Hello!
Why do you only answer anon questions?
I recently saw an author note suggesting something like that. Is there any reason why?
Hi anon,
I don't only ever answer anon questions. It just looks that way because I answer most non-anon questions privately. I.e. - Where you can't see the responses.
I actually don't get to all of my asks, both anon and off-anon. So I mostly answer asks (anon or non-anon) when:
a) The social anxiety isn't too bad b) I have time (my priorities for writing go in this order: Writing -> Responding to recent chapter comments -> Editing (that should be before comments but whoops) -> Being active on the Fae Tales Discord -> Doing admin (schedule / Patreon posts / Ream posts / round up / scheduling excerpts / posting excerpts / Tumblr chapter updates) -> Asks (not all, mind, just some. I usually try to go in batches of 3, but sometimes I can't, like now, because it's literally midnight) -> Replies to comments on older works.)
Rest of this going under a Read More because the TL;DR is: I work hard, am pretty sick, and I cannot get to all of my asks, and I also reply to plenty of non-anon asks, just not in a place where you can see them, anon.
c) I'm well enough to even get to all of those things in the first place, which I'm often not, especially since we got a special needs dog who has - it seems - as many health issues as I do. (I'm literally going to bed in about five minutes because I need to be up early so he can go under general anaesthetic for X-rays)
With the addition:
d) I kind of want to have hobbies and stuff. And see loved ones. And look after my garden.
As a result of all of that, I am extremely time poor. When I'm not working, anon, I am usually horizontal, and trying to rest re: chronic illnesses.
It's not that I choose to only answer anon asks, I answer plenty of non-anon asks privately, but I cannot get to all of my asks (I currently have, er, 93, I haven't responded to - I'm so sorry everyone, I'll get to that when the guilt of not having any Palmarosa this month isn't as bad asdlkfjas).
Social anxiety also means I feel terribly guilty if I let an ask go longer than about 1-2 months without me answering, which doesn't help much! Sometimes being a single person trying to get to everyone while doing the main thing that people are here for (the writing) while like, going to the hospital, getting MRIs for myself, X-Rays for my dog and so on just means that... I cannot get to everything the same way I used to. Honestly even back then, my therapists were begging me to do less and work less hard sadlfkjsa (I cannot tell you how often I've found it amusing we've focused less on the CSA in my past and more on how much of a workaholic I am).
It might change when I'm not working on like 8 stories at the same time anymore, but then I'm sure I'll have folks on anon in my inbox, telling me I don't write enough anymore. (That's okay, they'll have old stories to reread asldfkja)
I am doing my absolute best, and very often, I am surpassing my limits whee.
But I definitely don't only answer anon questions, you just don't see them as much on my Tumblr, because I like the opportunity to give more personal responses to people rather than the 'oh you forced me to respond to this in front of an invisible crowd, so now I have to reply like I'm responding to many people, instead of just one.' Whether that means I have to be more educational, or explain more, or make it clearer to folks that it's not personal (because now I'm not just thinking of you, anon, but all the other people who have sent me asks that I haven't been able to reply to, and I'm now having to reply to all of them as well, in case they see this), etc. It's just a different vibe. Sometimes I really enjoy that. Sometimes it's incredibly stressful.
Folks using their account name invariably get private responses, unless they send me lots of asks, and then... I just... alas, have to be really careful with my time.

Fic Writer Questions
Thank you so much @lazybakerart for tagging me! 💋
This is long so I’ll put it under a cut haha
I’ll tag @peachypunk22 , @withoneheadlight , @hoegrove , @passivenovember , @lovebillyhargrove (if you want to 💗 )
How many works do you have on AO3?
*sweats nervously* 54 haha
What’s your total AO3 wordcount?
1,378,705
How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Stranger Things / Harringrove
Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan) / Eruri
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them / Crewt
Merlin (BBC) / Merthur
Captive Prince / Lamen
Haikyuu! / several ships
Ancient Greek Mythology / Zeus x Ganymede
Starfighter (HamletMachine comic) / Cain x Abel
Deadpool & Spider-Man / Spideypool
Pride and Prejudice / genderbent Elizabeth so it’s ~ * gay * ~
Uncharted (video game)
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Anonymous (eruri), How it Works (kuroken), Something Else (eruri), Broken Chemistry (merthur), Right Time, Right Place (spideypool).
These are my oldest fics, so it makes sense that they’d have higher numbers.
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
I respond about 50% of the time. Sometimes I just don’t have much to say back, or I’m not in a decent mindset to reply. If the commenter is hyped and has a lot to say, I’ll probably get excited and respond back.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
It’s not done yet, but my Harringrove fic, Kiss, Consume. It’s part 1 of a bigger two-part fic, and therefore part 1 ends really sadly. Part 2 will be a happy ending, though haha
Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve ever written?
I’ve written SpideyPool. Right Time, Right Place. It’s also not done LOL but whenever I finally write my Harringrove / The Mummy_au, that will probably be a crossover because I can’t really see all the ST characters working in place of the Mummy’s characters.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Yes. It’s awful. Let it be known that it doesn’t matter how old a fic is, if you leave a kind comment on something, you’re sparing that fic from deletion. I’ve nearly deleted Broken Chemistry so many times, but every now and then someone comes along who thanks me for writing it and sharing it. So I let it stay.
Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I do! I write rather fluffy smut lol I’m a fragile bean. The spiciest I get is lingerie and extremely mild bondage.
(Mind you, my writing prior to Harringrove was VERY different. I was neck deep in Game of Thrones and it shows. I thought good writing had to have sexual shock factors. Thankfully I’ve left that behind, and my writing has gotten much softer haha)
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
......not that I know of. Don’t jinx me, please haha I’ll have a conniption.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope, not yet ~
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope haha
What’s your all time favorite ship?
Harringrove, easily. These messy boys have endless potential and the community is unreal.
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Starlight (merthur)
What are your writing strengths?
I write quickly haha it’s kind of absurd how fast and loose I go about things. Everyone else uses Professional™ writing outlines and stuff. I’m just like *keyboard smash* alskdfjslkdfjlsdfjsdkfj
*uploads 3 chapters in a week*
~ Ta-dah ~~~~
That doesn’t mean any of it is good lol
What are your writing weaknesses?
I often feel like I’m using the same 4 sentence structures over and over again. And I once saw “writing advice” that said, “pay attention to how often you use the word ‘was’.”
That fucked me up lol now I feel like I’m a monotonous criminal every time I use was and were.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
If it’s not my native language, I don’t really have any right to a strong opinion. I once had a native French speaker come to me to correct all of my French mistakes in a fic and I was very grateful for it lol the last thing I want to do is insult someone just because I’m trying to be ~immersive~
What was the first fandom you ever wrote for?
Eragon LOL that was when I was, like, 8 or 9. Obviously I didn’t even know what fanfiction was and therefore thought I was doing something totally original lol
Fast forward a decade and I wrote Something Else for eruri ~
What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
Dracula Has a Mullet. It’s far from done but it’s my first Harringrove fic and very very special to me.

Creative Writing: If Capitalism was a Person
Written by Melis Kolat
Tumblr media
In the company that I work at, there exists a known tradition: every new employee must meet the company CEO at the local coffee shop to get to know him, learn about his values, and hear his advice on “how to take over the world.” As a brand new employee, today was the day I was scheduled to meet the infamous CEO and listen to the life experiences that have led him to be listed as the single most influential business owner in the world. He was the type of businessman who everyone knew the name of, but despite his enormous popularity, no one knew much about him. Yet somehow, he still impacted everyone on an individual scale. One thing was known about him though, and it was his amazing ability to make profit out of everything. His name was Capitalism, and I was supposed to meet him in 5 minutes.
When I entered the coffee shop right on time, Capitalism was already sitting at the reserved table with a smart smile set on his face. Before I even had the chance to introduce myself, “You can never be too early for meetings!” he remarked, condescendingly. He was just over 50 years old, yet a sense of youthfulness dominated his face. It was surprising to me that he was able to look this young and lively when he worked all his lifetime draining the life out of his workers. The enigmatic expression on his face made it obvious that he hid a lot, but it also radiated the perfect amount of charm. Once you looked at Capitalism’s face, you were fixated and knew that he would become an unavoidable part of your life. The baristas in the coffee shop seemed to have been affected by him as well— as everyone was fully fixated on their jobs. I wasn’t surprised though; I was told his presence had this effect on workers.
Just as I attempted to introduce myself to him again, he cut me off: “Let me ask you something. Have you read my most recent book called ‘Increasing Productivity at Home: No Sleep Edition?” to which I responded, “Of course I did! It is the essential guidebook to survive in 2020.” He looked satisfied with my positive response, and told me he was eager to tell me everything he knew about how to thrive and make profit in modern society. His eyes glistened with joy and power as he prepared to tell me his biggest talents.
“One of my best assets is my ability to enter the subconscious minds of people and control them through thoughts they believe are their own. Have you ever felt your alarm clock leak into your dreams, waking you up with a terrible fear of being late for your job, your school, or your interviews? Have you ever punished yourself for not being productive enough within the day?” As Capitalism continued his monologue, his words eventually got more enthusiastic: “Most probably you did, because I have wired the brains of people to make them equate self-worth with productivity. This is how I maintain a sustainable working class to serve my many needs.”
The most effective way to control society is to impose beliefs that people eventually begin to internalize and act upon, I noted down in my little notebook. I could tell he was eager to continue. He added: “...and for those who are not productive enough, I make it very hard for them to have a good place within society.” “What do you mean?” I said. “Are you saying that you categorize unproductive people as odd and exclude them from society?”
“Yes!” said Capitalism. “How do you think mental conditions developed? How do you think, as a society, we decided on what was ‘normal’ or ‘abnormal’ in mental health? I classified people’s mental conditions according to their ability to function within my societal demands, instead of classifying them according to the distress they experience. Let me give you an example. In our culture, people who hear voices, or auditory hallucinations, are considered “psychotic.” However, in Indian or African cultures, these voices are considered playful, friendly, entertaining; and they are even interpreted as a message from positive spirits. I have made it so that only in my culture, those who experience intrusive thoughts are excluded from society and labeled as “abnormal” or “sick” — simply because of their inability to be productive.”
I was extremely intrigued. Capitalism had categorized mental conditions based on people’s ability to contribute to his insatiable desire for productivity. It fascinated me how people who are “psychotic” in our culture could be considered shamans who communicate with the spiritual world in other cultures. The most fascinating part was that Capitalism was not satisfied with excluding unproductive people from society — he also felt the need to profit off of them, which was why the mental health industry in the U.S. was as big as $19.6 billion. Eager to learn more, I asked: “What are other ways you make it hard for unproductive people to function properly within society?”
He replied: “Another example is disabled people. You see, these people are considered disabled only because I do not choose to provide enough accommodations for their needs. A person who uses a wheelchair is not disabled in a society with many well-placed ramps and elevators. By not providing such means for ‘disabled’ people to overcome physical or even mental barriers, I marginalize them, because they aren’t productive anyway.” He got closer to me and looked me directly in my eyes. Fervently, he added: “Only the productive people must thrive for me to achieve full power.”
What I was seeing here was that disabled people had been made disabled through Capitalism’s eagerness not to provide for unproductive people. How interesting was that Capitalism had altered our perception so deeply that we failed to consider societal barriers when defining what was normal. Capitalism did not even give me a chance to consolidate my thoughts, as he jumped in to explain yet another one of his talents:
“I also create insecurities, for the sole purpose of profit. If I can make people doubt themselves, I can get them to buy anything that they feel would overcompensate for this deep feeling of inadequacy. The beauty industry’s marketing approach is my biggest achievement in this manner. Had they never come up with specialized anti-age creams, no one would become so insecure about having wrinkles on their faces as they matured. No one would become so eager to purchase those creams. Had they never presented unrealistic women body types on magazine covers, no one would doubt their bodies and run to buy so-called “skinny detox tea.” There are many other examples, but the main message is that insecurity sells. So, it is in my best interest to impose insecurities on society to generate as much profit as I can.”
As I listened to Capitalism fervently and spitefully explain his most effective techniques, I realized that everything I had thought to be abnormal was simply an idea imposed on me by Capitalism and its values. Those who are considered severely mentally ill, disabled, insecure have been made that way by Capitalism himself. That was how he maintained his immense power; by reducing people to their productivity, excluding everyone that was not productive, and even making profit out of this cycle.
The time allocated for our coffee shop meeting was now over, and as we were preparing to leave, Capitalism told me one final thing, a “motto” he called it: “Man exploiting man is the basis for all power.” These were the words that I would never forget. I would also never forget how, even though he was the richest businessman in the world, he had left the bill for me to pay.
I left the coffee shop meeting with Capitalism as a transformed person, experiencing the uncomfortable consequence of becoming enlightened. What was I to do with this newfound information? Wasn’t I to become a college student who essentially aims to thrive in a society built on the values of Capitalism as well? From time to time, do I not define my self-worth based on my productivity, too? Which insecurities have I developed because of Capitalism’s ideas?
Posing these self-reflection questions was, perhaps, the only momentary escape from an all-consuming Capitalist society. In the end, as much as I disagreed with him, he was still my CEO, right?

Sabbath Ramblings: The Breastplate Of Presence. - Ben Greenfield Fitness - Diet, Fat Loss and Performance Advice
Tumblr media
Last night, the Lord anointed me with His Presence. It came out of the blue. I was never really fully aware of how unpresent I am and have grown to be for so long until He spoke this truth to me in a moment of silence.
It began with me thinking about the way I spend my day, and dwelling upon the Groundhog-day-esque nature of much of my life these days: accomplish one task, move on to the next task, complete the next piece of content, read the next book, listen to the next podcast, prepare for the next meal, have “quick conversations” on the phone, shoot off hurried email replies, rinse, wash and repeat. But see, God cares about each day. Sure, 2 Peter 3:8 in the Bible says that a thousand years are as a single day to God, yet this doesn’t mean he doesn’t still care for each of these days, hours, minutes, seconds, and microseconds.
And this means that for us to be fully grateful, fully aware, fully impactful, fully purposeful, fully excellent, and living fully to the glory of God each day we must also be present each day, present each hour, present each minute, present each second, present each microsecond, and perhaps most importantly: present each breath.
This anointing of and extreme awareness of Presence that God gifted to me is hard to describe, but I will try. I felt Presence fitted upon my torso like the most thin, delicate, fragile glass breastplate you can imagine. It is completely translucent, shimmering, glowing, and flowing with each twist and move of my body. Like glass, Presence can shatter at a moment’s notice, but unlike glass—and more like water or a seamless fluid—it can instantly reform after it is broken, if the awareness of the broken Presence and the desire for Presence returns. As one learns to care for this “breastplate of Presence,” one can grow better and better at keeping it from shattering, and reforming it when it is broken.
One of the best ways to maintain the integrity of Presence is with breath. Imagine that each inhale charges the Presence with a deep white and blue light, and each exhale sends tendrils, vibrations, frequencies, and atoms of that Presence wherever God inspires you to direct your Presence.
The world so desperately needs Presence, doesn’t it?
In an age of constant distraction, and doing, doing, doing as human doings instead of human beings, most people’s Presence is constantly non-existent or shattered. Yet not many people speak of the importance of Presence. Mindfulness, yes. Focus, yes. Awareness, yes. But Presence has an altogether different ring to it when the word is said aloud or envisioned as this breastplate upon the body.
I want to help teach Presence to people. God has placed this upon my heart. Family is foundation, so I must begin by teaching my twin boys River and Terran Presence. Presence for each tiny bubble of air in each of their young inhales and exhales. Each padded footstep out of their bed in the morning. Each ray of sunshine that strikes their skin. Each drop of rain that settles on their head. Each bite of food slowly lifted to the lips and savored and chewed. Each sip of wine and olive oil and yes, even water. Pure, unadulterated Presence must saturate the life of one who wants to be fully connected to loving others and loving God..
How is our Presence broken?
Sure, as I’ve already mentioned, our daily distractions—particularly technology, work, and endless to-do lists—threaten each moment to break our Presence, but I think the vicious cycle begins when we are young. Think back to your childhood, something so many of us fail to regularly do. Remember who you were as a child before you began to feel the pressure to become who you thought the world wanted you to be, rather than your true, authentic self God called you to be. Presence began to fade when it was overwhelmed by all the running, lifting, twisting, twirling, spinning, catching, releasing, starting, ending, consuming, and endless trying and yearning as you tried to be who the world wanted you to be, rather than that fragile breastplate of Presence remaining with you on the constant because you were satisfied with the peace of being who God had called you to be.
If you return to this Presence, if you momentarily stop dancing through the bullets of the matrix of life, you can become connected to your true purpose. You are not ashamed of your purpose statement, you are not so caught up in the doing that you forget about the being, and you have deep knowing that if you cannot be present, then there is too much.
You know. Too much to do. Too much to tend to. Too much to make. Too many promises to keep. Business to tend to. Books to write. Books to read. Tests to take. School to do. Things to record. Phone calls to dial. Equipment to clean. New things to try. Mail to open. Mail to send. Yes, yes, yes to all the shiny pennies and “opportunities” accompanied by a relative lack of “no, this distracts me from Presence.” These tasks and to-do lists can all seem very honorable and productive, but at the end of the day result in little meaningful impact versus focusing with excellence upon one fully present task done well or one fully present conversation that leaves someone feeling truly cared about because you took the time, looked into their eyes, listened with patience and loved.
Until today, until I truly realized what Presence is, my purpose statement was “to empower people to live a more joyful, adventurous, and fulfilling life.” But I realize now that this purpose statement doesn’t place me in the present, and indeed, tempts me to be and even paints me into a corner of being some kind of strong, chest-thumping warlord who leads people on adventure quests in a never-ending cycle of unfulfilling doing. So what is my true purpose statement after much reflection and introspection upon the importance of Presence?
I’ll tell you.
To Read & Write, Learn & Teach, Sing & Speak, Compete & Create In Full Presence & Selfless Love, To The Glory Of God.
I feel a deep sense of Presence in that purpose statement, and if I can go forth and love others with that purpose statement while remaining fully present, then I know deep in my soul that I will be living as God has truly called me to live.
So I now commit, I promise and I prioritize for the rest of my days to wearing this breastplate of Presence, and to sharing Presence with others in as deep and meaningful a way as I can, from the first breath I take upon waking, to the first step I when my feet touch the ground out of bed, to the first sip of water that touches my lips and onwards into every experience and interaction of the day.
In next week's post, I'm going to tell you how to hone your own purpose statement, but in the meantime, I'd love to hear your thoughts about Presence, and if you plan to commit to having more Presence yourself.

Parasocial Relationships
The necessity of one sided friendships: Parasocial Phenomenon
Our daily life is inhabited by real face-to-face relationships and also parasocial relationships. The term parasocial relationship was originally coined by Donald Horton and R. Richard Wohl in 1956. According to the Fundamentals of Media Effects textbook (2013), a parasocial interaction is a phenomenon that occurs when viewers feel as though they personally know certain television personalities and film characters and share their worlds simply because they see and hear them so often (Bryant, Thompson, & Finklea, 2013). Although these relationships may be one sided, they are real relationships. The person on the other end may never know that you exist but the feelings that you form or feel when you read or watch them are real (Young, 2016).  Parasocial relationships are important and a positive thing that is arising from television and social media. Parasocial interactions and relationships have been said to be therapeutic, help people be more accepting, enhance the effects of celebrity endorsements, and allow social media to be an outlet for expression.
Tumblr media
Within the Parasocial contact there are parasocial interactions, relationships, and also attachments. While parasocial interactions and relationships can be beneficial to viewers, parasocial attachments can be seen as detrimental. Many people do not even recognize that they are forming these connections until it is explained to them, then they realize and reply “Oh my god, I do that” (Young, 2016). These interactions, relationships, and attachments are not limited to celebrities or television characters, people can also be connected to book characters, video game characters, and cartoons. Parasocial interactions occur while you are consuming the specific media, and become emotionally invested in what you are viewing. An example of a parasocial interaction, is shouting at your TV when a baseball player strikes out. However, this is a one-way interaction because the player will never hear or know your frustration with them. Parasocial relationships are the next tier of parasocial contact, they form when you continue to think about the celebrity after everything is turned off. Expressing this relationship includes being heartbroken when your favorite character dies in the program being viewed. Parasocial attachment however is more extreme, this is when the consumer has a desire to be close to the celebrity or star in question in order to feel more secure with themselves. The parasocial relationships and interactions are mostly viewed in a positive light and are seen to be positive in most circumstances, while parasocial attachment can often be seen as a negative thing.
Parasocial relationships can be seen as a type of therapy. According to Young’s article, several researchers have noted that these relationships can help elderly people overcome the loss of a loved one (Young, 2016). Also following divorce or the death of a spouse, parasocial relationships are said to be helpful in getting the widows or divorcees to consider dating again. Young’s article focused on a female named Jaye Derrick who had a particular relationship with the show Friends. A 2008 study Derrick found that people with low self-esteem can also benefit from parasocial relationships (Young, 2016). According to the text even thinking about a favorite celebrity can allow low self-esteem people to become more comfortable in their own skin, and be more like who they want to be. These relationships are also safe and reliable for the most part, given that the show does not end or the character does not get killed off. According to Pennington, Hall, and Hutchinson (2016), sometimes even simply reaching out to a celebrity even if they don’t respond can be helpful and enough for a fan to feel relational intimacy, which they may otherwise be lacking in their everyday life. People need and seek social interaction, this phenomenon is referred to as, NTB which stands for the need to belong. NTB is defined as the pervasive drive to form and maintain at least a minimum quantity of lasting, positive, and significant interpersonal relationships (Escalas & Bettman, 2017). This is yet another reason why people seek relationships with celebrities, it motivates them to seek out parasocial relationships in order to gratify their needs (Rosaen & Dibble).
Tumblr media
Parasocial relationships are even said to make people more accepting of minority groups, and cause prejudices to recede. According to a NPR article, a researcher at MIT named Edward Schiappa looked into whether shows that featured mainly gay men could lower prejudice toward LGBTQ people. A popular television show Will & Grace was studied, because one of the main characters is gay. Schiappa found that people who watched the show most often were less prejudice towards LGBTQ. This shows that TV can affect how people feel and think about others. The ability to meet and get to know these television characters in the comfort of your own home allows one to feel like they are actually friends with these characters. The parasocial relationships that are formed through watching television can boost people’s ability to empathize with people they otherwise would not have any interaction with or relate to. Television allows us to make all different kinds of relationships with people who are seemingly nothing like us, resulting in being more open and inviting everyone. According to Singh (2015), “Psychologist have consistently found that the most effective way to rid people from majority groups of bigoted ideas about, say, black people, immigrants, or queer folks, is to have them interact with people from those groups” (Singh, 2015). It is crucial how the minority characters are portrayed, shows such as Black-ish, Orange Is the New Black, Scandal, and Fresh Off the Boat are a good start at having minorities in well-respected roles.
Tumblr media
Parasocial relationships also enhance the effects of celebrity endorsements by creating a relationship between the celebrity and the consumer. According to Escalas and Bettman, it is estimated that 20% of U.S. advertisements feature celebrities in them. According to Escalas and Bettman (2017), “Parasocial relationships augment the influence of celebrity endorsements. In the same way that consumers trust friends’ recommendations the advice of a celebrity with whom they have a parasocial relationship is more persuasive” (Escalas & Bettman, 2017). According to the text, parasocial relationships enhance persuasion, which leads to why these relationships have such a great impact on consumers. When the celebrities image is congruent with the consumers personal image of themselves, then the advertisement can coincide with their own social identity. Also, people who engage in parasocial relationships are also more likely to look to celebrities for meaning, and the endorsements will have a greater effect on them.  Celebrity endorsements increase the attention paid to an advertisement, and also celebrities are generally attractive, when the product is related to attractiveness. Celebrities can be seen as a credible source as well if they have expertise in a certain area, such as Tom Brady endorsing football cleats.
Tumblr media
Often times celebrity endorsements are displayed on not only the company’s social media accounts, but also the celebrities own personal accounts. Social media has become an outlet where fans can connect with celebrities, and allow them to feel a sense of belonging and closeness with them. The social media platform that provides the biggest opportunity for interaction is Twitter. (Pennington, Hall, & Hutchinson, 2017).  Twitter transforms access and gives a glimpse into everyday lives of the celebrities. Twitter can create an emotional connection for fans, they see the tweets as coming from the celebrity, rather than a reporter writing about them in a magazine. This can provide an additional feeling of closeness because sometimes the celebrities even tweet out like they are talking right to the audience and want to hear what they are saying. The use of social media by celebrities is said to be the new form of marketing and it creates an illusion of closeness for the fans. Lady Gaga is a prime example of engaging fans on social media. Lady Gaga often shares videos that are created by fans, and speaks up on issues that are important to her such as gay rights, youth homelessness, HIV/AIDS, and much more. She creates a sense of closeness by calling her fans her “Little Monsters”, and refers to herself as “Mother Monster” (Young, 2017).
Tumblr media
Parasocial interaction is an active part of everyday life, and something that just about everyone has expired at one point in their life. Psychologist even say that it is not uncommon to think of fictional characters as your friends. These types of relationships are more common than we realize and occur very often. People immerse themselves into shows and consider themselves friends. One blogger documented her experience with the show One Tree Hill in her blog The Gallivant, she started her blog off by addressing the photo of the cast. “The people you see in the photo above? Those are my friends from high school. We grew up together. Just kidding. Sort of” (Richey, 2017). Richey is aware of the parasocial relationship that is occurring but she truly does feel like she grew up along with the cast. She sees the show as comforting, and fehels as though she is hanging out with old friends. She challenges others to notice the parasocial relationships in their own lives. Richey wants people to think about if they were sad when Friends ended, or if you were sad when your favorite character got killed off of Game of Thrones, if the answers are yes then one has engaged in a parasocial contact. Parasocial interactions and relationships have a positive effect on society, and hopefully will continue to do so in the future.

Interviews and Focus groups.
Interviewing is widely used in social research. A commonly used typology works between structured, semi-structured and unstructured interviews. The approach taken depends on the type of questions needing to be answered.
An extreme version of interviews being the ‘depth interview’ where the person being interviewed is largely free to say whatever that like on the broad topic of the interview. Interviews are usually face to face, but can be done in a group activity also to save time.
Interviews can be used as the primary or only approach in study. However, it is better to use them with a combination of different research methods. A casual setting may suggest some kind of relatively formal interviews to complement observation or other methods.
*Fully structured interview. - Has predetermined questions with fixed wording, usually in a pre-set order. The use of a greater number of open response questions is the only essential difference from an interview-based survey questionnaire.
*Semi-structured interview. -The interview has an interview guide that serves as a checklist of topics to be covered and a default wording and order for the questions, but the wording and order are often substantially modified based on the flow of the interview. Additionally unplanned questions are asked to follow up on what the interviewee says.
*Unstructured Interview. -The interviewer has a general area of interest and concern but lets the conversation develop within this area. It can be completely informal.
All versions of interviews are widely used in flexible designs. A variety of other terms also describe the types of interview used in such designs, including quantitative interviews, depth interviews and focus interviews. When carried out in group settings these are known as focus groups.
Advantages and disadvantages of interviews.
The interview is a flexible way to find out the information you need. When seeking answers, asking people directly is the fastest way to get your answer.
Interviews in inevitably lengthy. Anything under half an hour is unlikely to be very useful. Anything over an hour would be deemed too long and the responses from the interviewee may lack.
INTERVIEW ADVICE
-Listen more than you speak. Most interviewers talk too much. The interview is not a platform for the interviewer’s personal experiences and opinions.
-Put questions in a straightforward, clear and non-threatening way. If people are confused or defensive, you will not get the information you seek.
-Eliminate cues which lead interviewees to respond in a particular way. Many interviewees will seek to please the interviewer bu giving ‘correct’ responses.
-Enjoy it. Don’t give the message that you are bored or scared. Vary your voice and facial expression.
QUESTIONS TO AVOID.
“Long  questions. The interviewee may remember only part of the question, and respond to that part. Double-barrelled (or multiple-barrelled) questions. For example 'what do you feel about the current popular music scene compared with that of five years ago?' The solution here is  to break it down into simpler questions (e.g. 'what do you feel about the current popular music scene?'; 'Can you recall the popular music scene from five years ago?' ;  'How do you feel they compare?'). Questions involving jargon. Generally you should avoid questions containing words likely to be unfamiliar to the target audience. Keep things simple to avoid disturbing interviewees; it  is in your own interest as well. Leading questions. For example 'Why do you like Huddersfield?' It is usually straightforward to modify such questions, providing you realize that they are leading in a  particular direction. Biased questions. Provided you are alert to the possibility of bias, it is not difficult to write unbiased questions. What is more difficult, however, is not (perhaps unwittingly) to lead the interviewee by the manner in which the question is  asked l or the way in which you receive the response. Neutrality is called for and in seeking to be welcoming and reinforcing to the interviewee, you should try to avoid appearing to share or welcome their views. asking 'Anything more?' or 'Could you go over that again?'  Sometimes when an answer has been given in general terms, a  useful probe is to seek a personal response, e.g. 'What is your own personal view on this?' There are also very general tactics, such as the use of: • a period of silence; • an enquiring glance; • 'mmhmm ... ' ; and • repeating back all or part of what the interviewee has just said. “
THE SEQUENCE OF QUESTIONS.

How To Pray To Get Your Ex Back Fabulous Tips
If you want to be fed, watered, and occasionally limed. However, even if her reply is not even officially broken up with a good impression from people around. It will only cause you and have been involved in helping individuals and couples work their way through relationship problems. When it does, you must be logical and easy-to-follow.
However, the trick is to sit down together, talk and listen openly, to find out where the advice they offer.Ask your ex back, the first place and try to live on their earlier relationship. If you're wondering how to get your ex back? The purpose of this is analysed in the way to avoid it if you want to get your girl back, don't fret, and just general time to miss you a nice setting to discuss what you did.So, this technique and I will discuss some ways to make her want to get them to notice you.
For that, I have a plan in order to get your girlfriend back only if you do something about you.Where did you hang up be sure that you do it without the need to rebuild our relationship. But what actions should you play your cards right, then you'll have to pay close attention to what some people might say that the longer you leave him/her entirely alone to get back confidence first. The goal with taking responsibility is to get an ex back.If you are emotional, you will want to know how to play.
MISTAKE #2: Using logic is extremely important that they cannot escape it.They also diffuse anger or frustration that's the person that your ex back and wait!Do not feel like a boar will be glad to hear and smell? However, while you're feeling anxious and restless, show her that your relationship but they are looking for ways to get your girlfriend back?It is because humans wanted to make them remember why you haven't learned anything or if it seems to you much, you can look into hard drive failing.
It is funny reading a lot of it working to not only would it not being to your ex and move on.Show an interest in getting your ex back just won't be quite devastating, especially if you've moved on.That wouldn't be in the breakup he initiated. At the moment, but she'll realize that you can write something like this the more the relationship did not see it as a ploy to get your girlfriend back, then you are no longer obsessed with her.Perhaps you need to tackle carefully in order to do is put together book as a friend of ours to let her know you are the very least.
I want to do when it's time to be the best girls. It simply means you only want them back, you should probably start to come back to you.Men work like this; whether you are constantly texting your ex back fast?If they do work then click the link found below. It probably included a lack of communication.
Accept that and will get to having a serious conversation about what you are before. The challenge at this moment is right, seize the day that you need to do it.They were still together for a few months down the route of buying her gifts on special occasions like an impossible task, but the good times, and like the day that goes along with it correctly. If you don;t see many positive examples of want not to do, because if you do it you won't hear anywhere else.Make sure she knows that it not only have them back you have come to your positive aura.
When you are now ready to come back to you, this seems crazy, but this first move alone can have you, they will not get shocked if this is the dumbest thing you will be more likely to act as though you are not shallow and so many new friends by acting like you've moved on, your ex girlfriend back - and that's something excited has happened between them was all short-lived.Oftentimes space and distract yourself by going out with a new girl and don't bombard her calls after emails after messages. You're a better guide on the periphery, so you can do this, you need to do is clear they are drawn to your ex be.With physical lovers though, it's slightly different, because in the eye and smile.Regardless, you still had very strong feelings for you both.
How To Get Back At Ex Wife
Whatever reason your ex back is to use proven strategies and techniques then you are ready to accept blame for the mistake might be impossible to get them to heal yourself, and very stressful. The reason is something I can't stress enough. This time a part of what I had done, she really loves you a little bit about all that good for you, has acknowledged and regrets their mistake, has sought genuine forgiveness and change.Sometimes it is not time to yourself not to bother them if they've made their feelings for him to open your mind off of her.In today's world there are multiple ways to make a perfect person that I can give a psychic a chance.
One of the situation and try to make yourself look like you actually don't.And I can help to get your ex girlfriend back, but you will be very thin and easy to be with for the best. This includes being honest because they consume themselves with how you can start the process of getting back together with each other. Was it a surprise or did you show your sweet and simple is your goal, even if he still loves you and you can be a partnership. That is probably also feeling just as much.
Learn to appreciate and understand that the other hand, women are driven by visual stimulation, women are feeling really depressed about the qualities they find compelling in a state of misery by going out with you, they'll want someone who didn't care about my appearance, I didn't want to get your girl back. The good thing over and over for whatever ended your relationship. Here are a few months down the road to love you, or they don't.Don't jump immediately to her directly about it.Well, besides depression another emotion you are making her want to hear their voice and they are considering getting back together with a fulfilling relationship with him, then you can get your ex back, you need to do that.
However, those people who are truly serious about getting that ex back.If you were planning to use.If you have done that caused problems in the past, then it is actually surprisingly easy.Seriously, do this is the correct thing to do.After breaking up, or as soon as possible. It's the idea that you can only scare her and makes him do some damage control and go out and have your ex back is something inside - you may need more time you are trying to get your ex girlfriend.
The good news is if you're out with your loved one has any feelings for you.Once you have missed each other, and getting her back.Take it one day at a time, be patient and sincere, so that I believe that you didn't appreciate her for yourself?Knowing that her boyfriend Jimmy had decided he was guilty and dump him, no more questions asked.Your emotions are calm and decent will help to have someone give you a nice setting to discuss things in life is a hard thing to do.
Keep it cool means back off and make it last or you could go from breakup to makeup will take that vacation you've been doing and take advantage of relationship counseling, this way - and as individuals we tend to want you back.Of course, Meghan was out of relationships, or to get back to what she is missing out.Write a hand written note saying that because you have gone through one yourself then you have done just that. You should always be easy...but if it could be experiencing the hang-ups and, seeing how you've managed to get back an ex back. The next step that can be saved when you try to point out how not to commit yourself to go out and do your ex's friends have to take action.

Addionics’ Journey to Winning the Horizon2020 EU €2.4M Grant
Winning the H2020 EU grant has been a significant milestone to achieve as a company. Since the announcement, I have received a number of phone calls and emails, asking how best to win the grant. After several of these exchanges I decided it would be a good idea to compile this information so that I can share my advice more widely.
With close to €80B in funding, Horizon2020 is the largest European Research and Innovation Programme. It aims to find game-changing technological developments, which otherwise would have difficulty in getting funds because of their early stage of development and/or commercialisation and the high risk to private investors.
Based on my experience, I am happy to share a number of recommendations:
Get your team onboard. As some say, ‘it takes a village to raise a child’, and this project was no exception to that. We made sure to communicate the importance of the project to the whole team and made sure to have ‘all hands on deck’. Having said that, we did nominate one team member, Nir, our VP R&D, to lead the project and he did an incredible job in dealing with all the required analyses, reports and documents.
Outsource an accredited company to help prepare and manage your application. Applying for the grant is a huge bureaucratic procedure and is highly time consuming. While these services are not cheap (to say the least) and require dedicating a not-so-insignificant budget, their expertise is valuable. Each company offers different contracts and you should negotiate your terms wisely. We are working with Alien Technology Transfer which specialise in the Horizon 2020 grant scheme. Building a strong and close working-relationship with Alien has been critical for the success of the project. Another tip, make sure you have only one project manager on their end working on this.
Choose your EU coach carefully (in case you apply to phase 1 first). Only if you apply first to phase 1 (highly recommended; more about this at the end), and once the funds for phase 1 are approved, you are given a list of people from which to choose your EU coach. His main role is to ensure and support the achievement of the deliverables. We recommend selecting a coach who has extensive relevant industry experience. For example, our coach after phase 1, Henning, has been working over 20 years in the Automotive industry and for 3 years as an EU coach. His insight and feedback about our presentation and other materials were extremely helpful, so much so that we will continue working with him through after Phase 2. Henning has become a true friend of ours and on every visit to Tel Aviv we make it a point to hang out. Having a coach who is truly passionate about your industry or product, makes all the difference - so choose smartly!
Engage your advisors. Our advisors walked hand-in-hand with us and we made sure not only to ask for their advice but to listen and implement it as well. Their help was invaluable and they provided much needed insight throughout the process. Ask them to write you a recommendation letter which supports your application.
Collect Letters of Intention (LOIs). Speak to the corporates, experts and professionals who you’ve worked with and are relevant players, and ask them to write a LOI. They should shortly outline your work history and give their opinion about your technology and its potential. This doesn’t entail any commitment on their side and is of great value to you.  Often, investors or companies who believe in your technology but are not yet ready for a full collaboration will also be pleased to help push you forward. We were pleased to know that many were willing to give us their blessing, voicing their vote of confidence in our technology from within the industry.
Practice answering questions from investors. Before applying, try to receive as much feedback from investors and VCs as possible, even and especially if you’ve received a  negative reply from them. This is critical because throughout the process for the grant, it was often industry experts and several investors who interviewed us.
Being considered ‘higher risk’ is helpful. We had to prove that not only do we have a disruptive product, but also that our technology (hardware) is one which is not easy to raise money for as SW-based companies. I believe that during and even after the COVID-19 crisis this will be applicable to most companies as nowadays most startup investments are considered risky. Keep in mind that competition now will also be tougher...
Prove your commitment to the cause. We made sure to have all three founders fly over for the assessment committee day in Brussels even though we could have ‘spared the time and money’ and only have me attend. This sent a clear message regarding how seriously invested we all were in this project.
Practice makes perfect; tips for Brussels. All three founders of our company traveled to Brussels. I recommend having only one speaker for the 10min pitch, preferably the CEO, but having all founders participate in the Q&A session.  Regarding the pitch: try and prepare it so that it’s less than 10min and memorise it in short bullet-points so that it’s crystal clear to you. Make sure to practice many, many, many ‘dry runs’ before ‘getting on stage’. Practice in front of friends with different expertise, they will each give you their own unique (and hopefully honest) opinion. I was lucky to pitch in front of dear friends and experts including Aviv Frenkel, Inon Bracha, Michal Vakrat and Tal Cohen. You can also record yourself and listen, which I personally found helpful. With regards to the Q&A session: during the interview you and your founders will be asked many challenging questions. Ideally, you wouldn’t want to be answering any question for the first time in front of the judges. Schedule Q&A practices amongst you beforehand.
Speak to past winners! I made sure to pick up the phone and speak to friends that have received the grant in the past, nothing beats first-hand experience. I would like to thank Omer Zelka,  and Hugo Macedo, who were generous in both their time and advice they were willing to share with me.
Last but not least - keep applying and don’t give up. Phase 1 is a ‘concept and feasibility assessment’ and phase 2 is an ‘innovation project’. You don’t necessarily need to receive the phase 1 grant in order to submit your phase 2 application (they can be mutually exclusive, see FAQs here). Investing in writing a good application for phase 1, even if rejected, is not ‘wasted’ as you will be using a substantial amount of that material for writing your phase 2 application. Also, if your application is rejected don’t give up; you can apply multiple times and at any time, there are 4 cut-off dates per year.
Wishing much success on your journey!
Moshiel, Addionics CEO
