✨️ Twenty Questions for Fic Writers ✨️
Thank you @disgruntledkittenface for tagging me! These questions things are always so fun to read and answer!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
37.
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
212 726
3. What fandoms do you write for?
rigt now, 1D and hockey rpf. I've written for harry potter and acotar before though
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
in order; never been a fan of change, but we're still the same, in the pub that we met he's got his arms around you, dream about a summer night, a conversation starter and these arms were made for holding you
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
yes! almost always. for different reasons. as a reader, I always enjoy getting replies to comments I've left. it also motivates me to leave more comments, esp on that author's fics. that's just how I work. and since I like and want that, I assume it's the same for other ppl so I do that to them. it's also bc getting comments sometimes makes my entire day, and it makes me so happy, and I want to let them know that
6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
i'm not sure i've written anything with an angsty ending? oh wait, two of my older mini fics do. the loss of a friend and what are we now? both have pretty angsty endings, or at least not happy ones. so i'll go with them.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
the rest of them? no, but I prefer happy endings so I think almost all of the rest have. all of my top five kudos ones that I mentioned above are the first ones I'd pick, so take your pick among those. but if I were to pick another one... most of the rest are kinda happy throughout the entire fic and then the ending doesn't feel as happy. so to pick one that's not happy throughout, but has a happy ending, I'll go with maybe we're good, maybe we're not.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
no, i don't. i've gotten some rude comments, but that's as far as it's gotten luckily
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
yes, i've written a little. it's still a bit out of my comfort zone though, esp posting it, but i've written some m/m smut of different variants.
10. Do you write crossovers? What the craziest one you've written?
no. or well, technically yes, but it's an abandoned wip that i don't like so that's all you're gonna get about it
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not as far as i'm aware, so i hope not
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
no
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
nope. I was part of a round robin, but that got abandoned and I vowed never to do it again. group projects are not my thing 😂
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
I don't think I have one. I change favorites so often, so I don't think I can say I've got an all-time fave
15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
oh multiple! I have one that I do doubt I'll ever finish but I still hope I will so so much, so I'm not gonna give up on that one just yet. instead, I have one that's even less likely I'll finish. it's a fantasy one, enemies to lovers (I should've known it was doomed already then, that's not my thing), magic that was based around elements. it's main feature is that it has a "who did this to you?" between two ppl who don't like each other, which is something I love. maybe I'll end up publishing only that scene, it can be read as a stand-alone so it's not that bad of an idea actually
16. What are your writing strengths?
dialogue, I think. specifically banter, I think I'm pretty good at that. I always manage to write it in at least and have a lot of fun writing it!
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I feel like I write pretty short sentences, making paragraphs sound a bit choppy. I'm also an expert in writing english sentences with swedish grammar, so I feel for my beta that has to correct that shit. esp when the sentence doesn't even make sense in English and it's a guessing game😂
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
if it's important to the plot, then yeah, that could be nice. but it's a bit of a pet peeve of mine when i read dialgoue in swedish and it's obvious that the author has used google translate, it bothers me. i'd rather read it in english with an accompanying "says in swedish" rather than the inaccurate translation. but that's probably bc it's my native language. when it's in languages i don't understand i don't have that issue obviously.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
harry potter probably? at least that I posted for, might've written something that I didn't realise was technically for fandom when I was younger
20. Favorite fic you've written?
oh, hm... right now it's probably a tie between does it always end in heartbreak? and maybe we're good, maybe we're not. but that's probably bc those are the latest ones I published. one favorite I always mention is one of the drabbles in the drabble collection snapshots of moments, the one in chapter 11, pretty when you beg
Since this was the first one I saw of these, I'm not sure who has done them, but I'll tag @greenfeelings, @neondiamond, @larrysballetslippers, @lunarheslwt, @sun-lt, @hellolovers13, @zjofierose and @zanniscaramouche. oh and if you see this and want to do this, just say I tagged you because I want to read it!

COTTAGECORE DREAM | T.K.
about. he knows you're exhausted from all the work you're doing. he decided to bring you to a flower field and he thought he might fall in love all over again.
word count. 1.6k
genre & warnings. fluff, timeskip, comedy, established relationship, mentions of overworking, teeny tiny suggestive.
author's note. i was abt to make this angst but changed the last minute >< sorry for getting to this vv late pls enjoy this bc he's done w all the angst we're giving him he says <3 not prfr as usual okay
“be careful, dumbass.” he expected you to frown at his choice of words, instead you give him a wide smile before doing dances in the middle of the flower field. he pushes his glasses up to his nose to distract himself since he hears the wild beating of his heart. a gasp leaves your lips when your hand touches the different kinds of flowers and you get enchanted when you look at them closely. the azaleas are your favorite because of the bright color it brings to the field and it blends in beautifully. when your boyfriend mentions you’re going here, the hitachi seaside park, it felt like the worries and problems stacking up in your life disappeared for a moment.
you grabbed your blue instax camera and took pictures of the flowers dancing with the wind and took a picture of your boyfriend under the bright sun. you move the polaroid for a few minutes before hiding it in your tote bag before running through the field and imagine as if you were on a music video. he shoved his hands in his pockets, watching you get exhilarated with a smile dancing on his lips. he trails behind you and glance at the tulips few meters from him. he thinks of picking it but he didn't want to cause worry in the field that's suppose to distract you from work. he recalls the trouble he's forced to go through with you since you became a little reckless but he has no regrets, he's done those things with you after all.
"kei! come here!" you wave your hands while he chuckles to himself before taking large strides towards you. you loop your arms together, walking around the field which looks amazing when you're in it. we should come here again, you noted.
a part of you is relieved that he thought of going here with you to unwind from everything. you recall the time he carried you in bridal style and covered you with blankets, with that you learned that you have no one to blame but yourself. his preposition began when you keep doing that one thing he tells you not to—overworking then excuse it as a way to be productive.
-
he wasn’t supposed to find you like this.
he wasn’t supposed to see papers and pens scattered around your desk, the cup of coffee in your coaster that he never saw empty in the time he checked up on you. “kei, ten minutes!” you pleaded with a pout on your lips and look at him, your voice laced with desperation because you really needed to finish this email tonight or as your friend quotes, you’re damned. you rub your hands together and shut your eyes, hoping that he wouldn’t protest or flick you in the forehead. your boyfriend sighs in defeat before going back to your shared bedroom, a joyful aura surrounding your face when he didn’t react violently.
your co-worker messaged you earlier asking about the client’s response about the presentation he did a few days prior. he spams you with messages asking why it is taking so long to hear about the response and while you’re typing, you remembered your conversation with him last friday. you were supposed to email the client and provide him basic information about the presentation and add the link so he can thoroughly look at it. for once, oikawa wasn’t the irresponsible one between the two of you and you swear he’s not going to let you forget about this. damn oikawa, you curse in your head before stretching your arms.
you shoot him a text saying i’ll send it tonight and add emoticons even though it contradicts on what you’re feeling right now. you went through your emails and drafted what you wanted to say, the link, and double checked if there are grammatical mistakes and whatnot. when you’re sending an email to a client without checking the message and the information, it lacks decency and poor time management, that’s what you tell yourself.
luckily when you overwork you don’t do it for weeks but you force your work and deadlines on a day. when he heard you saying this, you hear his caring boyfriend scolding as you call it and flicks your forehead with a frown on his face but you got a glimpse of his lips twitching afterwards. while you’re mentally panicking on how to finish the email that reaches your standards, tsukishima is laying down, staring at the ceiling with his hand running on the (your) empty side of the bed, looking for your warmth. he misses your gentle touch when you draw miscellaneous shapes on his back.
he hopes you get yourself together and actually takes care of you but he doubts you’ll do that, you’re stubborn and prioritize work over yourself. he slowly sits up and grabs a pillow to put in between his legs before opening his phone, thinking of what to say that’ll get you out of your desk. he tries to remember an activity or a place that you’ve mentioned because he misses seeing you being happy without worrying about deadlines or your co-workers. after looking around the room he sees the tulips he gave a month ago, looking bright and healthy since you insisted on not letting the flowers die. ah i’ve got it she’ll like this, he thought of a place he knows you’ll enjoy and begins to search on his phone, knowing he’s got you wrapped around his finger.
-
“hey, cmere for a second.” your boyfriend rests his hands around your shoulders while you hum, your eyes going back and forth to your laptop and the papers around your desk. he knows you wouldn’t budge so he propped his chin on your shoulder, wrapping his long arms around you. “don’t be a brat.” he whispers too close to your ear which makes you pause on typing and look away because now you’re only thinking about how close he is and the way his voice gets low.
“consider this as your break, you dork.” he lightly flick your forehead before leading you to the room and the way his face turned to a serious one after locking the door raised suspicions in your head. he grabs the wooden stool and sat there while you’re on the edge of the bed, wanting to know his intentions for locking the two of you. “i’m thinking of going out tomorrow,” he started off gently, and right now he waits for your—
“what about my work?”
“ah ah, stop talking about work, idiot.” he effectively shuts you up when he rests his finger above your lips and when your shoulders slump and let out a sigh, he knows he’s got your full attention. he pushes his glasses up to his nose to focus himself and clears his throat to continue. he’s getting distracted with the way you look adorable with lounge wear.
“we’ll go to the hitachi seaside park, to get your mind off work and stuff…” you couldn’t hide your enthusiasm and squeal repeatedly while moving your feet around the air. the fondness you have for him never decreases but it grew more and more, but you don’t mind at all. your first reaction was to jump at him and wrap your arms around him but seeing the stool he’s sitting on, you didn’t want to risk having injuries. he remembered, you thought while he looks to the side and act nonchalant about it, but the faint redness to his ears going to his neck failed his cover. you opted to grab the dinosaur plush sitting quietly on the bed and lightly hit him with it, convincing him to let loose. the two of you made eye contact and mouthed thanks and your eyes full of sincerity is more than enough for him. he holds your hand and gives it two squeezes, his way of saying no problem, i got you.
-
and we ended up here.
“babe, i know i’m great and i’m flattered but,” you couldn’t continue to talk as laughter bubbles up your chest and clutch your stomach to laugh out loud. he looks like a long stick a few meters away and you walk back to him, twirling so your dress can spin gracefully. he quickly looks at you when he realized what he did, one is stare at you for too long, and two he got caught. you bat your eyelashes to tease him while he curses under his breath.
you take a quick glance at your bag to see if the polaroid showed the picture already and your mouth parted seeing the result. the picture looks ethereal, the left side too bright because of the sun, the colors of nature and your boyfriend tying everything together. after hiding it in your bag, you offer your hand.
“let’s go! don’t leave me there.” a pout coming to your lips before intertwining your fingers together and walking around the field in silence. this is what he needed after the games he had, a day to indulge in whatever he wanted, what you wanted. earlier, you're on your favorite restaurant and got a box of desserts to enjoy when you got home. you’re pulling him where the narcissuses flowers are gathered.
“mhm, hey give me your camera.” you hum to his question, completely focused on the narcissuses. he presses the button beside the camera and tries to find the angle he’s looking for, he also wears the strap to prevent it from falling. it’s his gift to you in the first place. he takes a few steps to the side and angles the camera to his chest and when he takes a look at it, he wants that scene imprinted on his memory forever. your hands almost cupping the white petals, and pretend to blow it and giggles slip from your lips, thinking you look hilarious. the sky behind you creates a happy yet calming atmosphere to the picture, and there’s one thing left to do—
click.

Recap of last year’s fics
It’s time to reflect on last year, which was my second calendar year for writing but my first full year, so here’s a fic meme rundown on my stories from 2017. (Fic links here will be for AFF, but I’ll link my ao3 account at the end for anyone who prefers that platform.)
Total stories published: *This depends on whether you’re looking on AFF or ao3. It’s 9 on AFF (where Orbiting Bodies is all together), 14 on ao3. And then I did 5 drabbles that were just on Twitter/Tumblr if those count?
Total Word Count: ~125k
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d predicted? Definitely more. I had embraced the idea of continuing to write for 2017, but I thought it’d be here and there, not so continuously?
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January? All Kaisoo still, but I did write Xiuchen almost as equally in Sometimes, Legends Lie. I actually almost listed them as the primary pairing, haha, just to throw people off my trail in the Mythology fest, but the heart of the story is more Kaisoo (even if Xiuchen got equal ‘screen’ time). I’ve written Chanbaek as a side pairing, but that’s not new.
New genre: I’m out here writing mythology with world building requirements? Soulmate au? Action/Adventure? Basically anything that’s not slice of life, I’m still surprised I did it. What’s your own favorite story of the year? I think… I have to give the nod to Signal Lost (& Found). But I’m really proud of how I ventured out with Campaigning for Your Heart at the start of 2017, so I’ll mention that one, too. Did you take any writing risks this year? Lots? I hadn’t written much humor (a little near the end of Waxing & Waning), so Campaigning was a risk. Uhhhh also all the smut. Which I hadn’t tried wholeheartedly until Campaigning.
Runner up: Of Keepsakes and Kisses, but it got a lot of love during the Best Days of Our Lives fest on LJ. The most fun story to write: What the Nightingale Spies. It ended up being longer in the middle chapters than I’d planned bc I was having fun writing the flirting and the missions. And the reception has been great - I love laughing with you guys in the comments. The story with the single sexiest moment: Ch 12 of Orbiting Bodies (Jongin’s New Favorite Song) - the bathroom scene OR Campaigning for Your Heart - Soo using his fancy tie on Nini The most “holy crap, that’s wrong, even for you” story: Uh… the epilogue of For Me, You’ll Always Be 18 was written right after New Year’s last year, so… yeah, that. The story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: Signal Lost (& Found). I didn’t know Kyungsoo’s character super well when I first outlined the story, since I was focused on Jongin’s POV and his journey. I kinda kept Nini’s mindset a lot in the beginning of writing that story, to try and capture his fears and doubts faithfully before letting myself 'learn/see’ Kyungsoo more clearly once they were ready to meet. The hardest story to write: What the Nightingale Spies. It was supposed to be my easy going, no stress writing project amid the fests. Ha. HA. But I’m very proud of what I’ve managed to do with it. The biggest disappointment: I don’t know that I have one? Maybe not spending as much time on my Orbiting Bodies chs as I 'should’ sometimes. I prioritize speed to churn those out in the moment when something Kaisoo happens, so I know the quality often isn’t there in the same way as much of my other writing. (But it’s really fun to fangirl with you all right as stuff happens!) The biggest surprise: That I’m even closer with my squad (that I met here on AFF thru reading/writing) than I was last year. That Indi is my fic wife and I get to beta just about everything of hers and she’s there for me, too, whenever I need her? How did I get so LUCKY?!? The most unintentionally telling story: Uh… What the Nightingale Spies is a pretty big ode to Kyungsoo’s voice, which I love. Favorite Opening Line(s): “Ayyyy, who left a sock in the fridge?” Chen whines.
“LEFT a sock in the fridge? Don’t you mean who put a sock in the fridge? Don’t normalize it. Since when is the office refrigerator an appropriate place to store hosiery?” Wendy asks between bites of her muffin. - What the Nightingale Spies
Favorite Closing Line(s): I’m gonna be insufferable here and say I love just about all my closing lines. It’s something I actually spend a fair amount of time on.
Top favorites: Signal Lost (& Found), Sometimes Legends Lie, and Ch 8 of Orb Bodies (The Space Between Right & Wrong). The first two are major spoilers to the fics, so here’s the ending of the OB chapter (Soo’s sad poem in the shape of a broken heart)-
Unhealthy, maybe But I can’t help believe.
In another place, In another time, You’d still Be Mine.
Favorite 5 Lines from Anywhere:
I can’t do this properly bc I hate potentially spoiling anything; here’s a half-assed attempt:
““Why on earth would I miss having my eyes assaulted by routinely bad dye jobs and socialist propaganda?” Kyungsoo retorts while calmly packing up all his things into his Fendi bag, taking longer than normal to gather up his myriad of note-taking materials. Is he lingering? He’s not lingering. Why would he linger.” - Campaigning for Your Heart
“Long ago they might have tried brushing off each other’s compliments with a self-effacing, ‘No I’m not,’ but they’ve grown comfortable over the years in accepting those sincere endearments. The beauty of a love fully bloomed, where fear of seeming immodest or worrying the other is only pandering has long since faded away.” - Of Keepsakes and Kisses
““Settle down, drama llama. Maybe you’re just taking my advice to calm your tits too seriously, and while you would’ve bent over for any dick yesterday, you’re limp for even Gong Yoo today.” - Signal Lost (& Found) [my real fave lines from this fic are in the final scene]
"A thrill runs through Kai’s body. “Oh. Well that’s, um, that’s good,” he says tentatively, not wanting the eagerness to burst out like a fucking Bat-Signal in the night sky.” - What the Nightingale Spies
“I’ve choked guys out with my thighs before.” Great, that’s an image Jongin will never get out of his head. Might as well chisel it on his bedroom ceiling - it’s all he’s going to see when he tries to sleep tonight, he just knows it. - What the Nightingale Spies
Top 5 Scenes from Anywhere You Would Choose to Have Illustrated: 1. Jongin standing in the art gallery in Signal Lost (& Found)
2. The moment Kaisoo meet in What the Nightingale Spies
3. Kyungsoo and Jongdae’s conversation in Tartarus in Sometimes, Legends Lie
4. The pamphlets falling around Kaisoo when they kiss in Campaigning for Your Heart
5. Kaisoo standing together, holding hands and watching the sunset on the back of Soo’s yacht in Sail Away With Me Fic-writing goals for 2018:
Hmmm, trying a new genre like either fantasy/mama AU or wolf AU. Finishing the epilogues I promised for my fest fics.
Thank yous:
To everyone who’s become a friend, a reader, or a commenter. You guys are awesome and a MAJOR reason why I’m still writing and writing a lot. my ao3 account with works sorted by popularity in case you want to check out any of the ones I mentioned in this recap.

Touch. (Percival Graves x Reader)
Soooooooo, this isn’t the part two of ‘Are You Mine?’ but my brain just instead decided to write this up hahaha
This is just a short drabble that I wrote bc I love me some nice Percival Graves ;)
Summary: Percival gets jealous and says something you would never expect to come out of his mouth.
Warnings: Sinnamon spice (YOOOO hmu if ya’ll actually want some smut bc im sO DOWN FOR WRITING SMUT)
Words: 1,163
Author: @xfandomqueenblrx (me)
DO NOT repost this on other sites and claim it as your work.
Enjoy mis amigos

You looked down at the dress that adorned your body. What you were wearing was enticing. A long, dark red dress that complimented your skin tone, accompanied with a low neckline. To top it off, you also had nude heels on that accentuated your legs. All in all, you felt extremely confident in what you were wearing, and you had every right to with how wonderful you looked tonight.
Your eyes scanned around the ballroom, in hopes of finding one person.
Percival Graves.
Yes, the brooding Mr. Graves who towered over you and made you feel fear and excitement at the same time. He was an interesting man, mysterious and confident. The first time you had seen him at MACUSA, you were immediately intrigued and eager to know more about him. As time passed, your interest in him only grew.
You didn’t know if he realized that you had grown such a liking towards him. Your normally calm demeanor would break around him, and you would start to blush or slightly stutter when talking to him. You wanted to grow closer towards Percival, get to know him and at the least become friends. However, you rarely got to see him with the amount of work he always had to finish, and if you were able to talk to him, the conversation would be short and clipped. The only time you regularly got to see him was in the morning, when you brought him coffee. Yet, every morning was still filled with short conversations, as you were unable to look him in the eye without blushing or feeling embarrassed. Things have gotten better, though. You’ve been working under him for a good three months now, and the conversations have picked up a little bit. You became more confident around him, even starting a bit of friendly banter in the morning when delivering coffee to Percival. But, you still needed a bit more. And tonight was the night you could get to know more about him.
Madam Picquery was throwing a party to celebrate the anniversary of MACUSA. Everyone who worked at MACUSA came to the party, along with some of their friends or family. All in all, it seemed like tonight was going to be a good night. And you were going to use this night to further your friendship with Mr. Graves.
Finally, you spotted him coming towards your table. Everyone else who was sat with you had already gotten up to go and socialize with others or introduce family members or friends to other co-workers. You, however, stayed behind. You hadn’t expected Mr. Graves to come seek you, in fact you thought you’d have to look for him. But, he found you and had already started over to your table.
He sat down next to you and smiled. “Not in the mood to socialize?”
“Well, I believe I’m socializing with someone now.” You grinned and picked up your champagne glass from the table to take another drink.
“Ah, yes. If you would really like to be alone, I could leave you here to your thoughts.”
“O-oh no, you can stay. Sorry if that came off rude.” You nervously laughed and set down your glass. You then intertwined your hands in your lap. Hopefully he didn’t think you actually wanted him to leave. It’s a miracle he even came to talk to you.
Percival smirked and put his hand on yours. Your eyes widened and you slowly looked up at him.
“You’re fine, darling. I know you were joking. Anyways, how are you? I know we don’t get to talk much, but I’d like to get to know some more about the girl that brings me coffee every morning.” He took his hand off yours to pick up his own glass that was set on the table. He winked at you and took a sip of his drink.
You blushed. “I’m fine, thanks for asking. What about you?”
“Good. Do you-”
“Hey, Y/n!” You jumped at the sudden voice behind you. You looked back to see Abernathy walking towards your table. He’s always liked you, making moves on you in hopes of you caving in to being his girlfriend. You’ve just never been interested, and he’s never been able to take a hint.
Abernathy smiled and took a seat right next to you. He waved at Percival before setting his gaze back on you.
“You look beautiful tonight Y/n. Whad’ya say about... meeting up somewhere after this?” He took a little bit of the fabric of your dress and rolled it between his fingers. “We could have some fun.” He then proceeded to wink at you.
You couldn’t help but cringe and shuffle as far away as you could from him in your seat.
“Abernathy, we’ve been over this. I’m just not interested, ok?”
“That’s what you say every time sweetheart, but I know we have a connection.”
You gave a loud sigh.”No, we really don’t.”
“Come on, you really wanna be with this guy all night?” Abernathy pointed at Percival.
Percy was seething inside. Who was this kid to come and rudely interrupt the conversation you two were having? And you were so obviously not interested in him, yet he kept on going without even acknowledging how uncomfortable you were. A sudden surge of jealousy washed through Percival. He couldn’t help himself but feel the need to protect you, and his pride.
“At least she’d actually enjoy being with me all night.” The words flowed out almost instinctively out of Percival’s mouth, shocking both you and Abernathy. Your eyes were wide and you couldn’t help but giggle a little when you looked at Abernathy’s shocked face. Percy was glaring at him, willing him to leave just by his stare.
“A-alright sir. I didn’t mean any harm. Have a good night you two.” Flustered and confused, Abernathy quickly stood up from his seat, earning a loud screech to come from the scraping of his chair against the tile. He then quickly walked away from you and Percival.
You looked back at Percy and smiled.”Thanks for getting rid of him for me. He definitely took your lie for the truth.” You let out a small laugh when you thought of Percy’s words.
Percival picked up his glass from the table once again and took another swig of the contents inside. He then gently set it down and looked at you. His stare was intense, a look he had never given you before.
He didn’t know if it was all of the alcohol he had drunk that night, or the surge of adrenaline that was rushing through him at the time, or both. But, he managed to lean forward on his chair and place his hand on your knee. He came close to your ear, his hot breath fanning over your skin and leaving goosebumps on you arms. Your skin tingled at the sudden contact, and you couldn’t help but shiver.
“I wasn’t lying, sweetheart.”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks for reading! Leave some feedback, lemme know what you guys think! Also, don’t be afraid to send me some requests to write up. :)

Note
Hi, I hope you are well. I'm a 20 year old university student on summer break and I've had my first job for about 2 months. (I had a temporary job last summer too for a month but I'm not counting that) This job would be fine, if it weren't for my boss. Let's just call him Tom. Tom is extremely hot tempered, inpatient & rude, to me at least. A few days ago I was stading in the hallway of the office &Tom bumped into me & stepped on my toes, and instead of saying excuse me, he YELLED when he was
*continued* the one who bumped into me. Now this is just one minor incident. He also puts me down in front of my coworkers. I’ll make one silly mistake and he’ll call me stupid or brainless, literally. He’ll usually say it when he walks away, thinking I don’t hear him but he’s really loud. But yesterday, to my horror, he called me stupid to my face and in front of other ppl, for putting something in the wrong place. Zero shame. He’ll also do other rude things like I’ll leaving the back room to get
*continued* Some papers and he’ll walk in and yell “MOVE IT!” really loud. To be fair, it does get crowded, but I still find it very rude.He could just say excuse me like a normal fucking person. A couple of days ago I was taking orders from my coworkers (bc I’m their assistant) so I was busy helping them out and he comes into the room and says to print out a couple of papers for him. I finish what they ask me to do first (bc they asked me first?) and he comes in again and yells at me. He tells
*continued* me again to print out the papers and then says “understand? If not, you can go home” like excuse me for doing what my coworkers asked me to do first?? Everyday there is some sort of issue with this man.I think he only does this to me. I even see the other people I work with laugh and joke with him. I feel singled out. Maybe it’s bc I’m a new and young, inexperienced university student. Idk. Do you think he crossed the line? Am I being too sensitive? I’m good at hiding my emotions
*continued* In public but it really does bother me, it even kept me up a bit last night. I get a bit nervous in the mornings before work, and I’m terrified of my boss. I don’t think this is normal. I’m a very passive person but I really feel like snapping sometimes. I would quit in a heartbeat but it feels really nice to make your own money, and I need job experience so I can have a better chance at getting a good job when I graduate.
Oof. This guy is a nightmare! I really couldn’t tell you why he does this to you and only you. He may be a too happy about getting to be in charge of someone and trying to hard to assert his authority. He may be a bully and enjoy making others feel bad. Or he may just have terrible impulse and anger control.
If this were a permanent position, this guy’s behavior would need to be addressed by HR (if you’re in a large company) or his managers. He is being unprofessional and abusive. If you report him, documented evidence is best. If there were any emails where he spoke like this, that would be pretty damning.
However, given that you are only there for two months, I would say just tough it out. You could still report his behavior, but it seems like more effort than it would be worth for you. You are right that having summer jobs while in university helps you get better jobs when you are out of school. Talk to your friends if you need someone to just hear you vent, but don’t vent to other co-workers, especially if they seem friendly with him (this may backfire on you as they may take his side and look down on you for gossiping). Remaining as calm and polite as you can during one of his rants will make him look terrible and you look great. Hopefully one of your other co-workers will see how hard working and patient you are throughout all of this and will be willing to write you a letter of recommendation if you ever need it. And we will always have people in the office we don’t like, but the good news is after this guy, almost every other office situation will seem like a breeze! Good luck!
