MHBB Posting Info Dump (also emailed)
Posting day is fast approaching and this is what we've been waiting for all year!
Posting day can often be quite stressful, so we recommend talking with your partner several days before, to line everything up and make sure you are both on the same page. You will need to exchange links to your works so that one person from your group can submit your masterpost to the Murder-Husbands tumblr.
We understand that timezones and timing can be hard so therefore we will allow you to post each part (fic and art) to your chosen platforms at any point during your appointed day. However you must not promote your work until the masterpost has been submitted and posted to the MHBB tumblr.
Confused? Yeah I get it! So below i'm going to do my best to go through the process step by step for both artist and author.
Author
You must post your fic to AO3 for this challenge (You can cross post the fic to other platforms once the masterpost is live)
AO3 is great because you are able to draft your fics to the site several weeks prior to posting. This is something to consider for the time poor as the process often takes longer than expected.
Once your posting day comes you can just go ahead and press publish on that bad boy.
Things to consider - Will the art be embedded into the fic and if so where will it be hosted? Both Author and Artist have a say in this. Not all authors like to embed art in their fics and not all artist like to have their art embedded at all. Ask your partners preference and where the files will be hosted. (eg imgur)
If art is not being embedded into the fic, authors, please include a link to your art in the fic description info.
Don't forget to thank your Artist and beta readers in your fic info as well. We all know that a lot of hands go into making our work what it is!
You should also add your fic to this years AO3 collection. Go to the collections field and type in MHBB2018. This will mean that people searching out fics will be able to do so from one easy page.
Artists
Artist, you should post your work wherever you usually host your art (AO3, DevianArt, LJ, tumblr)
Artists can choose if you would like to make an art post, have your art embedded into the fic (if the author is willing), or do both. Remeber if your author doesn't want the art embedded into their fic that is their prerogative. The same goes for you not wanting the art embedded.
If possible please lock your posts or keep them in draft form until your scheduled posting day. You may not promote your art anywhere before the masterpost appears on the MHBB tumblr. (If you use tumblr to host your art, we know you cannot help the art being public before your team masterpost is approved and published, but we ask that you not cross-post to any other social network or reblog yourself until your team's masterpost is live)
We have no specific template for art posts. We would recommend that you include the title of the fic, your author's name, and a link to the fic in your post. You are expected to link to your authors fic from your art post and mention that is was illustrated for the MHBB2018
If you post your art to AO3 please add it to the offical AO3 collection - MHBB2018
Once your art is posted please send your author the link(s) to your art so they have it to link to as well.
Submitting your Masterpost
This is much the same as promo posting was, with the added links to fic and art.
One partner should go to https://murder-husbands-big-bang.tumblr.com/submit and submit your masterpost by 11.59pm in your timezone. You have 24 hours to post this so please time yourselves accordingly.
Select PHOTO to upload your banner art and then follow the template below to include all the relevant information.
Check all spelling and grammar before you submit. We will be unable to make edits for you at a later date.
Tag your post! consider #murder husbands big bang, #murder husbands 2018, #MHBB2018, (ship names, author and artist name, fic name etc)
Submit the post. Posts will not show up immediately as the mods will need to approve them. Mod Fishie is in Australia so be aware if it's nighttime in her timezone you may need to wait a while for the masterpost to be published!
YOU DID IT!!! Well done and congratulations on completing an epic year of creativity!
Upload your cover or banner where prompted
Title:
Author:
Artist:
Rating: General, Teen, Mature, or Explicit
Length: eg. 25,000 words
Pairings: Will Graham/Hannibal Lector (please put any secondary/background pairings in parentheses)
Warnings: You must warn for any of AO3’s major archive warnings. Beyond those, what you warn for is up to you.
[Your summary will go here]
Link to fic
Link to art (please note if this is NSFW)
(If your team has chosen to embed art on AO3 and not share a separate art masterpost, please write “Link to fic and art”)

Ay really quick I wanted to pop in here to say some things bc I just realized that I have like. Quite a few new and young members to the Tumblr RP community following me and I just wanted to drop some quick advice for all y’all below the cut (this is okay to reblog by the way).
Respond on your own time, not someone else’s. Sometimes our muses get finicky with which reply to respond to, sometimes real life gets in the way. Either way, take your time. Your partners will be delighted to respond whenever you do.
Don’t be afraid to drop threads. Sometimes things get overwhelming, or you lose muse for certain threads. It’s always okay to let go of a few.
Don’t forget to recharge. Like, yeah, writing is fun and all, but in order to create something, you also need to consume something. I’m a big believer that if you take in media, you will be able to put out better media, and either way maybe something will inspire you along the way. Take time to read a book, watch a TV show, play some video games, listen to a podcast, or whatever you like to do.
Remember to take breaks. Stretch your backs, eat a snack, drink some water, take your meds, get some sleep. Roleplaying comes second to your health.
NEVER, EVER FORGET: Roleplaying is a hobby, not a job. You’re here for your own fun, not someone else’s. Post what you want, whenever you want. Write as whoever you want. Write as much or as little as you want. But never because someone else wants you to.
If you feel uncomfortable about someone following, pestering, or spamming you, don’t be afraid to block them. Despite staff’s best (ha) efforts, Tumblr is full of spam/porn bots. Despite our best efforts, other people tend to steal stuff we’ve made. If you need to, and all else has failed, block a dude. I know I’ve done it before and felt SO much better afterwards.
ALWAYS ask someone first before using their art. This should go without saying, but I still always see it pop up from time to time. Ask an artist before using their artwork for icons, banners, promos, graphics, whatever. And ALWAYS be sure to credit them. Remember: when you ask, the worst they can say is no.
Feel free to roleplay with whoever you like. I’m mostly open. I know people who are selective. I know some who are private. I know folks who won’t respond to certain ways of writing because of bad past experiences. If you need to close yourself off from some folks because it makes your life easier, don’t be afraid to.
That’s about all I’ve got for y’all for now. Remember to take care of yourself before your blog, because you and your health are more important. <3
#{ OOC } That's off model!#thought that i might as well post this#i've been roleplaying on tumblr for like 6 years#times have changed A LOT since i first started (probably for the better)#but the biggest takeaway is to TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF#like i can't stress that enough#YOU ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE BLOG YOU WRITE ON

Rules: answer 30 28 questions then tag 20 people you'd like to know better
tagged by the brilliant @sure-as-eggs (thanks btw, I was giddy to see my name after I finished reading your thing, surprised me and prbly made my morning)
<p>1. Nicknames: honestly I don’t have any friends to give me nicknames. However, my childhood nickname was Roo (like from Winnie the Pooh, because I was bouncy we loved tigger). My actual name is Marley though! (I think) /yes like the dog<br>
2. Gender: female? <br>
3. Star sign: Taurus ♉<br>
4. Height: 5'0"<br>
5. 6:44 PM <br>
6. Birthday: April, 30th (allegedly) /fun fact, this is also the day Hitler died<br>
7. Favorite bands: I usually have favorite songs rather than favorite bands,,,, Imagine Dragons, Fall Out Boy, Arctic Monkeys, Flat Sound, Queenand probably many others <br>
8. Favorite Solo Artists: I listen to a lot of P!nk (recently), Frank Sinatra, Ed Sheeran, Bon Jovi, uhhh,,, Sam Smith, Taylor Swift (recently) Marina and the Diamonds,,,idk,, yeah OH RICHARD WALTERS DEF<br>
9. Song stuck in my head: I’m listening to music rn so this is sorta hard, but I hard Secrets by Pink stuck in my head earlier. Now I’m all about Toms Diner tho.<br>
10: Last movie I watched: fuck uhh,,,, I think Princess in the Frog but I watch a lot of tv so that might not be accurate. (random movie related, I’m playing to do a batman / marvel movie marathon in a couple days when I’m on break, I’m super excited). <br>
11: Last show I watched: lmao no idea I jump around too much. Probably Gotham, Girl Boss, or something else honestly who knows (hey recommend me some shows to watch I need something). <br>
12. When did I create my blog: who,,, who knows man, , not me. Probably sophomore year. But I had another tumblr before this <br>
13. What do I post: on this blog? Although it’s my main blog, it’s my junk blog. All my other blogs are themed and have certain things that are reblogged to them (I have a compulsive need to be so organized, everything needs to have a place), this blog is for the leftover things the don’t fit in my blogs; mainly memes, animals, and neat stuff. But whatever really. <br>
14. The last thing I googled: good question, one sec; lyrics to Tom’s Diner (an aforementioned song, I heard Robin Lord Taylor singing it and I wanted to know what song it was so I looked up the lyrics he is singing). However have 38+ other tabs open bcs I am an animal. </p><p>
15. Any other blogs: lol, yeppp. A lot. Too many really. I don’t necessarily use them all either. My Gotham one is my most actively, constantly using that one. Then this on I’d second most used, then the positivity one, then so forth. I honestly basically have a blog for most everything. (my personal-personal blog is beforethelion, I haven’t updated for a terribly long while but I plan to start using it again verrrry soon for photography, poems, videos, art, like basically whatever Im doing that day;; so like self promo I guess lmao)</p><p>
16. Do I get asks: nope, neverr. however I leave them to others all the time. I genuinely enjoy complimenting people and spreading a good vibe. </p><p>
17. Why I chose my URL: for this blog, I just liked these two words so I put them together, then voila. But for my beforethelion one I actually have a significant reason, but if I were to talk about it I would ramble and make this thing 10x longer than it needs to be (like it already is) so I won’t explain. But if anyone does wanna know my ask box is open 😉as for my others, about half have reasons and half are aesthetic </p><p>
18. Following: 1880
19. Followers: 241 for this one, 33 for my Gotham one (I weep because I want to be more part of and involved with the fandom but;; I don't know how to like do that''' I can't engage, ,,, then beforethelion has 54 (simultaneously surprised and disappointed)</p>
20. Average hours of sleep: depends if I'm having "issues". Lately I have been so not very much, but majority of the time I have my full 8 hours
21. Lucky number ugh
22. Instruments: trying to grasp the piano, played saxophone in middle school, own 3 guitars but just don't
23. What am i wearing: black pajama bottoms and a marble tee ;))
24. Dream job: fuck.. Actor tbh but like yeah. Currently attending a career center because I wanted to be an animator/film developer buttt the entertainment industry is a mess. Love love to be a surgeon not school is expensivvvee and what if I suck. So I've lowered my goals to history professor (college grade is the dream but I might end up settling for high school).
25. Dream trip: god,,, I never travel oh,, honestly actually probably New York. I'd love to leave America and indulge km another culture and land of course but god, new york. I gotta go.
26. Favorite food: im hungry right now so, everything.
27. Nationality: American
28. Favorite song right now: no, no, no-nonon, we are not doing this, no. I,, have a lot of music. Whenever I see a song title/lyrics/artirst/whatever or hear something that's interesting I just gotta screen shot it/ write it down. I do this a lot (I screenshot other people's answer to this if that says anything). So I have a good amount of music I need to listen to. So t the end of the day I try to listen to a good chunk of it. Whenever I like one of the new songs, I save it. On average I approximately add 10ish songs every day. It's a lot of music,,,,, I refuse
Okayokayokay,, finally, here we are: the end. I was soso happy to be nominated for one of these things. I never pay attention to my existence/acknowledge myself/ever talk about myself/ever talk to anyone/ever talk/ever have done one of these before :) So really it was a lot of fun. I'd like to nominate people but, all my mutuals are on my Gotham blog and god, can you imagine that : engaging.
#g o d#I am sorry this is#long#I rambled dearly#but I enjoyed this#I miss#miss miss#writing#and elaborating on myself#that's nice#kinda#therapeutic I think#to put yourself into perspective#anyway#J have a lot of commentary I could make#but this has been#a lot of typing on my phone#and I'm still hungry#so imma go get some food now#thank you#sincerely

dude, how do you even get that many asks. i started one last month, and I barely had anything come in.
Honestly? I still don’t understand it myself since I don’t post regulary and my blog is still pretty new-
But I’m not new to ask blogging and I’ll give you a few tips under the cut!
Always remember to write out tags - The more tags the better, if you aren’t getting many reblogs then this is the main way that people will discover you. Think as your followers, what would you type if you wanted to see a new ask blog or some work of your favourite character?
Quality or quantity - You need to chose if you would rather reply a lot and quickly or if you’d rather reply slower but with a higher quality drawing. For example, I always chose quality because I think it makes me develop my artwork at the same time. If you are going to chose quantity then I’d suggest making them queued posts so they are more spread out and consistant.
Interact with other blogs - This may seem quite obvious but it’s one of the easiest ways to get noticed! Just sending in an ask is all it takes. This show’s their followers your blog and your followers their blog! It’s a nice way to almost promo both blogs. If you’re like me and have trouble coming up with what to ask, don’t worry! I’ve talked to a few people about this and they all say that they find it awkward too
ALWAYS reply with drawings - I can’t stress this enough! I have seen blogs with strings and strings of just roleplays with other muses. Honestly it makes any followers very quickly uninterested and most the time just damn confused. Replying with drawings makes it much more aesthetically pleasing, after all ask blogs are ART blogs. Don’t get me wrong I love roleplaying and do it daily, but I have a seperate roleplay blog and roleplay in private chats.
Don’t be afraid to send asks in yourself - There is no shame in this, I have done it myself and so have most of my friends, not to mention other popular blogs such as ask-aph-fruk have said that they send in anon asks. This is also super helpful if you want to move the story of your muse forward or just really want to do a certain M!A.
Be helpful and friendly to other blogs - Even if it’s just giving one of their posts a reblog for a promo or sending in an ask saying you love their character, it doesn’t have to be much. This shows that you’re friendly person and are aproachable to them, they may even send in an ask themselves. Don’t be worried if they’re a popular blog or not, any artist loves a kind word for their work. Kindess can go a long way in the ask blog comunity
Don’t be afraid to ask for asks - Sometimes your followers wont know that you don’t have asks and that you can’t post anything. Just a small doodle of your muse asking for them is fine and I’ve done it myself. It’s better to draw something for this since it catches people’s attention a lot better than some text.
Persevere - Once I started this blog I had one (rather stupid) ask and 10 followers for a couple of weeks, I had a lot of doubts and wanted to delete this account all together. But a few days later some people had rebloged my work and I got noticed. Before I knew it I had people messaging me about how much they like my art style and interactions flying in. It’s a matter of time and you must remember that
Stay optimistic - I hate to see blogs go under because they don’t get noticed and it get’s to their mun, which is totally understandable but still heartbreaking. It can really hurt your confidence when you spend days on a peice only to get two notes (which admittedly happened to me the other day). I am having a hard time trying to get noticed in the Voltron fandom at all, the fandom is terrifying in itself. Death threats get sent around because of ships, it’s got to the point where I’m terrified to say who I actually ship. But I’m still there, I’m still creating Voltron content because your artwork is for YOU. No one else, please remember this. Many people, even my art teachers and parents, have told me stuff like ‘Anime isn’t a proper art style’, ‘OMG! You’re such a weeb!’ or even ‘Yeah but can you draw real people?’. It’s frustrating but that’s what being an artist is. You have to realise that the amount of notes do not define you as an artist. You are worth more than your amount of followers and you are so strong in carrying on with your hobby no matter the amount of people who doubted you. I’m proud of you.

Hi! I want to start a artblr but idk how. Could you give me tips on how to start one? Also I would like to hear your experience since you are my inspiration :) Thanks!
Um, first of all thanks so much! Honestly I just started by posting stuff on tumblr. That was it honestly. I’d recommend setting up a queue with a bunch of your older stuff while you’re setting up your blog and stuff. You definetly do better if you post consistently, like every day or every other day. I’ve noticed my likes/reblogs go way down if I don’t post for a couple weeks. I personally like at least trying to do art challenges like Inktober or MerMay (though I haven’t done that one) since there’s a community of people who are also doing the thing and you can talk to them about it and share your stuff.
Also while I enjoy my Tumblr and obviously chat with people, I also post to Instagram because it’s easier to find people’s art/chat with people there. I have IFTTT (If This Then That) set up so all of my Instagram posts are sent to my Tumblr drafts. You *can* set them up to automatically post to your blog, but I don’t recommend that because then it won’t have tags.
Also follow art promo blogs! They’ll often share your stuff, which helps more people find you. Personally my faves are @artists-everyday and @artist-promos because they have a good mix of art styles and art levels. Typically all you have to do is follow them and they’ll end up following you back. Just as importantly, you’ll find cool people who post cool art.
Lastly: talk to people. This sounds super obvious, but I didn’t realize you need to do this for a while. See a post you like? Tell the person you like it, and why. Goes double if it’s obvious they worked really hard on it. I promise it’ll make their day, and you’ll start making new friends. That’s honestly the best part of having an artblr blog.
Oh, and side note: I chose to run this as a sideblog but not link it to my main because I wanted my main to be for stupid fandom things and this blog sort-of professional. (ie. if Disney wanted to hire me and saw it I wouldn’t die of embarrassment). Some people have a separate Tumblr account for their main so they can send asks and follow directly from that account. Some people choose to link their side and main. Honestly you can do whatever, but if you want to do art as a career, that’s probably something you want to keep in the back of your mind when you’re setting up your blog.
Um yeah, so this is super long and I meant for it to be short. If you have any more questions, you can send another ask or you can PM me.

(1/3)Okayyyy so i mightve sent a few asks abt this before but this topic is really now bugging me cuz i have depression and im sensitive to like everything. Im starting to take this "not getting notes on my art" thing really personally and i know it sounds childish (and i laugh at myself for it) but i cant help but get upset when i spend so much time and effort and get like no feedback. And i know people say not to draw what u love and not for attention but honestly i dont even know what
and i dont even know if im drawing what ilike sometimes. Yeah i love bts but i dont know if i like what im drawing or ifim just doing it for notes???? And i have a lot of anxiety too and thats wherei feel like im taking this too personally. Cuz im starting to think that my artdoesnt get notes cuz its straight up not good which leads me to think ishouldnt even try to pursue a career in art anymore. But im not good atanything else so wtf am i gonna do if i dont succeed in art???? Like i said i laugh at myself for thinking like this and iprobably sound like a fuckin child but i cant help it???? Like i think my artis decent???? But maybe its not???? Idk like this was really hitting me todaycuz i feel like im wasting so much time and im probably gonna be one of thosepoor college students cuz i decided to focus on art more rather than taking ajob cuz i thought i could make money off of my art but yknow clearly its notgoing so well and im scared for my future U dont have to give advice to all of that i just needed tolet that all out
Aw dude don’t worry I get what you mean,I actually experienced something similar when I first started posting my art totumblr, and even recently when I first started posting bts fanart. It’sperfectly normal to want recognition (in this case in the form of notes) forsomething you worked so hard on!! I think one of the major issues with postingto such a big fandom such as bts though is that there’s so many peopleproducing content at any given time, that it’s incredibly easy to get drownedout. Especially since tumblr changed how search and track tagging worked, itmade it that much harder for people to get noticed for their content.
When I first switched to drawing for bts,I found it hard because I also focused a lot on my note count. For someone whowas originally well established in a previous fandom, the move to bts was quitea jarring experience. I had built my following on tf2 art, and used toconsistently get a couple hundred notes, but one of main reasons why I left wasbecause of the dwindling of note counts. When I first left, overwatch had justcome out and a lot of attention shifted towards that game away from tf2, andalthough I still love the game, the dramatic decrease in notes on my art fortf2 really made me sad and I ended up deciding to leave the fandom after 3years of drawing tf2 art. I hopped around a bit, before eventually getting intobts. Even then, my first few pieces (they’re not on my #bts fanart tag so mostpeople wouldn’t have ever seen them) either got no notes at all or only two orthree. It was easier for me to establish myself in a fandom such as tf2 back inthe day since it was such a small, tight knit community with limited contentcreators, but now with bts there are so many more people and it just seemedhopeless for a while and I lost motivation in my art. I stopped wanting todraw, since it felt like nobody cared. Art is the biggest hobby I have, solosing my confidence in my art was crushing.
Now you might be wondering how I got towhere I am today. I’ll be completely honest with you. For me, I highly doubt Iwould be anywhere near where I am if it weren’t for networks. I had neverjoined a network before, but decided to join armiesnet and jimin network one daywhen I saw that applications were open. I got accepted, and I joined theirrespective group chats too. I met lots of great people on those chats, and madea lot of new friends which was nice after having moved fandoms and lost touchwith many previous mutuals. I’m so glad I joined networks, because not only doyou have the chance to make mutuals who will support you and your art, thenetwork blog itself also reblogs all its members’ content which gives youexposure to members of the network through both the network tag and through thedashboard. It’s a perfect way to get started, rather than hoping that somebodywith a decent following will happen to stumble across your work in the tags oneday and reblog it.
That being said, unless you’re like somesort of godly human being I don’t think we can ever get over how note countsfeel as an artist. We need something to gauge people’s response to our art, andthat tends to default to note counts. I can assure you that the feeling of disappointmentwhen your post doesn’t get as many notes as you want/expected it to is a thingpretty much all artists on this site shares. People always say “you should drawfor yourself, not for other people” but that’s the equivalent of like say themona lisa being painted and then left to rot in Da Vinci’s closet or something. The whole point of art is sharing your ideas/love for something through yourdrawings with other people, and so it’s perfectly normal to want therecognition you deserve for working so hard and putting so much love into yourcraft. When it feels like you’re all alone, you have to remember not to giveup. Creating art in such a big fandom can be unforgiving, but just rememberthat your art is never the one at fault. It’s all about finding that littlegolden window of exposure, whether it be through one big blog or a couplesmaller blogs reblogging your work. Those kind few people will be what helpsyou grow, and you have to keep posting for that to happen. If you water a plantbut it doesn’t bloom the next day, abandoning it will get you nowhere. If youjust keep going, keep watering it, results will come. Keep reminding yourselfthat you’re doing well, and you can compare older art to your current art tosee the progress and keep you motivated. Don’t force yourself to draw if youaren’t feeling it – art is something that should make you happy. I used to drawbecause I felt the pressure to put out content, but that just resulted in mefalling into a negative spiral of art block, limited motivation and generalunhappiness with my art as a result. Remember that there’s no such thing as adeadline when it comes to posting art on tumblr – work at whatever pace suitsyou and if anybody tries to rush you, shut them down. You’re the artist, youget to choose what you do with your art, how you do it, and how long you spendon it.
If you truly have your sights set onbecoming an artist full time, then by all means go for it! I can’t give muchadvice in that area since I only plan on keeping art as a hobby, but justremember that art school is always optional. In the end, working as an artistis all about the portfolio, not where you graduated from. It’s more importantto work on your art than it is to get in to an amazing art school. Sure, artschools can be useful, but in the end they are simply tools, sort of like atutorial rather than something that will magically turn you into an amazing artistwith amazing job offers. At the end of the day, it’s all up to yourself to workhard and promote yourself. Since art is all about reaching different audienceswith your work, promoting yourself is essential, even if it’s just casualfanart on tumblr. Feedback can’t come without exposure, and exposure can’t comewithout self-promotion.
Lastly, remind yourself that there’s nosuch thing as ‘bad art’. That might sound like a stupid statement, but inreality art is a constantly changing thing. There is no pinnacle of perfection,no model artwork that represents the most perfect drawing out there. Everyonehas different styles, everyone has different approaches, and most importantly, everyone is still improving. I’m still learning and trying to improve my ownart, and there’s no shame in that. It’s easy to perceive someone else’s art asbetter than yours which would lead to some self-critical thoughts, but you haveto remember that the other artist is probably looking at their own art andpicking it apart, thinking “aw man there are so many mistakes here.” It’s fineto make mistakes, after all, that’s how we learn. Just because we see mistakesin our own art doesn’t mean that everyone else will too – nobody looks at artand their first thought is to list all of the mistakes present. As long as youare aware of what you are less confident in and actively work to improve it,you can quickly surpass even the people you look up to.
So yeah, sorry that this is hella longlol, but in all honestly I can understand what you’re going through. It’seasier said than done, but even though it might feel hard - don’t give up. Youmight feel like you’re not getting anywhere at the moment but I assure you thatif you just keep going, things will only get better. That’s the thing abouttumblr, if you keep posting art your audience can only grow. For now, I would definitelyrecommend joining some networks, and making some friends. It’s not uncommon forpeople to promo their own work in the network chat occasionally, as long as youdon’t spam haha
Anywho, I wish you the best of luck withyour art journey. If you need me you know where to find me 💕💕💕
#long post#sorry I kind of rambled#but anon if you want to talk to me don't be afraid to message me instead#I'm always here if you need to vent 💕#asks#Anonymous#art asks
