i have this headcanon that percy and annabeth are raging accidental flirts. but not with each other. like. they'll go to the coffee shop on fifteenth street. and compliment the barista on his hair and clothes and tip really well. but only for him. and they have no idea this boy is absolutely swooning over them. or. each time they to go the bakery downtown. they take the time to converse with the waitress at the counter as they eat her homemade muffins. and are incredibly vocal about how she's their favorite server. and how much they enjoy seeing her. and suddenly they're the only two customers that can get her services for free. except, they just think she's like that with everyone.

max and daniel forever meant to be two guys who shouldn't have ever been friends; teammates during hard establishing years, a significant age gap between them both, a wonder rookie vs. a man staking his claim. yet, they've simply only ever been able to talk about each other with reverence. even during tough team mate days, the edge of anger had levels of respect to it. and as years have grown, that respect has grown with it. it's a testament to both of their characters that they simply think so highly of one another.

#i often times no longer really think about them as maxiel. and that's for reasons that are too long for tags.#but i find it heartwarming these days to think about them as the life long friends i truly believe they are going to be.#it's forever 'if it can't be me i'm glad it's max' and that's truly what friendship and respect is. being proud of them for their highs.#and i don't think max will ever forget the kindness daniel awarded him in a sport that was so initially unwelcoming to him.#i just think with a history like that they're two people who will forever remain close.

I think it's really annoying that leo has completely falsified memories of jason too and this is barely acknowledged in the books

#it is also barely acknowledged by the fandom but I blame the books for that #call me crazy but I think that's a big deal actually!#he grew up with nothing! no close friends! now his memories of his best friends are fake!#the whole tlh gang obviously become close in the end but I just think leo and jason in particular warranted more thought #rick clearly doesn't dwell on it with leo bc friendships and romance are not given the same weight #one of the first things pov jason says about leo is “if someone like this guy is my friend then my life must be messed up”#(not a callout of jason I think it was hilarious and understandable. he is So Confused)#but idk instead leo's reaction in the books is mostly framed as Ok finally I don't have to be the third wheel anymore #Wait fuck they're dating again anyway!#which is also understandable but I would love to also see him Struggle More with the fact that those memories aren't even real to begin wit #something something friendships are just as valuable and significant and consequential as romances #leo valdez #jason grace #rr crit #<- this is barely a fleshed out criticism of the books themselves but just in case #pjo hoo toa #I could say something about how people hate jiper for this same reason but I won't bc I don't care about jiper really #beyond my general feelings that the way their breakup was written was one of rick's worst writing moments

JA: Yeah, and then also playing that off against that tension and the aftermath of some of those fights. It suddenly rebuilds this sexual and emotional tension. Like you said, you get to explore the breadth of a relationship. But yeah, they’re each other’s endgame, aren’t they? In the books, they always come home to each other. I think it’s telling that that seems to be the denouement or the end of a lot of the novels: Louis and Lestat being petty and in love.
