[and when i reblog this i am not referring to "annoying" as in silly or loud or awkward or cringe or whatever. i mean "annoying" as in acting immature and petty and rude and unnecessarily vitriolic]
i dont mind when people are annoying online bc i remember back when i was 14 and so annoying online and its fun to be young and not know how to act we've all been there. Checks bio. oh theyre older than me
#i'm pro-cringe#but anti ''treating fandom like it's Serious Business. and using the internet to be the bully you never got to be in middle school''#and then there's the FAR worse version of this phenomenon#wherein you see someone like. call a teenaged fictional character attractive or something#and you're like oh yes. op must be a teenager themselfâ probably around the character's age#but you look at their bio and they are A Wholeass Adult.#how do u look at teenaged characters and feel things other than like#''i want to be their cool auncle and take them to burger king (bc i am too poor for mcdonalds)''

Just saw something lowkey a lil confusing (to me at least) on someoneâs pinned post so donât mind me rambling a bit lol
So, I was looking at this personâs blog to see if theyâre someone Iâd want to follow and since theyâd recently gained a lot of followers they had a pinned post outlining some ground rules. One of those ground rules was asking minors not to follow them because they post nsfw sometimes. Perfectly reasonable, makes complete sense. They also say that theyâll be blocking any minors they find following them, which again, reasonable (if a bit more effort than I personally would be willing to go to). The part that confuses me is how they define minor cause itâs not having the word âminorâ in your bio. Specifically, their definition is no age in bio, no bio, and if they think youâre a minor. Which confuses me, because. My understanding is that minors are a hell of a lot more likely to have their ages in their bios than adults are. Like, not only are minors less likely to recognize the danger of having such sensitive information on broadcast since their brains arenât done cooking yet, but like. Kids today straight up arenât being taught the same internet safety rules that used to be common sense. I canât tell you how many times Iâve seen internet elders all but begging their underage followers to stop broadcasting all their vulnerabilities for the whole world to see. Desperately trying to get these kids to understand that telling the entire internet that theyâre a suicidal preteen with neglectful parents and no support system is practically inviting creeps to swoop in and take advantage of them. And like, for a lot of us who were raised with the habit of never letting strangers on the internet know our age, that safety measure is something we never outgrew. Like, I may be a wholeass adult but like hell am I gonna give whatever asshole happens upon my blog information that could potentially be used to hurt me on a silver platter. Frankly, the only piece of information regarding my age anyone on the internet could possibly need is that Iâm over eighteen, and even that I tend to say as needed, not publicly broadcasted as part of my bio. Idk man, thatâs just not something every random person on the internet needs to know.
Tldr; saw someone claiming that anyone who doesnât include their age in their bio would be blocked from their 18+ blog for probably being a minor, and that just seems counterintuitive when everything Iâve seen abt changing internet safety trends (and lack thereof) says that adults are far more likely to leave that out of their bio than kids are
#the snek rambles#long post#internet safety#PLEASE for the love of god kids. stop telling everyone you come across that youâre young#all a creep hears when you say that is âIâm vulnerable and easy to manipulateâ

iâm going to make things clear since i just got this notification from this ignorant piece of shit.Â
i donât like to block people often, but at this point, iâll just use the block button liberally since i keep seeing dark blogs following me. if i kick you from following me, youâre likely ignoring something on my dni. you should care about creatorsâ boundaries, you know; donât just open up their masterlist and follow them without looking over their dni. a lot of us check your blogs to see who you follow and what you reblog.
my dni list is clear, and iâve answered a few questions about it since updating it. wholeass adults that have eyes in their heads should be able to read and follow my guidelines that i have set in place. if youâre following me and you have something along the lines of âminors dni, 18+ nsfw/dc blogâ in your bio, i donât want you fucking following me. itâs that simple.
my dni list is right there for you to read and abide by. at this point, iâm just gonna fucking block you. iâm not gonna send you an ask telling you to unfollow me because you arenât heeding my guidelines that i have set in place to protect myself and my community. youâre an adult. i shouldnât have to baby your ass.
to the asshole who sent this, youâre blocked now.
FAQ:
where is your dni?
itâs on my carrd, right here. please read it, itâs only 1 short paragraph.
iâm under 16, but iâm still a teen, can i interact with you?
yes, you can; i donât know how to make this more clear, but if you run a 16+, 17+, or 18+ blog which interacts with/consumes dark content or nsfw, do not interact with me. donât send me asks, donât follow me, donât reblog my work, do not like my work.
what do you mean by -13 or +20?
if youâre under 13, donât interact with me (like, follow, reblog, send asks) and if youâre over 20, donât interact with me. mutuals are exempt from this policy.
