fit a religious character quite well.
Ability Scores
Sadly, we can’t exactly have 4 stats at 15 from the start, so we’ll have to be toned down a bit. We’ll have to use point buy for this build, as we need many ability scores to be quite high, and we don’t really need the other ones. First, our two highest stats should obviously be our wisdom and our dexterity. We are very agile, and we have an easy time to understand other people. We are also extremely determined. Next, our constitution should be pretty high. However, thanks to our classes, we will have a hefty pool of HP, so we don’t really need to have our constitution too high. 13, with our racial boost, puts us at a comfortable +2, enough to tank hits for a while with our good AC. Next, we have quite average intelligence and charisma. We’re not particularly bad at those, but we’re not really good either. Next, we dump our strength. We’re actually quite strong, but we need a dump stat, and strength isn’t of any use to us. With point buy and our racials, our stats would be an 8 in strength, 16 in dexterity, 14 in constitution, 10 in intelligence, 16 in wisdom and 10 in charisma. With that set, we’re on to the class levels.
Class Levels
1. Monk 1: Naturally, with high wisdom and dexterity, a religious background and no visible armor, being a monk seems obvious. First level monks get proficiency in two skills, and we’re going to be proficient with athletics and acrobatics. This will add a lot to our mobility, be it for climbing or jumping over people. We also become proficient with strength and dexterity saving throws, great to avoid being pushed around the battlefield and avoid dangerous AOEs. Next, we become proficient with a bunch of weapons, but we’ll only ever use our bare fists and daggers, as we have ways to mitigate their low damage, as monks. Finally, we get proficient with the cook’s utensils. We’ll obviously only ever do curry, but we need to be good at making it.
Our first monk level also gives us our martial arts-allowing us to be efficient at hitting stuff quickly-and unarmored defense, giving us a quite decent AC of 16 right off the bat.
2. Cleric 1: Of course, as we were raised by religious people, we are tailor-made for the cleric class. Level one cleric gives us spellcasting, including the powerful tool that is ritual casting, and access to all of the level one cleric spells, as well as three cantrips from the spell list. We’re grabbing word of radiance, to add a bit of radiant damage to our sacred arsenal (preferably used right after hitting something with a thrown dagger), resistance, to help with survival, and thaumaturgy, a great dramatic tool to have a louder voice, or have our eyes radiate light.
As for the first level spells we should have prepared, shield of faith helps with AC, cure wounds allows us to heal quickly, protection from evil and good gives us a powerful defensive option against our not-yet-sworn enemy, and guiding bolt is a great way to start a battle and give advantage to our allies.
Next, being a first level cleric also means that we can pick a domain, and we’re a cleric of the grave, because of our sacred task of tracking the undead and putting them back into their grave. The subclass gives us an improved version of spare the dying, adding to its range and allowing us to cast it as a bonus action. It also means we always have the false life spell prepared, which does a great job at making us less mortal, and bane, which doesn’t really fit in our build, as we’ll have more and more concentrations as we level up, and we’ll already want to spend ours to maintain shield of faith or protection from evil and good. We also get the circle of mortality feature, which helps us revive our fallen allies with cure wounds. Finally, our eyes of the grave allows us to detect any undead within 60 feet of our person, as long as they’re not magically hidden. This is a great tool to track vampires, who are obviously undead.
3. Cleric 2: Being a second level cleric gives us our channel divinity feature, once per rest. As with all clerics, we can use it to turn undead, a great way to turn ghouls created by our sworn enemy. As a cleric of the grave, it also allows us to pave our foes a path to the grave, giving them vulnerability to the next attack it suffers from us or an ally. This is a great way to bypass some annoying immunities, but it sadly only lasts for one hit. If our DM allows it, we can also use our channel divinity to harness divine power, allowing us to recover some spell slots. As it is dependent on our proficiency bonus, we don’t need any more cleric levels to make this powerful, which is great.
4. Monk 2: We’re diving back into the monk to reach our extra attack, this time. We get our first ki points, allowing us to do a bunch of stuff with our bonus action. We can use patient defense to boost our survivability, flurry of blows to deal a bit of extra damage with our fists, and step of the wind to move a bit during our bonus action. Our speed also increases a bit thanks to unarmored movement.
5. Monk 3: We enter the second tier of adventuring with that level, and the third level of monk gives us our monastic tradition, the way of the long death. This gives us a nice little ability to mimic the immortality we are supposed to have, the touch of death. This allows us to gain a bunch of temporary hit points when we kill a creature while in melee range. Pretty neat! We also gain the ability to deflect missiles, which does what it says, and if our DM allows it, we can also get the ki-fueled attacks, allowing us to still keep on the offensive while we spend ki points.
6. Monk 4: Reaching our fourth monk level gives us our first ability score improvement, and we’re pumping up our dexterity by two points. We also get slow fall, furthering our agility, and yet another optional feature we actually need, quickened healing, allowing us to heal ourselves with a martial art die by spending ki points.
7. Monk 5: Fifth level monks gain an extra attack, which increases our damage output a lot. It’s a simple feature that fits our fighting style of throwing things, as we now do it faster and better. We also get the stunning strikes, which may be useful to stun creatures that have bad constitution saving throws. We also get our final optional feature with focused aim, another great feature to help hitting stuff, if our DM allows it.
8. Fighter 1: Now that we are actually good at hitting stuff and not dying too quickly, it’s time to become better at throwing! We become a first level fighter, allowing us to take the thrown weapon fighting fighting style, at last. This allows us to draw our black keys (daggers) as part of our attacks, which means we can now use our bonus action for whatever else. Like throwing another black key. It also gives all our thrown weapon attacks a +2 bonus to their damage, which is very nice, as our martial arts die is still only a d6. Being a first level fighter also gives us a second wind, which allows us to regain some HP on a bonus action, nice for our gimmick of not dying.
9. Fighter 2: Our second level in the OG martial class gives us an action surge, basically giving us a second action per turn once per long rest. With that, we can throw as much as 5 black keys in a single combat turn, which can down a boss pretty quickly. It only gives us a second action, though, so we can’t use a second bonus action on top of it.
10. Fighter 3: We get a third level in the fighter class so we can reach exactly one feature from a particular subclass. It’s not that eldritch knight’s spellcasting is bad or out of character, but we’re mostly here for the other feature, weapon bond. Thanks to weapon bond, we can bond with up to two weapons and recall one of them in our hand as a bonus action. That basically means that we can have unlimited ammunition, which is totally awesome. However, we can only recall one weapon per turn, which limits us if the combat is too long.
Also, this archetype gives us 2 wizard cantrips, and booming blade will really help with our melee damage. It sadly doesn’t work with thrown weapons. Also, even though we clearly don’t have the intelligence to use it correctly, sword burst can be used to materialize a bunch of black keys around us to hurt anyone at our contact.
As for our first level spells, we’re getting absorb element, giving us resistance to elemental attacks and allowing us to increase our melee damage a bit, shield, which is always great for a character whose survival is a selling point, and find familiar, which lets us call our faithful Nanako to help us. Not that she will, but having her here can be useful to tank a hit or two. Also, we’re forced to make her a rat or a weasel, unless our DM is generous and feels like allowing her to be a horse, like she’s supposed to be.
11. Ranger 1: Yes, we’re adding yet another class to this build. Multiclassing into a ranger gives us a new proficiency, and we’re now someone who’s good at survival, which makes sense, given that we can survive in harsh environments. We also get the favored enemy feature, and we’re picking undead as our favorite enemy, because… they are. Our favorite enemy, that is. We’re taking this feature over Tasha’s variant, favored foe, because of the flavor, and that’s about it. We lose in efficiency, and that’s about it. We’ll still get hunter’s mark later, so it doesn’t matter too much. However, it makes much more sense to take the optional feature for the other trademark ranger feature, deft explorer. That feature is quite simple and gives us an expertise in a skill of our choice, in our case, acrobatics.
12. Ranger 2: Our second level in the ranger class grants us a new fighting style: two-weapon fighting. This can be used with thrown weapons, which means that now, all of our attacks with thrown weapons can add our dexterity modifier to them. It also works when we hit things in melee, by the way. We also get yet another round of spellcasting, with the ranger’s unique spell list this time. We have fewer options, and a lot of them require concentration, though.
We’re taking hunter’s mark, to add a nice little d6 to pretty much every one of our hits, to increase our ability to kill undead (and other things), and zephyr strike, which works perfectly with our hit-and-run tactics.
13. Ranger 3: With this level, we reach our fourth and last class archetype. We become a monster slayer, giving us access to a new spell we already had (but now it’s always prepared, so it allows us to prepare another cleric spell instead), protection from evil and good, which makes us extremely hard to hit by our favorite enemy, among other things.
While we’re in spells, we learn a new spell, which is going to be jump, making us even more agile than we were.
We also gain a hunter’s sense, allowing us to peek into our target’s defenses. We also get the slayer’s prey feature, which acts like a watered-down (as it’s limited to once per turn) hunter’s mark, that can’t be upcast, but since it’s not a concentration, it can be cast with hunter’s mark. Also, the time limit is until our next short or long rest, which is great if our target manages to escape, for example.
14. Cleric 3: Back into the cleric class for the last time. Third level clerics only gain access to their second level spells. However, there is plenty of great options there, like enhance ability, which obviously helps us moving around with the cat’s grace, or tank hits with the bear’s endurance, lesser restoration, allowing us to recover from many status effect affecting us, and hold person, which could be seen as us pinning down things with our black keys. At that point, if we add all of our spellcasting features, we are considered a level five spellcaster, meaning that we have 4 first level spell slots, 3 second level spell slots and 2 third level spell slots to use. We don’t know any third level spells to use our biggest spell slots, but we can always upcast guiding bolt and absorb elements.
15. Monk 6: Back into our main class for the rest of this build so we can get decent martial arts dice. The sixth monk level makes our unarmed strikes magical thanks to ki-empowered strikes. This is nice in a low magic campaign, but in a regular campaign, magic daggers should be pretty common. Plus, we already have booming blade and a bunch of spells to deal magical damage already. We also gain a new subclass feature, hour of reaping. With this feature, we can literally scare off creatures that fail a saving throw, which fits our build quite well, actually, as we do not want bystanders to be caught between us and our prey. This can also be used to scare some undead, too.
16. Monk 7: Seventh level monks gain the evasion feature, making us extremely difficult to touch when it comes to most damaging AOE spells. Needless to say, this fits our agile and resilient build quite well. We get even more resilient thanks to our stillness of mind, letting us end a charm or fear effect as an action on our turn.
17. Monk 8: We become level eight in the monk class, and reach our second ability score increase… at level 17. Since we can’t exactly fit feats into this very varied build (not that we need to, although tough would have been great), we’ll have to increase our wisdom by two points this time, so we kinda keep up with our other party members when it comes to casting.
18. Monk 9: At level nine, monks can finally walk on walls and water! It’s nothing too fancy, but that means we can now jump on walls, walk on them and take our enemy by surprise, which is incredibly cool.
19. Monk 10: At their tenth level, monks become immune to disease and poison, thanks to their pure body. It’s about time we had this in the build, since we’re supposed to be immortal.
20. Monk 11: At last, we reach the eleventh monk level. We only get one feature, in theory, which is mastery of death, which lets us not die up to eleven times per short rest, which means we are essentially immortal for up to 11 attacks. Yes, it’s that good. It’d be even better if we’d taken more monk levels. But we also get a “passive” improvement at this level: our martial arts die becomes a d8, which means our puny daggers now deal 1d8+6 damage when they’re thrown, and we can throw them up to 3 times on regular turns. We’re not even bad at hitting stuff in melee too thanks to booming blade and sword burst.
Pros: Thanks to monk levels and 2 fighting styles, our black keys are a deadly weapon we can pretty much spam everywhere, making us effective at both close and medium range. We’re also quite mobile thanks to jump, being a monk, our single use of misty step, zephyr strike, hold person and booming blade. We also get a pretty good AC thanks to being a monk, and we’re quite the cockroach thanks to our monk subclass, healing from second wind, healing from the cleric spell list, false life, resistance, shield, absorb elements… Next, we also have a ton of ways to rack up damage, with booming blade, hunter’s mark, Slayer’s prey and Zephyr strike. Finally, we have quite a lot of useful class resources, including 11 ki points, 4 hunter’s sense and the ever powerful action surge.
Cons: However, we’re clearly not a perfect being. We had to limit our constitution because of how little ability score increases we could grab. Also, mixing the cleric and ranger spell lists means that we have a lot of concentration spells. We also have an almost useless spell with sword burst, which uses our bad intelligence stat, but fits our theme so well. Finally, our bonus action is quite crowded, and we’ll most likely rarely ever use our potential 3 attacks per turn, since we have to set up hunter’s mark and recall weapons from time to time.

Creature Feature - Part 1
Tumblr media
Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3 / Part 4 Preview / Taeil blurb
Summary: You work at your family’s 9-5 nighttime movie theater for the supernatural. Your fling with vampire!Taeyong is just that: a fling.
Pairing: Vampire!Taeyong x female reader
Word Count: 2.1k words
Genre: Romance, Fantasy, Smut
[9:20 pm]
It was early into the night before your shift at Sinema, the most popular spot in the town of Mystic. The smell of freshly made popcorn dominated your senses. Your favorite BeeGees song played in the overhead of the theater. “Too Much Heaven”. Your parents loved playing music from the 60s and 70s in particular. You grew to love it.
The moviegoers were in a frenzy to get to an early showing of the new Nicholas Sparks movie. Ghosts manifested and disappeared in the blink of an eye. Their admission was free much to your parents’ chagrin but some of your closest friends were ghosts, like Taeil. It would hurt a lot when you had to say goodbye to him but at least he was having a good time tormenting his horrible ex. Fairies zoomed all over the cinema, leaving dust in their wake. When you were a little girl, you liked to collect fairy dust into little bottles and make a wish on them. It worked once when you’d wished school would be cancelled for no reason on a Friday when you were in the sixth grade. This week the fairy dust was pink, your favorite color. The fairies were excited for Valentine’s Day coming up. A werewolf and vampire couple, not as taboo as it once was, were making out at the arcade. The werewolf plopped his vampire girlfriend onto a motorcycle simulator seat and nearly spilled his ICEE all over the Mario Kart consoles. A merman father was pulling his infant son in a transportable pool for him to play in wherever they went. When merfolk were old enough, they could be on land without water contact for a week, at least.
Sinema was a family company. Your parents were the owners but were away on their twentieth or so (you lost count at this point) honeymoon. You’ve known about the supernatural since the moment you were born when an angel kissed your forehead and marked you as an ally to the creatures. None of your human contacts or your dad’s side of the family knew about the lives you led at the movie theater. They all just knew you worked night office jobs. For them, that in itself was inconceivable.
You typed away at some emails at your office desk located on the second floor of the theater. Your door was opened a crack but you hoped no one would disturb you for at least five minutes. It could get chaotic. There was always minor disputes to settle between the different species. Last week, a vampire nearly killed her human escort during an anniversary showing of Interview with a Vampire. It turned out that she had escaped from a rehabilitation clinic where she was supposed to control her bloodlust. It didn’t seem to pan out.
You felt a breeze behind your neck. It clearly didn’t come from the window since it was shut. So you sighed and shut your laptop down. “Hi, Taeyong,” you said with a sweet whisper.
You felt his elegant hands from behind you as he slowly and torturously rubbed your shoulders. His mere touch sent you into a near frenzy. “You’re a little tense. Rough week?” His voice was a dulcet tone when you shared moments like this.
You leaned your head back into him, inhaling his body soap and his naturally enticing scent. You sighed in contentment. “Rough year.”
Taeyong hugged you from behind and nuzzled your neck. You wanted to get up from your seat but Taeyong’s grip on your shoulders was rock solid.
“A back massage is in order,” he brought his lips to your ear. His warm breath tickled.
“You have to make it quick, then. I’m probably gonna get called in for-“
Your phone rang. It was your assistant manager, Haseul. She recently started at the theater and wanted to continuously touch base with you. You groaned.
You wanted to ignore it. At least for ten minutes. Technically, you still had some time before you had to be out there. You grabbed your phone and just stared at it. Taeyong growled quietly.
“Settle,” you commanded.
He huffed, still rubbing your shoulders. “Don’t answer it.”
“You think I want to?”
“No, but I know you’re going to.” He sulked. You imagined his lips were pouty.
An idea came to you. “If I ignore my phone, can you...?”
He knew where this was going. When your voice faded, he could feel your temperature rise.
Taeyong’s hands stalled then. You got yourself up and faced him. He was in black dress pants and a black button down with the first few buttons undone. You could see his Cancer sign tattoo through the opening. You ran your fingers down his shirt. “Thank you,” you said as your hooded eyes locked on his.
Taeyong did his best to restrain himself when it came to you: a nearly human girl who he should never have set his sights on.
But he knew he was doomed when you looked him right in the eyes the first time you met.
And there were moments that you two just gave into temptation. Gave into each other. Not considering the consequences in the long run.
You pulled him back by his shirt so you could kick the door shut and lock it. You pulled him down to you and kissed him. You could feel his fangs pierce against your tongue. His tongue met with yours. He picked you up to sit you down on your desk. He pinned you down so your back was against the mahogany and your desk planner. You pushed everything off your desk so nothing would get in the way.
Taeyong got on top of the desk and kissed your neck, his fangs lightly scraping your neck. Not enough to pierce through your soft skin but enough to send you reeling.
A vampire’s bite was unlike any other sensation. You’ve heard patrons describe it as euphoric, orgasmic, and transforming. Unless things got too far, the experience was something you should have before you died.
You’ve seen vampires suck the blood of their partners over the years. You always wondered what it would feel like. Would you lose control and continue to crave it? Or would you enjoy it, make peace with it, and carry on like nothing?
You’ve wanted Taeyong to bite you since the first moment you saw him. Last month, he came to Sinema for the first time. He brought a human girl as his date. He was well-dressed and almost like royalty. His back straight and his head poised in authority. He was stunning and upon seeing him buying tickets you’d hoped to see him again. Vampires were always beautiful but to you, Taeyong was the most beautiful of them all.
That night of his date, you relieved someone from cleaning the theater that just played the new 47 Meters Down movie. You were surprised to see that in the middle of the credits, Taeyong was going down on the girl.
The girl moaned loudly and repeatedly sang his name with praises. Her panties and skirt were on the floor. Her white blouse was unbuttoned and stained red. Her neck was angled in a position that made you realize that he was drinking her blood.
Part of you was mortified to get caught but the other part was so intrigued you didn’t care if you did.
You didn’t know it but Taeyong felt your presence the moment you walked in. You smelled like cherry blossoms. You smelled...oh-so sweet. The scent of your blood pumping through your veins caught his attention even more.
He froze then and the girl laid back on the seat in exhaustion. She looked so relaxed and joyful. She was basking in a glow you’d craved. That was when Taeyong turned to you.
The faint light from the movie screen graced his sharp cheekbones. He licked his bloody lips. He tilted his head in curiosity at you. A trace of innocence laid in his big brown eyes. Then, he smirked.
You never imagined you’d pine for someone supernatural. You’d tested the waters before. Against your parents’ wishes and in instances that they would never find out about if you had anything to say about it.
Taeyong came to the theater several times after that, hoping to catch a glimpse of you. Learn your name. Hear your voice. Get you alone. For someone who was almost human, you sure disappeared and reappeared quickly. You were pulled in different directions all the time as a manager. Your speed would make any vampire respect you.
Back in your office, you refused to wait any longer to feel him on your bare skin so you pulled off your sleeveless blouse. He swiftly undid your bra and tossed it to the floor.
His eyes softened. “A dream,” Taeyong marveled as he drank you in. He always did. He knew how to make you feel like the most enchanting creature in the world. He made you believe it. Your skin glowed and it sent him over the moon that he had that effect on you.
He had you there for a moment. His brief but sweet words tugged at your heartstrings.
But that feeling dissipated quickly as his demeanor shifted. Your breasts were perked up from the immediate exposure and he squeezed your nipples hard. You yelped. Taeyong ran his fingers down to your hips and moved inward to your crotch. He unbuttoned your slacks and yanked them down. He brought his teeth to your panties and pulled them down. Your breathing stalled, then. He slid his tongue into your folds, not wasting any time. Moaning, you pulled at his electric blue hair. He brought his eyes up to you, then. There was warmth and sin and promises untold.
You squealed as his tongue worked faster. You threw your arms over your head. “Tae...yong...I swear-“
He stopped instantly. “Do you want me to stop?” He licked your slick off his lips with so much gusto. His eyes were doe-like, then. He loved to tease you for you frustrated him every day to no end.
You wished he wasn’t a vampire then so he could feel the sting of your slap. But it was pointless.
The only way you could hurt him is if you broke his heart.
And it didn’t seem like you two would ever get to that point. You had a deal: you had these little moments together but in the end, you both went your separate ways.
“What’s wrong?” He interrupted your thoughts. He could feel your heartbeat slow down.
It boggled your mind when he could feel what you felt. Maybe it was a vampiric thing.
You sighed as you got yourself up off the desk. “Why did you stop?” You cupped his face into your hands.
“Something’s bothering you.” He knew it as he put his hands against yours. He could see your mind had been elsewhere when he was doing some of his finest work on you.
You sighed, not wanting to get into it today. “I’m just wondering...when you’re going to bite me. Take my blood. Relish in it. So I could finally feel what you’ve made others feel.” Your voice started getting lower as you wrapped your arms around his shoulders. It wasn’t a lie, technically.
Taeyong felt flustered. If he could blush, he would but being undead made that imposible. He wanted to drink from you from the moment he felt your presence in that movie theater. You were so pure and intoxicating. He questioned how he had so much self-control until now.
Since you two began this arrangement, he’d come close to carrying out the deed. But one look into your bright eyes that glimmered with hope and fantasy and good...he just couldn’t.
He treasured you so much. It terrified him. A girl hadn’t made him feel like this in over twenty years. A girl whose face he couldn’t remember for the afterlife of him. He knew he’d forgotten about her because the pain had been too much for him. Now he counted his lucky stars that he couldn’t remember her.
Taeyong became a vampire in 1986. He’d experienced change upon change in that one particular year. He left his home. His family. His friends. He found a way to wipe himself from their memories so they wouldn’t hurt anymore. It was easier this way. It hurt enough for him to know that he would outlive every person he ever loved. He became a member of a powerful clan of vampires. He had a new family now. But he still carried the loneliness that he wished could fade away.
And now that you were in the picture...you two were entering dangerous waters.
Taeyong would have to leave you before things got any deeper. But he wondered how much deeper he could go. He wasn’t planning to let you go anytime soon. That he knew for sure.
“We talked about this,” he said as he laid you down again and kissed your neck. “I don’t think it’s a good idea.”
Taeyong, a vampire who took you to the moon every chance he got when he fucked you, didn’t want to suck your blood? “Really? And you haven’t changed your mind?”
“Nope,” he said, “You’ve never had your first bite and...everyone reacts differently to it. I don’t want you to risk it.”
You ran your hands against his cock that protruded against the fabric of his pants. “What if I‘m willing?”
Groaning at your touch, he managed a chuckle. “You don’t know what you’re saying.”
He moved down to your clit but before he could enter again, you got up.
“I have to get to work,” you said. You moved past Taeyong. You bent down, baring your ass and knowing it would send him over the edge, just to get your panties and your slacks.
Taeyong was stunned that you rebuffed him. “y/n, are you mad?”
“Mad? Me? No way.” You rolled your eyes as you snatched your bra that was stuck under Taeyong’s knees.
“You don’t get it, y/n. I like you. And I don’t want to treat you like my escorts.”
You didn’t want to hear about his escorts. Now that you’ve been seeing Taeyong more...you hated to admit it but you found yourself getting jealous. You and Taeyong weren’t exclusive. You were free to see whoever whenever. But you didn’t want to.
And that was your problem and you knew it.
You snapped. “That’s rich. I’m an escort minus the bonus you give at the end of your dates with other girls.” You put your top back on. You ran your hands through your hair to make sure a hair wasn’t out of place.
“You don’t get it, y/n.” He was getting frustrated with you because he knew you weren’t going to let this go.
“What is it, Taeyong? Are you afraid that I’m going to fall head over heels in love with you if you make me feel that good?” You demanded.
“y/n...”
“You don’t have to worry about that. I know what this is between us. I’m not delusional. Please, Taeyong, I want you to do it. I can handle it. I’ve wanted this for a long time. And I want it to be with you.” You pleaded as you pressed yourself against him, knowing your touch did things to him. You were so tempting that he was about to cave.
But something inside him told him no. You were not an escort. You were not just his fuck buddy. You were...Well, he didn’t know what to call it. He was scared to think even deeper about it.
“No, y/n!” He yelled harshly. He had to shut you down quick because you got too close to convincing him.
He stunned you, then. Well, you had it coming because you wouldn’t drop it. You couldn’t talk to him anymore. He wouldn’t budge and you didn’t understand why. He shouldn’t underestimate you. Did he think you would submit to him and follow him to the ends of the earth if he tasted you? His other escorts left him well enough alone unless he summoned them again. So what was the problem? What was he afraid of? You ran out the door, leaving Taeyong crestfallen.
The truth was, he didn’t know what he would do if he got a taste of you.

the south is like another country
i have an entire essay on how the current radicalism and steep political divide in this country can be traced directly back to the civil war - rural white southerners here playing the part pre-ww2 germany, the part of a resentful, conquered nation assimilated into the nation that conquered them, because if you think about it the south/the confederacy WAS its own nation for a time, that lost a very bloody war, and paid very steeply for it (not that slavers didn’t deserve every bit of misery the “carpetbaggers” threw at them), and the bitterness from that loss/the lost capital from having their slaves freed has been handed down through the generations, to people who now live in abject poverty while their livelihoods are destroyed by late stage capitalism, and their schools are so broke a lot of people here don’t even know how to read, and their towns are eaten alive with meth, and they’re still looked down upon by most of the country for being racist uneducated backwater hicks (to be clear, we should always look down on racism and racists, but it’s not making them any less bitter/ripe for being drawn into the cult of tr*mp’s america and f*cism).
but anyway this post isn’t about that! this post is about how when i go up north and i say “y’all it really is like i’m living in a different country” NOBODY BELIEVES ME. we speak the same language, we’re all americans, right? PFFFFFT. this amazon van thing just drives it home (pun intended). here’s a list of differences from the deep south* to the rest of the country*:
*the deep south here meaning the RURAL deep south. sorry to everyone who lives in cities/the suburbs and/or in border states like maryland and virginia. i’ve been to maryland and virginia and they are technically southern and some of this applies to them but it is not quite as extreme as it is here. the rest of the country includes the other states i’ve been to (california, washington state, new york, etc), which are in mostly every area except the midwest. i cannot personally vouch for the midwest. sorry, midwesterners! rural midwest probably has a lot of things in common with the deep south because rural life is different and also how easily people move around this country, but whatever
this is a long-ass post get ready
difference #1: DRIVING. driving & pedestrians are entirely different un rural areas vs urban areas. for starters, southern towns often do not even have sidewalks. this is because of 1. budget and 2. racism.
budget: rural towns are very spread out, and it costs major $$$ to put sidewalks in. it’s just not worth the trouble, financially, to put a sidewalk where only 12 people are ever going to use it, AND spend the money to maintain it. never gonna happen. racism: initially, suburbs especially in the south were seen as safe havens where people could get away from the stress of living in “urban” (re: integrated) areas. that the neighborhoods were only accessible by car and NOT by people who were too poor (black) to afford automobiles were just an added bonus.
as such, the first time i left the southeast, i was SHOCKED to see people walking and biking WITH (or indifferent to) the flow of traffic. down here we are taught that if you are walking along the road (or biking, because bikers get lumped in with pedestrians down here), it is very very very crucial that you walk against the flow of traffic, because you cannot expect drivers to see you and not mow you down. the onus is on YOU to get out of THEIR way. additionally, walking in knee-high grass along the side of the road sucks, and because there aren’t many people here, the roads are usually totally empty. so oftentimes pedestrians just straight up walk ON the road. and if you do that you absolutely have to be able to see a car coming from a long way away, because rural drivers on completely empty roads tend to take them at extremely high speeds just for fun. the people who live diagonally across from me have had to replace their mailbox four times because folks take that blind curve at 90mph. i had a cat get hit by a car on that road. (they all live indoors now.) i even witnessed a car accident happen there when i was just outside minding my own business. ever see a tire fly 12 feet into the air and come down into someone’s windshield? that’s what happens when you hit power line pole driving like that.
the first time i ever encountered one of those pedestrian crossing buttons was in california in the early 2010s. i had literally never seen one before because we simply don’t have them here. they’re not very self-explanatory if you have been jaywalking your whole entire life because all you’re taught to do is look both ways and make sure the street is empty before you cross. northern/urban roadways are made so that pedestrians and drivers can both get to where they’re going. in rural/southern areas pedestrians might as well not bother.
interestingly, while not an entirely southern problem, there’s a loose correlation between rural areas and more problems with drunk drivers.
on the driving side, driving in a city is batshit insane. it’s both faster and slower. there is NO space and you’re expected to go whenever you have so much as an inch to worm your way in. there’s more traffic, and the traffic totally dictates your speed. in the south you can change lanes if you want to drive faster or slower and weave around traffic or let it weave around you, but in a city there’s no other lane to change to and if you don’t drive at the speed of the people ahead of and behind you you will die. you turn fast, you brake fast, etc. whenever i come back from driving in a city the people who ride with me think i’m insane. you don’t PULL ONTO A ROAD if you can SEE ANOTHER CAR THERE, what the fuck? meanwhile i’m like “lol that is six miles of space i have plenty of time” and give everyone in my vicinity heart palpitations until i readjust.
tailgating in a rural area is something only assholes do (done by people on a two-lane road to encourage the person in front of them to go faster because the only other lane is for oncoming traffic), and if someone gets within one car length of me on a two-lane road i can very passively aggressively slow my vehicle to a crawl until they back the fuck off. in a city you’re lucky if you have a twelve inches between your bumper and the next car’s hood ornament.
difference #2: LANGUAGE. this is a small one, but the southern dialect combined with the lack of literacy means i am learning certain things late in life. phrases i have heard verbally with my ears but had never seen written out include: “chest of drawers” which i thought was “chester drawers” - “seven year itch” which i thought was “seven year each” - “albeit” which i thought was “i’ll be it.” i’ve made a deliberate effort to unlearn mine own accent/dialect but i run into weird shit all the time. remotes are mashers, shopping carts are buggies, you put stuff up instead of putting it away, i fix you a drink instead of pouring you one, we shoot the game instead of play it. my mom LITERALLY can’t understand me if i speak too quickly - she has to remind me all the time to slow down and put on my southern.
difference #3: TECHNOLOGY. issue of whether or not you personally have the creepy amazon vans aside, the rural south is behind the rest of the country on technology. things in cities are AUTOMATED. things like the little button you press to cross the street, tickets you take at parking garages, even the parking meters you find in cities, that’s just the beginning of it. one time i came across a little computer touch screen in a MCDONALDS where you put your order in. you didn’t even go up to the counter. you just put your order on the screen and swiped your card and then they got it ready for you and you never had to speak to a human person. self-checkouts, gas pumps where you can swipe your card and not go in and pay at first...the south got those YEARS behind everybody else. in the mid-2010s i went to DC and visited a target for maybe the 5th time ever and i was BAFFLED by the self-checkout. i had no idea how to use it! it was like less than ten years ago and i was IN MY TWENTIES and i had never seen one before! when we send a package we have to talk to a human person. when we order food we usually have to talk to a human person. apps for places like dominos and subway have not been in use here for very long. my county just got doordash LAST YEAR.
because i am 31, and because the south is so technologically behind, i am actually old enough to remember how when you used to go to a gas station an attendant would not only pump your gas but wash your windshield for you while you just SAT IN THE CAR. that seems like something from the 50s but it actually was a thing here in my childhood IN the 90s. i wish i was making this up.
difference #4: INFRASTRUCTURE. this sort of goes hand-in-hand w/ the last point because so much of our infrastructure is made of technology, and it’s also more of a rural/urban thing than a south/north thing. but just for fun here’s a non-exhaustive list of things i don’t have in my town:
starbucks* - the first time i went to a starbucks i was in my 20s
a public pool - we used to, but now the only pool here requires a YMCA membership. the only baseball diamond in this county is also at the Y.
walmart
in fact, ANYWHERE to buy clothes that is not a goodwill or other secondhand store. i cannot buy clothing unless i order it online or LEAVE MY TOWN. almost all of the clothing i own is from walmart because it’s one of the only places in my entire county where you can actually PURCHASE clothing.
grocery store chains? pffft. my town has two entire stores and both are small southern chains. i didn’t go into a publix for the first time until two years ago when i went to florida. i’ve NEVER entered a whole foods.
food delivery? yeah, no. like i said, we got doordash last year, but before that the only place you could get delivery from was a pizza chain. we only have two pizza places in my town that deliver, and one is a local place, not attached to any chain, so i can’t spend my loyalty points there. (it’s very expensive there too.) last year it was CLOSED for six months because the manager got caught dealing meth. every last one of the delivery drivers was trafficking it for him. they all got fired and had to restart from the ground up. for that short time, it was not possible to get any food delivered to your house whatsoever.
a hospital/ambulance services - if someone is sick, we have to take them to the hospital in laurens, the town next door (about 15-20 minutes by car). the town i live in lucky - we have our own police and fire departments. (acab but you know what i mean.) joanna is a smaller town next to mine that isn’t a real town - it’s been demoted to a census designated area because only 2000 people live there. if they have an emergency, they have to use OUR fire and police departments, and LAURENS’s ambulance/hospital system
after-school places kids can go to keep from getting into trouble. we have the Y, if you have money (no one here has money), and we have churches, but mostly schools can’t afford to run too many extracurriculars. there’s nothing to do here but church and meth.
food banks: zero. we have food DRIVES sometimes where people will come from further away and bring free food, but if you’re hungry, there’s nowhere you can go for help - you have to wait for help to come to you.
libraries: we don’t have our own library. we have a branch of the county library that’s physically located in our town. but we share books with the rest of the entire county, so everything is always checked out or at the other branch.
*we technically have a starbucks that’s in the local college campus, but only college students are allowed to be there. they’ll still serve people without a college ID because no one gives a fuck, but you can’t linger and loiter and hang out like you do in a normal starbucks. we also have one in the barnes and noble in greenville, which is about an hour away by car, but again, it’s a mini starbucks that serves a limited menu and none of that weird Starbucks Culture™
here’s a few things i don’t have in my ENTIRE COUNTY:
movie theaters - technically. we have a Historial™ one-screen theater in laurens that shows one movie for two weeks a month after it hits regular theaters and then switches to another, and if you miss it, too bad. this is a VERY recent addition - it wasn’t restores until i was in my 20s as a kid and a teenager i had to ride in a car an hour or more to go to the movies.
target. only commies and yankees have target. down here we do walmart.
malls
arcades
skate parks/skating rinks
bowling
museums
zoos/aquariums
campgrounds
fairs. our county fairground got razed a decade ago because there just werent enough people showing up to justify the expense. so no more fairs. you have to have people to fund things and down here there just aren’t enough people anywhere.
you get the idea. we don’t have entertainment. like i said, nothing to do but church and meth.
CLASSES FOR STUFF: knitting classes, dancing classes, driving classes? nope. gymnastics, karate dojos, golf, knitting groups, books clubs, cooking classes? [GAMESHOW BUZZER]. you can’t even hire a clown for a birthday party out here. we do have a shooting range. ONE. in the entire county. and a race track. and a rather infamous former kkk memorabilia store. they made a movie about that (serious tw for this trailer - they’ve got white hoods, burning crosses, pepper spray, the whole nine), which, yes, takes place in laurens, aka right next door to me. i used to walk by that place all the time when i was playing pokemon go. haven’t seen the movie but the shooting locations in the trailer make laurens look a lot bigger and prettier than it really is in real life - especially the racetrack, which, in the trailer, is actually PAVED. (this is inaccurate to real life.)
EDUCATION: lots of people can’t read. we have two schools for illiterate adults, one religious college, and one branch of one of the state colleges that has a skeleton staff and a fuck ton of computers (you basically just go there to distance learn/e-learn - if you want to take real classes from this college, you have to drive at least an hour.)
support groups/group therapy: almost none. we have al-anon and weight watchers, but that’s about it. there’s only half a dozen therapists in my entire county, and none that operate from my town. mental healthcare down here is bullshit.
on food: we don’t have many sit-down restaurants, where servers bring you your menu and your food. if you don’t count waffle houses, my town has 4. my county has 9. in and out, 5 guys, applebees, ruby tuesday, red lobster, olive garden, panda epxress? forget it. those places were and still are rare treats. i’ve only been to an olive garden twice. red lobster once. whenever i leave my county i BEG for chinese because there’s only two chinese restaurants in our entire county and one of them is crazy expensive and the other one sucks.
we also don’t have the more important stores you need to like, live. if we need to exchange our router at a charter store? yeah, we don’t have one. need to visit the sprint store to get your phone repaired? nuh-uh, we don’t have any phone stores either. my family recently switched to at&t because it was the only company that had a physical location in our county. before that, we had to drive an hour for even the smallest repair.
on a grimer note: we don’t have homeless shelters! homeless in laurens county? too bad for you. we do have homeless PEOPLE. they just have nowhere to go except the churches
hospitals? only kind of. like i said, our county has one, but it’s not equipped to take seriously sick people. when my mom had a heart attack she had to be driven straight to greenwood, which is 45 minutes away if you’re not in an ambulance. they obviously made it faster than that, but still. that was scary. it took them a long time to get here. i had a distant relative of mine die before the ambulance made it because they were SO far out in the sticks, even further than me.
we also don’t have any specialty stores. sporting goods, gamestops, shoe stores, florists, craft stores, bookstores, best buys...forget it. if you can’t buy it at walmart, you just can’t buy it. the exceptions: my TOWN has one jewelry store, two hardware stores, and two auto repair stores. my COUNTY has three clothing stores, none of which are in my town, one place that sells used TVs, and one movie rental place. thrilling, right? i can rent a movie if i drive out of town. (i know streaming killed the rental business, but we also only had two places when i was a kid, if you counted the rental section in the grocery store.)
so, yeah. i know the term “shithole” is really loaded these days, but rural areas are just plain less developed, and often in seriously poor repair because nobody fucking uses them. there USED to be more stuff here - my mom was on a bowling league, and as a kid i had a birthday party at a skating rink - but late stage capitalism and drugs destroyed it all. people ran out of money to do things like skate and bowl and so those places closed. the south is full of empty store fronts and deserted strip malls slowly being eaten by kudzu. my brother got out of this town and whenever he winds up back here (not often) he remarks on how completely and utterly dead everything feels. “my friends who live in greenwood now think they’re all rural,” he said once. “they complain constantly about how remote it is. but they have no idea. they wouldn’t make it five minutes out here.” greenwood has its own movie theater, mall, starbucks, homeless shelter, food bank, and hospital.
so, yeah! if you were wondering what rural white southerners are so fucking mad about, that’s part of it. propaganda and xenophobia and racism has their anger directed ENTIRELY at the wrong people, but it’s hard to argue that the anger itself isn’t just a little bit justified.
difference #5: CULTURE. specifically culture around food, and the culture around the civil war. i could write an entire other essay about the culture of the church being everything because the church IS the only semblance of infrastructure we have and this is why the south is so homophobic, but we’ll skip that for now.
food: this is a quickie, because i sort of touched on it already, but there are like, almost NO vegetarian options here. there’s very limited choices of cuisine. it’s ALL waffle house and soul food. we have a lot of mexican places because we’re physically close to the mexican border, but aside from that, forget finding like indian or thai or japanese or anything like that. no sushi. forget finding a menu that has meals that are halal or kosher. there’s just. no culture here. no variety. you know? like i said, our entire county doesn’t even hit double-digits for proper sit-down restaurants.
civil war: i’m not going to go into the big stuff since i sort of covered it at the top and also this post is getting way too long, but to other white rural southerners there is legitimate baggage around the fact that my mom married a yankee and that i am half-yankee. and he’s not even a real yankee! he was born up north but raised in southern florida. (florida is weird. the further south you go geographically, the less southern you are culturally.) yet: my family makes jokes that are sometimes not jokes about this. when i drop this information in casual conversation people get that look on their faces like: ah, that explains it. it being that i am not religious and don’t laugh at racist jokes and maybe i am queer?? (strangers tend to be unsure about this last part, even when i’m wearing rainbows.) it’s because i’m half-yank! that explains everything! the xenophobia is SO strong here that white people are even xenophobic at OTHER WHITE PEOPLE.
so in conclusion when i say the north is like another country, it’s because the people who raised me think of it like another country. and culturally! it is buck wild! the differences that there are! when i leave this town i feel like i step into fucking star trek! if you are not from the rural south, and you have never been to the rural south, please do not come here! i’ve been to a few different places now and this is definitely my least favorite one.

My Peeping Little Secret | 1
Tumblr media
Pairings: Jungkook x Fem!Reader
Genre: PWP/PWBP [Porn With Bad Plot] | Roommates AU
Word Count: 3.7K
Warning(s): Swearing, masturbation, over stimulation (M only), voyeurism, mention/usage of sex toy, explicit description of sexual content (duh), awkward one sided sexual tension and a very very horny OC.
Summary: The gift you bought for your roommate, Jungkook, is not only the source to all of your communication problems but the sole solution to solve your dry spell.
Part 1 (here) | Part 2 (coming soon)
A/N: ALRIGHT, HERE IT IS! The Jungkook fic that I’ve been DYING over because of how fucking OIJASODI. This fic is personally for self satisfaction. I had this thought in for so long and it’s just AHHHHH. I’m sorry you’re gonna witness my dirty mind and hopefully this satisfied you.
And if it doesn’t, then part 2 might help ;)
Anyways enjoy!
Tumblr media
“I’m going to smack that fucking headset off,” you curse out angrily. Stomping your way towards the elevator that awaits for you, ignoring all of the stares that follow behind you. Bitterly, you jab your index finger onto the button that correlates to the level you share your apartment with the one and only Jeon fucking Jungkook.
To say you were annoyed was an understatement.
You’re enraged.
Heated.
Five fucking seconds away from bursting into flames and setting everything you touch on fire.
And it’s all thanks to the stupid new XK900 gaming headset.
For his birthday this year, you decided it was appropriate to buy him the new wireless headset he’s been drooling over for the past 3 weeks to replace the ones that are a sneeze away from falling apart. When giving him the gift, you never thought before a 21-year-old man could squeal like a child on Christmas day, you were very much wrong.
The moment you saw the sparkle that glimmered in his eyes and the bright bunny-like smile he had after unwrapping the gift made it seem like it was worth denting your bank account for, but really it wasn’t.
The luxury you had when it came to communication is now gone. You couldn’t yell out his name from the kitchen anymore, texting him is a struggle if he can’t hear his phone going off and the many many times your calls have gone straight to voicemail is getting out of control. At this point, you wouldn’t be surprised if you found out that someone broke into your apartment, while Jungkook was at home playing game, by busting the door down and taking all of your valuables in your shared home.
Who knows? Anything utterly crazy and stupid can happen in this world.
Nonetheless, you are not pleased to find out that all of your 9 calls went right into your only ride home’s voicemail after an extremely bad date. Not only did the date end poorly before leaving the restaurant but it further went down the hole of disappointment when you later found out the guy can’t eat pussy or use his dick for shit, leaving you sexually frustrated when he finishes and you don’t.
Finally arriving at your level, you head towards your door while rummaging through your bag for your keys. “I knew I should have of just bought him alcohol and saved the money for that new wall banger,” you mumble bitterly to yourself. “Could really be using it right now.”
Opening the door to your apartment, you see no sign of Jungkook yet. Just the silence of your apartment that will soon be filled with the ruckus of your yelling.
“JUNGKOOK!” You call out angrily, slamming the door behind you. You sigh to yourself. “Why did I even bother to call out for him.”
Kicking the painful heels off your feet, you make a beeline right to his bedroom door. The door is closed but you can still make out the heavy pants from the other side. Your mind instantly knows exactly what he’s doing.
“ARE YOU SERIOUSLY WORKING OUT AT 10 O’CLOCK!?” You screech out, too blinded by anger to even care about disrupting the neighbors that are probably sleeping at this hour.
No answer from his end.
During times like this, you would wait for him to finish his session before bombarding him with complaints and insults. But given the circumstances you are in, you ignore it and fling his door wide open.
“JEON FUCKING JUN-
As if the air itself suddenly punched you square in the face, you froze into place. The train of insults and complaints are all caught in your throat at the sight before you.
Jungkook’s pants pooling around his ankles, his luscious thick thighs spread apart, head tossed back with his headset on, mouth hanging wide open and eyes closed as he pants heavily with no shirt on his gaming chair. Your mouth closes then opens like a fish, unable to process the whole situation due to your shock. You’re quick to notice in your peripherals the porn that’s displayed on his screen along with the bottle of lube near his mouse but it still doesn’t distract you from the sight before you.
Your eyes are firmly planted at the sight of the engorged red tip that peeps out every few seconds from the inside of his fist and the small vein that you can barely make out from his fast movements on his hard cock. What makes matter worse were the dulcet moans and whimpers he’s freely spilling out, echoing and bouncing between the walls of the room.
Quickly, before he notices you, you carefully speed walk out of the room, in fear he would feel movements of your heavy steps against the ground. Once you’re out of sight, you let your back hit the wall, feeling your heart beat so loud that it almost deafens you from the moans coming from your roommate.
You just walked in on your roommate’s jerk off session.
Right in front of him.
Without him knowing.
“Fuckkkkk.” He drags the word out deliciously as a long drawn out moan follows behind shortly.
On a serious note, you should be a bit guilty of watching him stroke his cock. But given the previous circumstances, you were left in, you can’t help but enjoy the sound of his groans and moans. Completely blinded by your lust to not care about anything but your roommate’s hot jerk off session.
You can clearly hear every little squelching and slick sound of him pumping his dick, it’s absolutely sinful but melodic to your ears and you can’t help but rub your thighs together when his breathing starts to stutter. Any other time, you would have left and drowned out his vocal pleasure by blasting music through your ears buds, but the curiosity controlled by your thirst for anything sexual causes you to peep your head out from the side of the door frame instead.
His free hand is clenched around the armrest of his chair tightly, lifting himself off the seat every so often to thrust himself hard into his fist. The sight of small dribbles of sweat that covers his abs and forehead causes you to involuntarily lick your dry lips.
“Ohhhh fuck, ohhh fuck.” He groans out desperately.
Soon enough, he starts to become more vocal, moaning and grunting more with every pump, he’s close. You watch intensely as he picks up on a faster and sloppier speed on his cock, clenching both his hand and toes. Then finally, after a few minutes, he stutters before letting out an ocean deep groan, enjoying the waves of pleasure that deafens all of his senses. You watch with wide eyes as he milks out a delicious load of cum onto his clenched abs and heaving chest, letting it freely dribble down his body and hand.
You almost whine at the sight of it, eyes hooded and hazed by the view of your extremely attractive roommate finishing his lust filled session. God, you would do almost anything to lick the cum off of him.
You almost take your exit when suddenly you see him wrap a hand around his limping cock again. He starts to pump himself at the same speed before, whining and whimpering every second. Your toes curled and eyes widen as he lets out a loud moan and pushes himself into another orgasm, only being able to milk out a smaller load than before. His first shot hits near his peaking nipple but the last few barely gotten far and dribble down his hand, dripping over every single finger. He lets go of his now used cock, letting it limp back against his belly as he tries to level out his heavy breathing.
At this point, you might just cum on the spot. You never expected your roommate to be the type to push himself into a second orgasm, or really expected him to be that vocal either. But the thought of him cumming twice inside of you, filling your cunt up with both your juices as he moans with every weak thrust to milk out every drop, only makes whine as you desperately try to find some friction to soothe the aching problem between your legs.
Almost getting lost in your own thoughts, you hear him grumble and move around in his seat, coming back from his cloud 9 experience. Quickly, before he notices your presence, you take 3 long careful steps towards your room and hid behind the door, keeping it open like how it was to avoid raising any suspicions.
You hear the sound of a soft thud of something, probably his clothes, being thrown somewhere followed by the sound of his sweaty naked body being peeled off the leather chair. Carefully, you inhale and exhale softly through your nose, to reduce the chances of any possible sounds that could slip into his ear. You hear his heavy footsteps getting louder and clearer with every step and instinctively you inhale sharply and mentally scolding yourself for it, fearing he might have heard the silent sound of your distress.
Luckily he doesn’t.
Before your heart could burst from all of the adrenaline, the bathroom door beside you creaks and then creaks again. You hear the sound of the door shutting followed by the almost silent familiar click indicating he locked the door. It’s not until you hear the water of the shower running that you let out a sigh of relief.
Closing your bedroom door, you walk with stiff arms and legs to your bed and plop yourself into a starfish-like pose above your covers and blankets. As the situation settles in slowly, your mind is bombarded with so many questions and thoughts.
You just watched your roommate masturbate and cum, twice.
Tumblr media
Honestly, you wish you could say you got to sleep peacefully last night.
It was a blur for most of the part, but you could only vaguely remember flipping and tossing around between your blankets, trying to find a comfortable position to ignore the ache that screams between your thighs. You didn’t want to touch yourself, it wasn’t right to and morally you would feel guilty for it if you did. It was his private time, something you should have never walked in on.
Or stayed longer to watch.
Or fantasize about later on at night.
The price you had to pay when having a dry spell.
Nonetheless, it was never something you should have witnessed. So if you were to fulfill your sexual desire to polish the pearl then you would end up with only guilt and sticky fingers.
As soon as you step foot out of your room, your nose is filled with the greasy but delicious scent of breakfast. You start humming blissfully as the distinct sound of oil sizzling makes your stomach grumble. Instinctively you wet your lips, craving the taste of whatever is being prepared in the kitchen.
You walk out of the hallway and almost choke at the sight before you. You were probably too distracted by your hunger to realize the clear view of your roommate’s back facing towards you and his attention in front of the stove, with your baby blue apron on, flipping bacon in a frying pan. It was an odd and rare sight to see since usually, you’re the one to make breakfast but you enjoyed the change either way.
Taking a step forward, the wooden floor creaks underneath your step causing Jungkook to fling his head to look at you. At the sight of his face the many lewd images of your roommate flash before you.
You cringe at the thought, feeling the awkward tension of last night show.
“Are you okay?” He asks, an eyebrow raised towards you.
You nod your head stiffly, shaking your shoulders to rid of the tenseness that sticks onto you like chewed gum. “I’m fine, just woke up to a weird dream.” You plainly lie.
He doesn’t quite catch your lie and nods in understanding. “Can you set the table for me? I’m almost done with the last piece of bacon.”
You hummed back, walking towards the upper cupboards to grab the plates. “This is an odd sight.” You commented, wanting to fill the silence around you with small talk in hopes to push away your sinful thoughts.
He catches on to what you meant and chuckles softly. “Don’t get used to it, it’s my way to apologize for last night. I saw the texts and calls after my shower and was about to go grab you but I saw your shoes at the front and bedroom door close.”
You grip onto the plates tightly, remembering how you hid behind the door after he… you know.
Gulping down the need to squirm, you weakly smile. “Oh, yeah it’s alright. I was able to get home safe.” You strain to say, internally punching yourself for sounding off.
He stops all movements abruptly and you almost flinch because of it. “Really?” He questions, looking at you with wide eyes.
You nod a bit too fast for your liking, feeling the tightness of your lips as you flash a fake smile back at him. “Yup, it’s all good in the hood.”
As soon as those words left your mouth, you internally cringe. Who the hell says that nowadays?!?
He doesn’t buy your lies this time and continues to look at you oddly. “Are you sure?... I kind of expected you to throw a plate at my head or something.”
You shake your head as you walk past him to both set up the plates and to avoid his eyes. “I’m very sure Jungkook.” You strain to say.
He blinks a few times, still eyeing behind you but shrugs his shoulders. “If you say so then.”
Once Jungkook finishes cooking breakfast, the both of you sit in silence across from each other as you silently eat your food, phones in your hands. Since Jungkook’s attention is stuck onto the illuminated screen in front of him, it gives you the relief to squirm in your seat from time to time to release some of the tension. Despite scrolling through your Instagram for memes to maybe kill the lusting thirst for your roommate it makes no use when the source to all of your sexual frustration is right in front of you. It also doesn’t help when he’s sitting back relaxed in the chair with his legs spread out like how he was yesterday, god you really shouldn’t be so turned on by a guy’s mad spread.
Then again, your roommate is no ordinary guy. He may have the mind and face of a kid but he’s one hell of an attractive guy. Chiseled jawline, soft brown eyes and an amazing body figure that lures all female and gay men's eyes on him. And what makes it all better was the fact he has a great personality to top it all off. Kind, goofy and thoughtful about others, really he was the whole package and could easily hook someone in with just a few words.
Yet he was still living the single life.
You know for sure people have asked him out, all your friends did at some point but he always turns them down, saying he was personally not ready for one at the moment. You knew deep down it was a lie but never bother to question it, it’s not your business to poke at anyways.
The sinful thoughts still continue to dance around in your head, almost as if it’s mocking and pressuring you to cross the line and fuck yourself later when he leaves the apartment. You almost moan at the thought of it, playing with one of the sex toys you hid under your bed once he’s out to let your thoughts and hands run wild.
You snap out of your thoughts when you hear the sound of his chair screeching against the floor, adjusting his position to sit more comfortably against the wooden chair. His eyes are still on his phone, completely oblivious to your stares on his thighs that peak out through his jeans.
He’s also unluckily, for you, sporting one of your favorite ripped jeans, giving you the juicy sight of his thick thighs and muscles through each rip. What makes it ten times worse for you was the belt that’s cinched through the loops of his jeans, defining the tiny ass waist. You lick your dry lips at the thought of your legs wrapped around them tightly as he continuously pounds into your slick cunt and finishes into your womb.
God, you really need to get laid.
The sound of his phone shutting causes you to snap your direction back onto your phone, praying to the heavens that he didn’t catch you ogling over his figure.
“I’m gonna go head to work now, do you need me to pick up anything when I drive back?” He asks you, standing up to put away his dirty dishes and head towards the coat hanger that waits for him beside your front door.
You internally sigh out of relief then hummed. “I’m not sure, I’ll text you later if I think of anything.” You reply back, keeping your eyes on his back and suddenly realizing how his define muscle still pokes through his shirt.
“Alright, text me before 6 then.” He tells you while putting on his black coat, ruining your perfect view.
Bidding your goodbyes, you wait until you hear the sound of his heavy footsteps leaving the hallway before letting out a heavy sigh with your head tilt back in relief, but the torture isn’t over for you yet.
The silence that looms in the now empty apartment makes it a lot easier for your mind to repeat the sound of his whimpering and moans in your head. You curl your toes, clearly envisioning the scene of him pushing himself over the edge, moaning out constantly as he milks the last bit of his cum before going at it again for a second orgasm.
Biting onto your bottom lip, you let out a quiet whimper and rub your thighs together, feeling the slick of your arousal gush out. Your lust starts to consume all of your senses, causing you to squirm and grip onto the edge of your seat tightly until your knuckles turn white.
At this point, if you continue to hold back it will only ruin your panties even more.
Out of pure thirst for your release, you spring out of your seat and head towards your room, not bothering to put away your dirty dishes. Closing the door behind you, you kneel down onto the side of your bed to fish out the Nike shoe box you stole from Jungkook. Placing it onto your bed, you happily lift the lid up to reveal your collection of various sex toys. Letting your fingers trail above them slowly, you decide to use the purple dildo that you bought last month. You feared its length and girth when you first saw it and never thought about using it.
That is until after seeing the length of your roommate’s dick.
Tossing the shoe box onto the floor, you hop onto your bed purely out of excitement. With your back against the pile of pillows and dildo beside you, you let yourself relax into the cushions. At your angled position, you stare at the pasty white ceiling above you in order to have a blank canvas for your mind to freely paint on. Slowly, your free hand trails down to your sides and onto the rim of your pajama shorts, imagining Jungkook doing so while he’s hovering above you.
You imagine his large frame above yours, eyes following his own hand as it nimbly teases the strap of your shorts, bottom lip caught by his teeth as his hooded eyes now on yours.
With no hesitation, you pull off the shorts and discard them over to the side where your shoe box is. The cool air around you makes it fairly obvious for you to feel the wet patch that still grows and stains your panties.
Before taking them off, you let your free hand trail above the wet patch and press onto it gently. The action causes you to moan softly as you envision the sight of Jungkook eyeing your panties, rubbing small soft circles onto the spot, whispering dirty secrets.
Finally, you make the move to remove your underwear next. As you do, you widen your eyes at the sight of a string of your arousal clinging from your heat to the wet patch on your panties. You blush embarrassingly when realizing how wet you were.
You can already imagine the sight of Jungkook’s reaction to this, licking his lips as your slick starts to drip down and pool within the sheets of your bed, thirsting for the taste of you.
Before you slip your fingers in between your folds, you hesitate a bit as the guilt starts to ponder through your mind. You are just a hair away from crossing the line, passing a territory you won’t be able to escape once you enter. Biting onto your bottom lip, you start to list out the pros and cons to your next decision. If you do this, you will only see and act differently around him. It will for sure affect your current relationship you have with him and he will notice it too which only makes you worry about the unknown future of your consequences.
So is the risk worth it?
You chose to stop, thinking it’s better to be safe than sorry. That is until the sounds of his moans continuously repeat in your mind like a broken record, reverting you back to your decision and changing your answer.
‘Fuck it!’ You thought to yourself, slipping your hand down to your aching clit, letting all of the lust consume your thoughts and blind you from all previous logical thinking.
With closed eyes you moan out his name, rubbing slow teasing circles onto your nub before reaching over to your side to grab the purple dildo, permanently shutting out your last logical thought.
With that, you cross the line of no return and made a new dirty little secret.

Tumblr media
The past few days had been tense. Peter had skipped out on three dates, his excuse always being his duties as the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. Of course Y/N, understood what being the hero meant to her boyfriend, but did he really forget his duties as her boyfriend?
Y/N sighed, a frown crossing her lips as she sat down her phone on her nightstand. It was nearly midnight, usually the time when Peter would call to wish her sweet dreams before she went to bed. That didn’t happen tonight, just like it didn’t happen the night before, or the night before that. Y/N was starting to worry about Peter’s feelings for her. Did he still want her? Did he even want to be her boyfriend anymore? Had he lost feelings. Questions like these buzzed in her brain, numbing her from all other things outside. With that frown still painted on her face, Y/N went to bed with a heavy heart, in hopes that maybe Peter would call or at least text her later that night.
When morning came Y/N didn’t even jump for her phone, knowing pretty well that Peter more than likely didn’t bother to contact her. Since it was the weekend, Y/N thought she might as well pay a visit to Peter’s apartment, check in on him and make sure he wasn’t dead. She through on a pair of jeans and sweatshirt, then headed for his complex. Y/N rehearsed what she would say to him when she got to his door, but when she actually got there her mind went blank.
“Y/N! Hi there, come in!” Aunt May said excitedly as she let the teen into the apartment. Y/N gave her a weak smile.
“Hi Aunt May, is Peter home?” Y/N asked, her hands now tucked into the front pockets of her jeans to stop herself from fidgeting with her fingers.
Aunt May nodded, “Oh yes, he’s just in his room. Go on and head back there if you want.” The woman smiled. Y/N nodded and headed to the room, her heart rate increasing with each step she took.
Slowly, she knocked on the door, “Peter?” Her voice was quiet. When he didn’t answer she thought she might not have heard her, so she went to knock again but the door swung open. On the other side stood Peter, busted lips and blackened eyes.
“What are you doing here?” The way those words came out of his mouth stung Y/N’s skin like scolding hot water.  “I just wanted to check in on you.” Y/N took a step back, her whole demeanor changing. Maybe it was a mistake going to his apartment, maybe he just wanted to be left alone. Peter left the door opened and walked back into his room. His suit was thrown in a pile, covered in dirt. Hesitantly, Y/N walked in after him and shut the door behind her. “What happened?” Y/N finally asked.
“Just some stuff, I’m fine.” He sat at the edge of his bed and looked down at his hands.
“Peter, what’s been going on? I- you flaked on three dates this week, you’ve been distant. Am I not what you want anymore?” Y/N had to ask, she had to let it out.
Peter’s head snapped up, his eyes narrowing. “I missed those dates because I had to save the city, you know that!” Peter shook his head, “You know what being Spider-Man means to me, you know what my duties are.”
Before she could even process what she was saying, the words slipped from her mouth, “And what about your duties as my boyfriend?”
Peter’s eyes widened, almost as if he was shocked that she would say something like that. “Not everything is about you, Y/N.” Peter rolled his eyes and scoffed.
“If being Spider-Man matters more to you than the well being of our relationship, than maybe you should just focus on that.” Peter didn’t even look at her. It hurt. It hurt because he didn’t care. It hurt because he didn’t realize what he was doing to her. Y/N nodded and looked down at her hand, the hand that was wearing a ring Peter had given her for their anniversary. He had saved up all his money to make sure he had enough money to go buy it for her, but now it seemed like it didn’t mater.
Y/N placed the ring on his desk, looking one last time at the boy who wasn’t even caring that his girlfriend was walking away from an argument that he didn’t care to listen to or fix. Y/N walked out of the apartment as fast as possible, her eyes blurring as she rode the elevator down to the lobby. The tears flowed freely, staining her cheeks with dirty streaks. She walked out of the complex angry and hurt. Her mind was a mess, thinking about everything that just happened, Peter’s attitude towards her, and what she possible could have done to make him so mad.
The distraction of her thoughts stopped when she heard the screeching of tires and people screaming. Her blurry eyes couldn’t see what was coming at her until it was too late. A semi-truck came at her full speed, hurtling itself onto the sidewalk where she was standing and tossing her back against a store wall. Y/N didn’t even have time to scream, she was already unconscious with blood dripping from her cracked open skull.
Peter didn’t hear the crash even though it was only a block or so from his complex. The hairs on his arms stood up, his spidey-senses telling him something was wrong, but he ignored it and laid back down. The boy’s brain was now full of it’s own thoughts. He replayed the argument in his head, cringing at his attitude towards his girlfriend who only wanted to make sure that he was okay.
“How could I do that to her?” He said out loud to himself.
“Do what to whom?” His aunt’s voice startled him, causing him to jump up and off his bed. “Where’s Y/N?”
Peter looked down shamefully. “She left, we uh- had an argument and I said something that wasn’t true.” He looked down and shook his head, his own tears filling those beautiful brown of his. “I messed up, Aunt May, I messed up so bad.”
May walked into his room and sat down next to him, “Just talk to her, apologize and work out whatever you need to work out. I’m sure if you try, she’ll forgive you.” She gave him a warm, reassuring smile, gave him a short hug and then left.
“Just talk to her, it’ll be okay.” Peter mumbled to himself. He picked up his phone and dialed her number, listening to the ringing sound before getting transferred to her voicemail. Peter frowned and tried again, and again, but there was still no answer. Instead this time he tried M.J. Y/N would for sure be with her after the fight, she would want to be with her friend. Peter called his friend and waited for her to pick up.
“Peter? Why are you calling me so early?” M.J.’s voice was groggy, like she just woke up.
The hero furrowed his eyebrows, “Uh- It’s almost noon, M.J.” He shook his head, “Is Y/N there with you?” He asked. There was suilence but then she answered,
“Nope, she’s not.” Peter didn’t say anything else, he just hung up and went to grab his shoes. He ran into his desk as he went to his closet, the sound of metal hitting the wood made him look down. He squinted, leaning down and picking up the ring that he had given Y/N. She left the ring, something she loved almost as much as she loved him.  “Shit.” Peter mumbled, standing up and shoving the ring into his pants pocket. If Y/N wasn’t answering her phone, and she wasn’t with M.J., then he would just go to her apartment to check on her.
As Peter walked down the streets of New York, he could hear the faint sound of people talking, lots of people were talking. Peter walked closer to where the individuals were, his eyes widening as he took in the sight. A truck was knocked over on its side, glass sprayed out across the street and side walk, then near one of the stores was a pool of drying blood.
“What happened here?” He asked one of the people standing near him.
“Some girl was hit by the truck, it through her straight into that wall over there. Poor thing was unconscious as soon as the truck hit her.” The person said sadly as they looked over at the wall. Something caught Peter’s eye. It was a phone, Y/N’s phone to be exact.
“No- no, no, no.” He picked up the phone and sprinted, heading to the main trauma care hospital. With his enhanced speed, and then adrenaline on top of that, he was at the hospital in seconds and then at the front desk.
“How can I help you?” The lady behind the desk asked, not bothering to look at the teen boy who stood in front of her. “Did a girl come in here by ambulance? She was hit by a semi-truck?” Peter asked frantically. The woman looked up and nodded, “Where is she? She’s my girlfriend.”
“She’s in room 215-” The lady didn’t even finish her sentence before Peter was running down the hall, going to find that room.
It took him about 15 minutes to find her room, but he secretly wished he never had. On that uncomfortable hospital bed, laid his loving girlfriend Y/N, a tube stuck down her throat, I.V. and blood pumping through her body. She had a bandage wrapped around her head, blood clear as day staining one side of it. Peter fell to the ground, knees buckling under his own weight.
“Y/N/N, Y/N, baby.” Peter whispered as he crawled towards her, hands outreached to touch her cold skin. “No, baby.” He whimpered. Her skin was nearly ice cold, skin pale and graying.
This was his fault. If he just would have talked to her instead of ignoring her she wouldn’t be laying in that bed, stuck in an endless sleep. Peter cried silently, trying not to make a single sound that he wasn’t found. He just wished he could take it back, take it all back and talk to her.
“Sir, are you alright?” A nurse walking by had asked him. Peter gave a slow, almost barely noticeable nod of his head. The nurse walked off after that, and Peter was left alone with his girlfriend.
Through a storm of tears and sniffling Peter mumbled out, “I’m sorry baby, I’m so so sorry. I didn’t mean what I said, you’re my whole world and even more. I love you so much you have no idea. I’d do anything for you, anything.” He whispered. His voice was cracking from being such an emotional wreck. “I’m sorry.”
Peter sat there on the floor for a few more minutes before he began looking for her file. It had to be in the room right? Something about Y/N’s condition had to be in the room. The hero searched and searched, until he found just a small piece of paper sitting in a basket connected to her heart monitor.
Status - Coma, Persistent vegetative state.
Now Peter really wished he could take it all back.

Oh okay, Erasmus is actually cool!(10.21)
Last thursday was probably one of the most important days since I have been here. I had class at 1 pm, nothing extraordinary happened, it was actually pretty boring with some groupwork that we did not have enough time for...(I also should have had the magreb course in the evening but I skipped it).
In the evening there was a music session with the whatsapp group “erasmusicians”, we basically rented a rehearsal room for three hours and played some cool tunes (if somebody’s reading this who knows matus’ place it’s kinda the same, it’s just better and doesn’t smell like 40 years of smoking). It was interesting to experience how music can bring people together even if nobody plays the songs perfectly. On the other hand I really noticed the difference between this and how we used to play with my band, when everybody knows his part, when it’s all like a well oiled machine. Both are good in a different way. Ivan (local spanish guy who organizes these musical events) brought his electric guitar, an italian dude (David) brought his acoustic guitar, Celia (local spanish girl, also organizer) brought here electric piano, there was a drumkit, somebody had a bass guitar, and countless microphones. We played songs from Beatles, Nirvana, Gorillaz, Marilyn Manson, Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys and a bunch of more, the list goes on aand on. After this it was planned that we were gonna practice with Óscar separately (for the next Open Mic) but he had to cancel it so I went to get a beer with the rest of the group instead. We found a really cool tapas place that also had pool in the basement! We had a few drinks, played pool, I even played some Paramore songs with a spanish girl (a waiter was kind enough to turn down their music just so we could play). We had a good time and actually got kicked out at midnight cause the place was closing. I thought the night was gonna end here but no, we went to another place that’s basically a pool bar (if that’s even a thing)..We rented a table and played till about 2 am or so, it was proper fun! We played 2 vs 2, I was in a time with a british guy called Joe who’s from Birmingham, he’s a really nice guy! This italian dude talked me into helping to him with a course where he has to amplify instruments/somebody singing, so I will play him some songs (on his guitar) this thursday. I got home around 3 am...
On friday I was still so pumped cause of the previous night that I jumped right into learning some more spanish, started looking up how conjugation works, and thank God it doesn’t seem that ugly. In the evening I had the Magreb course. So, this course is twice a week (as all of them) on thursday there’s the lecture and on friday we should focus on the groupwork, the ted talk and essay that we gotta present in early november. For some reason we never really take the friday class very seriously, so we were mostly laughing about stupid sh1t. After that we went to get a beer and tapas, we (my groupmates, Adel, Óscar, Filip and his girl friend who came to visit him) went to a place called “Grifo y Tapas” (somebody recommanded this place to me, thanks for that!). Had some good times, laughs and whatnot. Filip had a really hard time learning my first name (I use Zsombor here, not many people knows about ‘Balint’ haha). After ordaring the first beer I noticed that Óscar and Adel are drinking something else, which looked much better than my beer (which I still don’t like, but fröccs is not a thing around here), Óscar gave me a sip and it was amazing, some syrup with wine. Or the other way. Wine with some syrup. Sweat! And the name of it is ‘Tinto de Verano’. It felt weird to be out for drinks two nights straight, but I think I’m starting to get the hang of this Erasmus vibe.
//Intermezzo\\
I feel more and more that I have people to talk to, we are getting to know each other, I experienced a change in my attitude (from generally negative to generally positive). I had a traning back in May that was supposed to prepare me for the erasmus thing and there was a graph about how people’s mood go from “ohmygod im here, it’s so cool” to a huge drop when everything is bad and it goes back up again as one gets used to things and starts to enjoy the whole thing. Cause of previous experience abroad I was 110% sure that I was gonna experience the same thing. Well either I only had the first high point for only a few hours after landing or I didn’t have it at all, I just had a bad mood most of the time when I was alone, and now it feels like I rather see things much more positively.
On saturday I had to make a hard decision between going bouldering or going for a ride, eventually I got out for a ride, which turned out to be a great decision (on sunday the weather got much colder). Ride was good, I spent most of the time making short videos of me riding. This meant finding a good section, practicing it for a bit and then putting down my phone on a safe place and doing it again on camera. I didn’t ride that much but I really enjoyed looking for good angles and places to have the best shots (you can see the video on facebook, but I think whoever’s reading this blog you probably have already seen it). For lunch/dinner I improvised and fried some potato in a pan alongside with some broccoli and zucchini, shredded some cheese on the top...I know what you think..It felt way too healthy..But I ate it! (just finished the leftovers today).
On sunday in the morning I went bouldering again. On saturday I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt for riding, on sunday morning I had to put on actual pants, a hoodie and a jacket!...Bouldering was great, bought an pass for 8 sessions, felt much better than on wednesday, climed some new routes, did some exercises for core muscles, and, before I forget, I ran into Filip and his friend, so I had some company. I keep trying to make my sentences shorter but I just love these “barokkosmagyarkörmondatok”...In the evening there was another erasmusician session, but in a pub this time ( actually same place where we were on thursday), It was great, a killer guitar player named Jeremy from the US and a girl (I think also from the US) with a beautiful voice, who’s name I totally forgot, joined us. Oh yeah, and a british dude with a violin! He played the main riff of Sweet child O’ Mine, it was mindblowing...After playing together for an hour or so we split up into smaller groups, each with a different musical style. I ended up with Matteo and Elena from Italy and a german girl who’s name I also forgot..Oops. We were playing Oasis songs, it was so much fun! (Matteo likes to speed things up a bit so I really had to try to keep the tempo..) At the evening we played some pool again, with Joe, and David.
Today (monday) I had my economic course. The faculty of economics is up on Campus Cartuja, which is on the mountain, and I always walk up there. Even though the weather was also colder today (14-15 degrees?) but sunny, I still ended up sweaty buy the time I got up there...Course was about oligopolies and monopolies, not very interesting but the teacher still managed to make it a bit less boring! (Hats off!). We got lunch with Oliver after the class, at the canteen close to this faculty. See the pic (probably) above. We analyzed how inefficient the whole service is, they just use way too much manpower..In the afternoon I did some maintenance on the bike, managed to the evening I joined Oliver on his run. I wasn’t running, no need to worry, I still hate it, I was riding my bike. He’s prepping for a half marathon this weekend and a full marathon in early december...He’s a fanatic let me tell you that...
That’s all folks!

Things to Consider Before Choosing an Pool Inverter Heat Pump
Tumblr media
Most people would consider pool heating to be "expensive," both to install and maintain. With inverter heat pumps, this is no longer the case because they gradually raise and lower their output to control the water's temperature rather than going on and off like some other pool heating options.
What is inverter technology?
A heat pump equipped with inverter technology can adapt its energy use to the actual demands of the pool. Compressors and fans adjust their operating intensities to only deliver the energy required to heat the water. The heat pump will use less electricity as a result. A higher COP will be provided by a heat pump with an inverter compressor and effective heat exchangers. The heat pump's efficiency is determined by its COP (Coefficient of Performance). The heat pump is efficient and optimal if the COP is high.
How An Inverter Heat Pump Works
An inverter variable speed compressor is a unique technology that uses a variable speed compressor that modulates its output, increasing or decreasing its speed to match exactly the heat demand requirements of the pool as the outdoor air temperature changes. When demand is low, the heat pump lowers its output, reducing the amount of power used, the strain on its parts, and the number of start cycles.
The Inverter technology allows set temperatures to be reached and maintained more precisely and efficiently than other heating systems, so that you can optimize your heating with the lowest operating costs possible.
However, choosing efficient inverter heat pumps is troublesome when confronted with various choices.
So, here is a guide to things you should consider before choosing the pool inverter heat pump-
1. Coefficient of Performance (COP)
The COP is a key feature to think about if you're looking to buy a premium inverter pool heat pump. Inverter heat pumps are often rated using a ratio called the COP. It talks about how efficient inverter heat pumps are. The higher the COP, the better the outcome from the product with higher efficiency, lower energy consumption and lower operating costs. The COP is always provided in kW (kilowatts). The ideal range for the coefficient of performance should generally be above 10, which denotes lower power consumption and less impact on the environment.
2. Performance
People worry that heat pumps will increase their expenses and put a strain on their wallets. With an inverter swimming pool heat pump, it's not the case. An effective inverter pool heat pump should reduce the compressor's speed once it achieves the desired temperature. By doing this, the machine's use time will be cut, resulting in reduced energy consumption. The inverter swimming pool heat pump uses the most recent technology and may be applied to a variety of situations to reduce operating expenses. The long run cost of the investment is reasonable.
3. Operation
Easy and quiet operation are essential elements you should consider when buying inverter heat pumps. An inverter pool heat pump has further support, such as programs you may download on your smartphone to regulate your pool's temperature. You only need to make a few clicks to regulate the process, you don't need to leave the house to operate the mechanism manually. In order to give you a calm environment, a high-quality product should also have a low noise level.
In recent years, it appears that heat pumps are becoming more popular as a means of achieving a low-carbon construction industry. Because they can provide cooling, heating, and hot water, inverter heat pumps are a great choice for residential buildings, including single- and multi-family homes. And not just for brand-new structures.

Energy-saving comparison of INVERPAC inverter heat pump
Two days ago, we received a consultation from a customer. He built a swimming pool in the yard, which is 7 meters long, 4 meters wide, 1.5 meters high, and about 42 cubic meters. In order to increase the use of the swimming pool, he considered buying a swimming pool heating system. The question is should you buy an electric heater or an INVERPAC air energy pool heat pump?
Let's do some calculations first and look at the energy consumption of the pool. The temperature maintenance of the swimming pool is usually divided into two stages. The first stage is heating, which heats the swimming pool water temperature to the target temperature; the second stage is constant temperature, which maintains the swimming pool water at the target water temperature.
The customer said that the swimming pool heat pump is mainly used in spring and autumn. The weather temperature and water temperature are assumed to be 15℃, and how much should the swimming pool water temperature be maintained? Calculated according to the international standard at 28℃.
Let’s first calculate the swimming pool heating stage, from 15℃ to 28 ℃, a total of 13℃ of water temperature needs to be raised.
It takes 4190 kj to raise 1 cubic degree of water by 1 degree Celsius, or 1.16KWH.
To raise 42 cubic meters of pool water by 13℃, the heat required is:
1.16KWH X 13 X42 = 633.36KWH
According to the recommendations of the International Swimming Pool Association, the heating of swimming pool should preferably be completed within 48 hours. Every day, the water temperature of the swimming pool will be affected by various factors and will be lost, such as wind speed, whether there is a pool cover, whether the swimming pool is insulated, the heat transfer of the water, etc. Let’s calculate it at a daily loss of 12%.
Then the total heat required to heat from 15℃ to 28℃ in 2 days is:
633.36KWH X (1+12%+12%)=785.37 KWH
2 days is 48 hours, that is, the energy cost required per hour:
785.37KWH / 48 = 16.36KWH
That is, the customer only needs a swimming pool heating system with a heat output of not less than 16.36KWH per hour to meet his needs.
With traditional electric heating, 20% of the electricity loss is considerable. If it needs to generate no less than 16.36KWH of heat per hour, it needs to consume 20KWH per hour.
If the customer chooses the pool heat pump of INVERPAC Turbo 25. How much will that save? In fact, looking at the swimming pool heat pump, in addition to the workmanship, the accessories, and the feeling of use, the most important thing is the COP of the swimming pool heat pump. COP refers to the ratio of the heating capacity to the power consumption. The operating principle of the swimming pool heat pump is to absorb heat from the air, and then transfer it to the water, so as to heat the swimming pool, and the swimming pool heat pump needs electricity to start, consumes 1KWH of electricity, and can generate 5KWH of heat, then the COP is 5, so The higher COP, the more heat is produced under the same consumption, and the more energy-saving it is.
The heat pump of INVERPAC Turbo series has a COP of 5.52 when the water temperature is 15℃ and the ambient temperature is 15℃. If we choose INVERPAC TURBO 25, in TURBO mode, it can generate 18KWH of heat per hour, and in this case, The COP of INVERPAC TURBO 25 is about 5.5, that is, for every 1KWH of electricity consumed, 5.5KWH heat can be produced, and the output of 16.36KWH is only required 3KWH of electricity, which is far lower than the 20KWH of electric heater.
Just heat for 2 days (48 hours) and save energy with the INVERPAC TURBO 25 pool heat pump
 (20-3KWH)*48hours= 816KWH
What is the electricity cost in your city? Can you calculate how much electricity you can save in just 2 days?

Mike Savage New Canaan | How to Save Money on Your Car
Most individuals are obliged to invest a great part of their earnings on their auto(s) for the whole period of their grown-up lives. From the purchase rate to maintenance prices, ever-increasing gas rates, and also insurance policy costs, the expenses are countless and also usually seem to exceed the advantages of possessing an automobile. Yet in a Catch 22 circumstance, the majority of us need an auto to get to work. This article will detail some methods to conserve cash on car costs.
 Buying a Cars and truck:
 1. Comparison shopping:
Keep an open mind when you set out to buy a vehicle, as well as be prepared to check out various choices. Contrast suppliers, makes, versions, completely. While this bores, it will certainly increase your opportunities of conserving money as well as driving home in the auto you desire. Usage Kelley Directory as a recommendation indicate inspect if you are obtaining a reasonable cost or not.
 2. Consider acquiring a used car.
An auto that has been utilized also for a number of years prices substantially less than its new equivalent of the same make as well as model. Besides, unlike an utilized car, the value of a new vehicle drops substantially the 2nd you buy it, so a used vehicle might be a much better alternative if you prepare to offer it in the future.
 3. Hang on to your flight:
It's an excellent idea to maintain your automobile for as long as possible. You lose cash on low trade-in values when you change cars and trucks in a short amount of time. A reliable, high quality car ought to stand by you for the great part of a years, so invest once and for all.
 4. Be functional:
If saving cash is your purpose, than functionality needs to be your concern, not appearance. Purchase a trusted, practical, mechanically sound automobile instead of blowing a fortune on something that looks excellent but won't provide you respectable mileage.
 Maintenance:
 1. Maintain your auto tuned:
A cars and truck that isn't on a regular basis or effectively tuned guzzles gas at a disconcerting price. You'll conserve money in the future by keeping it tuned.
Tumblr media
2. Oil and also air filters:
Cleaning your oil as determined by your proprietor's guidebook and also checking your air filter on a regular monthly basis will expand your engine's life significantly.

 3. Tires:
Check your tire pressure on a regular basis, and also have them stabilized a minimum of once a year. It's an effort yet you'll be conserving money in gasoline gas mileage as well as avoiding damages to your suspension.
 Buying Gas:
 1. Self Serve:
Pumping your own gas is 5-10 % cheaper than having someone do it for you. Spread out the difference across the span of a year, multiply that quantity by all the years you'll be driving and also you'll be shocked at how much you'll save over time.
 2. Don't copulate:
Topping off your storage tank can lead you to shed gas if you are parked on a slope or imaginable due to the fact that the gas may overflow.
 3. High quality:
Do not buy the cheapest gasoline available. Your auto deserves much better. Your engine will certainly experience if you buy a lower quality than advised, which will cost you more than you saved money on gas over time. Nonetheless, there is no need to spring for superior top quality unless your hand-operated recommends it.
 Driving
 1. Play by the policies:
Speeding up tickets, crashes, defaults of any kind of kind are costly mistakes whichever method you look at it. Not just will the real penalties and also repair work (or deductible, if you have collision insurance coverage) be costly, but your insurance premiums are most likely to increase as a result of these errors. Review your driving skills as well as comply with traffic laws because a tidy record implies reduced cars and truck insurance policy rates.
 2. Carpool:
This is a clever thing to do since you'll have the ability to enter the car-pool lane and also if you split the prices, both you and also your companion will be saving cash on gas.
 3. Taking advantage of your gas:
The way you drive impacts your vehicle's fuel use. Accelerating gently and also sparingly, driving at a continuous rate (not also rapid and not too slow-moving), transforming your a/c unit off when it's not needed are all ways to guarantee you're getting one of the most out of your gas.
 4. Melt some calories:
Consider strolling, biking and even running if your location is not as well far away. This is beneficial to your health and wellness, your atmosphere and also your pocketbook. As well as if you do not wish to function your body, try public transportation.
 Insurance coverage
 1. Selecting an insurance provider:
Do not go for an insurance policy provider simply due to the fact that it supplies you an economical price. If it's an unknown, unreliable business, you will regret it when you need to make an insurance claim. Obtain vehicle insurance prices estimate from understood, trustworthy, well established service providers; you'll be conserving money over time. An insurance company with a reputation to secure and also the ways to pay is more probable to manage your insurance claims correctly.
 2. Protection:
Limiting your protection to the minimum state requirement is foolish and also inadequate. Unless your automobile more than one decade old, you should ideally have crash, thorough, underinsured vehicle driver protection (UIM), uninsured motorist (UM) insurance coverage, and personal injury defense (PIP), besides the responsibility insurance coverage needed. Having comprehensive auto insurance coverage can save you a lot of money in case of an accident. One method of saving cash is combining your home and also auto insurance under the exact same insurance protection.
 3. Price cuts:
Several insurance companies provide discounts, which can substantially decrease your prices. Some of the typical auto insurance coverage discounts consist of protective motorist's credit history, good trainee price cut, theft-protection price cut, airbag security price cut, etc.
With these pointers, you'll conserve money from the minute you buy your auto, till the last insurance policy repayment you ever before make. In the future, that's probably enough to spend for 4 years of university, a retired life fund, or perhaps a new car! So be useful, beware, and drive secure.
