Basically inspired by a friends post (I won’t link because it’s a personal post but it made me go O_o). I was thinking about a moment in a fantasy series where the main character is like ‘I have no concept of being beautiful or that someone, anyone could want me’ (basically) and the other character is like ‘you really genuinely cannot see it? It’s not fishing for compliments’ and fuck that is me. That is me.
(Listen learning that I might be allowed to be a person is still terrifyingly difficult. Terrifyingly. I cannot imagine being…wanted. Being worthy of protection and being cherished in an inner circle is…O_o. I mean I know (I think????? Is that abusive to assume says brain) I have that but comprehending it is…it’s still a fantasy).
Also there’s something I often feel is missing in critiques of cottagecore/princess type style - that for people who have not been thought worthy of being cherished, protected, nurtured, soft (non white people: jewish, bipoc and also disabled people (I’m jewish, biracial and disabled and also being a csa survivor I’ve so often heard I’m too tainted to be a princess) - there’s a…it’s about the joy in what you’ve never been allowed to have, the fantasy of flower crowns and pretty dresses and being rescued.
my saati @maevedarlings said it very well so did my saati @beyondthisdarkhouse

i read a lot of homestuck fics back in the dark ages, and I still think about the one where it was from the trolls pov and the kids names were spelled like ‘djohnn’ and stuff because of course they’d assume they have six letters

re: last post
that's extra funny because i remember reading in either, uh, cricket, spider, or highlights a little comic encouraging kids to question information given to them and one example had to do with the idea of a "lifetime" supply or something & then went on to say that a "lifetime" could be anything from a day (flies) to a billion years or smth
