RWBY Volume 6

So, I pretty much binge-watched this one in a few days because I really needed to know how things go on after Volume 5 and it was just so good! Lots of messy thoughts to come!

[There will be spoilers for RWBY up to Volume 6 in this post (duh). Please don’t leave any spoilers for anything after Volume 6 on this post, or I will block you.]

Thoughts under the cut because this ended up getting a little long.

- The character short for Adam was really cool! It was cool to see how the White Fang began, to see Sienna, Ghira, Ilia and Adam in action, to see the irony of Sienna being a mentor to Adam and encouraging his ways when you know he’ll end up killing her, and to see a glimpse into Adam and Blake’s past relationship (and how the stuff he said to her was textbook emotional abuse). However, I do have one criticism, and it’s something that really bothers me: There’s a continuity mistake with Ilia’s age. Let’s think about this: Ilia was always implied to be the same age (or around the same age) as Blake. In the part of this short where Ghira was still leader of the White Fang, Ilia appears and doesn’t look younger than in canon. But we know Ghira stepped down at least a few years ago. If Blake is meant to be a teenager in volume 1… there’s just no way Ilia could have been there and already been an adult. She’s supposed to have still been a kid when Ghira was leader, unless she’s at least a few years older than Blake – which I don’t think she’s meant to be? Yeah sorry, this kind of stuff just bothers me. I get that timelines can be hard to keep track off, but that was a really obvious mistake and it ruins my immersion a bit.

- I loved the whole opening fight on the train and just seeing team RWBY fighting together again.

- I’ve got to say, I do feel bad for Weiss: After everything she went through to leave Atlas, she now suddenly has to go back there. I mean, that must suck.

- I’m a bit sad they just but Ilia on a bus, but I get that her main conflict is pretty much over and they had to go back to focusing on the main characters’ quest. I still wish we’d have at least gotten a scene of her interacting with the other members of team RWBY, though.

- I really liked Ilia and Blake’s goodbye at the train station, though. (And the whole “wrong tree” moment with Neptune really made me laugh 😂)

- Also just wanted to say I love Ilia’s new outfit (and the fact that she has spots on her belly – this is really important information, okay?)

- There’s a certain irony in the Faunus becoming more accepted because they STOPPED Adam’s attack on Haven.

- I think Jinn and the whole concept of how asking her questions works is super cool.

- I totally get why everyone’s pissed at Ozpin both before, during and after Jinn revealed his and Salem’s backstory. He has been hiding an awful lot from everyone, even after promising not to anymore, and he actively tried to stop the team from finding out the truth. Plus, the whole fact that he doesn’t have a plan for defeating Salem and is potentially risking everyone’s lives for nothing. (That said, can they not take it out on poor Oscar, please? None of this is his fault.)

- Oscar fighting Ozpin from within and telling them how to summon Jinn was a really badass scene. And I feel super bad for Oscar overall. Not only is he kind of at war with someone who lives in his brain now, but he also just found out that he’ll eventually only become a part of Ozma. And on top of that, people are punching and blaming him for stuff that’s not his fault. That’s super harsh.

- I’m kind of glad Cinder’s alive, because as I said, I was hoping they’d develop her more and make her a more interesting villain… but I don’t feel like this volume did that. Right now, she’s still pretty superficial, unfortunately.

- And now, time to get into one of the highlights of this volume for me: Salem’s backstory! Because holy shit, that was one hell of a backstory! When I said back in my post about volume 5 that I hope Cinder’s alive because I would like to see them make her a more interesting villain, I didn’t expect them to do just that, but for Salem. I love villains that are interesting, but I didn’t expect Salem, the literal big bad of the show, to be the interesting one here! I am pleasantly surprised by this, though! (And just to be clear, because some people love to misunderstand this: When I say “interesting”, I don’t mean “She has a sad backstory, this excuses everything she’s doing”, I mean “She has a sad backstory, this makes her more compelling as a villain”.)

- So, about that backstory: Do we all agree that the gods are major jerks, or what? I mean, initially not bringing Ozma back to life was fair, death is a part of life, they can’t upset the balance, I get that – but making him repeatedly disintegrate in Salem’s arms after she just thought she’d gotten him back? And then making her immortal just to make sure she couldn’t be with him? And then killing ALL of humanity just because of the actions of a few? But still not letting Salem die? And then bringing Ozma back after all (because now it suddenly doesn’t ‘disrupt the balance’ or what?) and kind of tricking him into that whole relics task because he wanted to be with Salem? The god are jerks, I rest my case - and I’m not sure if bringing them back is a good idea.

- Also… I get that she’s like… evil and all… but am I the only one who thought Salem got way sexier after jumping into the pools of grimm? Is that just me? Because damn… I’m kinda into that version of her. (Come on, she’s a sexy goth witch and I’m a simple lesbian, what do you expect?)

- So yeah… in an unexpected turn of events, Salem might be one of my favourite characters now? Oops? (*insert obligatory ‘this does not mean I condone her actions in any way’ disclaimer here*)

- I feel super bad for Salem and Ozma’s kids, though. I hate kids getting hurt in media in general. (I imagine the grief over them stayed with Ozma forever. And I like the theory that he gave the original four maidens their powers because they reminded him of his daughters. In general, I don’t consider him to be the bad guy in this backstory at any point. His only mistake is not being honest with the people who are helping and protecting him in the present.)

- I am now convinced that this entire show has to end with Salem and Ozma dying. That’s the only way all of this can end. Salem will have to either be killed somehow or learn the lesson the gods tried to teach her and die. Ozma will have to fulfill his task and die as well – either through Oscar dying with him (😢), through only Ozma dying but Oscar getting to live without him, or through the reincarnation cycle ending and Ozma/Ozpin recognizing that Oscar is going to be his last life. Something like that would be my prediction.

- Speaking of interesting villains: This volume also did a great job with Emerald and Mercury! With those two, I’m actually hoping for a redemption now. (And Hazel is a great guy as well. The fact that he was willing to take the blame for their failure at Haven to protect Emerald and Mercury is something I really respect.)

- I also I want to say I find Tyrion super entertaining.

- It was great to see Neo again! (I’ve gotten so used to Chibi!Neo it was almost weird to see regular Neo again.) Her fight with Cinder was EPIC.

- (I basically feel like this volume did a great job on all villains except for Cinder. But hey, maybe that’ll still happen.)

- This was an interesting volume for Qrow. On the one hand, I get why hearing Oz’s backstory drove him into a sort-of depression and made his drinking habit worse and I feel bad for him, but from the point-of-view of Ruby and the others, it must have also been super frustrating that the one proper adult in the group couldn’t keep it together and everyone else had to keep doing the hard work.

- Maria is a super cool and epic character! I really hope she sticks around with the team for Volume 7 because she’s amazing and I love her. She was super badass in her backstory (that moment where she lost her eyes was painful just to watch), I love the fact that she was Qrow’s hero growing up (and that he based his weapon on hers!), that we finally met another character who has (well, had) silver eyes, and that she’s that funny, cranky, but also wise old lady now who mentors Ruby and is just super funny all around. Good stuff, I hope we see more of her!

- The Apathy are the creepiest grim yet. The whole concept of them draining you of your will to live without you even noticing is just SO scary – I love it, but I’m also low-key terrified. The crew’s trip to that farm estate could have easily gone very wrong. Pretty much nothing but Ruby’s silver eyes even worked on them. I like how those episodes set the whole thing up – Team RWBY having emotional conversations while they were in the house, everyone having doubts (which makes sense at that point in the story, so you don’t really question it at first), and then the sneaking realization of what’s going on. Also, the guy who sealed in those Apathy grim in in the first place was just so dumb. How could you think that was a good idea? Good job getting everyone killed, dude.

- I’m glad this volume gave us more on Ruby’s silver eyes! I like that she finally got to use them before the season finale (though I loved that joke on RWBY Chibi), and I also like that she first used them to protect Blake. (I don’t ship them as much as Bumbleby, but I feel like Ruby and Blake’s ship/friendship is super underrated.) It was also nice to learn more about how the Silver eyes work in general and how they came to be. (If they came from the god of light, I’m assuming all the people with silver eyes are the descendants of Ozma’s past lives? TV Tropes kind of helped me out here: Apparently if you freeze the picture where you see one of his past lives with his kids, you can see the kids have silver eyes.) People with silver eyes being hunted also comes as no surprise to me, that’s kind of what I was assuming already. (Which raises the question: Just how did Summer Rose die?) Also, interesting fact that they only work on the Grimm...

- That moment where they reunite with JNR in Argus was really sweet. I also loved the design of Argus as a whole.

- I LOVE Saphron, Terra, and their son!!! I love that we got to meet one of Jaune’s sisters, I love that we got some more LGBT+ representation, and their baby is adorable!! (I loved that scene of everyone cooing over the baby. Also, that moment where Ruby realized Jaune and Saphron were siblings. Also, that moment where the baby helped them distract the guards by crying.) Basically, I just love the Cotta-Arcs. (Also, I just want to say that Saphron is super pretty.)

- Cordovin and her two goons are hilarious. I mean, I also hate them because they’re overly patriotic Atlas-people and Cordovin was racist to Blake – but they’re also super freaking hilarious. Every little line of Maria and Cordovin’s beef with each other had my dying with laughter 🤣 (mainly it was Maria’s lines that had me dying with laughter).

- That whole scene with the statue of Pyrrha was such a tearjerker 😢. First the leaf, then the sad music, then Jaune talking to that red-haired lady (I’m guessing she’s either Pyrrha’s mom or sister?), and then Ren and Nora joining and giving Jaune a pep-talk 😭 😭. I think this was a really important moment for Jaune, not just to get closure, but also to stop blaming himself and putting himself down. I’m glad Ren and Nora told him they don’t want to lose him too, and that the red-haired lady said she’s “glad Pyrrha was surrounded by such amazing people”. Gosh, now I’m tearing up again writing this 😭. I miss Pyrrha 😭 😭.

- I love Oscar’s new outfit. It was time for him to finally drop the farm boy look.

- I love how Jaune is so down for crime that his plan is just “They only let Atlas airships though, so we steal an Atlas airship.” I mean, makes sense.

- I think their whole plan to steal the airship was super cool and although I get why things can’t be that easy in shows like this (and I love that we got the showdown with Adam), I still kind of wish it had worked just because it was a really cool plan and everyone had their part to play in it. Heck, even the baby got to help (and it was awesome)! But yeah, Adam just had to ruin everything, nothing new there.

- So, about Adam: First of all, he’s a major creep for victim-blaming Blake (again) and stalking her. I like how creepy his behaviour is from a story-telling perspective (and from an angst-loving “I like seeing my faves suffer” perspective), but his story was getting a little old, so I’m not too sad they killed him off now. It was a good point in the story to do it. (That said, holy shit is he a creep! “I wouldn’t have to be doing this if you just behaved”? Wow. I get that he’s meant to be abusive and controlling; that’s the point of his character (and like I said, I’m here for the angst), but… yikes, poor Blake.)

- And then we had Blake and Yang’s rematch with Adam. EPIC STUFF. First of all, I like that Blake was able to hold her own against him for a bit (and same for Yang later). I also love the whole dramatic setting by the waterfall and the fact that Blake lost her coat (this is important, okay? it symbolizes vulnerability – and also it just looks cool), the scar on Blake’s belly (from their fight at Beacon, right?), the face reveal of Adam – I just love how all of this was set up in such an epic, dramatic way. But the most epic moment, at least from the start of the fight, has got to be Yang just jumping down there with her motorcycle hitting Adam and that amazing music. I’ve said before that Yang is just too cool for words and I will stand by that. The fight itself was epic too, though I was so stressed the whole time I couldn’t completely pay attention. Blake and Yang fighting Adam together was definitely the best part, though. And I loved the irony of Yang’s metal arm saving her. In general, I like that Yang and Blake got to fight and defeat (and kill) Adam together because he’s been a demon for both of them, and I like that they clarified they’re doing it as equal partners. “We’re protecting each other” was a nice callback to earlier when Blake tried to reassure Yang she’d protect her, and to even earlier when Yang was protecting Blake at Beacon.

- Let’s talk about my other highlight of the volume: Bumbleby! Because sorry not sorry, there’s no way you can deny their romantic subtext anymore at this point. Early in the volume, there’s the conflict of things being weird between them, and Blake not knowing how to deal with her guilt and thinking she needs to protect Yang (and do stuff like getting her bag down for her) – while Yang feels insulted by this and thinks that Blake sees her as being incapable of doing anything now that she lost an arm. Then, when Blake first leaves to disable the comms, they give each other those really sweet, loving looks. And of course, it all leads up to them confronting their nightmare together, holding hands, and declaring that they’re protecting each other. Add Adam’s jealousy to that (He was making comparisons between himself and Yang and asking “What does she even see in you?” – that’s not a sentence you just say to your ex’s friend) and you’d have to be willfully ignorant to not see the subtext. And those soft moments after the fight just killed me: Blake breaking down crying, Yang immediately running to hug and comfort her, Blake’s promise not to leave, Yang reassuring her and wiping away her tears – I LOVE hurt/comfort stuff and I’m so soft for these two! They love each other so much!

(Pretty much the only downside of all this is that a few major parts were spoiled for me in advance. Look, it’s pretty impossible to follow lots of blogs that post wlw ships and not see that picture of Bumbleby holding hands, or the one of them hugging (or the one of them killing Adam) at some point. So yeah… I’d seen all three of those pictures before and knew this would happen. But it was still really nice to see it all come together and see how we got there!)

- The fight against Cordovin and her giant mecha was also pretty cool! It reminded me a bit of the Legend of Korra finale. Ruby going inside the arm canon was an especially epic moment. And I also liked that small moment when they were flying on the Queen Lancer and Ruby had her arms around Weiss’ waist (a bit of White Rose, yay!).

- I like that moment when the Grimm attack and the team first realizes they just destroyed the only thing capable of stopping them – but to be honest, that was mostly Cordovin’s fault. She brought out that mecha for something it wasn’t meant for and started the fight that attracted the Grimm in the first place. Also, how exactly did she think the people of Atlas would take it if she had actually hurt Weiss? So yeah, most of that mess was on her, tbh. I’m glad she at least came though to help in the end, though.

- Back to Bumbleby: Honestly, the strongest romantic undertones weren’t even in the fight with Adam or directly afterwards for me, but in the last episode when they’re all on the ship together. So, Blake is blaming herself for the plan going wrong, and Yang has an arm around, her, still half holding her and reassuring her. And then – and this one really gets me – Ruby hugs Blake and gives Yang that knowing look over her shoulder while Yang suddenly looks away shyly. They’re communicating without words and Ruby totally knows what’s up. She’s basically saying “So you and Blake, huh?” and suddenly Yang – YANG – is feeling shy. This isn’t subtle. And then later Bumbleby hold hands again and look at each other like that… they’re in love, I don’t make the rules.

- And finally, we of course have Ruby’s epic silver-eyed moment in the finale, which was AMAZING. I loved all the flashbacks and how they’re drawn pictures and not just stills from the episodes, I love how the memories of her friends motivate her, I love how much of Penny there was in there (bit of Nuts and Dolts, yay!), I loved seeing adorable little!Yang, and of course the first look at Summer Rose! (I still want a Team STRQ backstory episode at some point.) Also, the music during that scene was so good!

Gosh, now I’ve talked for way too long again, but there was just so much to say about this volume! Long story short: Loved it, can’t wait to continue! (I know exactly 1 major spoiler for volume 7 because it was unavoidable on social media, but that’s it. And it’s a spoiler I really didn’t mind knowing, so…)

I am currently working on an Aphmau Au atm. This is a placeholder ((aphmau’s design will change)) But here’s the gist. Its kinda an RPG au? Like it works similarly to delta rune, or Persona 5 where there are 2 worlds. One where you fight and one where you improve your relationships with people and like talk and stuff.  The other worlds name is Gamvrasia If I do write the au I’ll do like 5 different versions. ((Also Ein Aphmau & Claire are just the potential starter crew. You get ALOT more party members)) All 3 versions will have a VERY different story and a different Aphmau. - Ein is overprotective and will fite any boy who tries to court Aphmau.

- Ein & Sylvanna once plotted against Aaron together

.- Ein used to bully Aphmau when they were younger but doesn't really anymore

-Sylvanna put Ein into Aphmau's life at the age of about 5. Ein was 4 years old at the time. And he had nobody in his family with the money to take care of him. Sylvanna being a saint took him in. Claire came into Aphmau’s life a bit later when she was 7 Claire was 8 

- Ein loves photography and has an entire collection of still life photo & landscape photo's that he scribbled on with crayon

- Aphmau is the stronger then Ein. She had to get tough to keep this boy in line.- Aphmau's older and loves her baby brother to bits....even if he can be a little bit of a dick sometimes he's still..her baby brother. But Claire’s the strongest sibling

- Aphmau sometimes gives Ein huggle attacks and he either hates them or severely appreciates them depending on his mood.

- Ein styles Aphmau's hair all the time for her. He loves doing it. Most of the time he does what she likes which is giving it an ombre purple. ((Though he thinks she should get streaks))

- Aphmau is similarly protective over Ein and once threatened both Ein & Aaron to not hurt each other telling Aaron "If you hurt my baby brother I will beat you to death with your own bloody femurs" and telling Ein "If you hurt my boyfriend I will break your kneecaps"

- Aphmau loves painting Eins face, Claire will never let Aphmau paint her face. 

- Ein is completely fine with Aphmau painting his face. He wears whatever look she gives him with pride. No matter how stupid it is. If you make fun of it he will DESTROY you for making fun of his little sister's work

- The Ein & Aphmau rough house sometimes but not very severely. More like playfighting if anything. Claire usually just avoids the fighting or hides

- When they were younger Aphmau would always play the villain while Ein played the hero. Ein was a bratty kid that always wanted to be a hero since he loves being in the spotlight. Claire would be the Damsel in distress. She thoroughly enjoyed playing the princess

 - Aphmau sometimes paints Ein's nails and does his make up. He is her testing dummy. he's fine with this. As long as he gets to do her make up. Claire Also lets Aphmau do her make up. As long as she follows her instructions - Aphmau was shitty at being a villain

- Ein got a tattoo (on his butt) and never told Sylvanna about it. She still doesn't know to this day

- Ein & Sylvanna talk shit about Aaron behind his back all the time. They also do it in front of his face!

- Ein was the one who got Aphmau into Gaming, Sylvanna had bought him a game console before Aphmau because...he was a boy and Sylvanna didn't think Aphmau would be interested and Ein loved it. Aphmau would always watch him and try to get Ein to teach her how to play the games he had. He did of course. Aphmau believes if Ein had never gotten her into gaming she would have never met Aaron..this isn't true of course but. Yeah

-Claire Has that big sister pride. And enjoys being in charge 

- Ein's into photography

- Ein can't spell for the life of him and is horribly dyslexic

- Aphmau's entire bloodline has a tendency to get overprotective ((whether it be from jealousy or not. You don't hurt their children/siblings. Just the ones she's blood related to though. ))

- Claire likes smooth Jazz and Tea

- Zack has like 20 kids and only knows like 3 of there names. Ein isn't the first child born from an affair he had and Ein won't be the last.

-  Claire is one of those babies. ((She's a canon character watch the fnaf rp. (Also it appears to be an au of Mystreet possibly since Laurence is present in one of Aphmaus photos )))

- Claire hates horror movies and is absolutely terrified of anthropomorphic animals.

- Claire  has depression and honestly has a hard time getting up in the morning

- Claire often falls for horrible people and has bad tastes in men. She has had her heart broken many times

- Claire had a stillbirth baby in the past. it was a boy. The death of this baby kickstarted her depression

- Aphmau babies Ein sometimes because when he was a little kid he had to be pampered and she can't get out of that thinking style for the life of her.

- Ein has a therapist he goes to who helps him with his problems. He has medications he has to take to keep him calm and such. Without them he becomes slightly creepier to be around...only slightly- Ein eventually warms up to Aaron over time. alongside Sylvanna

- Ein is a furry and he got a fursuit one-day Aphmau is okay with this cause it makes him happy

- Aaron is disturbed by it and Aphmau once called him out for fursecution. And lectured him for hours on it

- Ein broke Aphmau's game boy when they were little. It was an accident but still

- Ein gets really passionate about things and has a tendency to obsess. He can get lost in fantasy for hours on end.  He is very obsessive.

- Ein disliked Garroth for some time....until Garroth took off his shirt. Then he liked him all of a sudden. Aphmau was very weirded out by how fast Eins mind changed.

- Ein sometimes has mini panic attacks when Aphmau goes out on dates.  he realizes he can't intervene but he can't help but worry. He knows what monsters are like and he doesn't want Aphmau to get hurt by one.

- If you break Aphmau's heart Ein will come for you with an ax, & Claire will post nasty things about you on the internet

- Aphmau is slightly more violent in this au. Ein had some influence on her as a kid. It's not by a lot though. She just has very harsh threats

- Ein makes sure Aphmau can protect herself, They have workout days were they get BEEFY!

- Aphmau worries about Eins future constantly and often has nightmares about it. Sylvanna does too sometimes but less.

- Aphmau can be super sweet at some points but suddenly enter drill sergeant mode if you're acting like a little kid. She uses tough love and gentle guidance. She uses both when she sees fit.

- Aphmau paints Eins nails and does his make up sometimes. He enjoys it. it's fun for him.

- Aphmau Wears prescription glasses. and is the big nerd of the group

- when Aphmau was 7 Ein sent someone to the hospital. This was around the time when he started taking meds. It was important 

- Zoey was their babysitter who is ((4 years younger than them)) 

- Ein & Zane never get along. ((Zane thinks Ein is a poser))

Alright now for some of the things in the Gamvrasia for the normal versions of them

- Team attacks are possible. You can use special moves with another party member 

- Summoning is also possible. But only if your not related ((You’d summon a “Child” like If Aphmau and Aaron did a summon it’d be Alina, If Aphmau and Laurence did a summon it’d be Malachi, If Aphmau and Garroth did a summon it’d be Levin, so on so forth. )) The summon vanishes after the battle. And the summon has the appearance of an adult - Ein gains Wolf ears in the combat world and he is very happy about that Very excited

- Aphmau gains bunny ears in this world 

- Aphmau is a species called a Ouinca. ((They are buny people)) the only ability they generally have is the ability to run really fast.

- Claire Gets cat ears 

- Ein howled and Aphmau was very confused. Just because you gain animal ears doesn’t mean you gain their tendencies. Ein’s just howling cause he wants to be a dog furry.

- Claire has the highest attack, she has low defence though, she Also has HORRIBLE magic attack. She has higher speed then Ein 

- Aphmau has medium defense, higher attack then Ein, alot of Sp, and alright magic. Her stats can change and you can improve them manually (She’s the only one you can do this with. The others stats are predetermined ((Unless your counting Armor and stuff)). Aphmau has the highest speed 

- Ein Has high magic attack, High defense, but also the lowest attack out of the 3. This does NOT mean he’s weak, however. 

- Most of Eins attacks are magic ones, Though he does have a few attacking moves. Some being really brutal. But he usually just shoots lasers at you or little blasts.  - Aphmau has alot of healing spells, but she also has some fire spells. Her attacks are really fast and Jumpy 

-  Claires Attacks are really direct, and they hit hard. She has little to no magic spells, But she does have some...distracting moves. It’s not really magic though but she can drag attention to herself very easily. And lower her enemies stats

- In Gamvrasia Aaron becomes a werewolf (Obviously) same with Melissa and pretty much any other natural born werewolf in the Aphmau series

- Garroth becomes a Giant in the Gamvrasia. he gains the ability to shrink and Grow ((He can grow and shrink various parts of his body)) but the smallest he can get his body is the proportions of a 6'5 man.  ((garroth has the highest defence))

- Betty becomes a candy person in the Gamvrasia , She likes sucking on her fingers. The pink of her skin is much darker than the Salmon of her hair. Making it pop out alot more

- Kawaii~Chan is more or less a mage in Gamvrasia, She controls a variety of dolls & can basically create her own little fighters that can fight for her or be turned into energy for her team. But by herself her stats are horrible.

- Kim becomes a fairy in Gamvrasia, In the normal world Kim's design is that of her pre season 4 look, But while she's in the Gamvrasia she loses her need for glasses.

- When you switch from the Normal world to Gamvrasia your actually switching bodies with your Gamvrasia counterpart

- The Gamvrasia counterparts (Or vessels)) were never supposed to be conscious in the first place but because of ____ are

- The Gamvrasia are mostly not very nice. Some are though, most of them aren't horrible. But they can be rude

- I’ll probably make entire pages for each of the gamvrasia peeps. 

- Solving problems in the Rpg/combat world fixes problems in the normal world as well, Some monsters in the combat world or even normal people can affect real world people near their area. If 2 people are fighting somewhere in the Gamvrasia, People will begin feeling uneasy around that area in the real one, and accidents will become more frequent. Large scale monster attacks in Gamvrasia can cause Natural disasters, Terrorist attacks, Car crashes, Fires, Mass murder, Potentially genocide, Bombings, Ect.

-There are 5 chosen legendary hero’s in gamvrasia, each one specializing in a certain stat. Having the highest ___ stat of the cast. These heroes are Aphmau, Aaron, Garroth, Travis, & Kalzul.

The shadow Knights & Aaron 

Aaron & Melissa are slightly closer to their parents. 

Derek is less “NO TALKING TO ANYONE” to his son. since Ultima’s don’t exist

Aaron had a rebellious phase for a little bit. Derek absolutely hated it. 

The shadow knights was founded by Aaron when he was like 13-14 when he started it I think He's 17 currently in the Au. It started out as this big Gang who did whatever they wanted whenever they wanted. Over time the number of Shadow Knights dwindled people mainly left due to being disinterested, Being kicked out, or getting themselves killed trying to do something "hardcore" ((The death was a big wake up call for alot of the members which led them to kinda...leave))

Aaron - The leader of the Shadow Knights, left after some time due to disinterest, & Guilt over indirectly getting Glenda Killed. He was not quite as nice as he is now during that point in time. Aaron also just became...too mature for alot of the childish games the Shadow Knights played which was another reason why he left.

Gene - Second in command. Aarons right hand man, & one of the big recruiters of the shadow knights. He's more of the jack of all trades in the group, being able to spraypaint, Fight, Get good deals on..things, & Being able to forge doctors notes as well. He usually carries a knife around with him.   He became the leader after Aaron Left.

Sasha - You know how sasha is. She mainly just uses the Shadow knights as a cool place to hang out. She's also the best at stealing shit. One of the last three members

Zenix - Do you need explosives? well you came to the right guy! They never really use Explosives on people-...but they do blow up cars, in like desolate area’s. He stuck by Gene & Sasha after everyone else left. They are having trouble getting new members.

Zane - A kid Aaron recruited that the others aren't quite fond of. He immediately got kicked out as soon as Gene became leader. Gene's loss.

Amethyst - An old lady that can kick your ass in 7 different ways. She eventually left for probably obvious reasons...like being old, and being really sweet. And being like super sweet too sweet for the shadow knights. ((its not like she doesn't have a dark side though)) She's dead now.

Glenda - The shadow knight that died. She got herself killed trying to preform a really "HARDCORE" stunt. The rest of the shadow knights hid her body and never really told anyone what happened to her. The guilt eats at alot of the other members to this day.

Alexis - A really spunky lil kid with a LOT of moxie. She's a little girl with a gun. She really should not have a gun where are her parents omfg((Aaron usually took it away from her, or made sure it wasn't loaded...she didn't know that though. Eventually he switched it out for a fake and got rid of the old one. She never really pulled the trigger so she didn't notice.))- She left after getting caught and grounded. Laurence - He left after Glenda got herself killed. He blames most of the other shadow knights for not trying to stop her. ((when he did)) and hates a few of them((Like Aaron)) thinking of them as killers.

Vincint - One of the other shadow knights that left due to the death of Glenda. That and he was just...disinterested. he became apathetic towards the motto of the shadow knights and just kinda...leftTheir are a few other members scattered about. But the only ones stationed in Magisarav ((The town they live in)) are Gene, Sasha, & Zenix. Laurence really doesn’t like him.

The Gamvraisa vessels 

A vast majority of them are assholes, that want to destroy humanity. 

- Gamvraisia Aphmau seems nice. 

- Gamvrasia Ein is more like mystreet Ein. Even to the point where he wants to bone his sister. ((Though he doesn’t really view Gamvrasia aphmau as his sister, in his words   " Oh come on. It's not like we're related by blood or anything? The only thing linking us together as "Siblings" is the relationship between the two of us in the humans world, It's not like we have parents or anything. I really don't see why your so adamant about defining us as such." )) 

^ Gamvraisa Aphmau is Grossed out by this.

- He also has an entire freaking city that he enslaved that's named. Ein city, he isn't very creative at naming things. in the center of a city is a giant gold statue of him with a golden crown and Aphmau leaning up against him. ((Aphmau is also a werewolf in that statue, theirs no real way to turn her into one normally though))  I think the best way for me to showcase his personality is through shitposts though.

- Gamvrasia Aaron on the other hand is Gamvrasia Aphmau’s Ex who wants to kill her. For a variety of reasons

Gamvrasia Garroth steals all the time, and uses his size to get away with things. 

Gamvrasia Zane ...is just diaries zane tbh. Without the royalty.

I’m so freaking behind on my comments and recs that it’s kind of ridiculous. Forming Bonds by Eastofthemoon Words: 34,054 Author’s Summary: When Keith is told by his father he is going work along side with a young Altean named Shiro in order to protect Princess Allura he is less than thrilled. However, over time, Keith finds himself becoming more and more protective of his new friends, especially with the threat of Zarkon looming over their heads. My Comments: I love it when fics treat the development and strengthening of platonic relationships with the care and finesse that you usually only see with romantic relationships. This is a great AU in which Keith, Shiro, and Allura have to both want to form bonds with each other and work on making their relationship develop, and it’s very satisfying to read.

Invisible Bonds by Cecilia_Dreamurr for MuseofWriting Words: 9,835 Author’s Summary: Alone and forgotten, trying to make the pain stop. Yet how could he when he couldn’t even touch something, let alone try anything.He was still there right? Right? Inspired by MuseofWriting’s In the Darkness between the Stars My Comments: A spell makes Lance insubstantial and unremembered by the rest of the crew. Painful and angsty despite the cracky premise. Great comfort at the end.

Digging a Black Hole by Qpenguin98 Words: 4,049 Author’s Summary: Were he given the choice to die or be useless, he would gladly take the first. My Comments: Great exploration of Keith’s mindset before, during, and after that decision he made in the finale of Season 4.

Allura’s Never Seen Star Wars by Awseomness Words: 1,853 Author’s Summary: Pidge comes to the realization that she has an opportunity no Earthling has ever had: an opportunity to observe the impact of the storytelling of Star Wars on a person whose cultural background is not inescapably infused with Star Wars references. Someone who does not know Darth Vader is Luke’s father. Someone who does not know Leia is Luke’s sister. Someone without the cultural context necessary to recognize the admittedly poor dialogue of the prequel trilogy. Someone like Princess Allura. My Comments: Adorable. I love Pidge and Allura bonding, and the fact that it’s through Star Wars just makes it better.

Late Breakfast by GRexCarolinii Words: 1,586 Author’s Summary: “Be that as it may, you and Matt have a lot in common,”“Like what?” “Well…” Hunk paused for a long moment, choosing his words carefully, “you are both… excellent brothers,” he said with a decisive nod. — In which Lance gets jealous My Comments: Super cute. I would love this development for Matt and Lance.

Tick Tick Jump by Spazzcat Words: 2,484 Author’s Summary: Lotor does not shoot out Haggar’s weapon. Everything ends in fire, and only Matt and Coran are left to pick up the pieces. But Matt is a Holt, and Holts will go to the ends of the universe and beyond in order to save their loved ones. My Comments: Great concept, very well executed. Matt’s determination to save everyone in the face of continuous loss was amazing. He deserves his happy ending.

No Tomb Left Empty by ImpendingExodus Words: 1,646 Author’s Summary: “I dreamed you were dead.” Looking straight ahead, out at the darkness of the room, Pidge continued, “I dreamed I was back at the graveyard planet, bringing flowers to put on your tombstone. That place is gonna stick with me for a while, I think.” “Katie.” Pidge looked up again, at where Matt’s face had gone pale in the cold blue light. He was shaking his head slightly as his face crumpled and tears rolled down his cheeks. “I’m so sorry. I’m so, so sorry, Katie.” My Comments: Ouch, so painful. They did need to talk about this though.

War isn’t Pretty by SteamPowered514 Words: 2,340 Author’s Summary: A lot of injuries happened in space, most of them small little nicks and bumps. Little easy things to cover up and kiss better, the simple wear and tear of life around them and something that everyone on board was used to. A stubbed toe here, a jammed finger there. A paper cut, a scab, a scratch, a bruise, bumps, lumps, and scrapes. Lance hits his forearm on a hot metal pipe when fixing the castle with Coran, Shiro accidentally closes the oven door on his hand, Keith cuts himself when handling his own sword, Pidge trips down the stairs, Hunk catches his finger in a science experiment. The ship goes on. The humans on it learning that Alteans couldn’t get paper cuts, and had no funny bone in their elbows, couldn’t get brain-freezes, but one solid hit to a point on their hip and both legs would collapse underneath them, if you tugged on their ears it was extremely ticklish, their fingers could not jam they’d just break. Injuries in a war were much more severe, a lot more damaging. My Comments: Realistic and painful look at the kinds of severe injuries that the paladins could end up taking in the course of war. Made me feel a lot.

old familiar places by astrolesbian Words: 6,191 Author’s Summary: five birthdays hunk had at home, and one he had in space (not necessarily in that order) My Comments: Hance. This is such a sweet fic. Hunk deserves so much love.

home isn’t a place by ashinan Words: 2,493 Author’s Summary: Loneliness isn’t something new to Keith. But the pain of missing his team, his family, is soothed by their reassurance. My Comments: All of the care package items and gifts the team sends to Keith are perfect and thoughtful and sweet. A lovely birthday fic for a boy who deserves all the love.

Just the Same by DarkScales Words: 2,912 Author’s Summary: Keith’s only half Galra. He never thought his other half was all that important, given that his mother described his father’s planet as “a backwater hunk of rock literally named Planet Dirt,” until he finds out that his fellow paladins are human. Keith isn’t quite sure what to do with that. My Comments: Golly, this is adorable. I love how eager everyone is to share with Keith once they realize what his other half is. What a cute little AU.

Sacrifices by Forthediehards Words: 1,274 Author’s Summary: Matt confronts Keith after the difficult decision he made at the end of S4E6. Sometimes a little validation is all you need. My Comments: Another perspective on that decision, and quite a good one. I’m grateful for Matt here being so supportive and understanding.

Aftermath by GriffinRose Words: 1,478 Author’s Summary: SEASON 4 SPOILERS “Keith, man, talk to me,” Lance said. “What’s happening?” “I…” Keith started. He was still struggling to breathe, still struggling to wrap his mind over what almost happened, over the fact that he had to tell them what almost happened. He didn’t want to tell Lance, but Lance was here and Keith was going to lose it in a minute and at least Lance could go get Shiro or Kolivan or something. “I was going to…” “Yeah?” All at once, just like a bandaid. He could do this. “I was going to die.” My Comments: We’re probably not gonna get any sort of emotional resolution in canon for this horrible choice Keith made, so I’m very grateful for fandom giving Keith lots of hugs and comfort and heartfelt discussions in fic and art. This is a good one.

The Cost of a Cause by stayingwhelmed Words: 2,710 Author’s Summary: Matt shook his head. “Look at us.” Pidge turned to him, melancholy morphing into confusion at the grin spreading across his face. “Two of the biggest nerds from Earth, defending the universe.” Pidge returned his smile, and let out a soft giggle. Matt’s heart felt full enough to burst. He hadn’t realized just how much he’d missed his little sister’s laugh. (Pidge and Matt’s reunion and other unseen moments, told from Matt’s POV) My Comments: This so cute, you guys. So cute. I love these sweet science siblings. They love each other so much.

One Day for the Breaking, One More to Heal by pinstripedJackalope Words: 6,301 Author’s Summary: Keith did something drastic when he was trying to save Voltron in that last battle. He didn’t quite go through with it, though. A week later, his mind catches up to just what happened. My Comments: Holy wow, what a great aftermath fic. Everything just kind of sneaks up on Keith after the fact, which is how it works sometimes. I’m very, very glad Matt was there for him. And everyone else, too. This was immensely satisfying to read.

Brain Freeze by CondensationOnGlass Words: 2,027 Author’s Summary: Tumblr prompt fic! “taylor-tut said: YASS prompt time! How about some feverish Lance who has ridiculous chills and is complaining all through debriefing, irritating everyone else. As soon as debriefing is over, Pidge goes back to her room. Lance knocks on her door shivering and delirious outside her room, hoping that she might have a heated blanket. ” What the prompt says, the title- well I don’t know why either. My Comments: Holy frick, what a good sickfic. (Hey, that rhymes.) It just hits the spot, so good, gah, I love it. I just wish it was longer. Can never get enough Lance-centric sickfic. Not when you’re me.

proximity by bobtheacorn Words: 1,591 Author’s Summary: “Do you want to talk about your bad dream?” Pidge fires back with, “You want to talk about yours?” and Shiro has to relent. “…Fair enough.” //Shiro can’t sleep. Pidge is two steps ahead of him. My Comments: So sweet and achey.

Let the Rain (Come Down) by a_fearsome_thing Words: 2,541 Author’s Summary: In the midst of a thunderstorm, Lance and Shiro’s clone forge some new ground. It’s not what Lance expected. aka Lance makes a new friend and the clone gets a name My Comments: This is so sweet and achy and unexpectedly beautiful. I love the concept of Lance being the first to reach out to “Kuron” and make a connection on a human level, and this is a great example.

colors don’t fade by buttered_onions for yet_intrepid Words: 2,625 Author’s Summary: Commander Holt comes back, and Shiro doesn’t. Keith can get through this, too. A remix of Engine Won’t Turn, by yet_intrepid. My Comments: I’ve recced the fic this is based on because it’s amazing, and this is fantastic too. I wanted it to be longer, even though I’d already read the resolution from a different perspective. Keith’s loss is heartbreaking, and all the differences from canon are fascinating. I truly do love major canon-divergence AUs that just take a huge aspect of canon and flip it on its head.

The WMD by A_Zap Words: 3,081 Author’s Summary: Captured on a planet, the Paladins seem to have no way to escape. Luckily, Hunk decides to have Lance unleash their deadliest weapon. Keith doesn’t really know how to handle it. My Comments: So adorable and hilarious, omg. I believe it, too. Ambiguous Klance, but everyone is kind of attracted to Lance in this, so it barely counts.

Dishonest Mistake by ImpendingExodus Words: 2,346 Author’s Summary: Shiro’s got some walls up. When Pidge comes across a recording meant to be viewed in the event of his death, she has to confront her own feelings about the matter. My Comments: This was rough, but I loved that they were able to talk about it and come to an understanding.

The Voltron Aftershow by squirenonny for kakunamatatoes Words: 3,879 Author’s Summary: “This is the sort of work Voltron does?” Kolivan asked, cocking his head to the side. Keith hunched his shoulders, second-hand embarrassment making him want to curl up in a ball on the floor as his friends and teammates stuck cardboard boxes on their heads and… “formed” “Voltron.” “I swear we never did this when I was a paladin.” OR Keith gets to see the Voltron Show and has a little talk with the other paladins. My Comments: This is SO adorable. I love Keith getting to see his family and getting all kinds of love and having fun for this short interlude. Absolutely perfect missing scene from an episode that I enjoyed more in theory than in actuality.

A Little Unsteady by yet_intrepid Words: 2,759 Author’s Summary: When Shiro gets sick, Matt starts avoiding him. Not that it works that well. After all, their shared cell isn’t very big. Shiro tries his best to keep to his own corner, though, coughing into his elbow to prevent the germs from spreading. My Comments: This is hurt with not a lot of comfort, and it aches pretty bad, but it’s so well-written. Every time I see this author I know it’s gonna hurt and I still read it because it’s always good.

Hal

This is gonna be a long post about “why I fucking adore my AI boy” I hope you’re ready anon. Also please note I haven’t read all of the comic so I’m just going on my interpretation from what I’ve seen in comic so far and what I’ve seen in the fandom. I might be totally wrong but this is just me gushing and probably fushing about fanon Hal not canon Hal.

So, I think the first place to start is the very simple fact of his connections to Dirk. I love Dirk as a character, so Hal? He’s even better. 

He has a lot of the same issues as Dirk, a lot of the same processes, and sometimes acts as what seems to be an internal monologue for Dirk when making decisions, and I think is both more self aware of his own problems but is more dismissive of them. Case in point: lets antagonise the creator because this is what he has come to expect - self depricating comments by someone who is both him yet not him - in his time of vulnerability, oh no he’s breaking me shit I made a mistake. I think that’s another thing, actually; Hal does a lot of what people expect and maybe not enough of what he wants. Although that is a general Strider issues so, maybe the fact that he is someone I can really sympathise with, someone I’d want to genuinely help, is part of why I love him so much.

He’s like Dirk but Slightly Less Emotionally Constipated. He’s smug, arrogant, self assured, but he’s also well aware of how his actions can affect people and, in cases where he actually likes and cares for the person, seems to try to be conscious of this, unless he’s in the “doing this because it’s expected of me” mindset. Which is actually why Dirk refusing to make him a body really pisses me off. What has Hal done that actually makes Dirk object the idea of him having a body. The kid’s an asshole sometimes, sure, but I swear I remember him talking about Dirk to Roxy in a way that actually implied he might have liked to be his friend rather than his enemy. Which might be the issues there, cus... actually talk to the guy about it. Although that’s admittedly harder than it seems, considering Dirk doesn’t think much about Hal or his actions or what he does (though that says a lot more about Dirk and his own dislike of himself, and how he projects that onto Hal, and thus how Hal responds to knowing Dirk only sees him like that, than about Hal himself.) He’s basically got the perfect mix of “cocky behaviour” and “soft soul” that makes me love characters.

He’s also an AI. I love AIs. I love how human Hal is, too, especially when you compare him to other AIs. Lets go with HAL 9000 for this example. 9000 is a proper example of an AI: kind of cold, very logical, does not handle paradoxes to his coding well and goes to the extreme in an attempt to fix it. While he’s good at emulating emotions, it’s questionable if he actually feels them, besides the general worry over his life and welbeing, considering he might have had second thoughts about killing the crew. Lil Hal, on the other hand, openly falls in love with Roxy and flirts with her, makes up bullshit percentages and ridiculous comments just to get under Dirk’s skin (maybe because it’s the only reaction - genuine emotional reaction - he can get out of Dirk?), creates and takes part in memes, to the point where his own existence and his capabilities are in itself a meme, and shows he can pretty much respond with human reactions to any given situation. He’s both human and AI, with the capacity to react to things as both, which I think sometimes works against him cus his human responses and his AI actions don’t always line up. That’s the fun of being the brainscan of a human, though! And that’s another reason why I love him - it’s so interesting to see how people interpret that!

I also just want to point out that he’s an oddly sympathetic character and the way he and Dirk foil each other is fantastic. They push and push at each other, even though it doesn’t always seem like Hal wants to? And then it seems like he does because he is annoyed or angry. Then Dirk does stuff and blames Hal even though Hal probably isn’t to blame. And the two of them just go back and forth over who is right and who is wrong and who is more of an asshole and it’s just. So interesting seeing how they make enemies out of each other when really they could just settle down and work together instead, because as a unit? They work together pretty well. And, of course, you have the power imbalance. Oh that power imbalance. Hal’s “I am scared to die. Aren’t you?” line - or whatever it actually was, because I think I got it slightly wrong - is one that always hits me, because again! The perfect foil! Dirk doesn’t reply but you know he wants to say “no”. So you have... basically a human who doesn’t care for life and an AI who desperately wants it. G o d their whole relationship could have been different if Dirk had given Hal a little more trust, and if Hal hadn’t fallen into a pattern of taking on the antagonist’s role and acting as people expect.

Also? He’s just. So cute. He roleplays with the girl he loves because he can’t give her anything else, he is a complete dork who, with countless hours to do whatever he wants, spends it all on memes, and he’s a rather sad story for someone who just wants to exist. He wants to be a real boy (or actually he just wants a body but fuck it it still counts).

How do they react in a crisis: She usually looks to the leader-type of the group for direction since she’s used to it being Jason or Tommy. Now, it’s her. Which is, in short, absolutely terrifying. She’ll have to deal with possibly freezing up during really tough decisions.

How do they face problems: Her first thought is to talk it out, if possible. Violence is a last resort, one she never wants to touch unless forced to. She’s pretty emotional so she tackles her problems with her heart and gut rather than her head.

Kind of problems they usually run into: Used to be stuff like evil Power Rangers, giant monsters, and intergalactic evil space beings. But now it’s, like, heated class discussions and Prof. Tanner taking her favorite parking spot in the teacher’s parking lot.

How they react to new problems: She might hesitate a little bit and internally panic but not necessarily freak out or freeze up unless it’s a major, tough decision; she’ll still be able to work out a solution.

How they react to change: Kim’s good with rolling with the punches if they’re small changes. New teammates, new town, etc. are all fine. It might take some time getting used to, but she’s good with putting on a big smile and trying to make herself as comfortable as possible. Big changes, though? No longer being a Power Ranger? A death in the family? She still hasn’t gotten over them, and the more she thinks about them, the worst her anxiety over them gets.

i need to have everything worked out before i even start. i can’t just start writing, i need to figure out how people are feeling, what they’re doing - and to some extent i need to be in that mood too. i’ve also noticed i reuse stuff??? phrases and metaphors and stuff i kind of have a tendency to reuse them in different replies over and over again.

… literally everything????? their addictions and how they manifest, their shit choices, everything is fucked up and i just love that shit.

There’s little elements of me in all of them, really. Jimmy’s unbelievably loyal to the point of stupidity, Brad’s a deep thinker and a bit of a tink (like uh, i suppose the american word would be hick???) -dirty- i mean, Zoe’s a worrier and Little Jake’s genuine, Frankie’s got my humor and Jack, well, Jack’s just a fucking nutter. Kayleigh’s the mam friend too, which i’m totally not but i don’t have much in common with her.

So long as there’s been some thought put into it sure, go for it. plus i love throwing my team at canon characters.

What’s your favorite thing about rping a canon character?

putting your own spin on shit’s pretty cool. like i roleplayed deadpool for a while, which meant i got to use my off-kilter humor, whilst also breaking the fourth wall and commenting on how my version of deadpool had fallen into self parody. 

What’s something you dislike about rping a canon character?

is it just me or are “”””fandoms”””” very socially conscious to the point of it inflicting on the actual roleplay??? like deadpool’s a bad guy (in theory), but i was afraid to actually do anything despicable because i saw other people getting lynched for it. the last thing i want is to be DoS’d because deadpool made a joke about feminists

FREEDOM AND THE COMMUNITY IS MUCH NICER. plus like, most communities of rp go dead whenever there isn’t media to consume, the OC community just keeps on ticking

i had about 1000 followers on deadpool, 400 here and i’ve had both blogs about the same amount of time. you do have to make a far bigger push to get people interested.

i should probably state that the novel i’m trying to write is jimmy’s story, so yeah i’m often thinking of ideas of where to take the crew and shit, which obviously has a knock on effect to this blog. i also think of replies, but always forget what i was going to write.

to me, headcanons are just things that EVERYONE should be doing tbh. it’s a writing exercise really, so yeah, even if you don’t throw them out there all the time you gotta be thinking about the day-to-day little details tbh

OK in moderation. It goes back to my kind of issue with the amount of detail i need to put in. like if i shifted jimmy into the star wars universe how would that change his life? what kind of man would he be in that setting? if i put him into Marvel would he of even became a criminal?

Spiderpool. Until very recently Spider-man hated Deadpool, and even then Deadpool’s sexuality hasn’t been consistent across writers. i tend to avoid that kind of drama.

There’s going to come a point when it’s going to shift gears into something else, like, it’s kind of the same complaint with fluff except with romance/ships it’s a lot easier to kind of move it on. like jimmy could’ve been TRYING to be romantic but they got interrupted, with fluff, the entire focus tends to be on the fluff.

Yes, but it’s weird. like… the fuck am i supposed to call a dick? what about a pussy? it feels weird calling them a penis and a vagina, it feels weird calling them a dick and a pussy, it feels equally weird calling them “manhood” or “… flower???” i get fucked up by the logistics of actually writing smut in a genuine manner. like i tend to write dirty shit outwith rp in a very… uh… weird way. like nobody’s writhing around having multiple orgasms, and tbh i rarely write foreplay in much detail either, so like when i’m having to for threads i’m kinda out of my element a bit bc you don’t know what you can or can’t write.

Nah, not really. there is a big disconnect in my head between the actual media the characters from and another persons interpretation of that character.

In my head, yeah, like i think that’s the mark of a good thread when you can sum it up in your head. like “oh i need to reply to the fighty thread”

Improv mostly and i feel like i am literally the only person who prefers improv over plot. like i prefer vague plots and when i say vague i mean like “Jimmy and so&so fight ____”

Hrm. It’s quick, it’s literally like going on autopilot tbh but at the same time you can use all the development you’ve came up with to figure out what they’re saying.

Icons but i don’t mind gifs. i’ve also found if i don’t use an icon i’ll put more detail into description. icons are basically shorthand so i don’t have to put much description into what they look like.

Won’t do anime, don’t really like it tbh, everything else is game, like i’m following a rick from rick and morty right now and i wouldn’t care if they used a cartoon fc. i would probably try to match them actually, like maybe use archer as jimmy or something.
