The smell of cigars filled your home: you never thought you would deliberately find yourself smoking.
But there you were, looking at the cloudy skyline while you threw out the unhealthy smoke.
Your phone rang and you pulled it out of your pocket.
The ninth call of the day. Three times three is the charm.
“What the fuck do you want?” You neutrally ask, ignoring the beating of your heart.
“…y/n? Thank goddess you’re answering” You roll your eyes. “We need to talk, there’s a lot you-“
“Jeong-won, I don’t want to talk about anything with you” The exasperated tone in your voice doesn’t go unnoticed by him, which makes him feel even more stressed out. “In fact, I don’t want you to keep calling me. I don’t want you messaging me. I don’t want to have your follow on social media. I don’t want to hear your music in the clubs. I don’t want to ever fucking see your face again”
“Please, y/n. I don’t deserve to explain myself but-“
“I told you, you only had to pay for that dinner and forget about me. I suppose you didn’t mend things with your wife…” you abruptly cut him off, watching the smoke of the cigar fly out of your place.
“It’s complicated…” he sounds tired, sad and pathetic.
“Yeah… Everything’s that way with you. I just didn’t want to see it” you spit out, hanging up, leaving him to make a mess over the deadline.
You didn’t know how, but you would try everything just to forget him. But when you get out of the apartment the first thing you notice is the public trash can.
There lies the flower bouquet that appeared at your door three days ago. It had been Jeong-won’s first attempt to say sorry.
But so far it wasn’t working.
…
Three weeks into trying to move on. The first days felt like walking throwing a dark alleyway with no return. Tears always find a way to run out of your eyes, but you couldn’t deny, that you felt better.
Your friends helped a lot. Seoun-mi was the only one who said that if Jeong-won insisted, you could let him explain himself. Ruby and Jade immediately said no.
The spring was right around the corner. The rain was slowly coming to an end. The coats were being replaced with sweaters and cardigans. Even the sun cooperated, warming enough to make you go out to run.
Jeong-won crossed the street to walk towards his car. He had submitted a mini EP of music, expected to release mid-spring.
The city looked active, almost as if everyone had been trapped by the winter. He pulled out the keys to his car when he looked up.
His feet dragged him away, noticing a woman jogging down the street.
His face turned in awe after realizing it was you. Your matching grey tracksuit was hard to miss. He remembered you mentioned you were asthmatic, he wondered if you carried your inhalator.
“Y/N!” Jeong-won couldn’t care less if everyone stared at him as if he was insane. He started running hoping to get your attention.
His heart started beating so fast, the rush of seeing your face again, the hope of having you by his side again.
But that didn’t happen, you didn’t even listen. Music was playing so loud through your wireless headphones.
Jeong-won stopped running. He stared at your blurred vision and sighed in dismay.
His phone rang and he answered, still looking at you.
“Are you busy?” In-ji asked.
“No. I’m going home…” the man answered.
…
As the desperation started to burn you, the need to go out also grew stronger.
Ruby and Seoun-mi had seminars, and Jade had a meeting with her major advisor.
The outcome? You dancing all alone in a club.
You couldn’t go to the same one where you used to go. That’s where you met Jeong-won, it was too painful.
But as the alcohol sinks in, you start to feel tipsy, alerting you to stop drinking.
For a second you thought it was already too late but Han Jeong-won was actually there.
He gently pushed people to come to you.
There isn’t even time to feel angry, nervous, or panicked.
“What are you doing here?” You ask loudly.
“I came with a friend…” he admits, looking hopeful.
When you try to sneak away, Jeong-won grabs your wrist and pushes you against his chest. Only to then kiss you.
In his arms, you felt safe.
With his kisses, you felt cherished.
The man who urgently smashed his lips with yours in the middle of the dance floor while music blasted from the speakers was the love of your life.
He couldn't resist the temptation. Couldn't miss the chance and needed to let you know he always loved you. That everything was true.
"Please, believe me..." he pleaded, holding your hands.
"Fuck you, Jeong-Won"
Frivolously, you leave the taste of poison on his lips. His hand tried to grab yours again, but you slipped, leaving him.
Like you had already done before.
But it didn't make it easier, because tears started falling down the first step out of the club.
And in the middle of the cold night, you slip into your coat and start a quiet walk towards home.
You wished you knew he was mourning a life he had before you.
…
Caffè Americano…
The smell fills your nostrils and the warmth of the cup soothes the cold of your hands. Too many thoughts have run through your head over the days. And it was very rushed to say you were over Jeong-won. Walking through the same streets you once walked while feeling in love was devastating, as dramatic as it sounded.
But it’s a good day. You can feel like you are reaching peacefulness and it’s enough.
It’s been a month and a half since you last saw him. The world is not fresh, but it’s still open.
You walk out of the coffee shop, your boots sound with every step you take and the cool air makes the very few cherry blossoms in the trees fall.
Your eyes scan the street; everyone is just there living.
When would you start feeling like yourself again?
Apparently not at that moment. After coming down the little steps of the coffee shop, you look up and meet two people talking, just inches away.
Why was life so cruel? Why do you have to meet your ex-boyfriend and his wife right then and there?
They feel someone standing in their eyes, but they try to act so normal, like you hadn’t seen them. You start walking away. With firm steps and a well-hidden urge to run as well.
His hair looked the same, but his face looked less tired. She looked younger if that was even possible, with longer hair and more casual clothes.
Jeong-won and In-ji stare at each other awkwardly.
“Go after her” she softly tells him. Jeong-won stares back at her with unease before turning back his attention to you.
He knew you wanted to run away the moment you saw them.
“We already met once. What if we met again and she’s in the middle once again?” He can’t deny the anxiety growing as you stop waiting for the traffic lights to change.
“Jeong-won, perhaps we were really never meant to be together…” his face almost turns into a childish pout.
But maybe… In-ji was right.
She was kind, supportive and caring. She would’ve been a great wife. But their marriage started as a contract, Jeong-won never knew her completely.
He never felt the same way he did with you.
“We couldn’t even say ‘I love you’ to each other…” the woman admitted with a sad smile.
Then both turned to look at you.
“Go, explain her everything. And if we see each other again. It’s because we are meant to be friends. But that’s it…” Jeong-won almost felt his eyes turn glassy. But he nodded, gave Noh In-ju a brief kiss on the forehead, and literally started running towards you.
For a moment he thought about
You are still waiting for the green light when you hear him. You spot a cab and make him a sign to stop by you.
“Y/N !” When you look back, you see Jeong-won running, out of breath with his hand waving in an attempt to make you notice him.
You sigh, already feeling stressed out.
“This needs to stop. I can’t take it anymore!” You almost yell as soon as he ends up face-to-face with you. “I know it was just a coincidence and she’s your wife, but it’s not fair. I can’t do this anymore…”
You’re so mentally exhausted that you don’t even notice your eyes tearing up until the cool air makes you aware of the tears.
“Please, don’t cry. If you just let me explain… you and I-“
Boom. You explode…
“YOU AND I, NOTHING!”
It spills out of your mouth. The words even hurt you since you know it’s not true. People around stare but you don’t care.
“This is why I can’t go out anymore. I’m so scared that I will have to see your face again… “ his heart breaks, he can’t stand your tired and hurt tone, your burning cheeks, and your red eyes.
He wants to make it better but doesn’t know how.
“I never wanted to hurt you…” he admits with his broken voice and you find the strength to chuckle. “I will remember that when I’m gone…”
“You’re leaving?” Jeong-won finds himself panicking, already desperate to make you stay.
“If the office approves my petition, yes. I’ll leave in three weeks” his face goes pale. “And even after everything… I can’t hate you, Jeong-won”
Your cab arrives just in time, and you disappear without saying anything else. You don’t even look at him again.
And as the cab drives away, you begin to think about anything else. In hopes of forgetting about everything, starting with his face.
…
2:00 am…
You can’t sleep. It was the following night after a hangover day. Your friends almost cried, pleading you stay at least the rest of the semester. You hadn’t thought about leaving the apartment and all of the good memories built there.
You look through the open curtains at the skyline. The same crystal diving you from the city that once was your lullaby as Jeong-won hugged you and combed his fingers through your hair.
You were so sober that you even questioned if he deserved to explain himself.
What if he was in a bad marriage and he couldn’t get divorced but started seeing you? No… Then why did they look very happy talking to each other the last time?
What if he actually never meant to cheat on his wife but tremendously fell in love with you? No… He still cheated and never told you about it.
But he said he loved you.
And he looked sincere while doing so…
*beep beep*
Your phone makes you touch the ground again.
After hours of being in the dark, the light of the screen blinds you for a second.
Five new messages…
Jeong-won ♡
You never removed the heart beside his name in the contract.
Jeong-won ♡ ׂ╰┈➤
I can’t sleep again.
and not because I’ve taken
the pills again. I miss you like
you have no idea.
I know I hurt you despite not
wanting to. But as I said, it’s complicated.
Jeong-won ♡ ׂ╰┈➤
My first wife and I had issues.
She always wanted to
control me. We almost had a kid,
but we lost it and that shattered my
life once again. So she urged me
to sign a fake marriage, now I see
how twisted and stupid it is.
Jeong-won ♡ ׂ╰┈➤
I was so uncomfortable when this
new woman appeared at my place.
It was already a bad place
and it added up to my neglect. It was
never my intention to cheat on In-ji.
I was only being friendly
that night we met in the club. But the
more I heard you, the more I realized
how lonely I was. It was luck or a fluke
that you were in that burger shop
days after.
Jeong-won ♡ ׂ╰┈➤
I swear to you, y/n, that every
word, caress, and moment I shared
with you was real. Never in my life
I’ve been more sure about
feeling like this. I wanted to tell
you about the marriage, but I
didn’t know how. I thought that
no matter how much I tried to
explain, it would sound terrible.
I was so close to falling in love
with her. But thank goodness
I didn’t, because I would have
settled for so little compared
to you. The marriage contract is
over. That day you saw us together,
it was the first time I saw her
in months. She told me to go after you.
Jeong-won ♡ ׂ╰┈➤
I don’t think it’s enough
explanation. But I hope it’s
enough for you to believe me
when I say I truly love you.
I’m so sure I want to waste as
many years as needed as long as
you forgive me. Please don’t leave,
I need you. Even when I don’t deserve
it.

You don’t cry, you don’t panic, you don’t even blink. You just lock the phone and set it aside. Your eyes locked on the ceiling as you start drifting off, succumbing to sleep.
…
It could’ve been any other day. But it was raining when you decided to drop the final papers to withdraw from the study abroad program and return home. The apartment was a mess, half of it already packed up inside carton boxes and the other half resting as if nothing was happening.
The decision was not properly made, that was clear.
Your head was a disaster, a swimming mess.
Your life has been quite boring but comforting ever since you entered your teenage years. Never in your wildest dreams, you thought you would be stressing over a failed relationship where the man was married.
Three months after that embarrassing night at the restaurant, you are in a very different place and situation.
The rain has stopped, the sun peaks between grey clouds but the streets are still a wet mess.
You avoid the puddles of water that form across the sidewalk. Your cable earphones get tangled with the bunch of papers in your arms. It’s annoying until you slow down to take them off and hold the papers properly.
You bump into someone. The altercation being a little violent makes you almost fall to your knees, but the stranger holds your shoulders.
And the papers fall from your hands, drenching in the water.
“Fuck…” you whisper, hurrying to kneel, not caring that your knees get wet, you can only save the top papers. You see the hands of the stranger also trying to save them. That’s when you look up at the stranger.
Without a warning you end up smiling, Jeong-won smiles back at the instant. Both of you chuckle.
The half-drenched papers slip from your hands again, completely drowning in the puddle of water.
“Is it too late?” He asks.
“For what?”
“For begging you to stay with me…” your hands snake to grab his. He had a black turtleneck sweater and a jacket hanging over his shoulder. He looked painfully gorgeous.
You think about all those hours you spent re-reading his messages.
“I think you have begged enough” you reply.
Needless to say… you just know it was meant to happen.
Your arms lock around his neck and it’s you the one kissing him. Jeong-won mentally sighs, feeling relieved and renewed.
You can feel his arms embracing you tightly, as if scared you would slip away from him again.
Out of breath, he rests his forehead against yours, witnessing how the pain slowly washed away.
“It’s okay…” you almost whisper, he nods, briefly smiling. “Jeong-won, let's go home”
You knew he understood. Both of you knew home was wherever the two of you were together.
…
The heat was slowly building up. The windows started to remain open all day and night. Jeong-won was slightly stressed out, he had an upcoming trip and was in a mall, outside of a candle store.
His phone was almost burning when he realized the day was indeed hot.
“Jeong-won?” He turns only to encounter In-ji, smiling brightly at him.
“In-ji…”
His ex-wife appeared upon him, looking gorgeous. She looked happy, with her long hair now dyed chocolate brown.
“How are you?” He asked giving her a quick hug. “I haven’t seen you in… a long time”
It had been a year, to be exact.
“What happened with y/n?” She asks straight to the point and Jeong-won chuckles. “Why are you laughing?”
“It was bad… Remember?” In-ji nods, then he points at a woman squatting while looking at candles inside the store.
It was you, wearing a sundress that hunched over the floor. A purse hanging from your shoulder with many keychains. And when you stood up and turned to the side, In-ji noticed your left arm was also busy, holding a newborn baby.
“HAN JEONG-WON, YOU HAD A BABY?” the man starts laughing while nodding. “Oh my goddess! Congratulations!”
“I can’t believe it myself” he admits after accepting the hug In-ji gave him.
It felt nice to see her. She was right, they functioned better as friends.
“It’s a girl, right? What’s her name?” His eyes brightened at the subject.
Jeong-won had a baby with you…
“She has two names. June Iseul” the name of the baby rolled over his tongue and he found himself smiling again.
June Iseul was born in the peak of the winter, weighing and measuring less than expected, with matted raven hair and grey irises that were slowly becoming like yours but shaped just like her fathers.
“That’s adorable!” In-hi admitted, feeling awe at the sight of the baby in your arms, wearing a rainbow onesie.
“And I guess you married her?” Jeong-won huffed.
You never denied how June Iseul had been an accident. She came to slow down your academic career, she also made you gain weight and lose some hair but her arrival amidst winter gave you half a year to recover. You felt amazing and June Iseul was growing healthy.
Jeong-won was happier than ever. He was just a little worried about the reason why they were in the mall. Your parents were slightly mad and very confused as to why you left home being single and a full-time student and you were going to visit them being a part-time student, with a boyfriend and a baby.
Jeong-won was nervous, excited, and eager to marry you.
“Well… happens that y/n doesn’t fully believe in traditional marriage. I’ve asked her on multiple occasions but she keeps saying that we shouldn’t push it yet” Jeong-won admits rolling his eyes, she chuckles, turning her head to see you invested in the newborn section. “She’s very smart”
“She is…” he agrees, joining the chuckles and smiling like an idiot at the sight of you with his daughter.
“Well I didn’t have a baby, but I got married” In-ji revealed, making Jeong-won almost gag.
“What? When?”
“Two weeks ago. I met him in Thailand and… I don’t know. I’m just… very happy” Both smiled, feeling in peace knowing everyone had moved on. “I’m happy for you, Jeong-won. I can tell you are living a dream”
“I’m also happy for you…” both smiled at each other.
…
An hour later, you are done shopping and the most important thing is in your hands; a stroller for June Iseul.
Jeong-won pushed the stroller as both of you walked towards a pasta restaurant.
“It sucks that you got me pregnant before my twenties ended. I should be in the club!” you object, exaggerating. You can hear Jeong-won huffing in disbelief.
“You literally go out to the club every week!”
He was right. Your life pretty much remained the same.
“And that’s one more reason I love you so much”
Even with the arrival of June Iseul, Jeong-won had no problems with staying with the baby while you attended classes or decided to hang out with your friends. He used to have a lot of free time, but now… he found the perfect routine.
“What are we ordering?” He asks, grabbing a menu as you both wait your turn to order and pay.
“You pick the pasta and I want a pizza with truffle oil. What do you say?” You negotiate with a smile.
He gets so lost in your beautiful face that he ends up smiling back like an idiot.
“What?” You ask again, chuckling at his silly face. “Nothing, I just love you so much”
You blush. And before you can say anything.
You hear some coos.
“I’ll order, you pick a table and feed Junjun” Jeong-won reassures you, knowing very well his daughter was demanding and using the silly nickname he had given her.
You take a seat at a secluded table and turn the stroller so you can uncover it.
June Iseul was awake.
“Hello, little blossom” she smiled and it melted your heart. “I know you’re hungry…”
She was very small and soft. She had that baby smell but as her mother, you thought your baby smelled perfectly compared to the others.
She locked her eyes with yours as you breastfed her, not caring about the attention because your back was facing the world, and the table was secluded enough to cover you.
June Iseul’s pale skin resembled her father’s, making her look a little like a porcelain doll. Like the one your friend Jade gifted her from Japan months ago.
The doll was very sophisticated and rested along with some baby books and toys.
“Your father isn’t very good at conversations with strangers, right?” You ask your baby as you pull her out of the stroller and into your chest. Your boyfriend seemed to awkwardly be exchanging words with the woman taking the order. It made you chuckle.
After a long night talking and him telling you every single detail of his life, everything changed.
Just when he got a little house in a modest neighborhood and asked you to move in, you accidentally got pregnant.
What seemed like a challenge turned out to be easier than expected. Jeong-won had been the perfect partner all along.
Ignoring the judgment from your peers in classes after you waddled around campus with a baby bump, everything was perfect.
Also ignoring all the insults you threw to Jeong-won while he held your hand in the delivery room, everything was perfect.
So seeing him come with the receipt of the order and taking June Iseul from your arms to burp her made you realize how lucky you were.
How fucked up things were until they weren’t.
You have a boyfriend begging you to marry him and a perfect baby that looks like him. Both are in wait to visit your homeland and parents for the first time.
The flash of your phone pulls Jeong-won out of his trance with June Iseul.
“Are you taking us a picture?” he asks.
“Yes, you both look so adorable” you admit looking at the screen. June Iseul perfectly locked eyes with his father and you captured it in a picture.
You would print it, use it as your lock screen, and send it to your friends.
Ruby immediately replies in the group chat, then Jade, and lastly Seoun-mi.

You lock your phone with a smile on your face as you stand up.
“Where are you going?” Jeong-won asks.
“To wash my hands, silly” You lean forward to kiss him briefly and you can feel him smiling amidst the kiss.
It’s inappropriate but since the table is secluded, you feel playful enough to add tongue and have a little touch with his.
And then you remember your daughter is in the middle of you two and had just burped.
“She spilled some milk…” Jeong-won hurriedly says, breaking the kiss.
You chuckle and kiss your daughter’s matted hair.
“Then clean her, Jeong-won,” you say before leaving to finally wash your hands. As your steps grow further, you can hear your boyfriend talking in Korean with June Iseul.
“Your mother is a little spitfire. That’s why I want to marry her…”
There’s an embarrassing smile on your face when you look at yourself in the bathroom mirror.

don't make me wait forever.
pairing: xia yi zhou / caleb x reader (love and deepspace)
cw: sfw. semi-prominent reader characterization (spoiled, occasional use of she/her pronouns, referred to as a "little sister" once). kisses. casual touches. throat holding (both by reader and by caleb). use of "older brother" to address caleb (not by reader). pipsqueak as a term of endearment. reader wears makeup. some spoilers from tender moments, memoria, and bond story. caleb typical warnings (manipulation if you squint).
wc: roughly 3-4k words. unnecessary word vomit.
author's note: a man who yearns is a man who EARNS. hi, it's me again! i had an idea and had to bring it to life. enjoy! ( ^ -. ^ )
Caleb wasn't lying when he said he spoiled you too much as children.
You didn't quite get it at first—he was nothing but sweet with the occasional menace during childhood, sure, but he didn't spoil you spoil you.
You were leaning into his chest, eyes closed while listening to the TV in the background as his large arm wraps itself around your waist. Tucking you against him, feeling his lips against the crown of your head.
"I baby you too much," he sighed, a mellow cheeriness beneath his words.
"And yet, you sound so happy over it," you grumbled. Sleep is so close yet so far, and you'd been squirming around in search of the closest boarding gate. His touch delicate as he pulled you onto his lap.
You snuggled closer on instinct. Picking up on the faint smell of sandalwood and something finer, richer. There was movement on your back, Caleb's palm stroking up and down, while the other held you by the back of your neck like an infant.
"I spoiled you, too."
You frowned, looked at him blearily. "Nuh-uh."
"Uh-huh." He pushed your head back onto his shoulder. "Go to sleep."
Sure, Caleb took extensive measures to ensure your comfortable upbringing with him. But you weren't spoiled.
Right?
But you go on your first date with someone that isn't him, and it kind of hits. Making an offhanded comment about how the water temperature was more cold than warm—you asked for room temp—doesn't result in your date immediately requesting another glass or them buying you bottled water from the convenience store across the restaurant.
Instead, you're told, "they probably forgot, it's fine" and the date continues. You watch the condensation form on your glass quietly. Every rational droplet is speaking to your acrid gut feeling—it's just water. It'll be room temperature eventually.
Later on, your date messages you. They asked if you got home safely, all the while you'd been drinking a glass of lukewarm water in Caleb's dining room. You pressed block once you heard his familiar, curious voice asking how the date went.
"It was meh." And you asked for another glass.
Another time, you'd been hanging out with old high school friends as a simple gathering. Though, you hadn't expected that it would lead to seemingly endless anecdotes in relation to you. Over fruit smoothies and café pastries, they'd all been exchanging stories once the conversation turns over to yourself in high school.
"Remember when she would always ask us to do stuff?" One girl laughed, cutting into her french toast.
Another cleared her throat, exaggerating her voice into a falsetto, "hey, can you get me a bun from the cafeteria? Oh, there's no more? Then, a banana milk and whatever pastry they have."
It earned a crackle of laughter along the table of five people. You, the object of discussion, smiling at the head of the table. Rather awkwardly, too, as you sipped on your drink.
"You forgot to add on the "you can do that at least, right?" at the end!"
"Oh, oh, the sulking too, if you don't do it!"
"She'd always complain about our fans, too."
"Oh my God, yeah. "Why does your fan battery run out so quickly? Did you not charge it?" Like, hello?"
One of the girls face you amidst the active exchange, grinning. Despite the recollection of your nature in the past, they weren't mad. Simply taking the entertainment value in it.
"Don't worry," and she said your name, placing a hand over yours on the table.
"You've got an older brother, right? It may have been annoying, but we're friends. You were like, our little sister."
A muscle in your jaw ticked. His face popped up in your face and you wanna punch him, despite him being nowhere near you at the time of this event. But, you laughed and nodded; acquiescing to her reassurance was easier this way.
It slipped out once more when you go out for movies with Tara. It's the same theater you and Caleb always frequented before. You already swiped your card for payment of movie food, and had besn walking to the screening room.
"Tara, can you check the bucket? Make sure it has enough butter on it?"
"Hm? Okay," she replied. While you scrolled on your phone, you heard the plastic lid of the bucket pop open.
"Seems good to me. You check."
When you move your attention over to the bucket, you're met with mediocre-looking buttered popcorn. The golden syrup of butter scattered over the pieces. You frowned. Since when were they so shy about buttering literal corn?
You stopped walking, brows furrowed. "It's so... pale. Let's go back and ask for more, I didn't pay for that."
"Huh? Oh, okay?" You didn't really register Tara's confused tone of voice until after you had a spat with the person at the popcorn station.
It was some moody teen probably working minimum wage. He was scowling while you talked about the butter portioning.
He sneered, "over some popcorn? Really? Were you that spoiled as a kid?"
It winded you. Tara was pulling at your arm, seeming to try and hold you back despite you being frozen. The manager came out once the commotion seems to stop, only because you were gobsmacked.
He'd been apologizing profusely to you and Tara upon recognizing you both as hunters; his eyes had landed on you with so much familiarity. He's probably been working here for a decade or so. Long enough to have previously seen you and Caleb at movie screenings.
Tara's at the butter dispenser of the self-service station—something they closed over half a decade ago apparently, but frantically opened for today, coincidentally—with you behind her when she finally spoke
She was a bit bewildered, but it was easy to pick up the lighthearted tone. "I didn't take you for the pampered type. That was the normal amount of butter on popcorn for most places."
You shook your head. "No, it wasn't. I was a regular here in the past. Every time we got a bucket of popcorn, they were always so generous with the salted butter."
"By yourself?"
"No, with my friend."
There'd been a pause between you two. She pressed the lid back into place and begun shaking it, the popcorn rattling. Then, she turned to you, like she knew something that you didn't.
"And you never once thought this friend scared the employees into putting extra butter for you back then?"
It always went back to him.
Whenever you'd go to a colleague's place and bore holes into the crooked cuts of the apple slices on a plate, you found yourself recalling Caleb's expert cuts. These ones weren't even red delicious apples.
You're a bit peeved when the food from the monthly catering service at the Association doesn't taste the same way that Caleb makes it, even though the food is the same kind and recipe.
Your next trip to Skyhaven is definitely highly anticipated. You're been exhausted and haggard for the past few days. It only amplifies as the day stretches on, grimacing when Caleb opens the door. He's surprised to see you, panting and sweaty in his white tanktop. Fresh from a workout, most likely. It makes you a bit, a tiny bit, mad.
"Pipsqueak? What's the occasion?"
"You," you hiss, releasing your hold on your suitcases. You kick off your shoes as you push your way into his place, pointing an accusing finger to his chest.
Caleb's confused. It's clear in the furrow of his brow and frantic blinking that his synapses are doing rapid fire checking of what today is, what he's said or done recently, what stores are on sale, and what snacks you need.
Despite being the one who said he himself spoiled you, he clearly has no idea how it's manifested in your life, and it pisses you off even more.
"I'm the occasion?" He squawks, confused. "It's too early for my birthday—"
"You and your stupid past self. I should have your head on a stake," you bark, slamming your fists onto his pecs, pushing him further into his own home.
He laughs a bit, still completely in the dark, but his voice gets a bit more pitchy.
He leans down, cranes his gargantuan ass down to your height. It's polite. You know this, he's done it countless times. But your gut speaks to you. You're going to throttle him.
"Huh? What did I do?"
"You piss me off!"
His face softens with concern. His hands come up, ghosting over yours. He murmurs your name—
Then you're gripping him by the neck. You get to drink in the way his eyes widen to saucers as your fingers delicately wrap around his throat, palms on either side. You don't squeeze, and instead, aggressively shake him. "Pipsqueak?"
"You spoiled me!" You shriek, voice shrill with accusation.
Frustration, the buildup from the past couple of weeks comes to full fruition in this very moment. It's only for a split second that you see realization dawn on Caleb's face before you continue yelling.
"I relied on others to get me snacks because of you, I complain over batteries because of you, now I want specific water temperatures, I can't stand pale popcorn because you demanded extra butter, I'm picky over food—"
"Hey—"
"Don't you hey me, mister!" You jut your finger up at his face, and he shuts his mouth instantly. "I'm like this, because of you!"
You don't miss the glitter of mirth in those stupidly ethereal eyes of his, and it's wholly unreal how your anger amplifies when you notice his twitching lips. He found this funny.
"You're laughing?" You whisper, low and indignant. You squeeze his throat, feel his breath pass under the skin. Adrenaline riveting and real in the low thrum of your heartbeat.
"I'm here, devastated over the effect of your stupid actions on my life, and you're laughing?"
"Devastated?" Caleb echoes. The idiot sounded delighted over this. Like he was finding a great deal of validation in your admission.
A grin quirks his lips into its signature, charming curve, and he's leaning down into you some more. One of his hands sliding over yours with a gentleness only he could emulate. Your resolve stutters, and he's quick to take advantage of that.
"Oh, please, pipsqueak." He chuckles. "That's not true and you know it."
His fingers gently slide between the gaps of yours, making room for himself and filling the emptiness. Effectively peeling them away from his throat, and doing the same to the other hand. You relent, letting your arms hang loosely at your sides.
Caleb's still smiling when he takes a step forward, crowding your space now. It doesn't register that he's cornered you until your back is flat to the closed door and you're surrounded by him and everything about him.
The very man who's fed you every granule, acquainted you with the taste of having the world at your every whim. A charged zap runs up the base of your spine when he lifts your chin.
"If you were really devastated, you'd have come here cryin' instead. You'd be on your knees, weepin' over how I've ruined you. Not yelling and screaming and accusing me," he coos, sickly sweet. His thumb rubbing below your lower lip.
"Are you done? Do you feel better after getting it all off your chest?"
His gaze feels abysmal. Two pools of an oceanic depth, spatial and intergalactic and beyond your comprehension. Hungry.
Something darker lurks there. That one look that flickers in and out of conversations whenever you're close to him, or when the topic tilts into something that you know you shouldn't be touching. Like he's satiated, but still craving more and more. You feel small under it every time.
"Even a kid knows how to manipulate their guardian into givin' them what they want."
The double meaning, one of comparing you to an immature brat, isn't lost on you. Heat crawls up your skin as your cheeks round with the scrunch of your nose. Ready to retaliate with equal venom, even if his words weren't inherently insulting.
But, before you even could, the expression on his face stops you in your tracks.
It's like looking at the colonel. Caleb cocks his head to the side, expression clinically cold. "When someone is speaking, we?"
He stares. He's waiting for a response, you realize.
You finish his sentence, pacified. "We listen."
"Good. Seems you still have the manners I taught you."
Your face heats up.
That stupidly patient smile on his lips was grating on your nerves, far more than any revelation of his ingrained presence in your every action, thought, word, and emotion.
His thumb is soon pressed flush to your lips. He isn't prying it open like he did before, instead rubbing the pad of his thumb along your lips, caressing the divot of your cupid's bow. He's playing with the glossy texture and film of your lippie, smearing it past the corner of your lips.
The first thing you want to do is push him away. Shove him, hard, and make space between the two of you so that your train of thought could return. Yet, the softness that decorates his grape-colored irises was making you hesitate. He's an annoying guy, someone who gets on your nerves, with featherlight caresses and an admiration so sincere.
Rouge stains the pad of his digit when he draws it back. He's curious, his gaze thoughtful as he examines the pigment. Then, you're watching as he lifts it to his mouth with a deliberate kiss. Lashes fluttering over his cheekbones.
When he drops his hand, the scarlet pigment is smeared over his lips like a brand.
You're burning alive. You reach up, immediately trying to wipe it from his lips. "You—"
"Weirdo? I know." Caleb catches your hand with ease, beaming with half-lidded eyes. "Buuut, you're just as weird as me for lettin' me do that, y'know."
He's making a point. You're going to gut him alive, you think to yourself. In stealing an indirect kiss from you, he's replicating every scenario you've ever bared yourself to him. How easy it is, to melt in one's earnest wonder and affection, unable to say no.
In an attempt to regain your composure, you scowl with all the feigned vitriol you could muster. "You're even weirder for condoning my every action."
He cocks his head, like he was reloading a couple memories from the past. The countless times he let you get away with things.
"It's... not that easy for me, pipsqueak."
"Yes, it is." You huff and free your hand from his grip. Settling your palms flat over his chest, fingers curling into the stretchy fabric. "Telling me no couldn't have been that hard."
"Yeah?" He teases. "You think it's that simple for me?"
"Grandma could handle me."
Caleb deadpans at your mention of her, his face relaxing into something like bemusement.
"If Gran or I took away your stuffed animal to clean it, you'd kick and scream and cry. If I denied you of your favorite food or a candy apple, you'd say you hate me."
You blink. That wasn't the response you were expecting. All of a sudden, you feel like someone's wiped your mind of everything you've ever known, and redefined your recollections of childhood. Embarrassment crawls up your face in burning streaks.
"Gran could handle you?" He repeats, shakes his head with a sad look.
There's a pained aspect to his current physiognomy, the furrow of his brow, the deepened set of his mouth. "That's because it's her. Of course, she wouldn't mind your cries. But I did."
He crouches, and for a moment, it was as if he was falling. The sunlight filtered in through the glass of the door behind your head, catching on the nutty brown strands of his hair. Cradling his head against the junction of your neck and shoulder, hiding away his face.
"I didn't want you to hate me." He admits, the words fanned over your throat. You inhale deeply, and his familiar scent invades your senses. You hope that stupid central organ wasn't too loud, or else he'd hear the beating of your pulse working double time.
Caleb's a constant in your life. He was a pillar, from youth 'til now, that never failed to offer you assistance regardless of the circumstances. You knew him to be reliable, persistent, generous. Perhaps it plays into the way he's coated your teeth in sugar, nipping at your enamel in a thick film that tastes of sweetness.
Yet seeing him like this, frustrated and amused and annoyed—it was unfounded.
"I didn't know much." The vulnerability was low yet blaring. "I just knew I didn't want you to hate me. I knew I loved seeing you happy. And if I denied you, you weren't happy."
It's too black and white. So childish and simplified. It's an easygoing description of his feelings toward you during early youth, one that could easily be swallowed up and consumed by the nasty nature of the world.
Yet, you card your fingers through his hair. Press your lips to his temple all the same, and listen to his utterances.
Your bottom lip is jutting out before you can stop yourself. And in spite of his own admissions, the uncomfortable nakedness that comes with it, you mumble a pointed, "you made me high maintenance."
"You're only figurin' that out now?" He snickers against your skin and the subsequent vibrations make you jump. "Pipsqueak, everyone's known you're high maintenance."
You protest, "that's not true."
"Yes," he says, amused. "It is."
Peeling away from your neck, Caleb's face is less grave now. Relief floods your senses and you cup his face, smoothing over the corners of his lip to wipe away the frowns. There's a weight behind you that isn't the door, his palm a welcome touch as his fingers splay over the small of your back.
His other hand resting on the side of your throat, fingers resting on your nape and thumb rubbing the ridge of your jaw. The motion is soothing, and you close your eyes to memorize its rhythm.
"Even if you're high maintenance, I'm the one who caused it. Allegedly."
You bristle and your eyes fly open, "allegedly? There's proof—"
"Ah-ah."
Caleb's brows are raised on his forehead as you pipe down, amused by how quick you were to correct your behavior.
"Much better. As I was saying."
Despite the extra firmness to his voice, his touch on you was nothing short of gentle. Like your body was carved from marble, reinforced by a fragile porcelain, he does that thing where he tilts your head with the hand on your neck. His thumb rubbing your earlobe.
But the most violating part had to be those intense, smoldering eyes that beheld you with utmost priority. How did you ever think he didn't care for you?
Caleb's tone of voice is chiding. "You're high maintenance because of me, and that makes you mine to maintain."
He's talking down to you. Treating you like one would to a child learning how to tie their shoelaces, his voice chiseled with the vines of condescension. Heartbeat speeding in your chest, distinguishing your heartbeat from your rampant thoughts became far more difficult.
The little smile that's on his lips seems manic. Far away, distant, as you slide your hands over his pecs. A shudder ripples over your skin.
"After all, it's my fault for making sure you're comfortable. It's my fault for prioritizing you above all else, as children and as adults." He starts, chillingly calm. He shakes his head to himself with a deep sigh, and tilts your head back against the door. Examining you with an unblinking, almost detached visage. Yet, his words were anything but, thick with emotion.
You breathe slow, torturous inhales and exhales, feeling Caleb's hand wrap itself around your throat. Alarms ring out in the back of your mind—loud, incessant, disturbing, yet you close your eyes and let him hold you there.
He won't hurt you. He never would, intentionally.
Quietly, like a forbidden fruit to not be consumed or heard, he mutters, "it's my fault for wantin' nothing but the best for you, because it's what you deserve. Nothing less."
Oh, you breathe out.
There's absolutely no pressure to the way he holds your neck. His palm wasn't against the column of your throat, instead, the pads of his thick digits were clasping the skin with a touch so invisible it almost felt nonexistent. When you swallow, the flexed skin presses itself up to his touch.
"Do you really want me to take it back?" Caleb asks, breaking the momentary silence and taking you out of your thoughts.
You blank out for a moment too long. "What?"
"You came over to let me know I've spoiled you beyond reversing repair, without wantin' me to change?"
Why did you come over? Why did you decide to come up to Skyhaven one day, literally days away from your regular times of visiting him? Over something like this? Literal outdated information that you've only recently discovered.
Why? You don't know, but you're rushing to speak, holding onto his top. "That's not what I—"
"It's not what you what?"
He tilts his head down toward you and every coherent thought exits your headspace instantly. God, his eyes. They're darker now. Frustration brimming in the burning fuchscia, the indigo of his irises all-consuming.
"I can stop pamperin' you starting today." He offers.
The surfacing ache in your chest is abrupt, disruptive.
"Starting today, I won't buy your favorite snacks. I won't ever pat your head again. I'll leave you to fend for yourself in every fast food line, and you can get your own stuff when we go shopping. You can even do your shopping alone. Is that what you want?"
No. No, it's not what you want, but how do you express that? An entity, so puissant and arresting, is crawling up your esophagus, scraping at the backs of your teeth, trying to pry your mouth open, and wail its truth into the minimal distance between you and Caleb. It's an ugly feeling, one stripping you down to your base needs.
Pain bleeds into his expression, his eyes only softening as a thought crosses his mind. "Are you gonna tell me you don't need me again?"
"Caleb, no," you manage.
"If not, then what's the problem? It's too late. If I've ruined you, you've destroyed me."
You destroyed him? When? You've never... When have you ever—?
Your chagrin spikes in time with your bewilderment. "I never did anything like that."
Caleb peered into your eyes. Your soul. Questioning, a bit disbelieving. Like he can't really believe your own blindness. An incredulous laugh slipping through his nose when he realizes you weren't lying.
He takes a step forward. You're fully sandwiched between him and the door now, and one of his arms come up to rest above you on the surface. "Caleb–"
"I can't go through the grocery store without thinking of what you want for dinner." He admits, the revelation so tender and tied with candor. Your words die on your tongue and dissolve.
"I can't do my laundry anymore unless it's with your brand of fabric softener, since it reminds me of you. Every time I try on a new jacket, I wonder how it would look good on you."
The information comes pouring out of him like a geyser. And his voice is full of nothing but love. You press your hands to his chest with more force, but he won't budge. Your ears are scalding and you're avoiding his gaze now, his face.
"You dedicated a journal to me. You came to every basketball game." Caleb laughs, breathless. A little in awe of you, so full of adoration. "You always visited Skyhaven when I moved out. You pretended to be my girlfriend. You didn't want me to get a girlfriend. You kissed me at my graduation."
He stutters over himself at the end, sighing deeply and it's making your stomach do flips. "God, you kissed me."
Really? You're burning. Did he have to bring that up?
He's pulling you out of your thoughts yet again, using his hold on your yielding neck to find your gaze once more. You could crumble into ashes right now. In fact, you hoped the floor underneath you would just swallow you whole and leave nothing behind for Caleb to dissect.
"You're think you're spoiled, pipsqueak?" Another laugh, and it's mixed with raspy agony and disbelief, shining in his stare. "I'm rotten."
In Caleb's home, you never really heard much commotion. Simply the low hum of the television in the background, the living room a few paces away. Yet, your heartbeat was the soundtrack to his life, and he's made it his favorite ringtone.
You could feel his own racing heart under your palm. He looks defeated now, conflicted. Oh, Caleb.
"You never wanted me to take it back." He says it to himself. Like he's trying to get himself to believe it.
"You just wanted reassurance that I'd never leave you, no matter how coddled you are."
The heart that's thudding rapidly against your ribcage was so fickle, so naïve. It might jump out of your throat at this rate—God, Caleb could probably feel your pulse like this.
Your mind's racing. There's only one way you could resolve this rift formed from these series of revelations and confessions. You weren't going to lose him again. He has no right to leave after this.
"You're so quiet now. Don't tell me you're thinkin' of runnin' away, pipsqueak." His voice is lighter, more in jest now. The first sign of distance, denial.
You clasp his wrist, and whisper, "I'll take responsibility."
"What?"
"I'll take responsibility. For ruining you. In exchange, take responsibility for me too." You declare, louder. You sound more sure.
He's blinking at you now. Then, his brows furrow and a bewildered laugh leaves him. Before he could reply, you push forward, not allowing him any time to recover.
"I'm in your hands now, aren't I? You said so yourself. You did this to me. I did this to you. I'm yours to deal with."
You wind your arms around his neck, hearing how his breaths stutter and feeling his hand leave your throat. You're on your tippy toes, pulling him down so you could settle back against the door, feeling his grip settle over your waist. It's a lovely sensation. One so right. It cements your resolve.
"The only ones who can handle us are each other. Nobody else."
You don't know what you're saying anymore.
But you know you like the rising determination, you like whatever this is. You like the hope that swims in his gaze. The fear that's within them, terrified of this being one of your pranks. It wasn't; you'll prove it to hom.
"You can't make all these promises and leave me alone," You speak in a hushed tone, finality thick in the waver of your voice. You're leaning in before you can stop yourself and whispering, "I won't let you."
You can't help but feel like whatever game you two are playing now, you've lost. He's won yet again. Yet it doesn't quite feel like a loss this time around, not when Caleb's face is smoothing out into one of relief. One of contentment as he closes the distance.
The breath that fans over your mouth is hot and his voice is full of yearning, "I never planned on it."

Ding. Ding.
Mihya ♡: Are you dead?
Mihya ♡: you better be dead because if you're ghosting me i swear
Not two minutes after your phone starts ringing. You groan turning around to grab your phone. The sudden brightness of the phone hurting your eyes. Squinting you try to read the name of the caller and quickly swipe your finger to take the call.
"Heeeey..." you purr, voice a bit groggy.
"He- were you sleeping?" Michael's voice comes through the speakers, he sounds irritated. Nothing unusual.
"Yeah, what's up?" you sit up a bit, rubbing your eyes and yawning at the same time.
"I was texting you and you never responded, thought you might have dropped dead." he hissed through the speakers, obviously he didn't like your nonchalant attitude towards this very important matter.
"Sorry, love, I got my period and I just kind of shut down." you soften your voice, knowing how much Kaiser doesn't like being ignored you try to make him see it was an accident.
"Oh.. uhh I didn't know" his voice immediately softens and he sounds a bit lost.
You hum, as you put him on speaker to check his messages.
"I can come over and we can watch something instead." he said carefully. You two had been dating for a little over a month so it's his first time dealing with you on your period.
"That would be great yeah." you say, a smile slowly creeping up on your face.
"Okay, yeah.. do you need anything? I- i don't know what to bring..." he sounds so lost it's almost adorable.
"Just the usual and grab some icecream as well yeah? I have everything else I need, well except my whiny, clingy boyfriend, so just get your ass over." you hear him groan in protest and you giggle.
"I expect cuddles as compensation for being ignored." he whines out waiting for your reply.
"I'll cuddle you all night long." you giggle and hear him starting his car.
"Yeah? good. I'll see you soon." you giggle and hang up. He can be so handful sometimes, but he's adorable when he wants to be.

NOWHERE GIRL
PART THIRTEEN
kang sae-byeok x fem!reader
synopsis: in a weird turn of events, sae-byeok tries to comfort those around her.
wc. 2.1k
warnings: angst followed by comfort
(nowhere girl masterlist)
Sae-byeok feels delirious. After everyone in the apartment fell asleep, only she remained awake trying to recollect the memories the events that occurred from only a couple hours ago. But they came in fragments. She mostly recalls seeing red when you and her went to Daejeon. She is aware how rigid her words can shift when she is angry or stressed and she regrets yelling at you. This is something she can’t find the pride to admit but, you’re the reason Ji-yeong was found. Not her.
She is losing her way of life. Her currently lifestyle is making her go soft and she’s still nowhere near her monetary goal to rescue her mom. And because Ji-yeong hasn’t been at work for three days now, it’s up to her to cough up a little extra money on the streets in order to pay rent next week. The money you gave her ran out, so instead of going to sleep she waits until everyone else is, throws on her jacket and heads out the door.
This time Sae-byeok made sure to pickpocket out of town.
By the time she arrives back to her apartment it was already the afternoon meaning she spent her entire morning pickpocketing. Her foot is aching and the only thing she had for lunch was a bulgogi onigiri she bought at the convenience store. She was ready to collapse in bed but she had responsibilities to take care of.
The lights in the apartment where still shut off and all the curtains are shut with little light escaping though them. You were long gone by the time she arrived back with her clothes and blanket neatly folded on the couch. You sent her a message when you departed at seven in the morning so she asked that you let her know when you made it home safe. But have yet to reply, it’s starting to concern her now.
Cheol was also sound asleep on his side of the bed, to her surprise. He also tends to wake up early like Sae-byeok, but perhaps he didn’t get a restful sleep last night because she wasn’t here.
She quietly counts the crumpled up balls of money and coins she was able to collect and stuffed majority of the money inside her drawer.
Her next stop is Ji-yeong’s room.
“How long have you been awake?” Sae-byeok asks after Ji-yeong unlocked her bedroom door and let her in. Her roommate jumps back into bed as she sits on the edge.
“I think like three hours ago but I lost track.” she mumbles, her tone more melancholic than usual.
She notices how puffy and lifeless her eyes are, clearly she was crying all night. Sae-byeok sighs, she wishes she could know the words to use to make Ji-yeong feel better. But maybe words aren’t enough in her case.
“So, what happened with your dad?” she asks cautiously and observes her facial expression to check if there’s a flicker of change in them.
Ji-yeong lets out an exasperated sigh and struggles to speak momentarily. “At first, he refused to see me so I had to wait for an hour until he finally changed his mind. Then he kept apologizing and apologizing and was like ‘I ask God for forgiveness everyday’ but when I told him it was all bullshit he went…I saw the dark look in his eyes again.” she looks at Sae-byeok in the eyes. “It was the same look he had when he killed mom. I had chills up my spine seeing him like that I seriously thought I was next.”
Sae-byeok felt a pang in her chest. A part of her feels like she pushed Ji-yeong into this mess.
“What’s with that look?” Ji-yeong asks. She doesn’t respond. “Don’t feel bad for telling me to visit him. I actually feel better—less guilty about his current state. I still need time I think.”
“Time to think?”
“Yeah, to process everything. But unfortunately, I only have today to do that because I picked up a twelve hour shift at work to make up for the days I missed.”
“Is that your way of telling me to get out of your room?”
Ji-yeong reaches to pat her back. “Look at you being emotionally intelligent!”
With a roll of her eyes she gets off the mattress and towards the door.
“Wait before you go,” Ji-yeong speaks up. “have you seen ‘her’ yet?” she wriggles her eyebrows when Sae-byeok turns around.
“What’s with that face and why did you say her like that?” Sae-byeok scoffs, feeling defensive suddenly.
“I take back my emotionally intelligent comment then.” she grumbles, shaking her head. “I saw her get ready this morning so I was wondering if you dropped her off or something.”
“No, I didn’t drop her off. I left before any of you woke up.” Sae-byeok says flatly and takes a hold of the door knob. She doesn’t like where this conversation is taking.
“She seemed off though.” she points out when Sae-byeok opens the door.
“Did she? Didn’t notice.”
When Sae-byeok is fully out the door it didn’t prevent her from hearing Ji-yeong say, “I can see right through you, Kang Sae-byeok!”
⊹ ✿・・───・・✦・・───・・✿
Later in the day, once Cheol woke up and had lunch, Sae-byeok casually mentioned the idea of seeing you. This elated the boy, who asked if it was possible to drop by your place as early as today. And because you haven’t been replying to Sae-byeok’s text, she agreed.
So, this lead the Kang siblings to stand outside your apartment door.
When you open it, Sae-byeok did notice you seem off. Your eyes were slightly swollen and tired almost like Ji-yeong’s crying ones. Maybe she came at a bad time—or bad day.
“Hi. Did something happen?” you softly, adverting your gaze down to Cheol.
“Cheol, wanted to see you.” she says plainly. “And you weren’t replying to my texts.”
“Hi, Noona.” Cheol greets you bashfully.
Sae-byeok can readily tell that you were forcing your face muscles to smile at Cheol. You bend down your knees to meet at his level.“Hey! I’m glad you wanted to stop by to see me I have some things for you.”
“Seriously?” he blinks.
You nod and tell them to enter the apartment before rushing up the stairs. Minutes later, you come back with a wooden crate full of supplies and plop it down in front of the boy.
Cheol sends you a skeptical glance. You encourage him to look inside the basket. There were full marker sets, graphite pencils of different grades, paint brushes with dried up paint, acrylic paint, and small empty canvases. Maybe there was more in the basket he missed.
“Is this all for me?” he mutters in disbelief.
“Of course.”
“Thank you, Noona.” he says, contemplating whether to reach over to embrace you but held back the urge in fear. You could sense his hesitation so you outstretch your arms and engulf him in a hug.
When you still embrace him, you look up at Sae-byeok, a flicker of sadness was in your eyes. She’s sure of it. She has a hard time grasping your kindness and selflessness during rough times like this. Your gesture made her chest get this achy feeling again.
After the hug, you encourage him to practice on your old sketchpad that had only two of your past drawings on them from high school.
Once he gets busy unloading everything you got him on the floor, you pull Sae-byeok aside. “I’m sorry I didn’t reply that is a bad move on my end knowing what we went through last night. But I also have something for you and Ji-yeong too by the way.”
“What?”
Before she could process it, you usher her up the stairs to your small bed space. Due to the space being so small she had to duck her head and sit on the mattress, watching you rummage through your piles of knickknacks you haven’t yet organized.
You plop down next to her. Right next to her. Sae-byeok wasn’t used to feeling someone’s leg brush up right against hers. You uncurl your fingers to reveal a black woven rope bracelet on your palm and reach your hand out to her.
Sae-byeok bites the inside of her cheek. She doesn’t know if she can handle so much of your tender hearted acts when she doesn’t think she deserves even an ounce of it. However, it would be cruel to turn down this gesture so she reaches to take it.
“And can you give this to, Ji-yeong?” you ask and pull out a thin necklace with a small firefly pendant. Sae-byeok sighs, but nods and takes that too.
“Thank you.” Sae-byeok says, lowly.
“I just got one favor to ask.” you say with rapid fire speed, fiddling with the hem of your shirt anxiously. “Can I paint you for my last project?”
Sae-byeok whips her head to look at you. She forgot the lack of personal space there was in between you two. “What?”
“Can…I paint you—“
“I heard you. But why me?” she asks, frowning.
“You have a unique face.” you answer simply but her face morphs into bewilderment.
“Excuse me?”
“Your eyes are sharp and cool but your face shape is soft and delicate. You have great features for a standout portrait.” you explain with ease. Sae-byeok’s lip part slightly. No one ever talks about her looks, especially not so carefully thought out. “It’s the type of unique face that’s almost—hm…mythical.”
She scoffs at the sheer disbelief she’s feeling. “You’re just bluffing.”
“There’s no reason for me to do that. I had other people as options but you stood out the most.” you say, genuinely. “So, do I have permission?”
Sae-byeok blinks at you. The idea of you having to stare at her face and think about her features for hours is an unfathomable thought. But you appear to be dead set on this decision, you didn’t laugh or mock her to convince her.
“Okay.”
She stares down at the bracelet and fiddles with it, her eyes soften up.
Sae-byeok has a hard time understanding that there is beauty in this world. Growing up in the North only taught her how to fear, and once her managed to flee South she had to became a shell of a person. Cheol, for a long time, was her only light in this new isolated world. She remembers briefly being like her little brother when she was his age, timid and quiet but showed her love. But as the people in her life either died or failed to escape the North, she forgot what it was like to feel and give love.
She never had time to figure out who she was as a person. To her, it was a waste of time. It was better to guard herself from the outside world that was so cruel and unusual.
“Ji-yeong said you looked off this morning.” Sae-byeok says out of the blue, feeling courageous to let her guard down ever so slightly.
“Oh.” is all you said to her surprise.
With another pang of courage hitting her system, she tilts her head to look at you.
You’ve proved Sae-byeok wrong time and time again. She used to be so sure you weren’t this selfless person you presented yourself to be when you came to live in their apartment back in March. But she’s ashamed to admit that she was wrong about your character. Very wrong.
“You did a lot for me last night. I won’t forget it.” she says after more and more momentary silence.
“It’s not—“
“Quit being so selfless for once.” she says in annoyance. She straightens up her posture and exhales trying to gather her words. “Can—Can you look at me?”
Hesitantly, you do as she says. Your face screams of worry and fear.
“What’s wrong?” Sae-byeok barely manages to say while looking into your eyes. “Tell me.”
She feels vulnerable under your tender gaze, noticing that you were studying her facial features carefully. It takes everything in her not to break away.
“I feel sad.” you say, shakily. “I still can’t believe my parents let me go so easily...” your chest visibly heaving. Before your lips start trembling you glance away.
Sae-byeok gulps. Before her brain could start figuring out what to do next she hears Cheol’s footsteps. You both instinctively scoot farther away from each other and compose yourselves.
“Is everything okay?” you ask the boy when he appears from the top of the stairs. Sae-byeok heard the glumness you tried terribly to mask.
“I don’t know how to work this, Noona.” he pouts, holding out a set of watercolor paint.
“Here, I will show you.” you say and hurry to get off of your bed to lead Cheol back downstairs. “This is watercolor paint. It’s dried up right now because you need to activate it with water.”
When Sae-byeok knows you’ve made your way to the kitchen she lets out a set of groans and palms her face. She doesn’t know why she is so bad at this. Comforting—a complete mystery to her.

From https://www.sverigesradio.se/avsnitt/hooja-kaarija-om-tanken-pa-att-tavla-i-eurovision
Translation / Transcript under the cut. This interview was really nice, I highly suggest you give it a listen even if you don't speak Swedish!
Hooja and Käärijä about the thought of competing in Eurovision
Interviewer (Carolina): What an exciting collaboration! Hooja together with Käärijä. [In English] I didn't see this one coming, I can tell you that. And I will start in Swedish, with you, Hooja. [In Swedish] How in the world did this end up happening?
Hooja: We're not as different as you could think. We've been saying that both of us are crazy, we definitely saw that in the studio when we met, because we had so unbelievably much fun when writing this song. So we… we really fit well together, both personalities and musically. Writing this song was a LOT of fun.
Carolina: Yeah, because… I mean… but HOW did you meet from the start so that this ended up happening?
Mårdis: At first we had been tittle-tattling in our camp about how it would be fun, because we see a lot of similarities in each other despite also being so dissimilar. And then they apparently had also been talking in THEIR camp as well, so it sort of came up in a roundabout way AGAIN that "he wants to make something with you". So we decided that we'll go down and do this, and we met up, and we had fun, and there was no pressure, no idea was bad, we were there for two days and just laughed. And that's what happens when you have fun, too, you make music from that, and that's how we got San Francisco Boy, our lovely child that we have together. [In English, to K] San Francisco Boy is our child that we have together.
Käärijä: Yes!
Carolina: A love child.
Käärijä: YES!! (Laughter)
Carolina: So, Käärijä, I must ask you, have you seen them without their masks?
Käärijä: Maybe I see more than only face…
Carolina: In the sauna..?
Käärijä: Maybe… (Even more laughter and something unintelligible about a mask)
Carolina: But it's so nice to see, because they just said, in Swedish, that when they were in the studio, they laughed so much. Was it the same for you?
Käärijä: Yes, yes. And, uh, I remember, first time, because you start to make like, the beats, and you played that song in Finland, to me, and I'm "uh, ok, this is… this is very funny and crazy and I feel good" when the boys played the song. And uh, then we start to try and do something and we get the song San Francisco Boy. And, uh… very, very good times and we get a lot of fun.
Carolina: [In Swedish] And the funny part is, San Francisco Boy, is in Swedish and English, but I'm thinking this - We have northern Sweden, we have Finland, and we end up with San Francisco Boy. (Laughter) Is there any hidden meaning with this?
Hooja: Why not? [In English] Why not? (Laughter) [In Swedish] We don't like doing the most obvious thing.
Carolina: No, no.
Hooja: No.
Carolina: But there is no hidden meaning in the song?
Hooja: No, I don't really think there is. What do you think? (To K and Mårdis)
Mårdis: If there's a message in the song, this is what we said when we started with the song - Disco Boy, San Francisco Boy, whatever you want to be, if you want to be Orange Boy or Finland Boy then you're allowed to be that. That was a thing that we really agree upon, that… It sounds cliche, you know, "you can be who you want to be", but we really think that. For real. And it's important to us. And that we could put that into a funny song, that just sort of happened, and it's nice.
Carolina: And now you're here at Melodifestivalen, and get a taste of… wait, get a feeling of what it's like being here. Have you considered Hooja in Melodifestivalen?
Hooja: Well… Never say never, we've gotten the question a few times and we've said no then, but you never know what the future holds! You don't want to say too much, you need to.. you need to watch your words.
Carolina: [In English] Käärijä help me here, I'm trying persuade them to do the Swedish Melodifestivalen.
Käärijä: I think the boys have to make öööh, to use what they want to do. Maybe… Maybe some day. For me, why I tried to go to Eurovision in 2023, we made the song Cha Cha Cha, and it's like the first demo, and I'm thinking, "okay, this is more than just only song, we can do something bigger" and one way how we can do something bigger, um, we can go to Eurovision, and uh, I watching a lot of Eurovision when I was young.
Mårdis: And if we want to go to Eurovision one day, we are very happy to have a Eurovision veteran with us, who can guide us through life.
Käärijä: Yes, I can be your manager. (Laughter)
Carolina: That is a brilliant idea! [In Swedish] We have this on tape now. [In English] We have it on record here.
Käärijä: Yes, yes!
Carolina: Now we come..
Käärijä: We have a plan, boys! Yes, let's go to studio. (Laughter)
Carolina: I will call the EBU immediately and say "Hi, I've got three guys who will SHAKE the Eurovision around". (Laughter) But I must also ask you, Käärijä, coming second after Loreen but winning the public vote… Are you still mad? Are people in Finland still mad at Sweden? [Bees note: The interviewer's tone of voice here is very genuine and almost… apologetic?]
Käärijä: I think that people in Finland, they are mad, but not really… I'm not. Of course I remember time after final where they give the points and I saw that Loreen get more points than me, I going to cry on toilet, but… (giggles) but yes, I'm ok and Loreen is amazing artist and person, human, I love Loreen. And after final, Loreen sent me the message to "Käärijä, if you need something"
Hooja, breaking in: Except the price… (Laughter)
Käärijä: If you need money or something… (Laughter)
Mårdis: If you want to look at the price… (Laughter)
Käärijä: But yeah, good person and I… I'm not care any more, I'm ok (giggling)
Carolina: To wrap it up then, a final question I'm very curious about, will you proceed doing this (stumbles over words) [In Swedish] I'll just do it in Swedish - will the collaboration continue? [In English] Will you continue this collaboration?
Hooja: You never know! No but, uh, you do never know.
Mårdis: I think the thing with us, we only do things that are fun for us, it's the only thing we care about, that's what music is for us. If it's fun, we're going to do it, and we've had a lot of fun with this too, so I'm ending it just like Hooja, you never know! (Laughter)
Carolina: [In English] Ok, two diplomatic answers, that they had fun, Käärijä, the Finnish vote - this sounds like a dating show! - do you want to continue dating these boys?
Käärijä: You don't know yet! But I think, boys, you can't run away anymore, when you do work with Käärijä you stay with Käärijä. (Laughter) Oh yes, yes, yes (Laughter) But uh, yeah, I hope we do other songs and more songs, and uh, let's see!
Hooja: Yeah!
Carolina: Thank you very much! [In Swedish] Thank you so much, I'm crossing my fingers we get more from your collab in the future! (Collective "woo-hoo!")

Birthday boy
Harry sighed as he sank into the backseat of the car, staring out at the dark city streets passing by. His heart felt heavier than it should on his birthday. He’d woken up hopeful, checking his phone first thing, only to find a single message from you.
“Happy birthday, my love💞.”
That was it. No call. No voice message. And you hadn’t responded to any of his texts since.
The lads knew something was wrong. He hadn’t been himself all day - quieter, less engaged, going through the motions during their show but not fully there. So when they tried to convince him to join them at a bar for a few drinks to celebrate, he barely put up a fight before shaking his head.
“I just wanna head back to the hotel,” he muttered.
“Mate, come on,” Louis pressed. “It’s your birthday.”
“Yeah, Haz, a couple drinks, a bit of fun - it’ll cheer you up,” Niall added, his voice laced with concern.
Harry just sighed, shaking his head again. “I’m tired, lads. Just wanna sleep.”
The four of them exchanged looks before Liam nodded in understanding. “Alright. But if you need anything, just call, yeah?”
Harry forced a small smile as they each gave him a hug before climbing into their car. He watched them drive off before getting into his own.
By the time he reached the hotel, exhaustion weighed him down, but it wasn’t the physical kind. Normally, he’d stop to greet fans, sign autographs, maybe chat with the hotel staff - but tonight, he just kept his head down, pushing through the lobby without a word. He just wanted to crawl into bed and forget how lonely today felt.
But when he pushed open the door to his suite, he froze.
There, sitting on his bed, was you.
And you weren’t just there - you were wearing his favorite black lace lingerie, smirking at him like you knew exactly what you were doing to him.
His breath hitched, his brain struggling to catch up, but instead of noticing what you were wearing, all he saw was you. He let out a breathless, disbelieving laugh before rushing forward, engulfing you in his arms.
“Oh my God,” he whispered against your hair, holding you so tight it was like he feared you’d disappear. “I missed you so much.”
You giggled as he peppered kisses across your face, your hands tangling into his curls as he murmured “Missed you, missed you, missed you,” between each kiss. It wasn’t until his lips finally reached yours that his hands started to wander - and that’s when he finally realized what you were wearing.
His eyes darkened as he pulled back, scanning you from head to toe. “Oh,” he breathed, his voice dropping.
You smirked. “Surprise.”
That night, Harry got the best birthday gift he could’ve ever asked for.
Later, as you lay tangled in the sheets, your bodies still warm from your night together, you reached over to grab a small wrapped box from the nightstand.
Harry blinked at it in confusion. “You got me something?”
You rolled your eyes with a grin. “Of course I did.”
“I thought you were my present,” he teased, pulling you closer.
You laughed, nudging the box toward him. “Just open it.”
Harry unwrapped it carefully, lifting the lid to find a sleek, gorgeous ring nestled inside. His lips parted in surprise as he picked it up, sliding it onto his finger without hesitation. It fit perfectly.
He stared at it for a long moment before looking back at you, his green eyes shining. “I love it.”
“I hoped you would.”
He kissed you again, softer this time, filled with so much love that it made your heart ache. You spent the rest of the night curled up together, watching movies, eating snacks, and stealing lazy kisses until sleep finally took you both.
The next morning, Harry woke with a start.
The bed beside him was cold.
For a moment, panic gripped his chest - had it all been a dream? Had he imagined you being here because he missed you so much?
But then the bathroom door opened, and there you were, a towel wrapped around your body, your wet hair dripping onto your shoulders.
“Morning, birthday boy,” you murmured, walking over to press a soft kiss to his lips.
Harry exhaled in relief, his arms immediately wrapping around your waist to pull you onto the bed. “You’re really here,” he mumbled against your skin.
You chuckled, carding your fingers through his curls. “Of course I am.”
And when you handed him a tray of breakfast you’d ordered earlier, he felt like the luckiest man alive.
Later that morning, you met the boys in the hotel lobby.
You were immediately met with warm hugs and cheek kisses, especially from Niall, who grinned ear to ear when he saw you.
“About time you showed up,” he teased.
You laughed. “Had to make a dramatic entrance, you know?”
Harry just held you close, his fingers absentmindedly playing with the ring on his hand. The six of you spent the day wandering through the city until you stumbled upon a gorgeous beach.
As the others ran to the water, splashing and laughing, you and Harry sat in the sand, watching them.
You took a deep breath before turning to him. “I’m staying for the rest of the tour.”
Harry’s head snapped toward you. “Wait, what?”
You nodded, smiling softly. “I figured…it doesn’t matter where I am, as long as I’m with you.”
His eyes searched yours, almost as if he didn’t believe it. “But… you don’t like traveling.”
“I don’t,” you admitted. “But I love you more than i hate traveling.”
Harry’s face broke into the biggest, brightest smile before he tackled you into the sand, kissing you breathless.
Before either of you could say anything else, a sudden splash of cold water hit Harry from behind.
He gasped loudly, whipping his head around to find Niall running back to the water, cackling loudly.
“Oh, you little-“ Harry didn’t finish his sentence before springing to his feet and sprinting toward the water.
You laughed as he ran straight into the waves, fully clothed, tackling Niall as they splashed and dunked each other under. The playful fight lasted a few minutes before Harry, still grinning, waded out of the water, his clothes dripping wet.
Then his eyes landed on you.
Before you could react, he lunged forward, scooping you up into his arms.
“Harry, no!” You shrieked, squirming in his hold. “Put me down!”
He only laughed, carrying you effortlessly toward the water.
“Harry, I swear to fucking- don’t you dare!”
But he did.
With one last smirk, he launched both of you into the water, submerging you completely. You came up spluttering, pushing your wet hair out of your face.
“You absolute-“
Before you could finish your sentence, Harry cut you off with a kiss, his arms wrapping around you, pressing you close despite the cold water.
And in that moment, soaked to the bone, standing in the ocean with him, you had never felt happier.

You flip through the menu for the fifth time trying to figure out what to eat. Hyunjin and Wonseok happily chat along in their own little world about some art movement—you lost the plot of their conversation ages ago when they started about a specific type of paint and technique that you’re not even going to try to pronounce. Changbin sits across from you, absent-mindedly fiddling with his menu and nodding to the ongoing conversation.
“Are we boring you so much that you’re just going through the menu? Again?” Wonseok asks suddenly.
“I don’t know what to eat,” You grumble quietly.
Wonseok reaches over and turns a few pages in your menu. When he finds the page he's looking for he traces the page with his finger until he lands on one of the menu items. "They have fish and chips right here."
"Yeah, but I didn't think you'd take us to an actual restaurant. I can't order fish and chips while the three of you order...whatever you're going to order. It's like if I went to a restaurant back home and just ordered tteok-bokki...or if we were in the States and I got chicken tenders and fries." You gently push Wonseok's hand away from you and roll your eyes.
Wonseok pulls back his hand and brings it to his temples, almost as if he's starting to get a headache. "This is probably the only time I'm going to get to treat professional idols to a meal, I'm not just going to give them street food. Just order what you really want to eat because you're not going to be able to order fish and chips for dinner at the place we're going to. I don't want to hear you complain about not eating what you wanted for the rest of my life."
You huff out a 'fine' as you close your menu and set it to the side. Your eyes land on Changbin who is quietly scribbling something on a piece of paper that seems to have materialized. You quietly shake your head and turn your attention to Hyunjin who is looking between you and Wonseok, thinking hard about something.
"You know, Wonnie, Hyunjin is an amazing artist." You pull up your broken arm from resting on your lap. "He's the one who drew all over my cast. He posts some of his stuff on his Instagram. He's probably even carrying around his sketchbook in that tote bag of his..."
"Ah, noona..." Hyunjin's voice trails off as he scratches the back of his neck. You can't see his ears under his hat but you can almost imagine how red they're getting.
Wonseok takes your broken arm and carefully examines the doodles and drawings on your cast. Most of them are flowers and plants. Occasionally, there are little characters like the BbokAri he drew next to Felix's message and the puppy next to Seungmin's. There's hardly any room left for anyone else to write anything. Before you forbade any of the members from hanging out with you without someone else there, Hyunjin would find his way to you when he was bored and draw on your arm.
"Wow, these are amazing, Hyunjin! Do you mind if I look at your sketchbook?"
Your arm is returned to you as Wonseok and Hyunjin get wrapped up in yet another art-filled conversation. Changbin is still focused on his piece of paper, scribbling away. Part of you wishes you could pull out the small tablet you brought with you so you could work on editing photos on the ride to the gallery. But you know that'll only cause Wonseok to scold you for working when you're not supposed to. If you could offer more thought to Wonseok and Hyunjin's conversation that isn't just regurgitated garbage from your first-year introduction to art history course that you took back in university, then you could easily join in their conversation.
Deciding to bite the bullet, you sit up a bit straighter in your seat and rest your chin in your good hand. "What are you so focused on writing there Changbin?"
There's a moment of silence between the two of you. He pauses writing but you're not sure if he heard you or is thinking of what to write.
"Lyrics," He mumbles so softly that you almost miss it amongst the noise that is Wonseok and Hyunjin chattering loudly beside you.
"Did you get an idea just now?" You perk up in your seat a bit. "Can...can I see? I won't write about it. It's all off the record."
Changbin's head stays low, focusing on writing his lyrics. It's only now that you're reminded of his inability to focus on more than one thing at a time. The fact that he answered you earlier is strange and probably the most he can do.
You watch him silently as he works. You take note of all of the little things you see. Like the way his brows twitch as he tries not to furrow then while he scribbles something out. Or how the fingers on his nondominant hand dance on the table while his head subtly bops along to a rhythm only known to him. Whether he's simultaneously creating a beat in his head while he works or he's remembering a song that one of the other members of 3racha made is another unknown factor that you wish you knew the answer to. You notice the way he mouths out the words he's writing to himself and how quickly he presses his lips together and shakes his head when it appears to not flow correctly. You can only imagine that this is what it was like watching Michelangelo paint the Sistine Chapel; hypotonic.
You only break out of your trance when your server comes to the table and takes your order, something that neither you nor Changbin noticed until Wonseok and Hyunjin told you. And that's when Changbin finally looked up and caught you staring at him, forcing you to look away as heat rose to your face. Wonseok took advantage of the situation and ordered your food for you before you could change your mind.
After lunch, the four of you decided to walk around London for a bit. When you were working with Han and Seungmin yesterday, you made sure to avoid the more populated and obvious tourist areas, only capturing notable landmarks in the distant background. With more freedom to explore, you all head to the more touristy areas so Hyunjin and Changbin can blend in more seamlessly.
As you walk along the crowded streets, the earlier pain you felt inside the art galley quickly comes back. You're paying less attention to the conversation between Wonseok and Hyunjin and more to your surroundings. Despite the cool day, you feel suffocatingly hot. Almost like something is sucking all of the air out of your lungs.
"...Y/n!"
You snap out of whatever daze you're in at the sound of Wonseok's worried voice. You glance up to meet three concerned faces watching you carefully.
"Sorry, what were you saying?" Your voice is thick is unsteady as you're unable to meet any of their eyes.
"Are you okay? You're walking slowly. I thought we lost you in the crowd for a moment there."
You swallow hard as you try to settle your rapidly beating heart. "I think I ate too much earlier. My stomach hurts."
"You look kind of pale, noona," Hyunjin chimes in. "Maybe we should head back to the hotel?"
You wave Hyunjin off quickly. "N-no, it's okay. I just need a moment."
"I'll go get you some water." Wonseok's voice softens with a gentle tone as he looks around for a shop.
Hyunjin places one hand on Wonseok's shoulder, stopping him from trying to look through the crowd. He pulls his bucket hat off with his other hand, gaining a clear view of the area. "We've been here a few times. I think I know where there's a shop nearby. I'll help you find it, hyung."
"Okay, thank you. Changbin, are you okay watching Y/n?" Wonseok asks the younger man.
Too focused on the unsettling feeling growing through your body, you don't notice that Changbin's already watching you. He's been silently keeping an eye on you since you started to fall behind on your walk. Had Wonseok waited a second longer to notice you, Changbin would have said something to bring their attention to you.
"I got her," He says simply.
With that, Hyunjin tosses something at Changbin and leads Wonseok forward through the crowd. Changbin quietly pulls you off to the side away from the crowd, under the shade of a tree. You mumble out what you hope is a 'thank you,' and focus on Changbin's shoes. They're white sneakers a blue stripe going through them. Subconsciously, you start to count the small holes near the end of the shoe while you place your hand on your chest. You feel your heart beating rather quickly like it's beating a little too hard and might give out at any moment. You apply as much pressure with your hand and take deep, unsteady breaths as you try to calm your heart.
You feel something cover your head, partly obstructing your vision and muffling the outside noise. You look back up at Changbin who is now adjusting Hyunjin's bucket hat that he put on your head.
"Professional idol secret," His words come slowly as he continues to fix the rim around the hat. "A lot of us don't do well in crowds so we wear bucket hats to block out the noise and the view a bit. Fans think we wear them to hide our hair for comebacks, but most of the time it's to protect our sanity."
You swallow dryly, unable to wet your suddenly parched throat. "I go to concerts and fan signs for a living. I do well in crowds."
Changbin crouches down so you can see him under the protection of the bucket hat, a tender smile warms his whole face. It's the first time you've seen him smile since the gallery. "In the past, yeah, but...you have the same expression on your face that you've been getting when we're at the airport lately. You kind of look like Hannie when he's having an anxiety attack."
"I don't have anxiety attacks," You're not sure if you're telling Changbin or reassuring yourself. You can't remember a single moment in your life where you've had an anxiety attack. So why would you start now?
"Okay," Changbin nods before standing up straight again, your view of him is once again obstructed by the hat. He gently takes your hand off of your chest and places it on his own. "At the very least, match my breathing. You sound like you just ran a marathon and I can't help you if you pass out. I don't know cpr."
The two of you stand there for a moment. Changbin's hand is firmly on yours as he keeps it on his chest. You have no choice but to match his breathing by following the steady rising and falling of his chest. You can feel the subtle, yet rapid thuds of his heart beating in his chest despite how calm he is.
Slowly, but surely, your own breathing falls into its own steady rhythm and the strange feeling in your body dissipates. You're not exactly sure how long the two of you stand like that, but eventually you drop your hand from his chest and Changbin let's you.
"Better?"
You slowly nod your head. Most of your discomfort is gone, but you still feel jittery. Almost as if you injected straight caffeine into your bloodstream. "Yeah, I just need to sit down."
Changbin doesn't ask further questions and instead leads you to the small grassy area near the tree and urges you to sit. He joins you on the grass, falling back into silence. Now that you're relatively back to normal, you can't help but avoid looking at Changbin. You're more thankful for the hat now that it can help you avoid his gaze.
The two of you sit there in silence for a few more minutes before Wonseok and Hyunjin find you. Hyunjin is about to question why you're wearing his hat before Changbin stands up and pulls Hyunjin to the side for a moment to talk to him.
Wonseok takes one of the empty spots beside you and rummages through the plastic bag he brought back with you. He pulls out a water bottle and a small metal tin and hands them to you. "I watched a TikTok ages ago and a doctor on there said that mint is supposed to be good for an upset stomach."
"Thank you," You smile tiredly at Wonseok.
Hyunjin and Changbin make their way back to you. Hyunjin takes the other open spot next to you while Changbin sits on the other side of him. They're quiet for a moment while you continue to drink your water and eat the mints that Wonseok bought. Wonseok passes out the other water bottles from his bag to Hyunjin and Changbin.
Surprisingly, Changbin breaks the silence first, asking if the store that Wonseok and Hyunjin went to was crowded. Then the conversation shifted to what everyone planned to do later. Wonseok tells them about your now tentative dinner plans, which leads to an argument. You change the subject to see what the newlywed couple of the group had planned. The conversation shifts again, this time to souvenirs that all of you want to get. Which of course leads to another teasing argument that ends with Wonseok trying to make you spill water on yourself.
"You two are such a cute couple. How long hav--"
You choke on your water as Hyunjin's words catch you off guard and trickle down the wrong pipe. Wonseok has his own visceral reaction, one that you don't see but you can hear the sound of him gagging at the question. Still, Wonseok slaps your back to help you get the water out.
"We--are not--dating." You choke out as you try to regain your composure.
"Y/n is like my little sister," Wonseok adds as he drops his hand back to his side.
Both Hyunjin and Changbin have confused expressions as they watch the two of you. Hyunjin opens and closes his mouth like a fish as he lets out confused babbles. "Sorry, I just thought...you two are...when..."
"Wonseok hyung is older than you but you two talk casually. Plus you're so close." Changbin says finally. Hyunjin shuts his mouth and nods quickly, agreeing with Changbin's reasoning.
"That's because Wonnie is a pathological liar--ouch!" You rub the spot on your leg where Wonseok hit you and glare at him. Although, you're not sure he saw your face through the hat.
"Stop telling people that I'm a pathological liar." You don't have to see to know that he's rolling his eyes. Wonseok shifts a bit and faces Hyunjin and Changbin. "I enlisted right after I graduated high school to get my military service over with. I ended up liking it so much that I stayed for two more years. When I finally enrolled in university, I was so much older than everyone in my classes that I just never mentioned how old I was. I met Y/n our senior year during our internship so I never said anything. She didn't know that I was older until we got our official IDs with our birth year on them."
"And he's so much older," You crack a smile.
"Stop that, I'm only 3 years older than you."
"Whatever," You wave him off as you turn back to the two younger men. "Besides, we're really like family. His parents treat us like siblings."
"Plus I have a girlfriend."
"And he has a girlfri..." Your voice falters in the middle of your sentence as you think about it for a moment. You turn to Wonseok and blink for a moment as you try to process what's happening. "You got a girlfriend? You actually got a woman to talk to you? Romantically? Who is it? Do I know her?"
His lips form a line so tight that the skin around them turns white while he tries to think. You flip part of the bucket hat up so you can see his have better. He's looking down at a blade of grass, contemplating something before he meets your eyes. "Frankie,"
"My Frankie?"
"Well, technically our Frankie but yeah." He sheepishly scratches the back of his neck.
"Oh," Your heart rapidly sinks to the bottom of your stomach.
You physically bite your tongue to prevent yourself from asking a million questions. Knowing that your best friends are dating behind your back hurts. Especially when there's an unspoken agreement against keeping secrets. So why did…
"I'm going to throw this all away and then we can explore a bit more." You get up quickly and take everyone's now empty water bottle.
If you stay where you are and continue to let your mind wander any further, you're going to either say something rude to Wonseok or burst into tears. You're happy that your friends found happy relationships. But they kept it from you and the idea of that doesn't feel good in your head or your heart.
"Noona--"
Wonseok puts his arm out, preventing Changbin from going after you. You're out of ear range as you walk quickly to the trashcan. Wonseok turns to both younger men and shares a small smile. "I get it but if you try to comfort Y/n when she's upset, it's going to become a bigger issue. Trust me, she hate when people see her upset or cry. Just let her have a moment and then she'll be okay."

need that, hamzahthefantastic
—synopsis. mandy invites you to hangout with some of her friends. christmas vlog vid
notes 🫧: guys i need hamzah bad
— 🐞
you sighed with content as you finally landed on an outfit you liked. it was a plain long sleeve with a pair of loose dark wash jeans, you weren’t sure what everyone else would be wearing so you picked something simple.
your phone buzzed, mandy asking if you were on your way to her house. you sent her a voice message as you threw on your coat and grabbed your keys along with your purse and phone.
mandy had invited you over to hang out with her, martin, and hamzah and his friends, who you knew from 4freakshow.
you'd never met chase and claire before, but you've hung out with martin and hamzah a few times with mandy.
you met her when she was in nursing school, becoming friends after a few awkward encounters. she introduced you to martin and after a while you met hamzah, in person at least, since the two of you already followed each other.
you parked your car outside their house and adjusted your lip gloss in the rearview. you were a little nervous for some reason. maybe it was the fact that you were late, maybe it was the new people you were meeting, or maybe it was the vlog.
you have your own youtube channel but being apart of other people's videos always made you feel a little awkward.
you texted mandy that you arrived and headed for the front door, martin opening it before you could knock.
"someone's a little late" martin joked as he let you inside. "oh my god i forgot you guys went bald. that was a freaking jumpscare." you teased.
mandy came up to give you a hug "i know, they look insane. i did not approve." she said before you were introduced to chase and claire. chase walked up with the camera, focused on you. "hi youtube" you stuck out your tongue.
"now that y/n is finally here, the trio outfit is complete." claire handed you a set of pajamas, matching the ones her and mandy had on. you grinned and complimented the set before hamzah came out from the back hallway.
"oh hey, didn't know you got here already" he dapped you up. "boi yes you did, literally went to the bathroom to fix his hair" claire teased. "oh wait..." chase joined in, making you laugh.
"i don't know why he's got this freaking tuque on anyways. embrace the bald dude, embrace the skin." martin pulled his beanie down and rubbed hamzah's bald head, urging hamzah to push him away.
"yo! he just fucking sniffed me" hamzah laughed, grabbing his beanie from his hand. "we're just cucking the viewers i guess" martin said, leaving everyone just staring at him awkwardly.
"yeah anyways, y/n you could go change in my room" mandy told you. "heh, just be careful what you find in there" martin leaned into a shrug. "dude stop" hamzah flicked his hand over martin's head.
once you were changed, chase made you do a twirl for the camera and you posed before tripping out.
"so how come y/n gets a pajama set, but you said no to me?" martin asked mandy. "cause she's one of the girls and you're not a girl"
"plus nobody told you to wear them freak ass leggings boi" hamzah teased him and you laughed. he looked over at you, taking in the fact that he made you laugh.
hamzah always thought you were really pretty and cool, even back when you first followed each other during the 4freakshow days. you didn't even have a youtube channel back then, only posting random tiktoks he thought were funny.
"alright y'all let's get to baking, i'm hungry" chase said behind the camera before flipping it towards him.
you stood next to hamzah as claire pulled up the recipe on her tiktok and her, mandy, and chase got started on measuring things out.
“you can’t just do it willy nilly style brah, measure it” you told martin as he began pouring sugar into the mix. “sometimes you have to live life on the edge, y/n” martin scoffed.
as you continued baking the cookies, you realized how glad you were that you decided to come. martin and hamzah were always a hoot but you really liked claire and chase too.
“noo it was my legs and he said ‘you’re scratching your ass’” claire defended herself from chase and hamzah’s teasing. “girl no i was right behind you”
“we’re having booty cookies” “we got fucking booty flavor” you and hamzah joked at the same time, causing you to crack up and slap his arm.
you took your hand off, not expecting his bicep to be so strong. he nudged you with his elbow, still laughing.
“so, are you actually gonna help bake, y/n?” chase playfully raised his eyebrow. “right, standing here doing nothing” hamzah added. “oh bitch says you, who’s actually done nothing. mr. nonchalant baldhead.” you joked, grabbing the camera from chase and putting it in hamzah’s face.
“boi get outta here boi” he laughed.
while the cookies baked, you guys moved on to putting up the christmas tree. you sat down with chase and claire and began unfolding the branches of the tree. hamzah followed suit, taking a seat on the floor next to you.
rudy walked up to hamzah, who grabbed him with one hand under his belly and placed him in his lap. “awww rudy, who’s a cutie cootie coo. ah poochy poochy poo” you reached over hamzah’s leg to pet the dog.
you scratched behind his ear, unknowing of hamzah staring at you while you did it. “alright let’s put in some freaking work guys” claire said and hamzah lifted rudy into the couch behind him.
“why do you literally manhandle everything that comes your way?” you teased. “like in the video where you’re flinging around fish” hamzah just chuckled in response.
“wait chase, i like your leggings” claire said from behind the camera. “what these aren’t leggings?”
“i’m just saying i’ve never seen a boy wear leggings, it’s a compliment”
“they’re not leggings, they’re thermals! they’re long johns..long johns?” martin retorted, displaying his leg out in front of the other. “you’re wearing fucking leggings”
you and hamzah stifled your laughs in the corner as they continued and martin teared up, walking off with the camera as a bit. “claire you actually made him cry” you giggled.
you felt hamzah lean himself closer to you, taking advantage of the laughing fit everyone was in.
after a while, the cookies were done as you finished decorating the tree, adding a little christmas bunny along with everyone else’s personalized ornaments.
you turned around to hamzah manspreading on the couch, trying to ignore your thoughts about how sexy it was and followed everyone else into the kitchen.
you all iced the cookies before doing a taste test, “boi crumbl cookie could neverrrr” you joked, as the cookies actually turned out bad. “this shit is way too sweet oh my god” hamzah said, spitting his into the trash. “ew dude have some manners” martin scolded him.
once mandy ended the vlog, you all lounged around her living room until you got a emergency text from your roommate.
“bruh, my roommate messed up something with our dryer. i have to go” you frowned. “awww noooo” chase frowned with you. “it was really nice meeting you” he said. “yeah, you’re funny as fuck” claire added. “oh i love you” you hugged her before getting your coat off the rack.
“im so glad you actually came” mandy said. “well thanks for inviting me” you playfully stuck out your tongue. “i’ll see you next time we hang out in like four to six weeks” you said, sarcastically. ugh tell me about it” she smiled as you dapped martin.
hamzah came out from the bathroom, “you’re leaving?” he asked. “yeah my roommate needs help” you pressed your lips together. “oh…..it was cool seeing you though” he dapped you up, pulling you into a small hug. “you too” you smiled, holding his hand a little longer before your phone buzzed again.
“anyways merry christmas and happy holidays everyone! byeeeee” you closed the door behind you and head for your car.

✧・┆drunk on love — lyney
— it's the evening of lyney's birthday when you receive a call to retrieve your drunk partner from the lovely hands of his friend group's.
this piece is set after the story of red lines, although it works as a standalone read~
content warning: lyney is drunk. he's silly, but he's drunk.
Your eyes are barely open when your phone rings. You’ve been trying to finish correcting your master thesis for the entire evening, after sending your boyfriend out to spend his birthday with his friends. Taking a glance at the caller, as well as the time, you notice it’s Wriothesley.
You answer the phone, worry already seeping into your mind. “Hello?”. There are so many things that could’ve gone wrong… given Lyney’s ability to handle alcohol.
“Hi,” Wriothesley says breathlessly, sounding more than exhausted. “Sorry to be calling you so late.”
“It’s alright, what’s up?” You interrupt, drumming your other hand on your keyboard. “You sound miserable, man.”
“Tell me about it…” He says voice muffled as if he’s covered his mouth with his hand. “I hate being the designated driver on nights like these.”
“They made you the designated driver?!” Shock fills your voice. “You didn’t drink, did you?”
“I didn’t, don’t worry—“ Wriothesley laughs. “Quite amusing to see this lot completely drunk. I mean, Neuvillette has been crying about Furina breaking one of her nails for the entire time.”
“Ahh, gotcha.” You nod to yourself, hoping that the man will get back on track soon. “Do you need my help with something?” You ask. Wriothesley calling you is not something that happens regularly. At most, he'd only send you embarrassing pictures of your boyfriend.
“Lyney’s been calling out for you since he took a shot of whiskey. I don’t think I can take him, Furina and Neuvillette home without a drink myself in between…”
As if on cue, Lyney — the man in question — seems to notice he’s being talked about that. You can hear a sudden movement followed by a cheerful laugh.
“Hi, baby!~” Lyney’s voice seems more joyous than ever. Yeah, that man is as drunk as a kite. “I miss you so so so much!!”
“Having fun?” You ask, a small smile gracing your face. Given how stressful the winter season was for everyone involved, with the ever-nearing period of defending their scientific titles approaching, you felt nothing but happiness that Lyney went out to celebrate his birthday with his friends.
“Not the same without youu…” With how he's speaking, there must be a small pout on his face — his eyebrows knit. “No, no no… Wrio, let me talk man…” Ah. Wriothesley must be making a deal with your boyfriend to retrieve his phone.
“As I was saying,” The sole sober person speaks. “You’d do me a huge favour by coming to pick your prince.”
“I’ll go put on my shoes and be on the way.” You say. “Just send me the address. Oh, and don’t allow Lyney to drink more, alright?”
“Will do. Thanks, and sorry, again”
The message containing the group’s location comes the moment you end the call. Dressing yourself in anything comfortable, you’re ready to head out and take Lyney’s car. Ever since getting your driver’s license, he swore the only car you’d ever need is his.
Luckily the road is not too crowded, nor glistened from the rain despite all the inside jokes of Neuvillette’s tears causing it. You arrive without much issue, already spotting the group as you pull up to the parking lot.
Wriothesley is busy balancing an asleep Furina and Neuvillette who keeps on sobbing, head supported on his shoulder. Lyney’s standing on his two feet, zipping up his jacket. Lovely. Perhaps getting him back to the house will be easier than expected. He seems to spot you, approaching as you park the vehicle.
His eyes curve into straight lines as he breaks into a smile. Swaying from side to side, he throws himself into your embrace, burying his face into your shoulder. “Missed youuu”
“One child less to care for?” You ask Wriothesley while patting Lyney’s head.
“Unless you turn the car around…” He chuckles, readjusting Neuvillette’s position. “Thanks for the help, really.”
“Happy to help, Wrio.” With that, you split — each of you heading to their car. With the way you’re both basically dragging other people, it does take a while. “Message me when you’re home!” You shout as he’s settling his friends into the backseat.
“You too!”
“You’re going need to let go of me, Love.” You say, still patting Lyney’s head. It’s been almost five minutes of you standing out in the cold, your partner too clingy to allow you to drive the two of you back. “I promise you, once we’re home you’ll get all the cuddles.”
The blonde turns his head, looking directly at you. It’s unfair, you think, that even underneath this lighting, he still looks like a statue. His hair is unusually curly, and a pair of glasses is balancing on his nose. Not to mention the pure delight in his violet eyes, matching the warm, albeit drunk smile.
“Pinky?” He extends his finger, looking determined. Of course, he’d make you promise something as silly as this. You quickly interlock with one of your own, moving afterwards to open his door.
“Get in,” You smile, holding the door for him. “You’re the passenger prince today.”
All you can hear back is the tiny gibberish thoughts of a drunken man. You help him with the safety belt, and only when you confirm he’s actually buckled in, do you take your designated driver’s seat.
For the first time during your ride, it’s completely quiet. You’re unsure if Lyney’s fallen asleep, but checking the overhead mirror tells you his eyes are very much awake. His head sways slightly as if he was listening to music.
“What’s on the playlist?” You ask, leaning your head towards him, as to signal you’re talking to him.
“Marry you.”
You blink, momentarily distracted by his response. “Marry you? That’s what's in your head right now?" You tease, stealing a quick glance in his direction.
Lyney nods enthusiastically, though the movement is a bit too exaggerated in his tipsy state. “Yep! As Bruno says… It’s a beautiful night,” he slurs with a dreamy smile. “I wanna marry youuuuu.” His voice, although off-key, is filled with unmistakable affection, and it takes everything in you not to laugh.
“You’re so drunk, baby.” You say with a chuckle, shaking your head at him missing some of the words.
“But I’m honest!” He protests, his pout returning. “I think we should… should get married. Like, tomorrow. Or maybe today? We’re both free today!”
“Lyney,” You sigh, though you can’t hide the grin tugging at your lips. “You’re not even going to remember this conversation in the morning.”
“Will too!” He insists, crossing his arms in a huff, though his coordination betrays him and he almost smacks himself in the face. “I’ll remember everything. Like how much I love you, and how I wanna spend all my birthdays with you. And how…” His voice trails off, softer now. “How you’re the best thing in my whole world.”
Your heart squeezes at his words, even if they’re fuelled by alcohol. “Alright, my sweet drunk prince,” You say gently. “Let’s get you home first, and then we can talk about this… grand proposal of yours.”
“Promise?” He mumbles, already starting to doze off.
“I promise,” You reply softly, glancing at him through the mirror again. His eyelids are drooping, his lips curled into a content smile as sleep claims him.

𝓲𝓶𝓹𝓮𝓻𝓯𝓮𝓬𝓽 𝓵𝓸𝓿𝓮
pairing: wooyoung x reader au: ceo | trophy wife genre: angst word count: 2.3k synopsis: finally having enough, you put yourself first. warning(s): cheating, cursing, pregnancy
Wooyoung stepped out of the steamy bathroom, running a hand through his damp hair. He glanced at you sitting on the edge of the bed, your hands resting on your belly. His lips curved into that familiar grin—the one that used to make your heart skip but now left a bitter taste in your mouth.
"Hey, babe," he said casually, his voice as smooth as ever. "You okay? You look tired."
You forced a small smile, though your grip on your belly tightened. "Just the baby kicking. It’s been a long day."
He nodded, walking over to grab a shirt from the dresser. The scent of his cologne mixed with the lingering steam filled the room. You watched him, trying to decide if now was the time to confront him or if you should keep playing along until you figured out what to do.
Your eyes shifted to his phone on the nightstand, its screen dark now. The memory of those messages burned in your mind. His assistant wasn’t just friendly—she was crossing lines that no one should cross, and he hadn’t stopped her.
"Did you talk to the doctor about next week's appointment?" you asked, trying to keep your tone even.
He glanced at you over his shoulder, slipping a shirt over his head. "Yeah, everything's set. I’ll be there, don’t worry."
You wanted to scream. He sounded so normal, so convincing, as if nothing was wrong. As if he wasn’t betraying you again.
"Good," you replied, swallowing the lump in your throat. "I need you there this time."
Wooyoung stepped closer, his hand resting lightly on your shoulder. "Of course I’ll be there," he murmured, his gaze softening as it dropped to your belly. "You and the baby are all that matter to me."
His words should have comforted you, but they didn’t. Not with those messages fresh in your mind. Not with the weight of his lies pressing down on your chest.
You nodded, holding his gaze, but inside, you were already planning your next move. This time, the makeup sex wouldn’t be enough to fix things. This time, you needed more.
The doctor entered with a warm smile, her clipboard tucked under her arm as she closed the door behind her. "Good morning, Y/N," she greeted, her tone cheerful and professional. "How are we doing today?"
You offered a polite smile, though your nerves were evident. "I’m okay," you replied softly, your fingers still fumbling with the hem of your shirt.
The nurse beside you gave you a reassuring pat on the arm. "It’s normal to feel a little anxious," she said kindly, her voice calming. "You’re almost there."
You nodded, stealing a glance at the empty chair next to you. It wasn’t like you expected Wooyoung to show up this time—not after what you’d discovered—but it still stung.
The doctor took a seat and flipped through your file. "Well, everything’s been looking great so far," she said, glancing up at you. "Are there any concerns or changes you’ve noticed since your last visit?"
You hesitated, debating whether to bring up the stress you’d been under. Would it matter? Would it even help? "Just the usual," you said instead. "The baby’s been moving a lot more, and I’m a bit more tired than usual."
She nodded thoughtfully, making notes on her clipboard. "That’s to be expected at this stage," she assured you. "We’ll do an ultrasound today to check on the baby’s position and make sure everything is progressing as it should."
Your heart clenched at the mention of the ultrasound. It was something you’d always looked forward to, but now, it just felt… hollow.
The nurse began preparing the equipment while the doctor stood. "Go ahead and lie back, and we’ll take a look," she said with a smile.
You did as instructed, trying to relax as the cool gel was applied to your swollen belly. The familiar whir of the machine filled the room, and soon the screen lit up with the grainy image of your baby.
"There we are," the doctor said, pointing to the screen. "Everything looks great. Strong heartbeat, good position. Your baby’s just about ready to make their debut."
You smiled faintly, tears pricking your eyes. For a moment, the weight of everything else disappeared. It was just you and your baby.
But as the doctor wrapped up the appointment and you wiped the gel from your belly, reality came crashing back. You were going through this alone, whether Wooyoung was physically there or not.
You thanked the doctor and nurse, scheduled your next appointment, and left the office with a deep breath. As you walked to the bus stop, you placed a protective hand over your belly.
"I’ve got you," you whispered. "No matter what happens, it’s you and me."
Wooyoung's phone buzzed incessantly on the counter as he stood in his kitchen, scrolling absentmindedly through his messages. He glanced at the screen, his jaw tightening when he saw the name flashing on it: Minji.
Her texts were coming in rapid succession:
“Wooyoung, please, it’s urgent.” “I need you to come over right now. It’s an emergency.” “Don’t ignore me, Woo. You promised you’d be there for me, too.”
He sighed, running a hand through his hair. He knew today was important—your appointment, your baby, the family he was supposed to be prioritizing. But Minji wasn’t stupid; she knew exactly how to play him.
He hesitated, guilt clawing at him. He told himself it wouldn’t take long, that he’d swing by, see what was so urgent, and then make it to the appointment. Surely, you wouldn’t notice his absence right away.
By the time he pulled into her driveway, his mind was spinning with excuses he’d feed you later. Stepping out of the car, he was greeted by Minji at the door, her expression a mix of worry and triumph.
“You came,” she breathed, clutching her chest dramatically.
“What’s the emergency?” he asked, stepping inside and glancing around for any sign of chaos.
Minji hesitated, her lip quivering just enough to tug at his conscience. “I… I just didn’t know what to do,” she said, her voice wavering. “I needed you.”
“Minji, I can’t keep doing this,” Wooyoung said, his tone low but firm. “You know I have a family to think about. I have responsibilities—”
“I know,” she cut him off, stepping closer. Her eyes shimmered with unshed tears, and her hands reached for his. “But what about me, Woo? You’ve been there for her all this time. I needed you today, too.”
He sighed, torn between the mess he’d created and the mess he was still walking into. As she stepped closer, the faint smell of her perfume filled his senses, clouding his judgment.
Meanwhile, at the clinic, you sat in the bus stop, staring at your phone. You’d called Wooyoung twice, left a message, and even sent him a text. No response.
Your hand rested protectively on your belly as your mind filled with anger and sadness. Deep down, you knew where he was—or more accurately, who he was with.
But this time, something inside you shifted. The disappointment wasn’t just another wave to ride out. It was a breaking point. You weren’t going to let him keep doing this—not to you, and definitely not to your baby.
If Wooyoung wanted to keep playing these games, you were ready to end them. For good.
Wooyoung cursed under his breath as he stumbled out of Minji's apartment, his shirt half-buttoned and his shoes barely on. His phone buzzed in his hand, mocking him with the missed calls and unread messages from you. Guilt twisted in his chest, but it wasn’t enough to stop him from making the choices he had.
Minji leaned lazily against the doorway, her silk robe draped around her as she smirked, clearly pleased with herself. "You better hurry, lover boy," she called out teasingly. "Wouldn’t want your little family to get suspicious."
Wooyoung shot her a glare but said nothing, slamming the door behind him as he hurried down the stairs. His mind raced as he thought about what excuse he could give you this time. Traffic? A work call? Something believable but not too rehearsed.
Sliding into his car, he started the engine and sped toward the clinic, his stomach twisting with every second that ticked by. He kept glancing at his phone, seeing your name on the screen, the time stamp of your last message glaring back at him: “Where are you?”
His heart dropped when he made it back home, he was expecting another ultrasound picture that you usually sent but nothing. When he entered into the house, it didn't even feel like home. When he walked up the stairs, that's when he heard the sniffles. His heart broke when he saw Yeosang pacing back and forth in your shared room. A luggage on the bed beside you as Yeosang helped you packed.
Wooyoung froze in the doorway, his breath hitching as the scene unfolded before him. You sat on the edge of the bed, tears streaking your face as you clutched a folded onesie in your hands. Yeosang paced the room, his jaw clenched and his movements tense, clearly trying to hold himself together for your sake.
The sight of the open luggage on the bed made Wooyoung’s chest tighten. This wasn’t just an argument, wasn’t just a bad day. This was you leaving.
“Y/N,” Wooyoung started, his voice low and shaky, stepping into the room.
Yeosang stopped pacing immediately, his sharp gaze snapping to Wooyoung. “Don’t,” he warned, his tone cold and biting. “You don’t get to come in here like this. Not after what you’ve done.”
“What are you talking about?” Wooyoung asked, his voice defensive but laced with guilt. His eyes darted between you and the luggage. “Baby, let me explain—”
You looked up at him then, and the raw pain in your eyes made him falter. “Explain what?” you choked out, your voice trembling. “Explain why you couldn’t even bother to show up today? Why you were with her instead of being with us?”
Wooyoung’s throat tightened, and he reached out as if to comfort you, but Yeosang stepped in front of you protectively, his expression daring Wooyoung to try.
“I waited for you,” you continued, your voice growing stronger despite the tears. “I sat there, hoping you’d walk through the door. And when you didn’t, I realized… this isn’t the first time, Wooyoung. It’s a pattern. And I can’t—I won’t do this anymore.”
“Y/N, please,” Wooyoung pleaded, his voice breaking as he tried to step closer. “It’s not what you think—”
Yeosang let out a humorless laugh, cutting him off. “Not what she thinks?” he spat. “She knows exactly what it is, and so do I. You’ve been lying to her, to all of us. And now, you’re losing her because of it.”
Wooyoung’s hands balled into fists at his sides, but he couldn’t bring himself to argue. He knew Yeosang was right. But his ego didn't let it go. He went down on his knees, crawling towards you as he began to cry.
You froze at the sound of his knees hitting the floor, his sobs echoing through the room as he crawled toward you. The sight of Wooyoung, usually so cocky and full of bravado, breaking down in front of you was almost too much to bear. But then you remembered the sleepless nights, the loneliness, the betrayal.
“Baby, please!” he cried, his voice cracking as tears streamed down his face. “She meant nothing to me, I swear! It was a mistake—just a stupid, meaningless mistake. Don’t leave me. Don’t take our baby away from me.”
Yeosang stood protectively beside you, his hand steady on your back as he stared down at Wooyoung with thinly veiled disgust. “You should’ve thought about that before you kept running back to her,” Yeosang said coldly, his voice cutting through Wooyoung’s desperate pleas.
You clenched your fists, torn between anger and heartbreak. “A mistake?” you repeated, your voice trembling. “Wooyoung, this wasn’t just one mistake. It’s been over and over again, and every time, I let myself believe your lies. But I can’t do it anymore. I won’t do it anymore.”
Wooyoung shook his head violently, his hands clutching at your knees as he begged. “I’ll change! I’ll prove it to you—I’ll do anything. Just… don’t leave me. I can’t lose you. I can’t lose our baby.”
You stared down at him, your heart breaking into a million pieces. For a moment, you thought about the man you fell in love with, the man who made you laugh and promised to build a future with you. But that man felt like a distant memory now, buried under the lies and betrayal.
“You already lost us, Wooyoung,” you said softly, your voice steady despite the tears in your eyes. “Not because I’m walking away, but because you pushed me away every time you chose her over us. I’ve given you so many chances, and every time, you broke my trust.”
He sobbed harder, his grip on you tightening as he buried his face against your legs. “Please, Y/N. Please, just one more chance. I’ll fix this. I’ll fix everything.”
Yeosang stepped forward, his hand pulling Wooyoung’s arms away from you with a firm but gentle touch. “Enough, Wooyoung,” he said firmly. “You need to let her go. She’s made her decision.”
You took a shaky breath and looked at Yeosang, grateful for his strength when yours felt like it was crumbling. “Let’s go,” you whispered, your voice barely audible.
Yeosang nodded and helped you steady yourself as you turned toward the door. Wooyoung’s cries followed you, his broken voice pleading one last time.
“Y/N… please don’t leave me. I love you!”
You paused at the doorway, tears streaming down your face, before turning to look at him one final time. “If you loved me, Wooyoung,” you said, your voice trembling, “you wouldn’t have done this.”
And with that, you walked out, leaving him on his knees, the weight of his choices crashing down around him.

autistic reader upset over their clothes and trying to explain to bucky and nat but their words they are trying to say arent coming out so they just start sobbing hoping they understand
summary: autistic reader has a breakdown then has a nice bath and falls asleep nice and cozy!
notes: since anon didn't mention age reg. i didn't include it but made it general enough that it could be viewed as little!reader, obviously angsty, mentions of scratching arms and pulling hair while in distress
550 words
You drop to the floor, landing painfully on your knees, but you're so distressed it doesn't faze you. You're aware of Bucky beside you, and you think you can hear Natasha rushing towards the two of you.
You pull at your clothes and then switch to pulling your hair and scratching your arms. Everything is a blur. You don't hear your heavy sobs, nor the worried discussion between your caregivers.
"Hey bug, how can we help you, hm?"
You can't speak, your overstimulated mind can't form coherent words, only groans and miserable whines leave your mouth. You tug at your clothes more, hoping they get the message. It seems that it works.
"Ok I'm going to pull off your shirt, love." Hands take your shirt over your head. "Next I'm going to take your pants off." You shriek as your pants scrape against your legs as they come off, and your hands find themselves in your hair.
Your breathing is fast and inconsistent, but your tears stop and your mind slows down. You stay on the floor curled into yourself, trying to come down from the rush of emotions. You recognize the presence of Bucky and Nat nearby, they're silent but you know they're there.
"Mama?"
"Hey baby, I'm here. Papa's beside me too." You release a pained whine, instead of what you had hoped to be something intelligible. Maybe you're not totally recovered.
They don't speak until you sit up, not looking at them but at the floor.
"Bath?" A nice warm bath seemed nice, you’re starting to get cold without your clothes and without the adrenaline.
"Yeah sweetheart, we can do that." Bucky responds to you. He'd normally ask you who you wanted to help you bathe, but he knows that questions are too hard for you in this headspace. "How about Mama helps you with the bath and I'll warm up some food, okay?"
You nod, and look towards Natasha, not meeting her eyes but checking to see that she's there. She holds her hand out to you, and you accept it. Your legs are shaky as you get up, taking your time to stand.
You walk slowly to the bathroom and wait as Nat fills up the tub and gets your towel and cozy clothes. When there's enough water, Nat helps you step into the bath, and then she sits on the floor beside the tub, reading a book.
You lean into the water, submerging yourself until only your face is dry. You take deep breaths, relaxing your muscles into the soothing warmth. You realize how tired and hungry you are. Crying that much, and experiencing emotions that intense took a lot out of you.
~
When you get out of the bath, Nat dresses you in fuzzy pyjamas and cozy socks. She carries you into the living room where Bucky has set up food on the coffee table and put on a comforting show. He wraps you in a blanket when Nat sets you down on the couch.
You're silent as he feeds you, glazed eyes watching the tv. You start to nod off after 20 minutes and Bucky carries you to bed. They tuck you in, and your stuffie is placed in your arms. After two kisses on your forehead, you doze off almost immediately.

Hair Dye
Trafalgar Law x Male Reader
Fandom -> One Piece
Masterlist
Law had to take a double take, having to actually rub his eyes—believing for once, he's so sleep deprived without him being aware of it—thought he had misread these numbers twice already, when a distressed pair of Penguin and Sachi came jogging towards him and showed—more like slapping the paper into his face—him a new Wanted Poster.
It's not just any Wanted Poster from some random or unknown Pirate—and neither from one of his Rivals he might remotely care to know about—they have showed him, but it's your Wanted Poster and your new current bounty is truly something to gnaw on in disbelieving shock.
And besides the high bounty, there's also the fact of what's written above now—convicting a new messages for every- and anyone to make you a new desirable target to hunt down—because at the very beginning, Law remembers this good as this was one of the few unusual Wanted's he had sawn, you had been written as “Missing” (with a good sum of money to be paid for whoever might have brought you back) than it went—after what happened in Enies Lobby—to (rightfully, is what you've proclaimed proudly) “Dead or Alive” and now, after the mass destruction you've caused at Marineford, it's “Only Dead”.
It's ridiculous, Law thinks, only a year has passed and now the Marines saw you as some new big threat—even though you really couldn't be considered as such an apparent danger—but oh! Wait, yeah, Law takes it back as he recalls the ruckus on Sabaody, the destruction on Marineford and the wrecking of two fleets you did have done—you definitely should be feared.
Law pinched the bridge of his nose, sighing out a deep inhale of breath, feeling annoyance sweeping in—such news completely ruins today's plans now, because how is he going to tell you that the shopping trip is being cancelled and you yourself is the reason for it.
It actually wasn't planned to dock on land for another two weeks, but you have asked—more like pleaded and begged—him if you could go on land a bit sooner, needing fresh air and a bit of walking in sunshine—and Law had given in to your wish, only because you've asked so nicely (cute), could understand your point as you're (still) not used to sail deep under the ocean—which also was a discovery of a new found panic—missing the surface.
»Okay, Law! I'm all set and ready to go!« you've called from the door, walking out onto the deck of the Polar Tang—greeting Law and the others with a smile, feeling just a bit shy to wear one of Laws hoodies, but they're are rather comfy and warm and you still haven't found new clothes which are to your liking.
Law looks at you and while he finds it appealing that you wearing his clothes—he had learned it the hard way, just how picky you are, when it comes to buying clothes and it did have caused a small heated conversation between you two—tiny bit big in size, he couldn't stop himself from frowning—making you frown as well, sparking a little self-conscious up, thinking your appearance isn't looking good.
»We can't–« Law stopped himself to say anything further, sighing out again—you definitely would be upset, not because of your ridiculously new high bounty—which Law is not telling you about as well, not really wanting to have you yet again restless for the next few nights—but because you can't have your nights out, which you had so looked forward to.
»Sachi, Penguin, do me a favour and buy some hair dye.«
Law might couldn't completely change your appearance—and you would threaten to destroy the Polar Tang again, when he dares to try such—but dyeing your hair should be enough to not get you, hopefully, so easily recognised.
»Are we not going out?« you ask, a hearable sad undertone in your voice, when Law had manoeuvres you back inside.
»Soon.« was all Law had replied, taking your hand and leading you back inside the ship—all the way to the bathroom.
~~~•~~~
»Why are we dyeing my hair again?« you questioned—despite knowing the answer already as Law had told you before his intentions behind it, but you felt like asking again—when Law started to wash out whatever colour Sachi and Penguin had brought.
»Be careful with my white streak.«
»I am.« grunts Law, going once more through your hair with his fingers—making sure the chemicals are completely out—before grabbing the towel and starting to dry you off.
The white streaks in your, once, (h/c) hair had been a contrast in colour, but you wore it with pride and while Law couldn't really get behind—more like believing—your story of Sky Islands and fighting a false God, he does agree that getting strike down three times by lightning and still being alive, despite the remaining scar by your heart and white hair, was something impressive to must have experience.
»It's a bit late to go out now, but we're going tomorrow.«
»Promise?« there's a bit of a pout on your lips—a slight pleading in your eyes and Law thought about to go today as planned, but you already indirectly agreed to his offer.
Law only hummed in response.
~~~•~~~
Laws brilliantly idea of dyeing your (h/c) hair into a bright pink, to not have you recognised—as if he isn't some feared pirate as well, but of course he himself doesn't see a need in going undercover as well—by the Marines did not have worked so successfully as Law had hoped.
When Law and you had walked through the town—you holding his hand while Law looking more than annoyed by it, even though it's a year already of you two being a couple now, but you knew he doesn't mind—the first few hours had passed well.
But then a group of Marines patrolled by and, practically given Law the faults here—because why do you have to change your appearance, but he doesn't need to?—they had recognised you instantly, calling back up as well—unlucky luck for being in a town with a small base—and the marathon of chase had begun.
Getting separated from Law was also not part of the escapism, but here you are now—hiding in a alley, ducked down behind some empty barrels, you huffed out—lungs, feeling clogged from all the dust and sand, heavily burning from the running—trying to regulate your breathing into steady patterns again.
All you had asked for, were a few hours of walking around and getting some needed fresh air—the constant pressuring feeling of suffocation and tight spaces had begun to edge you into overwhelm—maybe even spending a bit of quality time with your boyfriend as well—but not be hunted down.
»Fuck.« you hissed out, getting up as fast as possible—when you had been spotted—sprinting out of the alley, ignoring the thumping, burning, feeling in your leg—getting shot in the leg, surprise, wasn't on today's agenda as well.
Someone grabbed your arm, turning you in one swing around and let you collide with them—you had half a mind to either blast or wipe them away—but there's the familiar yellow hoodie and when you looked up, there are the familiar grey eyes of Law.
»There you are!« though before you could say anything further, Law had used his Shambles and teleported back to the Polar Tang.
Once back on the ship, you let Law do as he pleases—throwing you over his shoulder—and making his way towards the Med-bay, you're having too much of a headache anyway to argument with him.

Episode 12 review (rant)
Episode 12 might be one of the worst episodes so far. if not the worst. at least episodes 8 and 10 were so ridiculous we got some type of content out of it. But his??? We spend 90% of the episode talking about fuck all and the 10% we get with our crush is extremely underwhelming considering the situation they're in.
Jason found an unconscious Ysa on the ground after she texted him asking for help and this was still one of the most boring episodes. HOW DO YOU FUMBLE SO BADLY!? Yeah, him basically saying she changed his life and her asking him if he sees her as a burden (he doesn't) was a cute moment (and so were the blankets) but it's just not enough. Especially after the last episode. idk..Them not addressing the date from the last episode pissed me off.
I see the blurred vision they have for their relationship BUT waiting (and paying if you’re a vip) for a month only to get one moment is soooo annoying.
And then we have Devon. Don't get me wrong, the illustration is beautiful BUT the special scene is painfully underwhelming (they just talk about ghosts, nothing about that scene feels special) And yeah, just like with Jason there is one short moment that's pushing their relationship forward. When Devon said he thought they were already really close and then they almost kiss BUTTTTT let me remind you that we had a similar scene in the last ep. At this point they almost kissed twice (And both times they would've kissed if something didn't interrupt them) How long are we going to rinse and repeat the exact same scenario?
Anyway I am begging the fanfic writers to write this episode from Jaosn’s POV. Bro got a message from the girl he likes begging him to help her and then he found her unconscious, laying in mud in the middle of a forest. THE ANGST POTENTIAL

🤍🖤☔️Rainy Romances☔️🤍🖤
Ugatha Rosenhein x Prof. Puzzles (OC x Canon)
Okay, so finally got around to making a fanfic. I haven’t made a fanfic in a HOT minute, so apologies if my writing is shitty lmaoo.
I got the idea bc it’s really rainy where I’m at, so why not write a fanfic between the two most hated professors in a relationship at GMOD University?
I hope y’all like this. This was also inspired by @frantic-drawer’s fanfic, so I’m using that for reference!
if you don’t like OC x Canon, I recommend that you scroll away.
some characters mentioned belong to @frantic-drawer, who owns NOVA, and @runrabitrunrunrun who owns Nicknack! Go check them out, they’re awesome!
btw, just so there’s no confusion, I’m going to be using @jovialoddity’s human puzzles! Creds to them btw for his human design, as it is not mine.
Now onto the fanfic!!

Rainy days. Of course it was a rainy day.
Not that Professor Puzzles hated them, he just never really liked how dreary it looked…nor did he like getting wet.
But luckily for him, he could stay inside his home, and unfortunately grade his students sloppy work. Kind of a take-back, but it was better than getting soaked in that horrible weather. At least he was staying dry.
As Puzzles typed away on his computer, he heard his phone buzz beside him. Finally, an opportunity to have a small break from grading. He picked it up, and saw it was a text message.
From his beloved Ugatha.
Puzzles could feel himself smiling already. He knew Ugatha usually slept in when she had a day off, so he was happy to know he could finally talk to her. It was 2:00 in the afternoon after all, and he had been waiting patiently…or at least tried to.
Ugatha 💕: “Hey, what are you up to?”
He typed back,
“Nothing of interest, really. Grading my students work, that is. Not very fun if you ask me. The only good work I’ve had so far is from NOVA and Nicknack.”
Ugatha 💕: “Haha. Who knows, you might have better luck! You can do this, hon.”
“You can do this.”
The words of encouragement he always heard, but he loved to hear from her. Sometimes, he even questioned if he deserved this angel of a woman.
He smiled, before typing,
“Thank you, love. I really do need that.”
Ugatha send a “❤️”. He sent a heart back. Just when he thought she was done, Ugatha sent,
Ugatha 💕: “I just realized it was raining outside, I don’t know how I didn’t notice before, lol”
Puzzles chuckled a bit at that, before he replied,
”Yeah, it is pretty bad outside.”
Ugatha 💕: “Do you think it’s good enough to run around in?”
Puzzles paused at that. Was it safe to go out in. To him, it was a big fat no.
“You can try, but I’m not finding out for you. Be my guest.”
Ugatha 💕: “Alright. Well, I’ll talk to you later, hon. I have an experiment to do.”
Puzzles looked at the message with his crooked eyebrow raised. Experiment? She made it sound like something a mad scientist would say. Oh well, that was Ugatha. Always coming up with ideas.
As he looked away from his phone, he then remembered what he was originally doing before he got distracted. He let out a dreadful sigh, rubbing his temples. He hated this job, but he had to do what he had to do.
He went on, a cycle of doing a double take at some questionable scripts, messily written pitches, and just the overall hellhole of lazy work done by his students. How he wished he could just throw them into a room with Michael Myers…
But, something outside caught his eye that interrupted his little internal moping. He paused in his work, and stood up, walking over to the window to get a better look at what he was seeing.
It was Ugatha. Out in the rain. Dancing and spinning around like a carefree child.
Puzzles was a little bewildered at the sight, but soon his silent, neutral stare turned into a little smile, along with a chuckle escaping his lips.
But then he stopped when he realized something.
She wasn’t even wearing a coat.
All she was wearing was a sweater, a long skirt, and her ballet flats.
Puzzles panicked a little. Ugatha could get a cold, or maybe even frostbite! He hesitated for a moment. He didn’t like the rain, and he also didn’t to get his new clothes wet.
But it was Ugatha he was worried about.
Without another thought, he dashed over to the door, and just snatched a coat from a rack, not even getting himself one. He practically flung the door open, and ran out. He grimaced a bit feeling the rain soak his hair and his skin, but that didn’t matter right now. He’d fuss later.
He quickly ran over to Ugatha, and frantically spoke,
“Ugatha, what on Earth do you think you’re doing out in this dreadful weather?! Y-You could get sick out here—hell, you could get struck by lightning!”
Ugatha just looked at him, a little surprised to see him here, but she huffed a bit. Her voice raised, but no real anger or any signs of agitation in her tone, she replied,
“Well I’m completely fine for your information, and secondly, you’re one to talk! You don’t have a coat either!”
Puzzles sighed. He hated, and adored her stubbornness. Then again, he could be stubborn too. More than her.
“Well, that doesn’t matter. You’ve been out here a little longer than I have, so there.”
He draped the coat around her shoulders, cuing Ugatha to put it on.
Puzzles just stared at her for a minute. Her soft, fluffy hair was wet and sticking to her face, neck, and clothes. Her clothes were soaked. Nonetheless, she looked unbothered and rather calm. He couldn’t help but think despite her state, she looked beautiful…well, she looked beautiful all the time.
Her voice was beautiful.
Her personality was beautiful.
Everything about her was breathtaking.
Ugatha’s voice broke through his thoughts.
“What is it?”
She seemed to have noticed him staring at her. He looked at her, before fixing some of his now wet hair out of his eyes.
“…Nothing, love…you..you look pretty like this.”
This made Ugatha let out a giggle. She held one of his hands, her small fingers and his long fingers intertwining.
“What, is this the part where you tell me your undying devotion for me, and then we kiss like in the books?”
Ugatha teased, playfully nudging his shoulder. Puzzles grinned, letting out a small laugh.
“Well, perhaps that is what happens.”
He cupped her face so delicately, his thumb caressing her cheek, which was showered in raindrops. He leaned in, looking into her eyes.
“…I love you, you crazy woman.”
Just before Ugatha could shoot a teasing reply back, he had already pulled her into a kiss, his hands in her hair, Ugatha wrapping her arms around his neck.
Those two had not a care in the world that they were embedded in the cold, wet weather. For now, they forgot about their worries and stresses, and kissed in the rain, soaking each other in.
