I couldn’t get my hair to do anything I wanted it to do today. This is probably because I went to sleep with it wet and inside my hoodie. Not a great plan and I ended up with floofy hair. It’s fine. Was just a little annoying. Today was long but thankfully I washy as tired as yesterday. I went to be fairly early last night. But I got woken up around 230 because Jess was having a crisis. So I stayed up for a while talking to her and then went back to sleep until 630. I didn’t want to get up but mostly because it was cold and my bed is warm. This is probably going to be a continual problem this year. I’ll have to come up with a solution. Probably wearing a robe or something. Getting a cuter house coat. I’ll figure it out. I made egg sandwiches for myself and did yoga. Which helped a lot with my shoulder pain. The bus was a few minutes early but I got there with plenty of time. On the bus the emergency exit window kept flying open when we took turns and it was very scary! I didn’t know how to fix it but I let the driver know when I was getting off. Glad it didn’t hurt anyone. I got it on video and it opened so much! I got to work a little early. I had my sandwich and got ready for the day. Worked on some cleaning. We were going to a pick up around 930 so me and Laura and Norm from the ers side got ready. He drove. I sat in the middle seat but it was just a short ride so it was whatever. We talked about how Norm is from baltimore and whats different around the country and foods and such. We also talked about all the drama at work. People quiting and getting suspended and stuff. Hopefully it all settles out soon. I’m glad I’m not a part of it that would stress me out so bad. We got to the site and it was wild. Like it was a huge huge fire at a recycling plant. I’ve never seen anything like it. I wish we were allowed to explore the burned out part a little more but it was fascinating to see. We had a lot of art to handled. About 70 pieces. A lot of Rothko style paintings and knicknacks and maps. Some real art! We were a pretty good group working together though. We met the adjuster who was a pretty interesting guy and told us about the fire and the insurance side of things. But mostly we just worked for like 3 hours on this project. We took all the big stuff down first. That took a lot of brain power and just regular muscling. We found some bullets in the office?? The whole place had no power and was a bit creepy. Once we got all the big stuff down to the truck I went through and pulled all the small stuff into the halls so we could quickly pack it up. Norm helped at this point since he was done with his stuff. They grabbed all the medium sized art while I packed up all the small things. Like awards and globes and a alligator head. Real neat stuff. We took a break in there somewhere and Norm played us some stand-up on his phone and while it was pretty cold, it was a beautiful day and I enjoyed seeing the site. I hope that their insurance is better then the guy thinks and they’re able to get their business back on track. They seem like nice people from their objects. That’s a weird thing I’ve noticed more and more. I’m building stories about people based on their objects, what’s important to them, and just really humanizing them from afar. Its fun and a good way to pass the time but I also think it helps me be better at my job. Makes me care more about the stuff and take more time with things. I almost fell down the stairs and that scared me so for the last few minutes I went and sat in the truck. It was nice and warm in there. And soon enough we were heading back to the shop. We had lunch and rested before we unloaded everything. I got everything out of the packaging and into the big drying room. Laura made a joke about me being fast like a cat. Which made me think of my friend Suyao because she used to say the same thing. And now I’m nostalgic for minnesota. I have to send some emails soon because I’m missing people pretty bad. The rest of the day went pretty quickly. Texting my brother to tell him that thanksgiving is mandatory and feeling a little upset when he didn’t just say he would be there. I mean like we talked about it in September when we realized it was my first one home in years and how I was excited and he seemed excited and I just felt really let down. I hope he comes and cooks with me like he had said he would. Mostly I listened to podcasts. Complained about my lack of music in my phone. I worked on some mom art. Which is what I’m calling silly things with inspirational phrases on it. And soon enough it was time to go home. The sky was beautiful when I left work. And then 2 buses went by just to far for me to catch but the next bus wadny to far behind. They really need to work on getting their buses on time here. They always seem to have one on time and the next one way to early so there are 2 buses right next to each other. It’s stupid. Buses should never be early. If it’s running early it should pull over. Thats what they do in Minneapolis and it makes everything better. At least I got back to my neighborhood around 530. I had $6 in bonus bucks at CVS so I walked there and got soda and headed home. I had dinner and chilled with Sweetp and then worked in my studio for about 2 hours. I painted my birds with India ink. It’s transparent so I’m hoping you’ll see some of the other colors under. It worked on the flowers very well. And then I spent a lot of time cutting out for my collages. I’m excited to get to work on those. I need to get a big piece of foamcore or something to mount it on. But for now I’m just sorting and getting ready to put it together. Making a plan. Sweetp was funny though sitting in my scrap box and keeping my company. I have my little space heater down there so it’s very nice and cozy. Makes me actually want to keep working. But I really need to get a shower and go to sleep. Its been a long day.
