KNOWING YOUR PARTNER WELL CAN POTENTIALLY MAKE WRITING TOGETHER A LOT EASIER.
Name: Mal / Puppy
Pronouns:Ā She/They
Preference of communication: Tumblr DMS are fine, but Discord will almost always net you a response!!
Name of muse(s): Aerith, for one! My sweet, sweet girl! I also have Cid (@bigbrawl) and now Zack (@chaiinslash) / I do technically have a Cloud (@strifebound) but my muse for him is ... very fickle lately.
Experience/how long (months/years?): I started roleplaying when I was like. 10. Or something, I dunno. So, like, 17 years? Help.
Platforms youā€™ve used:Ā (CLEARS THROAT) GaiaOnline, various forums that are probably now defunct, Skype, AIM / MSN / Yahoo Messenger, Discord, FUCKINā€™ EMAILS.
Pet peeves / dealbreakers:Ā Losing contact with an RP partner is always exhausting; especially if they decided suddenly that Iā€™m not interesting or replying fast enough? I admit I can be a bit in and out at times - but so ADHD goes - though I think most of all, someone who doesnā€™t know how to drive a scene will absolutely drive me up the wall. If Iā€™m the person single-handedly carrying the plot of a thread because the other person isnā€™t so great at making use of hooks or leads ... chances are I might give up on that thread lol.
Fluff, angst, or smut:Ā I write a bit of everything! Itā€™s all fun to me! Though admittedly, Iā€™m a bit of a hurt/comfort slut. I donā€™t really like writing smut without purpose most of the time - the only person whoā€™d get that out of me is probably my bff @/lovelornverse ... BUT IF ITS THEMATICALLY IMPORTANT AND SERVES A PURPOSE you bet Iā€™m down for writing a lil smut.
Plots or memes:Ā Either or! Why not both? Bonus points if memes turn into plots. Or plots are used for memes.Ā
Long or short replies: I can get overly long with my writing. I just have a lot of thoughts. But ultimately I will match whatever Iā€™m given, barring circumstances where I feel like I have a lot to get out. And nobody EVER has to feel like they need to match with me. I just ramble.
Best time to write:Ā When the ADHD releases its grip on me and lets me write the words.
Are you like your muse(s):Ā Short answer, yes. I have a lot of little things that make me similar to the ones I write - though I wonā€™t be so full of myself as to presume them, I just feel like I relate pretty well to certain facets of the charactes I write ... otherwise, I wouldnā€™t like them so much.

FilAms referring to the Philippines as the acronym PI while they are calling homelanders for the use of Filipinx and Pinxy is peak irony. That is without adding these two facts: the letter F is a loaned letter in Tagalog from the oppressors (and its corresponding phoneme too) and that the demonym is an appellation to Felipe II of Spain. And for someone like me who reads and writes in Baybayin since age 15, to write a Baybayin X seems like a dark humor scene in a Taika Waititi comedy. (Yes, I do Baybayin shiz for fun, but not as serious as Kristian Kabuay and NordenX.)
I first encountered PI among FilAms during Christmas vacation 2002 in LA; and Pilipinx when I joined the theatrical production of a FilAm musical at CalState East Bay in 2016. I understand that it is their culture and I respect it, and I assimilate. I easily assimilate with what I call my Nickelodeon voice, which I have acquired from when jailbroken cable services became a thing in Mega Manila and through my theatre background. But when in Rome, we live the Roman way, so as the Santa Mesa-born foreigner, I have to hide that dark laughter every single time someone uses PI.
But of course, 2020 had to make us see PI-using FilAms pressuring homelander to use Filipinx, citing political correctness and gender neutrality (while white American Pemberton, the killer of Filipino transwoman Jennifer Laude, was given an absolute pardon by Duterte).
So, let us start my TEDtalk.
P.I. is a colloquial acronym for Putanginamo (the equivalent of Fuck You) used by conservative Filipinos who probably are only retelling a story.
Tsismosa 1: ā€œMinura ni Aling Biring si Ka Boying.ā€ (Aling Biring cursed Ka Boying)
Tsismosa 2: ā€œOh? Ano ika?ā€ (Really? What did she say?)
Tsismosa 1: ā€œMalutong at umaatikabong PI.ā€ (A hard and surging PI.)
Then I imagine PI as the curse when FilAms say some sentences:
ā€œAre you flying back to Putangina?ā€
ā€œI miss Putangina. We went to Boracay.ā€
ā€œDuterte is President of Putangina.ā€
But itā€™s fine with me. I understand they mean well and I know that Americans, as first world as they are, have poor grasp of history. Itā€™s a little sad though that FilAms have not always been reminded of this special footnote in the history of the United States:
P.I. stands for Philippine Islands. Thatā€™s the colonial name of the Philippines as a commonwealth republic under the United States, which the republic stopped using when the 1935 Constitution was enacted in 1946. Yes, in case people are forgetting, the Philippines has long been a state with full sovereignty recognized by the United Nations (of which we are a founding member of and wherein Carlos Romulo served as President) and recognized by Shaider Pulis Pangkalawakan.
Also, RP is used to refer to the Republic of the Philippines before the use of the standard two-letter country code PH.
Iā€™m not saying FilAms should stop using PI to refer to the Philippines but Iā€™m saying that the roots of that practice is from American oppression that homelanders have already cancelledttt.
Our oldest bank in the Philippines is BPI. It stands for Bank of the Philippine Islands, originally named El Banco EspaƱol Filipino de Isabel II because it was founded during Queen Isabella IIā€™s reign. It was a public bank by then; perhaps comparable to the Federal Reserve. Upon its privatization during the American occupation, the bank started using BPI for the sake of branding because it was the Americans who christened us with P.I. (I have a theory that Manila was a character in Money Heist because the Royal Mint of Spain used to have a branch in the Philippines and operated very closely with BPI. And my other supernatural theory is that our translation of peso which is ā€˜pisoā€™ affects our economy. ā€˜Pisoā€™ means ā€˜floorā€™ or ā€˜flatā€™ in Spanish.)
Now, going back. To me, P.I. is more appropriate an acronym for the ethnic group of Pacific Islanders. I don't think I need to explain further why. These would be the natives of Hawaiā€™i, Guam, Tuvalu, Kiribati, and other islands in the Oceania continent, and maybe even New Zealand. If a curious FilAm raises a question of whether Filipinos are Pacific Islanders or Asians or Hispanics, the answer is long but easy to understand.
The Filipinos live in a group of islands within the Pacific Plate. The Philippines is an Asian country, following conventions of geopolitical continental borders from the other. We are Hispanics by virtue of being under Spain for three fucking centuries. And Teresita Marquez is Reina Hispanoamericana because why not? (We couldā€™ve been a part of America still if not for the efforts of Quezon.) So, the quick answer is that the Filipino is all of it.
Yes, the Filipinos have an affinity with the Pacific through nature and geography. Think of the earthquakes, volcanoes, flora and fauna, and the coconuts. And they even look like us. The earlier inhabitants of the archipelago were Pacific Islanders who were introduced to Hinduism and Buddhism as being closer to the cradles of civilization India and China. Then, the Islamic faith has grown along with the rise of the kingdoms and polities in Southeast Asia. The Spaniards arrived in the archipelago, to an already civilized Islamic polity - too civilized that they understood how diplomacy is necessary in war. We knew that it resulted to the defeat and death of Magellan who was fighting for Rajah ā€˜Don Carlosā€™ Humabon. Then came the 333 years of being under Spain AND (sic) the Catholic Church which made us more Hispanic. Our Austronesian/Malayo-Polynesian languages (Tagalog, Bisaya, Kapampangan, Ilocano, Bikol, Waray, Cuyonon, etc.) have kept our Asian identity intact - unlike Latin American countries where the official language of each is one of the Romance languages; thus "Latin".
(It is only towards the end of that 333-year Spanish rule that the 'Filipino' emerged to be something the oppressed could claim, and for that we thank the poet in Jose Rizal. I see a parallel in how Christians claimed the cross, the former symbol of criminals in Jewish tradition, to become the symbol of Godā€™s love and salvation through Jesus. Wow. Thatā€™s so UST of me. Lol.)
You add into the mix that our diaspora is so large and identifiable, the data gatherers decided to mark the tables with ā€œFilipinoā€ - too Asian to be Hispanic and Pacific, too Pacific to be Hispanic and Asian, and too Hispanic to be Asian and Pacific.
What many FilAms do not realize everyday is that unlike the words Blacks, Latinx, Asians, or Pacific Islanders, or Hispanics, the word Filipino is not just a word denoting an ethnic group. At its highest technical form, the word Filipino is a word for the citizenship of a sovereign nation, enshrined in the constitution of a free people whose history hinges on the first constitutional republic in Asia.
By state, we mean a sovereign nation and not a federal state. (Well, even with Chinese intervention, at the very least we try.)
By state, we mean we are a people with a national territory, a government, and a legal system inspired by the traditions of our ancestors and oppressors. It may be ugly, but it is ours, and we have the power to change it.
This one may be as confusing as Greek-Grecian-Greco-Hellenic-Hellene, but letā€™s examine the word 'Filipino' further when placed side by side with related words.
*Pilipinas is the country; official name: Republika ng Pilipinas. It is translated into English as ā€œPhilippinesā€; official name: Republic of the Philippines. Spanish translates it into ā€œFilipinasā€, the Germans ā€œPhilippinenā€, the French ā€œLes Philippinesā€, the Italians ā€œFilippineā€.
*Pilipino refers to the people. It is translated into English as Filipino. The plural forms are ā€˜mga Pilipinoā€™ and ā€˜Filipinosā€™.
*Philippine is an English adjective relating to the Philippines, commonly used for official functions. It may be used as an alternative to the other western adjective ā€˜Filipinoā€™ but the interchangeability is very, very nuanced. Filipino people not Philippine people. Filipino government and Philippine government. Philippine Embassy, Filipino embassy, not Filipino Embassy. Tricky, eh?
*Filipino also refers to the official language of the state (which is basically Tagalog).
*Filipiniana refers to Philippine-related books and non-book materials (cultural items, games, fashion, etc.) which could be produced by Filipinos or non-Filipinos, inside or outside the Philippines.
*Pinoy is a colloquial gender-neutral demonym; comparable to how New Zealanders use the word Kiwi.
The demonym Filipino has evolved from that of referring only to Spaniards in the Philippines into becoming the term for the native people who choose to embrace the identity of a national.
It started from when Jose Rizal wrote his poem ā€œA la juventud filipinaā€ and he emerged as an inspiration to the Philippine Revolution through Andres Bonifacioā€™s leadership. (But take note of ā€˜filipinaā€™ because ā€˜juventudā€™ is a feminine word in Spanish.)
Today, no less than the 1987 Philippine Constitution, which was neither written by Hamilton nor a group of straight white men but by people of different faiths, genders, disabilities, and skin colors, in its first five words in both Filipino and English versions read: "Kami, ang nakapangyayaring sambayanang Pilipino", translated as "We, the sovereign Filipino peopleā€ validates the legitimacy of the word as gender-neutral, alive, aware and awake with our history of struggles.
Article 14 Section 7 of the current Constitution says Filipino is the national language. And while I agree that it is not really a real language but an alias for Tagalog, it is a conscientious codification of a social norm during the time of Manuel Quezon as he is aiming for the world to recognize the unified Filipinos as a sovereign people. People. Not men. Not heterosexual men. People.
It is a non-issue for the homeland Filipino that the word Filipino refers to the people and the language. But FilAms are concerned of political correctness due to an understandable cultural insecurity also felt by other non-whites in the US. And there is added confusion when FilAms pattern the word Filipino after the patriarchal Spanish language, without learning that the core of the grammars of Philippine languages are gender-neutral. The Tagalog pronoun "siya" has no gender. "Aba Ginoong Maria" is proof that the Tagalog word 'ginoo' originally has no gender. Our language is so high-context that we have a fundamental preposition: ā€œsaā€.
It is difficult to be a person of color in the United States especially in these times of the white supremacyā€™s galling resurgence. Well, itā€™s not like they have been gone, but this time, with Trump, especially, itā€™s like the movement took steroids and was given an advertising budget. But for FilAms to force Filipinx into the Philippines, among homeland Filipinos, is a rather uneducated move, insensitive of the legacies of our national heroes and magnificent leaders.
The FilAm culture and the Filipino homeland culture are super different, nuanced. Itā€™s a different dynamic for a Latinx who speak Spanish or Portuguese or whatever their native language is - it reminds entitled white English-speaking America of their place in the continent. It should remind a racist white man whose roots hail from Denmark that his house in Los Angeles stands on what used to be the Mexican Empire.
Letā€™s use a specific cultural experience by a Black person for example: the black person not only has Smith or Johnson for their last name, but there is no single easy way for them to retrieve their family tree denoting which African country they were from, unless the Slave Trade has data as meticulous as the SALN forms. Letā€™s use a specific cultural experience by a Mexican-American with Native American heritage: the person is discriminated by a white US Border Patrol officer in the border of Texas. Texas used to be part of Mexico. Filipinos have a traceable lineage and a homeland.
Filipinos and FilAms may be enjoying the same food recipes, dancing the same cultural dance for purposes of presentations every once in a while, but the living conditions, the geography, the languages, social experiences, the human conditions are different, making the psychology, the politics, the social implications more disparate than Latinxs like Mexicans and Mexican Americans.
I donā€™t know if it is too much advertising from state instruments or from whatever but FilAms donā€™t realize how insensitive they have become in trying to shove a cultural tone down the throats of the citizens of the republic or of those who have closer affinity to it. And some Filipino homelanders who are very used to accommodating new global social trends without much sifting fall into the trap of misplaced passions.
To each his own, I guess. But FilAms should read Jose Rizalā€™s two novels, Carlos Romuloā€™s ā€œI am a Filipinoā€, materials by Miriam Defensor Santiago (not just the humor books), speeches of Claro Recto, books by historians Gregorio Zaide, Teodoro Agoncillo, Renato Constantino, Nick Joaquin, Regalado Trota Jose, Fidel Villaroel, Zeus Salazar, Xiao Chua, and Ambeth Ocampo, and really immerse themselves in the struggle of the Filipino for an unidentifiable identity which the FilAms confuse for the FilAm culture. Thatā€™s a little weird because unlike Blacks and the Latinx movement, the Philippines is a real sovereign state which FilAms could hinge their history from.
I have to be honest. The homelanders donā€™t really care much about FilAm civil rights heroes Philip Vera Cruz and Larry Itliong, or even Alice PeƱa Bulos, because it was a different fight. But the media can play a role sharing it, shaping consensus and inadvertently setting standards. (But itā€™s slightly different for PeƱa Bulos, as people are realizing she was already a somebody in the Philippines before becoming a whoā€™s who in the US, which is somehow similar to the case of Lea Salonga who was not only from the illustrious Salonga clan, but was also already a child star.) How much do Filipino millennials know about Marcoses, Aquinos? Maybe too serious? Lol. Then, letā€™s try using my favorite examples as a couch potato of newer cultural materials accessible to FilAms - cultural materials on television and internet.
FilAms who only watched TFC wondered who Regine Velasquez was when ABSCBN welcomed her like a beauty queen. Those with the GMA Pinoy TV have a little idea. But they did not initially get why the most successful Filipino artist in the US, Lea Salonga, does not get that level of adulation at home that Velasquez enjoys. Was it just Regineā€™s voice? No. Well, kinda, maybe, because there is no question that she is a damn good singer with God knows how many octaves, but it is the culture she represents as a probinsyana who made it that far and chose to go back home and stay - and thatā€™s already a cultural nuance Filipinos understand and resonate with, without having to verbalize because the Philippines is a high-context culture in general, versus the US which is low-context culture in general. I mean, how many Filipinos know the difference of West End and Broadway, and a Tony and an Olivier? What does a Famas or a Palanca mean to a FilAm, to a Filipino scholar, and to an ordinary Filipino? Parallel those ideas with "Bulacan", "Asia", "Birit", "Songbird".
You think Coach Apl.de.Ap is that big in the Philippines? He was there for the global branding of the franchise because he is an American figure but really, Francis Magalona (+) and Gloc9 hold more influence. And speaking of influence, do FilAms know Macoy Dubs, Lloyd Cadena (+) and the cultures they represent? Do FilAms know Aling Marie and how a sari-sari store operates within a community? Do FilAms see the symbolic functions of a makeshift basketball (half)courts where fights happen regularly? How much premium do FilAms put on queer icons Boy Abunda, Vice Ganda? Do FilAms realize that Kris Aquino's role in Crazy Rich Asians was not just to have a Filipino in the cast (given that Nico Santos is already there) but was also Kris Aquino's version of a PR stunt to showcase that Filipinos are of equal footing with Asian counterparts if only in the game of 'pabonggahan'? Will the FilAms get it if someone says ā€˜kamukha ni Arn-arnā€™? Do FilAms see the humor in a Jaclyn Jose impersonation? Do FilAms even give premiums to the gems Ricky Lee, Peque Gallaga, Joel Lamangan, Joyce Bernal, Cathy Garcia Molina, and Jose Javier Reyes wrote and directed? (And these are not even National Artists.) How about AlDub or the experience of cringing to edgy and sometimes downright disgusting remarks of Joey De Leon while also admiring his creative genius? Do FilAms understand the process of how Vic Sotto became ā€˜Bossingā€™ and how Michael V could transform into Armi Millare? Do FilAms get that Sexbomb doesnā€™t remind people of Tom Jones but of Rochelle? Do FilAms get that dark humor when Jay Sonzaā€™s name is placed beside Mel Tiangcoā€™s? What do FilAms associate with the names ā€˜Tulfoā€™, ā€˜Iskoā€™, ā€˜Erapā€™, ā€˜Charoā€™, ā€˜Matetā€™, ā€˜Janiceā€™, ā€˜Miriamā€™, ā€˜Agaā€™, ā€˜Imeldaā€™ and ā€˜Papinā€™? Do FilAms get that majority of Filipinos cannot jive into Rex Navaretteā€™s and Jo Koyā€™s humor but find the comic antics of JoWaPao, Eugene Domingo, Mr Fu, Ryan Rems, and Donna Cariaga very easy to click with? Do FilAms know Jimmy Alapag, Jayjay Helterbrand, Josh Urbiztondo? Oh wait, these guys are FilAms. Lol. Both cultures find bridge in NBA, but have these FilAms been to a UAAP, NCAA, or a PBA basketball game where the longstanding rival groups face each other? Do FilAms know the legacy of Ely Buendia and the Eraserheads? Do FilAms know about Brenan Espartinez wearing this green costume on Sineskwela? Do FilAms know how Kiko Matsing, Ate Sienna, Kuya Bodjie helped shape a generation of a neoliberal workforce?
That list goes on and on, when it comes to this type of Filipiniana materials on pop culture, and I am sure as Shirley Puruntong that while the homeland Filipino culture is not as widespread, it has depth in its humble and high-context character.
Now, look at the practical traffic experiences of the homelanders. People riding the jeepneys, the tricycles, the MRT/LRT, the buses, and the kolorum - the daily Via Crucis of Mega Manila only Filipinos understand the gravity of, even without yet considering the germs passed as the payments pass through five million other passengers before reaching the front. Add the probinsyas, people from periphery islands who cross the sea to get good internet connections or do a checkup in the closest first-class town or component city. Do FilAms realize that the largest indoor arena in the world is built and owned by Iglesia ni Cristo, a homegrown Christian church with a headquarters that could equal the Disney castle?
Do FilAms know the experience as a tourist's experience or as an experience a homelander want to get away from or at least improved?
Do FilAms understand how much an SM, a Puregold, or a Jollibee, Greenwich, Chowking branch superbly change a town and its psychology and how it affects the Pamilihang Bayan? Do FilAms realize that while they find amusement over the use of tabo, the homelanders are not amused with something so routinary? Do FilAms realize how Filipinos shriek at the thought that regular US households do not wash their butts with soap and water after defecating?
Do FilAms understand the whole concept of "ayuda" or SAP Form in the context of pandemic and politics? The US has food banks, EDDs, and stubs - but the ayuda is nowhere near the first world entitlements Filipinos in the homeland could consider luxury. But, that in itself is part of the cultural nuance.
Do FilAms know that Oxford recognizes Philippine English as a diction of the English language? While weā€™ve slowly grown out of the fondness for pridyider and kolgeyt, do FilAms know how xerox is still used in the local parlance? Do FilAms know how excruciating it is to read Panitikan school books Ibong Adarna, Florante at Laura under the curriculum, and how light it is to read Bob Ong? Do FilAms realize that Jessica Zafra, with all her genius, is not the ordinary homelanderā€™s cup-of-tea?
Do FilAms know that Filipinos do not sound as bad in English as stereotypes made them believe? Do FilAms really think that Philippines will be a call center capital if our accents sound like the idiolects of Rodrigo Duterteā€™s or Ninoy Aquinoā€™s Philippine English accent? Do FilAms realize how Ninoy and Cory speak English with different accents? Lea Salonga's accent is a thespian's accent so she could do a long range like that of Meryl Streep if she wants to so she wouldn't be a good example. Pacquiao's accent shows the idiolect unique to his region in southern Philippines. But for purposes of showing an ethnolinguistic detail, I am using President Cory Aquinoā€™s accent when she delivered her historic speech in the US Congress as a more current model of the Philippine English accent.
Do FilAms bother themselves with the monsoons, the humidity, and the viscosity of sweat the same way they get bothered with snowstorms, and heat waves measured in Fahrenheit?
Do FilAms know that not only heterosexual men are accepted in the Katipunan? Do FilAms even know what the Katipunan is? Do FilAms realize that the Philippines had two female presidents and a transwoman lawmaker? Do FilAms take ā€œmamatay nang dahil saā€™yoā€ the same way Filipinos do? Do FilAms know the ground and the grassroots? Do FilAms know the Filipino culture of the homeland?
These are cultural nuances FilAms will never understand without exposure of Philippine society reflected from barrio to lalawigan, from Tondo to Forbes Park. It goes the same way with Filipinos not understanding the cultural weight of Robert Lopez and the EGOT, or Seafood City, or Lucky Chances Casino, or what Jollibee symbolizes in New York, unless they are exposed.
The thing though is that while it is harder for FilAms to immerse to the homeland culture, it is easier for homeland culture to immerse into the FilAmā€™s because Americaā€™s excess extends to the propagation of its own subcultures, of which the FilAmā€™s is one.
Weā€™re the same yet weā€™re different. But it should not be an issue if we are serious with embracing diversity. There should not be an issue with difference when we could find a common ground in a sense of history and shared destiny. But it is the burden of the Filipinos with and in power to understand the situation of those who have not.
Nuances. Nuances. Nuances.
And while I believe that changing a vowel into X to promote gender-neutrality has a noble intention, there is no need to fix things that are not broken. Do not be like politicians whose acts of service is to destroy streets and roads and then call for its renovation instead of fixing broken bridges or creating roads where there are none.
The word ā€˜Filipinoā€™ is not broken. Since Rizalā€™s use of the term to refer to his Malayan folks, the formal process of repair started. And it is not merely codified, but validated by our prevailing Constitution, which I donā€™t think a FilAm would care to read, and I cannot blame them. What's in it for a regular FilAm? They wouldnā€™t read the US Constitution and the Federalist Papers; what more the 1987 Saligang Batas?
The bottomline of my thoughts on this particular X issue is that FilAms cannot impose a standard for Filipinos without going through a deeper, well-thought-out, more arduous process, most especially when the card of gender neutrality and political correctness are raised with no prior and deeper understanding of what it is to be a commoner in the homeland, of what it is to be an ordinary citizen in a barangay, from Bayan ng Itbayat, Lalawigan ng Batanes to Bayan ng Sitangkai, Lalawigan ng Sulu. It is very dangerous because FilAms yield more influence and power through their better access to resources, and yet these do not equate to cultural awareness.
Before Rizalā€™s political philosophy of Filipino, the ā€˜Filipinoā€™ refers to a full-blooded Spaniard born in the Philippines, and since Spain follows jus sanguinis principle of citizenship, back then, ā€˜Filipinoā€™ is as Spaniard as a ā€˜MadrileƱoā€™ (people in Madrid). The case in point is Marcelo AzcĆ”rraga Palmero - the Filipino Prime Minister of Spain.
But the word ā€˜Filipinoā€™ was claimed by Rizal and the ilustrados to refer to whom the Spaniards call ā€˜indioā€™. The term was then applied retroactively to those who helped in the struggle. It was only later that Lapu-Lapu, Francisco Dagohoy, Gabriela and Diego Silang, Sultan Kudarat, Lorenzo Ruiz, and GOMBURZA were called Filipinos.
The word 'Filipino' was long fixed by the tears and sweat of martyrs through years of bloody history in the hands of traitors within and oppressors not just of the white race. The word Filipino is now used by men, women, and those who do not choose to be referred to as such who still bears a passport or any state document from the Republic of the Philippines. Whether a homelader is a Kapuso, Kapamilya, Kapatid, DDS, Dilawan, Noranian, Vilmanian, Sharonian, Team Magnolia, Barangay Ginebra, Catholic, Muslim, Aglipayan, Iglesia, Victory, Mormon, IP, OP, SJ, RVM, SVD, OSB, OSA, LGBTQQIP2SAA, etc., the word 'Filipino' is a constant variable in the formula of national consciousness.
Merriam-Webster defines Filipina as a Filipino girl or woman. Still a Filipino. Remember, dictionaries do not dictate rules. Dictionaries provide us with the meaning. To me, the word Filipina solidified as a subtle emphasis to the Philippines as a matriarchal country faking a macho look. But thatā€™s not saying the word Filipino in the language is macho with six-pack.
The word Filipino is not resting its official status on the letter O but in its quiddity as a word and as an idea of a sovereign nation. The words Pilipino, Filipino, and Pinoy are not broken. What is broken is the notion that a Filipino subculture dictates the standard for political correctness without reaching the depth of our own history.
If the Filipinx-Pinxy-Pilipinx movement truly suits the Filipino-American struggle, my heart goes out for it. But my republic, the Philippines, home of the Filipino people, cradle of noble heroes, has no need for it (not just yet, maybe) - not because we don't want change, but because it will turn an already resolved theme utterly problematic. The Filipinos have no need for it, not because we cannot afford to consider political correctness when people are hungry, abused, and robbed off taxes. We could afford to legalize a formal way of Filipino greeting for purposes of national identity. But as far as the Filipinx, it should not be the homelandā€™s priority.
We may be poor, but we have culture.

CONGRATULATIONS, PHOEBE! YOUā€™VE BEEN ACCEPTED FOR THE ROLE OF SALOME.
Admin Rosey:Ā This was incredibly difficult. Both applications were stunning and shined in the limelight - but there were these small details, Phoebe, that you included that had us absolutely captivated. Salome, I think, is a difficult character to encompass so wholly while not overlooking the details.Ā But you managed to do that, to tie her all together while not putting her in a package. The application was such a joy to read from beginning to end - the way that you tied so many different characters into her, into her future. It was an absolute thrill to read because I was able to see so much while still being tantalized by possibilities. I canā€™t wait to see how Salome shines on the dash!Ā Please create and send in your account, review the information on our CHECKLIST, and follow everyone on the FOLLOW LIST. Welcome to the Holy Land!

IN CHARACTER
Character | SALOME
What drew you to this character? | Ā Typically I tend to go for characters who have a fundamental moral alignment of ā€˜goodā€™ (even if itā€™s been a bit corrupted) so at first I was really drawn to Gabriel/Abaddon/Isolde. I even brainstormed them a bit before moving onto the demon bios.
But then I read Salomeā€™s bio, and I really couldnā€™t get her out of my mind. There is something so delicious about her, so dastardly poetic. In a way, sheā€™s as pure of heart as many morally good characters - patient, steadfast, true to herself. Itā€™s just that her heart is a blackened one. A nature so rotted that even eternal damnation in Hellā€™s Abyss was not enough. The only fitting destiny was a demonic one, and the wings tore out of her body as if theyā€™d been there, dormant, all along.
I know the story of Salome (thanks Oscar Wilde) & I just adore the way in which the bio weaves the biblical story into this world and this character. Salome the Temptress, unflinching as she demands the head of John the Baptist and damns all around her to Hell. This one line in particular from Rosey really, really captured it all for me:
No, the minute her mortal heart stopped beating and she opened her eyes to the fires of Hell, there was only laughter to be heard ā€“ pouring from her lips as melodic as a larkā€™s song, a stark contrast to the wailing and grinding of teeth.
Salome feels young and charming and spoiled and light and warm and content and this image - her descending into Hell, disrupting it with her peals of laughter - sums it all up. She is arrogant and uninhibited with her sins plain for all to see. But she is also clever. She is a girl who dances with the dead; demon through and through. She lets them openly see it so that they do not think to look closer. For if they did, surely they would see Salome was more damned than theyā€™d ever envisioned? See that the open delight she projects - the laughter and fevered dancing, - all distract from a mind capable of cold, calm strategy? See that her hands are beautiful because they are stained with the first blood of this new world?
ā€¦All of which is to say that Salome the Temptress has worked that tempting magic of hers on me too - hook, line and sinker.
Are you comfortable with killing off your character? | If it serves your guysā€™ plotting vision then absolutely! Iā€™d just ask to write the death scene/have some say in the way it went down. (The person killing her off better be prepared for the fight of their lives).
FUTURE PLOT IDEAS
ā€¢ (small) PLEASURES ā€¢
Grand plans and power grabs are all very well, but day to day (on the dash lol) Salome is ruled by small pleasures and indulgences. What was the point of forging this new world if not to luxuriate in it?
01. Iā€™m very curious to see how her relations with all the other demons play out. Salome is by and large a solitary creature - the natural result of her arrogance - but I think there are some demons she favours more than others. I could see a potential friendship (or the lesser version of that bond) with ORIAS, for one. There were those who saw something akin to witchcraft in Salome too. There had been envy, when Orias was hailed the Original Witch, but even Salome has come to recognise the ungodly power that resides in them. They are one of the only creatures that Salome has any real respect for. She understands that there is value to learn in what Orias can teach. They call them the false prophet - it seems poetic that Salome is drawn to her. (So ! Much ! Potential ! Witchy ! Power !)
02. So too can I imagine Salome having a particular curiosity towards MAMMON. Hungry and dark and empty, Mammon is probably Salomeā€™s demonic ideal. With mortal origins herself, they represent a different kind of demon ā€“ one she thinks is utterly beautiful. Their future ambitions could align, both with a deep, aching appetites, but I can also see her purely enjoying the unique company of them. Salome does not treat her ability with any real respect or caution; she sees the dead as a game. think sheā€™d genuinely delight in Mammon mimicking her gift and the amusements that could follow. (Ok not to say Iā€™m suggesting deal body party games but itā€™s very that)
03. Salome gets equal pleasure (if not a great deal more) from less-than-friendly relations. She pushes purely because other peopleā€™s irritation amuses her. I think her relationship with AZAZEL in particular could be very, very fun. Of all the demons, I can see Salome having a particularly petty dislike / jealousy of Azazel for a few many reasons.. A) they are both products of indulgence, daughters of parents (literally and figuratively) who spoiled them rotten. Similarities repel and all that. B) Azazel is part of the de facto royal family, favoured by JUDAS.. and DAMIEN .. and ABADDON .. and Salome has not ever handled that well. She watched on as they, along with the rest of hell, fell for her and thus a time-old grudge was born. C) Azazel forms part of the Holy Landā€™s rulership. A land that was won because of Salome (in her mind) and one she feels has rights of ownership too. I imagine that Salome genuinely despises that the role was given to Azazel of all demons. I - I just sense so many great opportunities for both bickering and battling.
04. Salome draws great pleasure from her own magnetism. Devotion has followed her throughout the stages of her life, but it too has come to wax and wane. It is there in BASTIEN though, and itā€™s one of the connections Iā€™m most excited for. He satisfies her addiction, and in return she is both doting and cruel. There is some value in him politically, bu itā€™i more of a .. personal connection. That could change though. Or, perhaps a genuine fondness might develop, in the same way that other celestial beings seem to be fond of their animal companions. A muted form of possessiveness over his gaze and his wonderment (which may well manifest in Salome having a particular resentment towards EVANGELINE) . If he were to share out his devotion, or if it was curtailed by any harm coming to Bastien himself, Salome would not be happy. Perhaps his attentions have come to somewhat satiate her appetite and tentatively restrains her darkest needs - a fact that neither of them have realised. (!!!!!)
ā€¢ (medium) OPPORTUNITIES ā€¢
05. There are some things she keeps to herself - at least for now. Thereā€™s a lot of potential for self-paras or connections with the wider RP plot. To me, Salome has something akin to true addiction inside of her. It was there from the moment of her mortal birth, and it worsened with each hit. Essentially, I think an inescapable plot point is that Salome is a lilā€™ bit bloodthirsty. I think this would largely be developed through my own musings and mortals who are just ā€˜extrasā€™ to this RP, but Iā€™d love to deal with the intricacies of Salome having to cover this habit. Maybe she continues to use others as scapegoats; maybe she chooses her victims with careful attention so that they go unnoticed; maybe she does it in such a way that implies the presence of a beast or daemonium.
( In fact, the concept of the DAEMONIUM is verrrrrrrrrry intriguing. Creates who inhabit corpses and do nothing but feed their hunger? Sounds like a character I know. This is a potential plot point that relies on your guysā€™ vision and some collaborative world-building, but I think there is definitely exciting potential to explore these creatures through Salome. Imagine the carnage of her trying (successfully or unsuccessfully) to out-possess them.)
06. I think Salome would take any opportunity to poison Infernumā€™s highest-ranking. This isnā€™t so much be her political ā€˜end-goalā€™, but an opportunity for some real entertainment. It would be a game, try and crack the kinship that exists among Ā AZAZEL, JUDAS, DAMIEN and ABADDON; injecting a few words here, a few doubts there, and see if their loyalty lasts.. She knows Judas from a past life and has watched him oh so carefully overtheir many entwined centuries - I imagine she is a gnat to him, pushing all the right (and thus wrong) buttons. It would a sport to try and make his familial dynasty crumble. Perhaps she might attempt this by throwing doubt on to Abaddon in particular, whose aura contains a flatness that Salome cannot read. Salome doesnā€™t know of the goodness that lies in her, but perhaps she might find out. Regardless, I think Salomeā€™s worst imaginable fate would be being locked in the Black Cells, unable to dance and revel in the world, so she harbours dislike for Abaddon anywayā€¦
07. EPHEMERA is an opportunity that Salome had not anticipated. And let me tell you, boy do I adore this connection. It strikes me as a true clashing of teeth and spirits, but not as simple as one born from pure malice or hatred. Salome feels many things towards Ephemera, but she certainly doesnā€™t hate her - even if the ferocity between them implies otherwise sometimes. Thereā€™s a thin line between love and hate, as they say, though perhaps neither of those terms sum up Salome an Ephemera. It seems to be pure passion and temptation. I canā€™t say where this could lead without the thoughts of a possible Ephemera writer, but Iā€™m sure it will be nothing short of explosive. I think this connection is the most Salome has ever felt towards another being, and that in itself is curious to her.
ā€¢ (great) AMBITIONS ā€¢
The possible destinies of Salome. The following are all ways in which her story could play out, and all of them are quite dramatic. Whoā€™s afraid of the big, bad plotsā€¦.
08. Infernum technically has no throne. In order to thus claim it, perhaps one first has to be built? Salome would have no qualms choosing a side in another demonic cvil war. Why, if DAMIEN were to stake the claim of his birthright against JUDAS, he could count on Salome for support. If Judas were to live up to his title and betray the antichrist, he could count on Salome for support - if he got there before the other. Salome will happily help them consolidate a throne through bloodshed and betrayal. In fact, it will be her pleasure.
For through it all, Salome will be the demon who has thought to use MICHAEL. They are insufferable and righteous and (quite literally) archangel incarnate - really, if she had the chance, she knows that their blood would be the most utterly divine to spill - but they are useful. Undeniably powerful. Salome knows she must be careful here, but she enjoys the undisguised exasperation on their face. As if they have not yet thought to recognise the ambition that lies in both of them. If they helped her ascend to the throne of Infurnem, she would be a far more acquiescent to Caelumā€™s interests than the current leadership. Why? Because Salome would not act - would not even pretend to act - on behalf of demonic interests. If the best chance of her claiming ownership of the world depended on sharing it with Michael, then perhaps she would be willing.
09. But power can manifest in more than one way. She could follow such dreams, or she could become the worldā€™s nightmares. And wouldnā€™t that be more indulgent? Where others hold power or peace as their prime ambition, Salome would get equal pleasure from the simple decay of all things. The world could rot and she would laugh - the dead are often better company than the living. Ultimately Salome would start another war without hesitation; she would sacrifice everything and everyone for the beautiful carnage of utter destruction. It had been so easy with the War of the Last Rites, but she had been disappointed when it ended in peace. That will not happen again; she will be ready next time. When all factions are suitably engaged, she will raise her own force and strike them all down together. ā€” Such are her thoughts anyway. Thoughts that started developing when she met RYUK. To her, the power Ryuk holds is breathtaking. There is no other ability she desires quite as much. For if she were to contain both of their powers within herself, she would have dominion over a force so great that no living creature - mortal or immortal - could ever hope to defeat. The dead. It is a delicate strategy, but she has the patience for it. And if there was any who would spill the blood of a horseman just to see what happened, then it would surely be Salome.
10. Where there are mortals, there is faith. The relationship between Salome and the faith of the HUNDRED-EYED GOD intrigues me. In her mortal life, faith was an amusement. Its believers has been her playthings - perhaps they are again in this world. ISOLDE is as all prophets are; tempting. I think that Salome could potentially decide to join the faith ā€“ or give the impression to do so. Such a deceit would be fun and far from difficult - already she joins in on their rituals, her feet unable to stay away from any form of rhythmic movement, even ones more gentle than her usual tastes. A demon of relative influence, perhaps her faith would be welcomed amongst those most holy, perceived as a positive development in the faithā€™s recruitment. Perhaps she finds a currently unknown fellowship in the form of ESTIENNE, whose manipulation of the shadows surely speaks of some rot in his heart.
And all for one simple reason. Where there is faith, there are the faithful. Where there is the faithful, there is the potential for bloodshed so rich - so intoxicating - that she would play this long, patient game just to taste a singular drop. She has never been able to recreate the electrification of that first diabolical deed, when she claimed a saintā€™s head as her prize. She had danced and damned and thirsted ever since; the blood of an ALL-SEEING PRIESTESS might just quench such a need.
ā€¢ (potential) DOWNFALLS ā€¢
Ah, but all of the above are just potential ideas. It is just as likely that Salome would be subject to some downfalls and some .. rude awakenings. I adore the fact that both MICHAEL and RYUK have such different perceptions of their connections. They are both far smarter than she gives credit. Michael is, ultimately, more powerful than Salome on more ways than one - they will surely outplay her as they have everyone, though she might be of some use to them too. In Ryuk, Salome has started a war she might live to regret - one she hasnā€™t even realised sheā€™s fighting. She has perhaps been a little naive here, and it will be quite something when she realises.
There are other possible connections that could prove Salomeā€™s downfall ā€“ or at least a be a hindrance. In my mind, it is GABRIEL, ZADKIEL and CAPHRIEL that she is most weary of. They each have a light to them that she does not care for, along with the arrogance present in all angels. I say in the following section that Salome has no fears; they represent the closest thing she has to possible concerns. I donā€™t think she yet knows any of them particularly well outside of the War, but she has thought of their powers. The latter two in particular harbour gifts that could, potentially, expose Salome, and thus she has developed a specific distaste for them. And of course, she probably finds them particularly fun to antagonise.
IN DEPTH
Driving Character Motivation | [TW: Implied suicide in section I ]
I think a large part of my attraction to Salome is that she isnā€™t really driven by an external force. Partly she is driven by the deep appetite within her (which Iā€™ve mentioned more in other parts of this application) but I also think her motivations stem from her own intrinsic nature; she is pushed by her own heart towards ambitions that are mere extensions of her character. I think there are three central aspects of her character that best explain her motivations and actions: a complete lack of fear, an overwhelming self-adoration and a deep, petulant intolerance of monotony. Together, theyā€™ve created a woman - a demon - amply motivated to do any of the above listed plot ideas.. One who simply does as she wants for no reason other than want itself. Below Iā€™ve given three early examples (set in BP) of these traits taking root (and rot):
I ā€¢ For what use is fear to those who are damned?
It was said that Jesusā€™ tomb lay empty. Through the wind Salome heard whispers of women whoā€™d gone to mourn and found nothing - only stone and airwhere a pierced and bloodied body should have lain. It seemed the proclaimed child of God had evaded corporeal death yet again; that the words of the old, tiresome preacher whose head she once cradled had proved true. Their claims and their preachings were not false as her father had accused - but really, had not Salome always known that? Was it not she who had delivered Johnā€™s salvation, cast him up to his venerated Heaven? And as it happened - as both the head and the soul of John his body - had not she felt her own moment of pure, divine bliss?
It brought clarity; there was no hesitation in her now. She stood alone, looking out upon the depths of the Galilee Sea with an unconfined grin spread wide upon her face. She had known, always known, that the boredom of this life was only temporary. The adoration she received on earth had grown dull, she sought new, greater opportunities for her talents. There had existed a deep craving inside for as long as she could remember, one that had become increasingly difficult to satiate. It told her that her destiny lay outside of Heaven, that both the prophet and her father the king had been right to look upon her with fear. For if John and Jesus had ascended upwards, could she not leap down into her own descent? The idea of it felt so simple, so natural, so potentially powerful. Neither death nor the the promise of damnation brought her anything but intrigue. She thought of the wicked and the cruel, of the infernal depths to which she was bound, and felt only satisfied.
Mortal though she was, Salome was not afraid. Why should she fear her own destiny? Why should she fear for those she left behind? Fear had no place in a heart without hope. With a simple step, she threw herself into the icy water and waited to reach the blackest depths below.
II ā€¢ For what use is love to those who are satisfied?
Where there was Salome there was laughter - her own, that was - sharp, loud and melodic. When she first opened her mouth it had sliced through Hell and turned all of its eyes onto her. Rightly so, for she she had laughed as sheā€™d evaded Abaddonā€™s grasp, clawing herself out of the Abyss of mortal souls and claiming a rightful place in the depths of Hell. The Morningstar, sat above all, had not yet even spoken when Salome had started to dance.
She could feel Hellā€™s eyes on her, and what better way to greet such attentions than with that she did best. She had reaped rich rewards for it before, and she would do so again. A fleeting glance at her naked body showed her this realm had not dulled her beauty but made magnified it, her skin aglow with the fiery light of hellfire. And so Salome danced, feverishly but deliberately, losing herself in the spirit of the moment. What could anyone do but simply bask in the splendor of her new existence? As she raised her arms above her head, a pair of wings cut through her flesh and slowly tore out of her. Iridescent, they unfurled as if they too had felt the call of her movement.
A feast of celebration had followed. Salome could only laugh in delight as she looked upon demonic faces of adoration, gazes more alike than different to those she had received on earth. Seated at the left-hand of Lucifer himself, she had slotted into the natural order of Hell as if it had been her descent that had been prophesied on earth. How many in Hell, with all its angelic origins, had the blood of a true holy man on their hands? Perhaps just herself ā€“ and, she supposed, the man sat to the right of the Prince. Judas Iscariot. The Great Betrayer. A man she had known of in her mortality, a follower whoā€™d wrought a downfall more entertaining than any Salome had otherwise witnessed. He looked on at her with a hard glint in his eyes and she merely smiled back - for Salome understood why. Here she was, a fellow mortal in Hell with infernal wings protruding from her back where Judas had none. It all made such perfect sense; Salome was truly different. Truly transcendent. Made and marked by forces darker then most of Hell could stand. In that moment (and all moments thereafter), Salome was acutely aware of the true power that resided within her, spilling out through her beauty, allure and wretched talents. Why, she was utterly glorious.
III ā€¢ For what use is peace to those who are bored?
Eternity stretched out in front of her; memories of the wouldnā€™t fade. Of all the differences between immortal and mortal existence, it was only the nature of time that had ever frustrated her. To Salome, the centuries had passed by in both unfathomable speed and agonising monotony, the linearity of earth dead and gone. It seemed that in the face of an infinite future, even Hell could drag. It operated in a stasis that had begun to suffocate her and, gradually, had awakened once again an appetite that had only been temporally satiated. Lucifer dictated balance and moderation where Salome saw no reason for restraint. He had given her duties like none earth had ever dared, and she didnā€™t care to fulfil them. She had even grown tired of her puppetry, tired of dancing amongst such frustratingly passive bodies. There was, in a place of corruption, nobody left to actually corrupt; no opportunity to taste innocent or holy blood.
Over time she came to sense the quiet seeds of unrest in Hell, and she was gladdened by them. Once again a wicked smile graced her face, once again she twirled around the pits of Hell in anticipation. There was no better cure for boredom than chaos, and once sheā€™d caught the scent of it her hunt could not be stopped. It had proven easy to have the whispers diverted and delivered to her ears - so many were under her spell, either terrified or infatuated. So Salome came to learn of plans of razing Hell against its master, ripping through worldly divides and claiming the earth she once lived on. At last - she could have wept from delight. And most entertaining of all, Salome had snatched the dice into her her hands.
How easy it would be to join the dissenters, to war with them against the order of Hell that had shackled her. How tempting it was, to dash their plans by raising her own blade to the Morningstar and plunging the world into carnage without warning. How fun, the thought of taking all she knew to Lucifer and laughing as he rained down revenge on the demons he had been foolish enough to trust. Impatient with monotony; patient in the face of action. Salome did not yet know what she would do, and she found utter delight in the potential of it all.
PARA SAMPLE
The Holy Land was not suited to revelry. It lacked the vitalityand decadent excessthat a true celebration required. And really, wasnā€™t this her domain? Nobody got more unadulterated pleasure from a celebration than Salome - she doubted that even the festivities of the Stygian Moon would be of renown without her inputs. This particular affair was proving even more tiresome than sheā€™d foreseen. Every year she stands under the Triune Moon and watches as solemn vows are sworn; every year she wonders why they could not just be done so in private, sparing them all this tedium. She had said as much to Damien before as they had departed the comforts of the Black Palace, and had received little more than a scowl in response. But she knows her point has more merit than theyā€™d care to admit. How long before these promises of harmony are exposed as a farce? At least that year promises some true entertainment.
Salome thinks all this as she watches the stage in front of her, eyes lazily switching between the three figures who stand upon it. The Sun, the Moon, the Stars; every pair of eyes in the sweeping crowd are trained on them. Salome can feel them. Or rather, she canā€™t feel the usual warmth of infatuated gazes on her own skin. Here she stood amongst hoards of mortals and beings more lowly than herself, and none were paying her their usual bouts of attention. The only thing that prevented a quiet tantrum was the knowledge that she was far from alone in feeling this agitation. Her stare flickered from the stage towards the figures of both Michael and Judas, and she could not help but smile. To eyes that had repeatedly examined them over centuries, the rigidity of their bodies betrayed them. She was far from the only one who felt the absence of centrality, and that, at least, brought her some pleasure.
Still, she only has so much patience for ceremonies not directed at her. Ā Yet no sooner did she shift to exit the crowd than did words delivered on the stage give her pause. Azazelā€™s voice, suitably haughty, repeating the typical sentiments of the Holy Land. This was the ā€˜Age of Peaceā€™, Salome hears her say. Only the ā€˜cooperation of all factions and the formation of the tridiumā€™ had rendered them ā€˜triumphant against the heretics who would cast all into darkness.ā€™ This time she cannot hold in the delicate laugh that ripples through her. If only the annual repetition of such statements made them true. If only they knew of the true origins of the War that brought this so-called peace, of where the credit should rightfully lie. Though she knows it would be foolish - more than foolish - Salome can think of nothing but how simple it would be to stand above all and confess. Sheā€™d let them savour the details of her sins and her glories. She would laugh as they wilted under the weight of her revelations.
ā€˜Iā€™ve never seen you look so engrossed off of the battlefield.ā€™
Her imaginings are cut off by quiet words from behind her. She needs not turn to identify the voice of Ephemera, familiar as it has come to be. Salome had, of course, seen her across the crowd - when did her eyes start to automatically seek her out so? - but marked her presence as an occupation for later. That Ephemera sought her out first is not necessarily unexpected, but certainly thrilling. There is no other presence that can so easily bring Salome out of a petulant mood, just as there is no other who can so easily put her in one. But she has found that where there is Ephemera, there is entertainment to be had.
ā€œYou have not seen me do many things,ā€ she replies easily, as if they had long been having this conversation, ā€œthough I do believe Iā€™ve offered.ā€ And she has, more than once, tried to entice her with offers of dancing and hunting and enjoying all the vices of the world they fought for. She turns her head slowly to meet the watchful gaze of her once fighting-partner, a smirk on her lips as she widens her eyes in faux-innocence. They are two alike; mortals once but mortals no more, the first of their kinds. She knows Ephemera will not rise to her bait within the presence of other Angels, which only heightens her simpering expression. Salome has no such qualms about the thoughts of her own kin; their talk excites her, their gossip only confirms how many pay her heed. She has found no simpler joy than that of walking into the Black Palace and leaving excited whispers in her wake.
ā€œIā€™m sure youā€™ll agree that celebrating won wars is less fun than waging themā€™, she continues, amusement ringing clear through her voice as she returned her gage purposefully to the stage. ā€œI asked Azazel if she might add some zeal - perhapsmake those hounds do some tricks - but she seems to have ignored my good wishesā€. Salome can feel the rolling of Angelic eyes next to her without even looking. It was so easy, so predictable, and yet anything but boring. That was the real curiosity of Ephemera, so easy to reel in and yet so resistant to truly jumping off the edge. She seemed halfway caught between accepting Salomeā€™s allure and running from it, and the resistance only increased her desire. ā€œThough your one is the more dull, I believe. So earnest - itā€™s quite exhausting.ā€
It is clear that Ephemera is acting advisor and strategist rather than - what? Friend? Enemy? Something in between? - whichraised the question as to why she had approached her in the first place. She thinks to ask, but when she opens her mouth to do so the crowd erupts in an applause more loud than she thinks the show was worthy of. Still, she brings her own hands together for the sheer relief that it is finally over. Her feet ache from standing bored for so long, her wings want to stretch open and wide. She wonders if a large enough quantity of alcohol might loosen Ephemera a little, but when she turns to declare this she finds that her companion has disappeared in the movement of so many people. A pity, but no real matter. She has never needed the company of others to create her own sport.
EXTRAS
[ My (WIP) pinterest for Salome can be found here. ]
Salome keeps no animal companion, for she has never felt much love for the nature of the earth. She finds it amusing that some Angels and Demons belittle themselves by keeping one. However, it is not an uncommon sight to see Salome walking with crows flying above her. Only on closer inspection would one realise those animals are but corpses, a puppetry Salome (alone) finds humorous.
Like all parts of herself, she harbours great love for her wings, and not only for the damnation that they represent. They are formed of what resembles a netting of fine, golden spiderā€™s web. They seem to constantly change in the light, appearing to be more transparent than they are solid. Regal and beautiful, they are as Salome sees herself.
She is a fierce fighter and a connoisseur of bloodshed. Her weapon of choice is a trailing point blade, forged on the day of her arrival in Hell. She uses it exclusively for more.. intimate situations, and favours instead a simple longsword on the battlefield. She is however, proficient with most weaponry, as the corpses she can make fight use the same weapons they died wielding against her.
Though Infernum is the home she helped carve out, Salome spends a great deal of time in Sanctus Terra and travels to Caelum whenever the opportunity presents itself. Both locations amplify an itch deep within her soul, worsening her desire and thereby bringing greater satisfaction when she finally acts on the urge. She has not spilled any angelic blood in Caelum, though the temptation is strong, for she knows Michael has become astute to her presence. She has left a fair few victims in Sanctus Terra, a pursuit which has become less satisfying overtime. Still, Salome is careful. For all their talk of kinship, she is not sure that her fellow demons would refrain from locking her in the Black Cells if they had just cause.
[ aaaaaaand I leave you with the last verse of ā€˜Salomeā€™, a poem by Mary Lamb. I honestly canā€™t describe it as anything over then *chefā€™s kiss*. I donā€™t know if Rosey read this when she was writing Salomeā€™s bio, but I thought the writing style and tone and vibe and all beautifully mirrored each other?? Stunning. On that note, regardless of whether of not you think Iā€™m right for Salome, thank you for the obvious amount of time/thought youā€™ve all put into this because itā€™s been really (really) fun to explore. ]
When painters would by art express Beauty in unloveliness, Thee, Herodiasā€™ daughter, thee, They fittest subject take to be. They give thy form and features grace; But ever in they beauteous face They shew a steadfast cruel gaze, An eye unpitying; and amaze In all beholders deep they mark, That thou betrayest not one spark Of feeling for the ruthless deed, That did thy praiseful dance succeed. For on the head they make you look, As if a sullen joy you took, A cruel triumph, wicked pride, That for your sport a saint had died.

before nyc (tw: alcoholism, abuse, prison)
asher was what some holier than would call a miracle or what other would more harshly call an accidental pregnancy.Ā
his father owned a low-life club in the city, known for mistreating employees and sneaky business behind the scene. some speculated that the operation of the club was to simple launder drug money, however that is a far different story.Ā
his mother began working at the club around her twenty-seventh birthday and took on a position as an exotic dancer. she never quite had a set career path, often working odd jobs until it lead her to the intimidating world of stripping.
asherā€™s father took a liking to her, in the same way he took a liking to most females that got hired at the establishment whether it be a guest or an employee. however, unlike the other, he got her pregnant.
their relationship was toxic from the beginning. seeing as the relationship was forced for the sake of their child, they didnā€™t get along great. cops were constantly called to their apartment during 2am screaming matches, a lot of nights spent with one of them on the couch. but it wasnā€™t bad enough for one of them to leave, but it wasnā€™t good enough for one of them to say i love you.
asher was born on a rainy day in the spring and came into the world with a smile on his face. the nurses even joked he looked like a young frank sinatra with the way he slyly smirked.Ā
but the smile didnā€™t always stay on his face. as he grew up, he saw the repercussions of staying with someone out of convenience rather than love. while his mother fell in love with him and hand crafted her maternal instincts to excellency, his father developed a love for whisky and coming home late from work.Ā
despite what they once thought, a child didnā€™t fix things. in his fatherā€™s worsening condition, he began to get violent. it started off aggressively verbal until it matured into a far more physical act. at first it was just asherā€™s mother taking the brunt of the abuse. but as asher began to get older, it wasnā€™t uncommon for him to a victim on the lashing too.Ā
it wasnā€™t until child protective services got involved after asher in seventh grade came to school with bruises that anyone was even aware of what he was enduring. asherā€™s father was sentenced to twenty-five years in prison for domestic abuse & parental negligence.
the abuse had made asher timid moreso than it made him aggressive. so when he and his mother moved in with his grandparents, he was hesitant around his grandfather at first. his grandfather tried to form a relationship with him doing everything from playing board games to watching television or going mini-golfing.Ā  nothing seemed to be able to break through asherā€™s timid exterior.
this was until one day his grandfather caught him plucking at the keys on their grand piano and offered to teach a young asher how to play. music was the first thing they truly bonded over and within a year, asher was playing better than most people can in a lifetime.Ā
once moving in with his grandparents, his mother wasnā€™t around much. she was always with her latest boyfriend or with her friends. asher didnā€™t mind though, he enjoyed cooking with his grandmother or strumming a guitar with his grandfather.
in high school, asher became a punk. he strived in all social groups due to his charisma. he excelled with the music kids, got in with the burnouts, even was cool enough to hang around with the popular kids. teachers loved him despite not being the best student. it was impossible to hate him.
his music teacher wrote him his letter of recommendation to study at nyu. he never saw himself going to college but he was excited to reinvent himself.
in nyc (tw: alcoholism)
during his years at nyu, asher began to reinvent himself. he was no long timid or the least bit shy. he was suave and slick, getting along with almost everyone he came into contact with.
unfortunately when some many people love you, after a while, it begins to get to your head.Ā  it was no surprise to people when asher began to get arrogant and cocky about his musical abilities. but one thing he had to fake confidence with was who he was as a person.
asher didnā€™t like himself, hence why new york was such a turning point for him. deep down, he believed he didnā€™t deserve love or his success. but when he started getting praise for his music producing abilites all of that changed.
classmates were intimidated by him and professors were undoubtedly impressed with the way in which he could perfect a beat or make a hit simply experimenting. asher liked the attention, lived for the applause heā€™d get at the end of a presentation. the love others had for him inflated his ego but also drove him to success.
after graduating at twenty-two, asher moved to an apartment in brooklyn and immediately began interning at a record label. he didnā€™t necessarily like what he was doing, truly believing that he was too good to be there most days.
but even as an intern he excelled and at the age of twenty-five, he bought his own music production company that houses over twenty studio spaces for artists to record.Ā
in three years, not much has changed. except his bank account has quadrupled, heā€™s moved from a shoebox to a villa.. oh, and heā€™s developed a bit of a drinking problem.
drinking started off a social thing for asher. a few beers at a college party here and there seemed to be the beginning of it. then it was shots, and then getting black out at parties and not remembering much of anything. being surrounded by famous artists in his career only made this habit worse. he was drinking to wake up in the morning, in the studio, before bed and repeat.Ā
nobody knows much about his blossoming alcoholism but itā€™s quickly beginning to fester and consume him. but heā€™s pretty good at hiding behind the tortured artist facade.Ā Ā
personality:
asher is the epitome of smiling and rolling your eyes in the same instance. heā€™s charming and goofy in the same line and doesnā€™t miss a beat.
super flirty. will flirt w u. and ur friend. and ur friendā€™s significant other. thatā€™s just how he is.Ā
loves verbal sparring, the certified king of it
why is he always smoking a cigarette? nobody knows
can be an asshole, will most likely get you to yell at him and then laugh and tell you that youā€™re the one being ridiculousĀ
Indecisive af
a ride or die for his friends, literally would kill for a buddy
wanted connections:
ex girlfriend or boyfriend: asherā€™s been in nyc for ten years so heā€™s definitely tried to get serious ab someone by now. their relationship was for sure super toxic. letā€™s plot.
college roommate: someone who went to nyu and has watched asherā€™s success absolutely blow up. someone who pulled him drunk out of parties and threw him their dormā€™s cold shower. give me disappointed friends vibes or a strained relationship !! anything !!
half-brother:Ā Ā as far as asher knows, heā€™s an only child. his father was an alcoholic who often had affairs with the girls who worked at his clubs in boston or were in the city on business. it is no surprise that something came from his late night rendezvous. asherā€™s not the warmest person, especially when it comes to his negligent father. will anything come of the brothers sharing the city streets? or will they simply turn a cold shoulder to one another?Ā
assistant:Ā asher is a famous music producer with his own recording studio in manhattan. he and his personal assistant spend a lot of time together. this connection is pretty open ended so asher could be their mentor if theyā€™re musically inclined but they could also be confidants, best friends, frenemies, potential love interest, fwb, up to you!!
ride or die: this man needs to have some friends who put him in his place plz, heā€™s a whole ass disaster
music friends: self explanatoryĀ
fwb/ex-flings: this man is so flirty if he hasnā€™t messed around w u heā€™s messed around w someone u know. give me angst. give me missed connections. give me unrequited. give me friendzone. give me anything.Ā

Longtime follower, big time fan! I love your writing and I wanted to know what you would suggest or have any tips or recommend about how to start writing a book? I want to (and have a bit of an idea) but I don't know where to begin?? Thank you!!
Tumblr media
I want to start this ask, first with thanks and then with a disclaimer. Firstly, thank you so much for following me and for reading/enjoying my stuff! I really appreciate it and it makes me feel very warm-and-fuzzy to know that someone on the other end of the internet reached out to me and thought highly enough of my writing to ask for advice. Secondly, I am a writing teacher. I teach high school creative writing and have degrees in English and Secondary English Education. I have written numerous short stories and one day hope to get a PhD in English or an MFA in creative writing. On the one hand, I am Supremely Qualified to answer your question. On the other, Iā€™m... not. I am not a published author (yet) and most of my writing energy goes towards roleplay and fanfiction. The longest finished work Iā€™ve created as an adult is myĀ ā€œWooden Overcoatsā€ fanfictionĀ ā€œThe Greatest Undertakingā€, which doesnā€™tĀ ā€œofficiallyā€ crack novel length (50,000 words, give or take). When you say you seek advice on writing advice, Iā€™m going to tell you something Iā€™d never tell my students: you donā€™t have to take my advice. If something else works better for you (this part I do usually tell them), do that. I am not and no writer is the font of all writing knowledge. Anyone who says they are is trying to sell you something, usually, a book on how to write, written by an author youā€™ve never read or heard of.Ā
Okay, now that thatā€™s out of the way... letā€™s talk about what helps me in hopes that some of it helps you!
Donā€™t be afraid to start. People will make you feel like your idea isnā€™t worth pursuing. Most of them are doing it on accident and would be horrified to know that their thoughtless comments are holding you back. For years, I did not write characters who had parents because when I was eleven, my mom read a fanfiction I wrote and the main character was critical of her parents and my mom asked me,Ā ā€œIs this how you feel?ā€ If a circumstance hit too close to home, I didnā€™t write it even if my mom wasnā€™t going to read it.Ā Thankfully, Iā€™m past that. People wonā€™t be the only thing that will hold you back. Time, fear of failure, impostor syndrome... all sorts of insidious things will give you excuses not to start. Do not let them win.Ā
Some form of pre-planning is extremely useful! Itā€™s not necessary. Most of my short stories have never been outlined. I just sit at the keyboard and type until I have a short story and then I edit later. But for my longer stories, I find an outline keeps me organized and on track. Currently, Iā€™m writing a story calledĀ ā€œCatch and Releaseā€.Ā ā€œCatch and Releaseā€ has two separate outlines (I kept the original, even though I scrapped at least half of it), both about five pages long. The outlines, for me, include character summaries (who is this character, what did they do in the last story-Ā ā€œThe Greatest Undertakingā€ - that is relevant, what is their goal now, how do they perceive themselves/others, how do others perceive them, what other details are important), and chapter summaries with bullet-point lists of what plot points and emotional beats need to happen in each chapter. I did this in Google Docs because it means I can access it anywhere (and often do) and so I can use the strikethrough function to cross off plot points and emotional beats Iā€™ve hit in writing. This keeps me on track when I take breaks from writing. I havenā€™t worked on the writing since a little over a week ago, since real life has picked up. I opened Chapter Nine the other day and was like,Ā ā€œWhy did I start with Sid Marlowe?ā€ I checked my outline and remembered exactlyĀ where I left off. Itā€™s nice. I wasnā€™t as thorough withĀ ā€œThe Greatest Undertakingā€ and there was a point where I took a month-long hiatus from working on it (I was teaching remotely from a different city because of the pandemic) and when I picked upĀ ā€œThe Greatest Undertakingā€, I thought to myselfĀ ā€œWhat would have made writing easier for me?ā€ Your outline doesnā€™t have to be as detailed as mine. It could be moreĀ detailed. Just create a guidebook for yourself in case you get stuck or have to take a break from your work.Ā
Speaking of preplanning... Brainstorm! Keep a list of your ideas for future fics/stories/etc. Write little plot summaries to refer to later. I like to you theĀ ā€œ[Somebody] wanted [goal], but [obstacle], so [climax], then [ending].ā€ model when Iā€™m too busy to write a detailed summary. Iā€™d also recommend looking at and utilizing traditional outlines, like Freytagā€™s pyramidĀ or theĀ ā€œfour-act structureā€ a professor suggested to me at a Shakespeare conference if you want to push back against traditional storytelling that allows for a longer focus on the resolution/consequences as the characters establish a new normal. Something. Anything to make you know what ideas you have and what shape they might take. Pictures can be helpful!
Even though preplanning is useful, donā€™t get married to your outline. If you love your outline too much, you might spend all your time working on it instead of the story or you might not give yourself the flexibility you need and deserve to write the story of your dreams. I realized when I was writingĀ ā€œCatch and Releaseā€ that I needed the latitude to add in a scene between Chapman and Calliope and to have Chapman and Antigone interact at least once in the series, since they didnā€™t inĀ ā€œThe Greatest Undertakingā€. I was able to edit the outline easily enough to add a whole chapter (Chapter Nine, which Iā€™m working on). I might have to add up to three more chapters to hit all of my bullet points and I knowĀ my ending has changed from the first outline. Thatā€™s okay! As long as I keep writing and preserve the emotional beats, Iā€™ll be content. Some people would hate this edit-as-you-go approach and insist upon sticking to the outline. If that works for you, great. But Iā€™m not going to commit myself to subplots that donā€™t serve the narrative.Ā
Decide if youā€™re a plot-driven or character-driven writer (or, rather, if your piece is plot-driven or character-driven). Iā€™ve put so much emphasis on outlining plot in this thing because Iā€™m character-driven. I am constantly thinking about ā€œbut why are they like that?ā€ and ā€œWhat motivates character X? What is their payoff if they act?ā€ I think in terms of character relationships. This is great! Super helpful! But when it comes to getting my characters do things... I need to outline a plot otherwise they will sit around and talk about their feelings for 30,000 words and nothing will happen. I compensate by making sure my characters have goals outside their intimate relationships, other interests/hobbies/struggles, and lots of things to do. In ā€œCatch and Releaseā€, I had to think of an event that would allow my characters to act out their feelings, rather than think about them privately. If youā€™re more plot-driven, you will need to make character outlines to keep track of why your characters are doing things that they do and to keep them somewhat consistent in how they behave. People in real life are sometimes inconsistent. In fiction, readers are more likely to noticeĀ ā€œout of characterā€ behavior... especially if it isnā€™t tied to an important motivator. You might need to make character arcs instead of a plot event list. And thatā€™s okay! Do what you need to do to make sure that whether youā€™re plot- or character-driven, the two tie nicely together.Ā
Practice writing and read a lot. There are two ways to become a better writer. The first is my favorite: write a lot. In between short story projects and novella/novel-length fics, I write my RP characters here. I experiment with style and voice and character development here all the time. This is myĀ ā€œtake a break from writingā€ writing corner, lol. Itā€™s made me a lot better and the partners with whom I write make me better. It keeps me in continual practice with both story craft and mechanics. The second way to improve as a writer is to read a lot. Iā€™m going to say something my colleagues would probably hate: watching TV and listening to podcasts counts as reading, too. Study how the author or writers craft the book/episode/movie youā€™re consuming. Look at the dialogue and plot structure. Imitate the parts you like, mix and match pieces of media, use one authorā€™s style to tackle anotherā€™s subject material. Decide what you think is good writing and what you think isnā€™t. Iā€™m having my students do an activity from the book calledĀ ā€œNo Plot? No Problem!ā€ by Chris Baty, the founder of National Novel Writing Month. It asks writers to list all their favorite tropes, conventions, stylistic choices, etc. and all their least favorites and then to only include things they listed as favorites and to avoid writing about things they hate. Writing is a self-betterment activity, but you donā€™t get better by punishing yourself. You want to enjoy writing, right? Donā€™tĀ ā€œwrite what you knowā€. Write what you know, what you love, and what you want to know more about! Imitating writers you admire is a good thing for both original and fanfiction. Practice, practice, practice!
Set goals for yourself. I have an app called Habitica to help with my to-do lists. I have three things that are writing-related on it right now:Ā ā€œRespond to writing promptā€ (habit),Ā ā€œWork on creative projectā€ (daily), andĀ ā€œFinish Catch and Releaseā€ (singular event). On Habitica, you rank the level of ease for each thing.Ā ā€œRespond to writing promptā€ isĀ ā€œeasyā€. It can be a prompt here, working on a chapter ofĀ ā€œCatch and Releaseā€, or doing a separate writing prompt.Ā ā€œWork on creative projectā€ isĀ ā€œmediumā€ and can be any of the above... plus outlining or another artistic expression, because sometimes I forget to branch out. I canā€™t checkĀ ā€œCatch and Releaseā€ off my list until I finish the actual story and thatā€™s ranked as ā€œdifficultā€. I get a different amount of points for doing the things I need to do and I lose points for not doing them. I also (unofficially) have a goal that all of my chapters must be between 2000 and 5000 words. Thereā€™s no formal system for that one. Either way, these keep me motivated to keep writing. Find a system of accountability for yourself. Some people do well if they reward themselves (I donā€™t. Thereā€™s nothing I want enough to work for except things that have intrinsic rewards, like... I get to keep my job if I do my job. Telling me that is more motivating than telling me Iā€™ll get ice cream for finishing my lesson plans. I can get ice cream even if I donā€™t. Iā€™m an adult with a modest amount of disposable income or Iā€™ll decide I donā€™t want ice cream. The only times Iā€™ve done this self-denial tactic and seen results I also dehydrated and deprived myself of sleep. I do not recommend that in the slightest). Others thrive on working competitively against friends, the clock, or themselves. Still others accomplish their goals only by having external people hold them accountable. I will admit: I sometimes need a shove from a friend which is why...
Enlist friends to get opinions from. I have the worldā€™s best group chat on Discord. All three of them are writing partners here and familiar with my fandom (ā€Wooden Overcoatsā€ in this instance; though at least two of them are familiar withĀ ā€œPhantom of the Operaā€/Susan Kayā€™sĀ ā€œPhantomā€ and Iā€™ve forced the whole group to know about my original characters). Each of them has a different perspective so I can ask their thoughts and brainstorm with them, throw ideas at them, etc. or just ask them to make sure Iā€™m writing once a week or so. I have other friends who know nothing about my fandom or my stories but who are willing to listen objectively to look for plot holes. And then I have friends who are content to know Iā€™m writing and never ask for more info. Writing is such a solitary activity that itā€™s important to find support and community where you can!Ā
Believe in yourself. You can have all the support in the world, but you have to remind yourself that your story is worth telling and that no one can tell it quite like you can. Get writing!
I wish you the absolute best of luck on your writing endeavors! If you ever want to talk or follow up, Iā€™d love to hear how itā€™s going! Take care!

On OC Creation
[Disclaimer: Iā€™m not super interested in Discourse about Mary Sues and/or the concept of OCs in general. Just...starting this whole thing with a foundational premise that OCs are Fun and Not A Bad Thing.]
So, Iā€™ve been thinking some about OC creation (because, as Iā€™ve mentioned before, I am pathologically incapable of not creating a stable of OCs when Iā€™m in a fandom for more than five minutes lol; also Iā€™ve been falling back into AtLA and I have...A Lot of OCs there XD).
...anyway, Iā€™ve been thinking about it, and...Iā€™m curious, those of you out there who have OCs, how do you create them? Mine tend to kind of fall into four groups.
Group 1: Core OCs, or OCs that are Concepts I want to play with and/or have plots of their own (for fanfic, for RP, for just messing around in my own brain). So, like...Atia from BSG, or Addie from MCU, or Lavinia from SW, or Haku from AtLA (...as far as I remember, he fell into this category? A lot of my AtLA OCs I donā€™t quite remember where they started, lol...but Iā€™m including him because I plan on using him for an upcoming AU outline project), or arguably Judas from SPN, or Des from Dresden Files...
Group 2: Satellite OCs, or OCs that basically (at least initially) serve to flesh out the backstories/etc. of Core OCs (and/or canon characters in come cases). So, like...Melanie is one of Atiaā€™s satellites; ...Addie doesnā€™t actually have any until we start getting into Crossovers ETA: lol i forgot Caroline iā€™m dumb; Vedric Greer is one of Laviniaā€™s; Wei and Nuying are Hakuā€™s; Hermes and Hathor were Judasā€™s (though also kind of Gabrielā€™s); Hamlet and Azriel and Ben were Desā€™s...
Group 3: Plot-Relevant OCs, or OCs that are built to serve a specific plot-related purpose and arenā€™t intended to have stories or backgrounds or satellites of their own. So, like...Ileana from BSG; ...I donā€™t actually have any from MCU; Specter and Infernalis from SW; arguably, the...I forget her name, but the woman I designed to be Irohā€™s wife/Lu Tenā€™s mother from AtLA; Eremiel from SPN; and...I donā€™t recall any from DF but that doesnā€™t mean they didnā€™t exist.
Group 4: One-shot OCs, or OCs that are designed for a specific RP prompt/context. Most of these are also Plot-Relevant or Satellite OCs but I guess I think about them differently, since theyā€™re mostly RP-based? Anyway, as some examples--Khuyen I believe I created because I needed an earthbender willing to train someone Fire-born without too much Drama, etc.; Indree was created to give Roslin some local backup/cultural advice in the Epic Crossover RP of DOOM; Addie has a Love Interest who was created for the same RP; there were quite a few from one of the two DF RPs I was involved in for a while...
Of course, while I sayĀ theyā€™re just supposed to be Support and/or For This One Thing, OCs from Groups 2-4 often stick around, and start developing satellites and/or plotlines of their own. Like, as an SW example, I built a sister for Kallus. Then she had three sons, so I needed to name them and give them at least vague personalities (to be fair, some of this was also related to OCs created by me and a friend of mine, respectively, to be Kallus and Zebā€™s kids). Then theyĀ had partners and children of their own. Eremiel (SPN) was supposed to have one specific infodumpy scene and then disappear. She ended up with a backstory related to characters who wouldnā€™t appear for two more seasons andĀ the Book of Raziel. Ileana was supposed to be a sounding board for a tertiary canon character who was vital to that ficā€™s plot and ended up being a million times more Interesting than he was and leaking some crucial information to the press later in the story. And on and on it goes.
Sometimes, they start migrating to otherĀ ā€˜verses (sometimes my original stuff, like Kirana moved from AtLA to Feredar, though she left her AtLA family and some of her personality traits behind). I have one OC who was originally built for a wildly AU Dresden Files RP who then migrated to a more canon verse and then to AtLA. Judas has bounced around in at least three universes Iā€™ve played in, excluding one-shot RPs...at least one character I originally designed for AtLA jumped generations and wound up having a plotline in LoK.
And sometimes, OCs that didnā€™t initially start out as connected start turning out to be. For example, Irohā€™s wife, who I mentioned above (I really need to either remember what name I had for her or just rename her, lol), ended up being connected to a long-standing Plot-Relevant OC I had built as the head of the infirmary in the Fire palace (they served together in the Navy, among other things), as well as a Core OC who was...very concepty and will probably not be revived without some significant revision (IW was this characterā€™s aunt).
Anyway, tl;dr: I create OCs based on either specific concepts/storylines Iā€™m interested in, or as supplements to said characters, or to fill in a specific plot-necessary role. And then they start fractaling out, the same way I work in AUs. This is why I am pathologically incapable of notĀ doing this, lol.
What about you guys? Any of you create OCs? How do you go about doing it?
...as long as weā€™re here, why not do an Open Question Night? Priority to questions related to OCs, given the topic of this post, but otherwise the usual rules apply. Any fandom/work Iā€™ve discussed here or have posted on my AO3 is fair game.
Whatā€™s on your minds?
no i am not procrastinating writing the next chapter of precipiceĀ or the other things i have in the pipeline why would you say such a thing

name: Nicole, irl; but you folks know me as Cobalt ā™„ pronouns: she/her Zodiac sign: Scorpio taken or single: taken
3 facts
Iā€™m going to school for a VFX degree.
I may call Akuā€™s taste in musicĀ ā€˜oldā€™ andĀ ā€˜crustyā€™ when talking about it, but tbh behind the scenes I like that music too, so. šŸ˜… Guess my taste in music is crusty sometimes too LOL.
I LOVE working with markers!
platforms: Spore ( obscure one, I know! ), deviantART comments, then Skype, and then Tumblr and Discord.
rp / muse preferences:
gender: Iā€™m best at writing guys, interestingly enough? least favorite faces: ANYTHING Hazbin, hands down. Double no-no points if itā€™s a canon character from the franchise. multi or single: Not sure what you mean, here? This is a single muse blog and heā€™s multi-ship / multi-versal. However, I DO have a multimuse that I seldom use. :v @madnessdescendsĀ
fluff / angst / smutĀ  Ā Ā
fluff: selectively? I donā€™t like fluff just for the sake of fluff. I like it to fulfill some purpose. For example, with Aku when I write fluff Iā€™m well aware that itā€™s... incredibly divergent from how heā€™s shown to act in canon. Which is what makes it more meaningful, for him to let down his guard enough and let someone in like that; also I think that realistically a guy like him has some unfulfilled needs with intimacy, so. Itā€™s nice to explore how he clumsily navigates that kind of thing. angst: I donā€™t like relationship-related angst, as it turns out. smut: Iā€™m a bit shy with it? Iā€™d much rather just talk and * action * / [action] RP it on Discord rather than write it out in longform, unless I know and trust the mun well or it serves a purpose to bring two characters closer in blog canon. Also, Iā€™d be more than happy to let Discord smut events carry over to blog canon, too. ā™„
plot / memes: I find most memes to be contrived, themselves; and yield encounters that are contrived. Hence, the ones I reblog are usually just headcanon-related or things to ask me, the mun.Ā šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

Survey #191
ā€œi got a baseball bat beside my bed to fight off whatā€™s inside my head.ā€
Museum date or aquarium date? I suppose aquarium. Have you ever been a part of a protest or a march? No. Do you play any video games? Yes. Did you ever have an emo or scene phase? Yes. Name a subject you know a lot about. Meerkats. How would you describe your style? Too-Poor-To-Dress-Goth-So-Wears-Band-Merch-And-Graphic-Tees-Instead. Whatā€™s something most people love that you hate? Coffee. Who knows the most about you? Sara. Applesauce or pudding? Pudding. If you could create ANY mix-up or mythical animal and have it be brought to life, what would it be? I think I've mentioned a meerkat with butterfly wings before? Or bird wings? Describe a moment that is a prominent memory, but didnā€™t have a strong impact on your life. Uhhhh there's a lot. One random one would be learning to ride my bike. If there was one problem/issue you could wipe off the face of the earth, what would it be? Ohhhhhhhhhh god, there's so much. Maybe poverty? Do you think everyone in our lives serves a purpose, or are some people just there? In the story of your own life, no, not everyone. How do you feel about getting your picture taken? I hate it. Most embarrassing poster youā€™ve ever owned? Never owned one I was embarrassed by. When was the last time you were in a public setting and a stranger annoyed you? I'm not sure. Strangest pet peeve? Probably how much I hate people going in/out the wrong door. If you could make a guest appearance in ANY show, which one would you choose? Uhhhh Supernatural, maybe? Who do you think is the most underrated comedian? I don't know enough comedians for this, nevermind less successful ones. Do you always make eye contact with people when youā€™re speaking to them? No; this is something I'm super awkward about. I don't know how long "normal" eye contact is, so I think it's very easy to notice how, when talking to you, my eyes will suddenly wander. Could you see yourself having a child with the last person you kissed? We physically can't. We both don't want kids, anyway. Who is your favorite person to have random conversations with? SARA. When you were small, did you ever ask where babies came from? If you did, do you remember what your parents told you? I think I did, but I don't remember. Whatā€™s the nicest compliment youā€™ve ever been given? That I was/am "absolutely beautiful" and deserve "everything in the world." Who did you have your first kiss with? How did you meet that person? Jason. We "met" via Facebook because I accepted his friend request because I thought he was a different Jason lmao. Apparently he saw me in the hall and knew he had to talk to me so somehow found out my name. Which. I still want to know how. I've come to find how creepy our origin story is lol. Have you felt butterflies in your stomach today? No. Did anyone/anything get on your nerves today? No. Think of the person you fell the hardest for. What first attracted you? I don't know which I fell hardest for, honestly... because one was to an unhealthy degree, but my bond with Sara is healthy. I know I'm closer with her than I was Jason, but I guess by definition I still "fell hardest" for him? In that case, I thought he was really unique, even odd, which I appreciated. Has anyone recently found out something you didnā€™t want them to know? I got to where I told my therapist about the RP hobby, per Mom's and Sara's recommendations. I'm trying to work towards not being so secretive and embarrassed by what I love, so I very slowly got it out to her as practice and as a trust exercise. Is there something you currently want, that you canā€™t have? HA, there's a lot. A drawing tablet, for one. Who was the last person to make you feel embarrassed or uncomfortable? LAAAAAAAAAAAAAWL. Probably the last person I had a social interaction with that wasn't my mother. Think of the last film you watched. Who was your favorite character in it? Buddy (Elf). What color is your couch? Tan. What are you known for? Probably as the unsuccessful, antisocial, lazy 23-year-old that still depends on her mother. Has anyone ever threatened you? Yes. Have you ever been scammed? I don't think so? Are you making sure youā€™re using your full potential? Boy, I try, but I know I don't. If you have a partner, have you ever had to sleep in separate beds? If you donā€™t, how would you feel if a future partner wanted separate beds? We're long-distance so like. It'd be a bummer, but that's it; I understand wanting comfort, and even I know sleeping on your own is comfier. I'm just a cuddler and would sacrifice comfiness for the sake of physical closeness. What is something you are skeptical about? Peopleā€™s intentions. <<<<<< This. Is there a murder case you find absolutely fascinating? I'm sure there's some I've forgotten. What is an unusual item somebody you know owns? Ummmm. OH HA Sara keeps the complete/"good" sheds of the snakes in her room. Whatā€™s the oldest TV-show you like? When was it made? I Love Lucy, 1951. If you have a job, do you prefer morning shifts or evening shifts? N/A, but I know I'd prefer morning. Do you have a mug with your name/initials on it? No. Have you ever designed your own mug? No. Is there a game that you excel in? A number. Have you ever been in a row boat? No. What are you most confident about? Most insecure about? Ummm... probably photography, I guess? I'm most insecure about "odd" interests and hobbies. When are you most likely to say something you donā€™t mean? When I'm angry. When was the last time that you saw fire? I'm not sure. Probably while lighting a match to burn some incense. Do you like wearing sunglasses? Why or why not? No. I don't like my vision being dimmed. What do you think in general of girls with short hair? Rock it. How about guys with long hair? Usually attractive to me. Have you ever seen somebody get shot? No. Would you ever try one of those DNA kits? Totally. With films in languages you do not speak, do you prefer a dub or subtitles? It depends if the voiceovers are convincing or not. Generally, I like those because subtitles distract me. Which cuisine do you like the least? That I've tried, Japanese. Are there any foods you dislike because of the texture? YEAH. LOOOOOTS. Do you let your pets sleep in your bed? Yes, except Bentley. Who are your favorite songwriters? Otep Shamaya probs tops the list. What are your favorite one-hit wonders? YO "My Own Worst Enemy" by Lit is a BOP. Have you ever seen anybody naked by accident? Maybe? Have you ever had a sexual fantasy about a celebrity? ... lol yes. Have you ever changed your clothes in the car? Yeah. About how quickly does your hair grow? UGH, fast. Because I have it short now, it's overgrown in like, two months. It looks awful where it is now, but I should be getting it cut this month. Do you have to/choose to shave anything unusual? Fuck "have to." No one has to shave anything if they don't want to. But anyway, I suppose you can consider above my lip "unusual." Much to my annoyance, I have dark body hair so develop the dreaded "ladystache" if I leave it alone for too long. Do you groom (wax, pluck, or thread) your eyebrows? No. If you wear makeup, what are your preferred brands? N/A Did your school have somewhere for girls to get emergency pads/tampons? Yes, but for a bit of change. Fucking stupid. Did you have to take showers after gym before going to your next class? No. Were you in any extracurricular activities or clubs in high school? I was in the art and honors club, but we didn't do after-school activities. Have you ever picked up and kept a rock because it caught your eye? I think. Have you ever laughed at a scene (TV/film) that wasnā€™t meant to be funny? Ha, I'm sure. Have you seen any Hannibal movies other than The Silence of the Lambs? I haven't even seen that, but I want to. I know it's a classic and have heard great about it from horror fans. Have you read any of the Hannibal novels? No. Do you like any indie movies? Probably. What part of a manā€™s body do you find most attractive? I'm suuuuch a sucker for prominent shoulder blades/moderately muscular backs. What part of a womanā€™s body do you find most attractive? I'm weak for hips. Do you think guys look good in makeup? YO most I see doing it fucking rock that shit. I deeply respect guys who embrace their more feminine traits. Do you like using clay and/or peel-off masks for skincare? No. Do you like bread crust on pizza or do you prefer it cut off? Mmmmm love it. Have you ever driven while drunk/intoxicated? No, absolutely never would. Whatā€™s the worst/hardest drug youā€™ve taken? N/A What is the worst/hardest drug youā€™ve been offered, but declined to partake in? Nothing. If youā€™ve ever tried drugs or alcohol, what was your reason for trying it? I was just curious about how it tasted and knew a bit wouldn't hurt me. Do you think you could ever have an abortion if you expectantly turned pregnant? The only way that could currently happen is if I was raped, and I don't know what I'd do. I lean towards carrying it would probably be legit traumatizing to me so yes, but I suppose I'd have to be in that situation (knock the fuck on wood) to truly know. What is the weirdest ailment a pet of yours/your familyā€™s has sustained? Ummm. The weirdest... probably the intestine thing that killed Cato. I can't remember precisely, but I believe it was some type of infection that completely clogged him. Maybe even a disease. If you were far from home and needed to sleep for the night, would you choose to rent a crappy hotel room for $60 or sleep in your car for free? In the car. Is there a situation you caved into peer pressure and regretted it? Maybe? Have you ever been in a relationship that was going great, and then suddenly something weird happened and you just KNEW it was going to be over soon? That happened with Jason. I had this odd feeling something was off for a little while. He was quieter and seemed somewhat depressed, which was totally unlike him. I even asked him quite a bit if something was wrong, but he always reassured me he was fine. Which of the guys youā€™ve been interested in hurt you the most? lul we knooooow. Do you know anyone who is engaged? Yes. Do you know anybody who is pregnant? Yes. I'm going to one's baby shower next month! What is your relationship status on Facebook? Taken. Would you be able to name everyone youā€™ve kissed? Yeah. Last person you watched a movie with? Sara, her dad, and I think her mom and one brother was with us? Who has the power to break you? I honestly hope no one anymore, at least not entirely. But Sara comes the closest. Favorite ā€œlittle kidā€ movie? TLK. What are you listening to? WoW's Grizzly Hills music. :') Who do you feel most comfortable talking to about anything? Sara. Or Mom. It depends on the subject. Do you find smoking unattractive? Very. I think it says something about how much you care for your health. Have you ever just laid down outside and stared at the stars? Yup. Has anyone ever asked you if you were bipolar? I don't believe so. What was the last thing you looked up on Google? Types of rat cancer for that pet ailment question. We don't know with certainty, but that's likely what killed Tezzeret, brain or eye cancer or something like that. Do you lose interest in someone quickly? If you do something stupid, ha, bye. I can lose interest very fast but also slowly. Ever cried while you were on the phone with someone? Yes. Does your password have to do with a boy/girl? No. Have you ever made a boyfriend or girlfriend cry? Yes. Think back to last year. Who did you like? Sara. How did you meet the last male you called? He's my dad so like- Ever been kissed on the leg? Maybe? What was the last thing you ate? Ham, cheese, and mustard on wheat bread. If you HAD to kiss someone right now, who would it be? Sara. Who was the last person you rode in the car with? Mom. Name some things you love about winter? NOT HOT AS FUCK, snow, frost, gingerbread, chocolate-covered peanuts, I can walk outside without worrying about ticks, my birthday, hot chocolate, looking at Christmas lights/decorations, nice tree designs, Christmas itself... I just love winter. Last person to hear you cry? Probably Mom. How do you feel about your relationship status? I love it. Only thing that could make me happier is if we weren't long-distance. Is it possible to be JUST friends with someone you wanna be with? I dunno. Have you ever been given roses? Yes. Would you ever sky dive? I don't think so. Where was the last place you fell asleep other than your own bed? Sara's bed. If you dated someone that someone else liked, would you rub it in their face? Uh no, I'm an adult. Have you received a text message that made you cry? Yes. What do you think of your countryā€™s education system? If you could change it, what would you do? WOULD YOU LIKE AN ESSAY????????????? I'd change a fucking load of things. If you could move out of your home country permanently, would you? If so, where would you go? No. Is there a celebrity that everyone else seems to love, but you find totally overrated? Why is it that you donā€™t like them? I'm not in a place to really answer this; I'm not knowledgeable of almost any celebs' lives. Think back to the last time you got really angry. Do you think your anger was justified, or did you act in an over the top way? It was fucking justified. If you could volunteer for any charity, which one would you choose? Do you think itā€™s more important to help humans, or are animal and environmental charities equally important? Probably one for the environment as far as volunteer work. We're absolutely annihilating our one and only home, and if we don't collectively get our shit together as a species, we're gone. I think both are equally important. Do you have any allergies? If not, what do you think the worst thing to be allergic to would be? Pollen. I think the worst of the ones I know would be any deathly-allergic food, especially those that there are traces of in many foods. What do you think of the term plus-sized in modeling? It is it empowering or demeaning? It's demeaning in its name. Just use "modeling" as the term. "Plus size" just makes it sound as if you're not a "perfect" model. Do you prefer holidays where you relax, or actually do things? Mmm, depends on my mood, honestly. Do you think you are ready to be on your own (have your own home, job, etc.)? No. Do you think that after we die our spirit is still alive? Totally. Do you sleep in a bra? I feel very sorry for anyone who does. Has your ex ever gone out with someone close to you? No. Can you suggest someone funny on YouTube? Personally find Game Grumps or Shane Dawson the funniest people on there. Sprite or Mtn. Dew? I hate Sprite, so. Has anyone close to you ever been suicidal? Yes. What is the 10th picture in your phone/camera of? A picture of Roman as a kitten. :') Are you friends with someone whoā€™s autistic? My niece is, if she counts. Has anyone ever walked in on you having sex? No. Have you ever had a Bic Mac? No. I don't like lettuce on burgers. Whatā€™s your favorite part about the holidays? Seeing how excited my niece and nephew are. How old is your television? Idk exact years, but we had it before the divorce, so it's been a while. Would you ever dye your hair an unnatural color? BITCH I always want my hair an unnatural color. Have you ever been to the zoo before? Yes. If youā€™re reading a book, what page are you currently on? N/A How many online accounts do you have? Or have you lost count? I've definitely lost count. Have you ever been to a convention? (comic, YouTube, etc.) A reptile one. Have you ever done a first aid course? No. Has anyone ever compared you to someone you donā€™t like? No, I don't think so. Do elevators freak you out? Yes. How do you find new music to listen to when you want it? YouTube recommendations or Spotify. What is the biggest difference between you and your best friend? OUR FEELINGS TOWARDS MEDICATION. YOU NEED IT SOMETIMES BABE. What is something most people are turned on by but youā€™re not? Penises in general. I'm still bi, but seeing a dick is just. Ugh they're just hideous to me okay. Is there anything you wish you had done with a current/previous significant other? No. Well, I'm curious how actually deep sex would feel, so I guess I kinda wish Jason and I went that far, especially now that I'll probably never have actual intercourse again, but. Oh well. What are the top three qualities that draw you to a new person? Charismatic, caring, and respectful. What job would you be terrible at and what job would you be good at? Anything dealing with customers; exposing animals to healthy human contact. Do you think that forgiveness is mandatory to move on from something? I think so, to fully move on. Name three things you would buy if you had the money to buy them? A PS4, drawing tablet, totally new and better camera. If you could have a video of one event in your life, what would the video be? Sara's reaction to seeing me in her room on her birthday. Her face was the most priceless thing ever. What did you think was cool when you were younger? Light-up shoes lmao. Who do you wish you could back into contact with and why did you stop in the first place? Megan. She lied about just about everything in her life for pity. When I finally called her out, she was so upset with herself that she like, fell off the face of the earth. Have you ever had a dream of stabbing someone? No, but rather Dad trying to stab me. Whatā€™s the most bizarre Horror movie youā€™ve ever seen? Idk off the top of my head. Would you ever take a Lie Detector test for your significant other? No, but only because I find them as bullshit. Especially as someone with anxiety, I'd be so scared of something showing as a "lie" to remain calm. Plus, a question may just prompt a memory or thought in you that shows up on the test or whatever but isn't related to lying, stuff like that. Ever had a forbidden love or lover? No. Do you like canopy beds? YES. I WANT ONE. If you could summon any animal to come to your rescue, what animal would it be and why? Ummm maybe a bear? They're tanks and super dangerous with their claws, teeth, and muscles.

hi yes gimme those CYRIC FACTS bc i still Love
Ask Meme from This Post
Tumblr media
BEHOLD! THE OC I NEVER DRAW!Ā
Full Name: Cyric Lord ā€¦ and thatā€™s all Iā€™ll type out because everything else is a bunch of titles
Gender and Sexuality: Genderfluid and ā€¦ power-sexual? Heā€™s really only into really magically powerful folk
Pronouns: He/Him, They/Them, Lilā€™ Fucker to appropriate parties involved
Ethnicity/Species: Heā€™s actually Time Manifested but due to unfavorable circumstances he was reborn as a FairyBirthplace and Birthdate: The Nothing before all Universes/ Reborn in the Guild Castle on the Island of Noon ON the Planet of Caets. Birthdate is weird but was born during the first sunrise of the summer solstice.Ā Guilty Pleasures: Giving his husband a really hard time with everything and sending his mercenaries on really outlandish missions so he can watch on his magic bubble how everything will play outā€¦ He doesnā€™t feel guilty about any of this btwPhobias: Being locked into one universe AGAIN or being reborn again. Heā€™s behaving to make sure that never happens again.Ā What They Would Be Famous For: Well him moving time forward in all created universes essentially means he created death and decay. On Caets heā€™s the most powerful being on the planet and became the Chief Deity of itā€¦ Heā€™s very bored with that position because now he has to be responsible. Also famous for blowing up things that didnā€™t need to be blown up.Ā What They Would Get Arrested For: Everything. Justā€¦ everything. Him being reborn is essentially him serving time for his crimes against EVERYTHINGOC You Ship Them With: @corvidcastlesā€˜s Lucian (they are married after all)OC Most Likely To Murder Them: ā€¦ Lucian thatā€™s if AshĀ doesnā€™t get to him firstFavorite Movie/Book Genre: Epic Adventures!Ā Least Favorite Movie/Book Cliche: When they kill off the lovable animal companions. Heā€™s working on making that cliche illegalTalents and/or Powers: Creating a scene everywhere he goes. Napping. Time Manipulation, absolute destruction. Fairy Powers include massive terraforming/ intuitive manipulation of the elements, long distance teleportation, fast flying, physical transfiguration (helpful when genderfluid), magically manifesting stuff that already exists, and creating unstoppable fires. He has an affinity for fire so his hair tends to turn into fire when using massive amounts of magic.Ā Why Someone Might Love Them: His energy is just infectious? Who knows why anyone loves him! Heā€™s self serving, lazy, destructive, irresponsible, and has too much power for everyoneā€™s own good! His one redeeming quality is that heā€™s easy to get along with and is overall non-offensiveā€¦ .also one of his Mercenaries says he gives really great pets.Ā The Sister who locked him away and forced him to be reborn still loves him, so there is that! Why Someone Might Hate Them: He uses everyone and everything as a personal pawn. Creates messes he canā€™t fix, and is also the starting point to any grand scale catastrophic event in any universe if there are any. The people whom heĀ ā€œcreatedā€ specifically to clean up his messes have a deep hatred for him. He doesnā€™t mind that though.Ā How They Change: He learned that going on Universe destroying temper tantrums is not a healthy and has stopped doing that. Honestly thatā€™s all his Sister wanted and to ask for more is a tall orderWhy You Love Them: Cyric is one of my MAIN OCs and Iā€™ve had him for a looong time. Heā€™s also super fun to RP and very easy to make AUs with. I have some other reasons why Iā€™m pretty attached to him but thatā€™ll get long and weirdI donā€™t draw him as often as I like mostly because heā€™s just ā€¦ difficult to capture, kind of? And often times I donā€™t have the skill sets to draw him how I want. Last time I didĀ he didnā€™t look like himself. Pic is cute and i had fun drawing the hair butā€¦ thatā€™s not quite Cyric lol.Ā At this point I think I just develop my art style just so I can draw Cyric better

HOW I RUN MY BLOG.
Tumblr media
SPEED: i am, how do i put this... not fast. my life outside of tumblr is busy, now more than usual, and that means i only get a chance to sit down and write some evenings. on top of that i have no chill and wanna write with so many people and i have so many muses so it all really piles up. at the time of writing this i owe over 100 things when you combine replies, memes, and starters but !! as long as people are patient with me, i donā€™t stress about it.
REPLIES: i add everything into my thread tracker and tryĀ to reply on a first come first serve basis. there are some situations in which iā€™ll jump around a bit, so as not bombarding one person with several replies in a row, or if i have a lot of motivation to write one specific muse more than others. as of right now, iā€™m about two weeks behind.
STARTERS: all of my starter calls are permanentĀ starter calls. so you may be waiting for a while if i donā€™t have a plot idea or have gotten A LOTĀ of likes for one muse and need to spread em out like regina fucking mills jfc. when i write starters theyā€™re usually fairly long because i like to set a scene, but i donā€™t expect the length to be matched by my partner.
INBOX: i am a slut for memes. i put a lot of thought into them, and i write them with the intention of continuing them. you donā€™t have toĀ continue a meme, but just know that i almost always write them in a way that they can be easily continued if you want to. that being said, it usually takes me a long timeĀ to get to memes unless weā€™ve never written together before. i have a lot that sit in my inbox for a while, so be patient!
SELECTIVITY: i am pretty selective because i have to be or iā€™ll get super overwhelmed. i also want to cultivate real relationships for my muses so there are a couple of rules of thumb. 1. if i follow you, it means i want to write with you. 2. if i havenā€™t approached you about writing its because either im behind and donā€™t want to make you wait for a while or i havenā€™t thought of a plot idea yet BUT if you have one PLEASE come to me and we can make it happen! 3. if i donā€™t follow you but you want to interact, send a meme! or come to me with a plot idea. DO NOTĀ come to me with aĀ ā€˜do you wanna rp?ā€™ message because i will not reply.
WISH LIST: yeah i have one of those, you can find it HERE
HONEST NOTE: i promise iā€™m not scary & you can always approach me. that being said------ i amĀ reallyĀ bad at ooc communication. if you come to me about plotting and i seem to drop off the face of the earth it isnā€™t because i donā€™t wanna do the thing, itā€™s literally because i got distracted and forgot to reply. always feel free to send me a reminder! or just... write me a starter lol

biggest plot-twist of my entire life
so i get connects for my prompt on cherubplay, right? voltron roleplay. iā€™m keith and i get 3 lance rpers to connect.
i get replies from all 3 of them and its thenĀ that i realize which roleplayer iā€™m most compatible with and who fits all my criteria surprisingly perfectly. i had no idea why or how, but they seemed to match me up perfectly. perfectly as in, perfect grammar, spelling, perfect characterization of lance, perfect length. lotsĀ of detail. they were very patientĀ and consistent. indulging me whilst indulging themself?? sharing this thing we mutually indulge over? never had a better partner in my life.
(this is sorta lengthy, as i try so very hard to convey my shookness, so iā€™ll throw it under a rm)
i mean, iā€™m soĀ excited about this roleplay, i tell my little sister. my 12 year old sister. as i always do. she helps me with ideas for prompts sometimes, helps me figure out how to flow paragraphs together. sometimes just her being there sparks my brain, little words she says serving as inspiration for sentences and even entire prompts themselves. and she lovesĀ hearing about the ideas. loves reading my roleplays. loves sharing fandoms with me, and i enjoy it just as much because sheā€™s ridiculously matureĀ and i feel as if sheā€™s another one of my friends around my literal age and itā€™s honestly astonishing to have a child so aware and so mature, so smart??? iā€™m rambling.
so anyway, to put it simply, i blab.Ā i do not shut up about this prompt to my sister. and sheā€™s just as excited, i mean more excited than sheā€™s ever been about a prompt, which didnā€™t strike me as odd- i mean, this particular au was one of her faves as i came to learn.
so one of my favorite things to do when i roleplay is send them to her to read! and also point out flaws, what people could do better, how they could improve. sometimes i express pet peeves when it comes to the pushy, mean roleplayers and sometimes i express the little things i get ecstatic about with the nice, detailed roleplayers, though these gems seem to be stretched thin lately. iā€™ve been getting a ton of lackluster partners, ones who do notĀ seem interested, and absolutely put forth minimal effort into the roleplays. total turn off to me, and things like this i tell my sister.
so when i mention this perfect godly roleplayer who connected to an au weā€™re both equally ecstatic about, sheā€™s immediately interested. lets me blab all about it. asksĀ me what this rper could do better. all i tell her is that the hunk is slightly out of character, but otherwise, itā€™s perfect, and i could care less about the hunk because this is about keith and lance.Ā itā€™s more than i could ever ask for.
after this dies down, i offhandedly mention something about 18+ roleplays about 20 minutes later as a sort of random afterthought of reading someoneā€™s prompt on the site, and how i hate it when underage people connect to roleplays that are explicitly stated to have some kind of arranged smut. which my roleplay, this voltron one specificallyĀ does have, as oftentimes iā€™m very adamant about including smut in my shippy rps. and then it happens.
ā€œum, hey ren. can i tell you something? [insert prefacing about how i shouldnā€™t be upset or mad, and how it might change things but it wonā€™t be the end of the world, etc etc etc. this is the kid i help soften the blow of skipping class from literal states away when sheā€™s having bad mental health days. nothingā€™s gonna be thatĀ bad, i thought, because obviously i love my sister to death and weā€™re very very very close. so i said i wasnā€™t gonna be mad.]ā€
ā€œwhatā€
ā€œiā€™m the third lance.ā€
ā€œyeah fucking right lmaoā€ i say because uh, lmao? she always fucks around like that. always tries to be funny or witty. well, iā€™m in the middle of replying to my fucking perfect third lance, i donā€™t have the mind to really respond to her because um. i need to concentrate.Ā
"no really, iā€™m the third lance iā€™m being dead serious.ā€ more banter i thought. no, of courseĀ i donā€™t believe her. i tell her i donā€™t believe her, i start tuning her out while she desperately tries to convince meĀ because uh?Ā the writing is too good. too detailed. too beyond her level. damn near matching my fucking level.Ā and i genuinely donā€™t mean to toot my own horn, but i want to stress that i can write upwards of 1000-3000 word starters, detailedĀ beyond belief, because i love story-telling. i love roleplay. so after she continues on with these claims,Ā i tell her to prove it. and then she comes at me with this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
obviously by this point you can tell iā€™m fucking going bananas on discord during our voice call considering her response. i mean iā€™m so shook. iā€™m so fucking astonished, iā€™m stillĀ fucking astonished, this was just barely an hour ago???
who wouldā€™ve known my 12 year old sister can write better than more than half of the connects iā€™ve gotten from adultsĀ on this site since day one (literally) of its launch since i joined???
her reasoning to tell me so soon and not let it progress like sheā€™d planned to was cause the guilt was eating away at her, and then the guilt really killed her when i offhandedly mentioned underage roleplay and how it was illegal- which she didnā€™t know. i mean why would she? she doesnā€™t roleplay. not into that scene. info she wouldnā€™t come across unlessĀ she roleplayed, and then she would most definitely know because sheā€™d figure it out with research (like i did! like a lot of people did) or tell me she wanted to start roleplaying, which then iā€™d of course tell her the doā€™s and dontā€™s. this time however of course i just mentioned it by chance, luckily, and it didnā€™t go much farther. it was for fun, she said, to see how iā€™d react, and also so she could garner totally unbiased opinions and critiques from me about thisĀ ā€œperfect lance.ā€
part of me wishes she was an adult stranger so i could keep this thing going, enjoy it like any other partner because this person seemed so perfect before i realized it was my sister lol. but hey, i told her we could roleplay it (minus smut of course lmao sheā€™s fucking 12 donā€™t come at me LMAO), she could use it as a sort of way to improve, have fun, all that.
needless to say, iā€™ve never simultaneously felt disappointed and weirdly prideful in my entire life before up until this point. my sisterā€™s fuckin bomb lmao she cranked out paragraphs and paragraphs of nicely-put details and creativity beyond any and all expectation.

Jos. Itā€™s always nice to see one of our former members returning to the group! We can claim that we were surprised by the strength of your application for our latest addition to the cast, Finn Mikaelson, but that simply wouldnā€™t be true. We had a feeling your skill in writing and intuition for capturing a characterā€™s inner voice would pull through - and we were not at all disappointed. You captured Finnā€™s darkness; his cutthroat - almost fanatical ambition and dogged belief in his sense of purpose. But you didnā€™t forget about the sleek, deceptively cool mask he wears externally - which is arguably the most terrifying part about him - because of how seamlessly it hides what lurks beneath the surface. We cannot wait for the havoc that Finn is sure to unleash in our Quarter, and we bid all of New Orleansā€™ residents tread carefully; with the most monomaniacal Mikaelson on the scene, even the hounds of hell would be more merciful...
Jos, thank you very much for applying. As for Finnā€¦
Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  āšœ ~ WELCOME TO VIEUX NOYƉS!!! ~ āšœ
Wondering what to do next? Click here and let the good times roll!
āšœ Roleplayer
ā¤œ Name/alias: Jos | Joslyn ā¤œ Pronouns: She/Her/Queen ā¤œ Age: 26 ā¤œ Timezone: Central/Chicago ā¤œ Activity: Iā€™m off school and work so Iā€™m all set till at least the end of January and then iā€™ll be around for most evenings because spring semester is chill beans~ ā¤œ Best form of contact: Character account :) ā¤œ Any Triggers? None ā¤œ How did you find Vieux NoyĆ©s? Previous Member that played Kol Mikaelson and I miss my babes and Iā€™m a terrible abandoner that cries for leavin yā€™all ā¤œ What drew you to the RP? EVERYTHING. I remember how much fun it was and how much inspiration I got from the plot and the players alike, I want that back if I can have it *grabby hands* ā¤œ What is one subplot/element from the Plot page that you are particularly looking forward to seeing in this roleplay? Well since Iā€™m applying for a different characterā€¦. the Mikaelson feels, the power plays (as always) and the unmistakable sound of masochism and mayhem in the Quarter. I canā€™t pick ONE PLOT HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?!
āšœ Desired Character: Finn Mikaelson Vincent Griffith
ā¤œ Why do you want this character? While Kol hails himself the ā€˜black sheepā€™ of the family, I very much think that title is self-proclaimed and deserved to Finn. He is the black sheep born of self hatred and has placed himself in the position on choices alone. Where other siblings slide in when given reprieve to take up the vow of ā€˜always & forever,ā€™ Finn has CHOSEN to remain on the outside, forever watching and evaluating their treacherous and tyrannous acts. He is intricately woven in an obstinate hatred for the supernatural - vampires in particular - as he finds their behavior and need to suck the life out of every vein mercilessly abhorrent. I almost envision him (shout out to my Harry Potter nerds) to almost carry an OBSCURUS around his heart - a never ending darkness that engulfs his worst deeds in vampirism that leaves him confused and lost on weighing the outcome of survival and family versus ā€˜the right thing to do.ā€™ I think playing that out and discovering that though he hates them, he can feel a tiny pinprick of love for them, is going to be interesting to see develop and quite fun to cultivate.
ā¤œ What are your future plans for this character? As above Iā€™d like to develop and pick apart his loves and hates. I mean Freya, sheā€™a a MAJOR weak point for him. Though she lies with his siblings in wrongdoing and is bloodying her hands, heā€™ll still have a weak part of his inner darkness that calls to her, that allows HER to wash away an ounce of hatred. I feel that he will have that with others as well, as they mold their way into his life on actions and choices. I mean Camille is going to be the exact opposite (to start). Little Miss Sunshine ainā€™t nothing but a power play and a poignant piece of the puzzle between the two city leaders - the self proclaimed kings of disaster. Exploiting her naivete will allow him the chance to see whatā€™s going on in the Quarter while actively remaining on the outskirts.
ā¤œ Put yourself in your characterā€™s shoes. Give us a few lines to describe a day in the life of your characterā€¦ Where do they live? Where and how do they spend their time?
(Iā€™m doing something a bit different with this and using the locations!)
ROSSEAUā€™S - though their chats usually happen outside in the sunlight where Camille rants about freezing her ass off, Finn is amenable to playing bar-back and helping her to perpetuate the alcoholism of the natives by pouring beers. Surely the act itself would be frowned upon by the owner, but Finn isnā€™t exactly caring of their plight when he is begging for more answers. ā€œAlright Camille, you know that you can serve up as many shiny shots of tequila as youā€™d like, hoping that the next blustered and brash boy toy that comes to the bar will get me off your back, but youā€™re wrong. Youā€™re going to have to talk eventually about that little tidbit you divulged on yourā€¦ how did you put itā€¦ theatrically untamed and easily angered artist?ā€ He knew she was speaking on Niklaus, knowing full well he tossed his dramatic flair into brushstrokes for a calming effect.
LAFAYETTE CEMETERY - hands intricately laced in a spell, doused in blood as per the usual enchantment, Finn is accustomed to people entering the hallowed lanes of the cemetery. Even being interrupted in the middle of one of his rituals, however, he is not accustomed or amenable to being watched and analyzed, caring to do that onto others. ā€œYou know, most people tend to offer a greetinā€™ instead of an unwavering, burn through your clothes, gaze. I donā€™t know, maybe you could try a ā€˜helloā€™ instead of a snarl, maybe un-pluck a few of those feathers youā€™ve got wound so tight.ā€ His visitor was not of the unkind variety, just the uptight as if a perpetual stick was shoved up their ass steering the direction of their emotional bitch switch. He tossed a lopsided smirk their way, slopping the blood off his hands and reaching for a towel to turn rouge. ā€œYou know I ainā€™t no threat, and I know you ainā€™t either, letā€™s be honest. Tell me what you want, or get on your way.ā€
TULANE UNIVERSITY - Speaking on issues that he cared less about, Finn digressed to fully, while also systematically chosing his words as carefully as possible, divulging the benefits of magic in history and the Salem witches. What was thought to be a history class hailed from the books that sat before the very attuned yet half asleep faces of the pupils, became a true story that most wouldnā€™t believe. Simply because a guest speaker arrived didnā€™t mean they listened to a word spillinā€™ out of his mouth. A favor to a professor he happened to find linked to data he needed to breach, he had told himself, agreeing to being placed dead center had become an hour of watching their faces turn from intrigue to boredom and phones coming out of pockets. ā€œI know yā€™all have this insane hunger for technology, and I get it, gotta swipe left on the hottie of the second and swipe right on anything that would actually create neurons, but youā€™re gonna need to put your phones away.ā€ One careless student rolled his eyes, and in the next second Finn was snapping his fingers, words thought in spell, and the phone was dead. No matter how many times the boy hit restart the screen stayed black. ā€œRotten luck man, bet ya wish youā€™d been paying attention to have something to attribute to that faulty form of technological magic.ā€
ā¤œ Give us three headcanons regarding your character of choice.
#1: DREAM CATCHERS - Finn is woven like a dream catcher. His hopes hang on the finely woven strings hoping to create a better future by allowing the passage of nightmares to turn into vividly kinder dreams. He wishes to funnel everything to a brighter and better light, to eliminate the darkness from the lives that deserve better. But through such changes, he also holds tight to the nightmares, callously turning them against the perpetrator and using them to his advantage. He weaves a web and he knows every string.
#2 THE FALLEN Ā - there is a part of Finn, no matter how minuscule, that lies with the fallen. The ones used for devious deeds of others. Perhaps itā€™s in those deeds, with choices chosen for him that he would otherwise not choose, that has him so hellbent on making sure his choices are finely decided before actions hail to emotions.
#3 HUMANITY - he craves humanity like a drowning man craves dry land. He wants to be human, to stop the inevitable chance of no undoing. If he goes back into his vampire form, heā€™ll hunger, and his hatred will grow. Being in a witch form allows him the time to ensure he stays in this vessel or moves to a human one, but no matter which vessel he takes he WILL NOT be struck back into an immortal body. Otherwise any dagger he finds heā€™ll plunge into his own undead heart.
ā¤œ What are some plots youā€™d like to explore with your character? Is everything too obvious? (lol). I want to explore all the things I talked about above ^^ his relationships, the creation of his coven, the use of magic because itā€™s been forever since I played a witch with an active power (not Kemiya), his distrust, his hatred, his kinder weaknesses, everything. I donā€™t think Vincent/Finn is readily offered in most RPā€™s so Iā€™m going to explore as much as I can. Bare with me while I fully get into his role though!
ā¤œ Para sample:
(Retained for privacy)
ā¤œ Would you like to be considered for another character if not accepted as your primary choice? No thank you I got my bae if you accept me <3 ā¤œ Have you read the rules?: Yes darlings <3 ā¤œ Anything else? Negative except LOVE ME PLS! xo

Trip to South Korea
Day 1 (Incheon, Gyeonggi and Gangwon):
Ā  Ā  Ā Ā Iā€™ve been planning this holiday since high school (but i know its really impossible for me). I love Korea (the culture, language, dramas, movie, variety show, actor and actress, not kpop) since i was a student in high school. In the first place, one of my friend introduce Running Man to me. Running Man is one of the famous variety show in Korea which began in 2010, and i started to watch and like Running Man in 2011. So, i began to know Korea from my friend through Running Man. Okay i think its enough to introduce all of you about how can i be a big fans of Korea, rite? Then, we can move on to the story about my trip to South Korea. Yeeeey!
Ā  Ā  Ā It began when someday (i think on July, 2016) my mother came to my room, and said ā€œwhy dont you go to some place in this holiday, my dear?ā€and i just answered ā€œi dont have friends that i can go withā€. But my mother still in my room like for few minutes. So, i asked ā€œwhy you ask?ā€and shockingly, my mother answered ā€œyou can go to Singapore or Malaysia with your homie friendsā€. At that time, i thought my mother is just playing with me, but at the same time, i really worried about her. When my mother, finally went out from my room, honestly, i asked some friends about my mother gave me a chance to go to Singapore or Malaysia (oh, for your information, i never went abroad before even to Singapore or Malaysia). Because of that, what my mother offered is a worrisome thing for me. After that, i dare myself to asked my mother about can i go to South Korea, instead to Singapore or Malaysia? And guess what my mother said, she said OK. So, i thought that my dreams since high school turns to became a very big possibility for me.
Ā  Ā  Ā On August 16, 2016, finally, i went to South Korea with a friend, her name is Shavira. Our flight at midnight with Korean Air. Oh, and i used a travel agent located in West Jakarta. My mother and my friendā€™s mother accompanied us to the airport. It took six hours from Jakarta, Indonesia to Incheon, South Korea. My activity when on the plane was watching She was Pretty on the planeā€™s television (which, i had been watching She was Pretty like a thousand time and i dont like the other recommendation on that television), and turboā€™s song, Again (in korea ā€œdasiā€) accompany my trip too. One of the good thing happened when me and my friend on the plane was we met a handsome steward from Korea, or should i say, really handsome (and im fully of regret because couldnā€™t take a photo with him). Along on the plane, me and my friend always stared at him and i always thought like ā€œwhy he didnā€™t become an actor, instead a steward?ā€ my friend always bothered me if that steward walked toward us. She became insane. But im not making this up, that steward is really charming and attractive, like Song Jong Ki or Rain (i use name of popular korean actor that easyly heard as example) they are nothing compared to the handsome steward. And im gonna miss him so much, until now (kekekek).
Ā  Ā  Ā After 6 hours in the air, i arrived at Incheon Airport. What i was remember when the plane still looking for the best spot to park, i used that time to saw everthing around the plane tracks. I also had steal time only to be silent and thought about all of the wonder that i felt at that moment. I felt peaceful and glad to be here.
Ā  Ā  Ā When at Incheon Airport, my tour guide gave some briefing session to me and the other participant. But, i was too busy looking for an wifi connection (i didnā€™t sign up with some internet quota, because its really expensive and i thought that in Korea, especially, in South Korea, internet connections is too good). And i was RIGHT. When i had just arrived at the airport, my cellphone was already connected with airportā€™s wifi without any password needed. After briefing session, we straight to the immigration gate. When it was my turn to face-to-face with the immigration officer, honestly i felt scared. The officer looked at me sharply and yes it was make me scared. She looked clearly to compares between my passport photo and my face. And she didnā€™t smile at all. After, immigration stuff done, i was taking time to change my clothes and straight to parking lot and rode on one of the bus which had been waited for us.
Ā  Ā  Ā At the bus, the tour guide from Indonesia introduce the other tour guide from South Korea, his name is Ahong. He can speak Indonesia very well. First impression of both of my tour guide is they are really funny and friendly person. They always made all of participant became one. Oh, and i really like all of the participant, and now, i miss them so much. Why? Because it was really weird, when you had just met new people or can i say stranger? You instantly feel so close to them. (iā€™ll tell about them slowly, step by step later).
Ā  Ā  Ā During the process of introducing, i was hungry. Fortunately, before i went to the parking lot, both of my tour guide gave me some time to buy some snacks. I was looking for supermarket at the airport and bought 2 onigiri with chicken and fish flavor (because i donā€™t eat pork and there were many onigiri with pork flavor). So, i pulled out my onigiri from my bag when both of my tour guide was busy with their introducing session. At that time, i was really confused about how to open this food?! It was so complex package. I started to remember one of the korean drama which iā€™ve been watched, Cheese in the Trap. In that drama, female lead role teach male lead role about how to open onigiri, but i was completely forgot and that time i really need to remember about that scene, argh stupid. Because of that starving made me like going to die, i just ripped carelessly the damn package of onigiri and the result was the rice from onigiri spread all over my pants.
Ā  Ā  Ā  My first destination was Petite France. Located at Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. During the trip, i was just amazed by street view along Incheon. Incheon is quiet town and very, very, very clean town. At the same time, Ahong as my korean tour guide was teaching me and the other participant about some or simple korean language and money. Like, how speak thank you in korea (kamsahamnida), how ask about more food in korea (kimchi, juseyo), how we say love in korea (saranghaeyo) and others. After that, Ahong was told us the story about people in korea money. He let us know about why 50.000 won (which is the most big denomination in korea money and equals Rp. 500.000) has pictures a heroine, instead male hero. He said that because the president of South Korea at that time was female, Park Geun Hye. So, i became to know that the 50.000 won was recently released.
Ā  Ā  Ā When arrived at Petite France, the weather was so hot (fyi, i went to South Korea when summer). Even when i was stepping out of the bus, the sun was really freakin me out. My eyes was sick even when i was just look at the streets, my skin felt burned inside and my sweat spilled everywhere. Its the best thing if i could just stayed at the bus, i wished. Fortunately, torture from the heat of Gyeonggi was worthy accepted. I should be grateful that i could came to Petite France, which is the shooting place one of the most korean drama, The Man who came from the Star. Petite France is full of house with french style. I walked up tired looking for the best spot for taking a photo. At the same time, i got new friends from the same travel agent, Irma and Yulia. We took turns to taking photos and i felt comfortable talking and chatting with them (and i was always with them when in Korea). I managed to take a photo with the statue of Kim So Hyun (male lead role from The Man who came from the Star) and Song Jong Ki (just popular korean actor and one of the best friend of Lee Kwang Soo = my love ^^). I was grateful eventhough it was just statue, because i took that photos in Korea, LOL.
Ā  Ā  Ā I should wear my sunglasses, always, when i was at Petite France. I dont know why, but Petite France is the hottest place of all the other place i visited in South, Korea. When i felt i already have a lot of photos and sighseeing, my tour guide told that we should proceed the journey to the next destination, Nami Island.
Ā  Ā  Ā When i arrived at the parking lot of Nami Island, me and the other participants decided to get some meal at a restaurant that near from the parking lot. I should say that when i went in to that restaurant i smelt something awful, like smell of dog, maybe? Because of that, i became less interested to eat, of course. But i was really love the place, it was like the restaurant that i often see in Korean Dramas. Like we, as customer should roast own flesh and the smoke will disappear through smoke filter right above the roaster. Menus of that day was meat, kimchi (as always), and seaweed soup. Mostly, the seaweed soup in Korea just serve when someoneā€™s birthday (saengil), in Indonesia like ā€˜oporā€™ is the most important food to serve when day of Eid.
Ā  Ā  Ā Because of so much happiness, i couldnā€™t stop smile at that time. I was still thinking about how can i be in this place, i mean, South Korea. And now, i could eat like korean people, put some meat on lettuce leaves, then add some chili sauce and devour all. So the taste would be amazing. I also was staring towards the other participants to see how they would react, is it the same with me, or its just me? I was kinda full because all of meat iā€™ve been swallowed. I thought i was being greedy because i never felt soft meat like that. I was not worried if i became fat. I was happy.
Ā  Ā  Ā After meals, i went earlier than the other participants to the parking lot because my stomache was sick, and it was not because foods iā€™ve eaten, it was because my menstruation. I took my herbal medicine on the bus while looked for wifi connection, because wifi connection isnā€™t available at the restaurant. After a long wait (in a awkward situation with bus driver), the other participants finally came and we straight to the boat that would take us cross over to Nami Island. Me and my friend decided to take place the outside of the boat, so we could see the view of Nami Island from afar. When many people prefer to stayed inside the boat and cool their bodies, because honestly i felt burned, really burned inside my bodies when i was at the outside of the boat. Probably only about 5 minutes, we already arrived at Nami Island.
Ā  Ā  Ā Nami island is an island that represents the four seasons in Korea. But, more famous because it was shooting place of the number one Korean Drama that made South Korea became famous in the eyes of the world (or i should say, big influence of korean style wave), the drama is Winter Sonata. The statue of lead role (Bae Yong Joon and Choi Ji Woo) is the most interesting spot at Nami Island. We were given a time of one hour to round the Nami Island by our tour guide. I saw many korean wearing short pants, and i was really envy with them. It was like i really want to take off my veil and throw it away, i felt burned inside. I felt dilemma at that time because the sun was forcing me to keep wearing sunglasses, while on the other side, i really want to see the view without sunglasses, but my eyes would get burned instead.
Ā  Ā  Ā That place was filled with young couples and they were so cute. Certainly, Nami Island is a right place for couples, because the place is so romantic. Until now, im still hope that i can come to that place again someday with people i love.
Ā  Ā  Ā We should walked a bit far from the gate of Nami until the statue of Bae Yong Joon and Choi Ji Woo. All of the spot in Nami Island was too good to taking photos. First, i decided to take photos in a famous spot where many trees lined so straight. I love walking in Nami Island, because the place covered in sand, instead of asphalt. I spoil my eyes with a calm feeling by saw all of the beautiful things in that island. Inside mind, I smiled and thankful.
Ā  Ā  Ā After a long walk and tired enough, finally me and my friend arrived at the famous statue. But we should queuing with other visitors if we want to take photos. Honestly, i never could finish watching Winter Sonata. Because in my opinion, the drama was too melow and just full of sadness and i personally prefer quiet and cheerful drama than melow and sad one.
Ā  Ā  Ā After success took a lot of photos with Bae Yong Joon (the male lead role of Winter Sonata), me and my friend get some rest on one of the benches near the creepy statue (like monster who give her son milk from the big breast). My leg got really hurt at that time, i thought it was because of my shoes which i used a heavy leather shoes. I used this break to chill my head also my bodies by stared into the sky and heard the melodious sound of the birds.
Ā  Ā  Ā I felt reborn after take a break at that time. Then, me and my friend decided to buy ice cream because my throat could feels the heat from Nami Island. After found the place that sells ice cream near a playground at the center of Island, i ran, like, because too scared that ice cream will be gone. But i was upset, because the price wasnā€™t in accordance with the size of the ice cream. It was 2.000 won (equals Rp.22.000) but the size like cone ice cream at McDonald that just cost almost Rp.6.000. Beside that, the taste was horrible. And yeah, i wasted my money for the useless thing, Urgh. Fortunately, the ice cream melt by itself because of the heat, so i donā€™t need to think hard about how and where i need to throw away this thing around the place as clean as this place?
Ā  Ā  Ā A few moments later, me and my friend already back at the gate of Nami Island with some participants and our tour guide. We waited another participants for a boat ride together before the night comes.
Ā  Ā  After walking for a long time in Island, i let my legs to get some rest at the bus, and my eyes slowly closed. I woke up right when we all arrived at the restaurant for dinner. The scene in front of the restaurant was very quiet and the sky was purple at that moment eventhough it was already 7 p.m (because summer, bright sky in Korea is longer than nights). Only a few cars passed on the road in front of the restaurant that i can say the road was quite large. And the cars passed by quickly.
Ā  Ā  Ā That night menu was bulgogi. The restaurant is lovely. We sat on the floor facing the short table and eat togethet as a family. Personally, i donā€™t really like bulgogi, but it doesnā€™t mean i would resist if i was given that food. The kimchi in this place was not good, i donā€™t like the taste, it was like food that has been long in the refrigerator. I could express a disgusted face when tried that kimchi. But i gave five starts to the bulgogi with soft japchae (angel hair in Korea).
Ā  Ā  Ā After dinner session, some of participants bought some souvenirs from the restaurant. At that time, me, Shavira, Irma and Yulia went out from the restaurant and enjoyed the view of quiet streets in front of that place before we end the journey to the hotel. I should say the atmosphere at that moment was really made me calm and donā€™t want to go home.
Ā  Ā  Ā When headed to the hotel, the bus was full with joke and chitchat among other participants and our lovely and humorous tour guide. We arrived at the hotel at almost 10 p.m. After distribution the room keys, me and my companion (Shavira, Irma and Yulia as always) decided to went to the supermarket before sleep. We just hang around by looked for our daily needs, like toothpaste, ramyoen, onigiri, milk, bread, towel, soap etc. After spent enough money, we headed to the hotel and filled the streets with laughing and casual chat.

Mino
Tumblr media
Youā€™ve been accepted to fuckboy rp! Check your tumblr messages for the adminā€™s links and add us within 48 hours please. Welcome to the fam!
ICĀ  Name/s - Song Mino Group or Occupation - WINNER Company - YG
OOC Age - 20 Time Zone - Ā CST Tell us about your muse in 100 words or more -Ā
Song Mino is the cutest friend one can have to be honest. By cute, I mean the type to be real extra about everything but not in the annoying way, to genuinely compliment someone about something he likes, and just expressing himself in the nicest ways that make him a cute ass person to be around (obv heā€™s attractive af too). He adores his friends and makes sure to keep in contact with those he truly cares for. Not only does he want to succeed in life, heā€™s the type that also want his friends to succeed and wants to be someone to help them as they surely have for him as well (he mostly surrounds himself with /good/ people). He loves music, particularly hip hop but will never restrict himself to the genre due to his vast artistic eye thatā€™s very open minded and accepting of most genres. This also applies to life in general because heā€™s so kind, he gives everything a chance before deciding that he doesnā€™t like it. And aside from the wholesome description that is Song Mino, the kidā€™s also apparently a sex icon??? and he fucking knows it too. Will purposely go from being the sweetest older brother figure to instant Daddy with a mere change of glance. On purpose. Though he may be nice and sweet and all, heā€™s clever. Smart. Just reading his lyrics gives a small glimpse of his fiery nature. And I have no doubt that he uses that sly cleverness about him to get where he needs to be. Go where he needs to go. Take what he wants, do what he wants. YG may be restricting, but heā€™s slowly pushing his boundaries, and Iā€™m so lit for it.
Tell us about how you like to rp - I like to rp action for basic plots like going to eat, hanging out not doing a damn thing, basically more dialogue based plots i prefer action since itā€™s more like a script. For more serious plots or planned plots, I prefer para since thereā€™s some kind of backstory and plan to it. Usually these will be significant turning points in my museā€™s life and require a certain amount of detail that fits to my liking (i ramble af but I feel the need to say everything that needs to be said when I para). It needs to set a scene yknow? I donā€™t mind where the writing is, messages or wall is fine, but just a forewarning that if Iā€™m really into say, a post that starts out as action, Iā€™ll probably end up turning it into some kind of short para.. which is good! but I take a while replying. bulbasaur. lol Questions for idol applicantsĀ  Write about 2 friendships your muse has in real life (not au) with people who arenā€™t in their group -Ā
P.O - Pyo Jihoon of Block B is Minoā€™s long time best friend. They met in high school and like found themselves in each other (theyā€™re both goofballs with deep voices and a tendency to gain weight easily lol) and pretty much have been thick as thieves since.
Incredivle - Hyuntae is another close friend of Minoā€™s too. Heā€™s like the third musketeer to their squad. Deep voiced rapper but not as goofy as the duo. Still theyā€™ve been close for some time, donā€™t remember if itā€™s as along as his relationship with Jihoon but they all go way back.Ā
Explain the way that your muse feels about at least 2 members currently within their group-Ā
Seunghoon - Mino is happy with the fact that within the group, he has someone he can be mostly himself with. Seunghoon serves as that person. Heā€™s similar to him on the goofy standpoint, but also more friendlier than the others since he was the one to initiate accepting Mino so late on his arrival at YG. Think heā€™s probably the closest to Mino out of them all but of course I wouldnā€™t know for sure.
Seungyoon - The leader of the group, and also the first to debut of the then quintet, he serves as a position of wisdom to Mino if age is put aside. Seungyoonā€™s relationship with Mino is more music then anything, since most of what they do together is music or fashion related. Business relationship with friendly ties. Of course theyā€™re comfortable around each other as group members but as a pair they just work better together when a common goal is involved.
How would your muse react upon meeting a non idol who doesnā€™t know who they are?-Ā
Mino would introduce himself, expect this person to know them of course more specifically if theyā€™re korean, and be lightly shocked if they didnā€™t. Because SMTM and YG spread his name like wildfire, this naturally would be shocking news. But in the heat of the moment, after the not so hidden brow raise, he wouldnā€™t mention it until later, if the subject comes up regarding career and such. Interacting with someone who doesnā€™t know him is beginning to feel highly uncertain as time goes on and his fame grows more, so he would utilize this moment to forget his idol status and just be himself. Not that he doesnā€™t let loose as an idol as well, but more in the way where he doesnā€™t have to think of this and that famous personā€™s name and what they did last weekend or who this and that producer dropped on so and so dateā€“ none of that kind of talk. General non-idol talk like which restaurants are the best or how school is going if this non idol person is a student or even the latest memes online if theyā€™re into that sort of thing. Heā€™d fully utilize the moment to interact with this person as a regular human being before the news of his status spills.

Coming Attractions!
A day late, whoopsā€¦ah well. Letā€™s pretend itā€™s still the first Monday of the month, which means Coming Attractions!
Also, as a reminder, I have set up a Discord server for my writing--basically intended to be an extension/more interactive version of this blog. Feel free to stop by and say hi!
Short update this month, because Iā€¦did not get a whole lot done last month, whoops. Uh, I was possibly going to do Camp NaNo for July but I didnā€™t get my thoughts organized in timeā€¦but anyway, a quick overview of goals for the month! I think I did some more prompt ficlets since the last update? But we havenā€™t had any rounds latelyā€¦anyway, those can be found in the tag. I also did a couple things for a prompt meme on DW. Other than thatā€¦itā€™s been a quiet month on my end.
I really, genuinely, I swear, actually will finish this arc of Precipice in July, lol. Hopefully get at least one chapter of Preludes and/or Protectors out as well, but if I can just get these last two chapters done, I will be Happy. Thereā€™s basicallyā€¦four or five scenes left? One bit with Obi-Wan and Anakin and Artoo and Dr. Naar thatā€™s been very slow going and is really like two or three half-scenes sort of cobbled together; a bit with Bail and Ahsoka and Rex and Leia (which is also...a couple half-scenes stitched together, lol); a bit with Sidious and Lavinia thatā€™s mostly finished; and a Padme POV scene to close out the arc. Right now, the plan is for these to go into two chapters, and then weā€™re done!
Preludes will probably get posted out of order, since itā€™s backfilling stuff in the skip between arc 7 and arc 8, but at minimum it will deal with Palpatineā€™s next apprentice, some of what the Ghost Crew gets up to in this AU, and probably Maul will show up. The first one will probably be a scene/sequence with Kallus and Lavinia, but thereā€™s a couple other possibilities Iā€™m contemplating as well (Hondo facilitating some contacts, what the hell has Maul been up to, Apprentice #5ā€™s debutā€¦weā€™ll see!)
And, since yā€™all have been So Patient with my lack of updates the last few months, hereā€™s a teaser for one of the first few chapters of Protectors!
ā€œYou need to move,ā€ Obi-Wan said, quietly. ā€œI donā€™t think the message can be traced to you, but if the Empire starts looking closer at the planetā€¦ā€
Owen seemed about to object, but Beru put her hand on his. ā€œWe understand,ā€ she said. ā€œI know thereā€™s a contingency, but Iā€™m not clear on the details.ā€
ā€œPack,ā€ Obi-Wan said. ā€œWeā€™ll stage it like the farmā€™s been attacked.ā€
ā€œWill we be able to come back? Eventually?ā€ Owen asked.
ā€œI hope so,ā€ he said, but he refused to promise more than he could be sure to deliver. ā€œAnd there will be...enough to rebuild from, if you do.ā€
ā€œSand people,ā€ Owen guessed, voice hard.
ā€œYes,ā€ he said. ā€œCredible, at least to fool any Imperial patrols that come by. The locals may suspect, but if they doā€¦ā€
ā€œTheyā€™ll most likely suspect itā€™s the Empire or Jabba covering something up,ā€ Beru finished for him. ā€œWhere will we go?ā€
ā€œAlderaan,ā€ Obi-Wan said. ā€œOr Chandrilla. Whichever has a sooner flight.ā€ Given a choice, his personal preference would be for Alderaan--if only because Senator Mothma had been the one to take their movement public, and Bailā€™s reputation was still more or less unimpeachable. But either would serve to keep the Larses safe.
ā€œThatā€™s far,ā€ Owen said.
ā€œIt will keep you safe,ā€ he said.
In other SW fic news...well, as implied above, I am hoping to get at least one Precipice update out this week, but Iā€™m not 100% solid on that, since I also have an exchange fic I need to finish for next Monday. Iā€™mā€¦behind, lol; there was a lot of waffling back and forth on exactly what I wanted to do for it. But Iā€™m on track now! And I thrive on tight externally-imposed deadlines so Iā€™m not worried about finishing XD.
I am still working on OFLAM, and a new dragonshifters AU Iā€™ve started building, off and on. Iā€™m still sorting out some details for the latter, especially in terms of how many people know about Anakin being a shifter (I wouldā€¦like to keep it to the bare minimum as of when the Clone Wars starts, meaning while Obi-Wan probably knows the rest of the Order somehow doesnā€™t? So itā€™s like a Big Deal when Padme and Ahsoka find out). Most of what Iā€™ve actually written has to do with my girl Bo-Katan, though Iā€™ve done a bit with Padme and Anakin as well. Iā€™m also still. Uh. Searching for an actual Plot??? Beyond just ā€˜this is a cool concept and thereā€™s significantly/interestingly Different cultural baggage for my three shifters,ā€™ which is about where I am now. Anyway, probably either the shifters AU or OFLAM will end up being my SWBB project for next year, unless I get struck by another interesting ObiAniDala concept, which has been whatā€™s happened the last two years, lolā€¦
In other fandom/non-SW fic news, as I think I mentioned last month, Iā€™ve started drifting back into ATLA fandom. Rereading some of my old fics/RPs, toying with plots/concepts/crossovers of varying levels of self-indulgenceā€¦Iā€™m not sure Iā€™m actually going to write anything, but itā€™s definitely a possibility? If nothing else, I might flesh out/fulltext some of the super self-indulgent stuff Iā€™ve been playing with, just to get it on paper and out of my head. Or I might put together something postable (although the one thatā€™s getting the most traction in my brain actually might work better if I file the serial numbers off and put it into an original storyā€¦who knows.) Iā€™m also going to do an organized rewatch of my own at some point (my roommateā€™s been watching the series, but Iā€™m in and out while she does so I keep missing bits) which will probably finalize any nebulous plans I might have. Anyway, I donā€™t think ATLA is going to drag me out of SW but Iā€™ll possibly/probably be writing for both for a while? Which I donā€™t plan to impact Precipice, and I do plan to do BB next year as discussed above, but if this does start happening, other projects will probably be put even more on the back burner/on hold for a while. Weā€™ll see, weā€™ll seeā€¦
Iā€™m also hoping to get some original stuff done this month, because I feel like Iā€™ve been neglecting my own stuff even more than my fic projects lately, lolā€¦
Anyway, this weekend, Iā€™m hoping to get a good bit of writing done. Iā€™ll be somewhere quiet with minimal internet access for a couple days (at least thatā€™s the way itā€™s been when Iā€™ve been there before, it might have changed since then, who knows). So I probably wonā€™t get distracted by variants of 2048 (that Doctor Who one I donā€™t even go there AND YET) or watching Netflix orā€¦though I may be bringing my lacework, which also takes a fair amount of time away from writing, soā€¦weā€™ll see XD
ā€¦anyway, this turned out a lot longer than I thought it would. So much for a short update! But in the meantime, what have you guys been up to? Any plans/projects in the pipeline? Open question night? Whatā€™s on your mind?
