Picking up an old story that I used to love and realizing how utterly problematic it is is always just heartbreaking
#personal#its a fic but even so it came out honestly not that long ago?#it could be argued that because the cast is mostly teenaged boys the homophobia is sort of expected#or at least i shouldn't be surprised but#idk just because it happens doesnt mean its necessary for Your Story#its just worse hearing it from the mindset of the main#who im supposed to sympathize with#but the thing about interlized homophobia its not the subject of the plot thats going to be challenged#and given growth#its just going to be there at all times#gah#i think it didnt bother me as much before because i lived with guys who thought that way#despite those same guys being friends with queer folk
