Things I love about the ST fandom

Of course there are plenty of things I don’t love seeing from Sleep Token fans… but those things get complained about all the time. Of course it’s fair to complain about these things but positives are good too. Every fandom has That Side that nobody likes. What about all the amazing things that we see all the time?

Here’s a list of things I love about this fandom :D

1. When we put a “V” in place of the first letter of something related to Vessel.

Vose. Veet. Veeth. Please never stop doing this because I love seeing this, it’s so funny for some reason.

2. We all call IV “IVy”

It’s fun and I love that nickname. And it rolls off the tongue so much better than “Four 😐”.

3. Our collective obsession over that damn flamingo

I love how none of us have shut up about that flamingo since with was first shown with the smhtdf website. There’s even some theories that it’s actually important in some way/connected to the lore which is pretty fun :D

4. The Fanart

…Oh my god the fanart.

There are so many amazing artists across so many different platforms making some beautiful artworks! I’ve seen digital art, paintings, cosplays, animations, even stickers and plushies. This fandom is so creative and I love it.

5. Vessel from the older stuff (One and Two EPs) is Baby Vessel

I don’t think I can explain this one but I don’t think I need to. Baby Vessel.

6. The amount of love and support I see for the band

Fanart, signs at rituals, Projekt Atlantic/Euclid, and just the way that fans show their admiration for the band. I love how we’re all making sure that the band knows they’re loved. :)

Honestly I could list so many more things. Maybe I will later but that’s all I’m gonna put here for now. But also feel free to add some things! :D

I love hearing about your anecdotes and just your experience with this whole trans thing. You make me feel like im not alone and that there is hope even if life is dookie bum fart. I currently live in a VERY red and unaccepting neighborhood and am constantly teased for being an "emo lesbian" if i see someone who used to know me in middle school, god forbid. Thanks for this, Alejandro! I'll admit I teared up a bit. It's nice hearing how much my art means to others! I've been In a bit of a rut artistically this last month. To know that you and others not only like what i make but keep going back to it, puts my mind at ease. I wish I could post more often, but alas, I must work.

I'm sorry you live in an unaccepting environment. It's hard enough as an adult, I can't imagine how hard it must be as a trans kid. The fact that you are so sure of yourself so young leaves no doubt in my mind that you'll survive, though. If no one else believes in you, at the very least, believe in yourself. It makes life much more bearable. The good thing is, you're not alone! The world is filled with good people around every corner. People who will accept you without debate. People who will love you unconditionally. But you have to find them, and you have to let them know you, and that's the scary part.

Don't wait to make those comics. Do it now! Even if the anatomy is off and the lineart is shitty. The world needs more art, especially from folks like you! The scramratz comics started as doodles from the psych ward.

Just start, man. Start now and you'll be a pro before you're my age.

Fun little theories and such from the new stuff :D

1.

This is a screenshot from one of the glitches at the end of the Emergence music video. Because of the green, black and gold colours I think that maybe they have something to do with House Veridian? Others have theorised that the soldier is Vessel though.

But something I want to point out is the creature in the glitch looks like the creature on Ascensionism’s artwork… with the soldier’s helmet.

Could be a coincidence… but you never know.

2. The album follows Vessel after he recognises and accepts that Sleep is the way that they are. This is his attempt to leave that situation, but maybe he’s stopped or challenged by Sleep, either physically, or by memories of all the good that came from their relationship, and he’s hesitant to leave it all behind and believes that maybe he could change their ways? If it’s the latter, I believe that in the end it will fail and he’ll recognise that. Alternatively it could be about revenge, which was a popular theory before the website was even set up. Or maybe multiple of these things could happen.

I don’t know much about this kind of thing but apparently Arcadia (kind of like Eden?) is like a paradise, resembling peace and harmony with nature. The album title being “Even in Arcadia” could hint towards Sleep having followed him even after his attempts to leave. Even in Arcadia, Sleep follows.

3. The mask.

Insane new look aside I think that maybe it represents something.

See how it’s covering just a little less of his face? You’ve probably heard this theory countless times before but I do believe that it means that Sleep is slowly losing control over him. If he ever does reveal his identity (I don’t think he will, but if he does) it won’t be until the mask completely “wears away” and he’s out of Sleep’s grasp. And I think that if that ever happens, it’ll probably be the last thing the band does before they retire.

Or, the mask never comes off. It could potentially represent the fact that even after escaping from a traumatic situation, after scars heal, this event will always stay with you. Even when you break the cycle, when you find peace, you’ll never forget what came before it. I think that’s an important message.

Anyway those are my thoughts :)
