speaking of safety-related tangents
I don't miss working with the crazy lasers since my current ones are "just" visible and fairly low power tbqh (as in you have to VERY actively try in order to fuck up your eyes lmao)
but I also kinda do miss it
nothing like working around invisible UV radiation Set Shit On All The Fire Beams and high voltages to make yourself wake the fuck up in the morning lmao
#; ooc thingamabobs#don't get me wrong it's a cleanroom and we HAVE protection and also OSHA always breathing down our necks#but yeah. and speaking of: throwback to that one time I detected a fucking minuscule pinhole leak in a fluorine line by smell#turns out I can just detect REALLY super low (as in: sub-dangerous) levels of it. only time I ever got to whap the nice shiny EMO switch#for anyone curious it was like super SUPER bad chlorine but not as like. eye-sting-y. but WAY more stinky#(and we actually threw that whole laser out afterwards lmao they were NOT risking that shit again)
