i think ceroba makes a REALLY good parallel to toriel. she loved her husband and she loved her daughter and then things got FUCKED and her child Gave Themself Up leaving her only able to watch and feel so guilty because once it started there was no helping it.

cerboa was grieving and in a strange place of "my daughter is asking this of me she's Asking Me To Do This" and she's trying to do something for monsterkind because she raised a thoughtful wonderful daughter who cares and says "mommy, it's worth a try, right?" and of course it's worth a try and there's a fog in your head because you're grieving and your daughter is right here and she wants you to do something and then something goes wrong and you can feel it in the way the fog clears and it was a mistake and you've lost it ALL.

again it comes down to the thing i mentioned in the tags of that post, about being a ‘good’ person. or a good mother in that context. that these ideas of good and bad people cant really exist without some sort of bias or perspective.

ceroba made a shit ton of mistakes… she let her daughter give herself up, she betrayed her friends and tried to kill some other kid in hopes to save her own family. for all you can try to justify those actions and make reasons for them its undeniable that she DID still cause a lot of pain for a lot of people

so i think the question isnt really, is she still a good person? but rather, is she forgivable?

we know clover forgave her, and star and martlet. sooo maybe thats enough

No, no, you don't understand they're so hilarious to me like in the best way possible. actually you probably do understand lmao but like. two girls who are siblings but not siblings that end up having close relationships with another set of siblings-not-siblings. . . it seems so fated but really it is a group of women having unhealthy coping mechanisms and bad social skills. (light and mori are both actively trying to manipulate each other when they are first interacting lmao)

Memento is so girlfailure, oh my god, because Akari is mean to her but like, she's specific about it, she insults something that is unique to Memento and Mento is like "omg she is paying attention to me!" and also Mento is a bit of a masochist who likes it when people are mean to her. Akari insults her, to her face, and Mento blushes and twirls her bangs and dreamily sighs, says "I love it when she's mean to me" and her friends all look on in horror.

Mento is the person who is hopelessly down bad and pursuing this person who is actively mean to her and who her friends are telling her to stay away from and she is completely undeterred. I am honestly more and more fascinated by Akari's reaction to these pursuits because Mento honestly has the self-awareness of a brick and if Akari wants her to stop, she's gonna have to be pretty explicit about it haha

1: When did you first get into Homestuck? around mid-October last year, I think I had started reading previously but got like. 20 pages in.

4: Ever made your own chumhandle? yeah, I have, it's cosmopoieticQuestant. idk if it's a good one and I don't use it for anything but l like big fancy words and its abbreviation would be CQ and because I'm a fucking nerd that makes me happy. uhh cosmopoietic is a word I really like it means universe-creating so yeahg 👍

One thing Spinel had found the most odd about humans was how their faces got red, for no apparent reason. She was eventually told it's called blushing.

Spinel liked it when Alex blushed.

She reached a hand up to cup their face, feeling the warmth of their flushed cheeks even under her gloves as they glowed. Alex was positively beaming, eyelids slowly fluttering shut as they placed their hand over hers.

The smaller gem-girl felt her own face get hot, overtaken by a warmth flooding through her.

She liked the feeling.

And somehow they always managed to give it to her, make her feel light and weightless, make butterflies flutter in her chest. She had to admit, she didn't know how Alex felt on the matter, but she was absolutely smitten. This was love, wasn't it? She was sure of it. It wasn't the kind of love she had with Pink... This was different. Stronger. Gripped her in a way that was tight but not frightening, more like a strong hug. A familiar hold she had missed after all these years.

Her thumb began moving on their cheek, slowly rubbing in a soothing manner that she had learned from them. Yes, she had learned this from them. She remembered the night clearly, early on, when she had curled up on Alex's couch, overwhelmed by the crushing thought of being left alone again. They were home late from work, and by the time they had arrived, she was already crying. They had apologized over and over again, reassuring her that they would always come back, as their hands found their way to her face- thumbs wiping her tears and simply holding her as she still wept. But she calmed eventually, unable to stay upset as Alex continued their comforting touches. She remembered that night so well...

"Whatcha thinkin' about?"

Spinel was surprised to hear them talk, as they now looked at her, eyes sparkling as they still leaned into her palm with a red face. She giggled, a smile taking over her features as she scratched the back of her neck with her free hand.

"..You."

Was her simple, quiet answer. Alex's eyes went wide for a moment, before their expression softened, their ears now burning hot as their smile grew.

She found it so cute, how so deeply crimson they got. She really did like it when they blushed.
