fantastic rebuttal to "writers don't deserve better pay because the stuff they write is terrible/unoriginal", full thread here
(to explain, the "Unknown" under his name is from a add-on bot detector; it usually can assign a percentage likelihood that a user is a human being and not a bot, but I think the blue check system disrupted the add-on so it says "Unknown" underneath his name now.)

With #WGAStrong rightfully in the spotlight this week, I've seen some less-than-sympathetic comments focusing on the lack of originality in our projects. This is a fair criticism of the system, but not the writers. A quick history of how we got here (thread emoji)
The first thing to understand is that Hollywood has NOT run out of new ideas. The studio’s preference for I.P. has nothing to do with regurgitating ideas and everything to do with MARKETING.
The late 60s-70s is generally considered the artistic high of the studio system. Ironically, many contribute this to corporations buying up the studios! The corporations knew they had no idea how to run a movie studio, so... they put creative people in charge.
This is how you got the run of so many great films the studios would never make today. They also took bigger chances on young, promising talent (the first "film school generation" of filmmakers.)
But with the success of JAWS and STAR WARS, the corporations demanded more of those kinds of hits. The creative folks insisted such things were unpredictable, and the business folks said let's make them less so.
(Sidenote: This was also the same time a completely different phenomenon was happening. A/C was becoming the norm for theatres, making summer movie-going much more attractive.)
Over the next decade, more and more MBAs and marketing people gained influence in the studio system. Being business folks, huge hits were not a creative problem as much as a product/marketing problem.
The 80s is when the “high concept” became pre-eminent because it narrowed a sales pitch to one sentence, a trailer, and a poster. This made everyone a marketing agent for a movie because everyone could explain what it was about!
In the 90s, marketing became just as important as the film itself (reflected in their respective budgets) when Hollywood discovered they could profit from fifty years of pre-existing awareness for old TV shows and movies.
This allowed the marketing department to move away from pitching a movie and convincing you to go see it (lower success rate), to simple “audience awareness” and building anticipation. (higher success rate.)
The audience knew what THE FLINSTONES the movie was. They just needed to know the casting and when it opened. No one needed to have the remake of GODZILLA explained to them. They just needed to know when it opened.
The marketing department prefers AWARNESS over SELLING because awareness is something you can throw money at. Selling is harder, and it’s less predictable. This is why franchises are so valuable.
Whenever someone says, “That’s something I can sell!” It’s usually something that can sell itself. What they mean is, "I just have to let people know about this!"
Hollywoods's reliance on property the audience is already familiar with is 100% because... the audience is already familiar with it. It is easier to market the product and this increases its chances of success.
This focus on I.P. has become so pervasive, many, including executives themselves, have forgotten WHY it's valuable. They'll option an unknown comic BECAUSE it's I.P., forgetting that it's unknown and lacks the main asset of I.P.
Writers do love writing on an I.P. that means something to them. Every Star Wars fan who became a filmmaker would love to work in that universe. But we do not love it more than our own original work. We would always rather work on that.
So when you see another remake, or reboot, or adaptation, and think, "Can't they come up with something new?"
Remember, the answer is yes. Yes, we can. And we want to. You can blame the market or the marketing, but either way, the widespread production of truly original content is just not the studio business model we're in right now. #WGAStrong

Hello everyone.
This will be a rather long post about some things I wanna adress, including the fact that I plan to stop writing for Pressure, my OCS and other peoples Ocs in the near future.
Down under the cut is a list with my personal view, issues and some other things that lead to this decision. Maybe I miss a lot or don't go too deep into detail but the main points are covered.
But before I would like to add that this is MY opinion and MY choice. I let you think of it what you want but I also request that you respect my actions.
The first point is probably already clear from the start. Maybe some noticed, maybe not but I fell out of love with the fandom and the game itself. It became boring to play, the characters lost their charm and I can't come up with any creative scenarios anymore and the ones that already exists have lost their meaning. This may sound like the typical burnout thing and maybe it is but I'm more than certain that I wanna step away from the game and the fandom to focus on other things that bring me more joy. Maybe I start a multifandom writing blog or I just learn another hobby.
The second thing that is close connected to the first point is the fandom of the game, including the community on tumblr. A huge part are super sweet people with a very creative side. I would go as far and say that I brought some of those together with my projects and writing and it really makes me happy to see everyone interact so friendly on my blog.
But something that I haven't adressed is the fact that there are also plenty of hardcore fans, haters and weird people in my askbox or general in the fandom. It is to be expected when someone gains a massive amount of followers. But I do not accept the fact that people judge me based on what I write, who I write for, when I write and if I write at all. I delete those asks. Some telling me that my community project is awful, unserious and pulls other ocs into dirt. Other people are claiming that I don't write Sebastians Character right and oh wow seriously? I am not Sebastians creator, I do not have that ultimate deep lore and mindset to write a person 1:1. I get hate for my own stories and of course the fans could now come to my protetion and say „But Chea don't listen to the haters, you are amazing“ but it doesn't fix the thing in a slightest.
Also regards the people that praise me, some of them ( I won't name anyone) are counting to those weird people that force me. There were 2 or 3 people that acted all sweet in public only to try and take control of some story plots etc.
Also, I started writing when Pressure was first raising to be popular. There weren't many pressure writers out there. I am usually not someone that posts their work online, I don't comment on stuff and I rarely like something. But I really wanted to see more pressure fanfictions. Now we reached the point where there are more than plenty amazing writers and I can quit. There is no need for me to continue something that only makes me hate myself more because everytime I open my notes to write a story for pressure it feels like a mental torture. I leave the writing to the other blogs.
The status for now:
AASB gets discontinued.
Reverse AU gets discontinued.
Streamer AU will recieve 6 more chapters to end the story on a good term.
House of Entities will get continued for a small period of time, probably till I am done with the Streamer AU. There is no plan for the chapter count yet.
All requests in the inbox will get deleted and the inbox itself will be closed after Streamer AU finished.
Any other unnamed project will get discontinued as well.
All stories, one shots, series, drabbles and other works of mine are free to use. Other authors can pick them up, re-write them or just make an own story out of those. I drop all rights for the ideas and I won't demand any credits either. Maybe someone else would like to continue House of Entities as well.
My final word, which may sound repeating: I do not change my opinion, there won't be any motivation talks or sugar coated words that will change my stand in those things. I know some of you will try and comfort me but this is really not needed. I wish for you all to accept the outcome of this situation and move on more or less.
I apologize dearly because this is very sudden and I hope you all will understand.
-Chea

He has a way with em
Wade Wilson, the man NOBODY thought would make it to the X mansion as a recrute let alone WORK there. Now don't get him wrong he still works alone he made that ABUNDENTLY clear, he told scott to his perfectly chiselled face ("he was crafted by a greek god I'm telling you!!" shut up wade) that he was only there because logan asked him to be, the same went for logan, he was content in his one bedroom apartment with wade and mary puppins (I mean c'mon once they started dating living with Al just got weird really fast) but the X man himself popped over and started talking his ear off before he could even close the door on him. Scott explained how they would love for logan to take over old logan's history class, he was going to tell him to fuck off and never step foot in his and his boyfriends apartment again but had an idea.
He agreed but said he'd be teaching physical education and building stamina instead of fucking history AND wade was allowed to join. It took a bit of back and forth but eventually they agreed. Wade had some of his own demands (that were begrudgingly met).
He doesn't worth FOR the X men, he was his own unit and helped out (he finds working solo and with his man is the best life for him).
NO ONE got to dictate what he taught those kids, have a problem? teach em yourself, wade is gone and that means so is logan.
the kids can actually call him wade (Mr Wilson just reminds him of his father and a hundred or so kids screaming that at him is a perfect recipe for a panic attack).
Other than this he was pretty happy to start imminently the next day, It took around about a week before they started their classes, wade now taught self defence claiming that mutant powers only got you so far and that sometimes the best weapon was a broken broomstick and a dream.
Everyone assumed he would take time to actually learn the ropes of being a teacher and would need some HEAVY guidance but they were pleasantly surprised (all but logan) at how much of a natural wade was at this.
He was firm yet fair on the kids, he taught them how to strategize and how to be unpredictable in their own movements so that their attackers couldn't strategize around them.
He even went above and beyond helping kids outside of lesson, being a safe haven for many children at the mansion, he became a fan favourite around all the kids, one girl even thought to design her own hero costume off of wade so that she could always look like her hero (if wade teared up- 1 no he didn't and 2 he gave her some pointers on how his own suit worked and how to adapt her suit to how SHE fights).
Another kid came out saying he wanted wade to started calling him by his chosen name and wade with a bright smile ripped up the register and made a whole new one with said kid and let the kid add his own name in and made sure to change his name in EVERY class, not just his own.
Wade also helps kids with nightmares and sneaks pads and snacks to the girls who skip his class as well as provide stuff for the kids on the sidelines, the kids favourite part about his class is when he brings in logan and they spar because wade has so much fun with it and logan never brings out the claws and wade allows logan to get so many hits in that he could block and they are so inlove it makes some of the kids sick.
He is also very open with the kids, when him and logan got engaged the kids found out first (besides al and all his friends), he also found great joy when some of the older kids teased him and called him Mr Howlett instead of wade, it was a great way to trip him up if you were doing a 1 on 1 spar with him.
so it was no surprise when kids were heading for X men training they immediately flocked to wade for guidance and support, normally the halls were bustling with students trying to find anyone apart of the X men to ask questions but now the busiest place was wade's office.
"Wow they must really like wade" storm made a passing comment an eyebrow raised as she watched Wade talk to a group of kids who nodded along and had pens out to make notes of what he said. Logan just smiled fondly "he has a way with em..."

Tinyformer! TFA Blitzwing is a handful, but once one learns about and understands the needs of each part of him he gets easier to handle.
Icy! Blitzwing is independent, and polite. He often spends time doing his own thing, but will fly up to you and stand nearby to watch whatever you're doing if you catch his interest. Icy spending time with you is often done in the form of him working on something in the same room as you. He will politely refuse head pats, but he will allow it if he thinks it'll make you feel better. He is Very quiet, and will 'accidentally' sneak up on you to chirp an inquiry about whatever it it that you're doing right now. He appears to be the most rational one, but frequently gets into arguments with Hothead.
Hothead! Blitzwing is Not a fan of pats, or touch in general unless it's necessary or he asked for it. (He needs uppies/downies sometimes when he wants to get to his perches. You will need to install little ladders.) Make no mistake however, he does, occasionally, want pats and will demand them. He is prone to throwing temper tantrums about most things, but will also throw tantrums at people that aren't kind to you. They will get singed. You will also wind up singed at some point. Be careful about how you scold him. Also fireproof the places he hangs out the most if you don't want the house to be lit aflame when you aren't keeping an eye on him.
Random! Blitzwing is Very affectionate, however, and also very loud. Has his own stuff to work on, but spends most of his time following you around and chatting with you. And laughing. Also very interested in what you're doing. Random may try to help, but he's not always gonna wind up making things easier for you. (Sometimes though. He's also good with helping you make choices. He can fly, but will often request uppies/downies anyways. He loves it when you put on music, because it gives him a chance to strut his stuff. You will need the music though, because he may freeze the floor to ice skate instead if not. (You slipping on the ice is an unintended side effect.)
Blitzwing's favorite kind of music depends on who's fronting right now. Random tends to prefer anything he can dance to. Icy prefers quiet instrumental tracks, and classical music. And Hothead prefers rock/metal music. Icy, and Hothead will argue about the kind of music that's playing. Random will try to mediate, but doesn't always succeed. You may need to turn the music off to keep the peace.
i have nothing to add to this because it is already perfect

So on Twitter, a post is going round of a lame fan fiction speculating the ending of Calvin & Hobbes. It's awful. It's completely out of character and tone with the story. It's basically Calvin giving Hobbes to his daughter. I don't really care to talk about it beyond the fact it exists, and commentary around it sparked Thoughts in my brain.
For those of you who don't know, the actual ending of the comic is intentionally open - they hop on their sled and go on another adventure. That's it. They are metaphorically frozen in time, and yet made perpetual, in this ending; there will always be more adventures. There is no ending - even as you grow up and stop being a child, childhood is always happening somewhere. It ends for us individually, but it marches on as a constant of human life. Calvin & Hobbes, the symbol of childhood that they are, shall remain as such long after those who were first raised on it when it was new have passed on.
The reason I'm here writing on this is I suddenly realized - this is a symptom of a wider societal swing in America. One which we've all seen but maybe not had pinned down. People who feel the compulsion, the URGE, to drag their childhood to their adulthood, and, because the people who want to do this tend to be miserable soulless people, they take that thing that gave them so much joy in their youth and rip out everything that made it so special to you as a kid, and make it as grey, realistic, and lifeless as you are.
This mindset is what leads to the live-action / hyper-realistic animation from Disney lately. Very Serious People want to watch The Lion King, but are embarrassed and ashamed of the film they loved as a kid. They still love it, but they need a "socially acceptable" way to watch it.
And that's where the "live action" remake comes in.
The advertising on this film brazenly declaring a CGI animated film as "live action" is the height of madness, until you remember - to call it animation is to call it "kid stuff." If they call it a CGI animated film, Very Serious People think of Minions.
They add Very Serious Nuance in the form of generational warfare between the hyenas and lions; in the form of Scar's desire for power being rooted in cucking Mufasa by claiming his wife Sarabi as his own. They make the animation Very Serious and, therefore, Realistic. So Realistic in fact that, really, to even call it """animation""" is an insult to what they're doing here.
(Even though animation is, obviously, objectively, what it is.)
The animals barely emote, showing less emotion than what even real animals can express, because emotional openness is, to these Very Serious People, bluntly:
C R I N G E.
So, they barely emote. The songs are still there, but they're almost all shambling putrid parodies of the original musical numbers. Favreau didn't even want half the songs to be in the movie; famously Be Prepared was a last-minute addition after mass public backlash - and it shows that it's a last-minute addition. It's barely even sung; more of a spoken word poetry thing than an actual song. Because I feel like either Jon Favreau, his executive overlords, or worse I SAY WORSE both treated the musical aspect of The Lion King as a necessary evil.
It's telling the only song they gassed up wasn't Elton John's new song at the end credits - it was BeyoncĂŠ's number, Spirit. A pop number awkwardly slapped on to a musical film apropos of nothing but Those Sales and That Sweet Academy Award for Best Original Song, Baby.
And of course, it worked; the film made over a billion dollars because the world is chock-full of Very Serious Adults who want to take their childhood with them into adulthood, but demand it grow up with them.
They want their childhood, but are embarrassed by that very desire.
We live, in short, in a teenaged society. A society that's matured only in body but not yet in mind.
This is, naturally, because so many of us are, ourselves, adults who only grew up in age.
Some grow wiser; some just get older - if I may paraphrase Paul Williams. And THAT'S the hell of it.
Moral of the story: stop being ashamed of the things you liked as a kid. You CAN take your childhood with you into your adulthood - in fact, it's good and healthy to (in moderation, I must stress; dont overcorrect.) You don't have to do this thing where you make these bumbling shambling homunculi of the things you loved, but without any of that cringeworthy "charm" or "color" or "fun". Learn to enjoy things on their own merits. Fuck realism in art - we have enough reality all around us to ignore, and no matter how hard you push realistic CGI, it'll be never be reality.

I also have something to add to this anon's ask https://www.tumblr.com/meraki-yao/743384157947920384/i-want-to-hear-your-opinion-on-this-please-if?source=share (your answer is perfect as always, so if I overstep, I'm sorry if I'm not organising my thoughts clearly here)
While I'm not in the fandom, I'm still a fan, which means I follow some people to keep up, and I'm interested in what Nick and Taylor will do next.
The thing here is that there's a group within Twitter fandom that's demanding more from Nicholas. And while they're aware of his need to promote two more projects, him signing books in LA and Milan when possible, leaving Taylor on his TikTok following list*, it's not enough.
Personally, most of these stans are being dramatic because they're not getting more. So, instead of being rational, they start to “joke around” (I'll come back to this later)** by saying Nick doesn't care, he moved on, he doesn't want to be part of a sequel, Taylor and him are not friends, and they bring up his personal life and socmed activity.
A part of me wants to think these people are very young and incredibly online, so they base everything around it, ignoring real-life interactions during their outbursts. Another part of me thinks they're shippers, which eventually ends up being problematic because they see their interactions through that lens. If they don't interact, they hate each other, they are just co-workers, or something happened between them. If they interact, they're besties, they love each other, or they are something else. Like, on socmed, there's no winning for them. It's intense. You cannot see all of that, read some nasty comments, and then say, “I miss when Nick was more active here.” Like, it's obvious why he doesn't want to be active.
I sent you an ask weeks ago about parasocial relationships, and I think these things go along those lines: Most of these people think they know them, they understand their reasoning, and while we do have snippets of their personalities, we don't know them. We're not their friends, and we cannot justify bullying and nasty comments as “it's just a joke, people take things too seriously” because you think it's nice to destroy someone else's work just because you don't get your Instagram likes.
I even read “Nicholas owes us more pictures and content. It's the least he can do.” And he did, for a few days. But he's an actor — he'll have more gigs and eventually RWRB will be another project dear to him. And so for Taylor. And Taylor is signing all these books and going to these events because can go, and most importantly, it was his first leading role. He's extremely proud of the project and of him as an actor. And he'll also move on eventually.
What's more annoying is that we're all aware of a sequel project, and just because Nick is not talking about it any more, they go, “He won't do it because he hates it/now he's too big,” not noticing that they're also implying that Taylor is “less important,” which he isn't. Matthew already said that if Taylor and/or Nick aren't on board, there won't be a sequel, but hardcore fans decide to ignore that part. Nick has never been part of a project this big that actually can have a decent sequel, so there's a big chance of him being part of it. He does care.
I think some people are just very dramatic, and they're not responsible about what they write. So, based on that, it's best to curate your experience as much as possible and recognize problematic accounts/takes on people immediately. Otherwise, it won't be enjoyable.
*I think Nick has been doing some cleaning (I think it's common for him, said by people who have followed him for a while) and he's working on more projects with awarded actors. I think that Taylor has become a good friend of his within the industry, which is good. They've also said Nick's socmed activity is very random and to not be taken seriously because he does a lot of random stuff, but then again, people ignore that.
**Usually these replies come when people start to point out that their comments are wrong, cross boundaries, etc. It's like a way to deflect. But you can tell that it's not really a joke if it's repetitive, which is what's happening right now.
I truthfully don't have much to add. Your points are absolutely spot on, and you organized it very clearly. Thank you for this.
I think I'll just one thing, I was talking to @pippin-katz about this whole rivalry issue, and they said the problem is these people want certain things from the boys, and when they don't get it, they become these violent, malicious comments.
We as fans are not in a position to dictate how they should live their lives. Frankly we're not in any position to dictate people how to live their lives, no one but our own. People need to realize this.
Again, thank you so much for your addition.

you know I gotta suggest Navarre for the character ask! and asahi if you’re feeling up to it :^D
Thank you so much!
favorite thing about them: I love how much PIZZAZ he adds to the early game! How can I not like a character with such a flamboyant, demanding personality whose very presence is enough to make everyone react with shock, contempt, laughter, and awe? Navarre is an ass, but a necessary ass to carry the early narrative and add so much excitement to it. I cannot help but giggle to myself everytime he appears. AND THEN, all that character growth in IVA towards becoming a better, more self-aware ghostie. Ohhh I love he so muuuch~
least favorite thing about them: Definitely the unnecessary perversion in IVA. Enough said.
favorite line: The "dawdling Casualries" line will always hold a special place in my heart, but I am also really fond of the stuff he says when you speak with him during the training drills in one of the rest spots,
"O-Oh, it's you… I thought you to be a demon. Don't start me so… I've never carried a blade any heavier than a knife before. If Mother were to see me dashing about with such a weapon in hand, I think that she would faint…"
And
"I landed a critical blow when I accidentally tripped… The next quest was much simpler, since as you might expect, money is no object to me. 'Twas actually easier than the first. But the final challenge all depends on one's strength, and that's a field I'm particularly lacking in… S-Someone else may have first place, I care not whom. Merely let this debacle of a training exercise be done with!"
brOTP: Nanashi and Navarre are best BROS!
Tumblr media
Bad edit aside, can't forget the actual bros, Navarre and Gaston lmao. I really enjoyed their sibling relationship and it opened up so much insight into their familial life and personal struggles. I'm so so happy they got to rekindle at the enddd, it was so sweet
OTP: Everyone knows that I am the sole resident of the Issachar x Navarre Crack Ship Kingdom!! Idgaf that they've never canonically met nor even know of each other's existence, the POTENTIAL between them is enough to keep me content and well fed! We support random rarepairs in this house!
Tumblr media
I also really like Flynn x Navarre too and they're my second fave Navarre ship, for much the same reasons!
nOTP: Needless to say, my NOtps would be pairing Navarre with his brother or any of the IVA kids. Eeeugh. Enough said.
random headcanon: It's something I've been wanting to analyze in more depth, and IDK how much of this is actually canon or headcanon considering, but I very much fancy the idea of Navarre always having close connections with the Samurai seniors and keeping close tabs on the Rite and new inductions. He's very astute with the going-ons in Samurai business and likely has been anxiously watching them for quite some time.
unpopular opinion: I understand that Navarre is a very unlikeable character, and he's supposed to be! But it honestly does get really bothersome seeing how much dismissal, if not outright hate, he gets in the fandom. Navarre IS an important character within the early game! It is his very antics that adds the necessary tension and tone needed to carry the early narrative and worldbuilding. It does admittedly make it hard for me to approach other SMTIV fans because I like this bean so much.
But that is okay. I am perfectly content with those who seek out, stick by, and enjoy my bean musings. :)
song i associate with them: Tbh I'm pretty bad at that sort of question, lol. I don't really have one for him right now, so pass? (Open to suggestions though! I want more tunes to listen to.)
favorite picture of them: SO MANY panels of him from the Prayers manga FOR REAL. He's SO expressive in that and has TONS of good moments!! But I am especially fond of the mini bonus chapter that features Navarre~
Tumblr media
Masataka Miura can agree: Navarre can have a little moment in the spotlight as a treat~
Thank you again so much for the ask! I think I've written quite at length here, lmao. I'm a bit tired now and I don't think I can fit Asahi here, but I could post hers later on!

Tagged by @aeide and @ainulindaelynn, thank you two!
1) How many works do you have on AO3? 22, so far.
2) What’s your total AO3 word count? 140,852
3) What fandoms do you write for? Quite a couple now! And amazingly I have even more unposted. The Hobbit, Fallout 4, The Old Guard, Supernatural, The Legend of Zelda, Full Metal Alchemist, Greedfall, BG3, Horizon: zero dawn, uhhhhh.
4) What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1 - Lingua Franca (by a landslide)
2 - Soil and Ashes
3 - Kitsukuroi
4 - what you call a thing is seldom what it is
5 - Prima Lingua (I was surprised this wasn't higher up given that its connected to Lingua Franca)
5) Do you respond to comments? I try really hard but usually end up responding very late in bursts. If you've commented on my work and haven't received a reply... i'm working on it. I will get there eventually. This is a turtle vs hare situation.
6) What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?...This is hard cause most of my fics are unfinished as of right now but.... I think Lacuna for posted but unfinished fics and uh. two of my so far unposted BG3 fics will take the running once they get posted.
7) What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? A lot of them could probably be considered the "happiest" mostly cause i usually make the characters go through the worst of it right before the resolution so comparatively they're happy. >.>
8) Do you get hate on fics? So far no, maybe the occasional pedantic comment that i just... ignore. I think LF was the only fic where I had to deal with that. Perks of being relatively small in fandoms.
9) Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Nah, not my cup of tea.
10) Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? The only one I've written I think is the Hob Gadling meets Sebastian Le Livre and become immortal drinking buddies. That's only been posted here on tumblr though.
11) Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not to my knowledge!
12) Have you ever had a fic translated? Not to my knowledge :)
13) Have you ever co-written a fic before? Nope, I'd be open to the idea of any of my writer buds want to try something low stakes for fun and giggles.
14) What’s your all time favorite ship? I'm not sure I could answer this one cause I'll immediately think of another ship the moment I try and define a favorite ship for 'all time'. Which is great cause there's so many good fandoms and ships out there, what a cool thing to never run out of.
15) What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I also am not a super big fan of this question cause sometime a fic needs years to crystalize into what its supposed to be and we're all doing this for fun/for free... sooooooo you get what you get, and WIPs aren't worth less to the fandom just because they're incomplete.
16) What are your writing strengths? Making people cry (hopefully)
17) What are your writing weaknesses? Anything resembling a consistent writing or posting schedule.
18) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? You ask this as if I didn't do a ton of research and base my own knowledge of linguistics to write semi-coherent lingurian in Lingua Franca. If I feel I can pull it off to some degree and it adds to the story? oh hell yes. It's also one of my favorite literary devices in fic and in shows (I'm looking at you Shogun 2024, you beautiful beautiful tv show on the intrigue of translation)
19) First fandom you wrote for? uhhhh. Naruto on like, fanfic.net for the super old stuff. The hobbit for my modern era lmao.
20) Favorite fic you’ve written? I don't have a favorite, I think? My brain just kind of demands I make up stories and like, I am a happier person having made up stories so I do that. Each story has something I absolutely adore about it that I needed to explore but none of them are my absolute favorite above the others.
And that's all folks. I'd love to tag @ongreenergrasses, @lobstermatriarch, @green-nbean, @findusinaweek, @aevallare, @avelera, @tirsynni, @nagia-pronounced-neijia , @poppypopp and with any other writers who'd like to play :) No pressure though!!

Ward reread rants/musings/babblings, as I go through arc 6
I don't think you get to create a cohesive fictional world without being a "control freak" (not a very fair term, but I just want to dash this off I don't intend to write essays) about it. People may advocate for 'death of the author' but the author needs to stay very much alive to actually create anything that aspires to quality. So, I'm 100% in favor of an author having unbending WOG even as I'll add my own headcanon on after the fact.
Also, as rambly as my typing gets, talking IRL to people is way worse and the folk who can pick up what I'm trying to communicate are rare (and I treasure them). I understand the frustration of "no I'm trying but you're not getting it and I'm not communicating it but I do know it: the structure of this thing is such that it behaves this way and not that way.
And hell, maybe if the Worm fans (?) hadn't made interacting with the Wormverse a tiresome and depressing exercise for WB, he'd allow that what people think about themselves and others as teenagers is likely to change profoundly if they live through another decade and if their headcrabs / traumas don't interfere too much with their thought processes and outlooks.
So I'm a WB sympathizer.
That said, if he said Ward was the least fun he had writing? It kinda shows. I discovered Worm after it was entirely complete, and in fact what with the vagaries and vicissitudes of life Pale was the first WB thing I had to wait for updates to finish. ...but I recall WB used to playfully troll the audience in the comments, and also played games with them on the side, and was just a goofy guy when he wasn't being the epic serialist. And I have to remind myself of this because he's--Cherrypop driving a murder truck over the protagonists notwithstanding--serious and tired-seeming now. (This could also be the demands of our era and aging.)
But yeah; there are WB-isms that grate on me a bit (I've kvetched about "less" for "fewer", but also there's "blood ran cold" and "sooner than later" (a regionalism? I've heard it "sooner rather than later" but maybe it's a Canuck thing?) and having a guy named Rain be intregal to the plot/action while there's actual precipitation going on and just blithely using the same words, or repeating the same word three times in two sentences. And there's more. It's maybe a style thing, and it's absolutely parseable and that means it's forgivable or even fine and I'm just being picky and wanting poetry from prose and if I don't like it I should get back to writing my own stuff and doing better, but I suspect that Ward is the "write a book in a month by getting to your wordcount and don't worry too much about editing" entry into WB's oeuvre. He had ideas, he had a story, and as John Scalzi puts it, writing is a job when you are getting paid so you do it whether your heart's in it or not and the technique from practice and the effort will get it done and you eat your mistakes and learn from them just like cooking.
(I like Scalzi's take, that if you're getting paid to write you write and damn the torpedoes or your own mood. I'll keep doing it for not-pay so that it's not a job, because I want to enjoy it. Also, I prefer the idea of the audience not getting input until the deed is done. I think if Breaking Bad had been produced in entirety without a test audience--like The Wire was--it would have been a vastly better show. But we wouldn't have Jesse to ship with Waltuh, so...YMMV.)
So yeah; I'm only on arc six in my reread, and unfortunately post-GM Victoria reminds me too much of the parts of myself that I like least* so it's hard for me to like her as a protag, but there are bits I'm looking forward to (banter with the Heartbroken and their parents, Kensie's whole deal, grumpy haughty Damselite doings) and I do set the book down reluctantly (rather than with relief) so I am enjoying much of the ride, even with some regret that it couldn't have been more fun for the author and--consequently--for the audience.
I guess it's got some similarities to the Simarillion; it adds context but part of your engagement will depend on your engagement with the previous work.
---------------------
And of course there's Amy, who I love from the beginning to end of Worm and while I could wish she could transcend her own trauma and become happy and healthy and confident and comfortable, in her own brain and social situations. (I wish that for myself too, and for each of you, and we have the freedom to be the authors of large parts of our own stories; if it's believable that any of us struggle but fail or fail to struggle, it's believable for Amy.) Well, I am rereading partly to review her situation and renew my understanding of what actually happened WRT her and also titans because it's foggy. ...but although I want what I want, some people just don't get the roll of the dice to achieve the right situation that allows them to escape their own traps.
Ward is that notional car that was put together on a Monday by skilled mechanics who maintained their professionalism and gritted their teeth and worked through their hangovers to make sure it passed diagnostics and QC, but...but.
----------------------------
Ward's also the story of how someone learns reconcile and achieve comfort with their long-established contemporary who has a monstrous side but is still a being worthy of love and consideration and can be--with patience--a close friend.
Shame that the monster side of Amy wasn't the one we're talking about here.
---------------------------------------
I could write another disjointed rant on the subject of Amy alone, but I'd best finish my reread first so I have all the info fresh in my brain-ocean.
But in case I don't? Here's my hot take, which at one point I had as long as the above but the subject is fraught, deleted entirely, wrote a different take on, it's STILL a hot take, and there are things in it that are loadbearing squick points for me so I'm leaving them deleted:
Amy, of her own free will, and in canon that is actually discussed in early Ward, temporarily turned off all of Victoria's emotions and then gave Victoria the option to remember or forget all the things Amy did that will give Victoria trauma For Ever. That was an entirely unpragmatic but arguably top-tier ethical choice for Amy to do.
Amy was monstrous. Sure, all humans are monsters at various points in their lives. Doug Forcett isn't real but he still had things to repent even after his childhood, and even if Yeshua Ben-Yosef was exactly what his marketers and fans described him as, he still intentionally tortured and caused death, not including the suffering his inactions caused. (What was he going to do? Avoid his abusive parent by spending all day in the hospital? No. That's what Amy did. Bonus; she didn't enjoy it, so it was even more saintlike than it would be if she got satisfaction from it.) (I'm saying it: Amy is bigger than Jesus. If you shoot me, be sure to carry a copy of Catcher in the Rye or it won't be any fun.)
But Amy stepped across a much bigger line than even normal human monstrosity (no sense dwelling on normal human monstrosity; it's everywhere and part of it is choosing not to see it but I have to avert my eyes sometimes or I'll become a pillar of salt) and it took her some time and a little circumstance to stop doing the monster thing. And now (late Worm through early Ward at least) she's martyring herself, (Jesus get out of my post!) or trying to stop being a martyr because it's been years and the world ended and redemption isn't 100% about martyring it's about being a better person too.
Amy--even the most heavily monstrous Amy imaginable in the text--is utterly redeemable, and closer to it than many of those who aren't framed as needing redemption.
Hang in there girl.
And I'll hang in there on my reread. The highlight of the first half of arc six is Imp bantering with Bitch and Bitch telling Victoria she's a good girl (not with that wording that would break the reality, but it was still cute) for finding a lost dog.

Age play (Im uncomfortable with huge ass age gaps)
Cnc (ewwwwww)
Extreme bdsm
Exes to lovers ** [read below in "things I will write"]

Mecha / robot and alien stuff whatever you guys call it. (That's like not bad but not exactly good for me when it comes to fan fiction)
Smuts for minor idols (you pedo bastard fuck off from my blog😀)
Also:
I won't write angsty fics if you don't want a happy ending to it. I'm not sorry to say this but I'm not a big fan of angst when it comes to fan fiction and we are talking about real people so yeah. Ofc I can add angst if only you request for a happy ending to it. Or else I won't.
Don't demand. Show the general respect, write "can I request..." Or "please can you write.... ". I write because I love to and it's my creative space. So don't be demanding then the request will be deleted.
Please note that I'll take time to fulfill your request. So you have to be patience about it.

Fluff, Imagines, Scenarios, Reactions, Smuts
Different types of aus/genres.
I'M A BIG FAN OF SLOW BURN ROMANCE IT'S MY ✨girl dinner✨
** if there's miscommunication without the characters being in an official relationship then that's okay. That would be considered as miscommunication + mutual pining (optional) + friends(or something else) to lover trope
I am okay with writing about different kinks other then those mentioned which I won't write. (You may check my "types kinks I think svt has" imagine to get an idea of what kinks I'm comfortable to write with). I'm okay with pet play too.
Poly pairing (I find it very cute for some reason)
Sub idol aus! I'M SORRY BUT PLEASE YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT NOT ALL MALE KPOP ARTISTS ARE DOMINANT/DOM and I ain't leaving my Sub idol au agenda.
Also let me know if you want it gender neutral or female or male reader okay? Thank you!
Please read:
I'm a 19 year old college student who has her own personal life and studies and will need time to write fics on whatever's been requested. I also have my own fic ideas I'd like to write. Writing something good takes a lotta time. So you have to wait.
Thank you so much if you have read it till the end.
Hope you have a great day/afternoon/evening/night (whatever time you read it lol)

Everyone getting upset about the Jikook content being monetised:
Having two members of the most famous supergroup in the world right now travelling around several countries for content is expensive af. With it being technically a work trip (and imho a very convenient union of two people clearly wanting to spend time together, them seeing the opportunity for some quality content during enlistment, and adding some padding to the whole travel permit pre-enlistment they'd have needed), I don't think they would've made Jikook pay for most of the expenses. But the hours of pay for staff, editors, security etc etc that would've been needed for the travel show need to be generated by the show. I don't know the deal between Hybe and Disney+, who paid who how much and so on, but I guess adding more profit - sth BTS and Jikook would itself profit from (meaning more free content later, more funds for things post enlistment) - isn't something unusual.
That said, there's plenty of options to consume BTS content without paying a single dollar. And I think, apart from pirating their music obviously, they'd be understanding because they know how it is to not have enough money.
Just because BTS produce something you can buy doesn't mean you have to. I myself haven't bought all the solo albums because 20 Dollars every few months just isn't something I can include in my budget. Same for the kdrama or the photofolios or the DDay concert dvds. But there's people that upload scans of the pics online, qdeoks exists for those of us who can't spend 50 Dollars for every boxset to watch one concert we like. You absolutely don't need to buy it, but they produce all this content anyway because it will undoubtedly sell. Is it capitalism? Yup. But that's just this world right now.
I'm of the opinion, kpop should add a version of albums or dvds without all the fancy extra stuff, to make it more accessible for the average consumer. Maybe the price will just be 5 Dollars less but that could be enough for many people in the fandom. Same for DVDs - I love the thought of 25 photocards of my beloved AgustD being all "tongue technology" on stage, but that's just not a realistic price tag for the average army to pay. It sold out, because people save up for it or are just rich and I can't be mad at the company to continue to make these products if they sell like hotcakes: it's just supply and demand.
Anyway. Eat the rich (though BTS maybe not), fuck capitalism and let Jikook be 🌈 for money.
yes exactly! you're a fan if you love bts and consider yourself a fan. you don't need to buy anything to be a fan. it's nice to have merch though I think because it's just nice things to have but it's not a prerequisite to being a fan or something everyone "needs to" buy. there's lots of merch I'd love to own but I can't afford to spend 100s of bts every month. you can always buy merch later too, you don't have to buy stuff immediately.
this monetisation thing is only coming up because it's jikook and people are looking for any excuse to be shitty. no one said the wooga squad is leeching off tae for in the soop friendcation or made up any weird theories about that. and I am not a fan of the wooga squad (sans tae obviously) and tbh the comments they made would have made it so easy to call that a fake scripted money grab.
I'd love to know about their disney deal cause it's interesting from a business/legal point of view. in the soop friendcation seemed like a last minute idea or at least something tae came up with on the fly and they scrambled to make it quickly. so idk how the others were planned there, why jimin's docu wasn't on there, will jungkook's be on there eventually? idk. hybe stays weird lol

i find the whole tifa "SHOULD" be buff on twitter really sad. Some people are really taking the white Knighting complex and missing out why some are saying factual stuff about her. If the OP didn't try to force their way that she's a pugilist (which she is not, she's a monk but they're probably referring to ff14 pugilist -> monk system which didn't exist in FF7 yet.....but they really do no want to be corrected and would rather tantrum instead ... seriously so "mature" goddamn it, that's why I blocked them off) and that she should be buff otherwise you're kissing SE's/Nomura's ass. It's sad, really sad.
Do they even really love tifa just as she is? Then why ask to change her? Almost even removing most of her chest which is a part of her whether they like it her not? One could have a preference surely....but they shouldn't shove it down people's throat and call them names if they don't agree. If they don't want people to comment, then why post it on public then? It's the internet? I really don't like OP, they're being too defensive and insecure with their own work.... Just because people liked it, doesn't mean the majority will accept it, twitter is not the world. That isn't tifa, that's somebody cosplaying as tifa instead. Seriously..... If OP didn't say shit that she "should", this wouldn't escalate at all. there have been plentiful buff < - > ultra buff tifa fanarts made all throughout the years before but don't need to assert a stupid stance like this, acting like it's a fact when it's not. They should stop forcing tifa to be their poster mascular body type character in FF series and demand SE to create a new one instead. They should leave tifa alone and stop forcing their ideals on her, Tbh her best design for me will always be dissidia tifa.
Personally, I think remake tifa could use a bit off current Rose Namajunas' body type to balance with her huge chest and add more strength to her *design shape....but what OP drew was no offense, "not effective" at all in the grand scale of things. Completely deflated her chest and muscle size like compared to cloud lol would look like a sore thumb with the rest of the cast too. Perhaps they wanted a Reika Saiki....instead? But this muscle idol, unlike their redesign is still able to keep her feminine vibes though??? Hmm
Anyway, I don't appreciate op being too defensive and aggressive I think it was them who ultimately made it worse and those who sincerely do have muscle fetish too (in the guise of pro muscular women), Im sure cleriths are taking advantage of this moment. There are indeed bad takes from clotis as well but most of them are only there because OP brought up what should and shouldn't be, no different from people who assert her breast should be larger than it already is. I clearly see no difference and "both are still objectifying tifa", it's just that their taste are different from the other. They don't even realize their hypocrisy smh. Tifa.... When will they ever stop talking about your body. You trully are the most realistic character I've ever laid eyes on 😢.
This was long but also silver, I may not always agree with you but I wish I could be more Idgaf in my life when it comes to shit like these, how the hell do you do it? It's incredible.
forgot to add srry! Not making tifa cute is like a no go especially in japan. Her youthful, feminine, cute design is like that for her (specially her), for a reason, especially when her looks are supposed to be reminiscent of general japanese Beauty standards and not western ones.
Op has zero respect for the devs or fans by being all idgaf about canon and my interpretation should be what the devs do because that's what I want.
I literally do not give a fuck if people draw Tifa different from canon. I also draw Tifa different from canon. The point I made from the start, and have stuck by is that op is body shaming women who aren't overly muscular like women can't be slender and athletic. They're disrespecting the devs creative process and acting arrogant af because they got a description from fucking Google that doesn't even match Tifa's job. She's a monk, not a pugilist. Op acting like they're being bullied when they were the one antagonising people with what they said is so much garbage I can't even.
You'll notice it's never any other character being demeaned this way. Cloud lugs an 80lb sword around but nobody says he should be more muscular.
Op even thought they had some gotcha by saying they'll draw Aerith overweight, but unless she also says this should be canon then she's just being a fucking body shaming moron. They're not doing it to celebrate bigger women, they're doing it to piss people off, and at the same time implying Aerith's canon appearance isn't adequate either. Women look like Aerith. She has a straight up and down frame. When people warp that by making her look like Tifa and then try and claim she has curves that also pisses me off because she doesn't. It's not so much the art, although I also don't like it, but typically ignore it, it's the mindset of the people making and commenting on it like their opinions should be taken up by the devs and the game changed to suit them.
And comparing a body type to a haircut is ridiculous. Anybody can get a haircut. Tifa does get a haircut in AC. Hair is not body type.
Tifa's design is canonically cute and adorable. She's yamato nadeshiko
Tumblr media
People can draw Tifa how they want, but this is how Nomura canonically designed her. She emulates the delicate beauty, so screaming that should be changed is just a disrespect to Nomura and ffvii.
If y'all are fans then why you being assholes to the creators?

long rant about bg3 and people's weird behavior towards larian
Larian's continued support of their game and their community has given some people genuine brain rot. We were lucky to even get bug fixes post-release (I'm a cyberpunk 2077 fan), and they were both kind and creative enough to give us a FREE epilogue and add FREE content, but the community at large has taken this kindness and changed it into something entirely different and really unhealthy. Every time Larian updates us on patches and bug fixes, there are hundreds of comments demanding Larian "add" new content, "fix" characters, "fix" relationships, and I'm just baffled by how entitled this is. Do you guys know how video games work? You know you used to just get a video game once and that was it. If you bought a video game you bought a finished product. With more and more patch-based games becoming popular (stuff like Fortnite, Overwatch, Stardew, Genshin, etc), we're starting to see this design model bleed into triple a titles, which is fine (I'm not a big fan personally but I enjoy a lot of these types of games anyway), but it's giving people a really weird, backwards attitude about BG3. At this point I question whether those people actually enjoy the game they played or not. They demand so many changes and edits to characters that I find it hard to believe they even like those characters at all, and would much rather live in their world of headcanon and fanfiction (which, again, is fine) -- but at some point we have to acknowledge that BG3 was made BY Larian. The things you see as flaws in character's stories are canonical, put there by Larian for a specific reason. If you go under every post and demand they "fix" Wyll, I think there's a good chance you need to sit back and wonder if maybe Wyll is just like that. Because he is. That is who he is in the game's text. That is his story. If you don't like it, then by all means discuss what you would change, but it's unfair to belittle Larian for the story that THEY GAVE YOU. This is not to say there isn't a conversation to be had about Black characters in gaming being given really boring, lackluster stories, because that is 100% a noticeable trend (Preston Garvey from Fallout 4 comes to mind). This attitude also unfortunately extends to Gortash fans, and I know I'm kind of shooting myself in the foot here, but I want to discuss it lmao. I liked Gortash "before it was cool" you could say, back when the game dropped and it was gross to think he was attractive, et cetera (this is not something to be bragging about i know), and now that it's been kind of normalized to like him, Gortash fans are getting really invasive and, to put it bluntly, annoying. They whine like children in Larian's comments sections and on their own accounts about how Larian is so "unfair" to Gortash/Durgetash, how they are purposely removing Gortash content from the game to mess with us, etc. Once again, Larian cannot physically be "unfair" about a character THAT THEY LITERALLY MADE THEMSELVES. THEY choose what content to put in THEIR game. The Gortash that is in the game is the Gortash that they decided to put there. Nobody is hiding anything from you, nobody is hurting you, you're not special or different, there is no anti-Gortash agenda. If you can't engage with the canon content that Larian gives us, then I suggest that, for your own health, you move on. Gortash is my favorite character in BG3 because of what Larian did with him, not because of what he could potentially be if Larian bowed down to all of us and gave us everything we wanted. "Gortash romance when" NEVER!!!! And that's the fun bit!!!! We can all go crazy imagining what it would be like and we can make fan communities and fanfictions and art and it's awesome! Speculation and headcanon are awesome! Just stop expecting developers to cater to your every whim! It's unfair and will end up with you being sorely disappointed! Enjoy what they gave us and change it to fit your fantasy! If you like a thing, engage with it, play it, thank the people who gave it to us. Don't pester it to change.

I guess this has to be said again??????
Actors. Are. Actual. People.
I don't understand how hard this is to digest???? Actors have their own lives outside of the projects they do.
No actor is their character. Sure, they fall into their own character types but that's literally it. And even then that's not who they are, that's them being an actor.
We, as an audience, aren't owed anything by an actor. This is their job and it stops right there.
People going out of their way to find out personal details of said actor is weird and they need to stop. Just because they are active in the public eye (as a fictional person might I add!!!!) doesn't give you a right to dig into their lives.
We have been so spoiled to watch interviews and such and now we treat it as though it's a requirement of every single actor in a successful TV show or movie. AND we don't even want the interviews to be about their work but about their personal life!!!! Not everyone is comfortable having their lives on full blast. Hell, no one should be comfortable with that.
The entitlement fans have is wild and it needs to calm the fuck down. I'm not even talking about just tv shows and movies. It's very much happening in live theatre. Some fans of Broadway actor snuck into their dressing room at the end of a show and refused to leave demanding a photo.
We just need to chill guys. Take a fucking Lexapro and chill the fuck out. Actors are gonna do their actor stuff and live their own private life.
No more doxxing actors, leave them the fuck alone.
There have been actors who have stopped doing their craft bc the public was too much. If a fandom is so intense that they cause a person to quit doing something they have put their whole body and soul into there's a big fucking problem.
Another reminder that almost all actors don't act for fame and what is believed to be an excessive amount of money. Hell, usually the money is just enough to live paycheck to paycheck.
Actors do what they do because they love it, they have a passion. I'm not speaking out of my ass. I have yet to meet an actor who does it for fame. If they do it for money it's bc they want to earn money to continue doing what they love bc wow it does not pay much.
Actors bare themselves to us and we're so fucking entitled that we forget they're people.
So calm the fuck down, drink some apple cider, and play the sims.

So I’ve discovered what I found familiar and disliked about the interactions from your anon with the negative views and parasocial thing re:Lewis
Team LH on twt keep involving themselves in places that aren’t LH friendly and demand that others share their views which is nonsensical because if these ppl hate LH why are you engaging with them
They complain about ppl mentioning LH for clicks and then they respond and quote twts providing engagement and furthering the reach of these ppl
This part here is an assumption but if I had to deal with racism and discrimination on work (within f1) unprovoked and then my fans keep adding fire to those flames via sm engagement I might just spend less time on sm since I’m not about to quit my job
LH seems like the kind of person that would focus on making changes in areas he can control (sm, vacation activities, privacy etc)
Anyway I’m rambling now but yeah…..team LH complain about everything but engage with the very same ppl and articles they should ignore and it’s very pessimistic and argumentative behaviour
Hi! So there's a few things here. I wanna start by saying although you're taking Team LH as an example I think it's important to recognize that this isn't specific to them, nor F1.
I've had a twitter account for more than a decade – I don't engage with F1 content there myself, I'm just not interested – and I see very similar behaviour in my timeline although it's not fandom-based at all but queers and leftists and feminists and generally cool people and/or my friends. They tend to quote tweets that make them react (which is the equivalent of pointing directly at someone in front of your group of friends and saying look how stupid this guy is basically) and that makes other people react and so on and that's just how twitter is built. That's how twitter works. Twitter's foundation IS people yelling at each other. Is it stupid? Absolutely. But that's genuinely just what this platform is about and how interactions happen there most of the time. (Also not just there tbc I've seen such things happen here on tumblr and on every social media but twitter absolutely favours this more than any other social media).
And then you add fan behaviour on top of that and yeah. A lot of people tend to engage and get into fights about what or who they like and that's a human thing that's then sometimes magnified by parasociality and just. The fact that you're generally invested, you know? You invest time, and energy, and most of all emotions into a person, or a band, or an actor/actress, or a topic or whatever, that means something to you and that makes you feel something. And ultimately being a fan of something tends to be a bit of a foggy self-identification process, right? It becomes a part of you. So when people attack it, it feels like they're attacking you, they're judging you, because you don't like the right thing the right way, and it feels personal and so you feel the need to defend it because you feel the need to defend yourself for what you like and how you like it. It's an emotional thing. I think it's easy to get caught up in that. I remember how personally I took it when people made fun of things that I liked and projected myself into and made me feel joy at some points in my life. That's why I don't blame Anon from the other day. Because it's not easy to detach from what other people think of what we like and what we do and ultimately of who we are. Maybe I'm getting a bit deep about this but you get what I mean : people get emotional about stuff they like and identify with.
Still I think it's always important although maybe not always easy to try to be a bit meta about things and take a step back and be like okay wait a minute because how did I get here at first I was just enjoying this cool thing and sharing my enjoyment with people and now I'm anxious and angry what is this about and how do I get back to the part where it's nice and joyful? Because that thing that made you feel good should make you feel good.
Good luck trying to explain that to fucking twitter though.
