I have FINALLY gotten around to doing this ask, and as I’d had this in my drafts for ages I thought why not make it an eleventh-hour post for Kinktober too? I would have done more for Kinktober but, like our favourite old faithful that hasn’t been charged in a while, my smut battery was firmly depleted for quite some time.

This doesn’t follow any specific Kinktober prompt, but what the hell, hopefully you all enjoy this little tale of poor Ominis being utterly humiliated and thoroughly fucked.

Synopsis – After a multitude of experimental potions and a variety of undesirable effects, no one at Hogwarts wants to be a guineapig for Garreth’s new brews. In desperation, Garreth resorts to underhanded methods in order to test his newest concoction, and slips it into Ominis’ tea. Unfortunately for the poor Heir of Slytherin, the effects are both humiliating and unconquerable until the woman he’s secretly been in love with for the last two years offers to help put the proverbial basilisk back to sleep.

Happy Kinktober.

Springtime at Hogwarts was a time for most students to pretend they were studying, as they instead dreamt about who they were going to ask on a date to Hogsmeade for Valentines, gossiped about the latest scandals, or got hyped for Quidditch. For the seventh years, it was a time to begin to panic about their upcoming exams and pretend they weren’t.

For Garreth Weasley, it was more a struggle than for most. Since the end of sixth year, when he’d convinced Lucan Brattleby to try his latest potion, and the poor lad had ended up in the Hospital Wing with scales, feathers, and the ability to burp luminous, sausage-like bubbles that took days to pop, the entirety of Gryffindor House had put a blanket ban on accepting so much as a biscuit from him. The other houses learned very quickly after this that no matter how much gold he offered, no matter how many favours, no matter how much he begged, it just wasn’t worth spending a week in hospital for.

But Garreth knew the only way to discover ✨The Perfect Potion™✨ was to practice, practice, practice, and in order to make sure his experiments actually achieved what he thought they should, he needed to test them. He always made sure he had a few poison antidotes on hand just in case, so he wasn’t entirely sure what all the fuss was about.

So it was that Sebastian and Ominis found themselves accosted by the boisterous redhead one early February morning in their seventh year, in the Defence Against the Dark Arts Tower.

“Seriously, Sallow, I’ll pay you fifty galleons. Fifty! Think what you could do with that money!”

“Fuck off,” came the terse reply. “I said no eight times already, I’m not going to change my mind.”

“But if I can get this to work ahead of Valentines-”

“Unclog your ears, Weasley, he said no,” Ominis said, using his wand to pour a cup of tea with the cool indifference only a Slytherin pureblood seemed able to master.

Garreth narrowed his eyes. “I’d have thought you’d jump at the chance, Gaunt. Heard your family’s fallen on hard times.”

“It’s no secret,” Ominis said, supremely unbothered. Then, a tiny smirk touched his lips. “That said, I’m surprised you’ve got fifty galleons to offer in your entire family’s account.”

Unlike Ominis, Garreth was just a little bit touchy about his family’s fortunes. He needed to make this potion work ahead of Valentine’s so he could sell it for a huge profit! It would be so popular and he’d be rich and famous and would be able to make sure all his family were comfortable, what was so wrong about that?

Perhaps this was why Garreth decided to do what he did. Maybe he was just in a bad mood and wanted to cause a bit of trouble. Or maybe, just maybe, he was having withdrawals from seeing his potions at work and was determined to do anything to get his creation tested. He pretended to see Peeves causing havoc on the other side of the Tower, and when Sebastian turned to look, he upended the tiny, pink potion into Ominis’ tea.

He shared a grin with Leander, and groped for a notepad as Ominis picked up his cup.

“Alright, fine, suit yourselves. But it would have made an absolute killing, and I’d have given you commission for your help,” he said, trying to be nonchalant.

“Whatever.” Sebastian rolled his eyes. “I’ve enough to be worrying about without dealing with beetles falling out of my ears, thanks.”

Ominis shook his head and sipped his tea, closing his eyes at the warmth that slid past his lips and down his throat. He let his mind wander a little, and as it always did when he let it have some form of free reign, it landed squarely on the most incredible woman he’d ever known, the Hero of Hogwarts, for whom he had harboured a secret, burning love since their ill-fated trip to the Scriptorium.

A slim line appeared between his brows as the warmth from the tea seemed to settle under his collar, before spreading over his chest, creeping down his torso to pool between his thighs, and something began to stir.

Ominis, like any other man of his age, was no stranger to random bouts of wilful disobedience from his personal basilisk, and so he elected to ignore it, crossing an elegant leg over the other, hoping no one else had noticed. He took a slow breath and another drink, wondering vaguely why this particular standing to attention was coupled with something that felt concerningly like arousal. Yes, thinking of her certainly fired him up him like nothing else did, but he hadn’t been thinking of anything particularly ungentlemanly. He was in public, after all.

His hands tightened on his cup as the unspecified heat began to intensify, his half-mast blooming full, and as he heard Garreth leaning forward in his chair, and the scratch of quill on parchment, he began to put two and two together.

Uh-oh.

“Soooo…” Garreth said, in a voice so overly casual that it sent a thrill of fear through anyone in the vicinity that had recently had a drink. “How are we all feeling today? Normal? Bit hot under the collar? Thinking of anyone in particular?”

Ominis faced him, quite certain that steam might be curling up from under his shirt as his heart began to pound.

“What have you done?” he managed.

Garreth laughed. “Only what I had to. Don’t worry, the effects won’t last more than a few hours. I think.”

There was a clatter as Sebastian lunged across the low table, followed by a smash as the teapot shattered. Garreth yelped as Sebastian gripped handfuls of his robes and wrenched him out of his seat.

“What did you do?” he demanded, snarling.

“I needed to test my potion,” Garreth said, shoving him back. “Just slipped him a bit, that’s all!”

“What the fuck do you mean, you slipped him a bit!?” Sebastian barked. “What the hell is it meant to do?”

“I’m not sure yet, that’s why I needed to test it,” Garreth said, proudly. “It’s only a variant of a love potion that’s meant to make anyone you like want you in bed, nothing to worry about. Gaunt, tell me exactly what you’re feeling, spare no detail.”

“Are you insane?” Ominis hissed, hunching forward as his arousal twitched, nudging insistently against his belt and threatening to pop right out over the top of his waistband. “You better have an antidote for this, you cretin!”

Garreth gulped and edged behind Leander as Sebastian drew his wand, aiming it at his nethers. “Antidote? It’s only in the testing stages, I’ve not had time to-” he yelped as Sebastian fired a curse at him, and Leander had to put out a small fire on his robes.

Ominis felt his cheeks sear as another thrum of unspecified interest surged through him, his mouth drying. There was an insistent, needy ache growing in his lower abdomen, and he got the feeling that if he didn’t take care of it soon, he was going to be in serious trouble. It didn’t help that he could sense his friends staring at him, Garreth’s lack of subtlety and his shortening breath all but confirming the state he was in.

“Undercroft,” he managed to growl to Sebastian out of the corner of his mouth. “Don’t follow me.”

“You okay?” Sebastian asked, as Ominis tugged his robes tight about himself and rose.

“I’ll be fine,” he muttered, trying to stand as casually as he could without revealing his significantly growing problem. “Do try not to kill that little bastard while I’m gone, I’d like to do it myself.”

The cool of the Undercroft’s stone walls did little to alleviate the heat in his body as Ominis shouldered his way through the hidden entrance, his pace increasing as he half ran towards a stack of crates at the back, positioned deliberately to hide a pile of cushions and blankets for the rare instances when he just couldn’t ignore his body’s needs. Ominis hissed between his teeth and turned his wand about the Undercroft, hoping that she wasn’t down here. Merlin, he’d never live it down if she saw him like this.

Hell, it was embarrassing enough to be in this predicament, but for his friends to know as well! The thought scalded him, making him cringe. It was worse that they knew why he’d gone off by himself. Yes, everybody did it, but that didn’t mean everyone should bloody know about it when he did! It was hard enough to find alone time as it was, but for anyone else to know… Ominis groaned. With the way gossip spread, the whole bloody castle would know that the infamously stoic Ominis Gaunt had needed to dash off and have a wank by the time he reemerged, if his past luck was anything to go by.

No matter. The state he was in, it wouldn’t take long, and then he could try and forget about the whole, sordid mess. After he’d murdered Garreth, of course.

He sucked a sharp breath between his teeth, bracing a hand against the wall as his mind flooded with thoughts of her, as it always did when he needed to attend to himself. He focused on the faint brush of her hand against the back of his when they studied together, her fingertips cool as she handed him a book or stack of parchment, each light touch sending sparks through his skin that never failed to stiffen his cock. He whimpered softly as he recalled those few times he let her embrace him, his attention always zeroing in on how her ample breasts pressed against his chest, his hands resting just above the curve of her hip. What he wouldn’t give to feel these things without the cursed barrier of her clothes…

And Merlin, the sound of her voice, low and rich, some sultry note always winding about underneath it, as if she was but a moment away from singing or whispering nothing but sinful filth into his ear, her dark chuckles, the freedom of her laughter never failing to set his heart to racing.

Then the scent of her hair… citrus and exotic blossoms from some far off, sun-drenched land infused his mind as he wished and wished he knew what it was like to have those silken strands fall over his face as she rode him.

Ominis fought with his belt and the fastenings of his trousers, unable to stop thinking about her, imagining all those things she could do to him that would only ever be in his mind. She was too good for him, too perfect, too glorious, but it never hurt to imagine. Imagination never hurt anyone. His lower lip found its way between his teeth as he took himself in his hand, instinctively setting up a rapid pace that, when he’d been this worked up before, had brought him blissful relief in little under a minute.

But something was wrong. He could feel his hand sliding along his length, feel the pressure as he tightened his grip, but it brought him about as much relief as sticking it in a jar of numbing potion would have.

“Oh, come on,” Ominis hissed, gripping himself tighter in a vain effort to evoke some of the promised euphoria such an act usually provided him, even going so far as to spit in his palm, but it didn’t work. To his horror, it served only to heighten his need, and brought him no relief.

Almost an hour later, Ominis emerged, limping and red-faced, his breathing ragged and his hair dishevelled, his cloak pulled tight about his body.

“Well?” Garreth asked, eagerly, quill and notepad at the ready.

“Piss off,” Ominis snarled. “If you can’t get me an antidote in the next five minutes then what good are you?”

Sebastian shouldered Garreth out of the way and leaned in close.

“No better?”

“Fuck off. I don’t want anyone near me.”

“What about New Girl?” Leander piped up, clearly enjoying himself far more than was appropriate for the Slytherin’s suffering. “Bet you wouldn’t mind her being around you right now.”

Ominis spat a string of violent curses in Parseltongue at the thought of the Hero of Hogwarts assisting him with his predicament once again, before he tried to push away the idea as it sent another painful thrum of arousal through him. Unfortunately, the idea of her didn’t want to be banished and remained stubbornly inside his head, doing things no self-respecting woman would ever do, let alone to him.

“She hasn’t been new for two years,” Sebastian said, placing his foot firmly on Leander’s hip and shoving him away as Ominis clung to the wall, biting his tongue to stop himself groaning. “If you’re not going to help, then sod off.” He gripped Ominis’ shoulder, leaning close, and Ominis wriggled away, hissing as his skin tingled. “Mate, maybe he’s got a point. She’s good at potions, maybe she could do something about this? Plus, you like her, and she likes-”

“Never,” Ominis growled. “She can never hear of this.”

“Okay, then maybe we should get Professor Sharp, he’d be able to-”

“If you breathe a word of this to anyone I will kill you myself!” Ominis snarled.

It was getting decidedly hard to think, and Ominis huddled against the wall, bent almost in two as wave upon wave of rising need threw itself about his insides. If he didn’t do something soon, he was either going to explode or go completely insane. It was all he could do not to grab at himself, despite the fact that he was in public and he knew that it wouldn’t help one bit.

Sebastian shared a worried look with Garreth, whose eagerness to see the effects of his potion in action had worn off upon seeing how decidedly uncomfortable Ominis was. Yeah, it had been kind of funny to see him so embarrassed, but this was a problem. How could he sell his potion if the effects were this drastic, and didn’t wear off quickly?

“Maybe just… I don’t know, try and sleep it off?” Sebastian suggested, rubbing the back of his neck. “I’m sorry mate, I don’t know how else to help you.”

“I know a way you can,” Leander laughed, and quickly shut up as both Sebastian and Ominis glared at him, drawing their wands.

“Go up to the Room of Requirement,” Sebastian said, giving Ominis a little shove between the shoulder blades that made him yelp. “Garreth, you go too, there’s potion stations up there, and you better get to work on an antidote, or I’ll hang you off the Astronomy Tower by your balls.”

With a barely restrained whine, Ominis disillusioned himself and all but ran for the stairs, the outline of his figure vanishing as he rounded the bend. Garreth took one look at Sebastian’s murderous expression and followed, jotting notes on his parchment as he went. No sooner had he vanished than Sebastian took off, pelting through the castle, seeking the one person he hoped might be able to put an end to his brother’s suffering.

“How long’s he been like this?” she asked, matching Sebastian’s pace as they hurtled towards the Room of Requirement.

“A bit more than an hour or so, I think,” Sebastian panted, struggling to keep up. “It’s really bad.”

She cursed under her breath, her long, dark hair swishing to and fro. “What did Garreth say it was meant to do?”

“Turn people on so they’re easier to get into bed,” Sebastian replied, glowering. “Or words to that effect. He wants to sell it ahead of Valentine’s Day.”

She made a face, her small nose wrinkling. “Creep. As if it wasn’t bad enough having to worry about love potions. Poor Ominis.” They slowed as they reached the seventh-floor corridor, and she glanced at him. “I presume he’s… um… tried the usual methods?”

Sebastian shrugged. “I guess so. Didn’t ask, he’s embarrassed enough. He’s going to kill me when he finds out I’ve told you.”

“Me in particular?” she raised a brow, and Sebastian hesitated. It wasn’t a secret to those who knew him well that Ominis was madly in love with the woman before him, but he hadn’t thought she’d figured it out. His silence seemed to be all the answer she needed, and a little smile touched her lips. “Leave it to me. He’ll be right as rain soon enough.”

“What are you going to-” Sebastian began, but she’d vanished into the Room of Requirement before he could finish. With a low sigh, he crossed his fingers, counted to ten, then followed, finding the large space mostly empty, save for a sweaty Garreth standing before a table of five cauldrons, each of them hissing different coloured steam. His nose was bleeding.

“What happened there?” Sebastian asked, and Garreth glowered.

“That cow just punched me,” he said, thickly. “Didn’t say a damn word and ran off to the bedroom.”

Sebastian grinned. “Can’t say you didn’t deserve it.”

Garreth wiped his nose on his sleeve. “Shut up and help me with these, would you? Whatever she’s planning, I hope it works, because none of these antidotes look promising right now.”

Ominis twisted and writhed, his breath coming in short, sharp gasps. His clothes lay discarded on the floor of the small room, the light satin sheets of the bed dragging across his fevered skin as he desperately sought some form of relief from the blazing need surging through his body. But no matter how much he rutted against the mattress, no matter how fervently he beat himself, he couldn’t break through the barrier between desperate desire and the enduring numbness that denied him, over and over.

He couldn’t say how much time had passed. He couldn’t say how long he’d been tangled in these sheets, moaning softly as he chased a high that tormented him as it danced away, again and again. His mind was fragmented, consumed by a primal, visceral need for relief, for this aching agony to end, for the heavens to open and just please let him come.

So scattered was he that he barely registered the door opening, the footsteps hushing over the carpet as he gripped handfuls of his hair, curled in a ball on his side. But he heard the sharp intake of breath, smelled that torturously familiar scent that was so deliciously her, and his tormented mind took on a crystal clarity as pure, unadulterated panic flashed through him.

“No, no!” he gasped. “No, not you!”

She pulled up short, her brows drawing together a little as Ominis struggled to pull the fraying threads of his brain back together.

“I-I’m sorry… I didn’t mean…” he whimpered softly as another agonising pang of need surged through him, intensified by the fact that it was her standing there, and he curled up tighter, his hands tensing in his hair, trying to hide his shamed face as he tried to burrow under the sheets. “I… I don’t want you to see me like this.”

She was concerningly quiet for a moment, then her footsteps sounded once more as she approached, and Ominis bit down on a high-pitched whine as she settled on the bed, her weight pulling the sheets tight against his skin. He fought not to writhe, every nerve ending on fire as he curled up tighter.

“Please… please leave,” he begged. “I-I c-can’t…”

“This needs to be fixed,” she said, her voice low and soothing. “Ominis, you can’t go on like this. I want to help you.”

“Then get me a fucking antidote,” he spat, his limbs trembling as he fought to remain still. He didn’t care that he swore in front of her, something he vowed never to do in front of a lady, he was too concerned with retaining some miniscule shred of dignity. Shame and humiliation burned a torturous path through his body as he bit down on another low whine, his cock throbbing at the thought of her being so close to him, her beautiful scent, her delicious voice sending waves of primal desire through him.

She couldn’t be here. She had to leave, or he was going to do something they would both regret.

It seemed she either couldn’t sense the danger, however, or she didn’t care. She slid closer to him, a cool hand finding his shoulder, such a simple touch making his hair stand on end as he fought with himself not to grab at her. He had to maintain control, no matter how difficult. He was a gentleman, he was proper, he wasn’t one of those base louts that thought with their dicks and followed wherever they pointed, he was… he was…

Fucking hell. He was desperate for her.

Her hand tightened on his shoulder, pushing lightly, and little by little he uncurled enough to reveal his face, his skin flushed, his hair sticking to his forehead.

“You poor thing,” she murmured. “Will you let me help you?”

Her hand slid over his shoulder to his chest, and Ominis bit down on a whine. How often had he tormented himself with fantasies of this exact thing happening? It almost made him want to weep with the frustration of it all, because he knew all too well that nothing would come of this but further humiliation.

“P-please… don’t,” he whimpered as she peeled the sheets back, moving closer to him as she trailed her fingers over his stomach, the muscles contracting at her touch. “It won’t… it won’t d-do anything… I c-can’t feel-”

His next words were cut off by a yelp as the heel of her hand grazed the aching head of his length through the sheets, sending a surge of pleasure so powerful through him that it snapped his head back.

He could feel her touch.

His hands flew out, one latching onto her wrist, the other winding into her hair. She came to him willingly, her lips brushing his hesitantly for a heartbeat before he crushed his mouth to hers, moaning helplessly as she found his aching steel through the sheets, her palm curving around the shape of him.

Ominis launched up, hooking an arm around her neck, his free hand shoving at the covers. There was no longer room for hesitancy or fear or embarrassment – any last shred of lingering dignity had been eviscerated by her kiss.

All Ominis knew is that he needed to be held, to be kissed, to be touched, and to be fucked. Right. Now.

He shoved at the sheets covering him as her lips moved from his to lavish attention on the side of his neck, her hand travelling down his chest sparking through his nerves. A high, desperate whine escaped him when she showed no hesitation and wrapped her hand around his fevered length, the soothing cool of her skin a balm to his burning flesh.

Even through his maddening haze of desperation and need, Ominis was dimly aware of the inexplicable skill she displayed, each swift, twisting stroke of her hand designed by some omniscient power, it seemed, so perfectly did it make his body sing. Her pace was steady, her grip firm but not tight, and his mind went to pieces. In all his furtive, shameful imaginings of being with her at last, he had never once suspected that she would know just how perfectly to treat him.

She murmured gentle encouragement to him, her words a song of sin and fire as her touch sent him ever higher on a glittering ladder that seemed heaven bound. Ominis bucked helplessly against her, his hands alternately clutching and tugging at her clothes, knowing in some deep, primal way that the simple touch of her hand, no matter how glorious, would never be enough.

It seemed she understood this as well, for her lips left his neck, trailing down his body, each press of her lips tensing the muscles they touched. Something in the back of his mind set up a wild protest, the part of him that was still human underneath his frantic desire screaming that he would never live this down, but even this stubborn part of him was silenced when a searing heat enveloped him from head to base, hard at the edges and so deliciously soft in the centre, something long and dexterous winding about his entire length.

The sensation of her mouth on him in such a way pushed a yell that was almost a scream from deep within his lungs, flying up his throat so harshly that it roughed the edges of his voice, his hands flew to her head, winding his fingers into her hair and driving himself as deep as he could. He didn’t care that he might choke her, that he might make her wretch, he just needed more of that sensation, more of this heavenly feeling of pure euphoria.

She didn’t choke, and she didn’t retch. She tightened her lips, hollowing her cheeks and sucking hard, her throat closing over the tip of him as he threw his head back, yelping in wordless ecstasy. Her arms wound around his waist as his legs fell apart, anchoring them together as her head bobbed at a steady, rapid pace, and if Ominis had the gift of sight, he would have seen the entire cosmos.

"Fuck... yes..." Ominis gasped. "Right there... don't stop, please don't stop..."

And yet it still wasn’t enough. Though each swipe of her tongue drew a whining moan from his lips like silver thread, the pulsing of her throat in time with his racing heart, his body stubbornly refused to fall over the edge upon which he teetered. Almost rabid, Ominis gripped he hair, pulling her back up to crush his lips to hers, tugging at her clothes so forcefully that her blouse tore.

In response, she pinned his wrists over his head. He had no time to protest this as she straddled him in the next moment, leaning down to capture his lips with hers once more, holding him tight with one hand as the other slid down, grasping him firmly and angling him up.

Ominis could never have imagined the euphoria that he experienced next. One moment, he was aching, spit-slick and cool in the empty air, and the next he was enveloped in searing satin and silken fire. If her mouth had been the cosmos, this was heaven itself. He could barely draw breath to moan as she seated him fully inside her, and even through his primal haze, he couldn’t believe it, couldn’t understand it, that he, Ominis Gaunt, was being loved by her.

He thrust up with abandon, garbled pleas and frenzied, worshipful praise flowing from his mouth between urgent kisses, his hands held firmly above his head as she rode him like a graphorn. Her hair swung down, the silken tresses brushing over his face and chest like he’d always dreamed of. He began to feel a delicious, prickling heat pooling at the base of his spine, in the pit of his stomach, his skin tingling as he ran full pelt towards the edge. Something within him knew he needed to savour this, to commit each and every detail to memory as she herself released a soft, breathy moan, but that single sound, the knowledge that came with it being that he was making her feel good was too much for him.

"Fuck... fuck... FUCK! YES! YES!"

The spell was broken, the potion overcome as Ominis’ entire body went taught, his balls drawing up tight as he finally, finally came like a fucking hose. His head snapped back, his moans rising to echoing yelps as his back arched, his hands pinioned above his head as he writhed, the sensation so much more intense than anything he had ever experienced before, going on and on and on until he was certain he might go mad. But end it did, and he fell back, utterly boneless and exhausted, his breath trembling as his body quivered, the warm weight of her comforting as she settled to lie atop him, her lips soothing once more at his neck.

“Are you alright?” she asked, after some small time had passed. Ominis could only mumble non-words, his mind still scattered, his not quite feeling his body as he should now that there was this sudden absence of primal need. Little by little, the last few hours came back to him, and he felt his chest grow tight. Wincing as fresh shame burned a path through him, Ominis turned his face away.

“I-I’m so sorry,” he managed, his voice cracking. “Y-you shouldn’t have… my behaviour… I never should…”

“Hush,” she brushed his hair back, pressing a delicate kiss to his temple. “I was happy to, Ominis.” She pulled him closer, a hand at the back of his head, and he curled into her automatically, burying his face in the crook of her neck. The lingering ache in his body melded with his utter humiliation, contrasting bizarrely with a feeling of purest bliss. He held onto it, onto her, knowing that once she left this bed, this room, she’d never want to speak to him again. She had helped him, yes, but that was what she did. It wasn’t because she liked him. How could anyone like someone as depraved as him?

As if she could read his thoughts, she gave him a little squeeze, her lips brushing his ear.

“You know, I’d be happy to do this again,” she murmured, and he felt her lips stretch into a smile against his skin as his heart leapt. “With you, and only you. Only… let’s leave the experimental potions out of it next time, hm?”

Ominis was only too happy to agree.

I remember one of the first things I did when Supriya aged up into a teen was to have her take selfies. Because not only is that someting a pride generation heir would do, but at the time I also thought she was one of the prettiest teens in my game ever.

Februari

I decided to fully furnish and decorate an apartment for Supriya to live in and I think this is when I realized that I'm 100% a maximalist when it comes to interior design.

March

Ah, the night of the gala where Supriya and Rohan finally let their walls down 😊. I based the the outfits and the location of the gala (before they got back to Supriya's apartment) on the gala scene from the movie Maid in Manhattan which was a movie I really liked as a kid and for some reason that gala scene imprinted itself in my brain.

April

I love a good sunset. But what I love more is Rohan and Supriya getting engaged in front of a good sunset. The couple moved to Brindleton Bay where they fell even more in love with each other, and I fell in love with the Brindleton Bay heatwaves (when it doesn't rain that is). Rohan and Supriya eventually got married and it was my first cultural in-game wedding and, you guessed it, I loved it.

May

A pregnancy photoshoot with Supriya and Rohan in that little park with the blossom trees in Lykke Centre, Windenburg. The other screenshot is a screenshot with Cedia as a siren that I never posted in the Halloween post of last year, so I decided to make another post this year with the screenshots I also loved and that didn't make the cut back then.

June

I was still experimenting with my decorating skills and I had a lot of fun decorating the kids' playroom and Gulshan's bedroom when they were little.

July

I did an "end-of-generation" photoshoot with Supriya and also made one of my oc's, Fawzia, for Thebramblewood's vampire casting call who until then had only existed in my head. And for my legacy I wanted to try something different with the lighting in the screenshots where Gulshan and his friends are partying and I really liked how it turned out.

August

Gulshan got his restaurant and I love everything about it. I started building this restaurant when I started the 7 sins legacy and I was so excited when I could finally play in it.

I took this screenshot after Gulshan earned 4 stars for his restaurant. I posed everyone except for Lord Hamlet. He just walked past and it turned out perfect for this screenshot. Did I mention Lord Hamlet already? BECAUSE LOOK AT HIM! At first I wasn't sure how a pig who is actually a dog would work out in game, but he is my favorite in-game pet ever and I love him so much. The last screenshot I made to showcase the Poppy cas set by Surely-sims and Ice-creamforbreakfast and all the screenshots for this are some of my favorite lookbook screenshots ever.

January:

I was a busy little bee in January! Not surprising, as I tend to hermit at home in the deep winter and do nothing but watch dramas and post too much. JQL Corner became my big project of the year, and I can't believe there wasn't a single week that I didn't have Japanese QL to talk about. I Became the Main and Gyeongseong were both surprise delights that ended up among my favs of the year. I’m still holding my LT grudge, in case anyone had any doubt.

The original run for the LITBC book club that @bengiyo and I led! What a great time reading a fantastic book, chatting with besties, and making new friends. I also stand by that praise for DFF's mystery arc--that was the strongest part of the show; the things I took issue with were elsewhere in the story. I have just been thinking I need to rewatch LFLS and this post reminds me why (I remember when it first ended me and @wen-kexing-apologist were like, we're going to watch it again immediately! And then realized we were in no way emotionally prepared for that LMAO). Cooking Crush remains a fav and I may or may not be rewatching right now.

Wow, three of my very favorite shows of the year all happening at once. What a blessed month this was. Also, this is not a specific post, but this is the month when I read Da Ge and then spent weeks with people coming into my DMs to get their own copy of the translation, which was a top fandom experience for me because I met a bunch of new people, some of whom stuck around to talk about Unknown, and it made me feel like an illicit dealer which was very fun.

weekly recap: week 01 [30.12.24-05.01.25]

i decided to start doing weekly recaps as a way to keep myself accountable not only with language learning but with all my studying in general. So, peep my new rug and Pikku Myy cup, as well as the moomin calendar i got for christmas! let's see:

studying

Finnish

As I said in my last Finnish update, I hadn't been doing much this past weeks. I've restarted again, but I'm aware this two months are not gonna be the best, since I need to focus in all my tests happening in February. Still, I wanna try and find time for it everyday, even if its just couple minutes.

I'll add the tracker of what I did this week (only started counting the 1st tho) but yeah managed to get a session of active studying and one of writing besides my immersion. I'll continue my lessons next week so looking forward to that.

My degree

To be honest I don't normally have to spend much time with this. I only have three subjects this year, and since I'm studying online and have no classes I don't need to do much during the year. The only stressful times are when I have to turn in papers and exams. This being said, I do need to turn in papers next two weeks, and I have my midterms at the start of February, so I am indeed stressed :D

I started revising the content for one of the subject's paper, which is already something. I usually get decently good grades without much stress since its the second degree im doing in the topic and almost everything sounds familiar already, but last two papers with this teacher didn't go that well (imo bc of her way aka inexisting way of explaining the papers) so im kinda pissed off :D

I didn't need good grades in this degree since its kinda useless having already my previous one, but since there's the possibility of going in erasmus again i want good grades to hopefully get into the program again. Soo, this next weeks I gotta grind and start doing the papers as well as start working on the units.

Hygieniapassi test

New addition! Since my plan is to move to Finland hopefully this year (still don't know how or when but we're getting there) and getting a job of my area (media production) is impossible without experience anywhere, I'd need to get a regular no studies entry level job and I thought I could make things easier for myself and get it before the move. I'm going there late February, so thats my deadline!

Actually signed up today for the exam. I have been working on the material in the app for the past two weeks ish, I only have two courses left to copy into my notebook (I physically can't retain any info if I don't write it myself) so I'm hoping to finish them before my papers are due! I still have to work on a schedule so I have time for everything, but pretty happy so far.

Christmas rush is coming to an end, but we have an inventory coming soon, which means extra hours and extra stress. Not the most ideal thing with all the studying I have to do, but we'll survive i guess :'D

hobbies & social life

To be honest I don't have much time for hobbies these days, but that's something I wanna change. Went to see Nosferatu with a friend at the start of the week (loved it) and we have another 3 movies lined up for the next weeks (can you tell i love going to the cinema). Also planning couple meet ups with different friend groups, this doesn't happen often since couple of them we don't see eachother in months, but seems like everything's happening at the same time. Stressful, but happy to get to see them!! Also meeting with my bookclub, so gotta finish the book of the month at some point.

Also something I'm super excited about, booked my flights to Finland!! Already mentioned I was going in February but actually having the flights its a life changer when it comes to waiting. Can't wait to be back 😊

it feels weird to finally get a year where I get to say this but I think maybe 2024 actually WAS my year. hopefully not the last, but it really feels like the first, at least in a long time. I was stagnant and static and drifting without much momentum in any direction for quite a while, and then suddenly this year:

I finally moved into a solo apartment and am no longer living in a house with an ever-shifting pool of like 5 roommates. having my own quiet comfy space to cook and relax and be nocturnal without bothering anyone has been HUGE for my mental health

I worked very hard to recoup the money I lost from that move and got myself in a fairly stable and comfortable position again, work-wise

I finally started HRT in June, after about 5 years of waiting/struggling to find a doctor/fear/general motivation issues. which absolutely kicks ass and is probably the highlight of the whole year if I had to pick just one

I also finally got diagnosed with ADHD and (with a little trial and error) got medicated for it, which is another thing I've been trying to sort out for like 6 years. hey did you know executive dysfunction and problems with memory/task management/motivation make it really hard to go through the process of getting treated for the cause of those symptoms? wild huh

I rekindled a much closer relationship with a couple of my younger siblings, especially the elder of my two sisters, and we have really nice chats fairly regularly now (crazy considering we did nothing but fight constantly for like 20 years lol)

I came out fully to my family, for better or worse, and MOST of them have been surprisingly chill and supportive about it

I worked on a little game project with a friend for a couple months! it didn't end up working out but I learned a lot from the experience

I started doing WAY more personal art and kinda rediscovered my passion for it, and as a result I've progressed a lot stylistically and technically within the past few months

I beat Pseudoregalia 94 times since the first time I tried it in February. not really an achievement on the same level as all this other stuff but I'm still proud of it

like idk! there were a lot of rough patches this year and I was honestly pretty burnt out for the first half of it, but 2024 still feels like the year where I bundled up all my frustration about going nowhere with my life and achieving none of my goals and turned it into fuel to just blaze through a bunch of stuff in the back half. I wish I'd done a lot of it sooner, but life has been reminding me a lot lately that it really IS better late than never, so I'm trying to keep that perspective in mind and not let the idea of a ticking clock intimidate me like it used to. I am trying to be optimistic that 2025 will allow me to continue this momentum. we'll see I guess!

idk if I really have any resolutions per se? I guess I'd really like to make music more often in 2025, even if it's just small things I do in one or two sittings occasionally instead of full songs. I started writing a song this year, with lyrics and everything, and then didn't finish putting it together, so at the very least I'd like to make THAT happen soon. In the past two years, he had rarely appeared in variety shows, taking the career of actor as his most important goal at this moment.

In 2023, 3 television dramas starring Xiao Zhan broadcasted, and each character was a challenge for Xiao Zhan. During the interview, Xiao Zhan said many times that he was “under a lot of pressure”, and he said this almost every time when reviewing every stage. “Sunshine By My Side” was a script that Xiao Zhan has been exposed to for the longest time, starting from the end of 2019. 03 Decluttering

Relaxation is a side of Xiao Zhan, he can balance some of the pressure, but there is a part of it that is difficult for him to resolve. Xiao Zhan does not sleep well. “It’s very difficult for me to fall asleep, and I sleep very lightly, there will be situations where I don’t feel rested after sleeping, which affects my state the next day.” This would happen especially when he just joined the drama group and would be in a state of high nervousness, he would often dream about filming on set, but the filming did not go well.

When he would go to different cities, Xiao Zhan would bring the same type of pillows and quilts. “I will bring anything that can help me sleep well.” He had also tried aromatherapy lamps, lavender essential oil, various products that could make him fall asleep when applied on his body, medicinal spray on the pillow that could make people fall asleep, melatonin and meditation music. Xiao Zhan’s acting experience began with a story about “an older commoner chasing dreams in the entertainment industry”. He participated in the talent show at the age of 24, learned dance from scratch, debuted as a boy band, acted in online dramas, played supporting roles in theater movies, until 2019 when he became popular, Xiao Zhan also became a star that attracted attention.

GQ: When did it become clear that you wanted to be an actor? Xiao Zhan: When the public started paying more and more attention to me, I wanted to say, why can’t I do it? I think I can. Sometimes I waver and feel it’s so difficult. Why can’t I do it? For example, when it comes to lines, why are they just not good? Why can’t I speak as well as the others? Is it because I’m from the South? I don’t think so. Then I think, so how can I speak well? I can do it, give it a try.

GQ: In your opinion, what are the professional standards for actors? Xiao Zhan: First of all, having excellent professional skills is an unavoidable topic. You can have a non-professional background, but you must have excellent professional skills. This is what I want to do and what I’m currently doing. I feel like I’m not enough, too far behind. After having excellent professional skills, attitude is very important and whether you love it or not is also very important. If you only view it as a job, you may not be able to go very far. GQ: When acting in which character or drama did you feel recognition for? Xiao Zhan: At the beginning, when I was working on “The Wolf”, I was under a lot of pressure, the acting teacher would give me a lot of advice and guidance, and I would constantly subvert my acting method every day, it was a period of confusion. After you got over it, you would find that you have grown, and when you started acting again later, you would gradually find a little bit of feeling, and then you would get over it step by step, this was a cumulative process. GQ: The 3 dramas broadcasted in 2023 stretched from ancient costume to era dramas and urban dramas, what were the considerations? Xiao Zhan: Actually, there were no considerations, it just happened naturally, there were no deliberate avoidance of themes I had acted in before, it’s just (selection) by reading the script. When the scripts were handed to me at that time, I felt attracted to a certain script at the moment, so I chose it, it just happened to be a theme that I had never acted in before.

02 Becoming an actor

To some extent, Xiao Zhan’s sense of relaxation stems from his increasingly clear goals. The voices from the outside world no longer bothered him. He knew what he wanted and what he didn't want. Now, he is doing more subtraction for himself. In the past two years, he has rarely appeared in variety shows, taking the career of actor as his most important goal at the moment.

In 2023, three film and television dramas starring Xiao Zhan will be broadcast, and each role will be a challenge for Xiao Zhan. During the interview, Xiao Zhan said many times that he was "under a lot of pressure", and he said this almost when reviewing every stage. But his tone is light, without the heaviness of complaints, more like an analysis and summary afterwards. "Sunshine By My Side" is the script that Xiao Zhan has been exposed to for the longest time, starting at the end of 2019. Although Sheng Yang in "Sunshine By My Side" closely overlapped with Xiao Zhan's career before his debut, he had to move his life as a designer to the screen and act in a natural and convincing manner. "Modern dramas and life dramas are really an unfamiliar field." 03 Breaking away

It's my dad's birthday today. He would have been 85. Last year me, my bro and my dad went out for Indian food for his birthday. None of us thought he'd be dead in about a month. Then end of February, it'll be a year since he passed.

There's a lot I can share about my dad. He was born during the height of WWII. He was a Vietnam vet, having even earned a pretty prominent award for his services (he rarely talked much about his time in the army, I never asked. I have various military family members and there's just... you don't ask them about some things. You just don't.) He was a traveler, having been around the world numerous times, and I was fortunate enough to get to travel with him in his twilight years, getting to see places I never thought I really would, that they were just pipe dreams. He was a sailor, a writer, loved animals and has had numerous pets and of course a parent, but not just to me, but to my brothers whom never really had much of a positive father figure in their lives until him.

Growing up, I admittedly had a disconnect with my dad which with adult hindsight, I think was our undiagnosed autisms clashing (that and he was old to be a dad). I didn't hate him, but I didn't get along with him like I could have. Thank fuck he recognized that I was just a kid/bratty teen at times and didn't hold anything personally.

When my mom died not long after I finished high school I knew I had a choice to make. I could continue to shun my dad like some lil shit when he had done NOTHING wrong and his worst crime was being... a little quirky autistic dude, or get over myself and try to form a proper relationship with him. I chose the latter.

My dad helped me with numerous things in the last decade. Getting to be on my own and my own place, managing money, helping me with rent here and there so I wouldn't wind up on the streets. He also helped with me with... many, many other loved ones that passed in that time, some he shouldn't have had to outlive himself either.

As I mentioned earlier, I was lucky to get to travel with him. I had some funds to be able to do so, and a few years ago he mentioned wanting to see Japan again. He had seen the country in like... 50 years ha ha. I had been wanting to see Japan since I was like, 11, so nearly 20 years. I asked if I could come. He agreed. So we planned it all out and eventually went. It was great. It was my first time over seas and to a totally new country. Sure there were some things I missed out on I wanted to experience (and we experienced a couple of typhoons) but in all, the trip was fabulous and a great experience.

Another couple years later and we take another trip. Seeing Greece, spending time in Paris and a day trip to Iceland. I mainly wanted to see Greece (and we were on a cruise for this, which was actually a cool experience) and neither Paris nor Iceland were high on my list. But they were important to my dad, so I went along with it. I'm glad I did. I had a wonderful time not just with the Greek cruise, but in Paris and our brief time in Iceland. I even got to see the Palais Garnier in Paris, the setting for Phantom of the Opera (and box 5!).

Our last trip together was the fall of 2023. I mentioned before I wanted to see Venice before it makes the way of Atlantis. Venice was my dad's favorite, favorite, FAVORITE city in the world. When he heard that, he asked if we could go together. I said of course. So we once again planned a trip. 10 days in Venice, 5 days in Florence (I wanted to see Florence but he also insisted he HAD to make sure I saw the city, as an artist). ...I think about that trip a lot. Perhaps in part it is not melancholy because it was mine and my dad's last trip together, but even when he was still alive I was deeply affected (positively) by the trip. I happened to look up prices for living in Florence (what I saw was a lot cheaper than I expected, or even close to what I pay for my own place now), Dad mentioned I could live in Florence, and he'd then always have an excuse for him to come to Italy.

There's so much I think about still with my dad. Those trips, the vacations I had with him as a kid. Going camping. Christmas's. Just going on a drive together, having some coffee or lunch.

I mentioned it before, but it cannot be overstated how much you really need to take the time to spend with loved ones and appreciate them. I've lost a lot of people. A lot of people (I even lost another just this week, an old coworker).

There's so much stupid bullshit people prioritize in this world that just doesn't matter. Of course we all get angry over petty things, but that isn't what we should hold onto. The time with our loved ones is what matters, and making the most of it. Take it from someone who has lost 1 or 2 people a year for the last 14-ish years.

Do things you love. Spend time with those you love.

[ENG translation] Joker Out at Eurosonic 2024: an interview with Kris for Val 202 radio station

Today, 22.01.2024, Slovenian radio station Val 202 broadcasted an episode of their 'Glasbena zgodba' ('Musical Story') podcast about the Eurosonic 2024 festival that happened last week. Eurosonic is an annual showcase festival and music conference in Groningen, The Netherlands, where emerging European acts perform for industry professionals and festival scouts. Joker Out performed there this year, so today's podcast featured a short interview with Kris Guštin. Host: The first group we mentioned, Joker Out, performed twice during the festival. First on Wednesday on the MAAS main stage, and the next day, on Thursday, in the Platosonic record shop, where The Strokes also performed in the past. I invited Kris Guštin, who talked to the fans there in Dutch, in front of the microphone.

Kris: Well, my great-grandma and my grandpa's entire side of the family, who are from Indonesia, live in a place called Assen, which is 30 minutes out of Groningen. It's actually the closest big city for them.

Host: Joker Out haven't performed at many showcase festivals, Kris counts Eurovision and the PIN festival in Skopje among them.

Kris: Showcase festivals are maybe not that important or necessary for us anymore, but we still liked doing one or two, to experience it. It is, however… For performers who are really still looking for an international audience, and especially those who would like to present themselves to industry people from abroad, it's a pretty great chance. It's the same with MENT¹, for Slovenia, of course.

Host: Were you thinking about, or were you under any pressure, considering that there were many music professionals in the audience?

Kris: Not really. It's… We were aware that it would be harder to make a good show, because people wouldn't be that oriented towards us and our music, which is totally understandable. I have to say, however, that I was honestly surprised and happy that we had the first three rows or so of our fans, who really made the atmosphere more lively, otherwise it would've been pretty hard. I did, however, also see... The best kind of validation is to see these people who, at the beginning, are standing in the back and not participating in the concert, who are then bobbing their heads by the end. That's always a good sign of a good concert.

Host: The members of Joker Out, who will release a new single in February and go on another European tour soon after that, are currently living in London, where they are getting used to life there and, as Kris says, creating new music outside of their comfort zone.

Kris: But just as a fun fact, well, I will say that now that we are in London, we've made a song that is the most Balkan song we've ever made, so it's… it might have a completely opposite effect. We don't really have any idea yet where it will take us.

Host: In Slovenia, you made a living with music. Now that you've gone abroad and have all these concerts, is it as profitable as laypeople imagine?

Kris: I'll say it like this: if we stayed only in Slovenia, we would be making more money right now than we actually do. But we have, I don't know, some kind of a chronic flaw where we never know how to stop investing in ourselves, well, how to say it. Which is actually a great thing, but such... touring abroad is definitely not a profitable thing for a band at our level, but I will say that it is less of a financial burden than I thought it would be. We are lucky to have so many listeners that in the previous season, the previous tour, we sold out almost everything, which means that it did bring us some money, but with all the... plane tickets, accommodation, transport, it amounts to so much that in the end, we just managed to nicely finance all of it, plus maybe get some money for the album this year. Otherwise, it's not like we're making big money. If we had stayed in Slovenia, we would've just pocketed all that.

Syzygy: Some Closing Thoughts

I'm writing this at 8pm on my backyard porch, under the wavering light of a distant full moon. Hello, moon! Please don't kidnap me. I just wanted to hang out with you for a while as I collect my final thoughts. It's a pretty cloudy night tonight, so it's not properly visible, which I suppose is the cloud cover shielding me from a terrible lunar fate. It gives a deliciously hazy atmosphere for the absolute essay I'm about to write.

Apparently, the Farmer's Almanac says that tonight's full moon is a 'Pink Moon', which sounds like it'd be a very pleasant viewing experience. I imagine pastel frangipanis spontaneously sprouting all over the moon's surface, covering every inch of its rocks and crags until the soft pink glow is visible from all the way down here on Earth. Unfortunately it's not named 'Pink Moon' because of that; there's some American environmental factors, etc.

I think it's kind of charming that there's a list of names for every possible full moon, as if the moon's putting on different masks or incarnations every time it tilts just enough that we can see its full face. I'm looking at a list of them now instead of writing these final notes like I probably should. The names are so delightful. Strawberry Moon. Sturgeon Moon. Apparently last month's full moon was Worm Moon. WORM MOON. I could go on. I won't. Let's talk about Syzygy instead.

Syzygy is... Man, where do I even start with this? Let's try the beginning. I started writing Syzygy in February of 2021, after ruminating on it for probably a few months before that, as I often do. That's three years ago, so my memories of the reasons why are a bit fuzzy, but I think I did it for two reasons: one, a desire to have a long-form meaty slowburn fic for a beloved rarepair in the tag so other people could enjoy it, and two, a fascination with the idea of fractured identity, what it means to be a Side without a Centre. The whole thing with the alternate-history steampunk swapped-around Earth came about naturally from that.

Except that's actually kind of a lie, because that's not the beginning, this began in 2020, when I wrote a pitch for a local station that was accepting radio play submissions (rejected, of course) featuring a hardboiled noir detective in a starlit city whose latest client was a tiny shiny girl asking him to solve her father's murder. And that's also a lie, because I think it really began when I tried to write an original novel in high school where the protagonist's name was Avery Allen, because I liked the way the name tripped off my lips.

My stories are always built on each other, especially stories I never get to write. They all recycle into each other in a weird blend of concepts and characters. 2021 was when I sat down and told myself I was going to write the Thomceit time loop fic, and I dove into it with aplomb. I can't recall the exact timeline of events, but at some point I underwent some truly gnarly health problems that left me unable to use my hands for extended periods of time, and so the fic that was meant to be for a Big Bang ended up... Just sitting in a folder for a while. But me and my beta managed to pull it the fuck together, and after adding some extra bits and pieces (the cutaways were a LAST MINUTE ADDITION even though I think they're some of my favorite bits in the whole thing) I started putting it all up.

Okay, there we go, that's enough of an abridged history of this thing. Let's just say: I never expected as many people to like it as it turned out, I thought that it would be a niche little fic for a rarepair, and I was honestly pretty content with that. So it was delightful to see so many people getting so into it, I have enjoyed the FUCK out of all of your comments and theories and predictions. It's been delightful when people predicted a plot point correctly, and honestly even more delightful when they predicted incorrectly. I've had such a blast.

As for the writing... Suffice to say I have many notebooks full of notes and thoughts, more than one spreadsheet to keep track of time loops and lore, and a semi-complete list of all of Virgil's tarot cards, which one day I'll probably polish and share properly, because I think the concept is neat. But that's kind of how it always goes with my writing.

Naming every inspiration for this would take forever and I'd still miss a few, but I'll just throw out a key few ones, because I gotta:

17776: What Will Football Look Like In The Future, because when I first read it I got the wrong idea and thought that Juice (Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer) was short for Betelgeuse (the star), and that sparked a whole thing about living stars in my brain. Also, just the general way that the worldbuilding and absurdity is handled in that world, it scratches my brain just right.

Welcome To Night Vale. I don't think I need to explain this one.

Madeleine L'Engle's writing, particularly A Wind In The Door, particularly-particularly the bit of it where Proginoskes explains why, precisely, he has to remember and Name every star in the universe. Fucking beautiful book.

A particular Untamed/Mo Dao Zu Shi fic I read years ago and haven't been able to track down again, which also features two people stuck in a time loop who are initially unaware that they're in it together AND dying at the same time. I believe they also meet on a bus? The details are fuzzy. The worldbuilding and descriptions of that fic were so stunning to me, it had me unable to read anything for a solid few weeks, it is definitely a superior work to mine in every respect. If anyone finds it, let me know, I don't think I finished reading it and want to know how it ends.

An unpublished fic that I had the privilege to read while it was being written, that changed my brain chemistry re: the Sides unknowingly existing without Thomas. The Flowerwall Cafe originally hails from this one, too, graciously borrowed and greatly beloved.

Both Ghibli films in general AND Dianna Wynne Jones books in general, and obviously the intersection between the two, Howl's Moving Castle, which is fascinating in how both mediums handle the setting.

The Doctor Who audio drama Scherzo, which is a wild ride, and there's a major plot point revolving around the two main characters holding hands and fusing gruesomely into each other - and another involving an in-story fairy tale.

There was no huge inspiration for the clockwork city and weird steampunk carriages, apart from (perhaps) Fallen London. Certainly, the idea of a background organization that wants to kill the sun, who also happens to be a sentient being, is cribbed from the Liberation of Night.

Syzygy also happens to be packed full of many obscure references to... like... personal projects of mine, some published and some unpublished, as well as a lot of my friends and co-writers, and some really REALLY niche stuff that only I will ever properly understand. I buried a lot of myself into this story, is what I'm saying. Juice hails from a completely different project (a TTRPG with my friends, of which she is a beloved and cherished NPC), the in-universe author for Avery Allen (and Mallory Wynn too) are named for a fictional TV author I created when the writing discord was making a nonexistent fandom, Logan's dumpling recipe is my favorite recipe of all time.

I have an apartment ghost, too. I talk to it regularly.

Myself. I managed to write this and I managed to finish it. That makes me a pretty cool person, all things considered. I'm glad I did this.

What next? I've got to rest. Well, I need to get some things done... and then rest. I've been juggling a hellish amount of projects for a while now, and now Syzygy's finally cleared from my plate, I'm going to try to let the others get cleared too so I can take some time and be less stressed. The Locked Tomb AU will be ongoing, as I get through final edits of chapters, so keep an eye out for that - if you're interested in a fic that's rather less starry and shiny, but very much Thomceit and death themes, check it out - and then....... Well, whatever comes next, whenever I have the energy to do it. I adore writing in this fandom. I'll be back with something weird soon enough.

At the moment you are going faster than your teammate Charles Leclerc, and this has also given rise to some doubts and regrets among the Red fans. Do you think you still have room for growth as a driver?

«For me, all the years in F.1 can offer the opportunity to progress. With each season that passes I feel like a better rider and it's also clear that over time you have experiences that make you grow as a rider and as a person, let's say that I continually make progress on both fronts."

For next year you are in the sights of several top teams, starting with Mercedes. But there was also talk of Red Bull. Does this interest make you feel good, after a difficult and delicate season's eve?

"Yes I'd like that. In reality, I am already part of a top team like Ferrari, and doing well here as I am actually doing makes the others keep an eye on you. In the end it's what I've always wanted as a driver, that is, to be considered a good name to occupy the best seats in F.1. And frankly I hope it goes like this for many years to come."

Carlos Sainz Vázquez de Castro was born in Madrid (Spa) on September 1st 1994. Son of the two-time rally world champion Carlos Sr, he grew up in karting before moving on to Formula BMW, then Renault and GP3. His debut in Formula 1 was in 2015, in Australia, with Toro Rosso, where he remained until October 2017, when he moved to Renault. The 2019-2020 two-year period was at McLaren, where he achieved the first two podiums of his career: third in Brazil in the first season and second in Monza in the following one.

«All options are open, but it takes time to reach similar decisions. Little has happened in recent weeks, from this point of view, but this doesn't affect the way I race, my work on the track. Choosing takes time for everyone. They often ask me whether it is better to think about next year or the long term when deciding. I think it depends on what they offer you. As a driver you always look at the option that the fastest single-seater presents to you, because you think that in that way you can achieve podiums and victories like I'm doing this year. But the possibilities in the medium term are also interesting, considering the change in regulations in 2026. Each side of the coin has pluses and minuses, but the best thing is that today all options remain open."

You don’t seem worried

"No. I smile thinking about the future even if what will happen does not depend solely on me. I just have to wait for it and do my job well. If it takes time, that's fine. Also because, in light of the regulatory change in 2026, it is almost impossible to know who will go fastest. And so the decisions also depend on what the teams "sell" you, but no one has a real idea. For 2025, given how I'm going, I would like a competitive single-seater... in any case the situation doesn't disturb me: I know how to keep the track and the questions from journalists and fans about the future divided. When you run, run. I've been in F.1 for 10 years, I know how to manage my weekends."

How much has competing for Ferrari changed you, on a human level?

«He introduced me to the passion that people can have for a team, and you only see this if you race with the Cavallino and are surrounded by the Red fans. You don't feel a warmth like this in other teams. Humanly I was involved and this affects you, it has an influence on you. I heard it."

Hamilton and Leclerc are great fashion lovers. Do you like it also?

«Fashion is not something that occupies my mind in my free time, it depends a bit on how I feel day by day or on the phase I go through in my life. With the change in age I adapt in the way I dress, but it doesn't come naturally to me to think and research what I wear. I understand those who make it a passion, but it doesn't change my life."

What style do you follow in dressing? Do you buy what you wear or do you have someone who makes it for you? And when you were a boy did you choose on your own or did your mother take care of it? Have you ever argued about how you dressed?

«I almost never buy. When it happens it's because I go with my girlfriend (Rebecca Donaldson, Scottish model; ed.), my sisters (she has two, Ana and Blanca; ed.) or my mother. It has never happened to me that I am somewhere, in a hotel or at home, ® telling myself: "Now I'm going shopping". The idea never comes to me. It always has to come from someone else and this already shows that it is not my priority. Then I get dressed too, of course. And the style I like to follow is classic, elegant and traditional.

I feel comfortable and at ease. Until I was 20-25, all my clothes were bought by my mother, sisters or girlfriends of the time. And I never argued about it because I accepted everything they said, I didn't have an opinion...".

You are very close to his father, whom you have always admired but without avoiding some clashes: what relationship do you have now and how much does it matter for your career?

«When we are young, we all have moments of disagreement with our parents. It is part of the normal dynamic between father and son and there is an age in which you continually express a different opinion regardless, for bias, there is a period of your life when it seems like you do it on purpose. That age has now passed, but I remember that I liked arguing with him, even clashing, but with education and respect.

There was never a really bad moment when we called each other bad words. Dad always raised me to respect everyone. Now we have an incredible, very beautiful relationship. He taught me everything I know in life, in the end I feel privileged to be able to enjoy such a strong bond with him and to be able to have such an important person in my life close to me."

Who inspired you while growing up? Both in the sporting world and outside of sport.

«My father always used it as a reference

Rafa Nadal. And I really like it too, for the competitive spirit and the respect with which he does things. With clarity and a shape that says everything about him. In turn, I want to be the best on the track but also off it." What do you like to do away from the circuits?

«I am a very sporty person, my hobbies are mainly linked to that. I have always practiced golf, padel, skiing, now a lot of cycling, for training but also because I enjoy it. And in my free time I follow a lot of sports on TV."

Madrid, your city, is full of beautiful museums. Do you go there every now and then? Do you like art?

«I'm honest: no, I'm not going. I made all the visits when I was 13,014 years old with school and practically my attendance at museums ended there. But if someone sits down to explain it to me, even better: art interests me. But going alone to watch an exhibition, I don't do that. And it's curious because if someone talks to me about a work of art, why it's made that way, about its history, I like it and I enjoy it."

And in Ferrari from 2021, leaving at the end of the year will not be easy.

«I have mixed feelings. The three seasons spent in Maranello, of hard work, living there, with time spent in the factory, helped the team progress. Now we are starting to see the growth of the project, the single-seater is better and I have confidence in driving it after it has "implemented" all the indications given in the past. It makes me feel happy for this year and at the same time sad that we won't continue the journey together. Somehow we have recently taken the right path for the future, and it shows on the track. But it's life, it's the way life decided it should go. It wasn't my decision, but maybe there will be better things to come. When I look at the past, at the choices I made by leaving Toro Rosso, Renault, McLaren, I see that everything makes sense. Maybe in a little while I'll look back and figure out whether to leave paid".

There are still 20 GPs to go: what do you dream will happen for you and for Ferrari between now and the end of the season?

“More victories, more podiums and see where it takes us.”

Lo stile di un uomo, perché a quasi trent'anni sei un uomo fatto e finito, si misura nei momenti di avversità. Carlos Sainz viene da una famiglia madrilena elegante, può vantare un padre che nei rally e non solo ha scritto qualche pagina di storia dell'automobilismo, ma nella sua avventura in F.1 non ha mai trovato davanti a sé la strada in discesa. Meno di tre mesi fa la Ferrari gli ha fatto sapere che nel 2025 per lui non ci sarà più posto. Poteva reagire male, cadere nel vittimismo, perdersi, esagerare per impressionare tutti. Ha fatto l'esatto contrario. A partire dalle parole pronunciate allora, a febbraio. «Hamilton a Maranello è stato un duro colpo, non me lo aspettavo. Ero abbastanza sicuro che avrei rinnovato il contratto con la Rossa. Ma sarà il mio ultimo anno con la squadra e voglio solo pensare a fare il massimo per il Cavallino». Onesto, sincero. Con stile, appunto. «Lo stile non è qualcosa che scegli - racconta -, è qualcosa che deriva per gran parte dall'educazione che ti da la famiglia, dai valori che hai coltivato. E quello si traduce poi nel modo in cui ti comporti e in come fai le cose. Ma non posso dire di avere uno stile mio, particolare o studiato. Cerco solo di essere naturale».

Che inizio!

Per lo spagnolo eccellente partenza di stagione, in questo 2024, con la vittoria di Melbourne e due terzi posti, in Bahrain e in Giappone.

In questo momento sta andando più forte del suo compagno Charles Leclerc, e la cosa ha fatto nascere anche qualche dubbio e rimpianto nei tifosi della Rossa. Pensa di avere ancora margini di crescita come pilota?

«Per me tutti gli anni in F.1 possono offrire la possibilità di progredire. Ad ogni stagione che passa mi sento un pilota migliore e in più è chiaro che con il tempo vivi esperienze che ti fanno crescere come pilota e come persona, diciamo che faccio continui passi avanti su entrambi i fronti».

Per l'anno prossimo è nel mirino di diversi top team, a partire dalla Mercedes. Ma si è parlato anche di Red Bull. La fa star bene questo interesse, dopo una vigilia di stagione difficile e delicata?

«Sì, mi fa piacere. In realtà sono già parte di un team di vertice come la Ferrari, e far bene qui come in effetti sto facendo porta gli altri a tenerti d'occhio. Alla fine è quello che come pilota ho sempre desiderato, cioè essere considerato un nome buono per occupare i sedili migliori in F.1. E francamente spero che vada così per tanti anni ancora».

«Tutte le opzioni sono aperte, ma serve tempo per arrivare a prendere decisioni simili. Nelle ultime settimane è successo poco, da questo punto di vista, ma questo non incide sul modo in cui corro, sul mio lavoro in pista. Scegliere richiede tempo per tutti. Spesso mi chiedono se nel decidere sia meglio pensare all'anno prossimo o al lungo periodo. Credo dipenda da cosa ti offrono. Come pilota guardi sempre all'opzione che ti presenta la monoposto più velo-ce, perché pensi che in quel modo puoi conquistare podi e vittorie come sto facendo quest'anno. Ma sono interessanti anche le possibilità nel medio periodo, considerato il cambio di regolamenti del 2026. Ogni faccia della medaglia ha dei più e dei meno, ma la cosa migliore è che oggi come oggi tutte le opzioni restano aperte».

In classifica, Sainz e quarto con 69 punt preceduto dal compagno Charles Leclerc (76) Primo è Verstappen (110), secondo Perez (85)

Non sembra preoccupato

«No. Sorrido pensando al futuro anche se cosa succederà non dipende unicamente da me. Io devo solo aspettaree far bene il mio mestiere. Se poi servirà tempo, va comunque bene. Anche perché, alla luce del cambio regolamenta re nel 2026, è quasi impossibile sapere chi andrà più forte. E così le decisioni dipendono anche da cosa ti "vendono" le squadre, ma nessuno ha un'idea ve-ra. Per il 2025, visto come sto andando, vorrei una monoposto competitiva... n ogni caso la situazione non mi distur-ba: so come tenere divise la pista e le domande dei giornalisti e dei tifosi sul futuro. Quando corri, corri. Sono da 10 anni in F.1, so come gestire i miei fine settimana».

«La moda mi interessa poco, non compro quasi mai nulla, ci hanno sempre pensato mia mamma, le mie sorelle, la fidanzata. Amo la comodità»

Quanto l'ha cambiata, umanamente, gareggiare per la Ferrari?

«Mi ha fatto conoscere la passione che può avere la gente per una scuderia, e questo lo vedi solo se corri con il Cavallino e sei circondato dai tifosi della Rossa.

Un calore così non lo senti in altre squa-dre. Umanamente sono rimasto coinvolto e questo ti tocca, ha influenza su di te. Io l'ho sentito».

Hamilton e Leclerc sono grandi amanti della moda. A lei piace?

«La moda non è qualcosa che occupa la mia mente nel tempo libero, dipende un po' da come mi sento giorno per giorno o dalla fase che attraverso nella mia vita. Con il cambiamento di età mi adatto nel modo di vestire, ma non mi Viene naturale pensare e ricercare cosa indosso. Capisco quelli che ne fanno una passione, ma a me non cambia la vita».

Che stile segue nel vestire? Compra lei quello che indossa o ha qualcuno che lo fa per lei? E quando era ragazzo sce glieva da solo o ci pensava sua mamma?Avete mai litigato per come si vestiva?

«Comprare non compro quasi mai. Quando succede è perché vado con la mia ragazza (Rebecca Donaldson, modella scozzese; ndr), le mie sorelle (ne ha due, Ana e Blanca; ndr) o mia madre. Non mi è mai successo di essere da qualche parte, in un hotel o a casa, ® dirmi: "Adesso vado a fare shopping"

L'idea non viene mai da me. Deve sempre arrivare da qualcun altro e già questo dimostra che non è una mia priorità. Poi mi vesto anch'io, certo. E lo stile che mi piace seguire è classico, elegante e tradizionale. Mi sento comodo e a mio agio. Fino a 20-25 anni tutti i miei vestiti li compravano mamma, le sorelle o le fidanzate del periodo. E non ci ho mai litigato perché accettavo tutto quello che dicevano, non avevo un'opinione...».

È molto legato a suo padre, che ha sempre ammirato ma senza evitare qualche scontro: che rapporto avete adesso e quanto conta per la sua carriera?

«Tutti, quando siamo giovani, abbiamo momenti di disaccordo con i genitori.Fa parte della normale dinamica tra padre e figlio e c'è un'età in cui esprimi continuamente un'opinione diversa a prescindere, per partito preso, c'è un periodo della tua vita in cui sembra tu lo faccia apposta. Quell'età adesso è passata, ma ricordo che mi piaceva discutere con lui, anche scontrarmi, però con educazione e rispetto. Non c'è mai stato un momento davvero brutto in cui ci siamo presi a male parole Papà mi ha sempre educato a rispettare tutti. Adesso abbiamo un rapporto incredibile, molto bello. Mi ha insegnato tutto quello che so nella vita, alla fine mi sento privilegiato nel poter godere di un legame così forte con lui e poter avere vicino una persona così importante nella vita».

Chi l'ha ispirata mentre cresceva? Sia nel mondo sportivo sia fuori dallo sport.

«Mio padre ha sempre utilizzato come riferimento Rafa Nadal. E anche a me piace molto, per lo spirito competitivo e per il rispetto con cui fa le cose. Con chiarezza e una forma che dice tutto di lui. A mia volta, voglio essere il migliore in pista ma anche fuori».

Cosa le piace fare lontano dai circuiti?

«Sono una persona molto sportiva, i miei hobby sono legati soprattutto a quello. Pratico da sempre golf, padel, sci, adesso tanta bicicletta, per allenamento ma anche perché mi diverte. E nel tempo libero seguo un sacco di sport in tv».

Madrid, la sua città, è piena di musei bellissimi. Ci va ogni tanto? L’arte le piace?

«Sono sincero: no, non ci vado. Tutte le visite le ho fatte quando avevo 13 014 anni con la scuola e praticamente la mia frequentazione di musei è finita li. Però se qualcuno si siede a spiegarmela, me-glio: l'arte mi interessa. Ma andare io da solo, a guardare una mostra, questo non lo faccio. Ed è curioso perché se poi uno mi parla di un'opera d'arte, del perché è fatta in quel modo, della sua storia, mi piace e mi diverte».

È in Ferrari dal 2021, andarsene a fine anno non sarà facile.

«Provo sentimenti contrastanti. Le tre stagioni passate a Maranello, di duro lavoro, vivendo lì, con il tempo speso in fabbrica, hanno aiutato il team a progredire. Adesso inizia a vedersi la crescita del progetto, la monoposto è migliore e mi fido nel guidarla dopo che ha "recepito" tutte le indicazioni date in passato. Mi fa sentire felice per quest'anno e allo stesso tempo triste perché non continueremo il viaggio insieme. In qualche modo abbiamo imboccato da poco la strada giusta per il futuro, e in pista si vede. Ma è la vita, è il modo in cui la vita ha deciso che doveva andare. Non è stata una mia decisione, ma magari ci sarà di meglio in arrivo. Quando guardo al passato, alle scelte che ho fatto andando via dalla Toro Rosso, dalla Renault, dalla McLaren, vedo che tutto ha un senso. Magari tra un po' di tempo mi girerò indietro e capirò se andarsene ha pagato».

Ci sono ancora 20 GP da correre: cosa sogna che succeda, per lei e per la Fer-rari, da qui a fine stagione?

«Più vittorie, più podi e vedere dove ci porta».

Carlos Sainz proviene de una elegante familia madrileña, puede presumir de un padre que no sólo escribió algunas páginas de historia del motor en los rallyes, sino que en su aventura en la F.1 nunca encontró un camino cuesta abajo por delante. Hace menos de tres meses Ferrari le hizo saber que ya no habrá plaza para él en 2025. Podría reaccionar mal, caer en el victimismo, perderse, exagerar para impresionar a todos. Hizo exactamente lo contrario. A partir de las palabras pronunciadas entonces, en febrero. «Hamilton en Maranello fue un golpe duro, no me lo esperaba. Estaba bastante seguro de que renovaría el contrato con la Rossa. Pero será mi último año con el equipo y sólo quiero pensar en dar lo mejor de mí para el Cavallino". Honesto, sincero. Con estilo, por cierto. «El estilo no es algo que eliges - afirma -, es algo que deriva en gran medida de la educación que te da tu familia, de los valores que has cultivado. Y eso luego se traduce en cómo te comportas y cómo haces las cosas. Pero no puedo decir que tenga un estilo propio, particular o estudiado. Sólo trato de ser natural"

¡Qué comienzo!

Excelente inicio de temporada para el español en 2024, con la victoria en Melbourne y dos terceros puestos en Bahréin y Japón.

De momento va más rápido que su compañero Charles Leclerc, y esto también generó algunas dudas y lamentos entre la afición roja. ¿Cree que todavía tiene margen de crecimiento como impulsor?

«Para mí, todos los años en la F.1 pueden ofrecer la oportunidad de progresar. Cada temporada que pasa me siento mejor piloto y también está claro que con el tiempo vas teniendo experiencias que te hacen crecer como piloto y como persona, digamos que continuamente avanzo en ambos frentes”.

Para el próximo año está en la mira de varios equipos top, empezando por Mercedes. Pero también se habló de Red Bull. ¿Este interés te hace sentir bien, después de un final de temporada difícil y delicado?

Tradición familiar, él corre en F.1 desde 2015

Carlos Sainz Vázquez de Castro Nació en Madrid (Spa) el 1 de septiembre. 1994. Hijo del dos veces campeón del mundo de rallyes Carlos Sr, creció en el karting antes de pasar a la Fórmula BMW, luego a Renault y a la GP3. Su debut en la Fórmula 1 fue en 2015, en Australia, con Toro Rosso, donde permaneció hasta octubre 2017, cuando se mudó a Renault. El bienio 2019-2020 fue en McLaren, donde logró los dos primeros podios de su carrera: tercero en Brasil en la primera temporada y segundo en Monza en la siguiente. Desde 2021 está en Ferrari. De rojo consiguió su primera pole y su primera victoria en Silverstone en 2022. Los otros dos éxitos llegaron en Singapur el año pasado y en Australia hace un mes. Para él, en general 21 podios en 187 Grandes Premios.

Llegar a un acuerdo con un nuevo equipo podría llevar mucho tiempo: ¿es una idea? ¿Puede afectar su desempeño de alguna manera?

«Todas las opciones están abiertas, pero se necesita tiempo para llegar a decisiones similares. Desde este punto de vista, poco ha sucedido en las últimas semanas, pero esto no afecta mi forma de correr, mi trabajo en la pista. Elegir requiere tiempo para todos. A menudo me preguntan si es mejor pensar en el año que viene o en el largo plazo a la hora de decidir.

Creo que depende de lo que te ofrezcan. Como piloto siempre miras la opción que te presenta el monoplaza más rápido, porque piensas que así puedes conseguir podios y victorias como estoy haciendo yo este año. Pero las posibilidades a medio plazo también son interesantes, dado el cambio de normativa 2026. Cada cara de la moneda tiene más y menos, pero lo mejor es que hoy todas las opciones siguen abiertas."

No parece preocupado

"No. Sonrío pensando en el futuro aunque lo que pasará no dependa únicamente de mí. Sólo tengo que esperar y hacer bien mi trabajo. Si lleva tiempo, está bien. También porque, ante el cambio regulatorio de 2026, es casi imposible saber quién irá más rápido. Y entonces las decisiones también dependen de lo que te "venden" los equipos, pero nadie tiene una idea real. Para 2025, tal como voy, me gustaría un monoplaza competitivo... en cualquier caso la situación no me inquieta: sé mantener divididas la pista y las preguntas de periodistas y aficionados sobre el futuro. . Cuando corras, corre. Llevo 10 años en la F.1 y sé cómo gestionar mis fines de semana".

«La moda me interesa poco, no compro casi nunca nada, mi madre, mis hermanas, mi novia siempre se encargaban de ello. Amo la comodidad"

¿Cuánto te ha cambiado a nivel humano competir para Ferrari?

«Él me presentó la pasión que la gente puede tener por un equipo, y esto sólo se ve si corres con el Cavallino y estás rodeado de la afición Roja. No se siente una calidez así en otros equipos. Humanamente estuve involucrado y esto te afecta, te influye. Lo escuché."

Hamilton y Leclerc son grandes amantes de la moda. ¿A usted le gusta?

«La moda no es algo que ocupe mi mente en mi tiempo libre, depende un poco de cómo me siento día a día o de la etapa que atravieso en mi vida. Con el cambio de edad me adapto en mi forma de vestir, pero no me resulta natural pensar e investigar qué me pongo. Entiendo a quienes hacen de esto una pasión, pero eso no cambia mi vida".

¿Qué estilo sigues al vestir? ¿Compra lo que usa o tiene alguien que se lo haga? ¿Y cuando era niño eligió él solo o se encargó su madre?

¿Alguna vez habéis discutido sobre cómo vestía?

«Casi nunca compro. Cuando pasa es porque voy con mi novia (Rebecca Donaldson, modelo escocesa; ed.), mis hermanas (tiene dos, Ana y Blanca; ed.) o mi madre. Nunca me ha pasado que estuviera en algún lugar, en un hotel o en mi casa, ® diciéndome: “ahora voy de compras” La idea nunca se me ocurre. Siempre tiene que venir de otra persona y eso solo demuestra que no es mi prioridad. Luego yo también me visto, claro. Y el estilo que me gusta seguir es el clásico, elegante y tradicional. Me siento cómodo y a gusto. Hasta los 20-25 toda mi ropa la compraba mi madre, hermanas o novias de la época. Y nunca discutí por eso porque aceptaba todo lo que decían, no tenía opinión...".

Es muy cercano a su padre, al que siempre ha admirado pero sin evitar algunos enfrentamientos: ¿qué relación tienes ahora y qué importancia tiene para su carrera?

«Cuando somos jóvenes, todos tenemos momentos de desacuerdo con nuestros padres. Es parte de la dinámica normal entre padre e hijo y hay una edad en la que continuamente expresas una opinión diferente independientemente, por prejuicios, hay un período de tu vida en el que parece que lo haces a propósito. Esa edad ya pasó, pero recuerdo que me gustaba discutir con él, incluso chocar, pero con educación y respeto. Nunca hubo un mal momento en el que nos dijéramos malas palabras. Papá siempre me crió para que respetara a todos. Ahora tenemos una relación increíble, muy hermosa. Él me enseñó todo lo que sé en la vida, al final me siento un privilegiado de poder disfrutar de un vínculo tan fuerte con él y poder tener cerca de mí a una persona tan importante en mi vida."

¿Quién te inspiró mientras crecías? Tanto en el mundo deportivo como fuera del deporte.

«Mi padre siempre usó a Rafa Nadal como referente. Y me gusta mucho también, por el espíritu competitivo y el respeto con el que hace las cosas. Con claridad y una forma que dice todo de él. A mi vez, quiero ser el mejor dentro de la pista pero también fuera de ella".

¿Qué te gusta hacer fuera de los circuitos?

«Soy una persona muy deportista, mis aficiones están ligadas principalmente a eso. Siempre he practicado golf, pádel, esquí, ahora mucho ciclismo, para entrenar pero también porque lo disfruto. Y en mi tiempo libre sigo muchos deportes en la televisión".

«Nadal siempre ha sido la leyenda de mi padre y se ha convertido en la mía.

¿Pasatiempo? Sólo deporte: golf, esquí, pádel y mucho ciclismo, para entrenar y porque lo disfruto”

Madrid, su ciudad, está llena de preciosos museos. ¿Vas allí de vez en cuando? ¿Te gusta el arte?

«Te soy sincera: no, no voy. Todas las visitas las hice cuando tenía 13.014 años con el colegio y prácticamente ahí acabó mi asistencia a los museos. Pero si alguien se sienta a explicármelo, mejor aún: me interesa el arte. Pero ir solo a ver una exposición no lo hago. Y es curioso porque si alguien me habla de una obra de arte, de por qué está hecha así, de su historia, me gusta y la disfruto."

Lleva en Ferrari desde 2021, marcharse a final de año no será fácil.

«Tengo sentimientos encontrados. Las tres temporadas pasadas en Maranello, de duro trabajo, de vivir allí, con el tiempo pasado en la fábrica, ayudaron al equipo a progresar. Ahora empezamos a ver el crecimiento del proyecto, el monoplaza es mejor y tengo confianza en conducirlo después de haber "implementado" todas las indicaciones dadas en el pasado. Me hace sentir feliz por este año y al mismo tiempo triste porque no continuaremos el viaje juntos. De alguna manera, recientemente hemos tomado el camino correcto para el futuro, y eso se nota en la pista. Pero así es la vida, así es como la vida decidió que debía ser. No fue mi decisión, pero tal vez vengan cosas mejores. Cuando miro al pasado, a las decisiones que tomé al dejar Toro Rosso, Renault, McLaren, veo que todo tiene sentido. Tal vez dentro de un tiempo mire atrás y comprenda si marcharme valió la pena".

Aún quedan 20 grandes premios: ¿qué sueñas que sucederá para ti y para Ferrari de aquí al final de la temporada?

"Más victorias, más podios y veremos adónde nos lleva".

TIME FOR THE LONG ASS 2024 REVIEW

i am once again gonna review each highlighted piece i have made in 2024 so far like last year even though it's sort of unnecessary i have a bit to commit to

yappery under the cut

JANUARY

jan's piece is my smash poster celebrating the 25TH anniversary! this after i got rlly into making giant multi-character ensemble pieces, and i've wanted to do a poster like this to celebrate smash, so i'm glad i was able to step up to plate. usually i think my art from january ages pretty bad in these reviews, but i actually still like it from the composition, colors, and the drawings of the characters. i still have the print of it hanging in my room! ^o^ other highlights from the month is the complimentary poster i did with smash ultimate's dlc cast... well i kinda mention that out of obligation because i actually do think this one aged like ass, mainly the shading on the characters looking pretty bad (especially as a print). i think i shoulda saved this idea for later in the year to time it with smash ultimate's release day of december 7 (i am extremely deadline-pilled) but i probably wouldn't have cared by then so i just did it like, immediately after the 64 poster. so it probably smacks of burnout + i can't shade with blue that well

FEBRUARY

this one sorta represents seven whole drawings i did for one series. it's my seven piece set of artworks based on mothy's evillious chronicles, and i chose rilliane's because i think at the time i was putting this together i thought she came out the best (i began assembling this starting april 2024 lol), but idk! i still think she's pretty solid but i think she's tied up with kayo and banica. one thing's for sure, i know sateriasis is my least favorite of the bunch by a wide ass margin, i really wish i executed it better! not much other interesting highlights for this month besides my other vocaloid art series, the alice of human sacrifice ace cards. i think they aged alright but again this is another idea that i wanna execute better in the future.

MARCH

oh boy another series!!! this was part of my four part series redrawing the crossed paths artwork from octopath traveler ii. i chose the one featuring partitio and osvald because it was my favorite at the time. i still think it aged pretty nicely but it has some rendering hiccups that rlly bother me but in terms of colors/the background i still like it. if i had to pick a new favorite, it might go to throné and tenemos or cassti and ochette. another notable highlight of this year was a piece of oc art i made. i need to do something unabashedly overdramatic and angsty with my ocs again cuz i still like this one too. i think i opted out of selecting this one to highlight since cropping a face was kinda awkward lol.

APRIL

an overdramatic oc art has been highlighted! another one i like (it's almost like i picked my best for this chart). it was sorta the origin of me using my favorite watercolor brush in procreate to have an extremely rough idea of the colors that naturally blend together, creating a pretty cohesive palette when i render it (which is the current basis for how i render in my current style). april otherwise is kinda boring idk i don't like a lot of the other drawings here lol. this utsu-p album redraw ft robin is still pretty cool tho imo.

MAY

i feel like i had some nice variety to pick from, but i chose my improvisational and edgy grima drawing since i think stylistically it stands out the most. i found my new favorite sketching/doodling pencil brush in procreate and made a whole drawing using it, and the texture is so niiiice. other highlights: COOL OC ART (ft kandy). part of me feels like it's kinda corny but i was born on da cob so whatever, this one was fun and i still like it!!! there was also my art based on bad end night. i'm a tiny bit mixed on the rendering/colors, idk i was experimenting with a different brush for lining and shading and the slight difference in texture makes it a little weird but that is shit that only matters to me. i think it's a hell of a lot better than the bad end night drawing i made back in 2022, so in terms of "redemption" i think it was successful.

JUNE

kind of a boring month tbh, i got miitopia-pilled again so i was probably busy playing that this month + i was home for the summer and i am extremely lazy when i am at home lol. but to compliment the dive back in my miitopia era i made a sorta sketchy drawing with kandy as my great sage. check it, it's another with my new pencil brush, and i definitely remember having fun with this one (though her robe physics kinda make no sense based on how i drew her ref, i never look at my refs for my ocs/i usually break their designs to fit certain poses silhouettes 💀💀💀). uh i guess the one other interesting piece (imo) from this month was my giant miitopia poster that i was too chicken shit to share proper until recently (if you missed the edit where you can fully see it, there ya go). it's kinda oversaturated vomit and i'm not crazy proud of the execution but it was ambitious and kandy's section still looks really good imo so it has value in that regard to me.

JULY

i participated in my first artfight this july! i drew many cool ocs. by about the halfway mark i got hella burnt out tho and started doing my own stuff to freshen things up (it was also around here when galasynth entered production and i met MANY AMAZING VOCALOID ARTISTS!!! SHOUTOUT TO THOSE MUTUALS :)))))). for this month i chose my poster based on touhou eosd since i think this might be the most gracefully aged piece the whole year (it's probably my favorite!!). the colors just came out real nice.... idk!! a notable piece from this month that couldn't be posted in july cuz of zine nda's was my actual galasynth piece. this was a pretty significant piece since it permanently altered my current rendering/coloring workflow (sorta established in the highlighted piece in april but now with lineart and with a differently textured brush). the touhou poster was created shortly after as a response to this new workflow! other one of note was my perfect cherry blossom poster

AUGUST

brave frobin's design for feh was revealed and i drew it 😼😼😼 (AND I CALLED IT earlier this month. not that i needed to use a lotta braincells but). this was a further step in practicing my new rendering style and see how detailed and meticulous i could get with the colors when i had ONE character to focus on with NO background and i think it was pretty successful. though im glad i posted the wip cuz the colors were probably better there than the rendered... what overthinking does to a mf. another banger from this month was a piece of oc art, it's nothing special but it was a rendered panel redraw of an unpublished comic i made of them and i liked it so yeah. (i also posted my decora una drawing this month which was my scrapped concept for galasynth, but according to my notes it was actually finished in july... but shoutouts to it regardless)

SEPTEMBER

aaaagh this month didn't have much goin on, probably cuz i went back to school around here and the work was getting crazy 💀💀 but i still found time to make something i'm proud of! i drew my oc based on a twitter prompt a mutual of mine shared and i reeeaaally still like it!! especially the details on the corals waow... (i don't really have much else from this month that i consider noteworthy enough to mention here so :P)

OCTOBER

spooky art!!!!! i didn't have much interesting going on this month because again i got very academically demanded of and didn't have much time to draw, BUT i vowed to make a tribute piece to "trick&treat" by oster project for halloween, so i hauled ass to get something ready for that and to have ONE traditional drawing this year (yeah i didn't draw a lot on paper this year unfortunately ☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️). other highlights: a traditional drawing of gekiyaku pills for vsynthtober which i did a whole two prompts of (you just saw all of them) + a digital drawing of geki (i really started to like gekiyaku around this time). as much as i still like the latter's colors and texture it sorta started a bad trend where i sorta just drew characters from the shoulders up with not much pose to speak of + no interesting background just for the sake of coloring it. not that it's completely devoid of value but it was a pattern i was starting to get a little to comfortable with. i'll touch more on this in the closing thoughts section, but this new rendering style did sorta hinder my want to experiment with my digital rendering styles compared to previous years where i prided myself on having a bunch.

NOVEMBER

BOTH of my favorite pieces from this month fall in the same trap as the thing i mentioned above. i picked my drawing of hibiki koto for the chart since the pastels added a nice value shakeup. i STILL LIKE IT, it's nice, but did perpetuate this bad habit/shortcut. the other one was my drawing of great sage kandy (current pfp!). the colors here are pretty fuckin nice still imo, so as a coloring tech demo like this flavor of drawing i was doing i think it succeeded.

DECEMBER

AND FINALLY, the end of the year. i finished my december piece early in the year kinda just to check the box off and get this chart off my back (a totally normal thing people do when drawing art throughout the year). i have wanted to do a legacy of lunatic kingdom poster like my eosd one for a while after falling in love with its ost, but it just felt scary. the characters were very detailed and also there were moreeee 😭😭😭 but i got myself to do it cuz i found myself tempted to fall in the same trap as described in october/november (i was gonna draw koishi with the same crop/thought for the bg/emphasis on rendering. you might see her done by the end of the year), but i was like "NO, i must earn this laziness" and finally did something ambitious again. and yeah, i think i did pretty good with this one, even if the crowding of characters and details is sorta unruly.

ok so maybe i'm a little artistically constipated rn

doing this thorough review has sorta gotten me worried. i talked about this in my review last year, but i wondered if my progress has plateaued since i liked a lot of my art throughout the year and didn't see much significant improvement. but looking back no i definitely improved from 2023, and i'd say i broke some new ground with experiments i did throughout the year (the piece from december is still my banner!!). i also had a few different digital rendering styles i played around with for some variety.

this year, after the completion of my galasynth piece, i got really stuck in a specific rendering style and didn't rlly experiment that much with shaking it up. i also didn't feel compelled to try doing solid lineart or rough paintings, and i got stuck in a "halfbody with basic poses and backgrounds" pit when i know i can do better and more cool if i just TRIED.

i am writing this pretty early in december so hopefully i can bring something new to the table..... idk, maybe the differences in my digital coloring styles are only visible to me, but i certainly notice this repetition and wanna break out of my current bubble! i am working on a collab piece that should go live by spring next year that will hopefully do this :) (and i certainly won't be abandoning my current style, at least not overnight/without trying to evolve it, cuz i really like it and have received many kind compliments from people about it! so thank you thank you!!!!)

i look back at some of my pieces from last year and earlier this year and see some variety in how i go about rendering or textures or colors and wanna go back to that. so that'll be my goal for the rest of december + 2025!!!!! ^_^

anyway that's that, it was a good year despite my current crisis, i think i made some good art. also don't be like me and feel obligated to make nice art every month for an aesthetic chart, i do it cuz i draw fast and i am easily satisfied by them. take breaks touch grass drink water, play and draw. yay!
