-main ships are peter/quagmire and peter/joe. huge ship wars over them in 2015. nowadays though the fandom is more progressive and cool and a lot of people ship peter/quagmire/joe or peter/lois/quagmire or peter/lois/joe/bonnie or even peter/lois/joe/bonnie/quagmire.

-these are all shorted to p+l+j+b+q or whatever. or just like pljbq. lots of jokes about fandom newbies not understanding all the ship abbreviations.

-surprisingly there is a relatively large amount of ship art of lisa simpson x meg that everyone claims to ship so hard but then you go on ao3 and there are like. 3 fics.

Canonically, Kendall attended Buckley as an undergrad, but it didn’t flow how I wanted, so it’s not what happened. I’m insane and Succession is vague, so it worked out.

Jess was born August 5th. Happy birthday, girl! Does the date align zodiac-wise? Someone tell me. I'm not changing it, though.

College!Kendall applied twice for Business at the Lampoon but didn’t make it until his Senior year, poor guy. He deflected every time someone asked — “It was time spent honing my craft."

Jess’s second dress. Lots of periwinkle blues, I know, but I imagine she favors dusty shades. (Very young she read a Seventeen magazine article that detailed skin seasons, and though she's older and wiser — a Harvard graduate, fanonically — there's a part of her that dresses in accordance with her undertone. Call it superstitious loyalty.)

God, this feels like Christmas and I’m on time with presents this year. I’m unveiling the title of my upcoming continuation of Kendall and Jess! Renegade. The new smutty fans that have discovered Diana and Stewie and BG and other vets in the league are so fucking weird and honestly feel like they keep ruining this space which has otherwise been really chill and I used to come here over like TikTok, Instagram and Twitter because it was more chill and calm and people actually talked about hoops. But I feel like so many of them were already weird about college players this way and now that they've finally made the leap over into the WNBA and now all that weirdness is all over the WNBA spaces doing all that with all the vets. Idk, I've been watching for 10 years but you seem like you've been following the league for many more years, has this stuff always existed or were people just better at hiding it? Like the fanfic was bad enough when it was these people writing self insert getting it from players but starting to add players' friends and teammates to the mix of their stuff is just genuinely disorienting and strange. And they'll whine like omg just block us but I shouldn't have to keep blocking people because this nonsense KEEPS popping up from other people even after you get rid of one. Like can we just be normal and enjoy the hoops. If you wanna think players are hot, okay, we're not all blind. But some of this now is deeply weird and I honestly miss the WNBA before all of these people showed up. It's very much giving WOSO fandom when they'd constantly write smut and started writing ship stuff too left and right and eventually players' friendships got ruined or strained because it took on such a life of its own with that fandom. As far as I've known the WNBA has been spared of that, it's a bummer to think that might not be true anymore.

I've been on this website a while and I never saw any WBB smut on tumblr before May 2024.

I'm very attracted to a lot of these players. And I'm not shy about that online or offline. I love being obsessed with players. To me, obsession means needing to know what these players are doing and saying. I love to know their opinions on things.

But the RPF hobby is different because it's about turning real people into completely different characters. And that just doesn't interest me because I only care what these players think, not what anonymous writers think.

The boom in fanfiction has not led to a boom in other types of WNBA fan content on tumblr. So tumblr smut hobbyists aren't really participating in the full WNBA fandom. They're only using WNBA veterans as props for their hobby.

Only a dozen blogs consistently post about games and interviews and fun moments from practices. And I remember all those blogs existing before May 2024. So the safe-for-work side of WBB tumblr hasn't grown much. If this side of tumblr grew just as much as the NSFW side, I'd have no complaints. But the uneven growth is weird. There's other ways to appreciate basketball besides masturbating but you wouldn't know that if you were only on tumblr 😂

Oh, this. I love it, but the practical side of my brain breaks out into a cold sweat when I think about it. The concept as teased out on my innocent blog (ha) is basically three stories in one universe - again - and I know from experience that's a lot to take on at once. There's a reason why I didn't wind up fleshing out a lot of stuff in DYWGU.

Practicalities aside, because we know I'm not as driven by practicality as I could be, this is all to say that, yes, I have been thinking about this AU. A lot of it has been about structure, because structure would dictate a lot - is it three stories all happening in one fic, or three distinct stories happening in one universe? I had a thought about it being one monster of a fic with Bea/Naomi/Roman being POV characters whose stories wove in and out of each others', but it would be such a tremendous effort that it would probably eliminate any chance of me juggling as many fics as I normally do. At the time of YKWniverse, that was my only project.

Uh, more to what I think you were asking, as narrative/character ideas. I spent a good amount of time (buses are good for this) conceptualizing the Kendall/Naomi relationship outside of what we saw, but specifically from Naomi's angle. Historically, Naomi has not had much success in relationships. She's fun at a party and can be affectionate and warm in her own way, but she's very insecure, and has a habit of letting boundaries get pushed through even on accident. Kendall has/had many faults, but he had a deep understanding of where Naomi was coming from, and respected her boundaries. At the time of Kendall's death, Naomi's decided it's do-or-die with Kendall, and was on the verge of suggesting a serious step or running away from the possibility of a real, full relationship in inexperienced terror. Naomi has never been seen the way she's been seen by Kendall, and it's true for Kendall as well. That night in the helicopter was transcendent for both in a way - not love at first sight, but deep connection at first high.

When it comes to Stewy and Kendall's death, it wrecks him in a single blow. He's Stewy, though, so he falls into a deep depression and tortures himself with the past and what might have been had he reached out with more effort, but makes a serious effort to engage with the world around him only for it to become very clear he shouldn't. Roman is the one who finally convinces him, after hearing enough gossip, to step aside for a time and just try to survive the worst of the grief. Stewy can't even bring himself to talk about it, and devotes himself wholly to listening to Roman instead, because he needs it - Stewy certainly doesn't, right? - and god knows Stewy's used to listening to Roys talk. It's a long time before Stewy brings himself to ever mention how deep the relationship and the scarring with regards to Kendall goes.

Bea is the simplest arc here, by sight alone - Kendall's daughter, addict, beloved of her family, and heiress to the throne, trying to put the pieces of the past together. I think this turns into a story of generational trauma, not just of Bea, but how Logan's parenting impacted not only his children but his children's children, including Iverson, Sophie, any kids Roman and Stewy have, and Bea. The parents are still deeply impacted by the events and will push back on anyone trying to dig it back up, but once Bea starts to dig she won't be alone.

God it took forever to write this ask. Lol. I'm so grateful it didn't refresh midway like it did one time I wrote one of these.

i agree. i'm not going to spend too much time on the ghostly topic any more because i frankly think this should've ended days ago. i don't know ghostly personally, everything i've seen comes from ghostly, stewie, and kermit's blogs. i'm not here to justify ghostly's harmful actions or behavior and everyone's entitled to feel how they want on it. ghostly apologized and has claimed they want to do better. running to other rpts and continuing to whine about what ghostly's done is real mature.

no yeah that’s a valid perspective! i think that (a small part of) stewy is in denial over how much he cares, which makes him “fit” w the roys and the professionals that surround him more seamlessly (always a performer); he knows how to act to get what he wants (something the roys do not know how to do all the time). he shows his love with varying degrees of “social normalcy” (physical touch vs for example the trojan horse) just as the roys do (any of the times they kiss each other upon meeting up vs hug of death to put roman down in the finale). a lot of this comes down to performance vs honesty. the siblings’ love for each other, for all their other neuroses, tends to be honest. we don’t know enough about stewy to absolutely say the same.

we could dissect every second of screen time to determine the ways kendall roman and shiv are able versus unable to “perform” or “exhibit” love per social standards and structures and we still wouldn’t have clear answers—**and it really doesn’t fucking matter how they show the love because the love is undeniably there!!!!** the tit-for-tat would be endless: stewy does show his love in socially typical ways (which is up to interpretation as well!! you could think he’s being primarily manipulative when he touches ken on screen. i just don’t think that personally); the roys MATCH HIM in that sense—a hug after daddy dies, holding hands to tell their brother the news: the tragedy of losing someone who they needed MORE THAN ANYONE ELSE to love them is the inciting action for them falling onto the next most similar form of love: their siblings. thus the development of the sibs’ relationships through s4, clinging then pushing away, kissing and biting, their father’s children all the way through. we don’t get to see stewy with anyone other than the roys, sandies, the old guard, hired staff, and briefly & from a distance josh. so there’s not much in the source material to prove he has a greater capacity for love! which is why i totally understand where you’re coming from!

i really don’t want this to seem like i think all the roys are is monstrous. if you’ve spent 2 seconds on my blog you know i don’t think that so i am assuming you’re asking this in good faith!!!!

to pivot slightly, when i write about kenstewy’s love specifically, i’m not saying stewy’s love is “better” or “worth more” or “realer” than the roys’, but i think STEWY feels like it means that—specifically he thinks he loves kendall better than anyone else does. since i write so much from stewy’s perspective i bet it seems like i’m saying that all the time lol, and when i write from kendall’s perspective i write him in a way where he’s obsessed w how much he loves stewy & stewy loves him, because to his father/family it WAS quantifiable. ratable. whatever

Yes! Roman really seems to be gravitating more and more to Gerri as things with the family get more and more fractured, which makes sense. It seems to be something Gerri's feeding too – I think both because she really does like Roman and sees his potential, but also because I think she really needs a Roy on Team Gerri right now with the way Logan's playing games and strongarming her.

Gosh, she has to be seeing how everyone's treating Shiv too, and while Gerri has the longstanding evidence of her capabilities and the relationships to at least be taken seriously, she also has more personal baggage with the staff than Shiv does – abandoning Frank in the 1.06 coup for instance.

It's going to be so interesting to see how it plays out, because I really think it could go either way at this point. Roman clearly has real feelings for Gerri, but what does that even mean to the Roys? They're all tragically willing to sacrifice and use genuine relationships for Logan's approval (Shiv and Tom being, of course, the biggest, but also Shiv and Gil, Kendall and Naomi and Kendall and Stewy), but Roman's also never been asked to give up a relationship in the same way that Shiv and Kendall have, at least not that we've seen.

Love and power are so entwined on this show generally, and the way love weakens power and power poisons love is something that resonates in all the relationships, so what that means for Roman and Gerri, I have no idea, but I can't wait to find out!
