“buffy ended the show single :)” ok but only because her current love interest just DIED!! (he near quite literally died in her arms! in sacrifice for her!) her last words of the entire series were telling him she loves him and then saying his name in admiration. she isn’t single; she’s a widow.

rhaenyra outsourcing motherhood to rhaena and assigning her that passive feminine role was REALLY interesting….. rhaenyra as a character is at her most fascinating when she is forced to navigate and ultimately perpetuate the gendered structures she despises and wishes she could transcend— the seeds of her tragedy already sewn here. just great character work
#esp because in the books rhaena is painted as the sweet peaceful girly girl to baela’s gnc rebellion#but woah it’s cool that theyre both actually straining at it. wah#it’s also very targ women can only escape the bounds of the patriarchy when they have their dragons and even then they actually cant.#like thats an illusion of freedom for the most part ☹️#hotd#hotd spoilers#obviously rhaenyra doesnt really have much of a choice here but thats the point it’s a system#and to have any power at all you will have to crack under the desires of that system and the whims of your stupid misogynist vassals#thats the rosby stokeworth thing!!!! ITS HAPPENING!!!!!!#what would you sell to break your chain. who would you throw under your wheels#god rhaenyra is just a triumph of adaptation huh. theyre gonna hit that swing into selling her soul so hard

Fashion of the Great Houses of Westeros: House Tully of Riverrun
#asoiafedit#asongoficeandfireedit#valyrianscrolls#valyriansource#tullyedit#housetullyedit#asoiaf#a song of ice and fire#house tully#ghf*#mine*#this is actually the first house i visualised in a fashion sense way back when#i watched claire mccarthy's ophelia in 2020 and saw all the gorgeous flowy gowns and daisy ridley's red wig and just went 'tully!!!'#I know the Riverlands are very rich and populous due to their centralisation but in my mind#they’re also a little behind culturally due to the constant battles and invasions#so the style of their fashion is a little less structured and complex than what you’d find in the westerlands or the vale or the stormlands#and also the cut of the outfits is reminiscent of what you’d find in both the iron islands and the north which echoes the impact#both kingdoms have had on the region#that doesn’t mean they skimp on fabric or aesthetic though!!#there's lots of flowy silks and shiny fabrics that evok running water#women wear their hair either loose or in intricate braids held with metal rings (a holdover from the three centuries of durrandon reign)#also THEE beetle wing lady macbeth dress is here in spirit!!!#500*

I just realized that The Locked Tomb series would be waaaay more popular than it is right now if one or both of the leads were male cause people go nuts for hogwarts esc houses, enemy's to lovers romance, and lore as deep as my fingers in your mom.
Someone please talk to me about this I am genuinely out raged.
#the locked tomb#gideon the ninth#harrow the ninth#nona the ninth#like its litrually a recipe for success#houses with specific personality traits that are easy to attach and easily marketable#enemys to lovers#the lore oh GOD THE LORE#girlies should be going nuts for it but for some reason everyone hates women and thats the true tragedy here#and lesbians. they also hate lesbians#maybe its for the best. they could barely handle Catra so i dont think theyd handle Harrow very well#both a blessing and a curse. not popular enough to be able to buy merch at a convention but at least we arent getting garbage hot takes like#the she ra fandom did

Maybe the problem with Christian fiction is that it's non-denominational. People are just "Christian", with no effort put into showing what practicing that religion looks like for them specifically. No indication that there are other Christians who could have different beliefs. No wrestling with differing ideas and the struggle of how one should live out their Christian faith. And that makes it unrealistic and unrelatable.
#me reading any christian historical fiction set in england: why are none of these gentry anglican??#they ARE all anglican and if they are not it is extremely plot and character relevant you can't just have them using evangelical buzzwords#but i'm also thinking of this because i started another charlotte yonge book#that is by far my favorite of the things of hers that i've read#because it has characters who have different upbringings and religious opinions#instead of just 'here's a bunch of high church anglicans judging people who don't live up to their victorian standard'#you have the very high church anglican rector whose wife is worldly but still a very good person#the girl raised in a very strict protestant family who is more scrupulous than the anglicans but is still recognized as a good person#you have people who are trying to work out the nuances of different issues#and that makes it so much more realistic and so much easier to integrate into the story#(the politics though are hilarious)#(most of the classics that survive are the ones that were 'ahead of their time' in politics)#(so it's equally fascinating and refreshing and a bit infuriating to see one that is very very of its time with regards to women's rights)#('why did this woman get up at the meeting and explain her very good ideas for rebuilding after the fire? she should have had a man do it')#(meanwhile i'm just screaming 'why on earth SHOULDN'T she???')#(it's almost enough to make a feminist of me)

how do you fall in love with yourself
unlearn the idea that confidence is conceit. i see this belief imposed on women especially, that if they’re very unapologetic about loving themselves it automatically means they’re narcissistic / think they’re better than everybody else. that’s not true at all. you can love yourself while also acknowledging you’re not inherently better than anyone else. you can love yourself while also being kind & supportive to others. it’s okay to be both of these things at once.
let go of the scarcity mindset. women (everyone really, but especially women) get pitted/compared against each other all the time. you see it w female celebrities in the media, but it’s very prevalent in real life as well. this is very much years of societal conditioning & both women & men partake in this behavior. ignore it. rest easy knowing that there can be multiple beautiful women, multiple smart women, multiple funny women in any environment at any given time. there is enough clout to go around; you don’t need to feel like if there’s another pretty/smart girl it means you no longer have the space to also be a pretty/smart girl. instead operate from an abundance mindset: always (alwaysss) be happy for other girls when they succeed, when they’re praised, when they’re loved, whatever. see them not as competition but as inspiration. envy is such a colossal waste of time bc nobody else’s accomplishments have any bearing on your own!!
get to know yourself more. i love the analogy of dating yourself bc it’s true. i went through a rough period of being around my ex 24/7 to the point i didn’t even know myself, and then i spent the post-breakup year hanging around everyone else constantly to numb my thoughts. now i’m spending more time alone than ever & i’m getting to know myself so much. learning about my taste in fashion, music, everything. and i’ve had so much more time to invest in hobbies & skills, which is very instrumental to building healthy self-esteem. ofc there’s a more balanced way to do this, but make sure you’re not running away from yourself!
what do you like outside of everybody’s opinion? don’t interpret this the wrong way—it’s completely fine to be inspired. every single person you know has copied someone else to an extent. but if you find yourself going too far, not trusting yourself to make the simplest decisions, just following trends blindly and nothing else, you’ve left the inspiration territory and started crossing into plagiarism. move from a place of self-direction and really think about what is naturally appealing to you. it doesn’t matter if it’s not popular or nobody else likes it. if you like it & if it makes you happy, that’s all you need.
practice self-love! i had to do this lol but it works wonders. i started intentionally telling myself that i trust my own taste, that i trust my own choices, that if i think something’s cool it’s good enough, talking to myself kindly etc etc. eventually all this stuff will become natural to you & you won’t find yourself having to expend so much energy into simply loving you for you. don’t give up even if it’s hard to believe at times.
don’t give a fuck. seriously. just don’t give a single flying fuck what someone else has to say. there will always be That One Person who tries to tear you down, belittles you, gaslights you etc etc and if you know in your heart you’re not doing anything wrong, just ignore and keep it pushing. you can’t be everyone’s favorite person (nor should you want to be). think of your favorite celebrity. anyone ever. they probably all got subjected to hate. now think of how they’re successful still & how it didn’t take anything away from them. there you go <3
if literally everyone on this planet starts hating you, loving yourself is still the antidote. to clarify, how others perceive us does hold weight. but if legit every single person i know started hating me, and i still loved myself, i’d probably still live a full life bc my perception is all that really matters in the end. i don’t need anyone else to be my #1 fan—i can do that myself just fine. it technically is actually your world & everyone else is just living in it. so enjoy that! stop giving a hard time to the one person who will always be w you through thick and thin (yourself). eat good food & watch good shows & read good books & just have fun. i love u
#i have a lot to say ab this bc i went from being in a very low place to now being my own favorite girl in the world so#also i refer to women a couple of times here but really this is applicable to everyone!!#ask

You know sometimes it just hits you that so much of queer "discourse" is basically one group of queer people trying to cultivate a subcommunity for themselves and their identity while another group of queer people cry and scream about how that group, who is just trying to exist and have their own bubble, is the cause of all their own group's problems
#Jean mumbles#This is about asexuals and pansexuals and bisexuals and mspec lesbians and aspec lesbians and mspec and aspec in genera#It's about neopronouns and xenogenders and trans men and transneutrals and trans women and nonbinary people#And multigender people and genderqueer people and he/him lesbians and she/her gays and intersex people and so on and so on#And yes. It's about kinksters too. Because kink belongs in the queer community too.#You know what this isn't about. I am on my knees begging you to not say the most blatant “EXCEPT FOR [redacted]”#Because we know. We fucking know. Those people aren't welcome here. Stop making every queer inclusion post about those people#They aren't part of the community and they never will be so cut it oooouuuutttttt#Anyway. Yeah. So much queer discourse is basically ''you exist in a way that challenges my preconceived notion of queerness-#- and that makes me very uncomfortable and upset so. Kill yourself?? Please?" and people think they're somehow morally righ#For doing this. Like actually grow up. Actually grow the fuck up before you pipe up.

"I want Annabeth to be blonde :(" then pick up a PJO book and read it you dumb fuck
#pjo fans stop being weird about black annabeth challenge IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#first off annabeths race isnt important to her story. annabeth could be any race. her skin colour doesnt actually impact her. her hair does#now im not blonde but im a white girl so let me explain why some pjo fans need to stfu. i have grade 9s. im called stupid for my appearance#im not insulted bc im white or bc i have blue eyes or brown hair. im insulted bc women are judged on their appearance because SEXISM!!#annabeth isnt called dumb for being blonde. shes called dumb bc shes female. and ppl are more likely to stereotype women than men#this is especially true for black women! whatever sexism white women get is always horrifically multiplied for women of colour#black hair frequently gets called unprofessional untidy unhygienic etc. its VERY likely that show annabeth received prejudice for her hair#does this make the casting “accurate”? no. but castings don't have to be accurate. they have to ADD to the character.#annabeth being black ADDS to her character because it showcases how women (esp black women) are devalued for their appearance#movie annabeth wasnt bad for having brown hair or white skin or whatever she was a bad adaptation bc she was out of character#i just think its ironic that a core aspect of annabeth was being judged for her looks. and now show annabeth is getting judged for her look#like. you guys really missed the point here.#anyways disagree all you want but book annabeth is still blonde. no one is erasing her. Theres a new PJO book w blonde annabeth SEPTEMBER 2#GO READ CHALICE OF THE GODS IF U WANT BLONDE ANNABETH OMG! adaptions and source material can be separate and coexist!#rant over sorry#pjo#percy jackson#annabeth chase#pjo show#percy jackson and the olympians#the lightning thief#discourse#shitpost#percy jackson show#pjo discourse#riordanverse

the thing about eliot spencer as a character, right. the thing about him.
(and as always your mileage may vary on my analyses so if we disagree that's cool actually)
is that he is in fact a somewhat emotionally constipated idiot who is occasionally sensitive about his perceived masculinity and gets defensive about emotional intimacy around other men (largely hardison, who's much more comfortable expressing affection and embracing a softer kind of masculinity), but eliot displays enough emotional awareness and sensitivity and respect for women etc etc that anyone who's been subjected to that era of television will put on rose-tinted glasses without even looking twice.
(and he is, don't get me wrong, incredibly emotionally aware for a professionally punchy guy with enough trauma to sink the titanic. it still startles me to see.)
on top of which we have the layers and the accessories and the excellent hair with the secret braids and the way he barely has an ego and he's good with kids and protective of his team without taking it too far, and some of us never stood a fucking chance.
#eliot#eliot spencer#orig#further discussion in further tags#I'm being perhaps a little critical and there are other ways to read eg the fragile masculinity moments#but I Do think they were intended this way and largely come across this way#I'm quite happy playing with a fanon eliot who's better at this shit is the thing? it feels faithful enough to the original.#but this is something I'm chewing over in a rewatch and it's interesting so far#the fact that he pretty consistently respects women doesn't stop him from treating men and women differently y'know?#the fact that his bantering with hardison expresses affection and gets quite soft over time#doesn't stop him from pushing hardison away on a semi-regular basis. often physically.#the fact that the fandom unanimously decided he's an utter gentleman in matters of dating#doesn't quite negate the time he physically stopped aimee from getting away when he wanted to talk to her#though that's one I might disregard because it's so early and I think they hadn't quite figured out the characters then#and it was admittedly a brief moment followed by very consensual happenings#perhaps. honestly. eliot may be reflecting the attitudes of the show here.#which were very progressive for the time and are still startling on several fronts now but also showing definite signs of age#arguably fanon eliot (as I understand him) is eliot adjusted for inflation. as it were.#there's a lot going on here I'm having a normal amount of thoughts about it I'm. stopping now

These two are so funny. Women's wrongs standoff
#paranormasight#paranormasight spoilers#ayame tono#harue shigima#paranormasight the seven mysteries of honjo#harue's 'last resort' is probably one of my favorite sequences in this game i think#i loveeee how the shigima and tsutsumi/tono families foil each other#and how harue and ayame are two women in very similar yet different circumstances#it's also so funny how richter just. quietly watches these two try to almost kill each other. king of minding his own business#(i know it's more complex than that ofc but it's still funny)#autumnal rambles#i've said it before but the main cast in this game is truly so great#i really do want to talk more about harue and ayame in more detail some other time because. man. these two#they’re both super interesting on their own and seeing how their desires collide here. delicious#i adore them both. hashtag womens wrongs

yeah yeah we all love the "you fuck her" scene because the mom is right on the money sorta, but is it just me or is it also kinda fucked up?
isn't it fucked up that she thinks the only way andrew, ashley's whole ass brother who essentially had to raise her himself, would stay by her side, would be if he got to bang her?
isn't it fucked up that she thinks the only way ashley could possibly have value to someone would be tied to her body?
doesn't it a hit a bit close home to anybody who had one of those moms who kept policing your appearance and general behavior because "men won't want you if you do this and that"?
ashley deserved to eat her parents. as a treat.
#the coffin of andy and leyley#i saw a few people here and there diminishing coffincest because it's straight#and like. fair. preferences#but i think the gender roles in their relationship are actually very interesting to analyze#even if they're not in the spotlight you can see it#on how ashley is the one who cooks and cleans while we often see andrew sitting down checking the news#and how that routine affects their dynamic#even to the way ashley was treated as a kid#suspiciously similar to how neurodivergent girls are treated#and considering most of the trauma comes from the mother it adds a spice to their mother-daughter dynamic#because like. i think so many people fail to acknowledge a lot of the misogyny faced by little girls comes from women and other girls#i just. think about ashley and her experiences a lot.#i should stop rambling before i write the first draft of an essay or smth
