as much as im annoyed by the potential implications of the mhj/hybe drama i do feel like theres way too much speculation rn ... rlly doesn't sit so well with me that everyone is bashing on mhj alone (im not supporting her either though) and not bang sihyuk too. some hybe stans rlly js worship the guy and idk why . its not like he's innocent too. like those texts from him are so annoying too. abt if she's satisfied that nwjns is so popular and also abt trying to rival aespa / bp alone ...
hybe has sm power and r known for their mediaplay so i rlly do wish people would keep that in mind instead of doing their own speculation to bash on mhj . we don't know fs if she's the reason behind seunghan, youngseo, etc .... it seems so forced that everyone just collectively is making stuff up on their own theories and pissing on her. like im all for it when everything's done with but it's giving misogyny to me ughhh idk how to explain it eitherr without sounding like a mhj stan I PROMISE IM NOT TAKING HER SIDE T_T i just cant help but feel like poeple find it easier to hate and bash on women sometimes. even me scrolling x nowadays feels so annoying. literally feel so bad for illit and nwjns rn.
personally i was a teeny annoyed that illit had a similar image to nwjns w their nostalgia/coquettecore (also though just seems like cute/youthful concept is making a cb in general in kpop) but only because their songs on super real me were the exact type of songs i liked most from nwjns (super shy, hurt etc. the softer less peppy songs compared to hybe boy) so it bothered me that there was an implication that nwjns might be forced to distance itself to a more differing concept to keep some contrast btwn the two ... but ik that's not illit's fault at all (literally love the girls sm im a runext fan ^^) i feel like i can understand the upset that illit was getting a similar concept when every other grp before illit in hybe had more defined concepts seperating each other. but once again that's all hybe's doing ...... seeing the choreographers supporting mhj too makes it seem like not even the nwjns team or even all the staff were on board with the references in the choreo either...
anyways i do hope this controversy doesnt impede on either grps promos :( and i rlly hope everything gets sorted out... im srsly hoping this doesnt turn into a 5050 situtation again but with nwjns i was so upset when that happened . was curious on what your thoughts were or if u were keeping up with everything?
i feel like i've seen a good amount of people bashing them both but we could have different tls maybe !! but yeah i don't know why there's so many hybe stans 😭 it's been this way for a long time + armys idolizing bang pd back when bts was the only group under bighit. i feel like everyone needs to just accept that all these companies are trash and you can't be defending ceos
i do get what you mean because women are often criticized far more when those same things would be overlooked if a man did it,, however i don't think that's the case here 😭 because 1. she has an extensive history of s3xualizing minors back from when she was in sm and 2. it was revealed that she and bang pd bought out source music to debut a girl group so it's not that far-fetched to say that she could have sabotaged the trainees from source music, especially after she said that she didn't want to debut sakura because she was "too old." some of the other theories people are making definitely don't have much of a basis but i think most people also recognize that the main victims of all this are newjeans and illit + the other groups mhj dragged in with her. so yeah i wouldn't call it misogyny that people are going after min heejin, and honestly i'm even more surprised that people just forgot about how she sexualized shinee, red velvet, jisung, and newjeans and only started calling her out after this incident 😭 she's always had a LOT of defenders and personally i've never felt the need to defend billionaires :/ also mhj's a businesswoman who knows how to play the media herself. you can see it even in her press conferences; she's bringing up different groups to take attention off of herself and talking about her "relationship" with newjeans to garner sympathy from everyone
i think hybe definitely was shady for greenlighting illit's concept when it's clear there was inspiration from newjeans. i personally just assumed they discussed this with ador but i guess not?? so weird that they don't act like proper adults in that building. i'll also say that i don't think min heejin's concept for newjeans is original or considered "hers" but since most people associate that concept with newjeans, it's safe to say that illit's creative director probably got it from newjeans anyways. another thing about hybe tho is that i don't think they've been doing strong concepts for their groups. txt did have a strong one initially but bighit just stopped trying for them (probs bc their team got moved to source music 🥲) i think belift did a good job with keeping the vampire concept for enha consistent and i was initially scared that it would stop after hybe fully acquired cj enm, but i think they've recognized that enha just has too much connected to their vampire concept (their webtoon, storyline for their music videos) but enha's also been neglected by hybe a lot so screw them 🚶♂️
i hope this issue doesn't mess with comebacks either :/ it's like suspiciously right before newjeans' comeback, which throws me off because i feel like there's always some shit min heejin's pulling right before or during their comebacks (ex: inserting herself in the OMG music video at the very end) and it's so weird to me how she always talks about them as if she's the sixth member 😭

Today’s entry in “Things Fate/GO would have if it was well designed”:
A respec option. Or at the very least a full refund on skill and ascension materials when burning a max ascension unit. The latter is arguably the best possible option in fact, since it means you’re required to actually try and to invest a certain degree of EXP embers as well as have the raw materials required for the ascensions at all, rather than being an easy and potentially abusable bailout button. Bond/Interlude/Rank Up are already cumulative so no issue there. I’m tempted to say make the QP refundable too but i’d settle for a 70% refund or even as low as 50%.
If a refund were present it would solve two often overlooked by very major problems:
Sheer lack of reason to use most units. Despite how much people love parroting the “The goal of the game is to overcome it with your favorite characters” line, a line that I learned the hard way (IE by believing it) is BULLSHIT, the reality is theres tons of units very few will ever have a reason to use, and those few almost always have “they are among my absolute favorite characters” as their reason. That’s admirable and i love seeing 10/10/10’s of trash units. My first thought is always how they must love that character the way I do my favorite (Asterios). Abd I imagine that’s intended and what it should be. But maybe, perhaps, possibly, my second thought also shouldnt be “my god to WASTE that much on them is dedication.” Between interludes/Rank Up quartz and not having that or worry of “wasted resources”, people would have INFINITELY more incentive to at least try subpar or below units, and even grow attached to them by discovering combinations they like but would have otherwise never tried. In short, it gives player a real incentive to try out, and potentially even unexpectedly grow attached to, certain low tier or lukewarm characters (if Osakabehime wasn’t 5 star, I likely would have taken far longer to even touch what has become one of my absolute favorite characters)
Recovery from the massive amount if beginners traps in this game and encouraging player progression. Something i never TRULY had to deal with until at least a year of playing was resource drought. I have no pages, no crystals, no dust, and i dont even spend material i do have because then i wont have them for hypothetical characters i DONT have but like way more, because it takes me up to hours to get a single new one in “ideal” farming nodes. I have characters with tons of investment that are utterly useless either because i have characters who do the same but better or because they are terrible and i was an idiot newbie who stupidly thought because i like them they were worth it or because I misunderstood their kit’s potential entirely because i wasn’t familiar with it in practice (6/7/6 Benkei, 7/6/5 Elizabeth, 6/5/9 Siegfried, 6/6/1 Caligula, 5/7/1 Stheno) Keep in mind these traps are *intentional*. Between Story Locking and Exclusive servants, the game is DESIGNED to subject even new players to having their starting out units powercrept. They explicitly want you to waste resources you cant get back, because it means you have to grind more to get new ones. So they can claim they’re providing plenty of free resources while 1. Giving you paltry amounts to begin with when some servants need over 200 of a single material to be maxed out and 2. Intentionally trying to trick you into wasting what they give you so you’re forced to grind sink personal investment much more into it. So tldr: The game is full of beginners traps that will result in truly new players who don’t have gamepress and a calculator at all times inevitably wasting resources and being SoL when needing them later if they dont wanna waste dozens of hours.
The fans who say that personal love for a character matters make this worse. It. Doesnt. You can grail and lore that 1 star all you want, its stats will always be shit and its skills will always be the first to get powercrept. And as I’ve stated before we’re at the point where broken 5 stars dont just make winning easier, they make winning possible at all. I have vindicatingly yet disturbingly learned as of Lostbelt 5 or 6, the famous airtight defense of “game testers use 1 stars and mash with a hypothetical off meta support only to prove anyone can do it” has a massive fucking asterisk bolted on called “With the allowance of a meta support [usually Waver]” and you can call that minor all you want but it explicitly proves my statement about the game being designed with an assumption you have Waver or Merlin to be 100% true.
But as I said in the second point: it’s by design. It’s a pissfucking gacha of course they want to screw you over every way they can so long as they can get away with it. So unless enough people raise a fuss to them about it, which will almost certainly never happen because of cunts who will tout “well you’re just stupid, fuck you got mine!” Etc etc as they always do with every game. Gacha or otherwise. Even if, like with this respec/refund idea, it would benefit everyone already playing immensely and encourage new players to stick with the game. It benefits everyone including DW.
#And as for SQ reward “abuse” if you think acquiring a new unit#investing the non-refundable embers to get them to asc4#progressing the story and their bond enough to unlock their interludes/rank ups#completing the nodes#and THEN burning them is “abusing” a system of ONE TIME quartz rewards#then you probably are the type who’ll hardline defend anything no matter what i say#fgo#fuck dw#fuck aniplex#fuck nasu#fate: grand order#fate grand order#gacha#the hate consumed me long ago#cant be asked to proofread

another kind of goodbye
for @carry-the-sky. happy birthday, my friend! have a little post-cancellation kastle fic.
It’s three months, give or take, when Frank lets himself think about her again. Really think about her. Not in the passing kind of way, where he’s walking down some street and sees a bouquet of gardenias, like the kind he’d almost gotten her instead of the roses that day. Or when he’s sipping on coffee, and Karen’s face flashes like a mirage at him across the cheap Formica table – blonde hair almost white under the shit diner lighting, but those eyes still so blue as she told him he would never lie to her.
So – okay, so he thinks about her. He thinks about her.
(He wonders if she—)
Frank eventually makes his way back to the city again, after. Another day, another job. Madani thinks he’s meant for something greater than this – than picking off these scum-of-the-earth kinds of assholes that litter the streets of a place like New York.
He can’t believe that he was meant for greater, but. Sometimes, he does wonder. If a part of him – whatever part of him that’s not still buried deep down in the ground with his family – was meant to come back here. To walk these streets and feel the pull of her, always, even when that’s all he can afford to feel.
He tells himself that has to be enough.
He’s been laying low, since his return. Coughed up some cash for a three-hundred-square-footer in Brooklyn, but he crosses the bridge to the city most days, maybe even finds his way to Hell’s Kitchen from time to time too. It’s risky, he knows. If Murdock catches wind of him, they’d be lucky to walk away from each other in one piece. And Karen…
There’d be a different kind of hell to pay, if Karen ever found out.
His phone gives a single buzz in his pocket as he’s hunkering his way down 47th, and he stops in his tracks, nearly colliding with an elderly woman in the middle of the sidewalk.
“Excuse me!” she says in a shrill voice, bag clutched tight to her chest.
“Apologies, ma’am,” he nods as she makes a show of putting as much distance between them as possible, and then he fishes his phone out, hesitating for one absurd moment before glancing down at the screen.
Back in town yet, Castle?
He barks out a laugh. Chrissakes, Madani.
His phone buzzes again.
I have a job for you, if you’re still interested.
“Still,” mutters Frank, with a scoffing shake of his head. He thinks he admires her perseverance, but Madani’s gotta know she’s only wasting her breath.
He cuts south down 10th, toward Lincoln Tunnel. It’s a brisk day, and the wind on his face feels sharper than usual, considering he hasn’t bled much there in a while. He jams his hands deeper into his pockets, ignoring the insistent drone of Madani’s follow-up call.
He’s got a date with a park bench on the wrong side of town, and if he closes his eyes, he can pretend it’s the same bridge overlooking the water, and when he opens them again Karen’ll be there, waiting for him.
…
His closest call comes with, of all people, the lawyer. Not Red – the other one. Franklin Nelson.
Frank’s emerging with coffee two storefronts down just as another door opens, and he’s cursing himself for not seeing the signs when out tumbles Nelson with his back turned, adjusting his tie against the wind.
“Foggy bear, wait!” someone else is laughing, and a blonde lady steps out to chase after him, slinging a purse over her shoulder and reaching with her other hand to link around his elbow.
“I told him this was gonna make me late for work,” grumbles Nelson, but without any heat to the words. “Dad’s surprise party isn’t until tomorrow, don’t know why this couldn’t have waited – oh, crap, I forgot I told Karen I’d pick up some coffee—”
Nelson’s about-facing sharply, girlfriend following closely behind. He doesn’t appear to notice Frank crouched down in a corner by the 7-Eleven, hood obscuring half his face as he trains his eyes on the ground by their feet. The girl unearths some coins from her bag as they pass, clinking them onto the lid of Frank’s coffee cup without seeming to hear his low mutter of thanks.
He’s leapt up the moment he hears the door latch shut, brushing the coins into his palm as he goes.
He leaves them with a guy camped out by the train stop, a dog lifting her head from their blankets to blink sleepy eyes up at Frank, and he walks away harder, takes the steps two at a time and wishes – God he wishes—
…
Another text from Madani.
He shuts his phone off. Goes back to retrieve it ten seconds later from the trash can that he’d dumped it in, wiping it down and scowling as her message pops up on the screen.
Castle – offer still stands, FYI.
“You should call her back,” advises a man huddled down by the newsstands next to him. His face is like leather, worn down and weathered with age, with living. “Apologize for whatever it is that you did, so you don’t end up out here like me.”
“Already there,” Frank tells him, turning the phone over and over in his hand. Madani’s message lights up again each time, flashing and flashing until he sees it like a burn through his retinas even when the phone’s no longer facing him.
“Damn. That’s a damn shame.” The guy shifts, scratching at a spot on his back. “Maybe shouldn’t’ve stayed away from her for so long.
Frank shakes his head, uttering a short, incredulous laugh. “Well, maybe I got my reasons, yeah? You think about that?”
“Doesn’t matter what I think,” shrugs the guy. “Does she think they’re any good? These reasons of yours?”
Frank turns away, jaw working furiously.
“Yeah.” The guy shouldn’t have any right to sound as smug as he does, and yet. “Yeah, I didn’t think so.”
…
He’s got no place in coming here. He knows it. He knows it, but he thinks it was always meant to be this way, him circling back around to her, even after everything that he’s done to push her away. Maybe a part of him had never left. And the rest is just – there, hovering right at the edge of some sharp realization, that he could try to be whole again if he simply took that first step. And a part of Karen must at least sense that. It’s why she’d never really given up on him, before.
It doesn’t change how I feel about you.
Frank wonders if she’d forgive him this time. If he’d even want her to.
It wouldn’t be anything close to what he deserves, that’s for goddamn sure.
He gazes up at her fire escape, counts the number of steps it would take just to be able to reach that bottom rung from his vantage point across the street. Her shades are drawn, the lines of them blurred out in the dim orange light. On one corner of the windowsill, wedged up against the glass, there’s a small stack of books. On the other, a vase. From this angle, the shadows folded into the fabric of her curtains look almost like flower stems.
Frank squints, and the stems disappear.
…
There’s about a week in between, where he feels himself inching closer to something, each time he drops by her block. He never goes farther than the patch of sidewalk across from her building, but it’s getting harder not to just careen over the ledge.
More than anything, he wishes he knew, in those moments obscured in half-darkness, whether he’s come to look for that after she’d spoke of, or if he’s come to say goodbye.
Then, one day he spots flowers in her window, for the first time since—
(They’re pale white against the cream of her curtains, their stems dark slivers of green, and he imagines them pricking the pad of his thumb, drawing up a spot of blood.)
Frank takes a deep breath.
…
She doesn’t look surprised to see him when she opens the door, swinging it back two-thirds of the way before stopping. Her lips are pressed tightly together, like there’s too much to say, or maybe there’s things that she can’t, either way he can’t read her and he thinks she’s never terrified him more.
Frank drops his gaze, mouth moving soundlessly until the words grind their way out. “How’d you know I was here, Karen?”
He’s not sure what kind of answer he’s expecting. That Nelson had grown a real pair of eyes, or that Red had managed to ferret him out of his lurking somehow. Or maybe Karen really just hadn’t known at all, and those flowers were never for him.
What Karen says instead is, “Dinah and I grab a beer together, sometimes.”
“That right?” he asks, trying to lay out an image of this in his mind. It sits strangely there, stumping him for a moment, and some of his bewilderment must show on his face because Karen’s mouth almost turns up in a smile before flattening again.
She leans away from the doorjamb, waving her hand in a worn-looking gesture before letting it drop to her side. “Besides, you…haven’t exactly been subtle, in your haunting of Hell’s Kitchen.”
He doesn’t know what to say to that, other than a gruff, “’S’what dead men do, Karen,” as she folds her arms and sighs at him.
“You sure you’re not just losing your touch, Frank?” She steps into the doorway, whether to move closer to him or to block him out of her apartment, he can’t tell. “Or was it because you wanted me to know but couldn’t tell me to my face?”
His eyes snap up to hers, twitching slightly under the sharp weight of her gaze. He shakes his head, wishing he could just ask her, What do you want from me, Karen? but they’re long past that now, and if he can’t find his own way to answer her, then.
God, he really doesn’t deserve this woman.
“I think I—” He shifts his body and tries again. “I think I needed to figure some things out. Karen. I was waiting 'til I felt like I was ready, and I don’t think I’ll ever be that.” But I’m here, he wants to say, but I’m here.
“Yeah.” Karen’s nodding, hair falling into her face, and she brushes it back, resting her chin in her palm for a moment. “I know that, Frank.” All of the fight in her seems to have ebbed slowly back, and he resists the urge to reach out and shake the storm back into motion, to make her understand she doesn’t get to let him off the hook so easy.
The look she gives him now is softer, but he knows. Fight’s not done. May never be done. And he knows this because he knows he’ll never stop fighting for her.
She’s stepped back into the door, letting it swing open further. She doesn’t invite him in, but she’s quirked an eyebrow up at him, biting her lip with another deep sigh and a shake of her head.
“You, uh.” Frank glances back and forth at their surroundings, doesn’t quite meet her eye. Tries to lighten his tone through the gruffness as he asks her, “So, you wanted to see me?”
Her voice is soft, forbearing, with a hint of gentle knowing behind it. “You didn’t?”
She’s holding back the clear start of a smile from him this time, and Frank. Christ. It’s taking everything in him not to step toward her, to—
Karen tilts her chin at him, the motion loosening another wave of blonde hair, and he can’t remember anymore why he was trying so hard to stand back from all this. He’s moving, swaying forward until she’s just an arm’s length away, and there’s something almost teasing about the way she relaxes her shoulder into the door as she watches him.
“You back to kill some people, Frank?”
He feels a corner of his mouth turn up. This girl. He licks his lips, lets out a quiet sort of laugh. “That was the plan, yeah.”
Karen gazes up at him, unblinking. “Have you?”
“I was—” Frank has to look away for a moment, finally turning back when he can. His eyes are steady, boring into hers, voice low and full with meaning. “I was. Working on it.”
Karen nods. Doesn’t speak for long seconds, and he measures them out in heartbeats, chest tightening hard enough it feels like it might break when she asks him, very carefully, “Still?”
Frank steps closer, close enough to feel the way her breath shakes with a small sigh, how her body moves away from the door to meet him.
His hand is inches from hers, but he doesn’t reach for her. Not yet.
She waits, gaze searching. He gives the barest shake of his head, and a single word, gravel-filled, a promise. “No.”
Something cracks open in her expression, and it means everything to him, her head ducking away as though she can’t have him looking too closely at the way she's biting back that smile of hers, and he thinks – he thinks he wants to make her do it again, and again, for as long as she will have him.
“Would you like to come in, Frank?”
He takes her hand in his this time, feeling the pull of her as he steps across the threshold, door shutting firmly behind them, and it feels like coming home.

Jed LyeThey are quite clearly both componenets of a multifacted phenomena that occurs with ageing. Stephen Montogomery of Stanford University put out a paper in 2018/19 which provided evidence that ageing has both environmental and genetic/epigenetic components. There's a biological ageing 'program' which includes epigenetic, transcriptomic changes etc, and then theres genuine damage accrual. An accellerated program of ageing can be observed, an at the end of this mortality flattens out again, we then age at a much slower rate once we reach around 80. This is when the biological program identified by Michael Rose et al. ends and generalised biological damage continues. It simply cannot be ignored the accumulating DNA matuations occurs, and we knw from genetics studies that mutations (can) cause dysfunction. We know from longitudinal cohort studies that DNA seq shows that individuals do indeed accumulate somatic cell mutations throughout life, and these mutations are not all corrected, because we can measure their increased presence. No matter the molecule, this age related accumulation of dysfunction seems ubiquitous. Try to not let any one person overstate the importance of their work. Be aware their careers depend on garnering support for their ideas. Ageing occurs in all the ways mentioned and some not yet publicly known.2Hide 15 Replies
Jac H-EsoYou're overlooking -- a lot.
Jed LyeJac H-Eso You're being deliberately vague in your responses to avoid any successful or meaningful challenge to your thinking, whilst contributing very little.
Jac H-EsoOkay, I'll save you the trouble. I was wrong. But I saved the response I wanted to post for what I'm working on.
Jed Lyeooooo cryptic.
Jac H-EsoEh, arguing with someone on the internet serves no useful purpose beyond a method of bouncing ideas around. Not into winning losing races.
Jed LyeWe needn't argue. You can contribute your ideas and we can exmine both sets of observations objectively and even come up with more value by doing so. There's no consequences of being wrong here except taking out the trash in our minds. So let's have it....what is being overlooked?
Jac H-EsoI was simply going to point out that mutations tend to be changes that in normal contexts fail if they aren't serving the system (as they would if ineffective in the macrocosm, except where overfitting crashes systems) unless those mutations are being driven by some unidentified outside mechanism. So there's an interaction that is being overlooked. I have a specific idea what this interaction is, but it's just conjecture, so it's more important I prove that before just throwing it out there.1
Jed LyeI'm not moved by deliberately abstract language, but you're right. There's clarification needed, but if you're saying what I think you're saying; I think you might be overlooking the death of the organism [which I take as evidence that they aren’t "serving the system"].The imperative for variance in these systems is on an evolutionary timeline, and as such a biological mechanism for inducing variation is requisite within the system.I suspect what you mean by overfitting is evolutionary harmony being reached by an organisms genome and its environment at an specific inflection point, but at the moment which environment shifts, the genome cannot adapt because it's "over fitted". A correct observation if this is indeed what you meant.Biologically speaking, the genomic drift of somatic cells from germline is built in for the species, the cell, and not for the individual. That being said, unfavorable environments accelerate mutations, likely through an evolutionary conserved mechanism which leads to accelerated adaptation.Perhaps genes turned on, epigenetically, become more susceptible to oxidate stress and thus mutation. This would explain why bacteria evolve around antibiotics faster than they should by chance. That's all well and good, and understanding this from an evolutionary perspective is wonderfully enlightening, but pragmatically it only serves as a small piece of the jigsaw. We can observe it to be true,we cannot yet stop it,we know it contributes to dysfunction (for proof read every Mendellian disease paper ever). So we must look to either clear it or repair it. Then, we still have only one small element processed. There's a whole body of other molecules which need addressing too.1
Jac H-EsoYou've got the gist of what I meant. Overfitting similar to in machine learning, over adapted to a certain circumstance to the point failure occurs with the introduction of new data or circumstances. So in the case of cancer cells, they act a bit like a machine learning model that has been overfitted to a narrow bandwidth or facet aspect of data. They're adapted to what they are doing but fail to take into account data or facet outside the one they're focused on and crash the system.
Jed LyeJac H-Eso mmm, it's useful language to describe biology to someone who maybe doesn't understand it, but, does it help us solve anything? Let's play the metaphor out, how would we solve that problem in a machine learning environment?
Jac H-EsoSometimes you've just got to prove some things, especially in science. My father has CLL and I likely inherited it.
Jed LyeIs a cancer cell really over-fitted? By modern understanding we would suggest they are at an earlier state of differentitation. Mimicking perhaps a model without enough runs. They have gone back up the evolutionary trail to become something closer to a stem cell, it's when the differentiate they become better fitted? I cant think of a biological example of an overfitted algorithm in a cellular level? maybe an overactive memory T-cell1
Jed LyeAhh I'm sorry to hear that, Cancer is everywhere.1
Jed LyeImmunosenescence. The memory compartment of the immune system grows, while the naïve compartment shrinks. This is much like what you mentioned...over fitting of the model. It just came to me while I was writing about the phenomena. That's all.

Jed Lyeyou're flirting with a great many platitudes there without coming down on any hard science. But I appreciate the sentiment all the same.

Jac
That would be a system imbalance with overfitting at the memory compartment if it were what was responsible for the system crash in that particular example. With the CLL example, a part of the immune system replicates unabated with decreasing functionality, crashing immune system functionality and eventually the human system via inefficiency in regards to the whole data structure of an organism. (Much like overfitting in machine learning being due to errant neurons monopolizing data selection outcomes though ineffective outside a narrow bandwidth of data and thus rendering the machine learning model ineffective.) And in general aging I think the tendency is for immune cells to lose their normal replication functionality due to an evolutionarily derived overfitting of a cancer prevention mechanism/telomeres. You've highlighted an important part of the mechanism that needs to be addressed within the aging process. The degradation of immune cells.
Certain viral, bacterial, and fungal populations have gene editing capacities and wear away at normal DNA and epigenetic functionality with time. Often they do this in order to sequester resource within a system. That's your outside vector. Likely this interaction confers some benefit to mutation in the evolutionary process, as mutagenic accelerants. Cancer happens with some alteration creating a cell that is overfit to a narrow bandwidth that doesn't fit the organism's needs

Cambodia (3 weeks)
Stayed longer than I expected. In hindsight, I loved my time here but would have exchanged one week in Cambodia for another week in Laos. Because of the genocide, unfortunately Cambodia has lost some of its own cultural influence. Because of this, the western side of Cambodia feel much like Thailand, and eastern Cambodia resembles Vietnamese culture. A strange blend, but fascinating to mentally piece together as youre travelling between countries.
1. Siem Reap
(4/12-13) Visothe Boutique Hotel
Loved this hotel, big clean A/C rooms with a beautiful salt water pool. Charming, hidden and quaint. Would go back again for sure at $10/night.
(4/14) Siem Reap Pub Hostel
The pool, common area and booking accommodations were great, the bedrooms and bathrooms were disgusting. I was able to arrange a day trip to the Floating Villages (shown below).
Arriving in Siem Reap was surely a change from Thailand, but not a stretch. Immediately, I noticed the major street-trash issue. Siem Reap is not a place I would have gone to if it werent for Angkor Wat. I purchased a 3-day pass to Angkor Wat at 5pm to catch the sunset before the ticket office closed at 6pm. By doing this, youre able to enter the UNESCO site for free and catch the sunrise. Youre also able to avoid the long lines for the next day and see the sunrise at Angkor Wat the very next day! The 3-day ticket was around $65 and I saw so much that first day that I didnt end up using the ticket for the following 2-days. So, personally I would only recommend the 1-day pass.

2. Koh Rong Samleon
(4/15) Overnight bus
Purchased via hostel
(4/16-18) The Big Easy
AC broke in 100+ degrees but amazing food (with an actual salad on the menu!?). The common area is the outdoor bar itself, so there was literally no option for AC anywhere on this damn island. I also may have gotten bed bugs from this place, or it might have been sun poisoning. Either way, it was beautiful but this hostel didnt accommodate well.
(4/19) Onederz
Thankful I switched to this hostel but really pricey! The most incredible happy hour, large/chill outdoor space with hammocks and a pool table in the sand. AC with personal fans at each bed, a lot of cleaning staff :) and cotton swabs provided in the bathrooms (which were gender specific!).
This is the smaller, cleaner and prettier of the two islands - the other island is Koh Rong, which is known for partying. I ended up arriving through a different pier than I was expecting so trying to find a hostel on a blistering hot beach with 20 pounds of backpack is MISERABLE. But worth it. This island was incredibly serene and I met super chill girlfriends. Awesome seafood BBQ and you can hike over to the other side of the island (20 min) to catch the sunset. I ran into guys I met in Bangkok who live in Austin! Something I love about backpacking is realizing how connected the world is, as youre likely to run into those whove met previously. Unfortunately, my sun poisoning was unbearable and SO itchy, despite all of the aloe juice I drank. Between that, the lack of AirCon, and how expensive it was to stay on the island, I had to get out. I was also getting island fever after three nights. It literally felt like years.

3. Kampot
(4/20-23) Mad Monkey
Party hostel that provides a free mixed drink when you check-in. Filthy pool, still swam in it though... People were drinking in the room at all hours despite the upstairs bar which was annoying and a street dog who jumped in the river somehow got in my bed as I was trying to fall asleep. When the hostel heard my feedback (they insisted I tell them even though I wasnt going to mention anything) they gave me free lunch. The food is delicious and the rooms are clean, those are my two positive thoughts on that place.
(4/24-28) Karma Traders
Wanted to stay in Kampot but get out of Mad Monkey so I went to the place I had heard so much about, and it was awesome! You can get happy cookies, community dinners and theres also a pool there. Since its a bit outside of Kampot, we were next to an Ostrich farm (!!!). Ended up befriending a local guy who bar-tended here and he helped me learn how to ride a motorbike. This hostel redeemed the days I spent at Mad Monkey.
Kampot is almost as magical as Pai, Thailand. Its the hippie town of Cambodia with flower gardens/restaurants on boats and mountains to motorbike on. Ohhh my goodness. I spent 8 days here (which is quite long when youre backpacking). Kampot has much french influence through the food, architecture, and even small businesses run by French expats. Kampot has an oudoor park gym that overlooks the river, insaneeee sunsets if youre on the treadmill ;). You can bike out to the salt fields, chili pepper farms and crab markets in Kep. Definitely my favorite place in Cambodia, hands down.

4. Phnom Penh
(4/29-5/2) Lovely Jubbly Villa
Decent place with a pool and full restaurant/bar. They processed my Vietnamese 3-month visa since the embassy is in Phnom Penh which can be used via airplane or bus, which is uncommon. This gave me much flexibility in terms of planning my entrance in to Vietnam.
I mainly went to Phnom Pehn to see the Killing Fields and Genocide Museum (shown below) from the Khmer Rouge regime that lasted between 1975-1979. This city actually surprised me because everyone kept saying how its just another city. But in fact, I really enjoyed my time around the unique temples (much different than Thai temples), the free green tea at each street restaurant, the art, the manicured palm trees along the river, and THE MOST INCREDIBLE Azahar Yoga Studio !

okay so we can all agreed the percy had it rough growing up
- i like to think his comfort show was avatar the last airbender
- so at like age 15 he rewatched it and decided to teach himself the waterbending they do in the show
- it takes him awhile, especially since he starts learning towards the end of the titan war and then loses his memories
- but while on the quest (before tartarus) he gets pretty god at it and then suddenly has the epiphany that jason is a son a jupiter so technically he can do airbending
- percy explains the show to him and jason doesn’t fully get it but he basically thinks well, we’re in this for the long haul and it would probably be great to spend time with percy since he doesn’t know him that well
- percy gets jason to get some kind of watching device from leo because percy still doesn’t like him that much and since there so high up in the sky having a bit of technology wouldn’t hurt
- next time they have to land to get parts leo also manages to snag a cheap ass smartphones, like one of the ones you can get for like 30 bucks at walmart, and creates a shitty ass wifi connection for the argo 2
- so the learning begins
- jason catches on pretty quickly and gets sucked in by the lore of the show
- percy and him decide to start watching it together but not until after the war so that the viewing isn’t cut short
- then percy and annabeth fall into tartarus and everyone feels like shit
- but in his free time jason secretly practices the airbending stuff because its probably gonna be hell for percy once he gets out and the fact that jason actually learned airbending might help cheer him up
- so percy and annabeth get out and jason and him don’t talk as much afterwards, but one night percy is out on the deck after a nightmare and jason finds him there while on watch
- percy is clearly upset and doesn’t want to talk about it, so jason decides to show him the sick moves hes been practicing
- it doesn’t heal percy or anything, but it helps him feel not as shitty
- so now theres a waterbender and an airbender on the ship, but percy and jason aren’t really content with that, they want an earth and firebender too
- jason knows the only real choice they have for a firebender is leo, but percy and him don’t seem to get along very well and percy. still isn’t in a good place after tartarus
- so jason thinks of earthbending and the two choices are nico and hazel, and after nico was outed to him jason is pretty sure nico doesn’t want to be buddy buddy, so he picks hazel, plus her and percy got pretty close during and after the whole memory wipe thing
- so they get hazel in on it and tell her all about the show
- shes a little concerned because he powers don’t line up exactly with what they’re talking about, but they’ll make do
- she can use gems and prescious metals in the same way they would with rocks, sand, and dirt in the show
- she picks it up really quickly, like superhuman quick, and it kind of terrifies jason and percy but the three of them look pretty epic so they overlook it
- percy and leo end up going on the one miniquest together and get along decently after that so jason brings up the idea of leo learning firebending moves
- hazel agrees, but percy kind of hesitates at first
- he agrees anyways because he is outnumbered two to one
- so when the three of them are like oh yea we know all this bending stuff and want you to learn firebending so we can look sick as hell, here let us tell you about the show leos like please Hold The Phone
- out of fucking Nowhere he pulls out these replicas of zukos swords and a real life version of aangs staff (he also tells them in should, in theory, actually work if you could bend air)
- percy starts losing his shit right away because jason and hazel know about a lot of the lore and the show and how the bending works, but neither of them have actually watched it yet
- but now, percy has someone whos in on this whole bending thing and has seen the show and loves it as much as he did
- turns out it was Both of their comfort shows growing up
- so leo wants to hesitate at first because him and fire aren’t exactly best friends he agrees because, well, exactly like the others said, it would look sick as hell
- the thing is he starts learning but then shit immediately hits the fan, the rest of the book happens, and leo dies
- this is where canon diverages slightly, because after he dies he still ends up on calypsos island and gets her out of there, but he doesn’t do that shit where it takes him forever to get back, he hightails it back to chb
- it takes him about 2 weeks
- upon his arrival back things take time to get back to normal and percy, jason, hazel, and leo aren’t really all in the same places anymore
- percy is in school because its august and the school year is starting, hazel and jason had to go back to camp jupiter to pick up the pieces there, and leo is settling in at chb
- leo doesn’t give up though, he knows that he’ll see them again eventually so he practices firebending stuff on his own, that way the next time all of them are together he can show off his sick nasty moves
- during percys senior year he gets two weeks off for his fall break and the seven (plus nico and reyna) decide to get together and go camping
- they end up staying the beach house percy and his mom stay at (do they own it, rent it????? idk)
- once together again jason, percy, hazel, and leo all find out that each of them have been practicing on their own to show the others
- in honor of them all learning they convince the rest of them to take three days of their vacation to watch atla
- they all end up atla stans
- over the next couple days the four of them learn stuff together
- leo and jason learn the dancing dragon, not because jason get firebend, but because parallels
- they try to recreate a fight scene but, even though leos fire is powerful, leo is fighting agaisnt three children of the big three and accidently gets chucked into the ocean so they forget that idea
- instead the try to recreate aangs final form in the fight with ozai and the only thing they manage not to do is compress the water because thats not possible
- it actually ends up being really helpful for them because learning bending helps with being better and more in touch with their powers
- that halloween percy is taking his baby sister trick or treating (idk if that matches up with the timeline or not but oh well, im throwing canon after boo in the trash) and the gang gets back together for it
- leo, percy, hazel, and jason manage to get costumes that match the tradtional clothes for that nation in atla and go absolutly feral when they do
- all in all the four of them actually end up being really good friends because of it and now its like their go to party tricks
#bruh fucking.....#leo percy hazel and jason would be a god tier friend group#might fuck around and write a heroes of olympus atla au once i'm done wiriting the three others fics ive commited to#Percy Jackon and the Olympians#Heroes of Olympus#Leo Valdez#hazel levesque#jason grace#percy jackson#theos fanfic#future fic idea

Not the Way
Things don’t have to last forever to have meaning - i understand that. That’s how i thought my memories of you would live on. I’ve always said that even if a relationship went south, as long as they were still the same person as they showed you they were, and it was only their feelings that changed, you shouldn’t regret being with them. But what do you do when you realize that they were never who you thought they were? But it’s not that you weren't who i thought you were. Even now I can’t hate you because I know, or I still believe at the very least, that even if it was false, you yourself were genuine. Honestly some part of me still wants to believe that I wasn’t as simple as a rebound. It’s like when you say “more than friends, less than lovers”, theres this ambiguity. That’s what I believe the case was. I was a little more than a rebound, the feelings you had for me were genuine but at the same time I still acted as a distraction from your ex - or at least your ex at the time. And that’s what hurts, the fact that the context in which our relationship happened was a pretense. You yourself, your feelings, were genuine. I could feel it. But even if you didn’t mean to, even if you didn’t know it at the time or maybe you still don’t know it even now, you lied. See it doesn’t matter even if 80 or 90% of it was true. In true or false, if the statement is incorrect even by one word, it is still false. Maybe you don’t understand what I’m so upset about. It’s fine, sometimes I don’t think I’m justified in feeling the way I do either. I told you from the very beginning that I was only going to be in your city for a little less than two weeks before I had to leave. I told you clearly that we owed each other nothing and the most we were were a little more than friends. But like Ed Sheeran once sung “I wasn’t looking for a promise or commitment. But it was never just fun & I thought you were different”. I told you clearly that if you still had issues with your girlfriend I didn’t want to be involved. We had already started before I found out that you just recently broke up with her. When I did find out about her existence you assured me that you and her were over and had wanted it to be over for a while before you finally decided to formally break it off with her. And every time I asked and said that if you wanted to we could stop and you could get back together with her, you always responded saying that you wouldn’t give her another chance. And I believed you. And so we started talking about our future. You would tell me how much you liked me - or at the very least the feelings you had for me. You would half jokingly say that you wanted to marry me, in fact you even said that if I was still single by the time I was thirty you would propose. You sounded so serious about it that I told you not to make promises you couldn’t keep. You asked me why I thought you couldn’t keep it and I asked if you ever told your ex that you were going to be with her forever. Obviously you did, saying you thought it at the time but some things don’t always work out the way you want it to. “But if I believe in the words you said without thinking it over before you said them and it turns out to be false than wouldn’t I be super pitiful?” So why couldn’t be more careful with what you told me? You told me the feelings you had for her were more akin to nostalgia. You told me there were many times you wanted to break it off with her but she kept saying that she still liked you and she would change. You told me she kept asking for another chance and time after time you gave it to her. But not this time. This time you were done. You told me she was crazy. You told me that your parents didn’t like her. You told me that you didn’t like her, not anymore.
If that was the case, why did this happen? This was not the way to figure out what you wanted. But as if you fucking with my heart wasn't enough, she also had to mess with my sanity. She stalked me on facebook, took frames of videos where I was singing, needless to say I looked less than attractive, and made a fucking Instagram account with them. Then she started messaging me on facebook asking me if I felt bad about being the other woman even though you broke up with her before we even met. She then told me it was my fault because even if I met after you broke up I was the reason you wouldn't get back together with her. But you told her that you broke up because of your internal problems, not because of any one else. Not because of me. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that she was right. Without me you would’ve easily got back together again. She asked me why I liked you since you worked in construction, your family didn't have much money and she also said you were ugly. So and I asked her back and she told me she didn't really like you anymore but four years of feelings were too hard to give up just like that. That and that she felt she invested too much in you, that she was super good to you, that she bought you a wallet. Sorry, pause here, she bought you a wallet so she couldn’t let you go? How much money did you spend on her and how can you be so clear cut about stupid things like that? She also told me she had a boyfriend and was just looking for you to get closure.
At this point I thought we were beginning to understand each other. I told her that I hope with this boyfriend she would stay with him because she actually liked him and not because she was simply tolerating him. And she told me that you actually liked me and that since we had feelings for each other we should just go for it. A few days later you messaged me saying that you were back together with her. I had a lot of work that night and only slept for two hours. It was all so sudden and I couldn’t think properly. All I could think was how none of what we shared was true, none of it was real, none of it was genuine. Because I was a rebound. And I was hurt, I kept crying as I was trying to make sense of what was happening.
You told me it wasn’t like that, that you did like me at the time we were together, that you didn’t know this would happen either. You told me that you never expected to get back together with her but she gave you something she made herself and you thought she was super sincere.
You also told me that I shouldn’t look for you anymore, that she didn’t want you talking to me, and that you would have to block me soon. So we can’t even be friends? I asked. Not now, you responded. But not forever, there’s still a chance in the future. That chance arriving when and if you broke up with her again. What do you take me for? Am I a dog that comes running when you say come and leaves when you say go? Am I like a bus stop to you, you use it when your car has brakes down but completely overlook its existence when its fixed? You made me feel like a used tissue. Thrown away you were done blowing your nose and wiping your tears like trash.
Newsflash, you can’t just treat me like a friend when it’s convenient for you and throw me aside when it’s not, because that’s not what a friend is. I mean it when I said that you were more than a friend to me but not quite a lover - I saw you as a friend, but I guess you only ever saw me as a fling. I asked if you really had to go as far as blocking me. You said you would ask her that night but at the very least you would tell me before you blocked me. You didn’t. I come back from school later to see that there was already no way to reach you. And this hurt even more than realizing I was a rebound. This told me how much you cared, or didn’t care. Even if you did care about me, it was so insignificant compared to how much you cared about your girlfriend because you couldn’t even keep a promise to talk to me one last time.
It was something I really needed. I already said I only had two hours of sleep that night and it was so fresh I had no time to think it through. Even when your girlfriend was constantly calling saying she needed closure I encouraged you to give it to her because I understood how important it was. I told her that if I was her and you wouldn’t even talk to me about what happened and where we went wrong I would go insane. And I guess I am going insane. Even the guy who I told you played me and cheated on me gave me closure. Sure, everything he said was bullshit, but knowing it was bullshit was a way for me to move forward. But that’s only one side of it, I also need you to know what I think and understand how I feel. I want you to know what I think you did right, but also what you did wrong. You never gave me a chance. So here I am writing this letter in English that I’m going to have to translate to Chinese for you to understand because talking or voice messaging is no longer an option. So now that we’ve established what had happened and how I felt when it happened let me tell you how I feel now that I’ve had time to think it over. When I talked to my friends I said that you hurt me, because you did. But even I don’t get it because I didn’t like you. Yes, I had feelings for you but I didn’t like you - I needed more time to understand you more before I could say if I did or didn’t. I also know the chances of us ever being together forever were slim. I didn’t think it was impossible but it wasn’t probable. I also told you I wouldn’t get in the way of you meeting other girls since our future was so uncertain. Let me make this clear, I’m not upset over the fact you got back together with your girlfriend. I’m upset over the fact that you had to make use of my heart to understand she was always what you wanted. I’m upset that no matter how many times I told you you could go back to her you responded saying that you had no feelings for her and were focused on me. I’m upset at the fact that you lied. And I’m upset at what I gave you believing those lies. I’m not blaming you for my regrets, you never demanded or took anything from me, you respected my limits but knowing that our relationship wasn’t what I thought it was makes me regret giving you what I did. If you lied intentionally to get me to give it to you then that’s something else entirely, but I believe that you didn’t. So this is something I blame myself for. For this I don’t want you to feel bad. If you’re going to feel bad feel bad that you lied to me. You lied to me even if you didn’t think you were lying. I don’t think you’re a bad person, I just think you made bad choices. Which is why I said that even if our relationship was a lie, I believe that you yourself were genuine. I’m not writing this letter to make you feel bad, I’m writing it so you understand my thought process.
I always knew I wasn’t going to be “home” but I thought I was a destination - like a nice trip to the Caribbean. I didn’t expect to be the gas station on your way back home. Feel sorry for the way you decided to end it with me. Feel sorry for making me believe that I was actually your friend and not just a fling. Feel sorry for how you treated me and how you cut me out after you got back together with her. Feel sorry that you broke your promise to talk to me just once more because you didn’t have a backbone to go against her. Feel sorry that you robbed me of my chance of closure with you even knowing how much I needed it because how ever much you cared about me didn’t even amount to a grain of sand compared to how much you cared about her. Feel sorry for how you tainted my memories of the good times we spent together with the horrible way you chose to end things. You blocked me so easily. Even when you said she was annoying and wouldn’t stop bothering you, you never blocked her. I asked if you weren’t going to give her closure (which I encouraged you do) and you thought she was annoying why didn’t you just block her? I guess I know the answer now. I wonder if I asked you to block her would you have done it? But I guess I’ll never know because I would never ask you to do that. I actually think that you compliment each other very much. She likes everything to go her way and you’ll go along with it because you have no backbone. You used me as a rebound and if what she told me about having a boyfriend was true she did the same. Have you ever stopped to think about the people you hurt because you both couldn’t figure out that what you wanted was in front of you all along? And let’s say she lied, well I guess that makes two because you lied too. She likes to play convoluted games and so do you. So congratulations. I hope you do end up getting married and starting a family together because you both deserve each other. It’ll be two months before this letter reaches you. I would rather we had talked this out but since you will no longer talk to me I still need to at least get my thoughts out to you. But I wonder if you’d care enough to read my final thoughts. I wonder if you could still say that I wasn’t a rebound. I wonder if you’re still with her. I wonder if you ever think about me and feel sorry about everything that went down because this was not the way to figure out what you wanted. I guess I’ll never know.

Wladimir Klitschko: This may sound arrogant, but I am like Mount Everest
The 41-year-olds training camp in the Alps looks like the setting for a horror film and he tells Sachin Nakrani he is in the mood to give Anthony Joshua a scare when they meet on 29 April at Wembley
Stanglwirt is a sprawling bio-hotel located in the Austrian Alps and which at first glance looks like the setting for a slow-burning, creepy horrormovie. With its mountainous background and somewhat kitsch interior heavy wood panelling, stripy sofas it brings about memories of the Overlook Hotel from Stephen Kings TheShining. Walk through the lobby, past the staff dressedin lederhosen, and it feels like only a matter of time until a clock goes off, a cuckoo springsout and a body fallsdownthe stairs.
But on this spring visit there is no horror to be had. Instead, amid the restaurants and bars, the spas, saunas and swimming pools, resides a story of redemption. Or, as Wladimir Klitschko puts it, fulfilling an obsession.
The heavyweight is here to prepare for his bout with Anthony Joshua at Wembley Stadium on 29 April. Stanglwirt has been his pre-fight base since 2003 and a place he describes as a home away from home. It is easy to see the appeal for all its Heres Johnny! qualities, the complex, now more than 250 years old, is a beautiful place to spend some time.Pristine, picturesque, warm, friendly and with plenty to do and consume. For Klitschko it is somewhere to get his mind and body right, which now more than ever is important for a boxing great who, as he admits, is about to take on a career-defining challenge.
Klitschko has not fought since his shock defeat to Tyson Fury in Dsseldorf 17 months ago. It was an outcome that not only stripped the Ukrainian of his WBA, IBF and WBO titles but also of his cloak of near-invincibility. Dr Steelhammer, a fighter who had secured 53 of his 64 victories across a 27-year career by knockout, wasoutgunned by a man who dressed asBatman for one of their pre-fight press conferences. Fury was a joke, yet after a unanimous points decision on 28 November 2015 he was the one laughing.
Much has happened to Fury since that night and one of the consequences has been Klitschko missing out on a rematch that would have provided him with a chance to prove he is no busted flush after a fourth defeat since turning professional in 1996. Unfinished business, as he puts it. Now, finally, comes the chance for him to go again against a British fighter.

Joshua, the IBF champion, poses a different threat to Fury a year younger at 27, stronger and more deadly. Then there is the setting: a stadium Klitschko has never fought at, in front of a 90,000 sellout crowd. He goes there on the back of his longest period of inactivity since first lacing up a pair of gloves, andhaving just turned 41. Little wonderthis most assured of men is full of questions, full of doubts, as he spoke at Stanglwirt.
This fight is 50-50, Klitschko said. Can the younger guy make it? Has the older guy still got it? Question marks are making this event really interesting. Ivenever had a pause for a year and a half. Is it bad? Is it good? Will I have rust? I want the answers myself.
One thing I believe is I dont feel my age. Its not empty words. I am getting in the best shape of my life, physically and mentally. I dont see Im stuck and not improving, even in a sport Ive been involved with for so long. Thats what interests and excites me.
Klitschko certainly looked well as he spoke, flanked by his manager, Bernd Bnte, and his trainer, Johnathon Banks.
The body remains imposing and defined, his face chiselled and those hands continue to look like weaponsof mass destruction. Asked to predict how the fight with Joshua will go, Klitschko raised his fists and nodded towards them in turn. Funeral or hospital? Hospital or funeral? I dont need many punches to knock a person out.
That was a rare moment of trash-talking bravado from the veteran (alongside the moment he claimed Joshua gets confidence from his musclesand is better suited to bodybuilding).
Generally Klitschko was respectful of his opponent, borne partly out of the fact Joshua goes into their fight on the back of a perfect professional record 18 wins from 18 fights, all achieved via knockout and partly because of the respect Klitschko developed for the man from Watford, having invited him to be a sparring partner in November 2014, before takingon the Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev.
He impressed me with his attitude, Klitschko says. He was in the background and learning. Sometimes you need to be quiet and just watch, and he was observing everything. He could also box, so I gave him credit and I was there in the arena when he won gold [at London 2012]. Every medallist in the super-heavyweight division at the Olympics has to be considered successful. He has a lot of potential and so far has done good.
Unlike Fury, Joshua is likely to engage with Klitschko from the first bell, looking to plant his feet and unload bombs as often as possible. On one hand that provides the challenger with a standing target not to mention a supposedly vulnerable chin but on the other it means he will have to engage himself, something Klitschko did only in the 12th round of the Fury fight when his uncharacteristic hesitancy against a moving target had given him no choice but to go for broke. Ultimatelyit was too little, too late.
Klitschko insists he has learned from his mistakes and will be fully prepared for the challenge by the time he arrives in London on 26 April. Until thenit is a case of working hard and staying focused, something that was there to see at Stanglwirt.
The scene was a converted tennis court in the bowels of the hotel. In the middle stood a ring while at one side were three punchbags hung in ascending order and at another a basketball net where, at around 8am, Banks shot hoops with another memberof backroom team as Klitschko went through a series of stretching exercises. Two television screens had been set up showing Joshuas previous fights, everything taking place to the sound ofMotown classics. It was a relaxed start.
Banks and Klitschko eventually underwent some pad work inside the ring. It was, in keeping with the mood of the morning, a relatively gentle session but the sound of thudding fists carried enough of an echo to remind onlookers of the power coming Joshuas way later this month. The 27-year-old is the favourite with most bookmakers but complacency would be foolish against a man who has been there, done that, and is entering the ring not because he needs the money but because he is determined to remind the world he remains one of the most durable heavyweights and, yet again, has what it takes to be a champion.

Failure is an experience and Im coming after a defeat [against Fury] with a totally different attitude, Klitschko says. I learned more about myself, about boxing, through that defeat. Unfortunately I cannot change it, or have a second shot like in golf theres no mulligan for me. But Im not adestroyed man.
This may sound arrogant but I am like Mount Everest. You can climb it during a certain period of time during two weeks in April I believe and say: I conquered Everest. Then youve got to run down because its going to take you down if you miss the time.
Some make it back but a lot of people die, so is Mount Everest defeated? No, its still there and its going to take another life this April.

Wladimir Klitschko:’ This may sound pretentiou, but I am like Mount Everest’
The 41 -year-olds training camp in the Alps looks like the setting for a horror cinema and he tells Sachin Nakrani he is in the mood to give Anthony Joshua a scare when they meet on 29 April at Wembley
Stanglwirt is a sprawling bio-hotel located in the Austrian Alps and which at first glance looks like the location for a slow-burning, creepy horror movie. With its mountainous background and somewhat kitsch interior heavy grove panelling, stripy sofas it brings about recognitions of the Overlook Hotel from Stephen Kings The Shining. Walk through the vestibule, past the staff dressed in lederhosen, and it is like merely a matter of time until a clock “re going away”, a bozo springs out and a organization falls down the stairs.
But on this spring visit there is no horror to be had. Instead, amid the restaurants sector and tables, the spas, saunas and wading pool, resides a storey of saving. Or, as Wladimir Klitschko introduces it, fulfilling an obsession.
The heavyweight is here to prepare for his bout with Anthony Joshua at Wembley Stadium on 29 April. Stanglwirt has been his pre-fight basi since 2003 and a neighbourhood he describes as a dwelling away from dwelling. It is easy to see the appeal for all its Heres Johnny! calibers, the complex , now more than 250 years old, is a beautiful target to waste some time. Pristine, picturesque, warm, friendly and with plenty to do and devour. For Klitschko it is somewhere to get his attention and mas right, which now now more than ever is important for a boxing great who, as he admits, is about to take on a career-defining challenge.
Klitschko has not fought since his shock defeat to Tyson Fury in Dsseldorf 17 months ago. It was an outcome that not only deprived the Ukrainian of his WBA, IBF and WBO names but also of his robe of near-invincibility. Dr Steelhammer, a fighter who had assured 53 of his 64 success across a 27 -year career by knockout, was outgunned by a man who garmented as Batman for one of their pre-fight news conference. Fury was a parody, yet after a unanimous objects decision on 28 November 2015 he was the one laughing.
Much has happened to Fury since that night and one of the consequences has been Klitschko missing out on a rematch that would have furnished him with a chance to prove he is no busted redden after a fourth win since revolving professional in 1996. Unfinished business, as he introduces it. Now, eventually, comes the chance for him to go again against a British fighter.

Joshua, the IBF champion, poses a different threat to Fury a year younger at 27, stronger and more deadly. On one mitt that provides the challenger with a digesting target not to mention a supposedly vulnerable chins but on the other it represents he will have to engage himself, something Klitschko did only in the 12 th round of the Fury fight when his uncharacteristic hesitancy against a moving target had given him no choice but to go for break-dance. Eventually it was too little, too late.
Klitschko insists he has learned from his mistakes and will be fully prepared for current challenges by the time he arrives in London on 26 April. Until then it is a suit of working on and biding focused, something that was there to learnt at Stanglwirt.
The scene was a proselytized tennis courtroom in the bowels of the inn. In the middle held a sound while at one back were three punchbags hung in ascending prescribe and at another a basketball cyberspace where, at around 8am, Banks filmed bands with another member of backroom unit as Klitschko went through a series of elongating rehearsals. Two television screens had been put in demonstrating Joshuas previous engages, everything taking place to the clang of Motown classics. It was a tighten start.
Banks and Klitschko eventually underwent some pad work inside the ring. It was, in keeping with the mood of the morning, a relatively soothing conference but the din of thudding fists carried enough of an resemble to remind spectators of the supremacy coming Joshuas way later this month. The 27 -year-old is the favourite with most bookmakers but complacency would be foolhardy against a husband who has been there, said and done, and is penetrating the ring not because he needs the money but because he is determined to remind the world he remains one of “the worlds largest” durable heavyweights and, yet again, has what it takes to be a champion.

Wladimir Klitschko:’ This know it sounds arrogant, but I am like Mount Everest’
The 41 -year-olds training camp in the Alps consider this to be the fixed for a repugnance film and he tells Sachin Nakrani he is in the mood to give Anthony Joshua a scare when they meet on 29 April at Wembley
Stanglwirt is a sprawling bio-hotel located in the Austrian Alps and which at first glance looks like the setting for a slow-burning, creepy-crawly horror movie. With its rocky background and somewhat kitsch interior heavy grove panelling, stripy sofas it brings about reminiscences of the Overlook Hotel from Stephen Kings The Shining. Walk through the foyer, past the staff garmented in lederhosen, and it is like simply a matter of time until a clock goes off, a jackas springs out and a organization falls down the stairs.
But on this spring visit there is no repugnance to be had. Instead, amid the restaurants and saloons, the spas, saunas and swimming pool, resides a storey of saving. Or, as Wladimir Klitschko puts it, fulfilling an obsession.
The heavyweight is here to prepare for his bout with Anthony Joshua at Wembley Stadium on 29 April. Stanglwirt has been his pre-fight base since 2003 and a lieu he describes as a dwelling away from residence. It is easy to see the appeal for all its Heres Johnny! excellences, the complex , now more than 250 years old, is a beautiful neighbourhood to invest some time. Pristine, picturesque, heated, friendly and with plenty to do and destroy. For Klitschko it is somewhere to get his attention and mas right, which now now more than ever is important for a boxing great who, as he declares, is about to take over a career-defining challenge.
Klitschko has not fought since his shock defeat to Tyson Fury in Dsseldorf 17 months ago. It was an outcome that not only deprived the Ukrainian of his WBA, IBF and WBO designations but also of his coat of near-invincibility. Dr Steelhammer, a fighter who had self-assured 53 of his 64 success across a 27 -year career by knockout, was outgunned by a man who dressed as Batman for one of their pre-fight press conference. Fury was a gag, yet after a unanimous qualities decision on 28 November 2015 he was the one laughing.
Much has happened to Fury since that night and one of the consequences has been Klitschko missing out on a rematch that would have rendered him with a chance to prove he is no busted blush after a fourth demolish since shifting professional in 1996. Unfinished business, as he sets it. Now, eventually, comes the chance for him to go again against a British fighter.

Joshua, the IBF champion, poses a different menace to Fury a year younger at 27, greater and more deadly. Then there is the settled: a stadium Klitschko has never fought at, in front of a 90,000 sellout crowd. He is over there on the back of his longest period of inactivity since first fastening up a duo of gloves, and having exactly rotated 41. Little wonder this most assured of men is full of questions, full of doubts, as he spoke at Stanglwirt.
This fight is 50 -5 0, Klitschko said. Can the younger guy make it? Has the older person still got it? Doubt scores are making this event really interesting. Ive never had a pause for a year and a half. Is it bad? Is it good? Will I have rust? I want the answers myself.
One thing I believe is I dont find my age. Its not empty words. I am getting in the best influence of my life, physically and mentally. I dont investigate Im fasten and not improving, even in a athletic Ive been involved with for so long. Thats what interests and elicits me.
Klitschko surely ogled well as he addrest, flanked by his manager, Bernd Bnte, and his coach, Johnathon Banks.
The body remains enforcing and defined, his appearance chiselled and those sides continue to look like weapons of mass destruction. Expected to predict how the fight with Joshua will go, Klitschko elevated his fists and nodded towards them in turn. Funeral or hospital? Hospital or funeral? I dont need many punches to knock person or persons out.
That was a uncommon moment of trash-talking swagger from the ex-serviceman( alongside the moment he claimed Joshua get confidence from his muscles and is better suited to bodybuilding ).
Generally Klitschko was respectful of his rival, assume partly out of the fact Joshua goes into their fight on the back of a perfect professional record 18 acquires from 18 opposes, all achieved via knockout and partly because of the respect Klitschko developed for “the mens” from Watford, having invited him to be a sparring partner in November 2014, before taking on the Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev.
He amazed me with his attitude, Klitschko says. He was in the background and memorizing. Sometimes you need to be quiet and just watch, and he was observing everything. He could also chest, so I dedicated him credit and I was there in the arena when he won gold[ at London 2012 ]~ ATAGEND.
