The tree in the living room was the first thing you saw when you opened your eyes. In your tiredness, all the colorful lights were out of focus and created a mesh of blob colors. It was pretty, in the way that abstract art flows together.

"We really should take that down." Wilbur says from behind you, and you realize that the general warmth around you is him. The arm over your waist, holding you to him and the couch? Him.

"We can leave it up." You answer, yawning. "I like it."

"It's not Christmastime anymore, love." He smiles into your shoulder, making you smile too.

Something about him generates happiness. In your hazy vision, spotted with colorful christmas lights, you can't imagine anything better.

"So? This is our flat."

He laughs. "Point taken."

We could let our friends crash in the living room This is our place, we make the call.

"You're fine, right?" You ask Tommy, giving him a pointed look.

For once in his life, the boy knows how to be subtle and nods. "Yeah, yeah, I'm great."

"We have more blankets if you want them!" Wilbur announces, strolling in with his arms full of blankets. He dumps them all on top of Tommy, eyebrows creased with worry. "You sure you don't mind staying on the couch?"

He nods, rolling his eyes. "I used to sleep on your floor, Wil."

"That was different! And I gave you an air mattress that time!"

"Which is practically the floor. I'm a big man, I can take the fucking couch."

Wilbur turns to you, as if you'll take his side. You may be dating him, but that doesn't mean you're agreeing with him.

"He'll be fine, Wilbur." You assure him.

Tommy was only staying for the night, anyway. One of his vlogs ran late, leaving him here way after dark. And Wilbur wouldn't stand for letting him head home at this time of night. Honestly, you found their brother thing endearing. And it made Wilbur happy, which made you happy.

Besides, Tommy was a good kid. A nightmare at times, but good in heart. Mostly.

Wilbur gives a regretful look at your couch (which is actually pretty nice) before sighing. "Fine, fine. We'll be just down the hall if something happens, so just... wake us. Yeah?"

"Wilbur!" Tommy groans. "Fuck off! I can sleep on your couch!"

"I know! I'm just making sure!"

"Go fucking cuddle or something." Tommy huffs, settling under all the blankets and turning his back to Wilbur.

You laugh softly, flicking off the lights. "C'mon love. Good night, Tommy."

"Night." Wilbur echoes your words, wrapping his arm around your shoulders and guiding you so you don't run into a wall on your way to the bedroom. "He'll be fine, right?"

"Of course he will." You say, leaning up to give him a quick kiss. "Now it's our turn to get some rest. Go do your night routine, or whatever."

"Will do." Wilbur agrees, quietly heading off toward the bathroom.

With every guitar string scar on my hand I take this magnetic force of a man to be my lover.

You ran your thumb over the inside of his palm, prompting Wilbur to squeeze your fingers in return. The callouses on his fingers are rough against your skin, but you don't mind. They're testaments to his love for music, to his commitment to it.

You love them simply because they're a part of him.

"I promised to teach you guitar one day." Wilbur reminds you, voice soft.

"And I still want to learn." You assure him, a smile gracing your face. "Maybe one day I'll get callouses like yours." You add in as a tease.

"No guitar string scars though." He raises your hand to his lips, pressing a kiss to your fingertips. It makes you laugh. "I'll teach you how to play guitar safely."

"What, and you don't play safely?"

He nudges you, because you know the answer to that. You've seen too many broken picks and snapped guitar strings. There's a faint scar on his palm where a snapped string cut him, even.

"You'll be so bad at guitar." Wilbur says with a grin. "I can't wait to love you for it."

"Hey!"

Swear to be overdramatic and true to my lover.

"I'm dying." Wilbur announces, draping himself over the back of your chair dramatically. "I've been shot. I'm dying."

You can't help but roll your eyes, laughing. "Wil, it was a Nerf dart."

"Tell my friends and family I love them." He wails, squeezing onto your hand. "I'll miss you."

"You aren't dying."

"Oh goodbye world! I yearn to feel the sun upon my face, but alas, I die in the cold night!"

"Oh Wilbur!" Tommy crows, darting around a corner with a raised Nerf gun.

Wilbur shouts, hands going for his own Nerf gun, finding nothing. In response, Tommy's smile widens into something evil as he holds up a second Nerf gun.

"Who's the bitch boy?" He asks, eyes wide with delight.

You burst into loud laughter as Wilbur runs from the room, sliding on the wooden floors in his socks.

And at every table, I'll save you a seat, lover.

Hand on the back of the chair, Wilbur pulls it away from the cloth-covered table for you. You can’t help your grateful smile, sinking into it without a second thought. The wedding you two were at was busy, and you had been on your feet for literal hours. He was a godsend at this moment, and judging by his grin he knew it.

“Water?” You ask, holding up a bottle of water for him. You had originally left his side to grab some, knowing he was thirsty but wouldn’t ask for a water.

“Thank you.” Wilbur says, taking it from you. He presses a kiss to your head before pushing in your chair and sitting down at the one next to you, which has his suit jacket thrown over the back. “Almost payment enough for saving your chair?”

“Almost?” The laugh you let out isn’t dignified in the slightest, but his eyes sparkle like it’s the best sound he’s ever heard.

“I had to fight a guy off with my fists to keep it.”

“Bullshit.”

���You’ll never know if it is or isn’t.” He teases, taking a sip of the water. “But I deserve better payment.”

With a roll of your eyes, you lean forward to give him a quick peck on the lips. He cups your cheek, catching your face before you can pull away, just to prolong the kiss for a moment more before he lets go.

“Happy?” You ask, raising your eyebrows.

“The happiest.”

Today's (1/6/2025) Episode: Changes and Chances

After dropping a much healthier Meelee back at home Noemi and Skye ended up turning right back around to go visit Skye’s doctor.

As soon as they arrived Skye’s pretty blue soft cast was removed and replaced with a brand-new one in a much less appealing shade of brown. “This can happen sometimes, either due to swelling or if the cast was just a little too snug to begin with” the doctor explained “It’s good you came in when you did. Since your surgery is so soon, you’re unlikely to have any more issues before then, but if you do let us know if you see or feel anything worrying.”

Skye nodded “I will, I promise.”

“I wish they hadn’t had to remove my nail polish.” Skye said to xir mom as they headed out.

“I’m sorry about that.” Noemi replied “but you understand why they did, right? The doctor said that changes to the color of your nailbed are one of the earliest indicators of circulation issues. We’ll buy you some polish, and you can paint them again as soon as they tell us its safe.”

Just then her phone pinged a couple times  with messages from her loving husband, although these were invitations to go shopping, not on a date.

“Hey – that was your dad.” Noemi motioned for Skye to take a seat in the waiting room. “How do you feel about a trip downtown?”

 “Mr. Peppino invited us to the flea market to help him pick out some décor for a new paternity satellite clinic he’s opening in Selvadorada. It could be fun. Get out of the house, try some new food, maybe find something to brighten up your room?” She gave xem an encouraging smile.

“Can I invite Elyse?” Skye asked. Xe enjoyed going on trips with xir folks, but it would be so much better with xir favorite sim there too.

Noemi frowned slightly but nodded “Sure. You know, I’d love to hear more about what happened at the game last night. You two got in so late we didn’t get a chance to chat. Did you have fun?”

Skye found xemself grinning at the memory of the previous evening “It was wonderful mom. Foxbury won the game, I got a great interview with Coach Silva, and… well… Elyse and I kissed.” Xe blushed deeply. “I want to ask her to be my girlfriend, but… do you think she’d actually say yes?”

“I don’t know” Noemi answered “the only person who can answer that is Elyse. Is everything OK with you two, does she truly accept you? I really don’t want to see you get hurt again.”

“Its fine mom, I promise” Skye smiled “she explained that she was just confused and surprised that night, but she said she’ll use my new pronouns, and she said she likes me – do you think she means she like likes me? She seemed happy during our date, and she wanted me to kiss her.”

“Well that all sounds very promising” Noemi forced a smile, still worried but determined to be supportive “why don’t you give her a call, see if she wants to join us, and then play the rest by ear? I think you’ll know when the time is right to take that next step.”

With that Skye pulled out xir phone to text Elyse about their upcoming adventure in the city with xir folks.

Skye’s storyline here was the result of an annoying in-game issue and is based on my own personal experience.

For some reason I could change the color of xir cc cast in CAS but it randomly stopped reflecting the blue color. I didn’t want to wipe the buff, and I didn’t think it made sense for xem to have surgery on the weekend, so I did this instead. I still find that it wants to randomly change colors sometimes so forgive me if its various shades of brown at different times; I decided to just live with that 😣

What I describe happening to Skye actually happened to me when I was wearing a hard cast on my arm (and I verified it can also happen with soft casts). It got uncomfortably tight after about a week and had to be replaced. OF COURSE it happened almost immediately after I’d gotten a bunch of signatures that I was too embarrassed to ask anyone to redo😭 but it had to be done!

I’m so glad you summoned us to your ask box bc I agree that watching cooking crush is so lonely. I am constantly lurking in the tag and its so depressing compared to the energy ‘not me’ got every sunday. I am so happy that offgun are doing a romcom. I know that you like angsty offgun but I desperately needed an offgun show that is lighthearted and cc is serving. Gun is shining in this show and I love that he lives with his grandma and sister. I have always found that Gun bounces off of actresses really well, especially older women, and he makes dynamics with them seem really natural and comforting. And holy moly is Off Jumpol blessing my eyeballs. I find myself swooning every time he comes on screen and this character feels so soft. I love how gentle Ten is with Prem. The way he quietly accepted that Prem was willing to teach him despite Prem screwing with him earlier in the episode. And then reassuring Prem that he is a good cook. Ugh I am so living for this dynamic and can’t wait to see what offgun do with it further.

But gmmtv and I will have words about them not releasing the full versions on youtube. Like what more can they do to inhibit offgun?

yeah to be fair I never expected the fandom experience for cc to be anywhere near not me bc that kind of collective watching experience can never be matched, but I'm glad many people have taken up my open call to discuss cooking crush lol bc it was getting lonely!

honestly, while I do love my angst & deeper topics, I've been glad that cooking crush is a silly romcom since the first trailer dropped. as I said in my gmmtv 2022 reaction video, I think we do need a breather after how intense & life-changing not me was, and also offgun are just SO GOOD at romcoms bruh, it's the perfect genre for them (even though they've slayed every genre they've been in too!) also I have this theory that cooking crush was chosen for offgun specifically to bring them back to their "bankable" image that they lost due to not me being too political & half of the entertainment kinda blacklisting them, which while not me being censored is bullshit, I am glad that it's not gonna affect offgun's careers long term & they're now back to getting more events & ads together!

you're so right about gun bouncing off actresses & especially older ones very well, I 100% agree! prem's ama is my fave I love her, she's such a good supportive force in prem's life :))) as for ten being super gentle & soft, YES!!! I was told before the show aired that novel!ten is like the softest man in existence, yet off still managed to exceed my expectations! especially after sean who was his roughest character to date hahaha! ten just feels like a big teddy bear, every time he appears on screen I wanna squish his cheeks 🥺 ten is really as forgiving as sean was hahaha, whoops I think I found another favorite character! the tenprem dynamic is literal perfection, though. they match each other so well I think I might pass away once they get together 😭

gmmtv is so fucking weird, like they still stand behind offgun & give them shows & fanmeets, etc. but at the same time they often do a terrible job promoting them. here what upsets me the most is that gmmtv actually was promoting cooking crush pretty damn well, but they set up cooking crush with their contract with wetv. it's nice that wetv seems to have given cc a lot of funds, which is why it was their headlining thai show of the year at their event in september, but I think in exchange they refused to have gmmtv post the full uncut eps to make it a wetv exclusive, which is bullshit. while gmmtv couldn't do much against it, they couldn't have discussed other ways, like they've done for other shows. it just really sucks bc the uncut version is the only great way to watch the show, but I wanna support the show on gmmtv's channel too :(

I feel like things have been NUTS in this fandom recently, and tbh I can’t be bothered to engage as much as I used to bc of everything else going on in my life. BUT I did see a post where an anti claimed that because Bryce and hunt “chose to be mates”, Elain will OBVIOUSLY choose Azriel. And that’s just “common sense”.

It tickled me, especially since I don’t think their Quinlar claim regarding choice is as valid as they believe it to be. But I did find it humorous that this is what they took from Quinlar to be proof or indication of E/riel. When Quinlar has all the mating code of SJM’s other mated pairs. But especially the two instances that mimic Gwynriel’s code from the Azriel bonus.

Like I’m sorry but op wrote this long ass post about Quinlar’s “choice” = Elriel but ignored the glowing within Bryce’s chest when Hunt first kissed her in CC & in their additional bonus which matches Azriel’s thoughts of Gwyn. That’s fucking hilarious.

Anyways, wanted to share bc I think you’ll find it funny to��😭

How are things in your life? I'm hoping that if they've been stressful, you've had the chance to find ways to relax and unwind especially outside the fandom because this is definitely not the place for that 😂😂😂. I look forward to the day we have answers so things can settle by at least a few degrees. Do you have any fun summer trips planned or have you taken any so far? There are so many things off about the Quinlar = E/riel take. First, it's odd when they try to compare a "chosen" mating bond set in a modern world between a half fae / fallen angel (with unknown lineage) and use it as evidence of Elain breaking her fae mating bond and choosing Az instead. They aren't close to being the same thing. First, Quinlar didn't choose one another while sharing a powerful bond with another. Hunt previously loved Shahar and chose to be with her yet she still wasn't his mate (choice or not). He didn't walk away from a magical force with her only to eventually end up with Bryce. Also, we don't know if it was truly a choice between Quinlar because would the same things have happened had Hunt ever called Shahar his mate? Would their scents have merged and would Hunt have gone into a rage? Or were Hunt and Bryce always destined to be the only ones who could share in a mating bond together? Sure they could have dated other people and maybe been happy but we don't know if they would share mate coding with those people and been as happy and powerful as they are together. We don't know enough about the bonds in CC to know whether it was ever really a completely random choice between them or whether destiny played a part in their ending up together. But really, the main take away is that SJM could have just had Bryce and Hunt choose to be together as partners then left it at that but instead they STILL ended up as mates with mate coded language like you pointed out 😂 They are still the ONLY mates each has known. In the SJM world whether you are given a Cauldron blessed mate or a chosen mate a character still seems to end up with the only mate they've ever known. If that doesn't tell you that SJM prefers mates above all else then I'm not sure what will. Once mate is thrown into the equation, that's the ultimate for her. Even her poorly matched mating bond pairings still chose one another, i.e. Rhys's parents. It's not even apples to oranges at this point, it's like leafy sea dragons to apples 😂

Final Ramble: I've been craving some Shirlulu slow burn fics that are multichapter (with a happy ending) or without the slowburn (like they literally dated and she admitted she loved Lulu in canon so that's fine too) but still multichaptered, happy ending. Got any recs? I just want something that focuses on their romance that isn't a freaking oneshot! I'll take both angst and lighthearted, preferably angst. No sad ending tho or ill kms😭 I feel too hopeless when I look at your posts about them.

Anon, I feel you so much! 😭 I don't think I've ever found one in all of my years in the LuluShir fandom, all I have are oneshots too. We got the short end of the stick in canon (tragic, downplayed romance) and in fanon since the other ships got all the traction.

My 2012-self started what would've been a huge multichaptered R2 fix-it AU involving:

Shirley miraculously surviving (Lelouch was so distraught that he didn't notice her heart hadn't stopped, Suzaku finds her after he leaves and rushes her to the hospital desperately hoping she won't be Euphie all over again).

Suzaku figuring out that Shirley must have regained her memories and not knowing whether Lelouch was the one who shot her or not, so he sets up Anti-Geass guards at Shirley's room door. Lelouch knowing Rollo did it and he could come back to finish the job if he were to find out Shirley survived, so Suzaku's actions work to his advantage and he Geasses the guards into reporting to him.

Milly calling Lelouch who can barely bring himself to listen to her voicemail, expecting her to tell him about Shirley's funeral, only to find out Shirley actually survived.

Emotional LuluShir reunion where Lelouch sneaks in into her room at night, thinking she'd be asleep, just needing to actually see her alive, but of course Shirley wakes up. Lelouch feels guilty for being there at all, knowing that he is the reason Shirley's always in danger, and Shirley tries to make him understand that he needs to let her choose for herself this time. Lelouch refuses to take the risk of losing her again though, so he doesn't take her with him. He soothes her by telling her the best help she can give him is staying safe. So, Shirley makes him promise that he'll stay safe, too.

Suzaku deciding to take Shirley with him and Nunnally to keep her safe from Geass users. However, he is warned that the Emperor would see Shirley as a nuisance if he were to know that she has her memories back, so Shirley and Nunnally have to pretend not to know each other.

Eventually the Emperor finds out and before they can get rid of Shirley, Suzaku decides to ship her off to the Black Knights, by then trusting that Lelouch would do what it takes to keep her safe.

I had it all planned-out all the way to the end, and the focus would stay on Shirley/Lelouch/Suzaku and to a lesser extent, Nunnally and CC all the way through. The ending would involve a time-skip where Zero went MIA after defeating the emperor and Shirley became the swimming teacher at their school, and they would reunite at the last scene.

But I got 14k words in and dropped it, I can't remember why 😭 I definitely wish I had written it though! I'm not sure the writing would've been of very good quality but at least it would've been there 😔
