You and Sasuke were kids, perhaps six or seven, fooling around the training grounds that bordered the Uchiha compound. Both of you were panting and panting it out after playing tag for a couple of hours or so, on occasion with Itachi showing up to give you both something to drink. Every match you did, Sasuke won them all. Always faster, always a step in front of you, but you never minded that. It was fun being around him, catching the rare smiles and hearing the carefree laughs. You plopped yourself down in the grass, small chest heaving as you struggled to catch your breath. Sasuke sat beside you, his face flushed from running, but his expression calm as always. The two of you stared up at the sky, watching as the first stars started to appear. "I'm going to be the strongest shinobi," Sasuke told you with confident delicacy, as if he had decided upon it long ago. You nodded, smiling softly. "I'll be strong too… and I'll always be with you." Sasuke looked at you, his dark eyes gleaming with a rare softness. "Always?" he repeated. You nodded again this time more determinate. "Always." Then out of nowhere, you blurted, "When we grow up, we are going to get married." Sasuke blinked, clearly taken aback. "Married?" he repeated as if to wrap his head around such a concept, not truly knowing of the meaning, but he liked the notion, being with you all of the time! "Yeah," you replied though you have absolutely no idea what marriage entails. You just knew that you wanted to remain by his side, whatever it took. "That way, we'll always be together, whatever happens." Sasuke was quiet a moment longer, before giving you the barest of smiles, one that was over so fast if you had blinked, you would have missed it. "Alright," he said low enough so that his voice was barely audible above a whisper. "We're getting married." By that time, you didn't realise it, but that harmless promise promised became something you would cling to for so many years later. The only thing that brought you to believe that Sasuke will come back to the village was that he kept his promise, to be with you for all time, to marry you.

Years went by, and that innocent childhood promise was dulled when Sasuke never came back, but then, the war happened. The war had torn so much apart, but Sasuke did come back.  It had leapt in your chest when you first heard Sasuke had been brought back, injured but alive. Running to the hospital, the hope of seeing him overwhelmed your sense of caution. But getting there, he'd been asleep, unconscious from the toll the battle had taken from his body. You look at his left arm, which was now gone. What an idiot. His face was pale, his dark hair fanned out on the pillow, his arm bandaged heavily. A sight of him like that vulnerable, worn down made your heart ache. You stood at the edge of his bed, unsure what to say, your hand reaching out and stopping just shy of touching him. "I'm here, Sasuke," you whispered, even though you knew he couldn't hear you. "I never stopped waiting for you." There wasn't an answer, just the steady rise and fall of his chest as he breathed. You watched him for what felt like hours, hoping maybe, just maybe, he would wake up and you could tell him everything

He didn't.

The next time you see him, the situation is quite interesting, you had asked Kakashi were Sasuke was as he wasn't in the hospital and you were told he was... elsewhere. Sasuke has been taken into custody by the Interrogation and Torture Division due to his crimes. 

They were dealing with his fate, and though they had villagers both within his support, against him, and everywhere in between, you know it wasn't going to go easy on him. You wished to see him, and with some reluctance, they allowed you to have a small visitation with him. Down the corridors of highly guarded cells, they took you, stopping at the one that housed Sasuke. 

There was that loud creaking of the opening door, and there he sat, hands bound in chakra-suppressing restraints, his head turned away from the door, he could feel it was you, it was obvious even if his eyes and arm were bound. "Sasuke." Your voice was weak, almost quivering, as you took a step closer toward him.  At first, he said nothing, hi head was angled to the ground, not waiting to face you. Then softly, almost to himself inaudibly, he added, "I'm so sorry." It took you a moment to process the words coming from his lips, as Sasuke rarely, if ever, apologized, let alone something huge as what he had pulled. You swallowed, kneeling down in front of him as your hand reached out to touch his despite the restraints. "Sasuke..." you started, your voice on the verge of breaking. "I am," he cut in, his voice now grating but still with that edge of emotion. "I need to apologize. For everything. For leaving, for hurting you, for what I've done… You could read in his posture, the weight of what he was doing and what he had done, he had hurt you so much, that he tried to kill you three times. It wasn't about the war, nor the village, literally everything, every decision he made that further distanced him from the promise you made as children. "I don't care about anything else," you said, steadiness, with the well of tears brimming in your eyes. "I care about you. You came back, Sasuke. That's all that matters." "I don't deserve it," he muttered incoherently. "That's not for you to decide," you said, your hand clenching hard around his. "We were supposed to be together, remember? No matter what. You can't just decide you don't deserve that." Then Sasuke exhaled the softest of sighs, his head bowing slightly. "I'm sorry," he said again, yet it sounded different this time, less for his guilt, more for what he had lost, for what he yet could keep.

You reached up and carefully lifted his chin so he'd look up at you, though his eyes were covered, at least his face was angled towards your own now. "I'm not going anywhere," you whispered, your thumb brushing against his cheek. "We'll figure this out. Together."

Sasukes head fell to your shoulder. "Thank you," he whispered so quietly you would have missed it if there was sound in the room.

The sun peeks through the thin curtains of your shared bedroom. You stir slightly, your body wrapped up in the cocoon of blankets and tangled up in Sasuke. You turn your head slightly, your eyes barely open, to see him beside you. His face is relaxed in sleep, the furrow in his brow smoothed out. Sasuke peaceful, unruffled-in the home you've built together. You'd never imagined living like this, not back then, not when things were still so tenuous. His breathing evens out into a rhythm and you spend several more minutes doing nothing except staring at him. He is forever unreachable, even when he is right beside you, yet here with just the two of you, it's not quite so much the case. With you, Sasuke can be himself. You reach out, your fingertips brushing against his cheek gently, and he stirs. His eyes flicker open, revealing those eyes you've grown so accustomed to-only now, of course, with that new rinnegan you're still getting used to. For a moment, he looks disoriented-like he doesn't remember where he is-but then his gaze reaches yours and mellows out. A giggle almost slipped past your lips at the sigh as he was so cute. "Morning," you whisper, barely heard. He grunts in return-the sort of sound that makes one smile. So like him. After all this time, together, he still manages to remain the same in small ways. Sasuke isn't a morning person, at least, not when words are involved. You prop yourself up on your elbow, the blankets pooling around your waist as you lean down to press a soft kiss to his lips. Are you hungry?" you ask, your fingers brushing through his dark hair, still slightly tousled from sleep. He grunts again, but you can see the ghost of a smile tugging on one corner of his lips. "I'll make something," you say softly, though a part of you wants to stay in bed with him a little while longer. Before you can pull away, Sasuke's fingers wrap around your wrist in a light but firm grasp. "Stay," he mutters, his tone husky with residual sleep. You can't help but smile at the uncharacteristic plea as you settle back into the bed beside him, tucking your body close to his as he pulls you near. His arm wraps around your waist as his forehead presses against yours and the two of you are still, tangled up in one another. The silence between you is comfortable; neither of you has to say anything. Sasuke's hand moves in a languid pattern up and down your back. "I was thinking." you start off softly, breaking the silence, "perhaps we could go visit Naruto and Hinata later. It's been some time since we've seen them." Sasuke is silent for several moments, his body showing only the barest hint of tension at mention of his old comrade. Things have eased some since the war was over, but there is still a distance between them-something faint and lingering and awkward, which neither of them can quite chase away. "Maybe," he says at last, his voice low and small, not unkind. You smile, knowing that's as close to a yes as you're going to get. Progress, you tell yourself silently as you feel a surge of gratitude that Sasuke's at least willing to make the effort. It's more than you could've hoped for a few years ago. His hand resting on your back stops moving, and he shifts slightly, his lips coming into contact with your forehead. "I'll go," he says softly, which takes you a bit by surprise. You lean back just a bit to look up at him, the ghost of a teasing smile tugging at your lips. "Is this Sasuke Uchiha actually agreeing to willingly spend time with Naruto? He rolls his eyes at the teasing, but the barest hint of a smile tugs at his lips. "Don't push it," he mutters, the words devoid of any real bite. You chuckle softly, pressing a kiss to his cheek. Sasuke doesn't respond to your laugh, but the way his hand tightens around your waist says enough.

So fanart is the way to get out of an art block, but then again, there's the high risk of getting stuck in the fast lane for me, so more Naruto fanart it is till I manage to swerve out of the line (and get stuck in the Zelda or Lord of the Rings lane I guess).

To be honest, I haven't read Boruto, mainly because I hated the designs I'd seen for the adult Naruto characters, which I still find so damn boring. Anyway, have some intermediary aged Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, Kakashi and Iruka; I'm guessing the first three are in their thirties or something.

I actually started this picture because I wanted to rework my Sakura design, and in the end she's the one you can see the least of, lol.

Sorry if I talk about this but it bothered me that some fans were talking about the scene where Sasuke tells Kakashi that he wants to kill him, and well some fans were saying that Kakashi could have ended Sasuke there (which I don't know because I'm not interested in fights and I don't know what would have happened).

But what I hate is that because of that, Sasuke's fans instead of defending him started hating Kakashi and saying bs like "He literally tried to, he tried to kill Sasuke but was too weak to do so and failed. Kakashi was trying to kill sasuke, meaning he wasn’t holding back. He just couldn’t do it cause he’s weak and a fraud"

Kakashi didn't want to kill Sasuke, he only says it once Naruto arrives at the scene, but before that he never showed any intention of trying, also "weak" "fraud" gosh I hate this fandom...

Kakashi straight up told Sasuke he didn’t want to fight, and while we don’t see anyone say he’s holding back in this fight we hear Obito say it in their fight later on

Obito, who Kakashi had resolved to kill but was still holding back against because deep down he couldn’t do it even if he knew it would be better for the world

Kakashi was fighting to defend himself, not to kill Sasuke. Sasuke was the aggressor here. Kakashi had flat out stated he did not want to fight and Sasuke laughed and said he was ‘itching to kill Kakashi’

Now that being said, no Kakashi wouldn’t have one and that’s cuz Sasuke got hax after hax

Sasuke got enhanced abilities as we understand from the scene of Sakura talking about how unnatural his power growth seemed, and Kakashi states then and there that there is only one way he can think of to combat that, and that idea ONLY works for Naruto

And by the time that Sasuke and Kakashi fight, Kakashi has fully recognized that Naruto surpassed him. Ssuke is a foil to Naruto. If Naruto has surpassed Kakashi, Sasuke has surpassed Kakashi

This isn’t because Kakashi’s a ‘fraud’ or ‘weak’ it’s because as the antagonist to the main character Sasuke is meant to get stronger

To pose a threat to Naruto’s growth and a challenge to Naruto

If he wasn’t able to beat Kakashi he wouldn’t be full filling his role in the storyline

That being said, when everything is said and done

Kakashi is a shinobi of his own skill, even teaching himself to use the sharingan which is a huge drain on him

Sasuke and Naruto are god tier Shinobi. NO ONE (until Boruto’s mess) can face them by the end of the manga. Kakashi is still a regular top tier shinobi

I do not know how to make people understand, but Kakashi is a Kage level shinobi. He can face almost anyone and not break a sweat, and those who will cause him to break a sweat are top tier shinobi or straight up GOD TIER

SAsuke and Naruto get granted permebent power ups, Sasuke with a lot more questionable methods at the start of shippuden, because they’re the two characters Kishi wanted to make the power houses. The main character (naruto) and his fpil

If they didn’t surpass Kakashi, Kishi would have been doing the story an injustice. Espeshally given Kakashi’s belief in ‘the bext generation surpassing the past’ (kishi did a huge disservice to this idea by bringing the past Hokage into the big fight against Madara. The allied shinobi forces should never have needed rescuing from Minato and should have been able to figure out their own way to protect themselves)

To reiterate: Sasuke, by the kage summit arc, should have logiclly surpassed Kakashi because of all the power up’s he kept getting handed

If he had not surpassed Kakashi, he would not be at Naruto’s level which would not make him a good foil to Naruto

I LOVE Butterfly like you have no idea 😭I know people are not liking Naruto's actions right now, neither do I, but i like that you've wrote him being able to do something like that to precious Hina, your not going soft route and making him too nice or too accomadating, it really feels like he doesn't know her at all, which he doesnt! it's easy to hurt and use people you don't know and he's a prime example of that. He's not out to be malicious, but he's careless with her feelings because he doesn't KNOW her at all. People seem to shy away from making a character that flawed but you lean into and I love it! Naruto is setting himselg up for a WORLD of hurt, I can see it already! Knowing you dont' do sad endings, I can safely enjoy this angst and heartache!!

Monster is my heart!!!!! The Boruto series should have gone this route because the plot for the Otsutsuki is out of this world!! It adds so much tension and suspense, and the lovey dovey moments with NaruHina are like a drug I can't stop doing! I'm scared now though! Ino got those worm root things poured into her mouth by Shino and things are getting really weird and I know you warned us that angst is coming (again I'm gonna enjoy it since you don't do sad endings) but now I'm petrified because Hinata has been acting weird all the way up to this point, and I think whatever was done to her by Toneri is about to come fruition! I'm scared for her and for Naruto! That book is an amazing balance of horror, smut, love and angst!!

I'm DYING for more Prey 😭 I love me a dark fic and Naruto is stone cold crazy af and I love ittttttt! My break is just about over, sorry about the long wait! My stories have been calling me, especially my throuples thanks to my Sims 4 game 🤭I'm even more convinced now that a NaruHinaSasu dynamic is a special, beautiful dynamic and I cannot wait to finish my other throuple fics as well as add more. I'm very happy you enjoy all my stories to such an extent 😭I work pretty hard on them and am glad that I can create stories that can push a person from their comfort zone and still have them content in a new, unexplored territory! A Cure For Love was my first attempt at M/M action and people seem to enjoy it, shockingly, quite a few people that don't like M/M either but love the story regardless are REALLY into this story😵‍💫 and that still blows my mind! It's nice to see more people coming on board the MMF ship! 🤭It's really diverse in here. There's SasuNaru fans willing to give those two with Hinata a try, there's SasuHina fans willing to make room for Naruto, there's NaruHina fans willing to open their hearts to Sasuke, I love the vibe of that story so much. The community is so nice and amazing!

I'm glad I could change your perspective on Sasuke, he really gets way too much hate and not enough understanding/compassion in my opinion. I've gone through deaths of loved ones before, and that shit eats you up inside, it's like a lifetime disease that chips away at you non-stop, I could not imagine going through it to his extent, I'd lose my damn mind too. Idc what no one says, I love Sasuke and my heart goes out to him 100% and I don't say that lightly. I adore Naruto, and Sasuke shouldn't have put him through what he did, but I also am of the mind of Naruto. Sasuke needed help. He was self destructive and losing himself, and I'm glad Naruto could see that and help him. I wish I had a Naruto, I swear.

I love flawed characters like Naruto in Butterfly. You're right that there's gonna be some heavy angst, but as I said, I don't do sad ends, but I do want to hurt your heart 😇enjoy the pain, you've got three books of it coming up.

Don't even get me started on everything wrong with Boruto 🤦🏾‍♀️such lazy writing imo. It's like they skimmed through Naruto and Shippuden rather than watched it fully. That series is not canon to me, never will be. Monster is my horror baby, and you're right, it's about to get wayyyyy worse. Prepare yourself is all i can say.

In boruto movie that kishi took part In ( where its about naruto and sasuke parenting burrito), the part where both naruto and sasuke were running towards the villan, I remember some sak**a stan had edited saku*a In there running along with them (this isn't a rant, it's related to what I'm about to say). In the war arc, naruto and sasuke are so giddy and happy to fight alongside each other, meanwhile sakura and kakashi are in the background. In the land of waves its about naruto and sasuke competing, teasing and bonding with each other, while sakura is... somewhere else. When naruto reunites with sasuke at orochimaru's lair,it's just them two staring at each other for god knows how long ( kishi was vey generous with how much pages he drew for that 😌), meanwhile sakura is standing... there... at the side.

To summarise, sakura is a third wheel and you feel it. Like really feel it. When naruto and sasuke get together she is forgotten. ( didn't she say to sasuke that naruto always came between them?), you don't get the feeling that she's even a team member, she's just there. And sakura fans get that she is the third wheel otherwise they wouldn't of edited her running along w them in the above example. What I wanted to say is don't sakura fans get exhausted? All the editing they do, all the lies they tell, everything they twist and exaggerate to make sak*ra look more relevant then she is, that she is an important member of team seven, that naruto and sasuke do care about her. Don't they get tired? A lot of manga and official arts they bring out to "prove" the ss ship, all of it are just edits., they edit naruto or kakashi out and stick sasuke and saku**a together.

It seems exhausting to keep on lying and exaggerating and to clinging on to trash novels and still not feeling satisfied at the end because deep down they know that sakura is pathetic and their ship is full of holes ( they k ow otherwise they wouldn't lie). Isn't it simply easier to admit the truth than to tire themlves out and make themselves look like idiots? It doesn't seem worth it to me, if I was them I'd just move on to another self insert ship with more ground.

Hehehe, don't be sorry. Yes, it really must be exhausting. The lengths people go to, to convince themselves of lies that are so in your face. It's like believing in a superstition. You know that logically, it simply doesn't make sense. But beliefs aren't always rational. SS (like Nh) are operating on emotions and their emotions reside in the idea of self inserting into a popular girl who gets the hot, popular guy. Yes, it's shallow. Yes, it's silly. Yes, it's reductive of f/m relationship. But well, it's what gives them comfort. Sure, it would be much better if they admitted that they ship it because they like it, not because it makes sense in canon. It so obviously doesn't. They don't care anon. They obviously have the luxury of time and energy to put all this extraneous effort in their silly ships.

I feel better knowing they are just immature people who one day will have to grow up and see things as they are. If not, then it's their loss. If they really wanted to help themselves, they can, it's just a matter of educating oneself. Lying to oneself sure is hard, but isn't it just a matter of how badly you want something and how far can you go to get it? People lie to themselves all the time. SS or NH are just a couple of examples.

Hii I'm anon from my before task. How about this version. The dream begins in Chapter 677. Sasuke protects himself (Naruto and the other two) with his Susanoo because he doesn't let the moonlight in. Everyone else is already trapped in the Genjutsu. Then Madara is sacrificed by Zetsu and supposedly he is behind everything.

What if all this was Madara's plan from the beginning. His supposed sacrifice by Zetsu causes the Main Cast to turn their attention away from Madara. They fight on in their consciousness but in reality they too are already trapped in the illusion. Everything continues as in the manga because the 4 think they are not trapped in an illusion. They don't dissolve the illusion either, they just think they did. So the Boruto arc begins, which makes even less sense.

In Chapter 681 Naruto says "Of all things… you people of all things… are not the history of ninjas!!!". I'll take Naruto's word for it. The whole world of ninjas was created by Kaguya? That makes no sense at all.

What I'm thinking/suspecting now (just my thoughts): The illusion lasts until Gaiden, then some character dissolves it (I want to keep this very vague, otherwise I'd have to write down my entire idea). Madara is very weakened by this, will soon disintegrate but wants to come back and complete his mission. But he has to prepare himself and store his Juubi somewhere safe. Who better than a human who becomes a vessel for it. Naruto still has Kurama, so that won't work. Madara realizes that someone else still has large reserves of chakra and wants to seal it in Karin.

Since Sasuke is (in my eyes) the best, smartest and strongest of them all, he wakes up first. He now also realizes that it was all a genjutsu and thinks about everything and realizes that the Juubi must be sealed into someone with large chakra reserves. He thinks of Naruto but then he realizes Naruto already has one. And after much thought, Karin comes into his mind. He gets up and goes to find her, seeing Madara in the process. A sphere has formed, he wants to go to her and somehow he finds himself in Karin's past (which he realizes in the process).

So, how would change the story if Karin becomes in this particular time a bijou, how would it change her relationship to taka/sasuke, especially sasuke knowing now about her brutal past and the story in general

Hello! I understand. So while everyone is living a genjutsu that the war is over and years go on until Gaiden times so until they are adults, Madara seals Juubi in Karin, Sasuke wakes up because he's smarter than the others and sees Madara doing that to Karin but can't stop him, in fact he sees her past even.

I think he'd act like he did with Juugo, knowing he is dangerous and unpredictable but wanting him close not only for his power to use for his advantage but to help him. He'd want to be Karin's 'cage', like he said to Juugo, and it's not a cage meaning to imprison her (or Juugo) in fact it's more a shield between dangerous uncontrollable power and others, as Sasuke would, trying to calm/stop her, shield others from her eventual danger, taking the brunt of it if it gets bad.

She'd accept his care like Juugo did because she doesn't want to be alone, she wants to be in a group and she loves him and Team Taka. And ofc she'd learn to control her power, or she'd try to.

I guess one ending could’ve been like how Katekyo Hitman Reborn ended. The major plot point was that the MC, Tsunayoshi, does not want lead the mafia family of his bloodline. Bunch of stuff happens and lot of things are resolved about the world, etc. but this core ideology of the MC does not change.

So, the manga has an open-end of a sort. Our characters are mature, the active enemies have been defeated, the curse has been broken, and now it’s open to actually live their life, however they may choose freely.

Naruto didn’t have to end with solving everything, it’s obvious that long term institutional problems won’t be solved so easily. Instead solving active problems like madara, obito, danzo, the bijuu (free or forever prisoners? Perhaps the bijuu all being sent to another plane so no village has the ‘nuclear option)

Make a world ending problem that forces the villages to cooperate and create a fragile peace, with a hope to move towards something better. End there.

Next step, if needed and after a good time skip and break for Kishi, would be Naruto trying to maintain this fragile peace and his struggle with politics and finding his own way to become a kage. That could’ve been part 3 of Naruto.

haven't watched that series before but an open ending seemed like the way to go for naruto too. that's an interesting idea with sending the bijuu to another plane... hmm. though it would be nice to see I'm not of the opinion that naruto and sasuke should solve everything, I mean a main point with madara and hashirama was exactly that, that they didn't need to solve everything themselves, but naruto and sasuke should at least do something tangible rather than whatever it is they've got going on boruto. right now it reads to me that the village's are united cuz of the common enemy (otsutsuki) and cuz naruto is besties with everyone yk? and while I would have really liked to see that part 3 of naruto, a mass political reform is not going to appeal to the majority of shonen's target audience is it? even with fights interspersed in between, naruto and sasuke are the world's strongest by the end who could and would have the power to oppose them... it's hard.

A little later at the same time:

"Wait Mitsuki!" Sarada calls after him worried. It's useless, he doesn't listen to her. Events have unfolded in the last hour.

It started with Mitsuki's idea to visit Kawaki, who has been living with the Uzomaki's for a few months.

Apparently it wasn't such a good idea after all. Hinata, Boruto's mother received them with concern.

She told both of them , that there was an incident involving Boruto and Kawaki where Boruto was badly injured. In addition, the 7th and Sensei Shikamaru were in mortal danger. Hinata and Himawari weren’t allowed to entrance the institute.

After this shocking news there was no stopping for Mitsuki, "I'll kill HIM!!!" were his alarming words. Sarada, just as shocked and horrified by the news, has since tried to calm her friend down, but with no avail.

Sarada has now caught up with Mitsuki and runs alongside him.

"You don't even know the background of the hole happening, maybe it was Code , who attacked both of them," she tries to rationally fathom what happened.

Or maybe the other side has resurfaced in Boruto after the Code was a massive threat to everyone and Borutoshiki‘s escape only made things a whole lot worse, she thinks and hopes.

If it turns out that Kawaki acted out of sheer malice, she wouldn't know how to handle the situation. But it is not yet the time to make decisions. Right?

Gradually she begins to understand that life as a Hokage also has its downsides. But if you have to take a life to save an entire city, you have to take that step.

Making a sacrifice, however, conforms to her father's way.

On the other hand, she had vowed years ago not to give up on anyone so easily and to save a friend.

Does the 7th have to make such difficult decisions as the Hokage, too? she thinks.

Seeing an emotional and tearful Mitsuki breaks Sarada's heart. She puts herself in his shoes and probably would do the same if she were in his place.

"Okay, I won't intervene if it turns out that Kawaki attacked Boruto out of pure malice," she promises Mitsuki.

Her friend looks at her seriously, but says nothing more. She hopes that everything will be fine in the end and worries about her teammates.

At the institute:

" Shikamaru, have you gone insane? You can't just hand Kawaki over to an enemy cyborg like that. What has become of the man who promised to protect the next generation with all his might? Kawaki is also part of the next generation,” Naruto yells angrily at Shikamaru.

"Naruto, do you still not understand our hopeless situation? I'm just trying to protect our families and Konoha. And anyway? How much do we know about the boy?” Shikamaru explained.

"I think to betray him, will only bring him against us more," says Naruto.

Surprisingly, a flea-sized Kawaki perches on her shoulder. Her Sharingan suddenly activates and she sees him clearly. WHAT THE?! she thinks and hides him under her top. Now just shut up! she hopes. I try to get you to safety and she suddenly realizes that he is the first to see this very personal glimpse of hers and her face blushes. She sincerely hopes that Mitsuki won't look at her now. He would immediately become suspicious.

" Where is he? Dammit ! He'll pay for doing that to Boruto,” Mitsuki yells angrily.

"Hey Mitsuki, please please calm down. It seems that he is nowhere here. There's no use getting so emotional," Sarada tries to calm him down and distract herself a little.

" WHAT DO YOU MEAN?!" he yells at her, tears welling in his eyes.

"Mitsuki..." seeing her friend like that. Having to face Mitsuki’s nervous breakdown, breaks her heart.

"I understand you, I'm worried too," and holds her hand where Kawaki is right now, "but we have to keep calm and in the end Boruto is still alive."

Mitsuki calms down a bit and thinks about what she said, "You're right. It's so frustrating for me. He is my sun and I want to protect him for everything in the world..."

Sarada walks up to her friend and hugs him, "I know... he will be fine and we'll find him soon..."

Don't you touch me somewhere there!, she thinks of the third person between them and means Kawaki.

Meanwhile, Kawaki sits on her sternum, red as a tomato, finding the situation somehow odd standing between her and Mitsuki. He would rather be alone with Sarada...

Nothing like this has ever happened to him, but it's one of the nicer and funnier experiences he's had in his otherwise so sad life. He clearly hears Mitsuki and Sarada's discussion, knowing that the conversation is about Boruto and him. He understands, that Sarada wants to save his and Mitsuki’s life.

Mitsuki has always seemed a bit strange. He was always watching everything and everyone. Preferably Boruto and Kawaki. And his "you're interesting" didn't make it any easier for Kawaki. But it turned out to be a good one, because Sarada seems much calmer than Mitsuki.

Oddly, he's always worried up until now that she would be the one who would freak out after the Boruto incident last happened.

As soon as time permits, he will have to explain everything to her. He is reassured that she is a reliable friend, maybe the only one. He carefully nestles against her breastbone and feels safe at this moment. He closes his eyes for a moment and listens to her heartbeat in confirmation, Sarada places her hand on Kawaki.

Sasuke overhears Mitsuki and Sarada's conversation. One of his fears has come true, the two have figured out Boruto's and Kawaki's secret, judging by Mitsuki's angry voice in the visitors' compartment, he finds them both too. Disappointingly, he also realizes that there is a third person under Sarada's top.

You two will have to explain that to me! , he thinks. However, he doesn't betray Kawaki, that he doesn't need a fight between two hooligans gone wild right now, from which one of them would most likely die. On top of that, Amado could appear with this cyborg and he doesn't want to use the boy as a pawn.

Sarada looks at her father in shock. She can't fool him. He also sees Kawaki...

Not good... she thinks.

"You two are probably looking for Boruto and Kawaki?" He asks them both and looks sternly at Sarada, who looks shy and caught.

Meanwhile, Mitsuki is highly emotional. Sasuke has never seen Orochimaru's vessel in this condition. He worries about how Mitsuki will react when it comes to Boruto and an outbreak of the Otsutki genes. Then he and Sarada must necessarily act, probably Kawaki would help them in that as well.

"We have to split up! Come Mitsuki! We're looking for Boruto. Don't worry he's fine. And Sarada, you're looking for Kawaki! You're the only other person who has the Sharingan and should be able to track him down," he tells her.

"Okay, dad! Please be careful!” she says worriedly.

"We will!" Sasuke says to her.

Both groups separate. Sarada waits until the other two are out of earshot.

Finally she is alone with him, "it would be better if you don't lie to me and told me immediately what happened," she whispers. Does he hear irritation in her voice?

Kawaki crawls onto her shoulder so that she understands what he says.

"I've never lied to you, Sarada," says Kawaki, a little offended, pondering how to explain all of this, and climbs into her ear so only she can hear him.

" Thanks... for helping me and you should better not talk now. They're after me. I mean Amado and Shikamaru..." and explains the whole story to her with his resurrected Karma Mal, Code, the outbreak of Boorushiki. That Boruto asked for Kawaki to rid him of this monster. His own injury and unconsciousness, to the point that Shikamaru has to team up with a stranger without his consent.

"All I want is to protect Konoha and the 7th," he says earnestly, ending his explanation.

Horrified at what happened, Sarada heads towards the exit with Kawaki to take him to safety. She can't believe that Sensei Shikamaru wants to give Kawaki to a stranger, but she doesn't allow it. Shikadai's father has always been suspicious of Kawaki, which she doesn't understand.

Kawaki is an ass sometimes, but not a liar!

But she is also touched that Kawaki finally has the sense to protect the village and his own home.

You've learned so much and growed, she thinks happily and a small smile forms on her lips, which Kawaki doesn't get to see.

"I promised you. If you need help, I will be there for you and I will not allow you to be handed over to someone else. You are a good friend,” she tells him firmly and softly.

"Sarada..." he breathes into her ear full of admiration, giving her goosebumps.

"Come on, let's go!" she whispers softly.

In front of the institute:

Amado safely brought the two cyborg siblings, Eida and Daemon, to the Science Institute with the help of another of Amado's cyborgs named Koji Kachin.

"You're about to learn the leadership of Konoha, and Kawaki can often be found near the Hokage. The boy feels an obsessive fatherly love for him. I'll put you under Shikamaru and you'll have Delta for backup. Both of them are under your spell now, ”Amado explains to the attractive cyborg, her little brother is still sitting on his shoulders and playing piggyback.

"So I'll work with you," she whispers sweetly. This artificial human is really scary, just like her hyperactive brother.

"Hey, grandpa! You told me and my sister why you're so after Kawaki..." Daemon asks.

“Boruto?” asks Aida surprised, “Code is after him… I know what you're talking about. "

"It doesn't matter if Code gets hold of him or..." Amado is interrupted when he sees a young girl storming out of the institute and she doesn't pay much attention to the trio.

Eida looks after the young girl, "Tell Amado. Who is this girl?”

Amado looks after Sarada and sees the Uchiha's emblem on her back.

"That must be Sasuke Uchiha's daughter, Sarada . Both are the last descendants of the Uchiha's..." he says thoughtfully.

„Interesting“, said Eida.

"We're here and leave the talking to Shikamaru to me," Amado reminds her. You'll see Kawaki in a moment. When Eida is hearing his name, the cyborg immediately blushes and seems shy again. A strange phenomenon to observe in an artificial human.

At the institute:

The argument between Naruto and Shikamaru has calmed down a bit.

"What should we do with her? I have little faith in that cyborg,” uncomfortable memories with Delta flooded back into Naruto's mind.

"She works for Konoha now. The problem is that she is also under Eida's spell. She's still a useful protection against Code if we can get Eida on our side," Shikamaru muses.

Delta looks unimpressed. All she cares about is seeing Eida again. Oh, it hurts so much not being able to be near her.

The door slowly opens and in the entrance stand Amado, Eida and a little boy no older than Naruto's daughter Himawari.

This is supposed to be the still unknown person that Kawaki has done so? A little boy not more than 10 years old...

Well Shikamaru wouldn't be in this position if he had underestimated his opponents in the past and his intuition tells him that this boy is dead dangerous.

Eida smiles seductively at him, " Shika dear! I am happy to see you again. This is my little brother and protector Daemon," she looks over at Delta, "hello Delta darling, I missed you so much..."

Amado rolls his eyes in annoyance at Eida's behavior, although she can't help it and acts according to her nature.

Delta acts like a shy teenager in love, trying to hide her flush with her hands. Oh God! She's back! she thinks.

" He...he..hello Eida...", she says shyly.

Meanwhile, beads of sweat form on Shikamaru's forehead. He knows that Eida is there for the sole reason that she wants to see Kawaki.

However, Sasuke hasn't come back with the boy yet and without him it will be difficult to get Eida on Konoha's side.

Eida looks at him reassuringly, "You're worried about me, Shika dearest. How sweet of you! But do not worry. I know where he is…." She turns to Delta and walks towards her and strokes Delta's cheek with her index finger, "My dear Delta. Would you do me a favor ♡ ?”

Delta's looks into Eida's eyes she could sink and forgets everything around her,

"I would fulfill your every wish...Tell me what you want."

Amado doesn't like the way Eida takes over so quickly, „Eida! It's enough now! Didn't I tell you to let me do the talking?!"

" Don't be so jealous, Amado ♡ . I'll get right back to you," Eida turns back to Delta, "you know I want to see my Kawaki. But he's not here, he's with a young girl. Her name is Sarada. She is easy to spot. She wears black short hair, red glasses and red clothes. Take care of her, I don't want to have to share Kawaki with anyone. "

"I will find her, dear Eida," Delta tells her, oblivious to other orders along the way.

Shikamaru's alarm bells are ringing. Shocked to hear what order Eida just gave to Delta, Shikamaru speaks up, "What are you trying to say? Leave the Uchiha's daughter out of the game. She has nothing to do with it..."

"Oh, she's very involved with everything here. But that doesn't have to bother you anymore, Shika-dear ...", she breathes menacingly, "Daemon, be so kind and take care of him..."

I'm never reading Boruto and am just going to continue to ignore its existence, Boruto manga's existence really is to the detriment of the series, so I'm going to write a better epilogue to Naruto.

Other people have talked about it before and better than I can so go look it up but Naruto and Sasuke are obsessed with each other, I don't see it as necessarily romantic but those two definitely have something going on. Naruto chooses a double suicide with Sasuke where they can be free of the circumstances and hate of their current lives and reunite in the next life over a life of living without Sasuke and becoming Hokage. And Naruto is the mover in Sasuke's life, he's what breaks the hold hate (borne of love) has on Sasuke. After everything and as shown by the choices they've made for each other, those two would continue to be for each other the person they think about most. But after the events of Shippuden those two need sure need therapy. Some time for self reflection about actually be good for Sasuke since he's spent the last 4 years doing zero self reflection and zero thinking. Seriously Sasuke's an idiot, he doesn't think, he's all emotion and there is zero filter on that emotion he just immediately acts on whatever emotion he's feeling and throughout Shippuden that dominant emotion is this mix of grief, and anger, and hate because he loved so much that the loss of that love hit him twice as hard (not that Itachi helped with his little plan). But in the ensuring years I hope that Sasuke and Naruto can help each other grow and in turn grow their relationship into something healthier given how much they mean to each other.

I do think Sasuke spends a good few years wandering the continent (5?), he finally gets to process all that grief he's been repressing, all the people he has wronged, he gets to expand his world view after the years he spent with revenge tunnel vision. Being in Konoha is also probably painful after the events of Shippuden, when he revisits with Orochimaru to Edo Tensei the Hokages he seems to have complicated emotions about the village, after all it has all he loved and all he hated. Naruto also joins him in backpacking around the continent like a couple of college dudes on a gap year. I can see Naruto just flat out leaving with Sasuke, but at the most Naruto would lose patience after a year or two waiting for him to come back. Naruto would join Sasuke on his travels because he misses Sasuke, and it would be good for Sasuke to have a little push and who better to give that push than Naruto, otherwise who knows how long it would take Sasuke to figure things out and get his shit together. Time away from the village would soothe the pain and especially with Naruto there other parts of his life could grow around that pain.

This is very in character for Naruto to go wandering with Sasuke, he chose Sasuke over the chance to become Hokage once, he'll do it again. Naruto said he would accept all of Sasuke's hatred so that his friend could live free of that burden. Naruto still wants to become Hokage but Kakashi is doing fine and Sasuke needs him, what's a couple years in the long run, and really Naruto needs it too the space and time to process everything he's gone through since he too has tunnel visioned on chasing Sasuke the last 4 years. A major theme of the second half of Shippuden and the Fourth Shinobi War in particular is the importance of relying on others and not taking on burdens by yourself. Itachi learns this from Naruto and after Naruto has his powerup he himself needs to reminded to not try and do everything on his own, that his friends and comrades are there with him, its not just Naruto saving the world on his own its all shinobi together saving the world. And so through this I speculate that Naruto no longer feels like he needs to be Hokage because he can rely on others now. As a kid Naruto clung to the idea of becoming Hokage to cope with the village hating him, it was his way of sticking it to all those that had sneered at him and his way of proving to himself that he belonged. As is repeated in the manga a person isn't acknowledged because they are Hokage, they are Hokage because they are acknowledged. By the end of the main story Naruto is acknowledged by Konoha he no longer has to fight for recognition the way he did at the beginning of the manga where he acted out and played pranks. And so becoming Hokage becomes a way of helping heal Konoha and the shinobi world instead of something he did for himself. Studying by the book to be a jounin or being slacker Kakashi's secretary would also probably drive Naruto up the wall.

Traveling together I hope that they can relearn each other and form a new foundation for their relationship. They may have had a heart to heart with their fists but they haven't really talked and neither are 13 anymore, they've both changed and now can process the old and the new. They can meet each other halfway without all the jealousy, inferiority-superiority complex, hatred, revenge plots or pressure to be better weighing them down. They will probably always be at least a little competitive with each other but it comes from a place of appreciation and awe ("Sasuke is so cool", "Naruto is amazing"), pushing each other to be the best versions of each other instead of the mess the had before. Traveling gives them the space to be the weird awkward freaks all teenagers and young adults are and explore their adolescence and early adulthood without the looming threat of war or responsibility over their comrades' lives. And maybe they fall in love or maybe not, but either way this gives them the privacy to figure out themselves and their relationship.

Naruto eventually pulls Sasuke back to Konoha in their early twenties, and if Sasuke though dealing with his angst and turmoil was hard before now comes the truly hard part, living with the reminders of your actions and making amends, but its worth it especially with Naruto by his side. Maybe Sasuke can motivate Naruto to actually study too since just like Naruto Sasuke never got chunin nor jounin certification. Between no one forgetting for Sasuke tried to wipe the Hidden Leaf Village off the map, his general behavior in Shippuden, his status as a rouge ninja for several years, and all the people he's killed and ninja laws he's broken I don't think Sasuke is climbing any ladders any time soon. Even any formal promotion like jounin would likely be months if not years behind Naruto as few trust him or would want the village to claim and acknowledge him in that way. But the fact remains that Sasuke is one of the strongest ninja out there and Kakashi at least would want to help him prove himself to the village, let him take on missions to slowly build credibility whether that be missions for genin or those too dangerous for others to take on. It probably takes a couple years but things do eventually stabilize and the two even start to have burgeoning careers. They probably rarely have missions together since the two of them together is probably overkill, but they cherish the missions they do get together (also an opportunity to show off), and their shared down time. Now with Sasuke at his side Naruto isn't quite as restless and does prove himself worthy of jounin as well as coming to terms that the job of Hokage is a lot of bureaucracy and paperwork especially in peace times. EA little headcanon I like is that the Uchiha kept raptors as ninja animals and messenger birds in a private forest and so Sasuke changing team names from Hebi to Taka and using hawk summons isn't just him breaking ties with Orochimaru, its him reclaiming a part of his clan heritage that he had discarded in his pursuit of power. He returns to that raptor forest this time with Naruto, ready to revive the Uchiha clan in his own way.

Any marriage they had would likely be very small and private and possibly just the two of them privately exchanging cups given how famous they are, the distrust of most people towards Sasuke, them much like the rest of shinobi society trying redefine old customs to create something better, and it also just being very personal promise and commitment to each other and no one else. What I do wonder is if Naruto changes his family name or they both keep their clan names unchanged. While it would be an interesting character development for Sasuke to give up the Uchiha name I think it is the least likely option. Naruto never really had any ties to the Uzumaki clan but at the same time that and the seal are the few reminders of his mother that he has so I can see him being attached. At the same time Naruto would really like the idea of formally joining the Uchiha clan, having that tangible proof that he's a part of Sasuke's family would mean a lot to him.

Family is central to the characters of both Naruto and Sasuke, it is thus incongruent with their existing characterization, counter to the heart of their themes and character development, and frankly ridiculous that they are both absent fathers in Boruto. Naruto's entire thing is that he grew up along without a family, watching his classmates with their families while never being able to be a part of that. That was what initially drew him to Sasuke, that they both were alone without families and why it bothered him so much that Sasuke got so much positive attention while he only got negative attention when he and Sasuke seemed to Naruto to be in the same situation. That's why Iruka taking him under his wing meant so much to Naruto, that's why Jiraiya's death meant so much to him, these two men changed the course of his life, Naruto knows he would not be where he is without the two of them and not for the jutsu he learned but for the mentoring and familial roles Iruka and Jiraiya were for him. Minato and Kushina showing up and the whole introduction of ying Kurama was classic Kishimoto bullshit but you can see how much meeting his parents meant to Naruto.

Everything, everything, everything Sasuke did was because of love for his family. He loved his family so much, that's why their loss hit him so hard, his love of his brother is why Itachi's betrayal destroyed him. All that love turned to grief and he could not process it so he convinced himself that all that pain was hatred and anger. And he had no one to help him through that, Itachi was encouraging it, Kakashi has the delicacy and emotional intelligence of a rock (he's also like so repressed) and didn't really understand the depths of his love, and part 1 Naruto is part 1 Naruto. Sasuke never had a "goal" so much as he was just acting out on his emotions, but he always thought his goal was the revival of the Uchiha clan and you can see how his interpretation of his changes like he wanted to kill Itachi because he saw him as a traitor of the clan to him trying to destroy Konoha to eliminate all those who had thought badly or hated his clan and thus erase the sullied memory of the Uchiha clan. None of these really make sense and that's because Sasuke isn't thinking like at all. Family is they most important thing to both Sasuke and Naruto, its always been the desire closest to their hearts, its something they would shape their lives around.

Sasuke does eventually figure out how to turn off the Rinnegan. In the series we really only see 2 other sets of rinnegan: Hagoromo who is a special boy and the originator, and Madara's. All other Rinnegan users we see like Nagato and Obito had transplanted Madara's eyes and transplanted Sharingan can not be turned off. Even considering how Sharingan transplanted from one Uchiha to another can be turned off (Eternal Mangekyo), the only times we see Obito with the Rinnegan are in battles. Since the Rinnegan evolves from the Sharingan (one of the worst writing choices in the manga just so Kishimoto could pull another sudden powerup out of his ass), the Rinnegan should have similar properties to the Sharingan like the eyes reverting back to normal when not in use. It would be very in character for Madara to always have them active as it's a show of power and he is a very prideful man. Hagoromo is a mythological demi-god so he gets a pass at needing an explanation, maybe he's just like that. All other instances we see of the Rinnegan are in battle or with transplanted eyes.

It's probably not until like their mid-twenties at least that the boys get their lives together and are in any situation to consider introducing a child into the mix. And then there's the discussion they would need to have of what family means to them, after everything he has gone through what does the Uchiha clan now mean to Sasuke, and how do they navigate this without repeating the mistakes of the past, how to break the cycle of hatred. Up until this point and even after returning to Konoha Sasuke has refused a new left arm. Living with one hand, performing ninjutsu with one handed seals, has been Sasuke's way of punishing himself. The loss of him arm is tied up in his past actions and also how Naruto saved him in their final battle. Of course it is Naruto that convinces him to finally get that arm, after all Naruto forgave him years ago it was Sasuke that needed to forgive himself and instead of focusing on punishing himself turn that energy outward towards making a positive impact. Its also for practicality, managing a baby is difficult enough as is without being down an arm. It's important that Sasuke and Naruto match, they share a pair of gloves with moon and sun marks. Or alternately Naruto never gets the Hashirama-White Zetsu arm because let's be real its kinda weird, and both Naruto and Sasuke live with the reminder of what they have done to each other and the consequences of their actions. The two of them forming hand seals together would also be cute.

Naruto and Sasuke have several options for children, they could adopt and they could find a egg donor. Of all the people they know they'd trust Sakura the most, like Sakura was always there for Naruto throughout Shippuden. We don't get nearly the amount of information on Sakura's views of family like we do with Sasuke and Naruto but she seems like the type to like kids. Let's be real Sakura for quite a while is the only functioning adult of the group, she got her life together immediately, and while the boys were off finding themselves in the woods she was on the ground rebuilding Konoha. Sakura's probably going to like revolutionize medical standards and like form fantasy World Health Organization or fantasy Médecins Sans Frontières or something. Really after all the boy drama maybe she stays single, maybe she and Ino spark something, maybe she meets someone who finally appreciates her. Sakura deserves to be free of her cringe middle school crush and if Kishimoto won't do it I will. And that's how Team 7 ends up co-parenting a baby. I don't know if they did like IVF or like they just handed Sakura a sperm sample but let's be real Naruto and Sasuke probably don't understand the details either they leave it to the medical specialist. It's Sasuke's by the way, you think they're let Naruto reproduce? I imagine for custody its usually 3 days at Sakura's and 4 days a week at Sasuke and Naruto's home, but the exact balance may change depending on if Sasuke is away on a mission for the week or not. Kid might also spend a couple days at daycare a week, does Konoha have daycare?

Given Naruto's repeated and consistent characterization as a compassionate person, and the overarching themes at the end of Naruto of acknowledging the ways in which people have been hurt, but breaking free of the cycle of hatred, healing and growing beyond the sins of the past, and the friendships he's cultivated with the bijuu, Naruto would absolutely not allow the jinchuriki system to continue as is, and where better to start than himself. The whole 10-tails arc was about how humans have denied the tailed beasts their person-hood and treated them as weapons, and with the end of the shinobi system treating humans like weapons, it logically extends that the bijuu too should be given dignity. Even before becoming Hokage this becomes Naruto's personal project as he's traveling with Sasuke. (Kurama probably hates Sasuke and isn't that a fun dynamic). I can see Naruto taking an interest in fuuinjutsu, both because Kurama is sealed inside of him and because its a way of connecting with his parents. There's enough bullshit and asspulls in this series so I don't see why Naruto couldn't modify his seal and give Kurama like a fluffy pillow to sleep on or like make a shadow clone and give Kurama free reign.

I am unsure of the timeline but eventually sometime after becoming Hokage, Naruto and the fuuinjutsu specialists find a way of unsealing bijuu without the host dying and they are finally given their freedom and bodily autonomy. After so long with Naruto and the two really cultivating their ride-or-die broship Kurama worries about Naruto now that he has lost Kurama's chakra and abilities, like they can still use all those abilities but Kurama has to be there, so Kurama is worried and sticks around for a while despite Naruto urging him to take advantage of that new freedom. It is a lot of Naruto to adjust to, he no longer has practically limitless chakra so he actually has to learn chakra control and molding something he never had to learn, he can no longer shrug off any injury either so he has to learn to fight in a way that avoids injury another thing he didn't have to worry about before. Naruto's creative and persistent though so he does adjust eventually and Kurama mostly stops worrying that Naruto is going to get himself killed and he does begin exploring his freedom after so long being able to go where he wants to whenever he wants to. Naruto makes it clear Kurama is always welcome with him and so Kurama does come back to visit often as a small mostly normal looking fox.

I'm leaning towards their first kid being a daughter but it's not decided yet. Between Naruto being a trouble magnet and Sasuke and Naruto being just so normal (sarcastic) I imagine their household is chaotic. Their kid is going to grow up to be so chill, like nothing is going to phase them after seeing Naruto catch his hair on fire or seeing their dads use ninjutsu to solve basic problems. Naruto totally uses Kurama as a babysitter when everyone is busy. Sakura and Kurama definitely are the stabilizing elements of this family. A family can be one function adult, two idiots, a baby, and a really weird talking dog that's a god/demon. This kid is going to grow up, go to the academy and realize her family isn't normal like "oh what? you don't ask your talking dog for help with your ninja homework?". In terms of appearance I imagine black hair and dark green eyes. Naruto and Sasuke definitely cry their eyes when their kid is born and many times afterwards too.

Naruto does become Hokage eventually! Timeline wise this would be like last-twenties. Boruto is wrong Naruto would never neglect his kids. When asked if he would chose to protect Konoha even if it meant killing Sasuke or if he would choose to save Sasuke, Naruto responds that he would have both: protect Konoha and save Sasuke. Naruto's going to Hokage and he's going to be a dad if anyone can do it it's him. Its a shame they made Boruto instead of the more interesting idea of following adult Naruto in a workplace drama (Tiger & Bunny did fine). A lot of people do struggle finding a work-life balance, especially for a job that's high pressure or one they're passionate about. But if Naruto has to pull out 3 shadow clones and set up a play area in his office, work and do childcare at the same time, he would. With the custody schedule they have, Naruto is probably really only forced to do this for the couple days that would have been Sasuke's when Sasuke is out on missions. Sasuke acts as the left hand to Shikamaru's right. After Itachi and talking to the previous Hokages Sasuke's pretty driven to overhaul the shinobi system and this time neither himself nor Naruto have to do it alone, they can share in the burden of hate. Sasuke is given the missions that require a high level of skill and power that Naruto would not be able to trust anyone else with, this also means he does still travel quite a bit, but the two are secure in knowing that Sasuke will come home. While in Konoha Sasuke probably sets up shop in Naruto's office, taking care of their child and offering advice and opinions for whatever comes across Naruto's desk. After becoming a father Sasuke also likely begins scaling back his traveling so that most of his time is spent in Konoha. Hanging around the Hokage office this kid is going to be so desensitized about new people.

After their daughter starts primary school/the ninja academy, Naruto and Sasuke would be relieved they aren't tripping over themselves keeping up with a kid anymore but also kind of sad that they don't spend as much time with her anymore and they start thinking about expanding their family again. I also think it'd be cute if at the academy their daughter see's a lot of her classmates have sibling and decides she wants to be a big sister. The world of Naruto has always been vague about its technology level, in some ways its behind the real world and in some ways it's ahead of the real world, really its as advanced as the aesthetics and plot demand. So things not quite possible yet can happen like genetic recombination with two sperm cells though they're probably still need a donor egg cell for the cellular machinery and mitochondrial DNA. The wonders of ninja medicine mean that by the time they're about 35-40 they try for kids again that share both their DNA, Naruto surprisingly ended up being a competent adult. Because its difficult to control the number of embryos that survive multiple are implanted into the surrogate so even if you try for just 1 or 2 you can get more and that's how Sasuke and Naruto end up with triplets. Sasuke's immediate family all have dark hair and eyes so for some of those genes he probably is carry two dominant alleles while Naruto's light hair and eyes would be homozygous recessive, so if this were Mendelian genetics you'd expect all their kids to have dark hair and eyes. However the Naruto series seems to run on fantasy genetics so I can do whatever I want. One would have dark red hair with some of Kushina's genetics showing through and black eyes, the second would have Sasuke's black hair and medium blue eyes, and the last would be a dark blond or light brown hair with gray eyes. Sakura probably isn't the surrogate this time around because she'd be at the height of her career and extremely busy saving lives on a massive scale and one kid was all she wanted. I like the idea that their firstborn awakens their sharingan as they're holding one of the triplets. And I am just now realizing the triplets could naturally awaken the Rinnegan since the Uzumaki clan like the Senju are descended from Asura.

Or maybe they do adopt some kids, the origin of the children do not matter so much as the act and choice of parenthood. Narratively adopting kids would be in line with Hashirama's vision of Konoha and the Will of Fire not being physically hereditary or of any one clan but a cultural heritage of the whole village. As much as Naruto and Sasuke value their contributions to the ninja world they would feel that their greatest feat and the thing they are most proud of is raising their four children. Both of them were disconnected from their family's legacies and traditions during their childhoods, Naruto through the secrecy around Konoha's jinchuriki and Sasuke through the Uchiha Massacre. So raising children and being able to pass on their life lessons, jutsus, clan secrets, and legacies is also a way for and Sasuke and Naruto to rebuild what they lacked in their childhoods.

I haven't been following Naruto news since ... 2014?, so that was interesting to hear. I have all my infos from here.

I mean, I think the article is right, that a Boruto movie is the most likely. I have seen like the first ten episodes of B and read some of the manga, but both when they first came out, so I have no idea what is happening in that sphere. But when comparing the sheer mass of N movies to the one (`?) B movie, it would make sense.

As said, I don't really know anything about B, so I cannot say much about its financial success. Sasuke Retsuden would make sense to me if they needed some extra income from the old fans that have no interest in the new generation.

I don't honestly even know what a remake would entail? I'm assuming it could only be better animation? They can't possibly change the storyline, they'd have to re-synchronize everything. I'm a bit divided in my mind about new animation. I would like to see some scenes news, especially the more "eerie" ones like Tayuya's gen-jutsu. But there are also some jutsus (Kimimaro comes to mind) where better animation might even ruin the effect a bit.

Ngl, these are very pretty and I think makes Naruto very re-watchable. Also if they released it and you could actually buy it in a filler-free boxset. So that would actually be tempting.

My main critique is just, that the Shippuuden animation style makes them look too old. I think it is vital to the story that you understand that these start out the story as 12-13 yos. And - at least to me - the old animation style conveyed that a lot more than the polished one. If I were to look at them without context I'd really think them to be the Shippuuden age (and yes, I also think they look way too old in Shippuuden). And the central horror of Naruto should always be that we are talking about child soldiers. So while I would be very interested in seeing the new animation, I would also always refer newcomers to the old one, because they are lacking that context.

The dream begins in Chapter 677. Sasuke protects himself (Naruto and the other two) with his Susanoo because he doesn't let the moonlight in. Everyone else is already trapped in the Genjutsu. Then Madara is sacrificed by Zetsu and supposedly he is behind everything. What if all this was Madara's plan from the beginning. His supposed sacrifice by Zetsu causes the Main Cast to turn their attention away from Madara. They fight on in their consciousness but in reality they too are already trapped in the illusion. Everything continues as in the manga because the 4 think they are not trapped in an illusion. They don't dissolve the illusion either, they just think they did. So the Boruto arc begins, which makes even less sense. In Chapter 681 Naruto says "Of all things… you people of all things… are not the history of ninjas!!!". I'll take Naruto's word for it. The whole world of ninjas was created by Kaguya? That makes no sense at all.

What I'm thinking/suspecting now (just my thoughts): The illusion lasts until Gaiden, then some character dissolves it (I want to keep this very vague, otherwise I'd have to write down my entire idea). Madara is very weakened by this, will soon disintegrate but wants to come back and complete his mission. But he has to prepare himself and store his Juubi somewhere safe. Who better than a human who becomes a vessel for it. Naruto still has Kurama, so that won't work. Madara realizes that someone else still has large reserves of chakra and wants to seal it in Karin.

Since Sasuke is (in my eyes) the best, smartest and strongest of them all, he wakes up first. He now also realizes that it was all a genjutsu and thinks about everything and realizes that the Juubi must be sealed into someone with large chakra reserves. He thinks of Naruto but then he realizes Naruto already has one. And after much thought, Karin comes into his mind. He gets up and goes to find her, seeing Madara in the process. A sphere has formed, he wants to go to her and somehow he finds himself in Karin's past (which he realizes in the process).

Well, this differs a lot to my own HCs and what I'd do as an alternative ending (I need Neji alive no matter what lol) but it sounds actually interesting, better than what we had from Kishi and SP haha. I wonder if they would do something to prevent Madara from coming back, or if we'll have war 2.0 sometime in the future.

P.S. Kaguya's thing make no sense at all, but I could tolerate it if she wasn't a freaking alien.

-college au. the thing about college au is that it takes a lot of laser focus and i can't work on much else at the same time bc i am trying to rewrite entire plotlines to work in a college setting and i have to try and keep everything together in my head without other work interference. -i have some little thoughts about lemonberry ice family times with the kids that i would like to make into just a fun little fic sometime soon -in terms of 'ones i'd sure like to get around sometime THIS YEAR,' sunny fic is also usually still very close to the surface of Fic Thoughts.

5) what's a fic idea you've had that you'll never write?

this is hard!!! because i want to write all of them!!!!!! i always want to!!!!!!! and even the ones i've said 'oh i won't do that' i've wound up writing lines for here and there, just to have a few things down, like the hamlet thing, my 1957 les girls fic, i've even got some lines for who fic around somewhere but i likely won't ever do more but even that exists, oh BUT

so i'm not writing naruto fic in this the year of our lord 2023 and i wasn't in then the year of our lord 2019 when i was struck by an idea but i will in fact not ever write this. i don't have the energy to naruto anymore. sometimes i wish i did bc i know almost exactly how i'd do this. but i do not. but i am occasionally soooooooooo irritated that no one has written like a...........good, post-og pre-shippuden fic about the genin and their lives after sasuke leaves and naruto goes to train with jiraiya, like just.......some good introspective character shit, not a lot of plot, one of those vibes fics with a nice song lyric title (which, would've been a lyric from one of the best naruto openings, what was it, opening......five? six?? oh it's six!!!! no boy no cry!!!!!!!!!!) with about like, ino being the only member of her team who didn't go after sasuke and having to watch shikamaru and choji come back and CHOJI ALMOST DIED, similarly tenten being the only member of her team who hasn't gone through a life and career threatening injury, i imagine shikamaru has to have nightmares given his emotional state after HIS FIRST MISSION AS A TEAM LEADER WHICH IS, I THINK, INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT AND VERY OVERLOOKED, and like, things about sakura being the only member of her team left in the village now (although i think there's some decent sakura-centric fics out there, but i want, more of all the genin, and them interacting with EACH OTHER) (i've watched a bit of boruto, like the more chill episodes, and the one where sakura says something like, "i just know, the people i was friends with when i was thirteen, they're still my friends now.'" and i think there's a lot overlooked too in the konoha nine/twelve/whatever friendships), just a lot of leaf village life stuff about the trauma these kids have gone through and like.......the ghosts they have to deal with, not just of sasuke but also naruto? even if they've left for different reasons? tsunade probably plays a big part in parts of the fic bc i think tsunade was sorely underused in canon as a character who could've LEGITIMATELY overturned the ninja system. i think the fics that focus on character and trauma and especially life in the leaf village are the most satisfying sort of naruto fic to read, for me. anyway.

mayo, for you i must share my who fic lines, which, i don't think i've posted before?? as it turns out i have three little fic ideas?? the first one was My Very Intense Obsession With Letting Companions PILOT THE GODDAMN TARDIS, particularly rose

teach me how to do it, she does not ask, because he's definitely not going to tell her. the tardis is his, it's his thing, even if it should be their thing, but, so he won't, is what it is, not even if she asked. but she's not going to get stuck like that again, either, sent off with no way to get back to him. 

but rose isn't -- he tells her she's so clever, but it's not in the way it counts, is it? she watched the doctor pilot the tardis for, for however long it was before they were back on station 5, and when it mattered, when she needed to do it, she couldn't. and she should have, should have known which button to press, which lever to pull, which thing did what to get her back to him. she'd watched him do it and she couldn't, because she's not clever, not smart, she can't even pay attention right. fat lot of help she is. 

this is...............i think this is about ten, trying to i guess justify ten falling in love at the drop of a hat and specifically inviting them on the tardis which was occasionally in my humble onion not necessarily great but i could get behind it from this standpoint. it's a little repetitive i think bc i was feeling out the vibes

i think i've said this before. we all know i want a peaks-style ten+tentoo doppelgangery identity confrontation. in, apparently, second person??

Wait Hinata lives alone in Idle Hands? It kinda makes sense cuz I was wondering why he wasn’t sued with a quickness. My ass would’ve been sued if it was my child being dragged by the ponytail in school or wait for him outside😭(Where is it taking place tho? Who’s paying her bills? Does she work?)

I’m pretty sure Hinata would do it again too despite being dragged across the table. She always has a comeback for Naruto and I love it. I’m still laughing at the moaning one. She got him real good. I love her wittiness in here and Sasuke just laughing at Naruto. Can’t wait to see where you’ll go with this fic!

Oh, apologies if the placement of seating wasn't clear, but Hinata wasn't the one that Naruto harmed. Just some girl that sits in front of him. I think that particular insult is actually too strong for Hinata. 🤔 I'll be sure to show her witty side more in the future. 🤭

Hinata is one row up and three seats over from the window, at least that's roughly where I envision her. About center of the room. Admittedly, I didn't bother to make a seating chart. 🫣 I also wasn't sure if that was a needed detail at the time. 🤔 Also Hinata has cropped hair, the side strands of her hime-cut are a little past cheek length instead of past her jaw.

I'll be sure to double-check if I wrote that part in an unclear way. 😅 I do also want Hinata to reflect on him harming a girl since it kind of shows that it could happen to her too if she isn't careful.

Hinata's family moved to Konoha, which is always an analogue for Tokyo in my AUs. (You can also envision it being like Konoha in the Boruto era or a mishmash of the two.) Hinata stayed behind because living with her father is claustrophobic. Her mother is paying for her living situation through a shared bank account and monthly allowance. I sort of have this (possibly weird and unfounded) idea that she sends her brand name bags to store away and hold onto until graduation. The value of them is enough to pay for her college tuition. And her mother does this because Hiashi will no longer support his daughter and any amount beyond the minimum agreement is simply not allowed.

So her mom pays for everything. As for where it takes place, they're in some mountainous valley podunk town in the Southern Peninsula. Not sure if the souther peninsula is canonically mountainous, but here it is lol. And the rocky shore facing the ocean adjacent to the Land of Waves is on the other side of the southernmost mountain ridge. Lotta cliffjumping done there. If you wanna go to the beach, the Kiri half of the peninsula is swell.

I haven't settled yet on Hinata working, because I keep changing where I want her to be. 🤔 I had a fun scene idea where she worked at the Costco when she was 14-ish, but was scapegoated/fire for Naruto's recklessness because she kept following him around trying to stop him and the adults just assumed they were friends.

I thought that if she worked there and got fired, then she must be working at a bookstore because it's the last place he'd ever show up. 🤭
