if i watch to dear myself i think it will fuck me up for months lol ToT

like. go ahead? dealt with some dark topics BUT i knew the wholesome family at the center of it would be hopeful and optimistic and give me HOPE after the show that life CAN be good it DOES have the capability.

i sincerely dread that to dear myself’s main message might be ‘see how fucked up life can be’ and then... thats it roll credits. it feels like hopelessness injected into my soul

#rant #to dear myself #to dear myself lb #not gonna lie i NEED some hope in my stories #its why i dont risk watching black mirror in case there isnt any #Bureau of Transformers was great for hope #anyway like EVEN the tragedy Goodbye My Princess? even tho there was NO way for a happy ending?#they still had the capacity for happy MOMENTs for pieces of time that were JUST joy mainly #even with All that there was the occassional capacity for survival and happiness and things to want and desire and hope for and believe in #i have... never seen a 'romance' drama go for the kill so intensely as To Dear Myself #that fucker REALLY showed a ton of PEAK romance tropes with zhu yilong #and just ripped u into fucking pieces #its ONE thing to see a couple genuinely love each other that just CANNOT work out due to life (like goodbye my princess)#it is a whole other level of tragedy to see couples where. one CARES and the other DOES NOT and u cant change other ppl #but they also wont leave the other party. so its locked in agony.#and the worst part is u get the feeling all these tortured people? will NEVER find a person who will simply love them the same back #its fucking horrific #like in most dramas the core issue is some character in relationship needs to grow. or some outside issue makes their life together impossib #but in this one its a case of DAMN these people should never have gotten together this long. one doesnt even cARE about the other. but #they wont leave and its too late now. the tragedy of ppl pciking to stay with people who dont give a shit about them hurts far more than #anything else. like god found family is good CAUSE THEY CHOOSE EACH OTHER this is the polar opposite of found family
