Feng Xin just stares at Mu Qing for a moment, his lips parted and his hand paused uselessly in the air from where he was using it to prop his chin as he tries to piece together what the hell just happened.

"You—" Mu Qing starts, pointing an accusing finger at Feng Xin that he immediately retracts.

He holds his hand to his chest, like he's cradling a wound, and breathes heavily through his nose. His face is growing redder by the second, a deep blush spreading all the way to his ears and down his neck. His eyes are wild as they nervously flit around, looking away from Feng Xin but always coming back to him, like they can't seem to help it.

Mu Qing opens and closes his mouth several times until he finally tries to speak again, his voice quieter and somehow lacking its typical aloof confidence.

"Y-you asked," he says helplessly.

Feng Xin is at a complete loss. His surprised eyebrows dip back into their natural, furrowed state and his hand finds a purpose again, gently touching the cheek where Mu Qing—where Mu Qing just—

Mu Qing makes a strangled noise and snaps his mouth shut, pursing his lips. He quickly tucks his hands back into his sleeves and turns his head as if he's preparing to leave. He does no such thing. Instead, he stands perfectly still. Feng Xin is still laying prone on the ground, transfixed by the movement of Mu Qing's slender, pale throat as he swallows.

"Mu Qing, you—"

"I know!"

"You k—"

"You don't need to say it!"

"You kissed me!"

"Fuck!"

Mu Qing turns with a dramatic sway of his robes and is gone before Feng Xin has the sense to go after him.

"Do you have something you've always wanted to do to me during one of our sparring sessions but have never been able to incorporate?" Feng Xin had asked.

"Yes," was Mu Qing's immediate reply.

Excited, Feng Xin had turned to face Mu Qing from where they lay side by side recovering from their seventh spar of the evening—just more to go before they call it quits.

He was grinning from ear to ear and had simply said, "What is it?"

A kiss on the cheek.

Mu Qing kissed him on the cheek.

Feng Xin's fingertips brush the spot on his cheek that is still warm and tingly from Mu Qing's touch.

The southern sun has never burned this hot in his life.

Without wasting another moment, Feng Xin scrambles to his feet and sprints after Mu Qing.

He has a score to settle and another spar to win.

was feeling anxious about the speed at which hrt is transforming my wretched thing so i took a week off and halved my dose and immediately felt so much better, even about the changes i previously was like "hm this is a bit much". i even am starting to enjoy those things, i just think i want to settle into them instead of getting dunk tank'd. i love to remember that this is my body and i can do whatever i want with it which includes taking hrt and also includes not taking hrt or taking different amounts of hrt at different times. the body is not a boolean and im the boss

I was going to have rye maaaybe start to buy into solas' whole johnny silverhand deal a little bit more in the post-weisshaupt talk -- to Progress the Arc tm/set up the beginning softening in that relationship and heighten the effect when it eventually goes. quite another way entirely -- but the sheer spectacular cruelty in hindsight of 'at least you still have varric to talk to' is such that considering where I'm intending to end up with this narratively, the stoic 'not here to make friends you fucker gimme your intel' option is simply irresistible. gotta have that echo rattling around rye's head forever when he decides that you know what? I have had enough of being nice, actually. I do want to go ape shit. someone hold my coat for me please I have some work to do and I don't want to stain it. guess for now the ol' watcher training & instincts are still kicking in enough for them to treat solas like a tricky spirit you should treat with respect and good intentions, but also shouldn't be out there offering little fingers to unless you have a whole arm lying around to spare haha
