I tweet this just a moment ago but thought it needed to be shared here too.
To elaborate, in some ways, I have moved on from Yuri on Ice. I may be obsessing over Good Omens...but the Good Omens obsession, while initially filling the hole left by a dearth of Yuri on Ice in a dark place in my life, is currently a fandom full of nothing but fun.
Yuri on Ice was a place of survival for me. I could survive because of Yuri on Ice. I could live because of Yuri on Ice. And yes, Good Omens did that for me too, as I was falling back into the place of pain that made me want to give up forever. But Yuri on Ice was my only lifeline for two years. At least TWO FULL YEARS, maybe plus some weeks or months. It gave me something to be happy about in times that I never thought I’d be happy ever again.
And though Yuri on Ice should, perhaps, remind me of a dark time in my life, it really reminds me of the fact that I can survive. Even if I’m only living for an anime.
I made a couple of new friends, I met a community of supportive people, even if only one or two of them knew what I was going through, and Yuri on Ice saved my life over and over again.
The fandom is quieter nowadays. I don’t read as much fanfiction, and like I said, my current focus is on Good Omens. But my love for Yuri on Ice will never die, and the fire will be ignited again with the release of Ice Adolescence. I know it.
So I have to ask, for my sake, and for others...when will Yuri on Ice return from the war?
