You soon come to realize that the sky isn’t dark because it’s nighttime - it’s dark because there is no sun at all. The only light in this empty void comes from what remains of a burning log on a dwarven pedestal, the faintest orange glow in this black abyss. You don’t know how you know this, but you know that it should be roaring, and it’s deeply unsettling that it isn’t. You extend your hand towards it to feel what remains of its warmth, and one of the few remaining embers burns out and disappears into the dark.

One of my players recently died in a boss battle and got revivified, but last session the party found out that she technically counts as undead now. They’re currently debating whether or not they should tell her, but after one hell of a nightmare she’s starting to figure it out for herself.
