[and when i reblog this i am not referring to "annoying" as in silly or loud or awkward or cringe or whatever. i mean "annoying" as in acting immature and petty and rude and unnecessarily vitriolic]
i dont mind when people are annoying online bc i remember back when i was 14 and so annoying online and its fun to be young and not know how to act we've all been there. Checks bio. oh theyre older than me

Just saw something lowkey a lil confusing (to me at least) on someone’s pinned post so don’t mind me rambling a bit lol
So, I was looking at this person’s blog to see if they’re someone I’d want to follow and since they’d recently gained a lot of followers they had a pinned post outlining some ground rules. One of those ground rules was asking minors not to follow them because they post nsfw sometimes. Perfectly reasonable, makes complete sense. They also say that they’ll be blocking any minors they find following them, which again, reasonable (if a bit more effort than I personally would be willing to go to). The part that confuses me is how they define minor cause it’s not having the word “minor” in your bio. Specifically, their definition is no age in bio, no bio, and if they think you’re a minor. Which confuses me, because. My understanding is that minors are a hell of a lot more likely to have their ages in their bios than adults are. Like, not only are minors less likely to recognize the danger of having such sensitive information on broadcast since their brains aren’t done cooking yet, but like. Kids today straight up aren’t being taught the same internet safety rules that used to be common sense. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen internet elders all but begging their underage followers to stop broadcasting all their vulnerabilities for the whole world to see. Desperately trying to get these kids to understand that telling the entire internet that they’re a suicidal preteen with neglectful parents and no support system is practically inviting creeps to swoop in and take advantage of them. And like, for a lot of us who were raised with the habit of never letting strangers on the internet know our age, that safety measure is something we never outgrew. Like, I may be a wholeass adult but like hell am I gonna give whatever asshole happens upon my blog information that could potentially be used to hurt me on a silver platter. Frankly, the only piece of information regarding my age anyone on the internet could possibly need is that I’m over eighteen, and even that I tend to say as needed, not publicly broadcasted as part of my bio. Idk man, that’s just not something every random person on the internet needs to know.
Tldr; saw someone claiming that anyone who doesn’t include their age in their bio would be blocked from their 18+ blog for probably being a minor, and that just seems counterintuitive when everything I’ve seen abt changing internet safety trends (and lack thereof) says that adults are far more likely to leave that out of their bio than kids are

i’m going to make things clear since i just got this notification from this ignorant piece of shit.
Tumblr media
i don’t like to block people often, but at this point, i’ll just use the block button liberally since i keep seeing dark blogs following me. if i kick you from following me, you’re likely ignoring something on my dni. you should care about creators’ boundaries, you know; don’t just open up their masterlist and follow them without looking over their dni. a lot of us check your blogs to see who you follow and what you reblog.
my dni list is clear, and i’ve answered a few questions about it since updating it. wholeass adults that have eyes in their heads should be able to read and follow my guidelines that i have set in place. if you’re following me and you have something along the lines of ‘minors dni, 18+ nsfw/dc blog’ in your bio, i don’t want you fucking following me. it’s that simple.
my dni list is right there for you to read and abide by. at this point, i’m just gonna fucking block you. i’m not gonna send you an ask telling you to unfollow me because you aren’t heeding my guidelines that i have set in place to protect myself and my community. you’re an adult. i shouldn’t have to baby your ass.
to the asshole who sent this, you’re blocked now.
FAQ:
where is your dni?
it’s on my carrd, right here. please read it, it’s only 1 short paragraph.
i’m under 16, but i’m still a teen, can i interact with you?
yes, you can; i don’t know how to make this more clear, but if you run a 16+, 17+, or 18+ blog which interacts with/consumes dark content or nsfw, do not interact with me. don’t send me asks, don’t follow me, don’t reblog my work, do not like my work.
what do you mean by -13 or +20?
if you’re under 13, don’t interact with me (like, follow, reblog, send asks) and if you’re over 20, don’t interact with me. mutuals are exempt from this policy.
