Arising, sort of....
Yes, it’s been quite a while. I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. My many half-finished ideas sit silently as writer’s block hit me hard at the beginning of this year, and I haven’t quite recovered from it.
I’ve decided to shift from my career in vet nursing to something that better supports my mental health: art and photography. I’ve always loved these, but I only ever treated them as hobbies, not as profit. I hope to continue building on this passion and turn it into something more meaningful for my future. My love for animals will always be there of course, I simply lack control over my emotions and ability to perform in stressful situations.
I miss writing and making gif's, and have been trying to get back into it, I can’t say when or if I’ll fully return. I just want to let you know that I’m still around, kind of. In addition to my numerous unfinished ideas, here are a few more I haven’t been able to stop thinking about. Feel free to use them, or I might get around to doing something with them later. Just wanted to share. All NSFW 18+

Well, let's just say, you and him got tangled and carried away. Turns out the sly decepticon has a kink for dominanting femme's, and you're all too eager to play along.

. #3 - ES Starscream x f!robot reader x Skywarp x Nova Storm Warning: Angst & eventual smut. Summary: Part 3 for 'Seeker Allure'. You're left hurt, angry and conflicted after Starscream turns his back on the autobot's for the decepticon's own benefit.

part 6 of The Buddie Development by moi ->
part 1 | part 2 | part 3 | part 4 | part 5 | part 6 | part 7 | part 8 | part 9 | part 10
S2:E17 Careful What You Wish For
This is the part where we get more into the development and less into the Buddie, but i’m willing to jot down anything that seems relevant, just for you 😚 Eddie is happy, Shannon (Chris’s mom) is being present, Christopher is happy, they are having a good day at the beach, but when inevitably Shannon asks “what are we?” Eddie gets doubts, he is indecisive about making the relationship that he “always wanted” and what seems easy, official.
Eddie is working on his marriage, and asks Buck if he has to remarry since they were separated, but Buck tells him it’d be better if he asks Bobby since he’s the one who knows about that stuff.
At this point, i don’t think either of them realize they have a man-crush on each other. Wanting to kiss you friend against a wall isn’t fruity, right? we’re just really good friends 🥰
S2:E18 Life As We Choose
This is one of my least favorite episodes cause Buck gets crushed by the firetruck :”( i couldn’t help but notce that Eddie went in the ambulance ride with him, even though the paramedics (Hen and Chim) were already there and he didn’t have any need to be there. remember only one official family member is allowed to go in the ambulance, Bobby stayed behind, but not Eddie. do you think he held Buck’s hand? 😫✋
~days later~ When they’re at the station the team welcomes Bobby (after he almost got fired), and Hen says “things are finally getting back to the way they should be” and trust Eddie to look sad and say “almost” ☹️😔
When Maddie is going to take Buck to Eddie’s ceremony for finishing his probation period she says that he shouldn’t go because he should focus on his health, but Buck is keen on going and says that it is more important. and i think it’s such a cute moment when they are about to hug and they have to work around the crutches, doing like a little awkward dance.
S3:E1 Kids Today
5 months have passed and Buck is just about to get re-certified to be a firefighter, but he throws multiple clots and can’t come back, here comes the hard stuff 😭😤
When Buck refuses to get out of bed and out of his loft for weeks, Eddie (obviously) is the one who goes and forces him out. He knows how to work Buck, so he leaves Christpoher to be looked after for the day, Eddie to Chris: “he’s hanging out with HIS Buck todaaayy!” grinning so wide.
And not Buck working out his issues career wise with Chris😭 he’s such a child you guys.
S3:E2-3 Sink or Swim/The Searchers
hi guys. um… i can’t see through my tears. i have to warn you if you plan on watching season 3 be ready for the tsunami episodes, i haven’t stop crying pls send help. i don’t even know how to explain this but the way that Buck would do AND DID everything and more for Chris is just beyond words, it’s beyond Love. i can’t think of an episode that expresses what Eddie and Chris and Buck have for eachother more than this one. i saw a gif of when Eddie grabs Buck’s shoulder (after the tsunami, back in Buck’s loft, the next day probably) and OP said “if anyone worked that hard to keep eye contact with me i would have to marry them” Eddie phisically follows Bucks line of sight and reassures him that he trusts him more than anyone with his kid/life. 😭
now that the tears have dried and i rewatched the scene i can say that they are so funny together.
Buck: you want Me? to watch Christopher?
Eddie: it’s easy. he’s not very fast.
😭🏃♂️
Buck: i lost him eddie
Eddie: no you saved him. that’s how he remembers it. Now it’s his turn to do the same for you.
Eddie: *reassuring Buck* I’ve failed him more times than i can count, and i’m his father, but i love him enough to keep trying and i know you do too, Buck. there’s nobody in this world who i trust with my son more than you.
I’m in love with these two idiots. i had never connected so much with fictional characters, and it is not just them but the whole cast in 911, they are doing and amazing job 🫶 so that is it for this post, hope you like it, and comment your opinions so we can talk!
#buddie#bi buck#buck x eddie#911 show#911 abc#eddie diaz#evan buck buckely#911#queer coding#buck 911#i don’t know how to use tags#gay men#buck is christopher’s other dad#buckley siblings#ok whatever hope that’s enough

Defenders & TP S1 timeline
The Defenders were filmed from Nov 2016 till mid-March 2017. The Punisher S1 was filmed 3 Oct 2016 - 9 Apr 2017.
In the beginning of TP S01 we see that Frank finishes his vendetta against the Kitchen Irish by killing that last guy in airport bathroom stall on 19 Apr 2017, judging from the props boarding pass, but that seems to be a mistake, so let’s say it’s 19 Apr 2016. And then it’s “six months later” when Pete Castiglione is working construction.
From what I understand, it’s sort of official that the events of The Defenders and The Punisher S1 take place more or less at the same time in the end of 2016. Since Karen is in both, I tried to figure out that “more or less” part, and I think The Defenders take place some 2-4 weeks after TP S1, but it’s a bit of a mess, so whatever, I’m comfortable with this as a headcanon, not necessarily proven truth.
Some sources say Defenders take place “a few months after Daredevil Season 2 and Luke Cage Season 1 as these two overlap”, and I haven’t seen Luke Cage series, but DD S2 ends at Christmas and The Defenders starts in autumn, so that’s definitely more than “a few months”. Reddit people also figure that Luke must have spent some 6 months in prison, placing Defenders some 6m after Luke Cage S1. Karen seems to have settled in comfortably in her reporter’s job at the Bulletin and when they catch up, it feels like she and Matt haven’t seen each other for quite some time. Matt seems to have settled in his pro bono lawyer career. When Matt and Foggy meet up at Josie’s, Foggy says “It’s been a long time, Josie, can’t tell you how much I miss this place,” so that also makes me think it’s been more than “a few months”.
(Doesn’t quite explain why boxes with N&M files are still living in the middle of Matt’s living room, not piled up by a wall and out of the way.)
The “two months” claim seems to stem from how Elektra was apparently resurrected two months before the start of The Defenders, but the only reference I noticed actually just says “months ago”?
Also, considering how Matt destroyed the Hand’s blood harvesting operation in DD S2, I’m willing to assume they resurrected Elektra soon after her funeral, before the blood hit its expiration date, and apparently Elektra either recovered more slowly than implied in the show, or she’s been busy for months, not just some weeks (in line with how Danny and others recognise having fought her in different locations all over the world).
Judging from the bill of lading Jessica stole in E2, the architect received his box of explosives on 15 October.
People have even managed to decipher the date in Jessica’s computer in E1, which is apparently some day in November? 1st? 3rd? Single-digit something. I can’t make it out, but it sounds reasonable and kinda in line with the weather we see in The Defenders (although the first episodes feature some rather golden, leafy trees, so who knows).
However, Karen has no forehead injury from the hotel bomb in TP S1, and if this was mere weeks after TP S1, she would still have it, considering how it took a while for her Schoonover car crash injury to heal in DD S2. She does seem okay though, the way she might be if she knew Frank survived the carousel shooting and is in the wind, but alive and okay.
If The Defenders took place first, I think Karen in TP would have been much more raw and emotional over Matt’s recent death. But it would explain why Frank didn’t even consider finding Matt too, when he was going through his “short list” of people who knew he’s alive. But maybe he finds Matt too annoying and decided that getting Karen’s help would be more constructive than knowing what Matt might or might not have said.
(However, if TP happened first, would Matt have managed to stay away and not try and stop Lewis blowing up innocent people and threatening Karen?)
People have noticed that in TP the Empire State Building is lit up in red “in honour of Daredevil’s sacrifice”, but we see it lit up red already in The Defenders E6 when Elektra just kidnapped Danny:
And this is the same Empire State Building at the end of The Defenders:
(and in real world, apparently it was lit up red during the filming period on 14 Feb 2017 for the Valentine’s day, so it’s some kind of filming schedule thing; also, it doesn’t make sense for a corporate Manhattan building to commemorate a Hell’s Kitchen vigilante?)
So, to sum up, it’s a mess, but I’m willing to go with a headcanon that TP S1 happens a 2-4 weeks before The Defenders, when Karen and Matt are still estranged, with Matt trying his best to keep on the straight and narrow as only a pro bono lawyer and with Karen feeling lonely but not exactly devastated like she would be after Matt’s death in Midland Circle.

TUA S3 thoughts - SPOILERS AHEAD
Gotta say that I’ve finished watching s3 like last week and it’s still the only thing I can think about. This fandom burst into my brain yet another time (along with my undying love for Robert Sheehan) and I wasn’t ready AT ALL. That being said, here’s some thoughts for this season because i have to share this somewhere so humour me
Again, big, huge spoilers ahead!!
Loved this season. If felt much more personal and emotional than s2, though I must say that for now nothing beats s1 mood.
I felt like the sparrow academy had a lot of potential, which has been exploited a bit but not completely. Marcus’ death was so sudden, and when also Jayme and Alphonso and Stan died, I really hoped TUA would somehow invert the damage and bring everyone back to life. Especially after what happened to Mr Pennycrumb. :(
Loved the dance scenes. There’s a dance scene in every season and I LOVE THAAATTT + bonus points for making the dance scene in e1 diego’s hidden wish lol
So I watched the whole season in Italian and I’ll definitely do a rewatch in English but when I’ve found an article stating that apparently Aidan spoke Italian when meeting Dolores I had to watch it because you don’t notice it in the Italian version!!! And it’s so cute!!!! I’m shocked!!!! I didn’t know Five pictured Dolores as Italian?? Are there other scenes like this that I don’t know of???? When did Five learn to speak Italian??? I LOVED THIS
I’ve read some criticism for this season because it has some nonsense scenes, plus a whole episode just about Luther and sloane’s wedding. I feel that, but I don’t agree - I loved those moments because we get to see more of these characters when they’re not trying to save the world. They’re carefree, and relaxed. We get to know their dance moves (not imagined by Diego this time), we get to see drunk Five (again) trying to give a speech to his brother, we have hugs, and warm words, and drunk Ben being the same old Ben again. So yeah I loved that, I’d watch an entire series of them just doing nothing
Still need to know the reason behind Christopher existence tho
Speaking of the wedding, I love Luther and Sloane!! Luther was a total himbo this season, and now I care so much about him. He changed a lot. At first I didn’t see his relationship with Sloane particularly well (c’mon, another sister??), but then she’s not really his sister like Allison was, was she? So it’s basically almost like Diego and Lila relationship
So yeah now LutherxSloan definitely beats AllisonxLuther
Before diving into S3 Allison rant, I’m gonna say that despite Lila is totally bonkers I love her and she and Diego are perfect for each other. Can’t wait for Dad!Diego!!!!
So yeah, Allison. I kinda hated her this season, but what she went through made me stop from totally hating her. Her siblings did kinda dismiss her pain, even if they were worried about her. Tho if it were Viktor in her place, probably everyone would have rushed to comfort him more than they ever did with Allison. Tho her pain doesn’t really justify what she did to Luther (such a dramatic scene, so painful to watch) and to Harlan. And what she said to Viktor. So yeah. It’s complicated. The fact that at the end of the season she has everything she ever wanted while the others have nothing………I think it’s gonna be a huge thing
And now let’s go to my beautiful, beautiful Klaus!!!!! I LOVED HIM SM this season omg. How he was so resolute to find his mom and what happened to her, and how he wanted to help reggie so much!!! Despite everything!!! He could have gladly abandoned him after everything he did to him (and maybe he should have)
I love his powers and can’t wait to see what else he can do
I was absolutely destroyed by the fact that despite his numerous trips to the other side, there was not a trace of Dave. That would mean he’s alive maybe??? but it’s a Dave that hasn’t really known Klaus and that hasn’t fallen in love with him. Their story is so dramatic and I LOVE IT AND THEM and I really, really hope they have an happy ending in s4 and the writers don’t totally dismiss them because otherwise what was the meaning of s2????
We only got a small whisper from Klaus when he came back from the dead for the first time. A small, anguished “Dave” + klaus clutching the metal tags. That’s it. That’s all we got this season. I’m starving.
Tho again, I loved how Klaus’ focus for this season was his family rather than his lover. We got to know him more in depth and his relationship with his father and the fear of his powers and all that so yeah I can accept this. Still I hoped until the very end to get a crumble of Klave :(
There are many other things but I need a rewatch!! Let me know if you guys have theories!!! I need more theories for s4 otherwise I’d make some myself and no one is gonna like that and I don’t have the energy to come up with some sense for this season lol

Okay so!! I just finished season two of the Owl House and watched Thanks to Them like. two days ago. So I have no idea if this has been said or not, I have not a clue what the current fanon is, I just had a Thought and wanted to share. This might be an ice cold take. I have no idea.
Anyways here's my Theory On Flapjack (spoilers for the whole series pretty much)
I think Flapjack was originally Caleb Wittebane's palisman.
First piece of evidence: The first time we meet Flapjack, he's living with the Bat Queen, which implies that he had a witch at some point, but something happened and he had to go live with her instead. The scar over his eye suggests that whatever happened was traumatic, at least for Flapjack, though quite possibly to his witch, as well. When he decides he wants to be Hunter's palisman, the Bat Queen implies that it's been a long time since Flapjack chose to go with anyone.
(S2:E6 Hunting Palismen, 19:20)
We don’t know how long palismen live, but the Bat queen herself has been alive for thousands of years. Hundreds of years (say, the time between Caleb being alive and Hunter being alive) isn’t out of the question.
(S1:E10 Escape of the Palisman, 19:23)
Based on earlier lines in the Hunting Palismen episode - e.g. "What a wonderful idea" - we can assume that the picking of palismen hasn't happened before, at least not in this way, so whoever had Flapjack last was probably the one to carve him. It's suggested in Thanks to Them that Caleb was learning to do magic, like Luz (or at least wanted to), so it doesn't seem like much of a stretch to suggest he might have carved a palisman.
Second piece of evidence: Hunter is a grimwalker clone of Caleb, or however the verbage works, but Hunter doesn't know that for a good portion of the show. This is important because when he goes undercover at Hexside, he uses Caleb as his fake name. This is, crucially, not Hunter’s idea. He scrambles for an answer when Willow and Gus ask for his name, and Flapjack is the one to suggest the name Caleb.
(S2:E13 Any Sport in a Storm, 7:58)
Third piece of evidence: In the episode King’s Tide, during the final confrontation, Belos nearly attacks Hunter, but stops, shifting his face back to human and guilt tripping this poor kid yet again. Then he sees Flapjack and immediately goes back on the offensive - it’s made very clear, Flapjack is the one causing this switch, not anything Hunter does or says.
(S2:E21 King’s Tide, 17:05)
It’s interesting that the subtitles say “kill him” there. That’s a bit of an odd phrasing when Belos is acting alone. Also, the intonation is strange for it to be “kill him” - I hear it as “Caleb.”
Fourth piece of evidence: This screenshot from Thanks to Them, during the story of how Philip and Caleb disappeared. The accompanying line is “[The witch] dazzled [Caleb] with magic and visions of a strange yet beautiful place.”
(S3:E1 Thanks to Them, 31:53)
Fifth piece of evidence: Also from Thanks to Them, Flapjack knows things he would have no reason to know. He knows there is something hidden in that house, in the human realm, where he has in theory never been before. It’s unclear if he knows exactly what is hidden there, but he is the one who leads them to the rebus map, which is implied to have been Caleb’s means of traveling back and forth between realms.
(S3:E1 Thanks to Them, 8:48)
And finally: This has been pinging around in my brain since I first learned Flapjack’s name. “Flapjack” is not a Boiling Isles word. In fact, I can’t think of a time where pancakes were referenced at all (I could be wrong about that but nothing comes to mind).
In fact, Hunter comments on the name the first time he hears it.
(S2:E9 Eclipse Lake, 21:38)
Flapjack is an old-timey human word. Very interesting name for a palisman on the Boiling Isles. Unless, of course, he wasn’t named by a witch.
These have been my extensive thoughts on Flapjack. Canon has hurt me so I turn to writing essays on obscure details. Have a good night

Okay (maybe cos I’m a clean freak) but imagine cleaning dins armour after all that guck! Like he’s in the shower trying to get it out of his hair and he trusts you to help clean it but it’s taking forever and it’s late. He insists he can do it in the morning but you just want to do something nice for him. You guys stay in opposites of the crest cos his helmet is being cleaned but he’s looking at you afar and thanking the universe that he has you 🥺✨
This got soft, but I hope you enjoy! I also realized I read this prompt a little wrong but its still more or less the same 🥺💕
Also! Slight S2 E1 spoilers. Very minor but you've been warned!
The Mandalorian Masterlist
»»————- ♡ ————-««
"You are filthy!" you proclaimed as soon as the Mandalorian was within eyesight. Before you can say anything else, the little one is running up to you, coming as quickly as his little legs will allow. Swooping down, you scooped him into your arms, but much to your dismay, he was just as filthy as the Mandalorian.
"Rough....day," he said quickly, unsure if whether mission, day, week, month, or year was the most adequate conclusion. You groaned slightly when you saw his normally pristine Beskar covered in dirt and...some sort of goo you weren't going to question.
"And you stink," your nose crinkled when a got a waft of his stench. Groaning slightly, you lifted the small green bean and gave him the once over, noting that he was in no better shape.
"Really rough day," he said with a tilt of his helmet and a light shrug of his shoulders. You'd spent almost the entirety of the last year with him and you'd gotten adept at reading his body language. You were positive there was an almost sheepish expression on his face - one that matched the expression of his son.
"Oh Din," you sighed lightly before handing off the Child back to him, "I just cleaned everything. But I suppose, honestly, that none of that matters. What matters is that the two of you are safe."
"Yes," he agreed as you started to walk off, the two of them following closely behind. The Mandalorian's stomach grumbled loudly as soon as he smelled the delicious stew you had simmering in the kitchen. A warmth spread throughout his body, and he was glad for the Beskar armor covering his body. Otherwise you might see his flushed cheeks, "I-"
"Any troopers?"
"No."
"Droids?"
"No."
"Ewoks? Jawas? Moon wolves?"
"No, no, and no," he said as you turned on your heel, arms crossed over your chest as you studied him. Despite him looning over you, clad in all of his armor, you were the one making him nervous. He was sure it wasn't just anger or annoyance in your eyes, but something else...was that concern in your eyes? Worry?
"Then what the hell happened?!"
"Krayt Dragon...?" it came out almost as a question as your mouth dropped open, your eyes widening in shock at his confusion. You looked between him and the lightly cooing child, trying to figure out in the hell they survived.
"What in the kriffing heavens!" your voice was sharp and high pitched, reverbing off of the metal walls of the Crest, "a Krayt Dragon! That's insane! And you brought the baby! You didn't think to come back and give him to me?! What if something happened to him, or you, you big dunce!"
"It all happened so fast," he held his hand up defensively as you poked at his chest. He backed up a few steps as the child laughed in amusement, "a-and it was fine. All fine..."
"You could have been killed, you tin can! Is there anything in your head or is that beskar too? And the baby! What about him?" you weren't mad at him per se, but you were worried. A millions thoughts ran through your head as you realized all the things that could have gone wrong. One slightly different move and they could both be dead. Sometimes you wondered if Din was aware of his own mortality.
"But we're okay," he said softly as if that was going to stop all your worries, "safe and sound."
"Judging by the state of both of you," you raised an eyebrow as you pointed between them, "you came close to being very not okay. I hope at least it was worth it."
"We helped the village," he admitted as you nodded sharply, "but nom Mandalorian. Although I found some Armour."
"Well, I suppose that's a start," you said as he nodded in agreement, "now, go and take off the beskar, shower and put on clean clothes. The stew will be ready by the time you're adequate to rejoin less smelly society."
"I-"
"Its not open for discussion," you crossed your arms over your chest, "and give the bean a bath too. Leave his dirty clothes with yours."
"I-"
"Now," you insisted firmly and with that, the Mandalorian decided not to argue. Among many things, he was a fool, but he also knew better than to argue with you.
»»————- ♡ ————-««
When he stepped out of the refresher, the lights throughout the Crest were off, save for the lights in the kitchen. He called your name softly but no response met his ears. He exchanged a quick glance with the Child before going around and looking for you.
At first he was worried when he didn't see you, but his fears were quickly alleviated when he heard soft singing from your quarters.
He poked his head inside and before he could say anything, you turned and offered him a soft smile. That's when he saw what you were doing - cleaning and polishing each piece of his beskar, one by one.
"Take off your helmet and leave it outside the door. I left it dark so I wouldn't see you. Go on and eat, and I'll leave it back outside the door for when you're done," you told him softly as you finished with another of his pauldrons. He made a small in the back of his throat as he felt his stomach do somersaults.
"What are you doing?" his voice cracked as he set the little one down. He immediately waddled over to you, plopping down at your feet.
"What does it look, tin can?" you teased, "go on and do as I say. Everything will be clean and ready for you soon. The clothes are drying."
"W-why?" he asked softly as you laughed at him, "you didn't have to..."
"I know," you acknowledged, "but I wanted to do this. Its okay to let others help sometimes. For once, let me take care of you."
"Okay," Din's voice cracked as he nodded, his heart melting at your words. Your gentle smile caused his heart to thump rapid, "I'll go...and leave it here."
"You can trust me," you promised, "go on and eat. I'll be done soon."
"Thank you," he almost whispered as he moved out of the doorway and started to pull off the helmet. You listened to the soft clank as a smile crossed your features. Knowing he trusted you was everything. There was a pause for a moment before his voice reached you again, this time soft and unfiltered, "cyare?"
"Yes?"
"I..." he trailed off a second and you just listened to his soft breathing.
"I know," you said after a few moments of gentle silence, "now go on eat! Rest now."
"Of course," he agreed as he started to pad away. Under his breath he whispered to himself, "anything for you."

Rewatching 9-1-1 so here are some of my favorite quotes that I missed the first time cuz I was like 12 when the show first came out part 6
These are a bit more spaced out, episode wise, cuz I kinda forgot about this series :P
S2 E18
Chimney: Dispatch said something about an animal?
Influencer: Yeah it um, came out of my face
Eddie: What are we looking for exactly?
Influencer: It was like a little worm. Or a grub maybe
Hen: Like a maggot?
Influencer: Ew don't say maggot
Buck (very cheerful): Maggot!
.
S3 E1
Buck: We're going for all the marbles here buddy!
Christopher: Buck I don't want the marbles, I want the bear!
.
S3 E3
Eddie: Ok, there's a morning snack, a midday snack, 2 coloring books and a bunch of legos. Between us, he's never built anything that kinda looks like anything. He just likes sticking things together.
.
Eddie: Maybe try going to the zoo this time. Something inland?
.
S3 E4
Harry and Denny: *arguing over their game*
Hen: *about to stand up*
Athena: KIDS!
Harry and Denny *stop fighting*
.
S3 E10
Buck: Woah, why is she bleeding chocolate syrup
Chimney: Because, blood thinner boy...
.
S3 E11
Chimney: So Harrison (dude who just got run over by his friend and had all of his guts pushed out of him) if you weren't a bank guy, what do you think you'd be doing?
Harrison: Well when I was a kid, I wanted to be a firefighter.
Harrison: Now I don't think I have the guts
.
S3 E12
Christopher: But you can skateboard
Eddie: Hey you know what I can't do?
Christopher: Cook?
Eddie (laughing): Hey! That's not nice! But probably true...
.
Eddie: Ok, yeah I'll figure something out
Christopher: You promise?
Eddie: Yes, yes I promise. You and me, Friday morning, telling appropriate for 4th grader war stories.
.
S4 E6
Hen: Your parents lied to you your entire life and your just ready to let that go? What's your secret?
Buck: Therapy. As in my parents agreed to come to a few sessions with me, work our stuff out. Look thier trying I figured I should be too
Hen: Very mature Buck
Buck: Very Buck 3.0
Hen: Okay I'm not calling you that
.
Probie: Just finished my first shift
Buck: How was it?
Probie: Oh, it was pretty quiet.
Hen: WHOAH!!! Did he just say-
Chim: NO!!

Animestyle 2019/12 - MP100 Interview Translation
The December 2019 issue of animestyle contains ~50 pages of interviews, and I was lucky enough to be sent every page to read through. Interviewees include Tachikawa Yuzuru (director) & Kameda Yoshimichi (character designer). Contains a bunch of information regarding characters & topics like season 3, so please enjoy!
[Note that this Tumblr compilation misses out quite a few things from the original Twitter thread. If you’re curious, that thread is here.]
TACHIKAWA YUZURU (Director)
Wanted to go for a darker colour scheme for the characters and settings to fit the more dramatic themes in MP100, but Kameda disagreed, wanting to go for something more colourful
Considers S2 more ‘focused on humanity’ than S1
S1 was made without expectation of S2
When cutting bits of the manga from the anime adaptation, a “the viewer will still understand the point of the scene without these lines” approach was used
Considers S2 as having two parts; the character focused part, and claw arc. The decision was made to squeeze claw arc into 4 episodes as Tachikawa hated the idea of sacrificing content from the earlier part for a half-half split
He's well aware of how loved Reigen is; fans tell him so at mob events all the time
Considers the “who exactly am I” question that many of the characters deal with; finds it most impactful with Reigen, as he simply pretends to have powers, whereas Ritsu Mob Teru etc. actually have them
He holds Reigen arc dear to himself, in particular the “be a good person that’s all” conversation that gets put into the anime more than once
He considers Reigen’s growth one of the core themes of S2, alongside Mob’s own
Episode 8 was not in the original plan - S2 was meant to be 12 episodes much like S1.
The omake in which Tsubomi comes to the office was actually drawn for the purpose of giving the team something to put into ep 8 of the anime - team was struggling to find something from the manga to put in (“S&S team doing something for Mob”) so ONE created it
The reason why all the characters in Mob Psycho are so lovely is likely because ONE is a genuinely lovely person so it’s a reflection thing
In response to Reigen’s rant at Mob in ep 6 that causes their rift, Tachikawa says; “we’ve all had moments in which we know saying anything else would be the worst thing to do but we haven’t been able to stop ourselves”. It’s why the scene leaves an impression
In the manga you don’t get to see Reigen’s face after Mob tells him he’s a good person. They added it into the anime, and Tachikawa states that Kameda had a lot of trouble trying to figure out exactly what expression they should give Reigen
Discusses American highschooler Weilin Zhang (of ~17 years old), who drew up around 1800 frames for the purpose of S2E5
Reigen’s website was designed with the brief of it having to look cheap and shoddy
Considers Mob Psycho 100 as having the message “its okay for you to do the things you’d like to” at heart
Mention of not only Japanese fans but international fans increasing with S2
Describes Serizawa as becoming handsome after his haircut in the final episode of S2
On the topic of animating what’s left of the manga, says he’d like to give it a go
KAMEDA YOSHIMICHI (Character Design)
Slightly more time pressure on S2 than S1, which meant there was a bit of detail lost with the drawings for S2
Describes Shinra as a charming character
Goes on to say that he SUPER loves Shinra and really likes drawing him. Discusses how people tend to love attractive characters in anime and as a results there’s not many chubby characters, so he latched onto Shinra
Found the thoughts & feelings of characters a lot easier to read in S2 compared to S1, which made drawing their expressions easier. The more he worked on mob the more he found he understood the characters
Small discussion of Reigen’s behavioural shift from Ep3,4,5 to 6 & complexity of his character. Makes him hard to understand. But he understood Reigen’s feelings of regret in Ep7
Reigen shirt scene segment in Ep6 intended as fanservice
ONE has described Reigen & Mob’s relationship as being similar to that of the main character and the kid from the film “About A Boy” (Will and Marcus)
Compares Reigen to Sakai Masato’s character from “Legal High” (リーガル・ハイ), in that they both do bad things but aren’t ‘bad’
Regarding the choices they made with character shading (blurry on skin, but sharp-edged on hair & clothing), this was inspired by Disney (Aladdin, specifically). Originally they went for blurry-edge on clothes too but decided against it ultimately
Describes how each mob character is pretty distinct and it’s easy to recognise who is who; ie. if they have bobbed hair + no eyebrows, mob; a standoffish countenance, Ritsu; blond hair, Reigen
Describes how in contrast to the simplistic character designs, the atmosphere they’re surrounded by is complex
Amount of young animators working on mob psycho increased from S1
Final manuscripts for S2 were compiled in 2017
States that when he read the manga, Reigen Arc really touched him and it’s the main reason he decided to work on MP100. he was very upset that S1 ended without reaching Reigen arc, and he’s glad they got to tackle it in S2
He considers the growth that Reigen & Mob go through from S2E3 - E8 a principle part of what mp100 is all about
When asked about parts of the manga that haven’t been animated yet, Kameda says there’s a LOT he’d love to bring to the screen. He wants to finish off the anime as “we’ve gotten this far already”
Regarding a potential S3, Kameda is asked if there's really enough material left in the mp100 manga to fit 12 episodes... he agrees that there's probably not, so they could go for 10 episodes much like Attack on Titan S3 Part 2, or a movie. (This is not the first time Kameda has implied S3 could be a film instead.)
If/when they proceed with animating mp100 is dependent on director Tachikawa's schedule, as it's looking a little busy right now
TSUCHIGAMI ITSUKI (S2E11 storyboard, production)
Lead animators for MP100 tended to be young; mostly in their 20s, 2-3 people in their 30s, no one in their 40s
Never felt like he was in an atmosphere where he was under hellish time pressure to get things done
On being asked his thoughts on mp100 S2 as a whole, Tsuchigami says he enjoyed it but felt like it could've been longer. He was happy w the pace of E1-3, but felt dissatisfied with E4-5. Was happy with E6-8, but then with E9 onwards felt a bit dissatisfied
Felt like the story-related elements had to be cut down in order to fit the length of the season they were given; this is where his dissatisfaction stems from. Regardless, he very much enjoyed S2
OGASAWARA SHIN (Animation director, animator)
The staff working on MP100 were allowed a lot of creative freedom
Animation director for S2E3, and animated for E3 (from Reigen repeatedly pressing the doorbell of the stalker to Reigen saying let's go out for soba) and E11 (around the Justifiable Self-Defence Rush)
Reigen's Justifiable Self-Defence Rush was animated with the intention of giving it a manga-panel-like feel
S2 was completed without any huge blunder happening
UCHIDA NAOTO (Animation director, animator)
Originally did work for S1, but felt like nothing but a hindrance and wanted to crawl into a hole. But the workplace atmosphere was great and everyone was very kind, so it ended up being a good experience
Animation director for S2E4, and was split animation director with Nakamura Hayate for S2E10. Did animation for the opening, E1,4,5,10. E1 animation: around when Emi + pals are with Mob at the embankment. E4: from 'Nakamura's flashy explosion' ((Reigen cut by glass scene?)) to when the espers are being kicked around. E5: when Reigen and Dimple are having their back-and-forth. E10: layout of the awakening lab.
Found season 2 very enjoyable. Being an animation director was excellent. Character design? Godlike. Felt incredibly lucky that he got to take part
NAKAMURA HAYATE (Animation director, animator)
As stated above Uchida & Nakamura worked on S2E10 as animation directors. Uchida covered the first part of the episode, and Nakamura the latter half
Nakamura animated for S2E4 + E10. E4: around when Mob attacks Minori attempting to exorcise Mogami from her, E10: Suzuki + co's entrance, when Mob possessed by Dimple & Shibata exit the building, Telepathy Club scene, and from Mob + Body Improvement Club's parting to the final scene
Felt like he could've done a little better for S2. And on a personal level wishes he got to draw more action scenes
ETC.
We've had confirmation from ONE already that REIGEN is complete with a single volume, but we've got that confirmation again here too with the way the sales description is written
Thanks for reading!

Half a Pint of Sex
A little AU that takes place during S2 E1. What if Rae didn’t leave after she saw Finn in the shower?
Also posted on AO3.
Thank you as ever to Lil, my beta reader from another mother: you are exacting and wise and very exciting to work with.
@madfatty @burnnmyhearttout @thatfunnygirllauren @hellothisismebye
Rae was in a tizzy as she walked back from the lingerie shop. It was all well and good to bare everything in front of Chloe and Izzy and the baps-expert bra lady, but…ugh…who was she kidding? Even that was horribly uncomfortable. How could she ever do this with Finn? She closed her eyes and counted to ten. “He likes me,” she reminded herself. “He’s already touched my lady bits and he wants to go camping and he knows we’re getting three tents. Relax, idiot! He likes you. He really likes you.” She repeated the affirmation, though suspected this could all change once Finn really saw all of her. But the pep talk and the teal underwear in her shopping bag gave her a surge of confidence or maybe it was just hope. Whatever propelled her, she found herself heading to Finn’s house. Maybe to show him. Maybe not.
Meanwhile, Finn was in his attic, waist-high in boxes and sorting fairy lights from Christmases past. Most of his thoughts were preoccupied by the camping trip and how not to let on that he was preoccupied. Being attentive to Rae was work but the best kind. It felt good to be in this deep, to care this much. Anyway, their first time would not be in a tent, that was not how he’d pictured it, hence ten calls to arrange the surprise caravan and a whole morning in the attic. He was glad she’d been busy earlier because he was crap at making excuses. He was covered in dust from his efforts, but now he just wanted to see her. Fuck it, he was going to go over to hers even if he had to wait around until she got home. He headed to the shower to wash up.
Rae’s feet automatically slowed as she approached Finn’s house; much had changed since the first time she’d walked up to his door. When she was with Finn their chemistry was obvious and magnetic, but when they were apart the whole thing still seemed impossible. If she could get back in the same room with him, the rest should take care of itself. She needed to trust in the strange magic of them. She pushed herself forward with the memory of Finn’s reassuring smile, his promise of “to be continued.” Gary welcomed her inside amidst a haze of Dire Straits. Rae prayed her own straits were not so dire.
Finn’s thoughts were racing in the shower. Was he putting too much pressure on her? He was pretty sure the whole thing had been Rae’s idea. It was a sleepover and she’d asked for three tents. And she had let him touch her the other day in her room, but then Linda had barged in and it just didn’t feel right to continue. He’d run off to footy practice even though he’d planned to skip it. But now it was all he could think about, how ready she’d been for his fingers. The hot water across his shoulders was starting to remind him of that warmth and how it had spread to her wickedly soft inner thighs. He rubbed at his stiffening cock but glanced up to find the door open, and his dad didn’t need to see that. He turned the water a little colder–he would wait until he was in his room to finish that thought.
Rae climbed the stairs with a distracted smirk on her face and heard the water running as she reached the top. Was Finn in the shower? Was he showering with the door open? Who showered with the door open? “Oh,” she thought, as she saw his wet and flawless frame turning away, “people with perfect bodies.” And there it was, the arse she coveted, bare as the day he was born, as peachy as she’d ever imagined.
Suddenly, she was struck with a huge choice: run out of this house straight to the airport and jump on a plane to the North Pole to live in a cave and raise polar bears and never again see a human arse that would remind her of what she couldn’t have OR literally put on her big girl pants and meet her own life head on. Seeing as she’d spent her last pound on the pants, air travel was out of the question. She walked halfway down the stairs and back up three times before finding herself in Finn’s room. The next set of events was a blur, as she ran to the window and yanked the curtain over to block out as much light as possible, raced into her new underwear while holding the door closed and finally dove under his duvet and slid herself all the way to the wall.
Lying in Finn’s bed, Rae was shocked by her own actions, completely out of breath and utterly grateful that Chloe had explained what she meant about preparing for “naked time” with Finn. That morning, Rae had shaved her legs, continuing above her knees which she hadn’t even realized was a thing, and she’d smoothed out her underarms and even tidied up her unruly thatch of pubic hair. As she awaited the inevitable, she tried to make herself as small as possible, but her flesh refused to cooperate and kept falling around her in the most hideous of ways. Every time she angled herself to smooth one area, another rolled up and out, and she was quickly getting itchy and hot in all the places where her skin was rubbing against itself, and this was all a very bad idea, and her head was pounding and she thought she might throw up. Her fevered train of thought came to an abrupt halt as the freshly-bathed scent of Finn Nelson burst across her senses and then he was there in the room, in his boxers and running a towel over his head. He didn’t see her at first, as he was taking in the closed window curtain with mild confusion.
“Don’t be scared it’s just me!” Rae blurted out as she pulled the duvet up to her nose. “Hiya.”
Tracking Rae’s voice, Finn found her wedged in the corner of his bed. Her position was almost comical as if she were trying to disappear into the wall, but this did not diminish the salient fact: Rae was in his bed. She was under his duvet. She was hiding something, possibly nakedness. His body was reacting faster than his mind and he quickly moved the towel down to hide his excitement. He was turned on; he was touched, and he was stunned by the boldness of her gesture. As his eyes adjusted to the dimness, he could see that she was terrified.
“What are ya doing under there, girl?” He asked in a tone he hoped was both non-threatening and affectionate.
“Oh nothin’,” Rae responded. “Just thought I’d make sure you had sheets under here.”
“Oh, and do I?” Finn couldn’t help but flirt as he moved slowly towards the bed. He was still having trouble processing what was happening, but whatever it was, was very good.
“Yes, comfy sheets.”
“They’re comfy, eh?” Finn was fully loving the dynamic now. He felt a little bad for torturing her like this, but he knew this would all work out even if she didn’t seem to. “Can you feel them especially, ‘cause maybe you’re not wearin’ anything?”
“Oh, I’m wearin’ something…some…things…” Rae was biting her lip, rolling her eyes and blushing to her toes.
Finn was standing right up against the bed now. His curiosity was beyond piqued, but he knew Rae was regretting her actions and he needed to get her back on board. He was always most confident expressing himself from his arsenal of smiles, and he carefully chose one for her that conveyed sympathy, encouragement and understated joy. When he saw the muscles around her eyes relax, he spoke, “I’m really glad you’re here.” Then even more gently, he added, “Would it be okay if I joined you under there?”
Rae nodded, and Finn slipped cautiously onto the bed, keeping a respectful distance and his eyes on her face.
“So, what are these… things…you’re wearing?”
Rae huffed and rolled her eyes, “Chloe took us to a lingerie shop and I wound up buyin’ this stuff. But they’re totally impractical and I don’t think they look good on me. And I mean, I’m not even sure if you like my boobs, because they’re too large and they’re not made for lacy-”
“Rae…Rae!” Finn was struggling to get Rae’s attention and she finally stopped babbling long enough to look at him. “Do you not know how I feel about your boobs? Guess you hadn’t noticed me looking at them all the time when we first met? Archie and Chop had to tell me to stop!”
“Nah… I hadn’t…” Rae attempted a nanosecond of mental acrobatics, trying to immediately recall all the times this could have happened. It was new information and she couldn’t help but smile and then laugh, “Chop had to stop you?! But Chop looks at them all the time!”
“Yeah…” Finn winced “Now he says if I get to touch’em, then he should at least be able to look at’em.” He scrunched his face and waited for her to punch him.
“What?! Oh thanks for that! Really defending my honor, eh?” The banter was so normal, that for a minute, Rae forgot they were in a bed and half naked. “You know Chop needs to watch himself or Izzy’s going to get seriously insecure. I know she already feels—"
Suddenly Finn was kissing her–his version of oral sparring was not really fair, because he always won.
Finn was glad she was back to form, because he was addicted to transforming loud opinionated Rae into quiet, yielding Rae. Kissing her was like unlocking so much sweetness, and it was all for him.
When she stilled, he spoke quietly, “Anyway, I told Chop, that was bullshit and he had to stop.” Finn continued with a playful pout, “But can we not talk about Chop anymore? Besides…I haven’t really touched them… not really…”
Rae was pleasantly transfixed by the recent kiss and his current gaze. This back and forth between humor and seriousness, teasing and affection, of her knowing him and his knowing her was the alchemy she needed. She bit her bottom lip as she slowly lowered the duvet to her waist, revealing all the cream and teal she’d been hiding. Finn gasped and stared, and Rae felt like she was on fire. His hand instinctively reached out to touch her, but he stopped himself.
“Can I?” His breath hitched on the words and Rae felt a sense of control that she had never known. She could feel how truly sexy she was in that moment with her hair flowing around her face and her lips parted. She looked at him from beneath her lashes and knew how completely she had him. All of time seemed to slow down in that astonishing moment.
When Rae finally spoke, “Yeah,” was all she said. He reached towards her hesitantly and ran his finger along the top of her shallow bra cup, tracing the entire seam where it met the soft flesh of her right breast. Finn’s eyes were on hers, as he slid his finger below the edge, lowering it inch by inch until her whole breast spilled out. They held each other’s eyes with half shock and open mouths. Gradually his eyes lowered to take her in, the fullness, the large dark areola, the perfectly protruding nipple; the sight drew his tongue forward. Then, just as slowly, Finn freed her from the left cup and felt woozy with the vision that lay before him.
Rae smiled as she watched Finn’s reaction and relaxed into this new sensation of feeling like the best thing he’d ever seen.
“They look so good, Rae…” Finn was nearly stuttering, “better than I imagined.”
Finn was consumed with looking, just feeling her with his eyes for a full minute before finally sweeping his fingers around the outside curves of her and his thumbs against her nipples. He kissed her then, pressing his whole body into her, knowing she could feel him hard against her leg.
It all turned hot and heavy quickly as they licked and sucked at each other’s lips and tongues. They were grinding against each other’s thighs and her hands were grasping at his hair and his hands were full of her breasts. Things were escalating and their hearts were racing, when Rae put her hand between them and pushed him back.
“Are you okay?” he panted, concern registering in his eyes.
“Yeah, I’m good,” she panted back. “So, so good… I just don’t think I’m… ready…”
“Oh, Rae,” Finn smiled. “We don’t have to…there’s so many other things we can do… I mean…if you want to…”
“Yeah…I want to…” Rae smiled, and Finn remembered she had her own arsenal, and this was the one–so wide and genuine and beautiful–that lit up his heart.
“Honestly,” he added, “I’m just chuffed to see you in your underwear.”
“You really like it?” She asked, pretending the question was not rhetorical.
“Yeah, I really like it,” he answered, as if she didn’t know what an understatement that was.
“Do you think your dad might…?
“Nah.. not if my door’s closed.”
“So he’s not makin’ hot pot or anything? Maybe needs some ingredients?”
“He won’t bother us,” Finn grinned as he spoke. “He knows you’re up here. And he totally loves you.”
Rae smiled to herself wondering how many Nelsons might love her. Finn shifted out of the bed to put on some music.
Rae teased him, “Oh, let me guess…”
“Oi!” Finn shot back, “I’ve been waiting for this. You can’t deny me it.” He pulled out his album of decidedly not crap reggae and lowered the needle. “Plus now my dad will really know to stay away.”
As she watched him return to bed, bopping his head suggestively to the music, Rae giggled and felt her whole body melt and tingle in anticipation. “So, where were we, girl?” Finn asked as he crawled in next to her. He looked into her eyes and ran his fingers through her hair, and Rae was very happy to remind him.

GUM MACHINE
April 8, 1949
“Gum Machine” (aka “The Principal of the Thing” aka “Demand Your Rights”) is episode #38 of the radio series MY FAVORITE HUSBAND broadcast on April 9, 1949 on the CBS radio network.
Synopsis ~ George tells Liz that she needs to stand up for her rights and stop letting people push her around. So when Liz loses a penny in a broken gum machine, she vows to get her penny back no matter what the cost.
“My Favorite Husband” was based on the novels Mr. and Mrs. Cugat, the Record of a Happy Marriage (1940) and Outside Eden (1945) by Isabel Scott Rorick, which had previously been adapted into the film Are Husbands Necessary? (1942). “My Favorite Husband” was first broadcast as a one-time special on July 5, 1948. Lucille Ball and Lee Bowman played the characters of Liz and George Cugat, and a positive response to this broadcast convinced CBS to launch “My Favorite Husband” as a series. Bowman was not available Richard Denning was cast as George. On January 7, 1949, confusion with bandleader Xavier Cugat prompted a name change to Cooper. On this same episode Jell-O became its sponsor. A total of 124 episodes of the program aired from July 23, 1948 through March 31, 1951. After about ten episodes had been written, writers Fox and Davenport departed and three new writers took over – Bob Carroll, Jr., Madelyn Pugh, and head writer/producer Jess Oppenheimer. In March 1949 Gale Gordon took over the existing role of George’s boss, Rudolph Atterbury, and Bea Benaderet was added as his wife, Iris. CBS brought “My Favorite Husband” to television in 1953, starring Joan Caulfield and Barry Nelson as Liz and George Cooper. The television version ran two-and-a-half seasons, from September 1953 through December 1955, running concurrently with “I Love Lucy.” It was produced live at CBS Television City for most of its run, until switching to film for a truncated third season filmed (ironically) at Desilu and recasting Liz Cooper with Vanessa Brown.
MAIN CAST
Lucille Ball (Liz Cooper) was born on August 6, 1911 in Jamestown, New York. She began her screen career in 1933 and was known in Hollywood as ‘Queen of the B’s’ due to her many appearances in ‘B’ movies. With Richard Denning, she starred in a radio program titled “My Favorite Husband” which eventually led to the creation of “I Love Lucy,” a television situation comedy in which she co-starred with her real-life husband, Latin bandleader Desi Arnaz. The program was phenomenally successful, allowing the couple to purchase what was once RKO Studios, re-naming it Desilu. When the show ended in 1960 (in an hour-long format known as “The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour”) so did Lucy and Desi’s marriage. In 1962, hoping to keep Desilu financially solvent, Lucy returned to the sitcom format with “The Lucy Show,” which lasted six seasons. She followed that with a similar sitcom “Here’s Lucy” co-starring with her real-life children, Lucie and Desi Jr., as well as Gale Gordon, who had joined the cast of “The Lucy Show” during season two. Before her death in 1989, Lucy made one more attempt at a sitcom with “Life With Lucy,” also with Gordon.
Richard Denning (George Cooper) was born Louis Albert Heindrich Denninger Jr., in Poughkeepsie, New York. When he was 18 months old, his family moved to Los Angeles. Plans called for him to take over his father’s garment manufacturing business, but he developed an interest in acting. Denning enlisted in the US Navy during World War II. He is best known for his roles in various science fiction and horror films of the 1950s. Although he teamed with Lucille Ball on radio in “My Favorite Husband,” the two never acted together on screen. While “I Love Lucy” was on the air, he was seen on another CBS TV series, “Mr. & Mrs. North.” From 1968 to 1980 he played the Governor on “Hawaii 5-0″, his final role. He died in 1998 at age 84.
Gale Gordon and Bea Benadaret do not appear in this episode.
Ruth Perrott (Katie, the Maid) was also later seen on “I Love Lucy.” She first played Mrs. Pomerantz (above right), a member of the surprise investigating committee for the Society Matrons League in “Pioneer Women” (ILL S1;E25), as one of the member of the Wednesday Afternoon Fine Arts League in “Lucy and Ethel Buy the Same Dress” (ILL S3;E3), and also played a nurse when “Lucy Goes to the Hospital” (ILL S2;E16). She died in 1996 at the age of 96.
Bob LeMond (Announcer) also served as the announcer for the pilot episode of “I Love Lucy”. When the long-lost pilot was finally discovered in 1990, a few moments of the opening narration were damaged and lost, so LeMond – fifty years later – recreated the narration for the CBS special and subsequent DVD release.
GUEST CAST
Hans Conried (Milkman / Eddie) first co-starred with Lucille Ball in The Big Street (1942). He then appeared on “I Love Lucy” as used furniture man Dan Jenkins in “Redecorating” (ILL S2;E8) and later that same season as Percy Livermore in “Lucy Hires an English Tutor” (ILL S2;E13) – both in 1952. The following year he began an association with Disney by voicing Captain Hook in Peter Pan. On “The Lucy Show” he played Professor Gitterman in “Lucy’s Barbershop Quartet” (TLS S1;E19) and in “Lucy Plays Cleopatra” (TLS S2;E1). He was probably best known as Uncle Tonoose on “Make Room for Daddy” starring Danny Thomas, which was filmed on the Desilu lot. He joined Thomas on a season 6 episode of “Here’s Lucy” in 1973.
Frank Nelson (Cop on the Beat) was born on May 6, 1911 (three months before Lucille Ball) in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He started working as a radio announcer at the age of 15. He later appeared on such popular radio shows as “The Great Gildersleeve,” “Burns and Allen,” and “Fibber McGee & Molly”. This is one of his 11 performances on “My Favorite Husband.” On “I Love Lucy” he holds the distinction of being the only actor to play two recurring roles: Freddie Fillmore and Ralph Ramsey, as well as six one-off characters, including the frazzled train conductor in “The Great Train Robbery” (ILL S5;E5), a character he repeated on “The Lucy Show.” Aside from Lucille Ball, Nelson is perhaps most associated with Jack Benny and was a fifteen-year regular on his radio and television programs.
Florence Halop (”The Brooklyn Blabbermouth” aka “Nasal Hazel”) was first seen on television with Lucille Ball in “Redecorating” (ILL S2;E8) in which she reprised her role as the party line phone hog. She wouldn’t work for Lucy again until 1974, when she played a Little Old Lady on a Western-themed episode of “Here’s Lucy.” In 1985, she replaced Selma Diamond (who had died of lung cancer) as the bailiff on “Night Court.”
Johnny McGovern (Boy) was just 13 years old when he did this episode. During this time he also played Little Beaver on the radio series “Red Ryder”. He was eventually replaced by Sammy Ogg, who played one of the Hudson Twins on “I Love Lucy.” On television, he played Will Thornberry in four episodes of “The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet” from 1953 to 1955.
EPISODE
ANNOUNCER: “As we look in on the Coopers today, it is breakfast time and at the table a little domestic drama is taking place. George is engrossed in the morning paper and Liz finds herself sitting there with no one to talk to. This of course is a scene, which never happens in any other home. One thing about George though, no matter how interested he is in the paper when Liz speaks he comes right to attention.”
George doesn’t respond when Liz asks for a morning kiss. She lights his newspaper on fire!
Lucy Ricardo also did this to get Ricky’s attention in “Be a Pal” (ILL S1;E2).
LIZ: “Ever since spring training started there are eleven of us at breakfast: you, me, and the Dodgers.”
George promises to put the paper down... as soon as he finishes the article about golf and Demeret.
Golf pro Jimmy Demaret (1910-83) appeared as himself on “I Love Lucy” in 1954, then again on “The Lucy Show” in 1964. In real life, Lucille Ball and her husbands Desi and Gary were golfers.
Liz begs him for a kiss, and without paying much attention, he complies. Instead of her lips, he has kissed Liz’s morning grapefruit without even noticing!
Lucy Ricardo also did this to Ricky in in “Be a Pal” (ILL S1;E2).
Liz begs him for a favor: tell Katie the maid she cannot have Saturday night off. They have guests coming, and Liz was afraid to ask for herself. George asks her himself, and Katie isn’t bothered at all. Liz agrees that from now on she’ll stand up for her rights.
When George finds the cream for the coffee has soured, he insists Liz tell the milkman about it - stand up for her rights. The milkman arrives, delivers the milk, and then leaves. Liz chickened out. George calls him back to tell him Hogan’s Frolicking Milkmaid Cream was sour. The milkman (Hans Conried) says that Mr. Hogan will take it out on the cow! He gives them free items instead of losing their business.
MILKMAN: “You see, we can’t afford a radio program!”
It was common that large companies would sponsor radio programs, their names becoming part of the title, and the stars doing live commercials for them. Pet and Carnation were two of the most ubiquitous dairy sponsors on radio.
While downtown shopping with Katie, Liz is bragging about how she told off the butcher. She stops for a piece of gum from a gumball machine. It takes her penny, but doesn’t give her any good. Liz is angry. A crowd gathers, including a cop (Frank Nelson). He says that someone has been robbing the machines of their pennies, and wants to know if Liz knows anything about it.
LIZ: “Yeah, I’m the ring leader: Two-Gun Jean the Chicle Queen!”
Chicle is a natural gum traditionally used in making chewing gum and other products. The American Chicle Company was an American chewing gum company, incorporated in 1899. Its products eventually grew to include breath mints, antacids, cough drops and other items. American Chicle was acquired by Warner-Lambert in 1962, which in turn was acquired by Pfizer in 2000.
Liz demands to know the name of the company who owns the ‘one-finger bandit’.
When she gets home she finds their phone number for the Ballyhoo Vending Machine Company. When she tries to call, the ‘Brooklyn Blabbermouth’ aka ‘Nasal Hazel’ (Florence Halop) is on the party line, talking to her boyfriend, Eddie.
ANNOUNCER: “Liz is embarking on a battle for her rights with the Ballyhoo Vending Machine Company. As we find her now, she is on her way to do battle, and George is dropping her off in front of the vending machine company.”
George needs to visit the bank, so he says he will meet Liz in an hour for lunch at Nickodells.
Nickodell Restaurant was located at 5511 Melrose Avenue, built into the side of RKO (later Desilu) Studio. Nickodell was the place folks working on the lot escaped to for a mid-day cocktail, and many important deals were made at its tables. When “I Love Lucy” was casting Desi Arnaz got a call from an actor named William Frawley and they arranged to get together and discuss the role over drinks at Nickodell. It closed for good in 1993.
GEORGE: “So long, Carrie Nation!”
Caroline Amelia Nation (1846-1911) was an activist who was a radical member of the temperance movement, which opposed alcohol before the advent of Prohibition. Nation is noted for attacking alcohol-serving establishments (most often taverns) with a hatchet. Lucille Ball played Nation in a sketch in 1962′s “The Good Years” on CBS TV.
Liz enters the ‘crooked’ gum machine company, and demands to see the complain manager. It is ‘the Brooklyn Blabbermouth’! Despite their differences, Liz tells her that she wants her penny back.
BLABBERMOUTH: “Why you so in love with that penny? Did Lincoln give it to you personally?”
Rather than fill out a refund form (which asks for her birth year) she vows to hire a lawyer to get her refund.
LIZ: “I’ll get that penny back if it takes every cent I’ve got!”
On her way to lunch, she sees a little boy (Johnny McGovern) crying that he isn’t tall enough to reach the gum machine! She tries to convince him he’s better off short! She agrees to put his penny into the machine to get him a piece of gum. Naturally, no gum comes out. She doesn’t have another penny of her own. The little boy tells her to hit it on the side. She does and a flood of pennies spill out on the sidewalk. They both take a penny for their refunds. The cop finds them standing in a pile of pennies. He accuses her of being the ring leader, just as sarcastically said earlier.
COP: “You’re going to jail, Mrs. Fagin!”
The name ‘Fagin’ was borrowed from the Charles Dickens’ 1838 novel Oliver Twist. In the preface to the novel, he is described as a "receiver of stolen goods”. He is the leader of a group of child pickpockets and prostitutes. Alec Guinness portrayed Fagin in David Lean’s 1948 film adaptation of Oliver Twist, The release of the film in the USA was delayed for three years on charges of being anti-Semitic. It was finally released in the United States in 1951. Fagin will also be mentioned in “Liz and Iris’s Easter” (March 24, 1951), in a scene also featuring Frank Nelson!
Later, George has paid $50 bail to get Liz out of jail, and is not happy about it. Liz jollies him into kissing him - in the middle of the street. Before going home, George wants to get some cigarettes - from a machine! Naturally, no cigarettes come out. Just when George is jiggling the handle, you-know-who comes by!
COP: “Well, if it isn’t Mrs. Fagin. I see you’re working with older boys now.”
He arrests them both!

-Then...
-Alright. You ready?

-It’s just the wind.
-Don’t worry. My mom, she said the lights speak when it comes.
-Blink. Think of them as alarms.
-No, it’s fine. Thanks.
-Nancy?
-You need to get out of here. Listen to me, I’m not asking you, I’m telling you, get out of here!
-Nancy. Nancy. Nancy! Nancy! The lights.
-It’s here.

-Go! Go! Run! Go! Get out of here!
-Jump!
-Shut up!
-I don’t know.
-No.
-Come on. Come on, you son of a bitch! You see it?
-Come on. Where are you? Come on!
-Get back!
-No. It has to be dead. It has to be.
-Mom. Is that you? Mom?
-I don’t think that’s the monster.
-Hey.
-You’re home. You’re home now. You’re safe.
-Yeah, it’s me, buddy. We missed you. We really missed you.
-What, this? It’s just a cut. It’s nothing. You’re worried about my hand.
-Oh, hey, uh...we, uh...we brought you some stuff...so you don’t get bored in here.
-Uh, I made you a new mixtape. There’s some stuff on there I think you really might like.
-Guys, guys, go easy on him.
-Jeez, what’s that smell? Have you guys been playing games all day or just farting?
-Will, come on.
-So, you have fun?
-Hey, Mrs. Wheeler.
-Yeah, thank you. Uh, Merry Christmas.
-So, uh, you win?
-Awesome.
-Thanks, um...I...I didn’t get you anything, I...I feel bad.
-Merry Christmas.
-You ready? Let’s go.
-Alright. Buckle up.
-Yeah, sure.
-Yeah. Yeah, pretty cool.
-What you got there? That one yours?
-Looks pretty big.
-Be careful. You’ll break it.
-Documenting.
-Because...it looks great.
-Mom. Mom, it’s gonna be great.
-Thanks.
-Mm. Very good, Mom.
-Mm, hey, did Will tell you about, uh, the game?
Season 2
S2: E1 MADMAX
-“Come and get sheet-faced”. No, I’m not.
-Well, you can relax, I’m not gonna be alone. I’m going trick-or-treating with Will.
-Yeah.
-Sounds like a nice night.
-Hey, bud. I, uh, didn’t know what you’d like, so I got a variety. Take your pick.
-Alright. What are you working on?
-Zombie Boy? Who’s Zombie Boy?
-Did someone call you that? Hey, you can talk to me, you know that, right? Whatever happened. Will, come on, talk to me.
-What? Like what?
-What are you talking about?
-You’re not a freak.
-You know what? You’re right. You are a freak.
-No, I’m serious, you’re a freak. But what? Do you wanna be normal? Do you wanna be just like everyone else? Being a freak is the best, alright? I’m a freak.
-I have-I have friends, Will.
-Because you’re my best friend, alright? And I would rather be best friends with Zombie Boy than with a boring nobody. You know what I mean?
-Okay, look...who would you rather be friends with? Bowie or Kenny Rogers?
-Exactly. It’s no contest. The thing is, nobody normal ever accomplished anything meaningful in this world. You got it?
S2: E2 Trick or Treat, Freak
-Yeah?
-What?
-He’s not in his room?
-Three, two, one...
-Great! Hold up the proton blaster.
-Alright, now turn to the light.
-Yeah, cool.
-Are you ready, bud?
-I just-I just don’t get what she sees in him.
-Bob.
-What? You think I’m lame?
-Hey, listen, if I let you go on your own, you promise to stay in the neighborhood?
-And ve back at Mike’s by 9?
-9.
-Deal?
-Alright. Hey, Will, don’t let any of your spazzy friends use this, alright?
-I hope it doesn’t suck.
-Huh?
-Oh, uh, yeah, I’m going as a guy who hates parties.
-Uh, Jonathan.
-KISS? The band?
S2: E3 The Pollywog
-We’re looking, Mom.
-He’s staying over now?
-Yeah, yeah, he was upset. I mean, he was...he was really upset. But he was still worried about you.
-Hey, you need to cut yourself some slack, okay? People say stupid things when they’re wasted, you know, things they don’t mean.
-Like there’s this weight you’re carrying around with you? All the time? I feel it too.
-Yeah, yeah he did, but, you know, he’s not the same. I try to be there for him, you know, to help him, but...I don’t know. I mean, maybe...maybe things just can’t go back to the way they were.
-Mad?
-The people responsible for this...they’re dead.
-Yeah. Why? What are you thinking?
-Oh...Ms. Wheeler!
-Yeah, uh, we have a test tomorrow.
-Bummer.
-Yeah.
-Stressful.
-Bye Ms. Wheeler!
-Okay, are you sure about this?
S2: E4 Will the Wise
-Mom? Will? Hello?
-Hey.
-No, she was sleeping, but I left a note.
-Stop saying that.
-Yeah, I know. Just give him time.
-What?
-We’re not together.
-You still wanna do this?
S2: E5 Dig Dug
-Uh...double.
-Nance...uh, on or off?
-What?
-Yeah.
-What?
-It’s not going to end.
-Yeah.
-Congratulations.
-What do you mean?
-Yeah, Will needed me...and Steve...
-Yeah, like only a month.
-Are you positive this is the right place?
-Alright.
-What camera?
-You might wanna sit down for this.
-What? Think?
-You don’t believe us, do you?
-Them?
-This is ridiculous!
-Wait, what?
S2: E6 The Spy
-To taking down the man.
-Yeah, no, no, I’ve gotta drive.
-I mean, do...do you wanna stay?
-Okay, uh...could I use the sofa?
-No, no, I mean, we’re just friends.
-What? No, I mean, my dad’s-
-Steve.
-Trust issues? Trust issues.
-Trust issues? I do not...
-Hey.
-Oh, no, don’t, I mean, he’s so drunk.
-Yeah, I mean, what, he knows us for a couple of hours and he’s got us all figured out?
-Yeah, yeah, it’s fine.
-Yeah, um, goodnight.
-Uh, sorry?
-Oh, yeah, yeah, it was...it was good.
-Oh. Okay.
-No, no, it’s fine. They’re probably just at the matinee or something.
-What...?
-I don’t know. Mom? Will?
-I don’t shoot Polaroid.
-It’s not mine. Someone else has been here.
S2: E8 The Mind Flayer
-Why are the lights off?
-And security just took the night off? I don’t think so.
-No. The power’s off.
-What?
-Nancy, Nancy, wait.
-Hello? Who’s there? Who’s there?
-Steve?
-Why?
-Hang on-
-Yeah...
-Come on! Get in!
-Hey. Hey there. It’s me. Um, I’m sorry, bud. I’m sorry I wasn’t there. I should’ve been there.
-You sure this is gonna work?
-Do you remember the day Dad left? We stayed up all night building Castle Byers...just the way you drew it, and it took so long, because you were so bad at hammering. You’d miss the nail every time. And then, it started raining, but we stayed out there anyway. We were both sick for like a week after that, but we just had to finish it, didn’t we? We just had to.
-Do you remember the first time I played you this? Mom and Dad were both arguing in the next room, so I played you the mixtape I made you, and it was the first time you got into music. Real music.
-They’re coming!
-What?
S2: E9 The Gate
-Then we need to make the host uninhabitable.
-Okay. Denfield to oak tree, swing a right, that’s it. But, it’s channel ten, right?
-Are you sure this is a good idea?
-Mom...
-It’s not working. It’s not working! Mom, are you listening to me?
-How much longer? Mom, look at him!
-You’re killing him!
-You’re killing him! No!
-Mom, you’re killing him!
-Come on, buddy!
-Come on!
-Come on, Will!
-Chief, are you there? Chief, do you copy?
-Close it.
-No, no, just the good stuff.
-Yeah, yeah, it’s what’s happening.

The Bold Type - 2x01 - “Feminist Army” Recap
I plan to do these recaps every week but real life takes over and I write when I have time. I’ve been working on 2x01 & 2x02 recaps since premiere week and between technical difficulties (my laptop is old and turns on when it feels like it) and working crazy hours at work, it’s been slow getting these done. My recaps are a bit lengthy, so if you’ve got time to read, I hope you do. Also, the episodes always open with the Ladies together so my recaps will (for the most part) start off with the Ladies and then branch off into Kat & Adena’s storylines (they are the 2 characters I relate to the most being a bi-woc). Lastly, any and all feedback, (helpful) criticism and suggestions are welcomed/appreciated!
Season 1 Summary - When we last checked in with the Ladies of The Bold Type: Jane who started as an assistant, now promoted to a writer –her dream job, made a tough decision to move on from Scarlet. Sutton, the ultimate assistant got an opportunity to dive head first into the world of fashion, where her heart has always been. Kat, the queen of social media, living her best professional life and even with a few hiccups, is at the top of her game! Professionally the Trio made plenty of moves, when it came to their personal lives they found themselves at different stages. Jane experienced her first orgasm, got tested for the BRCA gene, decided to give Pinstripe a chance, then decided not to and leaned on her friends through it all. Sutton managed to keep her relationship with Richard (a board member) under lock and key until Kat & Jane found out. After breaking up with Richard, she hooked up with Alex but realized that her heart is still Richard’s. Kat unexpectedly fell hard for Adena, an artist and proud muslim lesbian who turned her world upside down. As a result, Kat jumped on a plane to be with Adena. At every turn the Ladies have been there for each other, with support, love, a shoulder and wine when needed.
S2 – E1: Feminist Army
The episode picks up 2 weeks after the end of season 1. Kat is on her way back from her international vacation with Adena and Jane & Sutton have decided to be her welcome home party. After several delays, Kat arrives and the Ladies are finally reunited and yes, it feels so good! On the cab ride home, the Trio engage in a “catch me up” session with Jan & Sutton pointing out how sprung Kat is over Adena (who we also find out is on her way to NY, her visa has been approved). The joy is emanating from Kat so much so that she wants to share it with the world, starting with the cab driver. Since Sutton is always working, there’s a detour stop at a pop-up shop and the Ladies have an awkward, yet laugh out loud worthy run in with Jacqueline (Kat’s facial expression says it all). Jacqueline asks Jane about how things are going and Jane proceeds to tell Jacqueline about the vertical and the stories that she has lined up. Even though Jane no longer works at Scarlet this exchange feels as if she’s trying to convince Jacqueline that she’s a great writer. With what she’s heard Jacqueline assures Jane that what she’s doing is important and with that she bids the Ladies farewell.
Kat – who has been wearing a permanent smile is dressed for work and engaging with her personal social media audience. She snaps a video as she climbs over Adena, who’s still in bed and clearly trying to stave off the morning sun. Adena tries to coax Kat to come back to bed by suggesting they finish what was started the previous night and although Kat’s face and mouth are in agreement (“I would love to”), she has to go to work. As a compromise, they settle on having lunch…kissing her girlfriend goodbye, Kat heads off to work.
Back into the swing of things at Scarlet, Kat has a full day ahead of her. First a meeting with Jacqueline who welcomes her back and gets Kat to admit that her need for time off was not just because she wanted a vacation. Kat realized while she was gone that everything important to her was as a result of Scarlet...Adena, Jane, Sutton and her career too and she doesn’t take any of it for granted. Jacqueline brings Kat up to speed on what is needed now that she’s back, including changes to the dot-com and the hiring that needs to happen in the social media department and to start things off, she’s needed for a meeting with the board.
It’s time for the seminar on sexual harassment and Kat and Sutton are both wearing faces of boredom until Richard comes in to make a statement. As Richard unpacks the latest changes made to the company’s dating policy, Kat sends a text to Sutton to make sure she’s aware that everything Richard is saying is for her. And just so Sutton understands how much Richard’s statements are for her, Kat being the best friend that she is, raises her hand and asks if the employees who are in different departments/on different levels can date. Richard makes it abundantly clear that it doesn’t matter, department or level as long as they are willing to sign a consent form, it’s a go! Anyone would see this as a victory but Sutton is apprehensive and it’s written all over her face.
Jacqueline and Kat are facing off with the board that consists of white men who are out of touch with how to capture the attention of trendsetters. Kat never one to bite her tongue, interjects and get a chance to school the board on how to engage with millenials…yes, a guy self identifying as a unicorn in fact will start a conversation…score 1 for the social media director…Kat-1 vs. Board-0. While sharing her small victory with Sutton, they are confronted with the latest gossip which happens to be about Sutton. In the midst of dealing with that mini crisis Adena shows up for their scheduled lunch date. The moment Adena speaks Kat’s name, her face lights up and smiles are exchanged between the two. Kat so caught up with everything that’s been going on forget to text Adena to cancel lunch. Kat asks Adena for a rain check and although visibly disappointed, she understandably obliges.
Back at the apartment Kat is greeted with the smell of delicious food and her girlfriend dressed in a kimono with lingerie underneath. It’s clear that Adena has certain things in mind when she makes the statement that she’s been craving Kat all day. Yet, somehow Kat misses this and goes into a spiel about a Scarlet party she has to attend and would like Adena to go with her. Just as she had done that morning, Adena makes a last ditch effort, unsuccessfully, to get Kat to stay home. Instead, Adena finds herself caving to Kat’s megawatt smile and she agrees to go to the party. To say that Adena is very understanding is an understatement.
While at the party, Jacqueline greets Kat & Adena and Adena has a chance to thank Jacqueline for everything she did for them while in Peru. Since this is a Scarlet party, Jacqueline wants Kat to walk the red carpet and take pictures but when Kat tries to get Adena to participate, Adena declines leaving Kat to wonder why. After fulfilling her red carpet obligations, Kat confronts Adena. Adena explains to Kat that they are still in the beginning stage of their relationship and she feels that Kat is moving too fast. To that Kat reminds Adena that they spent weeks traveling together and now they are essentially living together. Adena tries delicately to clue Kat in on what’s been bothering her but Kat insists that Adena tell it to her straight and that she does. She tells Kat that in her willingness to post pictures on social media of them and to tell everyone who will listen that she has a girlfriend, she’s not ready to go down on her. It was as if the room stood still. Kat is shocked and left speechless, not sure of how to digest what Adena has said to her. Instead of trying to hash things out in the middle of a party, they decide they’ll talk when Kat gets home. With her best friends bearing witness to what is Kat & Adena’s first fight, Sutton knows what they need in that moment –a closet.
For Kat the relationship with Adena is her first ever relationship and with this revelation from Adena’s confession, she’s questioning the relationship, her sexuality and being able to please her girlfriend. Luckily for Kat, she has friends that listen and offer sound advice, reminding her that she’s a newbie and she can’t be worried that she’ll get it right every time. With this bit of reassurance, Kat returns home to Adena who’s waiting up for her. Even though she’s nervous, Kat knows that she has to face Adena. Pushing past her need to “run” at the first sign of trouble, Kat confesses that she feels like she screwed up. To that Adena apologizes for snapping instead of just being honest. This conversation is raw and honest and a sign that both ladies are willing to do the work. Kat owns up to where she fell short, admitting that she hadn’t offered, but also, Adena never asked. Adena kindly reminds Kat of what she said the first night they hung out. In addition, she didn’t want to push her to do anything she wasn’t ready to do or didn’t want to do. Kat takes this opportunity to let Adena know that she’s attracted to her but that she was a little worried and scared. Adena puts Kat’s mind at ease by letting her know that it’s not about the act but it’s about being able to have the hard conversations. Without missing a beat Kat states matter-of-factly that she’s never talked about oral sex so much, not even at Scarlet which is surprising to me since Scarlet prides itself on being a feminist magazine. Then again if Scarlet is perceived as a magazine for straight women, it makes sense.
Kat wants Adena to know that she heard every word she said and she sets out to let her girlfriend know how much she desires her. At this point, Kat can’t help herself and she kisses Adena and that’s all it takes. More stolen kisses and glances lead to a moment when the camera pans out on Kat’s face and in that moment, it’s as if Kat let go of her inhibitions. She realizes that she’s safe with Adena and is willing to give her what she needs and wants and she proceeds to go down on her. Although she may not know exactly what she’s doing, she gives it her best and that’s evident based on Adena’s reaction. Kat has a lot of learning to do and it’s clear that she’s willing to stick and stay. -
(Sidebar: I cannot recap this episode without mentioning the scene with Kat, Sutton & Sage coming off the elevator…please pay attention to Sutton’s faces during this scene…chuckle worthy.
Also, Kat & Sutton are greeted by Alex who has definitely stepped up his game. He has grown out his facial hair and has graduated from the khakis…he’s getting his “grown man” on and it’s showing up in a pleasant way.
Last thing, do we know why Kat changed her shirt from the checkered green shirt to the printed flowing blouse that she had on when she got home? Each time I’ve watched the episode I’ve had the same thought.
P.S. I’m working on the recaps for 2x02 & 2x03...hope to have them both done before 2x04 airs.)

A King’s Knight [Oswald Cobblepot x Reader] (p. 1)
Request by Anonymus: Hello, there! Are requests open? If so, Could you please write something about the reader being one of Don Falcone’s former henchmen, and Oswald sends her to a mission that is all to test their loyalty and the reader comes out clean? (NSFW or not, as you prefer) Thank you!
I have to say, dear Anon, that this request sparked my imagination. I was thinking on how to write it while re-watching Gotham season 2, and by the time I realized I’d written over 2000 words and wasn’t even near finished. I did wanted to write some smut, to be honest. However, I find it difficult when I don’t have enough context to justify the sex, for me some kind of emotional connection is always necessary. (I’m weird, I know. Sorry abour that). That’s why I divided this into two parts for now (might do some more later, who knows).
I hope you enjoy it, despite the lack of smut.
Title: The King’s knight, p. 1
Warnings: blood and murder (your usual Gotham stuff). Spoilers: takes place between the events of S2 E1.
Oswald poured another glass of red wine for himself and walked over the chimney. His free hand rested on the marble edge as he stared into the flames. He hadn’t been in control for long but he had a good feeling about the future. Everything seemed to be playing out in his favor, yet there were some rebel underbosses that still refused to acknowledge as what he was: Gotham’s new King, and that was unacceptable. Ogden Barker for instance, he thought he could ignore 250 grand in debt because Falcone was gone.
He was going to realize his mistake soon enough, one way or the other. Oswald had been rather disappointed when Jim refused to take care of Barker for him in exchange for the favor he wanted. For Loeb to be gone so he could have his old job back at the Police Station. He still hoped for Jim Gordon to change his mind, but if not, he was getting ready a plan B: you.
‘I head you wanted to see me, Mr. Penguin’, a woman’s voice dragged him out of his thoughts.
He stepped away from the fire and turned around to face you. He didn’t remember your name. All he knew was that you had came with his new position as head of the mafia in Gotham. You had worked for Don Falcone before him, and the old man had given you to him as a token of peace after what happened.
'I think you are desperate enough to put some order back in this mess, Oswald’, Carmine had said to him before he left Gotham for good. 'But let me give you one last word of advice: You’ll need loyal men if you plan on staying the boss.’
He’d arranged a small meeting at Maroni’s old restaurant, as if to mock the dead bastard. Oswald had been rather confused that he wanted to see him. And suspicious too. He even took Butch and Gabe with him just in case Don Falcone wanted retaliation for what happened at Gotham’s Hospital a few days ago. But to his surprise, Carmine genuinly just wanted to have food and a chat with him.
'I take it that you forgive me for trying to take you down?’, Oswald dared to ask.
Carmine chuckled at his boldness.
'I don’t blame you for being ambitious’, he’d said to him. An amused smile on his wrinkled face. 'We are what we are’
'Indeed’
’[Name] will serve you well. Keep her close’
Of course he didn’t know who Don Falcone was talking of at the moment. It had been Victor the one who introduced him to you. Since you didn’t dress up as one of Zsasz’s companions he’d guessed you weren’t one of them. Honestly, if it weren’t for the fact that you was dressed up like a man, you wouldn’t really stand out at all, he thought. Not with you clean-washed face and plain hair. He might as well have taken you for a boy since you were wearing a black suit and tie that didn’t show any curves at all.
'Yes.’, he rested one hands on the back of his chair. 'What was your name again?’.
’[Name], sir’, you replied. Your voice was soft but deep, and Oswald thought it matched you serious face.
’[Name]…’, he let his tongue get used to the sound. It was an good name. It fitted you, he thought. 'So, [Name]… This is something I would rather ask Victor but since he’s taking care of… something else for me, I figured you would do’.
'What do you need, sir?’
'There’s a friend of mine I need you to follow from a distance and report back to me’, he pushed the chair back and sat down. 'The one who came by earlier today’.
He watched carefully as you cocked an eyebrow.
'You want me to follow James Gordon?’, you asked. He chuckled at the your reaction, and laced his fingers together over the table.
'Have you two met?’
'Not really, sir’, you replied. 'I know him only by reputation’.
'I see.’ Oswald raised his palms as to end the explanation there. 'The thing is, I asked dear old Jim to collect a debt from Ogden Barker in exchange for a little favor. I want you to make sure he does the bidding… And if he doesn’t, I trust you to take care of Ogden for me yourself.’
You narrowed your eyes at him. What was he asking you exactly? You need to be sure. You liked Jim, it would be a shame having to kill him as well.
'Should I kill Gordon too?’, you asked in the same tone one would use to ask about the weather. Fortunately, Oswald jumped from his seat immediately at those words.
'What? God no!’, Oswald shook his head. 'I only want you to collect the money from that traitorous punk of Ogden Barker. Leave Jim be. No harm is to be done to Jim Gordon, he and I are friends, is that clear?’
'Yes, sir’.
'Good. You can leave now’
You bowed her head sightly before exiting the room. What was Penguin’s real deal with Gordon?, that was some information you could use. You wondered as you ready for work. You hand gun, and your pocket knife skillfully concealed inside your jacket, and a pair of red leather gloves to finish up with the attire. Being an assasin didn’t mean you couldn’t kill off people with style.
That thought sent you back about a month ago, when you were still working for Don Falcone. He’d asked you to meet him at the docks, something about taking care of some chickens you thought it meant finishing off someone. Turns out he was literally speaking about chickens.
'Hello, young lady’, he greeted you with a chicken on his hands. 'I like your style’
You huffed.
'Me or the chicken?’
He chuckled, and pet the white hen in his hands.
'You know what I’m talking about’.
'What’s with the chicken, sir?’
'It’s an old habit’, he said. 'I like to know what I’m eating’
That’s when the bike appeared. Two men with helmets stopped a few meters away from Carmine and the car. One of them stepped down and pulled out a bazooka.
You acted as quickly as you could, pushing your boss out of the way. The proyectile flew past you and hit the car. The explosion send you back against a wall. You hit your head hard, and the last thing you remembered was the cackle of half a dozen chickens.
When you woke up, it was dark already. Carmine was gone and you were tied up in some warehouse along with the men that survived the blast. After you managed to free yourself, you rushed to find Don Falcone only to heard about what happened. Maroni was dead, Fish was dead, and Carmine had been taken into custody by the GCPD. Panic took over. Don Falcone was like a father to you, and you’d failed to protect him.
The first thing that came to your mind was calling Victor. You were getting ready to break Don Falcone out of wherever they had him, and help him take back Gotham. That’s what you told your friend Zsasz the second he picked up the phone. But to your surprise, he had another story for you.
'Haven’t you heard, [Name]? The boss is retiring’
You frowned.
'What the hell are you talking about?’
'He’s coming to the mansion as we speak. He and Jim Gordon came to some sort of arrangement. I don’t know’, he explained. 'You should be here when the Don arrives. Don’t be late’.
'Fine. I’m on my way’
It was just as Victor had said. Don Falcone was back at his state, and had gathered all his people at the dinning room. After he gave his final instructions, he called you appart to his office. He had another set of instructions for you: to work for the Penguin.
It seemed like a reasonable thing to consider. So naturally, you refused.
'This city needs you, sir. Not him’
'The truth is, [Name], I think it’s time that I retire. I’ve been thinking a lot about it lately, and after today…’, he sighed. 'I don’t want to be part of it any longer’
You were at loss with his words.
'Sir… What about everything you’ve buildt?’
'And what is that, my dear girl? An empire of suffering, death and betrayal? I don’t want that to be my legacy’
'So you’re just going to let this… Penguin take over?’
'Maroni is gone, Fish is gone…’, he shrugged. 'Who else is desperate enough to squabble through ash and debris to pick up the pieces of this empire but him?’
At first, the though sickened you. No one could replace Don Carmine Falcone, no one could ever stand up to his name. Specially not that kingpin wannabe. It left you wondering if there was a secret motive for him to ask such a thing of you: to worl for a man who’d tried to kill the only father figure you ever had.
However, and as usual…, Don Falcone was right all along. Penguin had put order to the anarchy among underbosses in less than a week, and now he sat in his throne as the King of Gotham. A well deserved trone. You hadn’t shared this with anyone out loud, but Oswald Cobblepot had earned your respect and admiration in the course of these past weeks.
You’d made the right call by choosing his side. This man would do Gotham good. You would gladly take care of those who wanted to undermine him as boss. Starting with Ogden Barker.
To your surprise, you didn’t have to. Jim Gordon did almost all the work. He’d shoot Barker twice without hesitation. You where hidden behind a black van when Gordon stormed into the parking lot at Ogden’s property. Four men where comming after him, and Barker himself was one of them. There was no way Gordon could make it out of there alive unless you intervene. You waited for the men to ran past you, and jumped out of your hideout to throw your knife at the slowest of them. The other two stopped to confront you, but Barker kept chasing Gordon.
You took them out easily. They could be big and tough were no match to your fighting skills. Only then, you went after the disgraced detective. That’s when he you saw him shoot the bastard. Once. Twice. In the stomach.
So far he hadn’t seen you behind the pilar and you made sure it stayed like that. When Gordon left, you approached Barker’s body. He was still breathing, but had lost too much blood to even hope for survival. He must have sensed you close because his eyes shot open, and his hand flew to grab your ankle. You reflexes got the best of you. Without thinking it twice you dug your knife into his neck and his hand dropped.
Dead at last.
Gordon had fled while still carrying the gun that shot Ogden. You glanced at the bullet wounds on the body, then at your knife and back the the corpse. Your gloves where already stained with blood you might as well make yourself usefull. As quickly as possible, you removed the bullets from Barker’s body, hid them away in your pocket and left before anyone else could see you.
'Odgen Barker is dead’, you anounced as soon as you stepped into the dinning room. Oswald was finishing up with his dinned when you arrived, Butch sat beside him.
He arched an eyebrow at your words.
'And where’s my money?’
'Gordon retrieved it’, Oswald’s severe mask dropped and his lips curved in pleased smile. This was just what he needed to hear, and he thanked you for this news. Jim had proven to be a true friend after all.
'And did he kill Barker too?’
You winced at the question.
'Well, sort… of’
Penguin frowned.
'What?’
'I finished him off’
He pressed his lips together and let our a small hum before addressing you again. 'Care to elaborate?’
You tried really hard not to roll your eyes. Penguin was your boss now after all.
'He and his men were on the run for Gordon. He was out-numbered. I figured you wouldn’t want a friend of yours to be shot to dead, sir’
'Did he see you?’
'He thinks he was the one who killed Barker. He did shoot him fatally, twice in the stomach. Barker would’ve died anyway’, you explained as your hand went inside your jacket to fish the bullets outs only to present them to the raven-haired man.
You earned suspicious glances from both men.
'The GCPD will not find any bullet’s on Ogden Barker’s body, and those who saw Jim Gordon at the club were also taken care of’.
Oswald blinked several times, trying to process all the information. This just relieved him from the pain of having to bride the police commissioner to protect Jim’s reputatiom and then take care of the mess at Ogden’s. It was perfect. Too perfect.
’I didn’t ask you to do this’, he eyed you wary.
'Shouldn’t have I?’
'I don’t know’, he crossed his arms over his chest. 'Why didn’t you reveal yourself to him?’
Oswald noticed you glanced at Butch through the corner of your eye and then back at him.
'May I speak freely, sir?’
'Yes, you may’
You were a little hesitant to talk with Butch still in the room. But you continued as it was your boss’ command.
'Detective Gordon is not your friend.’, You said, and indignation quickly washed over Oswald’s face. He glared.
'And who are you to make such an statement?’
'I’m merely observant, sir. On the friends matter, you and Jim are not. At least he doesn’t regard you as such, that’s why I didn’t reveal myself when I had the chance.’
He raised ln hand and you took it as a command to stop. So you did.
'Butch. Leave us’, Oswald said. The big man reluctantly stood up and gave you the side eye before leaving the room. When you were alone, Oswald gestured you to occupy Butch’s now empty chair. 'Go on, continue’.
You sat down with your arms over the table. You could feel Penguin’s analitic eyes over your every move. You gathered your courage to look him in the eye as you started speaking.
'You see, sir… Jim Gordon , he is an honest man. He tries too hard to be honest, and unlike the men you’ve dealt with before…’, Oswald’s gaze hardened as he listened to you. 'Don Falcone, Maroni, even Miss Mooney, men like Jim Gordon are the kind of men you need to watch out for because the can’t be bought, you can never predict when they’re going to do something reckless that will tear everything you’ve built apart, dragging you alongside’.
'That’s a fair assesment.’, he brought a hand to his chin, and looked slightly up. 'But I still don’t understand why you had him believe he killed Ogden’.
'Honor.’
Oswald narrowed his eyes at you.
'Honor?’
'You can manipulate and control an honest man easily’, you replied. Those words learned by hard from Don Falcone himself. 'But only if you have something that will threaten his reputation. His honor’.
Oswald studied your face for any sign of deception. He was so used to be lied to that he’d become quite skilled at reading people’s true intentions behind their elaborated masks. Yet, he saw nothing that indicated you were trying to fool him.
His expression softened. Now he was intrigued.
'Why are you doing this? No half truths this time. I really want to know. What is it that you want?’
You leaned back on your chair and a annoyed frown crept to your face. This conversation had went long enough for your own taste.
'Have you always been this suspicious of your men?’
Penguin shrugged with a cynic half smile.
'Old habits die hard’
'Fine’, You raised your palms and took a deep breath. He was your boss after all, he was entitled to a better explanation. 'I want… what’s best for the bussiness’, you replied, looking into his big eyes. 'And right now, you are. This city needs a leader, sir. Everyone who underestimated you, who took you for a fool, you’ve proven them wrong and rose like a true Don’.
Oswald’s lips parted but no words came out of his mouth. He chocked down a nervous laugh as he looked at your face. You were truly being honest, and he wasn’t expecting that. He cleared his throat and tried to remain formal.
'A Don you say?’
'Yes, sir.’, you placed a hand on top of his, as to support your words and give him a small gesture of your appreciation. 'In all but name…’
'However, Don Cobblepot doesn’t sound right, does it?’
You smiled.
'No. I suppose it doesn’t.’
'I’ll just stick to Penguin for now’, he commented, 'It grew on me.’
He chuckled and brought the back of his hand to his face. His cheeks where burning hot. You had done this to him, and he had let you. It was unnaceptable. Oswald was relieved you were the only ones in the room. Oswald took back his hand the moment he noticed he’d been staring at you for too long.
You on the other hand, couldn’t advert your eyes from this man. Who would have though that the cruel Penguin, this cold-blooded murderer could in fact make such an adorable face when embarrassed.
'If that is all, sir…’, you said. 'I would like to retire before Gordon arrives’
'Of course, of course.’, he waved his hand to indicate you could. 'You are free to go, [Name]’.
You stood up and gave him a short bow before exiting the room. Oswald never once took his eyes from you as you left. Butch returned soon after and said something Oswald didn’t pay attention to. His mind was elsewhere, with you. Don Falcone was right about him needed loyal men. Every king needed knights, and he bet you would look good on a shinning armor.

I’m about to blather on about a highly unlikely theory that would allow a B. Siren redemption arc, but probably remove Tina(h). Spoilers and speculation abound under the cut.
So, they’ve nearly finished season 2 of LoT, and Laurel will be in the final episode. They have just begun shooting for 5x19 of Arr. This depends on the airing schedule, but I’m pretty sure Legends will finish in early April (so iZombie can air), meaning there will be a few episodes left before the Arr. finale in May. Ostensibly, then, Sara could be in the last few episodes of Arrow this season. What am I suggesting?
Katie C. is going to be in the LoT finale. One theory is she could be in it as B. Siren. My personal theory is that she’ll show up as a hallucination, akin to the Invasion hallucination of Arrow’s 100th episode, and Sara will have the chance to change reality (or not reset it after someone else has) so that E1 Laurel is still alive. I don’t think Sara will take it, for moral reasons. But, Sara has been through a pretty tough season, one which I think they will show the ramifications for as this season comes to a close. She mourned Len and Laurel, and was particularly affected by Rip’s disappearance and brainwashing, technically dying again even. Sara (and this is said with a great deal of respect for her otherwise) has a habit of running away from things- she did it on the Gambit, and the League, and kind of from her relationship with Oliver in S2, and again when Laurel revived her. Then she joined a group where she gets to spend all her time travelling around the world and throughout time, with the biggest repercussions when she was stuck in the late fifties for two years. So I think, if at the end of this season, Sara decides not to revive her own Laurel, but learns there is another Laurel walking around who she might have hope of redeeming, Sara might decide to return to her own time for a few episodes (or even permanently in her own mind, if not in practice) at the end of the season and work on redeeming E2 Laurel. This would parallel the Invasion-“Who are You” trajectory of Laurel earlier in the season, but using Sara, who has always been an instrumental part in Laurel’s journey as the Black Canary. She became a canary because of Sara’s death, and in LoT’s pilot she said she found herself because of Sara, so maybe Sara is the ingredient that was missing earlier this season to take E2 Laurel from Siren to Canary.
Now here’s where my train of thought goes from wishful thinking to building mountains out of anthills. I stopped watching Arr. after “Who are You” but last I knew, the show was basically saying that Prometheus is the child of one of Oliver’s enemies/victims. So I have two Prometheories, but both of them feature Tina as being Team Prometheus (and I realize that I don’t know her character since I haven’t seen her). One is that Tina is Talia’s daughter, and for whatever reasons to be shown in the flashbacks, she is opposed to Oliver. Maybe Talia died for reasons Tina blames Oliver for, and then Oliver got to be Ra’s, when Tina is technically in the line of succession. The other theory is that, just as the sex of Dig’s baby changed because of Flashpoint, so too did the sex of one of Slade’s children (mentioned in season 1) and his Flashpoint daughter Tina (really Rose) blames Oliver for the ruin of her father, etc. A note before I continue this: actress Julianna H. is multiracial, with some Chinese and Russian heritage amongst others. Talia (Lexa Doig) is of Filipina heritage and Slade (Manu Bennett) is of Maori heritage- I realize that I’m being racially insensitive in this theory, but Arrow has never been great about sticking to racial make-ups between characters and actors. That being said I fully accept this theory may be off.
After Artemis got found out, Tina had to move in, and so she blackmailed the E2-doppleganger of the former Black Canary into the picture and then set herself up as the perfect replacement. And the reason E2-Laurel was afraid of her is because they have the same Meta powers so hers wouldn’t have any effect on Tina (I realize it hasn’t worked like that with speedsters, but I imagine both ladies would be insensitive to the sounds the other can make?). If Tina is Slade’s daughter, taking on the Canary mantle might give her even more satisfaction, since Slade hated Sara almost as much as he did Ollie. And in turn, maybe Tina might steal the White Canary title upon any discovery of villainy.
Both Lance Canaries (Sara and an E2-Laurel she would help to redeem) would then be instrumental in helping to take down Team Prometheus. And, depending on how things pan out, E2-Laurel could join the Legends next season, or she could stay with Team Arrow and slowly build up trust with them (and maybe face the Twelve Brothers in Silk as Arrow’s Big Bad next season?), or we could see a Birds of Prey spin-off with redeemed E2 Laurel going off on her own. And technically, Laurel and Sara could come back and help their Arrow friends even if Sara did use the Spear in the LOT finale, I just don’t think she will. Regardless, it would help in taking Arrow full circle, because both Lance sisters would be there as the show ends the (original set of) flashbacks and Oliver is rescued from the island.
