Most of these are just reflections of the characters themselves but there's some stuff in here from my last relationship.

Just to clarify, I don't see the characters as this bad, this is just for fun/venting purposes, I'm not condoning this behavior irl... It's just some thoughts I had about some of their toxic behaviors and if they were already older. I'm not saying any of them would do this in canon 🤡👍🏽 Unless their morals dropped dramatically for some reason idk

(I was groomed at age 11-12 by somebody 12 years older than me for 6 years so I think I have some experience in the toxic relationship department lol)

-Most of these are just like. Red flags they have that have been amplified to the max. Like how I say Aiden getting Ash expensive gifts isn't necessarily a bad thing, but here it reaches a toxic level. Like Aiden getting Ash things so expensive she can't hope to pay him back, or things that have to do with her livelihood (a car, renting an apartment, etc etc). Then he'll be like guilt tripping her that they spent all this money on you when she literally didn't ask bro. Wants to scream at him to take it back but like...she needs it tho so she's gonna shut up...

-Its really easy to make Aiden toxic cuz like he already has some behavioural problems haha 🫠

-Lowkey Ash is the type to rip Aiden a new one when her patience snaps. She has so much she wants to get into (pushing her boundaries, being an idiot, giving her a heart attack from stress, "ruining her life" if she's really over everything)

-He would threaten or actually go through with SH for her attention 🫠 pain doesn't really mean anything for him, it hurts worse when she leaves anyways... (SO glad I'm over that)

-She ignores/avoids him for long periods of time without actually telling him what's wrong because fuck it communicating is hard and like why even bother because she thinks he won't listen anyways (GIRL you have to ACTUALLY say smth)

-But I mean who can blame her cuz Aiden is real into that toxic positivity crap and likes to ignore all the problems in the relationship and tells everybody that everything is great (she does too don't worry) (worry.)

-Shes a bit of a hypocrite sometimes cuz she likes to ignore Aiden when he's getting on her nerves but she can't take it if HE'S ignoring her for once. She says she's just suspicious of what he's doing but. You know. Not that he would leave her but like if he did try she would. Not take it very well?? Aiden would be impressed.

-he's kind of. Weird. I don't really know how to explain it he just has like. A Weird Aura. Around her especially. Says weird things, sometimes inappropriate or threatening. But Ash literally feels like she's going crazy because he's ALWAYS like that so she can't tell that it's not normal or if he's just. Weird.

-They're the kind of couple to bruise each other's wrists ♥️ /sarcasm

-He'll push her boundaries and ignore her a lot because like he doesn't understand that she's being serious and that not everybody likes the things he likes. Grabs and touches and holds her a lot even when she doesn't want him too. Sometimes she goes along tho because she thinks it's not normal to dislike touching in a relationship or that she just needs to put in more effort (I'm projecting so hard rn) Also thanks to my bestie for this one! She's so smart

-Both possessive and overprotective little freaks. I feel like Ash would kill somebody for him and then she'd just fucking spiral and have a mental breakdown and the love-hate relationship would get worse, and if Aiden did it he'd just be "lol. Lmao."

-Loss of identity and self for both of them. Aiden has that disciple complex and his life pretty much revolves around Ash. Ash feels like she fell down a rabbit hole....

-he has no sense of consequences, his self destructive behaviors would be WAY worse here and can include Ash at the same time (like going over the speed limit while they're both in the car)

-but also she like lowkey enables his behavior because she knows that to stop it she'd have to leave him and she doesn't want to be without him. She definitely excuses his behavior to other people even tho she'll get on his ass about it-

-bit stalkerish and follows her around, she knows he's doing it tho- but yeah he won't leave her alone most of the time 🫠

-She goes into nervous breakdowns. Starts throwing stuff at him and when he gets closer she'll hit him, and he just holds her until she tires herself out.

-Oh man, he's pretty much addicted to her. She saved him, breathed life into his existence, made him feel alive for the first time in years, and what a euphoric feeling that is for him.

-Ash feels like she has to walk on eggshells around him because she doesn't understand what sets him off. She's generally more worried about him doing something to other people or himself than her own safety tho.

-They're really awful for each other but like. There's really nobody else for them, they just have to not get other people involved in the forest fire that is their relationship (The rest of the gang: 🧍‍♂️🧍‍♂️🧍‍♂️🧍‍♀️)

-Aiden and Ash: *literally just standing next to each other*

Aiden: *Looks at Ash*

Ash: ...?

I think people can’t separate their dislike of a driver and the performance of that driver. If they don’t like them, that means they are bad and they can’t say anything positive about them. It’s weird. I have drivers I don’t like and I can still admit when they have done well in race or over a season. It feels like, and then is sometimes confirmed by some fans, that they don’t actually watch the races and just want to jump on the hate train cause it seems to be trendy… even though some fans just look kinda insane with how obsessed they get over hating someone who will never know they exist…

Yes, I 100% agree anon! I genuinely don't think certain people realize that everything isn't black and white, a lot of the time it's all shades of grey. Most people should be able to acknowledge a good performance from a driver they don't like but some of them refuse to at least try to be objective and, as you correctly said anon, they just want to jump on the hate train, especially if the hate train is for the driver who's trendy and popular to hate on at the minute (at the moment it's Max, soon it'll be another driver, the cycle simply goes on and on). A lot of people do think that if they don't like a driver then no one should be allowed to say anything positive about them and they will then actively hate on the people who dare say something positive about said driver.

And you're right, some people don't seem to actually watch the races and simply remember things happening the way they want them to, so they can twist what actually happened to fit whatever narrative they're trying to sell (there's so many examples but on Twitter recently, someone was blaming red bull for Max's tyre failure in Baku and saying that they had planned it so that Max could get new tyres and that's why Red bull was asking for a red flag, ignoring that the exact same tyre problem also earlier took Lance, who's with a completely different team, out of the race, that driver safety was in question because of the crash and that Max was taken out of the race the minute he hit the barrier, so red bull were asking for a red flag along with drivers like Charles because driver safety was in question).

Same anon, there are drivers I don't particularly care for or like but I can also acknowledge when they've had a good race or season and I certainly don't post hate about them. Like people don't have to like every driver, but it's very concerning when the majority of someone's posts are pure hate directed at a driver, who as you said anon, will never know they exist.

I genuinely don't get it, it's far easier and far more relaxing to simply ignore the driver you dislike and focus on the drivers who actually make you happy. Life is far too short to waste on such stupid hate anyway.

Okay, so the new smoshcast: I know Ian briefly addressed the lack of POC, but the way he said it (and I'm not an expert on mannerisms in any way) sounded like he was tired. Like, the draining kind. I know that Ian has been described as someone who works way too hard and doesn't give himself enough credit, and Noah said he's good at "acting on information," so I have this weird hunch that Ian's trying to handle everything (and maybe other discourse) before addressing it publicly? I hope. Idk.

ooh interesting take. i gotta say, i mostly trust ian but for some reason it set off red flags in my mind when he emphasized that they "sunk thousands upon thousands upon thousands of dollars" (45:14) into diversifying the company. just the focus on money and the strenuous effort....... it's as if it's treated more as a burden than a goal, yknow? but idk, that could just be wording or ian's dry ass tone or me being ignorant about how money plays into all this. i know a lot of this is strictly business for a lot of people, even and especially for poc, so i sort of like the idea that ian is just trying his best and equally tired of the bullshit lmao.

at least at this point, i can't imagine that the folks at smo/sh are completely unaware of the sort of feedback/criticism they've been receiving lately. whether or not they're actually doing anything about it is sort hidden from us viewers, but the crew definitely seems diverse, and i suppose we can take the word of the people we heard in this episode of the smo/shcast. though, since we're on the topic of this episode, if i can just say...

i'm not sure if there was anything in that smo/shcast that was exactly new or even surprising? which isn't bad per se; i know the point of these episodes aren't strictly to "entertain", and anyway, olivia and noah aren't obligated to explain the extended reasoning behind their switch to freelancing... BUT i will say, in my opinion, this episode seemed very pointed in all the decisions surrounding it (the timing of the upload, the title of the episode, the description listed on spotify), yet the content didn't seem to quite match. like i thought it was going to be an episode that, at least for maybe a quarter of the ep, focused on noah and olivia's switch to freelance, and i felt like the entirety of that subject was discussed for like? two minutes max? like all i know is that a) defy fucked them up bigtime and b) for noah it was a decision of "less money vs. more time", but other than that, i still got the vibe that this wasn't a topic anybody really wanted to talk about, for one reason or another. so i'm not quite sure why the episode was branded in that way, if not to just.... appease the fans who were talking about it? like it didn't really answer any of my questions but it felt like they made this episode to pretend that they did, lmao..?

those are just my thoughts tho. i was still quite happy and relieved to finally hear that they were, in fact, freelancing, and i know a lot of other fans had the same feelings.

Eleven was being a a hole too. Having tantrums at Hooper in the cabin because she missed Mike (Though Hooper deserved some of that too), and being jealous of Max without context and hurting her. Mike and Eleven are the main couple but that doesn't mean they aren't flawed or their relationship isn't flawed (they're really possessive about each other.) they'll have to learn how to be more mature

That's actually why Lucas and Max have a great relationship. It's not an epic drama like Mike and Eleven but they at least communicate and are mature with each other. It's no wonder she took to Lucas. Mike was an a hole, Dustin was hot and cold with her, trying to impress her. Will had his own shit to deal with. Lucas was straight up honest with her.

tbh i don’t blame hopper or eleven for how they acted when in the cabin. i have a lot to say so i’m gonna put this behind a read more.

eleven had been held captive and used her whole life, then she escaped and had one week of relative freedom and then spent about a month hiding in the woods. so when hopper brought her to his cabin it wasn’t under the same circumstances as being at hawkins lab but she still couldn’t leave. that frustration added with wanting to see mike and her being an emotional teenager is what caused her to act the way she did. she’s a kid. a kid with a unique upbringing but a kid nonetheless and i can’t fault her for not heeding certain rules or getting emotional. 

for us viewers we instantly saw the connection to hopper raising eleven and his dead daughter sara. we saw that while eleven isn’t a replacement he’s just as protective of her because he doesn’t want anything to happen to her. this is the same reason he goes with joyce and will whenever will has an appointment. he’s just looking out for the kids well-being. that’s the same reason he made the deal with dr. brenner to give him eleven’s location while ensuring that he and joyce can safely retrieve will and that the boys will be left unharmed. he’s a cop for a reason and the hollywood version is to serve and protect. when eleven finds out about sara she instantly understands hopper being overprotective. 

the being jealous of max thing was straight up bs and i blame the dumber brothers for that bullshit. i know she was watching soaps which i guess would influence her but the dumber brothers wrote that shit in so it’s their fault.

eleven and mike is cute until you sit back and realize that she’s the kiddie version of born sexy yesterday. i hate saying that because creeps sexualizing the children but i do because she’s ignorant in the ways of being a regular child because of her very restricted childhood and she latches onto the first boy her age who’s nice to her and that’s that whole trope right there. if she hadn’t spent her time with hopper pining for mike (mike alone not all 3 boys who were people she considered her friends) and mike had not been a clearly depressed mess, i would like it a lot better. 

as for lucas and max i agree. they are both mentally in the same age group and they can make decisions based on that. (idk if that makes sense but that’s literally the only way i can say it.) 

the way the other boys acted definitely had a hand in how she saw them. dustin was nice until she was seen with lucas which was a big red flag for her, we don’t know that her stepdad doesn’t hit everyone in the house and not just billy. mike was an ass from jump street for no reason whatsoever. will was nice but he also had his own issues which she didn’t understand though she wanted to. lucas while keeping secrets was actively trying to include her into his friend group. i like the lucas and max relationship but i also like caleb and sadie’s realistic take on that these are kids in the 8th grade and that they might not even last that long. it’s a cute ship imo.
