Bucky’s Very Bad Day
A couple of weeks ago I stumbled upon this post by @musette22, and it sparked an idea. Even though it was originally Evanstan, I heard Stucky in my head. I haven’t been reading Stucky long. Ive been writing fanfiction for The Hunger Games (Everlark, specifically) since 2013, and while I enjoy Steve and Bucky, their voices weren’t inside my head (metaphorically, of course) telling me two write down their stories. I don’t usually get nervous posting fanfiction anymore, but writing something for a new (very large, very active, very talented) fandom is unnerving. If you choose to read, I hope you enjoy it. Thanks to @stjohn27 and @musette22 for extra eyes and support.
Rating: Excessively Fluffy Warnings: No content warnings apply. Length: approximately 2200 words AO3 link
Prompt: Chris Steve and Sebastian Bucky trading soft, sleepy kisses as they cuddle up in bed after a long day, burrowed together under a soft, fluffy duvet. Their guards down, eyes closed, curled into each other as they steal soft little kisses right before they fall asleep in each other’s arms.
 ___________________________________________________________
“I’m here,” Steve calls as he enters his apartment. He’s been waiting all day to get home to Bucky, and he’s finally able to toss aside his responsibilities and spend time with the person he loves most in the world.
There’s no answer, which he finds a little disconcerting as he sets his bag down on the couch and shrugs off his jacket. Patches of lights from floor and table lamps litter the walls, but the apartment is quiet and lacks the liveliness he expected as he anticipated his arrival. Bucky’s supposed to be here.
Steve jumps as a soft thump echoes behind him. He turns to see an upturned face with wide eyes and a swishy snow-white tail. With a fond grin, he scratches Alpine under the chin and coos, “Where’s your daddy, sweetheart?” The cat leans into his fingers before yawning widely and sauntering out of the room and down the hall. As he watches, she disappears into the master bedroom without a care in the world.
“Buck?” Steve asks as he patters behind the animal. “Where are you? What are you doing?”
He enters the bedroom and swivels his head to survey the entire area. Bucky’s nowhere to be found—that is, until Alpine jumps up on the bed and the lumpy mattress makes an unglorified “hmph”.
 “Bucky?”
A grumble emanates from under the duvet, and Steve approaches the bed and pulls the blankets down to reveal his boyfriend tangled in the sheets. His long brown hair spills over his shoulder blades, and Steve trails the tips of his fingers over the bare skin of his neck peeking through the dark strands.
 “Bad day?”
Bucky nods and sniffles as he buries his face deeper into the pile of pillows until his head almost disappears.
“You want to talk about it?” he asks gently, hoping to get Bucky to turn over and give him a smile.
Bucky shakes his head fiercely, which only succeeds in burrowing his head further until he’s covered down to his shoulders. Sighing, Steve nudges him sideways so he can sit on the edge of the mattress. When he’s braced enough not to slip off and land on the floor on his ass, he tries again.
“Is there anything I can do to convince you to come out from under there?”
Bucky grunts but, otherwise, doesn’t move, so Steve seeks out the warm skin of his boyfriend’s lower back. Bucky hums at the touch, but that quickly turns to a whimper when Steve rises and moves away from the bed. Without looking, Bucky reaches with his right arm and grasps at empty air.
“Give me a minute, sweetheart. Bathroom, pajamas, and then I’ll join you.”
Bucky’s hand drops so the crook of his elbow curves over the edge of the mattress. Steve takes that as his cue to move and does his business and changes into sleep pants and a tank top in record time. He slips through the apartment turning off the lights and setting the alarm before moving back down the hall and standing by the bed.
Bucky’s still nestled so deep in the bedding he’s practically invisible, and Steve chuckles softly at how adorable his boyfriend is when he’s sad or happy or excited or irritable or upset or—well, really anything. Bucky’s always as precious as gold, especially when he’s hiding from the world and waiting for Steve to come home to help make things better.
“Hey,” Steve says as he pulls back the duvet and slips underneath. When he’s on the same plane as Bucky, he can just barely make out the furrowed brow and trembling lips of the love of his life, and he reaches over and brushes hair out of those beautiful gray-blue eyes. Eyes that happen to be filled with tears and sorrow. “What’s wrong, baby?”
A broken noise catches in the back of Bucky’s throat, and Steve scoots closer so he can press up against his side. He’s stiff with tension, and Steve works to ease the rigidity of Bucky’s upper body.
“Shhh, I’m here,” he says in a soft, soothing voice that he hopes radiates a comforting vibe. “I’m right here. What’s got you all huddled up under the covers hiding from the big bad world?”
Bucky curls instinctively toward him and tucks his head under Steve’s chin. His hair tickles, but Steve tightens his arms around him and holds on tightly. The sniffles and whimpers intensify for a few minutes and then subside into quiet sighs that hold the weight of the world in their echoes.
“You’re so strong, Bucky. Brave and smart and loving. Selfless.” He drops a kiss to the crown of his boyfriend’s head. “Generous and compassionate. Tender-hearted and kind.”
“No, I’m not,” Bucky grumbles, and he shakes his shoulders miserably.
“You are,” he insists in a soft whisper directly into Bucky’s ear. “You’re all of those things and a hundred other wonderful things more. I’m so proud of you. Love you so much.”
Incrementally, Bucky’s shoulders relax under the resolve of Steve’s embrace until he’s limp and calm. His breaths even out into deep inhales and slow exhales that puff against Steve’s chest and trail along his neck.
“I went to the grocery store,” Bucky mumbles against Steve’s shoulder. “You asked if I could pick up a few things, and I had a list. I thought it was going to be okay.”
“I take it things didn’t go as planned?”
Bucky shivers in his arms, and he runs his hand absently along Bucky’s right arm, all the way down to his wrist and then back up to his biceps, solid and hard even when unflexed. The latent power beneath Bucky’s soft skin is one of the sexiest things Steve’s ever had the pleasure of feeling.
“There were so many people there. Some sort of vendor appreciation day and people with samples at the end of every aisle. All of them shoving stuff in my face and yelling at me to take it. I couldn’t find what you—we—needed, and there was no one to ask for help, and then someone dropped a gallon of milk, and I—” He chokes on his words, and Steve squeezes his elbow to comfort him. “The bang was so loud, Steve. I had to get out of there.”
“That’s okay, Bucky. It’s okay. You did great.”
“I ran home, and I crawled in here. All you wanted was for me to help you out. All I had to do was get some milk and eggs and bread and whatever the hell else it is that you think we need when a storm’s coming, and I couldn’t… I just couldn’t. I’m sorry, Stevie.”
“You don’t have to apologize to me, Buck.”
 “But I—”
“No, stop. You followed your instinct. Fight and flight are two perfectly acceptable options, and in this case, I think you hiding in bed is a hell of a lot better than beating up a baby boomer in a black apron and baseball cap hocking cheese to unsuspecting grocery shoppers.”
Bucky snorts, and Steve’s heart expands three sizes in his chest. That sound is music to his ears.
“So, can I get a kiss? Because I’ve been home for approximately 25 minutes, and I still haven’t even seen your face.”
Bucky pulls back to loll his head against Steve’s shoulder. A wry smile graces his lips, and his eyes are hooded and gloomy. “What? This old mug?”
“I happen to really, really like everything about it.”
“Like what?” Bucky asks, his tone suddenly cheeky.
“I don’t know,” Steve answers. “Maybe these lips.”
He brushes his over Bucky’s, and both release tiny moans as electricity sparks between them.
 “These old things?”
“Old just means they have experience and know what they’re doing.”
A contented sigh reverberates through Bucky’s chest, and Steve slants his head to capture his boyfriend’s mouth in a searing kiss. Their lips part, and Steve slips his tongue into Bucky’s mouth. Heat spirals into a comforting, scorching bubble that eventually eases Bucky’s worries until he’s grinning so hard they can’t kiss anymore.
 “Feel better?”
Bucky nods and smiles sheepishly. “Much. No beating up anyone in aprons today.”
Steve smooths the hair off Bucky’s forehead and kisses him there gently. “Have you eaten?” he asks and rolls his eyes when Bucky shakes his head self-consciously. “You forget?”
 “I forgot.”
“Up,” Steve insists and tosses the duvet aside. “You need food.”
“I don’t want food,” Bucky whines, but he rises from the bed and follows Steve dutifully into the kitchen. Steve knows he’s hungry, no matter how much he pretends to be put upon by having to leave the bed. Steve heats some food and whips up a salad while pointing at Bucky to have a seat at the table.
“Sit,” he insists. “I’ve got you.”
Although it always drives Bucky a little up the wall to be coddled this way, Steve can tell his panic attack earlier exhausted him. Bucky watches him with tired eyes until Steve blushes.
“What?” he asks, a rueful grin twitching at the corner of his mouth.
“Just grateful for a boyfriend who loves me enough to take over when I’m not okay.”
“It’s definitely a hardship,” Steve teases, but Bucky refuses to let him make light of his words.
“I’m serious, Stevie,” he insists. “And even better than you taking over, I also know I only have to eat before I can climb back into bed, pull the covers over my head, and cuddle with you while Alpine curls up into the curve behind my knees. Because that sounds really amazing right now.”
“Well, here’s to amazing leftover spaghetti,” Steve announces as he sets a plate in front of Bucky.
Steve fills his boyfriend in on his day at work as the two eat. After a few minutes, he remembers the bottle of wine in the fridge and pours them each a glass. There’s certainly not enough alcohol to get either of them drunk, but sipping the drink seems to ease the tension in Bucky’s face.
“Leave the dishes,” Bucky pleads once they’ve eaten. “I know it bothers you not to clean up, but I’m a little desperate here. Sensory overload is a thing, and I could use a blank slate. White sheets seem like a great idea right about now.”
Alpine meows from beneath the table, and Steve smiles indulgently. “Give me five minutes. Go ahead. I’ll be right behind you.”
Bucky doesn’t resist, so Steve hurries as much as he can. It only takes a few minutes to get the kitchen the way it should be, and then he rushes into the bedroom where Bucky’s…asleep. Curled on his side with wisps of hair brushing against his cheek. Steve can’t stop the dopey grin from sliding over his face. He has the most remarkable boyfriend in the entire world, and it doesn’t help at all that there’s a soft, fluffy, pristine white cat curled up on the pillows purring like a machine.
He crosses to his side of the bed and as carefully as possible lifts the duvet to slide under it. He’s not cautious enough because Bucky wakes as the mattress dips, and he blinks at Steve through sleepy eyes.
“Hey,” he says with a wide yawn. “I know you.”
Steve leans over to brush his lips against his boyfriend’s and is rewarded with an uncharacteristic giggle. “I know you, too. Your name’s Bucky.”
“Who the hell is Bucky? What a dumb name.”
“It’s the worst. If that’s what people called me, I’d be totally embarrassed.”
Bucky smirks as he scoots across the bed, so he’s pressed up against Steve. “Good thing I don’t embarrass too easily.”
 “You don’t, huh?”
“Not even remotely,” Bucky answers, his voice as husky as Steve’s.
Their lips meet. And then again. Over and over in sweet, gentle caresses until Steve melts.
“I’m sorry about your day, baby,” he whispers into the darkness between them. There’s just enough light from the windows for him to see the sparkle in Bucky’s eyes. “If I could have, I would have gone with you.”
“That’s because you’re a good human, Stevie. A really, really good human who also happens to be a really terrific kisser.”
Steve slides his arms around Bucky and pulls him closer until their foreheads meet. “Are you sure?”
 “I might need more evidence.”
Their mouths slot together repeatedly, soft whispers and confessions falling between them as their eyes grow heavier. Steve pulls the duvet up to their chins and slips his arms back around Bucky as their fingers and legs tangle together under the sheets. Steve’s chest warms his boyfriend’s back, and he curls tighter until they’re spooned together.
“Love you, Stevie,” Bucky slurs, his voice heavy with fatigue.
“Love you, too, Buck,” he murmurs. “Go to sleep, baby.”
His eyes droop closed, and he brushes his lips against Bucky’s twice more before they both drift into sleep. Alpine watches them both for a few minutes before yawning and curling into a ball next to Bucky’s chest. She kneads the material for a few seconds and then follows her owners into slumber.

2018 Writing Round-Up Post!
It got very long, so I’ve done it on Dreamwidth rather than here, so here’s the link!
Short summary: I wrote more overall in 2018 than in 2017, though less fanfic and more published original fic; I finished off two of my big fanfic series (Like Sugar, in the Evanstan* world, and the McFassy Regency stories); I published a couple of full-length books that you can buy in print(!); and I became a fandom, or at least there’s now a fandom tag for my Demon universe stories on AO3! (Which I should really write that hurt/comfort fic for, and contribute to...)
*technically there’s one more Extra Sugar bonus scene to go, but the main story arc is all done!
(I haven't listed the actual academic scholarly work - a book chapter! on romance and outlaws and food and community! and a book review! - because they're not out yet and the curse of academic publishing is slowness, but I did also write those, as far as word count. So add around 15,000 words of academic writing to all this.)
I feel pretty accomplished, really. And I wouldn’t have done it without you guys: I love you.

Meeting Chris x2 and Seb
This is a long post but it has some good stuff if you’re a big Chris Evans and/or Sebastian Stan fan. Also, some good Stucky/Evanstan stuff going on. ;)
HERE GOES!!!
May 24th: Meeting Chris the first time.
So, I’m going to do my best to compile this info and all the pics and videos. It might be useful for other fans and there are some cute Seb and Chris videos and pics here, so why not?
So, on Saturday the 24th, a friend and I decided to go down to the stage door and hopefully see Chris. We are seeing the play soon, but we knew our best chances to see him would be to wait on a different night. We got there pretty early and were the first in line. After waiting for a while, the anticipation really started to build.
We were lucky enough that he did come out and sign that night. He signed my little action figure’s shield.
Tumblr media
He is definitely a pro at signing fast, and you can tell he’s a bit nervous by all the people. But he really does seem to care and want to give back, but you can tell by his body language he is a bit anxious, which is totally understandable. He looked like such a cutie and was very nice. Said “you’re welcome” when I said thank you and looked me in the eye briefly which was wonderful. All I could manage to say was thank you over and over, tbh.
He waved goodbye to us briefly as he got into his car. Overall, it was a really sweet and lovely experience, and he really does look adorable in person even with the mustache! He’s real cute, y’all.
Here are a couple links to the videos I took of him that night:

March 26th: Meeting Chris again and meeting Seb.
So, we were pretty happy with our Chris encounter. We know he’s really busy and such a big star that even getting a small moment like that with him is really amazing. We are going to see Seb at Wizard World in Philly, so we weren’t too concerned about more meetings or anything, but....then....
I saw on Twitter that Sebastian had been to the little red carpet for the official opening night of “Lobby Hero.” I texted my friend like, “OMG seb is going to see Chris tonight!” So, she was all, “are we gonna go?” and like, duh, of course we were.
Let me just preface this by saying we were already pretty hyped after that Marvel poster with Bucky and Steve which had been released this same day. This one:
Tumblr media
Anyway, it just seemed like there was a buzz in the air. So, I met up with her at the stage door again. We debated about which door Sebastian would come out of and made friends with the stage hands who were like, “well, we don’t really know,” but they were nice about it which was sweet of them. Think they thought we were a bit odd but also you know, harmless and nice. The one guy did say that he saw Sebastian earlier taking photos with fans and that he was just a really nice guy.
We met a couple other women there who were also there to see Seb. They had met him before and said he was amazing. We ended up splitting up, so my friend and one of the other women went to the audience doors and the other two of us stayed at the stage door.
This is when things get wild.
Like two minutes later the audience starts spilling out the doors. I am looking over at my friend cause I just had a feeling, and she starts yelling at me. I literally book it over there, and there is Sebastian.
Now, let me just say I know he is beautiful, but wow he was even more beautiful in person. I don’t understand how? But he is very tall (which I didn’t expect) I felt he towered over us. He smells sooooo good. Like it just emanates from him. It’s impossible not to notice. As you can see from the video a different fan posted with the guy yelling at him about it. haha.
I honestly was pretty starstruck by him, but he is also just very nice and like patient with fans. Lots of people were trying to get his attention, and he always looks a little lost (awww he’s so cute). But, if you could get his attention, he will pretty much do what you want. So, I went over and asked if I could hug him, gave him a sidearm hug, and took some selfies with him. He is pretty accommodating about pictures, like he leans down and smiles a bit, and you can tell he wants you to get a picture.
My pics with Seb:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My friend looked blurry in the pics, so she ran back to him and was all, “my picture was blurry can I have another.” So, he said yes, and I took this lovely video. The one of him steadying my friend’s hand to help ensure her picture didn’t turn up blurry again.
Here’s the twitter link to her post about it:
https://twitter.com/Moondancer1626/status/978448098568654848
A gif of him steadying her hand:
https://twitter.com/TheSebNews/status/978615571611865088
And a gif of him looking at me taking the video haha:
Tumblr media
The link to that gif if it doesn’t load:
https://twitter.com/adamantaflame/status/978725219874598913
He walked off into the distance after that. He didn’t even get into his own car or anything which shocked us. He is very sweet and stopped with pretty much everyone who got his attention about a picture. He mutters a lot of “all right, all right, okay, okay, thank you, you’re welcome.” With the cutest, softest, muttering voice.
Here is that video with him telling everyone to go back and see Chris:
https://twitter.com/chrisevuhns/status/978450071816720384
Now, Chris again:
So, apparently, not a lot of people listened to Seb about going to meet Chris, silly people. But, this worked in our favor.
There were only two teenagers who had been there with us earlier and their parents waiting at the stage door at this point. So, we figured it would be a great chance to meet Chris again in a more chill setting, so, of course, we were gonna stay. We all decided that we would ask him for a group photo since the crowd was so small. I think maybe only 5-8 other people end up there waiting for him. So, these teens parents were all there to take a picture if he agreed.
Honestly, I’m shocked more people didn’t wait. But, I think most of the audience was like VIP people and celebrities who didn’t care much about meeting Chris per se.
The stage manager guy told us to get our cameras ready, and Chris came out. He seemed much more comfortable and just seemed overall happy. He just had an adorable energy and seemed happy we were there, and it was just really sweet. The girl we didn’t know asked if he would take a group photo with us, and he was all “there aren’t many people here so sure!” Awww.
Here is the video I took of him:
https://twitter.com/adamantaflame/status/978466557327265792
He let us take multiple pictures before walking away. The best part for me is I ended up leaning back a bit to fit in the pictures and he lightly grabbed onto his elbow and he did the same to me, and just wow, I will remember that forever! haha
I feel like Chris is a hard one to get a picture with because he doesn’t love the big crowds and tends to not do pictures when there are a lot of people like that. So, I feel very, very happy!!! He is honestly adorable and the biggest nerd and so sweet in all the best ways.
Here are the pics:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, yeah, we were just so freaking giddy and happy and loving life at this point!!!! I moved to NYC a week ago, and I can’t believe this all happened, tbh.
Then, we saw this picture get released:
Tumblr media
And we were freaking out! because we finally got a new Seb/Chris picture! And, we were there that night and saw them both. so, we were feeling like we got to see this iconic Stucky/Evanstan moment play out a bit, and that was exciting for our shipper hearts. Definitely just a big awwwww moment that Seb went to see Chris’ play on the official opening night, and we got to see them both! <3
So, that’s how it all went down! They are lovely people, adorable, cute, beautiful, and kind. Looking forward to seeing Sebastian again at Wizard World and being able to meet him in a more chill setting. I didn’t think it possible, but I LOVE THESE BBS EVEN MORE NOW!!! <3 <3

Thanks for the tag @not-withoutyou and @sam-i-am-100 😘
Name: Max
Fandoms: I've written for Stucky and Evanstan, Supernatural, Harry Potter and Wolfstar, and Hamilton, as well as some original fiction. Most of it is not great, and right now I'm only publicly linked to my Stucky and Evanstan fics.
Two-shot: None posted yet, but I'm working on two right now. One is a follow-up to Love In Aisle Four, and the other is an HTP first-part-trash, second-part-recovery fic.
Most popular multi-chaptered fic: I haven't posted any multi-chaptered fics with this account yet.
Actual worst part of writing: Finishing things. I tend to get really excited about things, write a couple thousand words, and then get excited about other things and start on them. And then I return to the first things and finish them, but it's slower and takes a few months. So basically I have about 30 half-written fics. Some that only need a page or two to finish. I should finish those...
How you choose your titles: I have a long google doc with random ideas, song lyrics, poetry lines, cool sounding titles, etc. If I can't find something there that fits, I usually look through the fic for something.
Do you outline?: Yup. More in-depth for longer fics, but for everything I try to at least have an idea of where the story is going. Not that I always stick to the outline, but it's at least there.
Ideas you probably won't get around to but wouldn't it be nice: No clue. Since fandom and fic writing is a hobby, I try to treat it like a "go where my interests take me" thing, which means when my interests change, I try not to hold myself to finishing things that don't interest me any longer 🤷‍♂️
Call outs @ me: How bout you finish what you start, huh?
Best writing traits: My characterization is pretty good, I think.
Spicy tangential opinion: The popularity of a fic doesn't determine it's quality. Just because you disagree with a characterization doesn't mean it's wrong, just stick to your own fic and let people do their thing. While we're on characterization though, "top" and "bottom" aren't actually personality traits. Beta readers don't get enough credit for their work and I commend mine for making my fics better.
I tag @hanitrash @becassine @darter-blue
Fic Writer Interview
Thank you so much for tagging me @greyhavensking <3
_____
Name: Rach
Fandoms: I’ve only ever posted stucky, but I did write some teen wolf stuff years ago that I promise will never see the light of day.
Two-shot: I don’t have any.
Most popular multi-chaptered fic: currently it’s All These Things That I’ve Done , which is the first part of the Battle Born series. It has 13k hits at the moment
Actual worst part of writing: I hate editing. I hate it. I mean, I’ll do it. But I overthink myself into bad moods sometimes and convince myself that my writing isn’t actually any good.
How you choose your titles: The series I’m working on now are all lyrics from the Killers
Do you outline?: I try to for multi chapter fics. Idk if I do it successfully, though, because my stories tend to run off on tangents as they please.
Ideas you probably won’t get around to, but wouldn’t it be nice: I do have plans to write a Natasha story. My problem is that I can’t multitask for shit, so it’ll problem happen in a few years when I can dedicate time to it and the Battle Born series is done. But who knows, maybe it’ll speak to me sooner.
Call outs @me: stop with the run-on sentences, rach. jeez
Best writing traits: people say they like my characterization and dialogue. I’m apparently really good at making people cry
Spicy tangential opinion: listen maybe I’m gonna get cancelled for this, but who the fuck cares if a trope has already been done or people have already written about a certain thing. If you have a thing that you feel like you need to write, just do it.
I don’t know if y’all have done this already, but I’ll tag @ixalit @its-tortle @somanywords @musette22 and anyone else who wants to go xx

I'm sorry but I've been a follower of yours blog for a few months I think even a year now and as much as I respect you as a writer and love how you write for characters and settings I'm a little disturbed by going in your search engine of finding out that you are a wincest fan? Do you still support wincest? Or was that just a thing in the past you done. It makes me kinda uncomfortable now reading your stories and know that my fav writer liked incest
Okay, gosh, let’s unpack this! There’re at least two questions, and one very big and somewhat concerning assumption about the nature of fanfic, here. So let’s start with that…
First - and I’m not saying this assumption’s your fault, especially if you are a Younger Fandom Person; this was much more widely understood even, oh, about five years ago, I think - let’s be very clear: reading or writing something in fanfic does not equate to approving of that thing in real life. Got it? Let’s say it again:
Reading or writing something in fanfic does not equate to approving of that thing in real life.
Think of all the fanfic tropes that deal with non-con, or dubious consent, or extreme kink, or kidnapping, or torture scenes, or whatever else you’re thinking about now that I’ve brought it up. People read and write fic for all sorts of reasons - to explore and interrogate reactions to trauma or desire, to think about the various sides and desires of characters (and by implication all of humanity), to personally cope with situations that may’ve happened, to reclaim pleasure in a safe fictional space, to explore a “what if” in a safe fictional space - you can never really know someone’s reason for writing a fic unless they flat-out tell you, and even then that’s just what they choose to disclose. (I’ve written non-con, to pick an example - I’ve certainly written it in at least one RPF story, and I obviously don’t wish that upon the actor in question in real life! I’ve also written kidnapping and torture scenes! I’m planning to write a sex pollen Evanstan fic, the sequel to the witch!Seb and temporarily-hexed-into-a-puppy!Chris fic! Which hopefully will be a little bit funny and a little bit hot and decadent, and will also deal with questions of consent and the first time they have sex in this relationship and some related Big Themes in a safe and playful context, but which, again, I would never want to see actually happen to them in real life - that’d be genuinely horrific! Separation of fiction and reality, right? And also Seb’s not a witch, as far as we know! And Chris Evans doesn’t randomly turn into a puppy!) (Well, maybe that last one… :-p) (Kidding, kidding…)
So! Okay, we’re all clear on that? Good! Moving on to the question part, which is really two questions: did I write Wincest, and is it something I still do?
To the second, because that’s a shorter answer: no, I don’t write any SPN-related fic anymore, and haven’t for a few years. Mostly it’s out of sheer disillusionment with the show overall - I still have a soft spot for Sam and Dean, and for Jared and Jensen, and I still watch the show (it’s research; I’ve gotten a couple of academic articles out of it), and I might still occasionally reblog a cute pic or two or react to a massive plot development. But I’m not really invested emotionally anymore, and I have to be, in order to write fic of any type. So don’t be expecting any SPN fic of any type, Wincest or Dean/Castiel (honestly, unpopular opinion time - and this is my personal opinion, no reflection on anyone who feels differently: I don’t actually like Castiel as a character…) or, heck, I don’t know, John Winchester/Bobby Singer, none of that, to show up on this blog, at least nothing new. :-p
To the first: yes, I wrote…two? three? I forget? Sam/Dean fics, like maybe ten or so (has it been that long?! when was season four? that was around when I posted the first one) years ago; the first one was by request, and then I wrote a couple more because that one opened the floodgates, kind of, and I had a couple of ideas. I also wrote, oh, two or three J2 RPF fics. I was still learning how to be a writer and they probably aren’t very good, honestly. The context for this was right around seasons 3-5 - and, frankly, Sam and Dean were presented as the most important people to each other, co-dependent (hell, the show even said, as I recall, “erotically” co-dependent), Sam had demon blood things going on anyway, and they were obviously the people without whom each other’s lives would not be complete (I’d argue that this dynamic has shifted, but that’s a whole new post), and that invited exploration of this kind of relationship, with the heightened and (arguably, but academics have persistently noted this in the show’s gaze and use of narrative tropes, particularly in early seasons; there’s been scholarly work on this) passionately charged intensity. (Again, see above, about exploring narratives and spaces in fiction that one would not condone in real life!)
So, am I embarrassed about it? Nah, or only insofar as the writing’s not great and I totally did things like the Bathroom Revelation Cliche, and so on. It’s part of my fandom history, and it’s fanfic, not real life, with all the context surrounding that fictional relationship. (Better fic writers than me have spent a lot of time explaining why Sam/Dean is worth exploring - there’s some brilliant meta on that, or there used to be, back on LJ; I don’t have any good links anymore unfortunately - I’m sure you can go and find them if you want to look into fandom history and context and culture, as we should all probably do from time to time!) But do I write that pairing anymore? Nah, though not because I’ve decided it’s Morally Wrong or whatever; no, I’m just out of room to care, or to care deeply enough to be inspired to create, anyway.
Hope that answers that!

Okay also I am SERIOUSLY going to properly try to organize (a bit late, I know) this year’s Evanstan Round Robin Fic! So that we can squeeze things in while it’s still 2017!
Last year was most excellent, so I shall tag people who came to play in that one, and anyone new who might want to join us. I’m kind of thinking that we start off in a couple weeks? I’ll be in Hawaii from this Thursday (11/9) until Tuesday (Nov 14), so maybe the week *after* that? Depending on how many people want in/people’s schedules?
(I am also kind of thinking some sort of holiday-related fake-dating plot but ??? we can discuss)
Link to last year’s Round Robin on AO3, for reference:
http://archiveofourown.org/works/8378476/chapters/19193818
Some people I’m tagging, and feel free to share and/or join in even if you weren’t in last year! We love new and old writers. We love everyone. @concavepatterns @marciellaniello  @itsvarza, @viperbranium, @thebestpersonherelovesbucky, @boopifer, @bearceptionus, @accol-fics, @worrisomeme, @brendaonao3, @amarulasmile, @little-lottie, @ms-zilia, @hakunahistata, @prplprincez
General Guidelines under the read more:
1. the way a Round Robin works is, one person writes a small chunk of the story, then someone else jumps in, then someone else, and so on, and at the end we generally give the first person a chance to write one more time (since they didn’t get to respond to anyone, the first time)
2. word count per person…roughly probably 200 to 1,000 words. I mean, I’m not gonna count words, so that’s somewhat flexible. (And we all know how bad I am at estimating my own fic length…) On the other hand, be considerate - this is not the place to write 20 words and not advance the story at all, nor the place to hijack the storytelling with your 50k epic, right? right.
3. depending on number of participants, to keep momentum going, you’ll probably have between 2 and 5 days to post your contribution, after the person before you posts theirs. More on scheduling later, after I ask you all about that.
4. because the goal is to be inclusive and to have fun, please avoid topics that may be triggers or squicks, for example noncon, abuse, underage, self-harm, or really *heavy* BDSM. Being malicious about this will have Consequences.
5. consensual sex is fine but please keep it contained within your own contribution - not everyone’s comfortable writing sex, so please don’t get them right to the brink and then hand the climax off to the next person, as it were (exception: if you know and have discussed this with the person writing immediately after you, and they’re cool with that, then that’s cool)
6. in general, be respectful of your fellow authors! If someone says it’s autumn in New York, as a setting, don’t randomly without explanation decide they’re living in Australia in the summer. Likewise, don’t have Chris or Seb wake up and go, “wow, that last chapter was all a terrible dream!” That devalues the contribution of the person who wrote that chapter. Basically, y’know, the point is to have fun and to take what you get from previous contributors and play with that, like a neat shiny delightful fic-toy that we all make together, so remember that everyone’s playtime is equally valid.
7. we have an Evanstan end goal, though how we get there is certainly flexible! One of the McFassy versions I contributed to ended up including a flying unicorn spaceship and alternate-dimension versions of the main pairing turning up in their apartment. Anything goes. :-)
8. once we have a more confirmed time frame/participant list, I’ll ask you if you’d rather contribute more towards the beginning, middle, or end, as far as writing your bit!

Note
I like your fic but I hate reading WIPs can you make it more obvious when something is a finished/full piece please not just a tag that gets hidden away. Also what are your favorites of your finished fics?
Do you mean on here (tumblr), or on AO3?
If on tumblr, 95%(*) of my fic on here isn’t finished/full fic - that’s been true since I joined tumblr! I mostly use it to post snippets or previews, testing reactions to specific scenes, or to provide links to completed stories or chapters on AO3, usually with a small teaser. To answer the specific question, I actually do that already - in the little intro bit I write before all fic-related stuff, the language will say something like, “here is a piece of...” or “here’s something I’m working on...” or “have a snippet of...” or, like the bit I posted most recently, “this is probably the Evanstan half of the opening chapter...” (note the ‘probably’ and ‘opening chapter’ - clearly this isn’t finished?),  plus the ‘fic in progress’ tag; does that help?
(*) on the occasions that fic on here IS complete, which it sometimes is for shorter things, like a thank-you gift or a five-sentence writing meme or something, the little intro bit will say something like, “here’s a fic for...” rather than “a piece of a fic” - see the distinction? And the tag will say ‘my fic’ or ‘our fic’ or something with ‘fic’ in it that’s not also ‘in progress’.  :-)
If you mean on AO3, check the chapter count - at the beginning, where all the info, like word count, tags, etc are. It’ll say something like “3/3,” or “4/9,” which should tell you how many chapters there currently are/will be. Most of my fic on AO3 is complete - I think the ones that aren’t are a couple of Cherik fics, an original story, and of course the current in-progress Evanstan fic, Ordinary World. (There are a couple of instances, like Like Sugar, where the *series* has another story, but each individual story so far is complete.)
Does that help? I mean, I’m not sure what would make that more clear? Other people, is it not actually as clear as I think it is?
And, hmm, favorites of my own fic...oh, man. So hard!  It depends on what I’m in the mood for, and which fandom! But let’s see...maybe I’ll pick one from each of my big four fandoms, since you didn’t specify?
1. Evanstan - I want to say Like Sugar, specifically the first story, Like O, Like H, because even if the series has one more story, the stories are all individually complete and so you could read one at a time. And I love Like O, Like H - writing it made me a better writer. But if you want a complete one-shot, not part of a series, then maybe (baby won’t you please) run your fingers through my hair, because I love their dynamic in that one. Or Amateur Cartography just because I’m so damn proud of what we made.
2. Stucky - tales to astonish, because I had so much fun writing Bucky’s pulp fiction stories! or When You Save Me because I normally hate writing action scenes but I’m really proud of how that one came out!
3. Cherik - Pineapple Revolution, because it was hard and wonderful and a challenge and a success! And I really like a lot of the imagery.
4. McFassy - I’m going to be weird and say Excavations, one of the later ones, just because I really like my writing in it! I could also say the whole Epic Universe of Porn and Hurt/Comfort, too, which was the most ambitious thing I’d attempted *before* Like Sugar.
Enjoy! :-)
