He nodded as they walked back in the locker room and mentally replayed their words in his head. Just a regular game, regular roadie, with a bit of extra company.

The familiar cheer of the crowd was able to calm down Andrei during his warm up routine. He felt really fortunate to be playing this game, and had to pinch himself everytime he saw kids wearing his jersey and asking for a puck. 

He was loose, happy to be warming up and messing around with his teammates, until he looked up, scanning the crowd once again, and saw you. Sitting on the bench, talking with Neci’s sister to the kids, who were waiting to meet the players. 

Be cool, be cool, be cool. 

He knew he couldn’t avoid this any longer. He reminded himself to act casual, as he always did around you. Nothing had really changed, not in your eyes at least.  As he skated towards you, he couldn’t help but stare at the way you so intently listened to the kids, who were basically bouncing off their seats. 

He came up and messed up your hair with his glove while greeting the little ones, which caused the usual smiley eye roll from you. 

“Hi dingus.”

“You’re here early.” Andrei answered, with a smile.

“Yeah, since we leave for the trip tomorrow I asked for today off. I came early to avoid the traffic and such. I met your coach by the way - Rod? He’s the one that got me down here by the bench in the first place.”

Of course he did, Andrei thought. He did his best not to scoff at Rod too hard in front of you.

“You are ready for the trip? It’s going to be a lot of traveling, you know.”

“Oh I’m sure I’ll be okay flying on your team’s private plane for a week. Am I going to have to play hockey or something? You know I suck at skating.”

“Oh trust me, I remember.” Andrei laughed at the reminiscence - you guys had gone to an ice skating rink a long time ago, and he remembers being doubled over in laughter at how clumsy you were. Another memory quickly took the player by surprise: the feeling of your small hands in his when he tried to guide you, and the way your eyes reflected the lights, or the snow caught in your hair-

No, no, no, Not right now, Andrei. He took a deep breath. 

“I, uh. We will know the schedule and all tomorrow.”

“Cool.” you replied, looking at him, hands in your back pockets. “You nervous?”

Andrei’s heart (and face, inevitably) dropped. 

“Nervous?” he said, perhaps too frantically.

“For tonight? The game you’re about to play? It seems like a big one.” you answered, looking around at the seats quickly filling up. 

Oh. That’s what you meant.

“C’mon now. You know I don’t get nervous.” he snapped back with a cocky grin. 

“Oh yeah, big man Svechnikov is never nervous because he’s sooo good.” Andrei laughed, but before he could say anything, he noticed your gaze change, staring now deeper into his eyes, and moving your body closer to his. 

“I know you’re lying, Drei. I can see right through you.” you teased.

Andrei took a sharp inhale, and felt completely paralyzed. He wanted so badly to grab your chin and push his lips against yours. So badly.

“Geez, Andrei, chill. Everyone gets nervous right?”. Seeing as she was only joking, Andrei upped the ante. 

“You know me - I’m just too good.” he replied, teasingly, as he grabbed his water and squirted some of it in his mouth, not breaking eye contact. 

“You’re so full of shit, Svechnikov.” 

This caused Andrei to roll his eyes, turn the bottle around and playfully squirt some water at you. However, instead of it falling on your head, where he was initially aiming for, the long stream of water covered your chest. 

Oh shit.

Your mouth fell open as you shoved him backwards. “Andrei!”

Your white bodysuit, with a cut that was already low enough, was splattered all over with water, revealing your bra. 

“Um…” Andrei knew he was staring, but he couldn’t help it. He tried to open his mouth but he genuinely couldn’t get any words out. He had sneaked a peak at your chest often enough, but this was wholly different. 

“I didn’t even bring a jacket and it’s freezing in here; this will never dry.” Andrei looked at the clock above. 

“Here, come.” He mustered up the courage to grab your arm and lead you to the locker room. 

“Can I even be in here?’ you looked around, concerned. 

“It’s okay. You can have one of my jerseys.” 

Your chest perked up: “Is this your locker?” you asked, head tilted. 

Even with your chest soaking and basically completely showing through, Andrei thought you looked the most beautiful when you gave him that look. Big eyes, looking up at him, waiting for his answer. God, he really needed to get it together.

Chuckling, he answered: “Yes, this is my spot. Now put this on before you get sick.”

He saw you grab the jersey and study how big it was; as you started to get the sleeves on, he realized: here comes the word vomit again. He didn’t even think about saying it, it sorta just came out. 

“You need to take your shirt off, silly. Because you will freeze - it will not dry in the arena. It’s too cold.” He hoped the redness in his face didn’t show as he said that. He couldn’t take back what he said now.

“Well duh, but how am I going to change here? What if someone walks in?” you looked around as you said. His eyes narrowed when he noticed you were blushing too.

“I turn around and cover you. We’re in a corner, no one will see. How long could you possibly take?” he said, with a grin on his face. 

“Fine - but don’t look, okay?”

“No promises.” Andrei whispered as he turned around. 

“Hmm?”

“Nothing, nothing.” he quietly laughed. 

His body was big enough that you noticed he actually did cover you as you changed.

“Um, I’m sorry Drei, my skin is really wet. Do you have anything I can use to dry myself off?” He could sense the trembling in your voice, and he started moving frantically to find a washcloth to give you that hopefully wasn't soaked in sweat.

When he turned around to hand you the towel, he made sure to look down - he liked you, but he didn’t want to be creepy. As they say though, old habits die hard. As soon as you proceeded to wipe the damp patch of skin, he couldn’t resist but peer his eyes over. Oh. He had never seen your breasts like…this. Obviously. Even though it was just a peek, Andrei noticed the goosebumps on your skin, how soft you looked, and the lace on your white bra drove him absolutely mad. He swiftly turned around again, feeling pretty lucky that his hockey gear covered most of what was going on in his pants, and the fact that you couldn’t see the huge smile on his face. Maybe she really couldn’t tell how flustered he was. 

A little laugh made his eyebrows shoot up. 

“Drei, you’re so big.”

If he thought his heart couldn’t beat any faster, and his pants couldn’t get tighter, he was wrong. What did she just say?

She appeared in front of him - his jersey looked gigantic on her. Her stature and the fact that she was wearing his number made him want to grab her right then and there and spin her around, just to hear that giggle again. He couldn’t even see her hands because the sleeves were too long.

“See? It’s so big on me!” she said. And there it was. That look again - the smile, the eyes and the head tilt. It took all of his strength not to grab both of her cheeks and kiss her right then and there. 

“Yeah, you’re so small.” Andrei internally facepalmed. He sounded like such an idiot.

“No - you’re the huge one, Mr. Hockey player.”. 

“He sure is, aren’t you, Svechy?” 

Andrei looked up, horrified. Jarvy had walked in, right on time for that joke. Your head whipped around, your long hair wafting perfume towards Andrei. 

“Hmm?” you said. A wave of relief washed over Andrei. She hadn’t heard. But your perfume, your voice, god, you were so sweet. 

“You working the merch stand, Svech? You better make her pay for that. It's exclusive.” Seth joked around. Andrei desperately started shaking his head at him. “Stop!” he mouthed to his friend, who just got closer to you. 

“I’m Seth. You must be Y/N.” 

“How’d you know?”

“Oh, you’re Andrei’s secret friend, we all know. The whole team is excited to finally meet you, and find out why he’s kept you so hidden for so long.” 

Andrei’s gestures to make Seth stop got more and more ridiculous - he wanted to tackle his friend to the ground, he was so embarrassed. Thankfully, you couldn’t see how much he was silently freaking out behind you. 

“Oh, I’m a wanted criminal - that must be why.” Your joke made Jarvis’ head throw back with laughter. 

“She’s funny, Andrei, I like it.”

You turned around to look at him, with a slight blush and shake of your head. 

“Don’t listen to Jarvy, Y/N, he’s not all there.” And you laughed again. He was head over heels for you. Big trouble. 

“You’re one to talk. We’re starting soon, little criminal, you’re going to have to get out of here. Don’t worry Drei, you’ll see her again right after.” Seth winked.

Andrei’s face had been completely flushed for the whole day now, but this one caused a whole different shade of red. 

“Ha ha, very funny.”

“I was just leaving anyway, guys. Have a great game Andrei, and thank you for the jersey.” you said, and squeezed his arm, walking away. “Nice to meet you, Seth.”

Jarvy waved at you as you made it out of the locker room; he was staring at Andrei, who was completely still, unblinking, watching you strut away. 

“Man, you’ve got it bad.” Jarvy snarked, which made Andrei completely snap out of it, and immediately pounce on his friend. 

“You are such a dumbass, Seth!” the 6’3” player quickly trapped his teammate in a chokehold. Nevertheless, Jarvs couldn’t stop laughing. 

“Don’t ever do that again! I swear, Jarvy, you are-”

“Hey!”

Staal’s deep voice stopped the young players. 

“Let’s go boys! Save the hype for the tunnel.”

The guys quickly composed themselves and walked towards the rest of their team, only after Andrei gave his friend one last push.

The game went a lot better than he expected - he was able to think clearly and really zone in. He did see you in the seats though, right when he was getting off a shift. Why weren’t you in the boxes with the other families? All of the girls he had brought to games before had always taken the most expensive seats. And he swore he saw you with the biggest smile on your face, and were you... biting your lip? Favorably, you were sitting way behind their bench, so when Drei caved in and tried to look behind him, he was met with his coach’s face, who slowly shook his head and handed him some smelling salts. Right, right.

The team celebrated their win, their stars and their fans. Andrei was feeling really good about this one. He could, after all, play with you so close to him, and still come through for his team. All the cockiness was woefully wiped away quickly once he saw you standing outside of the locker room, against the wall, waiting for him.

I need some advice. My husband is abusive in all ways u can think. He does practice and pray and is knowledgable and passionate about Islam. He is known influential muslim figure on social media and in real life so no one is really going to say much. He has a very strong smoking addiction which is pretty much what he puts importance to when he is with me/behind the scenes. When I was ill, he still prioritized getting his smoking in, i know addiction is like that and can change the way u think and behave and that was whats on his mind. He would leave me alone to smoke or smoke wherever we go. His family is not aware of his addiction or the things he has done to me. He is also engaging with non-mahrams online and now I fear there may be something going on. He has lied to me and did not provide me much details so I could not resolve it with him. When I asked the sister herself about it she tried to shut me out and wouldnt stop contacting him after I kindly explained how uncomfortable I felt, it was very disrespectful. I tried to speak to his family about his behaviors towards me and they have been dismissive. He has been threatening me to keep me quiet so his family doesnt find out about anything. It's been very tough. Im also a revert. He knows I am not as strong with my practicing and I am here trying my best. I havent had a good environmemt for so long and even now its bad because he expect me to do everything properly while he messes around. He hasnt helped me with much and does not spend on me or take care of me properly. His family turned against me thinking i am just trying to cause problems when I have been trying to speak up about his abuse. His family also expects my practicing to be on point and blamed me for it not being proper. I dont know what to do and I am alone.

As long as his family does not try to fix the matter, you must go to your family and ask him to change himself, and try to deal with you in a correct way. Your family must intervene in this matter, and give him a specific deadline to change his character, or if necessary, divorce as the last solution.

Okay so like we already know that shadow rider exists so i dont rlly need to explain that ,, so heres shadow stealth blazer and bamboo

stealth goggles seems to be pretty anxious thru the manga (it got better for him in vol 16 btw!), but he is still a kind guy and he tries his best to help his team (and his teammates) by how much he can! he is also a kind of an airhead lol, rider mentioned how he basically never uses his toxic mist in the last page of the team monarch vs yg team chapter(s)

there are more examples but i’ll not get into that

so i like to picture shadow stealth goggles having a cocky personality, he is also very competitive and NEVER forgets to use his toxic mist!!!!!!!!! 🙄 he is also very mean towards shadow rider LMAO (shadow stealth goggles still likes airsoft btw like how shadow rider is still obsessed with his gold dynamo HELP)

okayy blazer now! honestly blazer is kinda hard to characterize since she has the most least appearances from yellow green team ☹️

blazer is known to be very optimistic and supportive, shes like the most happiest character from yg team HELP😭 this is (kind of?) a headcanon i have for blazer’s personality but i like to picture her as also a kind of an airhead who doesnt understand sarcasm most of the time like shes DEADASS saying this with a straight face😭😭😭💀💀💀💀💀 (context in that panel goggles pointed out that rider’s pants are sagging)

for shadow blazer, i like to imagine her as being very serious and selfish, she dislikes her teammates a lot ESPECIALLY bamboo hat #doomedyuri she is also very sarcastic

since yellow green team get along very well while all of them being very different and unique from each other, shadow yellow green team are different here. bc of how different they are from each other they just DONT get along and NEVER get along which costs to a lottt of fights ☹️

i woke up horribly sick yesterday and i did not even know abt the video until halfway thru this LMAO also this is like pretty far into their relationship, hence davey not being a jerk

warnings: sickness, fluff, like one innuendo cus its angel guys, also angel likes chai because i dont believe theres anyone who doesnt like chai so im sorry if u dont like chai and cant relate hjbasvgbx

Angel was awoken by their own pounding headache, keeping their eyes closed as they blindly reached out for the duvet to pull it over their head with a groan. They so badly wanted to get up and pull the curtains closed, rather than rely on the blanket to shut out the light that was only worsening their quickly growing headache, but alas, their sore muscles screamed in protest when they tried to sit up, ultimately failing and falling back onto the excessive amount of pillows with a soft thump.

They reached for David but he was too far on the other side of the bed, as they usually ended up after a night of cuddling, when the warmth became uncomfortable. Now all they really needed was warmth, sudden chills breaking out across their body.

"Davey.." They called out, the hoarseness of their own voice startling them.

He wasn't exactly a heavy sleeper, grumbling in response.

"Can you please close the curtains?" They groaned, shifting closer to him.

He hummed, taking a second or two before finally climbing out of bed and strolling to the window, pulling the curtains closed the rest of the way.

"Migraine?" He questioned softly, not bothering to pull the blanket from over their head as he sat back down, knowing the general drill for this sort of thing.

"So much worse." Angel rasped a bit dramatically, following it up with a drawn out whimper. David sighed, bringing a hand to rest on what he assumed was their head hidden under the duvet, "Isn't the flu going around your office right now? I told you to be careful."

Angel gasped, slowly pulling the blanket down. "How dare you chastise me when I'm so vulnerable." They accused, the creases between their brows deepening.

David chuckled, "I'm just saying, I warned you. Every time you get sick, it hits you like a train." He teased, moving his hand to their a face, his thumb pressing gently against the space between their brow.

"Thank god it's the weekend." They whispered, closing their sore eyes, David humming in reply.

"And if it wasn't, I wouldn't let you go to work like this, even if it meant chaining you to this bed."

"You know, I'd probably be-"

"-into that, yeah I know you would, you perv." He laughed, pulling the blanket back up over their head before standing from the bed with a yawn. "I'll get you some tea."

"Chai, please." They requested almost inaudibly but David didn't need to hear them to know exactly what they wanted, headed to the kitchen to put the kettle on.

Angel rolled over, bringing their hands up to cover their eyes as if they weren't already under a blanket. They'd curl into a ball if their back wasn't too sore to do so, every little movement triggering a flare of pain up and down their back. Since when did the flu become so brutal?

"David! Please bring tylenol too!" Angel shouted, momentarily peeking out from under the blanket and immediately regretting the volume they used as it made them painfully aware of how sore their throat really was. They groaned for the umpteenth time that morning, opting for pulling a pillow over their head instead of a blanket.

David came back a few minutes later, a steaming mug of tea in one hand and two pills in the other. "We're out of tylenol but I brought ibuprofen." He explained quietly, setting the cup and meds on the table. All he got in return were soft snores, a small smile breaking across his face as he lifted the pillow.

"Angel," He whispered, "C'mon, you gotta drink something."

They awoke with yet another groan, slowly sitting up. They winced as they leaned against the headboard, holding out both hands. "Feels like someone took to my back with a hammer."

"Well leaning over a laptop all night isn't gonna help with the muscle aches." David lightly scolded, handing them the mug and the two pills.

After downing the ibuprofen and some gulps of what they thought was the best cup of tea they ever had, they moved to lay back down.

David sighed, placing the tea onto the nightstand before sitting on the edge of the bed, bringing a hand to Angel's arm. "I could draw you a bath," He suggested, "Would really help with the aches."

Angel huffed, "Only if it feels like I'm bathing in lava."

He let out a genuine laugh, standing to make his way to the master bathroom.

"And if you carry me!"

"You are so dramatic."

Signed, someone that only knows of her as the self insert protag and wasn t aware she s somehow very important (i dont go here but i like hearin u talk about it)

Yes! Anzu is a character in her own right with a full backstory that expands beyond enstars actually, in ensemble girls, to the point where it makes me wonder at what point they decided to make enstars to show what she's been up to after leaving kimisaki (the school in engirls. There she is called angie, both angie and anzu are references to the pronounciation of the game titles themselves). She's also the older sister of the protagonist of engirls, a male transfer student from yumenosaki into kimisaki (the plot of engirls takes place in enstars 2 era, so her brother is actually still at yumenosaki during the first year of enstars, he's in the general course though, not the idol one).

The reason Anzu transfered is after a failed revolution she was part of in kimisaki. In that game she is a sort of ghost haunting the narrative, where a lot of characters still mention her (and compare iirc?) to her younger brother. I cant speak much of how this impacts him, ive only read a limited number of engirls stories, mostly ones from before he transferred. Heard the game ends with a timeloop he has to break, so im very curious to one day find a translation for That. So while that's happening over at kimisaki, but let's get back to enstars, where anzu gets another chance at a successful revolution and falls in love with idols in the process. Her presence and trickstars revolution solidifies that things are changing from the war into a hopeful future, the student council arent undefeatable, and there are still new characters that can appear and impact the flow of the story.

When trickstar were broken up by fine she stays and helps in the DDD in a way where, without her, trickstars revolution wouldnt have succeeded. She puts on a mask and joins on stage when the only other member left in the unit was subaru, and the minimum number of people to be qualified to perform is 2. She calls people from her old school in the crowd, amd her brother calls general course students, whose support for her trickstar lead to winning the first live against knights and make way for them to progress to the finals. In the end during the DDD finale it's her vote that makes the difference, going into overtime and making trickstar win. She's a regular person, not a genius, not even an idol, who had impacted the course of events time and time again until the end. She supported Trickstar's revolution, joined them on stage as support, i'd say she is the glue of the unit that helped keep it floating, made it a place to return to. On a grander scale, Anzu is a character who gets a second chance at a successful revolution that ends in happiness, something she had failed at kimisaki. Trickstar are the miracle that changes yumenosaki, but that wouldnt have been possible without anzu's support. Their 5th member.

A critique i see sometimes is that everyone ends up liking her for no reason but...thats not true? Many characters welcome her as a breath of fresh air and a needed new perspective, but others are aprehensive and untrusting in the beginning, it's not like her presence alone magically fixes everything as a deus ex machina or anything, she's actively working hard, to the point where she jeopardizes her own health in the process. And it's also not like she acts the same with all idols either, or doesnt have her own personality and input, she directly impacts their character arcs through her treatment, like in kaoru's case comes to mind first.

This is for ! era at least. I feel more confident talking about that one than !!, where she is part of the P association and experiences hardships and is undermined there, but i am not the person to talk about that as i dont feel like my knowledge of her role there is nearly good enough.

For me, I think the reason I first got into it was because I liked the name. Ship it like fedex is just absolutely iconic. And also I project onto Dex. A lot. I used to have an obsession with finding 7-up trucks when I was younger so I think it was meant to be but that's up for debate.

Canonically, we see Dex and Fitz going from--I don't like to call them enemies because it was certainly one-sided on Dex's side. He was sooo mad. For reasons. Probably gay ones but he isn't aware of that. but sort of enemies--to friends. These scenes are just about the only things in the books I remember some days and we don't even get to see the one in neverseen where they agree to be friends. Nevertheless, a "enemies" to friends to lovers arc definitely is something that Is fun to play with in fics. Also this might be the aromanticism talking, but that kind of arc does require a certain amount of slowburn and I need that to believe anything.

Dex and Fitz are also foils of each other, especially in the first few books. While Fitz is perfect, Dex is the imperfect son of a bad match, and that contrast is just so, so fun.

But it's not just a case of opposites attract. Just like how kam works, they've got a whole bunch in common. We know that Fitz is the top of his class, so he is more than likely a giant nerd. We also know that Dex is a technopath (and I project onto him) so he's also more than likely a giant nerd. While they have different skill sets--I assign Dex all the stem stuff and Fitz the history and english stuff--they're absolutely going to be listening to each other infodumping about the new thing they learned this week and the listening one doesn't understand any of it. Adore that for them.

They're also angry little assholes in canon despite what fanon wants to do to Dex. Anger (especially at society) is a trait that I enjoy in my blorbos.

It's also very easy to write them to be extraordinarily oblivious to everything. And that's always fun. Fitz is going to be oblivious (even to his own feelings) as a requirement to participate in society and Dex isn't going to believe that Fitzroy Vacker knows that he exists.

And then as the brant guy I'm sure you understand how society making a relationship difficult is a fun concept and Fedex has that too. Them dating would be an automatic bad match and the fact that Fitz has to carry around his family's legacy is something I think about. A lot. Probably too much.

Thank you so much for remembering my words and sticking around my blog so long. 🥺💕 Anyway yeah, that unfortunately happens sometimes, and by sometimes, I mean a lot, ‘cause a) there are people out there who unironically think it’s okay to take creative liberties in translating because it’s their right as someone taking the time to do it (can’t be assed rn but if you search around this site enough, you’ll find an entire thread of translators talking about this), b), there are people who write for a lot of series they’re not into and therefore aren’t aware of all the context of previous novels, c) there are people who just slip up and make mistakes! Happens all the time unfortunately and most people don’t understand that if you misunderstand or change one thing it can change everything, and d) people who are tasked with translating 99% of the time never even talk to the people team of people who actually published the original, much less are in contact with the author themself! Mistranslations and drastic creative liberties happen a lot for example in the fandom I came from (The Legend of Zelda), which you can see a bit here! And if you still don’t believe me, you can go ask Dear old Author Neil Gaiman, who has even had some of the characters in his books turned from lovers to sisters and everything, a lot of the time completely without his knowledge until fans point it out to him! If you scroll his blog, I’m sure you’ll find those posts for yourself, assuming he doesn’t see an ask from you on if it happens. ‘Tis a sad thing, but Asagiri-sensei likely doesn’t even know when a mistranslation happens, much less do these people sit down and ask him things directly before doing their thing. He certainly doesn’t have involvement overseeing the process; that’s an unreasonable thing to ask of someone when it involves other languages they may or may not even be fluent in. And all the proof we need that it’s wrong is that the JP novel and the Stage Play (both things that Asagiri was directly, heavily involved in and/or directly penned the words of/material of the script for himself) both contradict it. If you’d like to take on that claim, since you’re implying I’m wrong, have at it! The burden of proof is on you, so, I look forward to seeing you send me the individual JP source lines of the Eng translations you want to take a crack at defending and a long wall of educational text explaining why each part of the English translation got it 1,000% right, directly in my in-box. 3. weapon of choice? any particular reason they chose their weapon?

(this is a perfect question as ive been playing more splatoon 3 recently so i actually have a feel for the weapons i want my characters to use hihi + ill just list all of the ones i currently have chosen weapons for!)

turns out, this post grew way longer than i thought it would so uh woe read more be upon you

Arsenic:

Definitely Splatana Wiper as main and (Luna) Blaster as secondary, he has a quick and agressive playstyle so these are the weapons he usually goes for (also his aim is absolute dog with chargers and splatlings are a little bulky and slow for him, he can use shooters when needed but he doesnt find them interesting to play)

Link:

Probably sticks with a vanilla Splat Charger, likes to play support/backline but still pressures the opposite team quite a bit whilst staying out of fire himself. Other than his proficiency with his main weapon he probably has some practice in with other weapon classes as well. (This is because he works for Ammo Knights hihi)

I'd imagine him being kind of well known for his absolutely bonkers k/d ratio because of his high awareness playstyle but he would definitely have the dumbest deaths in practice :')

Zel:

Zel is a HUGE fan of heavy weaponry like this woman is absolutely insane about them and practices every single one she can get her hands on but her main weapon of choice in battle would probably be a Dynamo Roller or a Nautilus when she's feeling extra silly... as for why its mainly because it helps her stay physically strong and uhhh lifting super heavy weapon in practice means she doesnt have to go to the gym often

A4:

Definitely shooter class weapons, probably sticks to something like an N-Zap, Splash-o-Matic, Splattershot and Splattershot Pro but is quite handy with a Squiffer when needed. I imagine at some point A4 and Link would switch roles just before a match to confuse the opponent (very silly behaviour)

Ise was originally the character that was Link's like future partner??? their story was really nice but he got replaced by Arsenic after i abandoned the two for a few months and decided to revive Link again (you will see Ise more btw i fucking love his design and cuntyness) FOR THE WEAPON! Probably an Inkbrush honestly this guy loves to be annoying and sneak up on backliners when they least expect it, plays very aggressively as well... also his name has a really funny origin and if youre able to guess it ill uhh idk good job

But besides that, to summarize - Ghost is a band with an accompanying fictional storyline. In real life, the band is comprised entirely of one whole person, Tobias Forge, supported by his touring band. In real life, the band's American manager was not accepting of the fact that Tobias's intention were just to be an "anonymous" band, masked and costumed. The manager decided they needed a story, so Tobias was like, "Fuck it, we ball," and gave us a story.

Within the fictional world of Ghost, the band is the Satanic Church's musical side project - kind of like the worship band at an over-the-top Christian megachurch. Like any other popular Christian rock band - but, you know, for Satan. The band had its first go in the 1960s, but then really came into full being in 2010 and has since done nothing but rise to its full power as you would know them know - the band with the really popular song on TikTok.

There are several important characters within the story/band, who I will now highlight in order of appearance IRL (rather than chronologically in fiction).

PAPA EMERITUS I: Sometimes called "Primo" (Italian for "first") by the fandom. Led Ghost at the time of their debut album, Opus Eponymous. Because he was originally intended to just be a costume and a mask, there's not much canon depth to his story. Was allegedly in his 70s during his reign as antipope and lead singer, but this still does not make sense to me. Mostly a serious old bat, did a lot of "proof of concept" songs that sound very much like what you would expect from a Theatrically Satanic Metal Band.

PAPA EMERITUS II - Papa I's replacement in 2013. Sometimes referred to as "Secundo" ("second" in Italian) by the fandom. His album is called Infestissumam and the cover is a parody of the Amadeus poster, so I respect him for that if nothing else. Notably in his 50s when he took over from Papa I and much more personality, which can be seen in the "Papaganda" videos. He speaks the most Italian and looks like he doesn't not want us to call him Signore Mondiale out of paint. Very much a jaded hedonist who was all too aware of the temporary position he was in as both Antipope and leader of the band.

SISTER IMPERATOR: Not a member of the band, but easily the most important person who exists (in my opinion). To paraphrase my roleplay journal info for her, she is the "mama superior" of the Satanic Church's organization of nuns called the Sisters of Sin, the devoted left-hand of the Antipope (spoilers - not either of the ones you've been introduced to), and "momager" of the Ghost project. First seen in the Summoning videos that came out around the end of Papa II's reign, she is tired of everyone's bullshit and wants Satanic world domination yesterday.

PAPA EMERITUS III: The entire fandom's heartthrob, sometimes called "Terzo" ("third" in Italian). A stinky baby. Very self-important. I love him. Anyway. His reveal in 2015 was the first time we learned that there was a familial bloodline we've been following this whole time. III is Papa II's "younger" brother (by only three months) and, thus, the world's oldest twink. Under his reign, the band won a Grammy for "Cirice" and he was also the first to technically have two albums, Meliora and Ceremony & Devotion - granted the latter of which is a live album. Also the first boy to have to be forcibly removed from his position because he did not want to leave.

PAPA EMERITUS ZERO, aka PAPA NIHIL: The patriarch of the Emeritus bloodline. The Actual Antipope of the Satanic Church and also the love of my life. He's adorable. Fucking look at him. He plays the fucking saxophone. We met him at Papa III's dethroning and soon thereafter learned that There Is Something Going On Between Him & Sister Imperator. (They're in love. Don't let anyone tell you it's not mutual.) He is stubborn and crotchety and old as balls...and also out of heirs by the time we see him and Sister first touch base regarding the band.

CARDINAL COPIA: Papa Nihil's personal assistant, second-most awarded employee of the month, the other apple of Sister Imperator's eye. A fifty-year-old minor. Keeps rats and rides tricycles. He's a good boy and I want to pick him up and carry him everywhere with me. He was the first lead singer of Ghost to take up as head of the band but not be granted the title of Antipope and released Prequelle. (It was a very Star Wars prequel situation - Nihil as the Jedi Council making Copia, as Anakin, a member of the Council but not raising him to the position of Jedi Knight.) Their relationship is contentious in part because Copia is not part of the bloodline.

Er, rather, he's """not""" part of the bloodline.

But actually!

So, remember when I said there was Something Going On Between Sister & Nihil? Yep, there's a backstory. And they are in love. The "Dance Macabre" video details Nihil's ascension to the Antipapacy with Sister's assistance. There's some debate about this video because Nihil implies in one of the story chapters that his family has a very long history as Antipopes within the Church but in this, we see him wander in a bit confused about what's happening until Sister guides him through the ritual. Draw your own conclusions - I know I have! (Mine start with the "Cirice" video, in case you need to take a peek at that again...)

We also learn that actually, Ghost as a musical project originally had its first go in the 1960s, led by Nihil himself! He released the two best songs the band will ever have (including "Mary On A Cross"), but...stardom was...a little too much for him (got a little too hung up on the stupid things like kissing groupies in front of his pregnant girlfriend) and the experiment was prematurely ended.

Did I mention that Sister Imperator is totally pregnant in 1969?

Well, it's a good thing that I did because she sure never has!

With WHOMST, you ask? Well, we don't officially know. But she sure did kill Papa I, II, and III (notably not her sons, despite her obvious relationship with Nihil) once Copia was officially made head of the band so no one would get in his way... (Tobias is not out here writing songs about his OCs, but that being said, I recommend taking a listen to "Witch Image" for my thoughts on this subject.)

PAPA EMERITUS IV: Our reigning Antipope! But, surprise - it's just Copia! Our little rat finally took the coveted position in March of 2020 shortly after Nihil expired on stage. I have still not recovered from the mixed emotions I feel about this situation - immensely proud of my baby boy, forever mourning the loss of my stupid husband. You know how it goes.

As Papa IV, Copia released Impera earlier this year, about two years after his ascension. It's about the rise and fall of empires and everyone seems to be taking this to be a portentous autobiography since the nature of the band is that there will always be some other Antipope waiting in the wings to take over, but I refuse to accept this reality because Copia is the Antichrist and my son and I love him and I'll burn this whole chapel of ritual down if anything bad happens to him ever.

...I think this is coherent, but if it isn't...then, I recommend reading the previous explanation I linked earlier and/or asking for any clarification needed! (I also recommend forgiving me, since sometimes I am very all over the place when I get excited to talk about what I like.)

And you know, actually, as it so happens, on the off chance that anyone does like when I get real hype about what really matters (to me) in Ghost (Sister & Nihil), I may have some good news about that for you all soon...

okay! i've finally finished the southern reach trilogy & want to thought dump bc thats what i do when i enjoy things 👍 im going to assume most people have not read this & explain as such

i'll be real i only picked this up bc i saw the movie based off the first book & was like "well huh" & then couldnt get the idea of an environment that just... refracts everything back and in on itself is just. so cool. it's such a cool idea. so when i saw in the credits it was based off a book i HAD to go read it the concept was too interesting i had to know what was in the book they couldnt translate to the movie

i got such a treat oh my god.

something that stood out to me pretty quickly, given im into a completely separate other series where none of the characters have public names, is that, iirc the movie DID give names but the whole first book theres no names. they each have a profession & are called as such. even as we get names in later books, only one of the og characters is ever named and the biologist thats one of the most important characters is simply that. the biologist. & it means absolutely nothing in terms of how impersonal or deep the character feels. because shes utterly complete and herself. respectable. i like that.

but most importantly the world, oh my god the world. the movie has its own not entirely off base take on it. different and yet similar enough. if u like fucked up worlds im recommending this 200% its just SO fascinating. its a little area cut off from the rest of the real world they call area x & it is protected by a sort of boundary but its. self refraction of things doesnt even begin to cover what its got going on. i dont even know how to describe it right. theres THINGS just so many unexplainable things, you think the area is out to get them but it ends up more like... the area's attempt at self preservation at the cost of the other, the intruders. like the whole thing is self aware.

the plants & terrain arent ever changing, not anymore than they would be with time, & not all of the animals are some fucked up threat out to get them. the area itself is the threat, impossible things in the sky, ocean, shadows weaving into the world & messing up whoever happens to come into contact with it. weird inexplicable things happening to those they send in to explore.

and at first it seems like a survivors came back wrong story. like whatever's in there, whatever fucked them up did so to such an extent none of the survivors even live long. which is fascinating in its own right like what is it that harms them to such an extent. & ur introduced to all the weird monsters & occurrences in a way thats like. well this things out to get them. & u need to know more.

& man the more the next 2 books give u is just so INTERESTING.

but first i have to say i hated the corporate mind games that took up 2/3 of the second book. hard to get through. johns such a man baby sometimes & its so frustrating seeing him just decide pieces of the puzzle are no use to him & getting rid of them. sick of his shit. i dont like him much in the 3rd book either but fine whatever.

the last 1/3 of the second book & like all of the third had the same "no what!?!? ur kidding!?!?" reaction as the first book had & was again interesting & easy to get through. LOTS of juicy secrets & info that ties things together & makes it make as much sense as it can & ends off in such a solid way, not without questions, but with a sense that even if those questions were answered, it wouldn't make any difference, would be maybe a trivia fact more than some grounding breakthrough.

also to whom it matters the cast is pretty diverse & natural about it, having them just be people in a situation & not relying on that to be a selling a point like i see in posts all the time here.

im going to get into spoilers here

the nature of area x is so interesting to me. the time paradox, the fact that time moves in a linear fashion and yet the area contains so much passage of time that just. doesnt match the outside world. the shock of grace saying she'd been there 3 years when it'd only been weeks and yet all the signs proved she wasnt lying. the way how suddenly all the decay & change in the area held just that much more weight to it. that things were even less what they seemed. that lended to knowing the biologist's 30 years in there vastly outweighed the real world's time. that part saying that people couldve lived there, lived out whole full lives between the time the border/area was created & when it was first explored because if the time difference just really hit me for some reason. its such a weird space.

and how the area handles people, not the book but the area, how it gets inside them, turns them into something else. learning that what came back from expeditions wasnt the originals. that the area got inside the people who went in & changed them into something completely unrecognizable. turned into a pig slug hybrid with only their face intact, into an owl, into some Thing writing in life itself on tunnel(tower) walls, into a giant fucking whale that can exist wherever it wants to. the fact that, initially, these are viewed as some fucked up creation recreated from who died there, only to be revealed that these forms ARE the original people and they ARE still alive, just in this new form, and while its implied they may not have the same frame of consciousness as people, its also not stated thats 100% the case- that no outsider can know for sure because people can only know people(or at least hope to know people). the whole concept that the originals have become part of the area living there or dying there in this new way, while the world creates copies of them, sends them back to the real world, fools everyone into thinking these copies are the originals, that something just happened to them and somethings not right anymore. that even when ones like the biologist's copy admits they arent the same person, no one believes them. thats so wild. & its framed that 3 people made it back for real, no copies involved, but the only one with any proof is the director. sure whitby & lowry have life spans unlike other "survivors" but at the same time, its also said theres no real way of knowing if the real or copy whitby lived, & iirc the footage seemed to imply lowry was different on the way back too although i guess that could be attributed to stress but its not like the things he says are very trustworthy either. anyway thats just to wild & intriguing to me, that while they're off living or fighting for life or dying, theres a copy of them they arent even aware of, creating a different truth of them to the outside world. neat concept.

the lighthouse keepers story, the way it all started, that kind of got to me. the way he was just doing his best at his job & the more and more u read u know its about to catch up, he about to be consumed by this & start its spread, and theres nothing anyone can do about it. and god the letter to him at the end. i came here to be fascinated and yet that final moment of human respect across people who were no longer people got to me & i ended up crying. which may be stupid of me. but i LOVE when a world can draw u in so thoroughly & then have characters to get caught up in & care about too.

& i love that the nature of this area is so bizarre that, even when things are stated as directly as possible , u think for a moment the narrator is hallucinating or or being vivid & only to moments later have it shoved it ur face that no, thats the reality, thats word for word whats happening. i had a LOT of "what in the actual fuck" moments & they were jarring of course, as they were meant to be for such a peculiar world, but jarring in the way that drew u in more, made u need to know more.

Introduction of Sorts + Interests

This page will really be for me to get back into writing, develop my writing and indulge myself. I’m open to requests though but ask people to definitely contextualize your Bias (person you’re requesting for—yes I’m gonna use K-pop lingo oh well) and/or the scenario cause otherwise I’d simply write for myself. Which is why I also am making this page because I’ve been on tumblr for 10 years (my main account turned ten this year) and I’m worn out of the smut fest no prose or story fics. Definitely has its place in the community but the older I get the more I need actual full blown delusion. I need scene, setting, set up, climax, denouement…and so I’ll fulfill the order myself. 🫡

**the long story short and overall caveat of why I’ve fallen out of love for groups and K-pop are the fact that yeah as a Black person I genuinely started getting pissed off with colorism, n-word usage, appropriation, and mockery. The shit gets old and as a poor old super fan I’m happy I didn’t spend the money people do for folks who would literally refuse my hand…🫤 be fr. Likewise, the deaths of idols who were literally my biases really (of course) bothered me and took a toll on my enjoyment of the genre too. The more you love it the more you learn and that’s usually where the fun ends and now it’s numbers charts and placements. Lame 😭. I let the time I was fan be that but otherwise ? Eh I’m good I’ll bop from time to time and catch the tea but my bread in my pocket (besides my B1A4 What’s Happening and Twice Scientist albums😂)((and the other old albums I’ll get before they disappear forever or get destroyed🫠))
